WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 8

(27th April 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

(#6) John “The Hooligan” Braddock (18-5, 285lbs) vs. (#8) Fletch “Skeeter” Brandis (17-8, 235lbs)

I will be honest. I did not expect these two fighters to be facing each other this soon and in this way. John “The Hooligan” Braddock and Fletch “Skeeter” Brandis were both touted as possible championship contenders but instead will be coming into this showdown off the back of shock upset losses to underdog opponents.

A bizarre decision by Braddock to take the fight to the floor against BJJ Brown Belt Comeon Hitme was his undoing while Brandis was simply taken by surprise with his opponent Anthony Griffith’s technical striking ability and lost by TKO in the second round.

This one is likely to be a stand up war but one in which Brandis will need to be cautious. Braddock has a frighteningly perfect record of KO’s in his eighteen victories and Brandis is known to be somewhat suspect in the chin area. A much wiser plan would be to get the bigger man off of his feet where he has shown some weakness and where Brandis will also have a decent advantage over him

CO-MAIN EVENT

(#5) Akama Kalani (9-6, 240lbs) vs. (#13) Dominique “Alligator” Bell (21-15, 139lbs)

Popular heavyweight knockout artist Akama Kalani makes his WVTFL debut tonight against natural flyweight Dominique Bell.

Kalani is an ex-island champion who has been on hiatus for the past six months but will be pleased to see that he still has a solid reputation in the fight game and that his fans have not forgotten him.

His opponent Bell comes into the fight off the back of a submission win against Oleg Liguy last time out which put him straight back into the rankings at number thirteen. Bell, who has a ton of experience at this point, will definitely be a very stern test for the ex-island fighter.

Francisco “The Count” Babyara (11-9, 270lbs) vs. (#15) Niko Marcell (13-3, 274lbs)

An interesting nugget of information; both of these two fighters will be coming into this bout off the back of a loss to Jack “The Hunk” Dawson. With that much in common, both fighters will be looking to take it out on the other and get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Marcell might have a little more to fight for as he currently sits in the WVT power rankings at #15. He also has a prospects record of 13-3 in which to build upon but he really will need to pick up a win here if he has to be taken seriously as a contender. Babyara seems content just to keep fighting and knocking people out and as long as he keeps doing that more often than not, he’ll always have a shot at making a run at something bigger.

Yen “Funky” Askren (12-13-1, 185lbs) vs. Ribociclib “CDK/4/6” Kisqali (13-10, 220lbs)

In his WVTFL debut, Yen Askren overturned a horrendous seven fight losing streak when he dominated Michael MP over three rounds. After a blitzing first round that all three judges scored 10-8 in his favour, Askren surprisingly used little of his sensational wrestling skills to shut out MP for the rest of the bout. Now looking to capitalise on his reversal of fortune, Askren returns to the cage against Swiss slugger Ribociclib Kisqali

Kisqali was not as successful as Askren his own debut and suffered some severe cuts in a brief but bloody and violent encounter with James Gregor that needed the doctors intervention. Rumour has it that Kisqali has shown little interest in the fight game since that time and hasn’t even trained for this up coming fight. Surely a big sign that the end might be near for Kisqali’s career?

Prediction: With Kisqali not taking the fight seriously, it would be almost impossible to see him beating a Askren in this one despite looking more than capable of matching him on paper. Kisqali does have a very impressive KO percentage out of his thirteen wins so he will always be a danger on the feet but the bookies have Akren as the clear favourite in this one.

Ake Bono (3-0, 300lbs) vs. Yoel “Can Crusher” Fullton (3-0, 215lbs

Somebodies “0” has got to go!

Two undefeated new comers to the MMA game square off tonight as three-hundred pound Ake Bono takes on light heavyweight Yoel Fullton. Both have managed to go two for two since arriving in the WVTFL and now tonight, one of these fighters is going to be learning to live with defeat. Both are decent wrestlers and have so far shown a preference for taking the fight to the floor. Bono a submission artist, Fullton with the ground and pound. Fullton has a slight advantage on the feet which might just give him the extra opportunity to finish. Whether Fullton could actually crack that chin of his is another question.

Orc Mismash (8-11, 310lbs) vs. Jan “Champion” Jedrzejczyk (12-12, 147lbs)

Orc Mismash had a tough time against BJJ Black Belt Ophelius Ragnar in his WVTFL debut and will be looking to redeem himself in his return. Mismash was wild on the feet and had some very obvious power after cutting open Ragnar with the only combination landed but on the ground it was another matter.

Natural bantamweight Jan Jedrzejczyk also returns after a tough debut fight against a much heavier Awut Smith. Going toe to toe with the 275lb Smith might not have been the best approach to the fight and Jedrzejczyk paid for that midway through the second round.

Tonight Jedrzejczyk faces an even larger opponent who is in fact over double his weight. He will need to change his approach massively if he is to avoid the same fate as before and considering Mismash’s bull in a china shop style on display from before, would absolutely make his opponents day if he were to stand directly in front of him looking to trade

Prediction: Jedrzejczyk might just come out of this one with a win IF he can avoid one of those wild combinations from Mismash. Jedrzejczyk by decision.

(#14) Brock Steve (9-2, 146lbs) vs. (#17) Umberto “Gorro” Grena (14-20, 169lbs)

A win last time out for Brock Steve made it a perfect two in a row since joining the WVTFL and handed him his first entry into the power rankings at number fourteen.

Facing him tonight is natural welterweight Umberto Grena who is also building a small streak of two wins currently and returns to the cage after a fantastic TKO victory over Russian behemoth Magnus Fjeld.

Steve has the better record, Grena has the experience and will have proven quite a point after his last victory. On paper Steve looks to be the more advanced of the two but Grena might be a good shout as an outside underdog here.

Hank “Hill” Jones (8-7, 189lbs) vs. Bon Adrien De Moncey (3-1, 184lbs)

Hank Jones returns to the cage after an impressive, come from behind victory in his WVTFL debut. Showing a well rounded, willing to fight anywhere skill set, Jones looks to continue on from that performance and make a push to beyond the middle of the current roster.

