With 26 wins and 24 KO's, Luatua is one of the hardest hitting fighters in the sport. The pride of New Zealand is on a 15 fight win streak and looked unstoppable as he's torched the entire Ascension Heavyweight division. He fights like a warrior with the heart of the Island and his punches land with the force of a tidal wave. He's one of the scariest men walking on the planet, but in his upcoming battle he's facing a different breed of fighter.

Kajun is the definition of an MMA fighter. He has a brown belt under Pluto Palhares, his fathers infamous 'Puno Power' in both hands, and a degree at the Avon Barksdale school of ass-kicking. He carries the mystique of the original Pinoy Savage that makes him seem invincible. To quote a gentleman, "Watching Puno fight looks almost as if God himself got bored one day and decided to descend from Heaven to kick all of our arses one person at a time." and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Rooting hard for Puno...

Someones chin is gonna get cracked soon, HW is too unpredictable and Puno has taken some real heavy blows last few fights so that worries me.

Puno Round 1 TKO after surviving a scare.

3 World Championships

#1 P4P (#1 HW) VS (#2 HW) #6 P4P

38 combined knockouts

ZfafqEd.gif

Hello fight fans! We're sitting here with Kajun Puno, the #1 P4P fighter on the planet. I almost jizzed my pants when I heard you were gonna be here. I'm serious dude, I was like 'Holy f*ck*ng smokes'. Huge fan of your work, I love the way you kick ass in there.

Thank you.

In what is possibly the most anticipated fight of the year, in your next bout you're facing off against the #2 ranked Heavyweight of the world, Robbie Luatua! Fans are finally getting the fight they've wanted, the fight they've been dreaming about, it's almost too good to be true. I'm serious, I'm pinching myself over here. What finally materialized this matchup and turned it into reality?

We have two of the best managers in the industry. We work with each other, Louie, Johnny Lee, we get deal organized. This is fight that could of happen before debut at Dynasty K-1. Should of happen after, but Syn' had Randy Curran waiting to fight me, so had to handle business.

What made Randy Curran an interesting fight for you? There was a lot of hype around him after he beat the tar out of Musketqueer fighter Roy Palmer, but he was relatively untested in the big leagues.

Not long ago, I'm in same position. I sign with CFC. I sign with EVO. I climb latter. I become king of mountain. Louie worked out deal with HFC to bring their champ over to Syn' and challenge for #1 headband. I no pick opponent. I just fight and kick ass.

Oh boy do you ever, you've got a masters degree in ass-kicking. You were dropped with a head-kick in the first minute of that fight that would of killed me! But you got right back up like a f*ck*ng tank! Were you ever in trouble?

Any time you get knocked down, there's trouble. Not way I wanted to start but it's not how you start the fight that matters, it's how you finish fight.

You finished him off baby, you gave him a money shot right to the face. I was like 'Shit balls!' when they carried him out the cage on a stretcher. Is there some sick, twisted, Filipino in you that gets your rocks off to hurting dudes?

I love to fight and I love to win, but only rocks I get off are the ones I pick up from ground during training and throw.

You one of those S&M people who like pain?

I just like fighting. Prefer not to get hurt.

You like hurting people, just admit it!

It's fight. Protect yourself at all times. If opponent get hurt, it his fault.

Whatever you say dude. So, Robbie Luatua. Are you as excited as I am? I'm rock hard. I've had a huge warboner ever since this fight was announced.

It should be a fun fight. Robbie Luatua is great fighter, a real warrior, and very dangerous. It is perfect fight for the fans that want to see real fighters go toe-to-toe.

What kind of advantages do you feel like you have over Robbie Luatua, if any?

He's great striker. Very technical. I am all around fighter though. I can fight anywhere. I think all my advantages are versatility.

How do you see this fight playing out? Any animosity or tension between your camps since the fight has been scheduled?

I just expect war, man. We go in there and go to war. It's business. No hard feelings. Hug it out after.

Hug it out? I think one of you two will be lucky to still be alive.

We will be fine. We're fighters. This what we do. We fight. After fight, maybe go titty bar and have some drinks.

Count me in for that. I love titties. What are your favorite?

I like the really big fake ones that bounce.

You motor boatin' son of a b*tch you!

Boat loads of fun.

Hot damn! I could talk about titties all night but unfortunately we gotta wrap this up. What's next after this fight?

One fight at a time. We evaluate situation and make decision later. First we fight. Then we party. Then we worry about career.

Amen to that! Ladies and gentleman, the #1 P4P on the planet, Kajun Puno!

I've taken two of my created guys, Don Marciano and Taj al Din, to #1 P4P and another created guy, Moses Diggs, to #2 P4P.  I've also taken one of those #1 P4P MMA fighters (Marciano) and turned him into a #1 P4P KT fighter and took another zero confidence fighter I created (Qing Kong) and turned him into #1 P4P KT fighter.  When you're the KO King you make it look easy.

:us:

Kajun Puno and Orlando Diggs will most likely be my next success stories.  By the time Puno gets his skills maxed out he should be knocking off top 10 guys like flies.  7 in game years apart and Orlando already has about as much skill points as Puno.   <_< Puno swings hammers and throws rocks and doesn't want to learn UFC.

