TEW 2020 Launch 14/05 (Currently in Beta)

The game was suppose to be launched mid April, but it was pushed back after lots of bugs were found on their beta launch. For people who do not know, this is a wrestling promotion game and the guy who made it is also the creator of WMMA.

Let me just say, i have been a fan of this series since the late 90s when it was still being called EWR and this game is probably in my all time top 5-6 games of all time, in terms of time spent on it. Also considering this is created by a small indy developer, i could say that Adam Ryland (the developer) has done a pretty good job improving the game from the late 90s, then in 2004 he had his first paid version, 2010, 2013, 2016 and this being his latest launch.

However this is by far his roughest release to date. Adam tried to build the game up from scratch but in the process he removed lots of previous features (some bigger than others) without really replacing those with significant new features. The two biggest downsides are the user interface (which is being worked on) and the removal of custom products, in short you cannot book the show how you want any more, you have to follow the guidelines based on some pre-determined show types. There are other major downsides as well, such as less options for development promotions, a weakened Dojo "training centers", the auto-booker not "auto-booking" shows based on the show caps and a controversial move away from roster pushes towards a new idea called "worker perception".

I am sure all this sounds like scientific language to people who never played they game, the point is that TEW 2020 could end up being simply a new TEW and not necessarily a better version that TEW 2016 and this is assuming Adam sorts out all the bug's (which he will eventually). If he does not at least add the removed features, i would say that this is not a better game, it is just a different version. In the past TEW launches, rarely would they add features, so i am suspecting that this version will be similar.

Messed with WMMA 4 or 5. Idk. I can't stand the incomplete records and fight history. Like looking at a 7-3 fighter in MMATycoon and he has 2 fights on his resume.

And the loading screens.... ahhhh.

Never played TEW but if this were a freakishly great review, I would of at least googled the pictures/reviews later.

Yeah, he messed around with WMMA4 i remember. He removed tourney's or something like that, which made zero sense, WMMA5 he got it right though, that one is a serious improvement.

The problem with TEW2020 is that he removed so many features to the extent that the ones he added are maybe not as important or good. He added more features for stables, he added tourney formats for titles and expanded on titles such as making them special achievements. He also made Tag teams more interesting, you can recruit a team now, not individual members. The biggest improvement is with worker communication, the game feels alive now.

He also improved on loading times, the speed seems much better, however if you are using Real world mods, you could still see issues because the game is not built for massive databases and most of the real world mods are huge. I suggest keeping the promotions to around 25-30 all times and around 2500-3000 workers, not more, which means you will need to delete some of the less important companies and low level trash workers. I also highly suggest NOT HAVING workers + orgs being created, have regeneration on for workers and if a lot of the promotions close down, you can import a manually created company. I made a mistake with TEW2016 and left that on for both and i went 30 years into the game and loading times dropped down a lot. I suspect TEW2020 wont differ much because Adam said you should never have over 32000 lines of code at any one time, not sure how much data that is, but considering that workers and companies are the biggest databases, you should avoid having too many of those if you want speed.