He’ll face MMA newcomer Bon Adrien De Moncey who was also victorious in his debut against a far more experienced competitor. His opponent tonight isn’t quite as season though with 15 professional fights to his name, Jones could still be considered a veteran compared to De Moncey’s 4 pro outings.

Both fighters a roughly the same weight though Hill has spent his career fighting at heavyweight and light-heavyweight while De Moncey has only fought at welterweight. Size shouldn’t be an issue so it should come down to skill and experience. De Moncey has the skill. Hill has the experience. On paper, Hill looks outgunned on the ground and in the wrestling but with his exceptional Muay Thai skills and good record of KO’s on his resume, he will be a real problem on the feet for De Moncey.

Prediction: Jones catches De Moncey at some point by KO. De Moncey has a good shot at this however if he can get the fight to the floor.

Gosha Lopez (9-5, 135lbs) vs. Johnny Walker (10-7-2, 170lbs)

Last time out, Gosha Lopez made his WVTFL debut fighting under new management for the first time. It wasn’t the start that he had hoped for but there were certainly some positives that he could take away from his decision loss to Alexey Markov.

Tonight he’ll face Johnny Walker who might well be feeling a little disappointed not to be returning with a win after his draw with King Murhaa. Walker dominated the first round and was up 10-8 but took his foot off the gas in the remaining two rounds to give Murhaa two 10-9 rounds adding up the a unanimous draw.

Prediction: Lopez will be giving up around thirty-five pounds in this one which isn’t as bad as his last. Walker looks to be the better fighter on the feet where as Lopez really does stand out as a grappler first and foremost. If Lopez can avoid trading with Walker standing and get the fight to the floor, he stands a good chance of picking up his first win here. Lopez by submission.

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 9

(27th April 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas)

MAIN EVENT

(#1) Comeon Hitme (14-14, 215lbs) vs. (#3) Anthony “The Animal” Griffith (14-9, 265lbs)

Both Comeon Hitme and Anthony Griffith shocked the WVTFL fans as they picked up huge underdog victories against heavy favourites in their last match ups.

Hitme was able to usurp the early #1 spot from John Braddock when he capitalised on a tactical error from the fearsome heavyweight banger and Griffith put on a dominant display against veteran toughman Fletch Brandis.

This should be a great fight. Hitme can seemingly do it all and will have many options to choose from where as Griffith seems to do only one thing but what he does, he does very well. Hitme’s grappling advantage might be the deciding factor in this one IF he can get past Griffith’s heavy handed ways.

CO-MAIN EVENT

(#7) Jack “The Hunk” Dawson (15-11, 270lbs) vs. (#19) Paul “The Future” Sight (9-8, 192lbs)

A perfect run for Dawson so far who has impressed by picking up both a submission and TKO victory in his first two WVT fights. Perhaps something big could be on the horizon for this former IFC prospect?

He’ll face Paul Sight who will be making his debut here after a lacklustre run over at TAFC where he managed a 2-2 record. Overall he is 9-8 and does have a strong percentage of KO victories to his name.

On paper, Dawson looks to be the better fighter and is definitely the better grappler but as mentioned before, Sight does have power in his hands and Dawson’s chin has been found wanting before. Can Sight, a small middleweight, take down the rotund monster super-heavyweight Dawson?

Pacer “The Turnip” Dalton (8-9, 220lbs) vs. Oleg “Easy B” Liguy (9-12, 185lbs)

One of my favourite fighters in the game makes his first appearance inside the WVT cage and he is ready to put asses to sleep! Known for his coma inducing lay and pray wrestling tactics, Dalton has frustrated many an opponent in his career and the general consensus is that if you can’t handle his wrestling, you will end up on the wrong side of a decision loss.

His opponent is Oleg Liguy who is still searching for his first win since arriving here. Liguy is something of a ground fighter himself so he will have a decent shot at Dalton it must be said but with it well known that Liguy is feeling pretty burnt out and jaded right now, his chances against a motivated Dalton are a lot less

Cyrius “The Snake” Python (11-10, 167lbs) vs. Petchuangtong Sitsongrit (2-2, 157lbs)

Experience takes on youth when 11-10 Python meets 2-2 Sitsongrit. Both fighters have managed to go 1-1 so far here in the WVTFL and will be coming in off of a win.

Python has much more experience and ability on the ground and really looking at it, is a lot more well rounded but Sitsongrit has some wonderful Muay Thai skills which could cause a lot of problems for an all rounder like Python.

Bunnur Marbleforge (8-3, 185lbs) vs. Marcin “Prince” Vanna (12-12, 155lbs)

Bunnar Marbleforge has now racked up two wins in a row at the WVTFL with his last being an impressive submission win over ferocious striker Oscar Meyer. The win surprised many and put Marbleforge on the fringe of the power rankings so it’s likely that another win here tonight would hand him his first official entry.

His opponent Marcin Vanna is also two wins out of two currently with his most recent being a submission win over BJJ Brown Belt Akkan Kubilay

This is likely to be a submission chess match with both fighters favouring that aspect of the fight game over anything else. Neither is much of a striker but Marbleforge does have a clear edge there so it’s possible we may see him try to win the fight there before even worrying about the ground.

Crack Head “Roks” (14-16, 153lbs) vs. “The” Chad Yonic” (3-1, 160lbs)

Crack Head returns to the cage off the back of slick submission win over Lukasz Patryk. Having gone 1-1 so far since arriving in the WVTFL, Head looks as though he will be continuing his trend of more of loss 50/50 wins and losses though right now he will likely have an eye on evening out his 14-16 record.

He faces natural featherweight youngster Chad Yonic, who looked good in his debut fight against light-heavyweight David Dupius. Taking the fight to the ground, Yonic looked ferocious as he battered his opponent with strikes forcing the referee to stop the fight seconds from the end of the first round.

Crack Head definitely has the experience here and should provide a stern test for the youngster Yonic. He definitely cannot be overlooked and despite his general apathy towards the fight game currently, could be a handful both standing and on the ground. This will be a very interesting test for Yonic and a good indication of his short term prospects

Jimmy “El Terror” Henderson (7-10, 217lbs) vs. Spas “The Hammer” Spasov (6-9-1, 159lbs)

Jimmy Henderson hasn’t done so well in his previous few fights and is actually riding a five fight losing streak. He did look a little better in his last fight against Cyrius Python where he lost a decision but obviously will still be looking to improve from there.