Kajun Puno vs. Robbie Luatua

Overview about one of the biggest Heavyweight fights ever

Ascension is about to close it's gates. For good this time around, unless the coming developments take a sudden turn. But a silent departure …. it is not. For in it's next to last show, we will be treated with a fight between two Heavyweights, that was a long time coming. It is the sort of fight that is so special, because all too often it never happens. Promotional tactics, protective managers or conservative business acumen routinely and effectively get in the way. But when it happens, it is time to tear open the history books and hold on to your pens:

Because Kajun Puno and Robbie Luatua will fight!

Time to take a good look at both of these fighters. Where they came from, what they achieved, where they stand today and what it will take to beat the other.

If you look at either fighter's earlier fights, there was little indication in both cases that they would go as far as they eventually did. This is especially true for Robbie Luatua, who after his 21st career fight was a meager 11-10. At this point he was already eight years into his fighting career and had his spirits tested by a soul crushing four fight losing streak. When he left LEGACY! under these circumstances, he seemed destined to be labeled as little more than a hard hitting Journeyman.

But only the hard hitting bit should remain relevant. Because ever since that point in time, Robbie Luatua has not only not been beaten anymore. He went on an awe inspiring 14 fight winning streak. He won all of these fights by KO or TKO. He is therefore unbeaten in Ascension and has defended the Heavyweight belt a stunning eight times. An incredible feat in it's own right. Much more so when considering that it happened in the framework of such a remarkable evolution. And at Heavyweight out of all weight classes.

But how on earth was that possible? How could Robbie Luatua go from being a Journeyman, who was knocked out already seven times, to become the man who was unbeaten ever since, defended Ascension's Heavyweight title a record eight times in a row and knocked a guy like "Ulven" Gymer Alexandersson into retirement?

The key word has to be “defense”. Lutaua was always a tough customer, but far too reckless early in his career. He was headhunting and showed little regard for the offerings of his opponents. And while he was durable, such careless offensive made him far too hittable. Looking through Lutua's losses, one pattern reveals itself with utmost consistency. He got out-landed rather clearly in most of these defeats. This is where his game changed the most drastic. Because Lutua may have always been a knockout artist. But at this critical point in his career he started to take a more measured approach. One that yields far more devastating results. Luatua is rarely the fighter who goes in there and knocks his man out in one blow. Instead he chips away major chunks, but one at a time. Within his reign of terror of 14 knockout victories, only three of these came in the first round. This shows what a cerebral killer Lutua has become. He can wait ….. and he will knock you out!

Kajun Puno also showed little indications in his early career, that he would once be the p4p kingpin that he is today. In fact, he was at one point in a very similar situation as was Robbie Luatua. At 22 years of age and six yeas into his fighting career, he accomplished an unremarkable 6-5 record. His biggest claims to fame being a submission of the night performance in his second fight and being the son of one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time (and many say THE greatest): Fidel Puno. Many felt that the footprints of the original “Pinoy Savage” would turn out too big to be filled by his son. And at this point, all the critics seemed to be beyond confirmed. But then Kajun Puno would go on an eleven fight winning streak, which would then be disrupted by his one and only loss since his troubled first career third. A decision loss in a five round fight for the CEC Heavyweight title vs. Jordi Joestar. He would avenge that loss later and remain unbeaten ever since, collecting an other seven consecutive wins. During his rise to the p4p top, Puno collected the Destiny, Evolution and Synchronicity Heavyweight belts. Destiny closed it's gates shortly after him capturing the title. But he holds the Syn. and EVO titles to this day.

There is much to be discussed about Kajun Puno. But for the subject of this article we will focus on what exactly changed, when Puno made his remarkable transition from would-be to actual “Pinoy Savage”.

In Puno's case there was an undeniable physical aspect at play. Because as a Heavyweight, Puno only ever suffered one loss. The aforementioned loss at the hands of Jordi Joestar. But during his string of mixed success, where he went 6-5, he fought as a Middleweight and later on as a Light Heavyweight. It was only at Heavyweight that Puno came truly into his own. He never took well to weight cutting. Four decision losses at the lower weight classes and a last minute knockout loss in the third (only five seconds before the bell!) highlight as much.

Knowing all that ... what exactly is the complexion of the fight at hand? Some would point to Puno's grappling prowess as a way to victory. And while certainly not completely off the table, such an approach could be dangerous against a man, who never was submitted. He was beaten by ground and pound in the past. But that was the old Robbie Luatua. And on the feet? Hard to say. Because Kajun Puno may very well be one of the toughest men around, with only one decisive loss. The aforementioned last minute knockout in just his fourth career fight at Middleweight (his first career loss, BTW) was the only time he ever was put away. Which is amazing, considering the line-up of killers he has fought ever since rising through the ranks. But by the same token, Robbie Luatua is quite possibly the most dangerous striker of the weight class. And that even if you compare him historically. He is not just a competitor. He is the man to beat at 265, not named Kajun Puno.

Honestly ….. this one is impossible to predict. One one hand you have the unrivaled durability of Kajun Puno. And on the other hand you have Robbie Luatua. A striker, who is not reliant on landing that one hail Mary punch to knock any man out. And he has cracked many sturdy chins over the course of his last 14 fights. Like the one of Anthony Joseph, who got dealt his first KO loss by Robbie Luatua.

Maybe we should ask Anthony Joseph what he thinks, who will win. Because interestingly enough, he fought both men. And that right around the pivotal points of their careers. He dealt Puno his last loss at 205 before the Filipino went to 265 and ascended to greatness. And he was the very first victim of Robbie Luatua's run of 14 consecutive knockouts. Which makes him the only man (if this writer here is not sadly mistaken), who ever fought both.