He faces Spas Spasov who made his debut in his last fight and despite losing a unanimous decision showed that he had some real fight in him and put on a great show for the crowd.

Spasov will be giving up a decent amount of weight in this one and that will be difficult to overcome in itself. Overall though, many believe Spasov to be the more professional and serious of the two and if he can figure out a way of dealing with Henderson’s extra bulk, has a good shot of picking up his first win here at the WVTFL.

Jakov Pavlovic (3-0, 175lbs) vs. “Mighty Mo” Mohhamed Iman (3-1, 225lbs)

A battle of two up and coming youngsters next as undefeated welterweight takes on 3-1 Mohhamed Iman. Pavlovic made a successful debut last time out when he defeated BJJ Brown Belt Abraham Lawrence while Iman actually suffered his first defeat in his last fight.

Likely to be another ground war, Pavlovic will look to negate the submission skills of Iman and grind him out with strikes on the floor where as Iman will want to add to his two submission victories already.

Mike Haggar (1-0, 266lbs) vs. Kewin Wibowo (1-1, 190lbs)

What an interesting fight this one should be. Two young fighters still learning their craft. Hagger, a hulking heavyweight wrestler and Wibowo, an athletic middleweight BJJ brown belt.

Both fighters got off to winning starts here in their WVTFL debuts so confidence will be high for each of them coming into this one. We anticipate a likely ground war with Haggar looking to grind Wibowo down over time and Wibowo looking to tire Haggar out and perhaps clamp down on a limb at some point.

Prediction: Wibowo’s first time fighting such a heavier fighter and while he may have been fine in the gym, things will be different here. Mike Haggar wins by decision

Vinnie Sixx (6-12, 255lbs) vs. Michael MP (7-11, 274lbs)

It would be wise not to blink in this one as two big natural heavyweights go toe to toe inside of the cage.

Vinnie Sixx has some very good hands, that is undeniable, but his questionable chin has let him down during his career and resulted in some long slumps in between wins. He looks to be fighting smarter these days however and not only relying on his boxing. Perhaps this will lead to greater success for the New York native?

On the other side of the cage will be Michael MP. MP has spent over half of his career fighting in the QFC system where he managed to win just slightly more than he lost but since turning pro, he has struggled and has managed to win only one of his seven fights in organised bouts. Currently on a five fight slump including his failed WVTFL debut, MP must feel like he needs a win in this one.

Sixx looks to be slightly ahead in most areas and also in the better spirits of late. MP might just have lost all interest in the fight game but with seven KO’s out of seven wins he will still pose a threat as long as he is standing.

Prediction: This one might be quick. Both fighters have power but neither have the best of chins. Whoever lands first wins. The bookies seem to believe that will likely be Sixx

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 10

(4th May 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

(#6) Hamish McTavish (14-10, 292lbs) vs. (#10) Fanta Coco (15-12, 230lbs)

The main event of the evening is super-heavyweight Scottish bruiser Hamish McTavish taking on experienced Polish striker Fanta Coco

McTavish is one of a handful of fighters that have managed to win two in a row since the WVTFL inception and really must be considered a decent bet to become one of the first to fight for the yet to be awarded World Vale Tudo Fight League championship. Of course it is still early days but his victory over well hyped Fausto Carsara a couple of weeks ago definitely raised his stock in the eyes of the upper brass.

His opponent Fanta Coco is well known to the matchmakers here being an alumni of the former Iron Man Fighting Championships. Coco is a solid fighter and has looked good against all but the very top of the competition he has faced. He made his WVTFL debut against Diyorbek Nurudinov and did well to resist the better wrestlers attempts to get the fight to the ground and winning by TKO late in the third round

Coco may feel that this is a similar fight to his last and that the same approach would serve him well. McTavish is possibly known to be a little bit more vicious on the ground that Nurudinov but by and large is still a ground and pound wrestler. McTavish has a respectable level of striking in both boxing and muay thai but it’s unlikely that he will use that in any other way but defensively while trying to take a more dangerous striker out of his comfort zone.

With McTavish on a two fight streak he definitely has a little more to lose in terms of title picture. As far as favourites go, Coco has shown that he can win these fights but they will be hard fought. For McTavish, this fight will either be extremely easy or extremely difficult and it will all depend on whether he can do better than Nurudinov and keep the fight on the ground.

(#4) Mitsugu Takeishi (9-1, 330lbs) vs. (#9) Chief “Little” Foot (10-7, 275lbs)

One of the most colourful characters currently signed to the WVTFL in Mitsugu Takeishi makes his return and he’ll be facing the now 2-0 in the org, Chief Foot.

Takeishi sports an impressive record of nine wins and one loss and made a big splash during his organisational debut not so long ago. Facing featherweight veteran William Fidnhasieunch, Takeishi showed his power with a series of solid shots to the head and body that knocked Fidnhasieunch out cold in just fifty seconds. Already coming in with significant buzz, the win was enough to launch Takeishi straight into the #2 spot at the time of writing and puts him, among of few others, on a collision course for the vacate open weight title.

The smaller man in the cage this evening, and that is saying something, will be two-hundred and seventy-five pound kickboxer Chief “Little” Foot though there is nothing little about the way that Chief goes about business. With a 90% knockout record in his ten victories, Foot has a reputation for going all out in his fights which has sometimes left him open to damage himself which in turn has lead to the fight being stopped for cuts.

This is a fight that will definitely be one to watch. Two massive strikers both in decent form with the winner taking a big step closer to competing for the title.

Takeishi is guided by top management and that will likely give him a considerable advantage going into this fight but he will still need to be wary as with guys this big, it only takes one shot to turn things sour

Shawn Griffin (13-13, 168lbs) vs. William “The Prince” Fidnhasieunch (20-13, 143lbs)

A humbling moment for Shawn Griffin in his last bout where he lost inside two rounds to heavyweight striker Chief Foot. Griffin had previously entered in the power rankings at #13 but now with the loss drops to #20.

His opponent William Fidnhasieunch has found life as a smaller fighter in an open weight world even tougher and is still searching for his first win here at the moment. So far the flyweight grappler has only met two-hundred pounders so tonight we will see how he does with less of an advantage.

Griffin is a little ahead in the world rankings and will need to fight hard to keep above Fidnhasieunch. On paper, Fidnhasieunch looks to be the better grappler which is really what Griffin would probably consider himself. On the feet though, while neither would consider themselves to be striking aficionados, Griffin would have a much better shot at picking up a KO from there than Fidnhasieunch would.

Ritchie “El Pinoy” Souza (13-14, 170lbs) vs. Brandon “Hippopotamus” Bowen (8-6, 300lbs)

Making his WVTFL debut tonight is natural lightweight fighter Ritchie Souza. Fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, Souza has had a nomadic career thus far that has seen him within the ranks of many different organisations all over the world. With a record of 13-14, many would consider Souza something of an experienced journeyman at this point though Souza might take issue with that. It’s certainly true that his best form had come at the beginning stages of his career with his recent form not being so great. Currently on a three fight losing streak, Souza will no doubt be hoping to get of to a good start in his new home.

His opponent for tonight is three-hundred pound Brandon Bowen. Rumour’s are circulating that Bowen isn’t currently held in the highest regard after he bizarrely turned down a fight against a much smaller opponent in One Fortytwo. With his management developing a reputation for being difficult to work with it is unlikely that we will be seeing Bowen for much longer.

On paper this should be a fun match up. Bowen definitely has the edge on the feet and is a ferocious striker when he is dishing it out. Currently sporting a 100% record of KO finishes in his eight win, Souza will need to be on red alert for incoming bombs. On the ground is where Souza shines and he will no doubt be hoping to add to his eight submission victories already. Has has some remarkable wrestling skills to complement his black belt in BJJ and if he can get this fight on the floor, he should be able to carve Bowen apart.

Sam Sung “Galaxy” (7-2, 278lbs) vs. Oscar “Bologna” Meyer (7-8, 270lbs)

Sam Sung returns to the cage after being stunned by underdog Brock Steve at WVT5. It was only the second loss for the young South Korean BJJ brown belt but one that surprised a great many people.

Tonight he faces a tough match up against pure striker Oscar Meyer who comes into this bout with a record of 1-1 since arriving at WVT and who will be looking to put Sung to sleep early.

This will be something of a grappler versus striker showdown although Sung does have a respectable level of striking and Meyer is competent in the wrestling department. Sung will need to approach Meyer with caution as in seven victories all have been by KO and against heavyweights and super-heavyweights alike. Power will not be problem for Meyer so Sung will need to make to make considerations coming into this one and execute his game plan to perfection

Blitz “88” Krieg (10-16, 300lbs) vs. Noam “Scottish Superstar” Dar (10-12, 178lbs)

Super-heavyweight banger Blitz Kreig is back in action again after suffering a cut stoppage to Kabala Magaluff in his last fight. At 300lbs and with a perfect record of KO’s in his victories, the fans are always excited to Krieg in the cage.

Facing him will be veteran journeyman Noam Dar who is still looking for his first win since arriving at WVT. After a lacklustre unanimous decision loss to Altintop Palonesess in his last fight, he might well be forced into something more lively by Krieg.

A pure grappler versus striker showdown with either of these two fighters having a good chance of victory.

Raheem “The Dream” Nazir (10-25, 210lbs) vs. Petr “The Bee” Kotrc (4-12, 134lbs)

Raheem Nazir broke an unfortunate eight fight losing streak last time out with a submission win over Perdue Williams. While it won’t be enough to get anywhere near the power rankings, it is a start and tonight he’ll have another opportunity to impress against Petr Kotrc.

Kotrc himself is looking to snap out of a terrible run of form which currently stands at seven loss. So far at the WVTFL he is 0-2 but if he can deal with the weight advantage of Nazir on the ground, he stands a decent chance of picking up his fifth career win tonight.

Abraham Lawrence (0-3, 195lbs) vs. Perdue “The Spider” Willshire (5-13, 142lbs)

Youngster Lawrence has struggled against so far in his time here and is still looking for his first win inside of the WVT cage. His opponent Perdue Willshire has found the going equally as tough here and is also looking for his first taste of victory since arriving.

Willshire definitely has the experience to take this one but if Lawrence can overcome that and put his striking together, he might just be able to catch the smaller man on the feet.

Ignatius Thistlewhite (10-16, 152lbs) vs. “The Poet” Phillip Baroni (5-7-2, 199lbs)

Ignatius Thistlewhite still searches for his first win here in the WVTFL and tonight he’ll face another tough challenge in the form of Phillip Baroni. Though both standing 175cm tall, it’ll be Baroni with the weight advantage of around fifty pounds and this will only serve to make him more dangerous on the feet. Nether fighter is a novice in any one area but Thistlewhite is unquestionably the better grappler and he will be looking to end this fight on the floor and well out of the way of striking distance of his opponent. Whether or not he possesses enough wrestling to get Baroni there is what we are here to see as if not, it’s likely to be a painful experience for the smaller fighter and one that is likely to end in a knockout.

Steven “Cap” Rogers (1-1, 162lb) vs. Crazy “Pitbull” Boco (5-12, 185lbs)

Steven Rogers makes his WVTFL debut after being signed for a little while now. A natural lightweight fighter with a record of 1-1, he will face a seasoned journeyman veteran in Crazy Boco who comes into the fight on a three fight losing streak and will also be making his debut.

Both fighters are evenly matched skill wise but with Rogers having a small advantage standing and Boco on the ground.

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 11

(4th May 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas)

MAIN EVENT

Paea Talanoa (11-6, 280lbs) vs. Maxxy Baby (26-11-1, 153lbs)

Paea Talanoa makes his WVTFL debut after spending the majority of his career over at what is now Empire based in New York. Currently on a two fight winning streak that includes a victory over current WVT #12 fighter Awut Smith. Perhaps a rematch could be in their future here?

He takes on fellow debutante Maxxy Baby who is also joining after a stint at Empire. He managed a decent 3-2 record there and is also former Island end of season champion.

Talanoa is a submission specialist with a perfect 100% record of submission finishes in his eleven professional MMA bouts. He is also a TWGC finalist and a BJJ Red Belt. It is safe to say that Baby will want no part of him on the ground and will in fact want to keep as much distance between them as possible. He will need to rely on his assumed agility and quickness advantage and perhaps look to take the bigger fighter into the deeper waters of the later rounds

Ray “The King of Kings” Mancini (18-16, 101lbs) vs. Max “And” Paddy (13-14, 170lbs)

The smallest fighter in the league, Ray Mancini makes his return to the cage and he’ll be welcoming submission grappler Max Paddy.

Mancini, also one of the longest active fighters currently signed to the org, is coming into this fight on a two fight win streak. After a spirited but losing effort against Monte Zuma in his debut here, Mancini has picked up two TKO wins in a row against decent competition.

His opponent comes to us with a record of 13-14. He has fought in a few different organisations with probably his greatest run of form being early in his career. Lately, Paddy has very much gone 50/50 though he will no doubt be hoping that he can do a little better in his new home.

Any fight with a man weighing only one-hundred and one pounds is going to be interesting but this one will especially test Mancini’s ground skills again as Paddy is a good level above in jiu-jitsu. On the feet however it would likely be all Mancini and Paddy will do well to avoid the quick stinging rights and lefts of the man who calls himself “the king of kings”

Alexey “Black Panther” Markov (7-9, 223lbs) vs. Greg “The Gronk” Bell (14-21, 300lbs)

Markov has gone 1-1 since arriving in the WVTFL and both against good competition. His last fight was a first round TKO loss to James Gregor of which Markov will no doubt want to avenge this time around. He’ll be taking on Gregor’s stablemate Greg Bell who has also fared similarly to Markov since beginning his time here and will also be coming into the fight off of the back of a KO loss to Awut Smith

On paper, Markov looks to be far more skilled than Gregor though rarely does that tell the whole tale. Markov has developed something of a reputation for inconsistency during his career and probably is fair to say that he hasn’t always performed to his best ability. Bell on the other hand, whilst being every bit as up and down as Markov, has arguably done better than would be expected just by looking at him and has racked up some decent wins in his time including one over current WVTFL front runner Hamish McTavish some time back

Bell doesn’t really look to have any one advantage anywhere but you could probably expect him to do far better on the ground than if the fight was to stay on the feet. A hard fight to predict but Markov will likely be the slight favourite

“Gyilkos Mokusok” Altintop Palonesess (8-19, 154lbs) vs. Kabala “The Wizard” Magaluff (5-2, 194lbs

A big challenge for experienced veteran Altintop Palanesess as he takes on the enigmatic Kabala Magaluff. Palonesess has gone 1-1 in his time here so far. A submission loss to Umberto Grena in his debut and then a unanimous decision win over Noam Dar in his last. Generally, Palaonesess has lost more than he has won so an early even record isn’t doing to badly by usual standards.

His opponent Kabala Magaluff will be making only his eighth professional appearance inside of the cage despite being involved in MMA for quite some time now. He did disappear for a time and returned under new management and so far has managed to go 2-0 in his new home.

A few writers have already suggested tha Magaluff could be a dark horse in the WVTFL and so far his ground and pound tactics have gotten him off to a good start. He will come in as favourite but Palonesess does have a competent striking game and also a smattering of submission wins to keep Magaluff on his toes. With Magaluffs absence from the game at a point it might well be that he still has some holes in his game and if he does, Palonesess will be looking to expose them.

Papa John (5-7-1, 140lbs) vs. King Murhaa (8-8-1, 210lbs)

Natural flyweight Papa John makes his return after an entertaining draw with Phillip Baroni. Previous to that John picked up a cool second round TKO victory against Crack Head making him technically undefeated since arriving in the World Vale Tudo Fight League.

Standing across the cage from him will be King Murhaa. A natural light-heavyweight with some elite wrestling skills. Murhaa struggled last time out against a much lighter but also much more experienced Ray Mancini. It will be interesting to whether it was the weight that Murhaa struggled with or whether it was the former.

As far as their time here, John has fared slightly better in results alone but overall in the their last five fights, their form is quite similar. They have both struggled since moving away from their respective ID orgs which really isn’t to be unexpected at this stage. Both still have the potential to be good fighters and though this is an open weight fight, it will be something closer to what they really should be looking for.

Akkan Kubilay (11-3, 161lbs) vs. Magnus “Russian Destroyer” Fjeld (15-17, 343lbs)

After a good start to his WVTFL career, Akkan Kubilay suffered a slight setback in his second fight when he lost by submission to Marcin Vanna. The loss would have frustrated Kubilay who was ahead on the judges score cards up until that point.

He’ll get another opportunty to impress tonight as he takes on Russian monster, 343lb Magnus Fjeld. Fjeld surprised many in his last fight when he lost to Umberto Grena by strikes. It’s possible that the weight played against him as he went deep into the third round but regardless the loss was considered a shock to many.

Both fighters are in good form overall with only the one loss in their last five fights. Kubilay is a submission machine and will no doubt be looking to get this fight on the floor as soon as possible. Fjeld is something of an all rounder but will have a big advantage on the feet. His biggest weapon however is going to be his size and once again you get the feeling that he either finishes this fight quick or gasses out later on.

Maciej “Highlander” Gorski (7-20, 156lbs) vs. Ryan “The Hammer” Lock (6-17, 196lbs)

Maciej Gorski picked up the seventh win of his career last time out slightly improving his record to 7-20. He beat Petr Kotrc by split decision in a decent scrap that saw the majority of action on the mat.

He’ll be taking on fellow journeyman Ryan Lock who was able to snap a dire streak of thirteen loses in his last fight giving him a similar record of 6-17.

An interesting match up between two fighters that usually find themselves opposite some ageing former killer or some hungry up and coming prospect. This will be a rare chance for them to really put it all on the line against an equally skilled opponent.

Android Seventeen Version Two (0-3, 145lbs) vs. Cameron Joyce (0-0, 136lbs)

It still remain to be seen if the second version of Android Seventeen is a product of shoddy programming or just basically insane. Choosing to fight against far more experienced opponents, it’s no surprise that he is still searching for his first win in three fights but tonight that could change as he will actually be the favourite against debutante Cameron Joyce. All that is known about Joyce is that he is a BJJ Brown Belt the USA making his first professional appearance.

On paper, this couldn’t be more of a grappler versus striker match up. Neither fighter has much else to offer aside from their speciality.

Lukasz “Cichy” Patryk (8-21, 208lbs) vs. “S.H.I.G” Combato Bot One (1-2, 300lbs)

Lukasz Patryk has gone 1-1 so far and currently sits near the bottom end of the roster. He’ll be facing newly signed resident punching bag Comato Bot One who is something of an all rounder.

Patryk will have a slight advantage in the stand up but whether he will be taking the fight as seriously as he should is another thing completely. An upset could be on the cards here.

Wold Vale Tudo Fight League 12

(Saturday 11th May 2019 - Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

(#12) Fausto “Mastino Napoletano” Carsara (17-6, 200lbs) vs. (#NR) Dominique “Alligator” Bell (21-16, 139lbs)

Fausto Carsara came into the WVTFL with a significant fan following and made an instant impact when he took out William Fidnhasieunch by first round TKO. Moving straight up to the top area of the rankings many wondered aloud if Carsara would be making a play for the vacant title but all of that faded away when he lost to heavyweight Hamish McTavish and slipped right back down the rankings as those around him kept up their winning streaks.

He’ll face Dominique Bell who returns after suffering a brain rattling eleven second KO loss in his last fight. Bell has struggled against the bigger brawlers that he has faced and really must figure out a way to get these dangerous opponents off of their feet and into his speciality of submission wrestling. At only 139lbs, Bell is likely to find himself at a weight disadvantage most of the time and this match up will be no different. He’ll be giving up some sixty pounds to a KO loving opponent. Bell NEEDS for this fight to take place on the floor otherwise it’s likely to be another costly CTE scan afterwards.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Carlos “Pitbull” Ruas (11-7, 280lbs) vs. Diyorbek Nurudinov (12-12, 270lbs)

A battle of the big boys with WVTFL newcomer Carlos Ruas taking on elite Uzbek wrestler Diyorbek Nurudinov.

Carlos “Pitbull” Ruas arrives after a somewhat underwhelming run over at Empire where he managed to go 1-2. Previous to that however, Ruas was a mainstay at the now defunct CCF in Rio where he captured the heavyweight title and successfully defended it on one occasion. With some obvious potential, Ruas just might be biding his time while he can catch up to the higher competition outside of those ID restricted orgs and what better place to do so than the WVTFL?

His opponent is Uzbek olympic wrestler star, Diyorbek Nurudinov who dispite looking absolutely fearsome on paper, isn’t actually in the best of form lately. Nurudinov has managed only one win in six and was unsuccessful in his WVT debut losing late in the third round by TKO to Fanta Coco. Nurudinov looked comfortable on his feet and perhaps should have trusted a little more in his hands as opposed to relying far too much on his wrestling to get the take down but he is still young and has room to improve many areas.

Lalama “Seal” Amana (15-12, 167lbs) vs. “I Weigh” One Fortytwo (10-14, 142lbs)

Another former IFC veteran, Lalama Amana makes his WVTFL debut tonight and he takes on featherweight One Fortytwo.

Amana knows something of fighting out of his weight class after a brief spell fighting in IFC’s 205lbs class where he managed to just fine going 2-1. From there he dropped down to 155 and actually put together a nice little run of form before the org shut its doors for good. Amana moved over to Empire in New York but struggled with the step up in competition and left after going 1-3. He arrives in his new home with an overall record of 15-12.

Rolling out the welcome wagon for him is another IFC alumni, One Fortytwo. Fortytwo started his career in the IFC’s openweight division so he knows exactly what to expect in these types of match ups. Fortytwo isn’t coming in with the best of form having only won one in his last five. His debut here at WVT was a disappointing submission loss to an experienced Evgeni Lomachenko but with that out of the way, Fortytwo can hopefully settle down and concentrate and moving up the rankings.

(#15) Awut “Klaew Kla” Smith (10-4, 273lbs) vs. (#NR) Gosha Lopez (10-5, 135lbs)

So far so good for Awut Smith. Currently riding a three fight winning streak after taking on a new management team, Smith has picked up two of those three wins inside of the WVTFL cage and sits midway in the power rankings at #12 and going in the right direction. If he continues on this current path of brutality it surely wouldn’t be out of the question to find him fighting for the title.

To get there he will need to defeat talented grappler Gosha Lopez. Lopez too has started life under a new manager but it is still early days deliberate on that one. Currently 1-1 in WVTFL action, Lopez sports a similar record to Smith as well as similar form. Three wins in his last five.

Smith will likely control the stand up here while Lopez is clearly the superior grappler and despite some wonderful boxing skills will want to avoid Smith on the feet like the plague. The general feeling is very much that if Lopez is unable or unwilling to take Smith down, he is likely going to go for a nap.

Ake “Sumozilla” Bono (4-0, 300lbs) vs. (#19) Cyrius “The Snake” Python (12-10, 167lbs)

Ake Bono is in great form right now and is also yet to be defeated. He is also a late starter to the MMAtycoon world and will be taking his first shot at a much more experienced opponent in Cyrius Python. Python might not like the term journeyman being used to explain his career and might justifiable feel that he has had enough success to put him beyond such a label. While that may have been true early in his career, the past year hasn’t been much of a highlight with Python languishing in the wild amateur ranks of the QFC system. Still, so far here at the WVTFL, Python has managed a not insignificant 2-1 record, has entered the power rankings at #19 and poses a very stern test for undefeated Bono.

Can Bono overcome such a huge chasm in experience and time in the game? We will find out tonight

Jan “Champion” Jedrzejczyk (12-13, 147lbs) vs. Ickey “Who Dey” Woods (13-9, 124lbs)

It’s not too often you see a legit Bantamweight take on a natural strawweight but that’s exactly what’s on offer here tonight.

Jan “Champion” has struggled so far in open weight format but it’s fair to say that things haven’t been going well for the Polish fighter for some time now. 0-2 here at the WVTFL but only one win out of his last four in his own weight class. In fact you’d have to go back to over a year ago to find the last time Jedrzejczyk was showing any signs of real potential. Perhaps the game has passed him by and retirement should be a consideration? Or perhaps the next run of form is just around the corner.

Either way, he’ll welcome WVT newcomer Ickey Woods who joins us after a disappointing run over at Empire. Actually, Wood’s was a part of The Global Colosseum before it was taken over and re branded as Empire. Things started off very well for the miniature submission artist and many argue that he was due a title shot after putting on a great run of victories. It just wasn’t to be for him however and as the competition grew around him, Wood’s found himself outgunned more and more often and over the past six months his form has been a far cry from the start of his career. One win in his last six with the majority of them being by decision. Perhaps the move down just might reinvigorate him.

A tough fight for both fighters though Jedrzejczyk would definitely have the harder time should the fight hit the floor.

Victor “Malas Noticias” Mordino (6-14-1, 180lbs) vs Oleg “Easy B” Liguy (9-13, 185lbs)

A recent signing to the very varied WVT ranks is Spanish journeyman and BJJ Purple Belt Victor Mordino. With over double the amount of losses to wins, it’s fair to say that immediate fireworks aren’t expected from Mordino but we do expect to see some entertaining fights from the scrappy middleweight. With a win over current WVT #19 Cyrius Python, perhaps Mordino might set his sights on reaching the lofty heights of the WVT power rankings.

His opponent will be Oleg Liguy who is still searching for his first win since his debut back at the start of WVT. Liguy has fought some extremely tough competition that includes #2 John Braddock and current #20 Dominique Bell. His last fight he managed to hang on against grappling blanket Pacer Dalton to a decision loss. With such a tough start to his time here, Liguy may feel relieved to face some “less stiff” competition.

Both fighters are around the same weight and pretty even on paper skill wise. Similar form and similar finishing percentages in their wins. This should be a tough but close match up.

Crack Head “Roks” (14-17, 153lbs) vs. Bruno “The” Beast (2-2, 210lbs)

Crack Head has been a little up and down so far during his short time here and comes in with a record of 1-2 and alternating loses with wins. He isn’t yet scrapping at the bottom of the WVT roster but he will need to keep picking up wins if he is to avoid that fate completely.

His opponent is Bruno “The” Beast who has just picked up his first win after two early losses but looks set to leave the organisation after this fight.

Beast looks a little better on the feet but Head has a good pedigree on the ground and is far more experienced. That should hold him in good stead going into this one but it looks to be pretty even overall.

Devin “The Conqueror” Watkins (8-15, 180lbs) vs. Vinnie Sixx (6-13, 255lbs)

Another fighter who will be making his final appearance in the WVT and perhaps hanging them up for good is welterweight Devin Watkins. Watkins has struggled to get going since arriving here and really has found himself second best for most of his career and perhaps wisely has decided to pursue other things.

He’ll face elite boxer Vinnie Sixx who has also failed to live up to his on paper potential and is also still searching for his first win here.

A tough send off for Watkins but with both fighters struggling, it really could go either way.

Wold Vale Tudo Fight League 13

(Saturday 18th May 2019 - Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

Main Event

Dai Zexi (14-4, 220lbs) vs.(#7) Evgeni Lomachenko (18-17, 144lbs)

One of the biggest signings to the World Vale Tudo Fight League so far has to be Chinese grappler Dai Zexi. With a record of 14-4, Zexi has proven himself everywhere he has gone. Starting in the open weight IFC new blood division, Zexi made it all the way to the finals of a sixteen man tournament before suffering his first loss. From there he moved to Sydney Fights going 4-0 early before a couple of tough decisions blighted his record. Perhaps the most impressive and significant part of his career however has just happened over at Empire where Dexi managed to more than hold his own in the face of much older and more experienced competition, leaving there with a 3-1 record. To say that big things are expected of Zexi here in the WVTFL would be an understatement.

Following an similar path is natural flyweight Evgeni Lomachenko. An experienced grappler from Russia who also spent a large portion of his career at IFC before moving over to Empire. Lomachenko faced a who’s who of talent there and though proven difficult to finish, didn’t actually manage to pick up a win with his best result being a draw against Jonathan Davis. Lomachenko has already made his debut here and was able to move past One Fortytwo with a quick submission victory that also saw him enter the power rankings relatively high up at #5. With a large following and solid reputation, it is no wonder that the tenacious smaller fighter was able to do so.

This should be an absolutely ferocious match up with the biggest difference being a weight advantage of around seventy-five pounds in favour of Zexi. On paper there isn’t much between them aside from a small striking advantage for Zexi which isn’t likely to come into play very much in this one. No, this fight is very much likely to be lost and won on the ground and with both fighters having very similar styles, it will be very interesting to see how the weight plays into it. Will it help Zexi control the smaller fighter? Or will we see a speed advantage from Lomachenko translate into something dangerous?

Co-Main Event

(#9) “The Hunk” Jack Dawson (16-11, 270lbs) vs. (#5) Akamu Kalani (10-6, 240lbs)

Could this be the age of “The Hunk”? After toiling away first in the old IFC new blood division and then in the wild lands of the IFC Open Weight format, Jack Dawson might just have it all figured out when it comes to this type of fighting. Currently 3-0 since arriving here, Dawson has looked impressive after finishing a plethora of though opponents all by first round stoppage, two of which have earned him “of the night” honours. So who is next for “The Hunk”?

That would be former Island heavyweight champion, Akamu Kalani. He made a big statement upon arrival when he defeated experienced veteran Dominique Bell in just eleven seconds and entering the power rankings straight in at #5. He now gets an opportunity to make an even bigger splash if he can take out Jack Dawson.

Both fighters match up well and both have some advantages both in stand up and grappling. Kalani is the more prolific knockout artist however and for as well as Dawson is doing currently, his record of KO losses cannot be ignored. If Kalani goes headhunting and connects it’s likely to be a bad night for Dawson but if Dawson can keep doing what he has been doing then there just might be no stopping him

(#13) Ray “King of Kings” Mancini (19-16, 99lbs) vs. Alexy “Black Panther” Markov (8-9, 223lbs)

After suffering an early defeat to an incredibly tough opponent, the smallest fighter on the roster Ray Mancini has posted three straight wins in a row and has now entered the power rankings at #13. Weighing in at only ninety-nine pounds, Mancini is one of a handful of fighters currently proving that the little guys can compete in a big man’s world and tonight he’ll be facing very tough challenge in the form of Alexy Markov.

Markov has managed a 2-1 record so far and has a well developed skill set that makes him a very tough opponent for anyone. He doesn’t have the experience or gym time of Mancini however and that could be significant in this match up.

Mancini looks to be the favourite in this one however, many are making clear their concern with his weight and the difference Markov will have on him with many believing that one shot from Markov could lead to severe brain damage.

(#14) Pacer “The Turnip” Dalton (9-9, 220lbs) vs. (#15) Marcin “Prince” Vanna (13-12, 155lbs)

Pacer Dalton brings his elite wrestling back to the cage and it has already gotten him off to a good start in the WVTFL even if his performance didn’t earn him many new fans. Going head to head with grappler Oleg Liguy, Dalton controlled the fight from start to finish and got the nod from the judges after three rounds of pure grappling. He’ll be tested once more in that department as he takes on in form Marcin Vanna.

Vanna has now racked up three submission victories in a row since joining the WVTFL and has done well to enter the power rankings at #15. It must be said that this is far beyond expectations for the 34 year old purple belt but definitely an exciting run to watch play out.

Can Dalton’s controlling, top heavy wrestling shut down the submission hunter Vanna or will Vanna keep his run going with another submission to add to his collection of twelve already?

Brandon “Hippopotamus” Bowen (8-7, 300lbs) vs. Greg “The Gronk” Bell (14-22, 300lbs)

Next up we have a battle of behemoths with three-hundred pounders Brandon “Hippopotamus” Bowen taking on Greg “The Gronk” Bell.

Both fighters will be coming into this one off of the back of losses though Bowen seems to have taken things much more to heart than Bell. Rumours abound that Bowen has been moping around the gym just going through the motions at the time of writing but many believe it is nothing that a couple of nice, juicy quarter pounders with cheese couldn’t fix.

On paper this looks to be something of a grappler versus striker match up but in truth it is more to do with Bell’s lack of striking that makes it look as such. Bowen is quite well rounded, though there is no denying striking is his forte while the ground isn’t necessarily so. Bell will have an advantage there and his biggest chance of success. If Bowen can keep upright he might have a shot at cracking that previously thought granite chin of Bells.

Yen “Funky” Askren (12-14-1, 185lbs) vs. King Murhaa (9-8-1, 210lbs)

Things were looking like they had turned a corner for Missouri wrestler Yen Askren after he broke a morale sapping run of seven losses but a bad loss to Ribociclib Kisqali in his last match has once again raised the questions of whether Askren is even cut out for life as a fighter. The natural welterweight has a lot of soul searching to do as he approaches his next challenge.

King Murhaa has also not been in the best of form of late though nothing quite like his opponents woeful streak. Since arriving in the WVTFL, Murhaa as managed a win, a draw and a loss and will no doubt be hoping to add to the “W” column after this fight.

Strangely enough it is Murhaa that has the slightly better grappling credentials and Askren that might just have it in the stand up. Either way it should be competitive wherever the fight goes and really it will come down to who gets things right on the night

“Mighty Mo” Mohhamad Iman (4-1, 225lbs) vs. Magnus “Russian Destroyer” Fjeld (15-18, 343lbs)

Next up, something a little crazy.

Mohhammad Iman has only been involved in the MMAT world for a little over two months and even then, he got into the game late at twenty-five years of age. During that time he has gone on to build a 4-1 record with 2-1 being here in the WVTFL. Now, sitting just outside of the Power Ranking Top Twenty, Iman faces an extraordinary challenge and opportunity to do something just a little special.

His opponents is the vastly more experienced “Russian Destroyer” Magnus Fjeld. Weighing in at 343lbs, Fjeld poses a challenge for any fighter but especially a relative greenhorn in the game. With that said, Fjeld hasn’t looked great in his last couple of fights and his loses have been somewhat surprising. Could this be the perfect opportunity for Iman to shock the MMA world?

“El Terror” Jimmy Henderson makes a triumphant return to action after picking up his first win since signing for the WVTFL. It was also his first win after five straight losses so no doubt Henderson is feeling a great deal of relief at this point.

He’ll be taking on nineteen year old Petchuangtong Sitsongrit who obviously likes to keep active as he’ll be making his sixth professional appearance in only a few months. Very much the “Thai” way of doing things, Sitsongrit continues to get the bulk of his education in the cage and you can see that he is starting to round out his game to compliment his already exceptional Muay Thai skills.

An extremely tough match up for Sitsongrit who will have to contend with not only Henderson’s ring experience but also his superior level of BJJ. Something that Henderson has used to good effect in his wins.

Jimmy “El Terror” Henderson (8-10, 217lbs) vs. Petchuangtong Sitsongrit (2-3, 157lbs)

Jimmy “El Terror” Henderson managed to snap his five fight losing streak and pick up the sixth submission win of his career.

Tonight, he’ll be facing exceptional muay thai fighter Petchuangtong Sistongrit who will be coming into the fight with a WVTFL record of 2-1.

Both fighters share a common win over Spas Spasov recently but with Henderson being the only one out of the two to finish him. Perhaps that may be some indication of how this fight will go down but then again, perhaps not at all.

Mike Hagger (1-1, 266lbs) vs. Spas “The Hammer” Spasov (6-10-1, 159lbs)

Youngster Mike Hagger suffered the first loss of his career last time out but one positive of that is that any pressure of remaining undefeated is now eliminated and he can just now concentrate on getting better and better.

He’ll be facing Spas Spasov who has been fighting his heart out in the lower ranks of the org but has still yet to pick up his first win. With such a determined and wild style it surely won’t be too long before he catches someone but whether it’ll be Hagger or not we will all have to tune in to see.

Petr “The Bee” Kotrc (5-12, 134lbs) vs. Cameron Joyce (1-0, 136lbs)

Another fighter to break a long streak of losses recently is Czech journeyman Petr Kotrc. He sent Raheem Nazir packing from the org and snapping a seven fight skid at the same time.

Tonight he’ll be attempting to help sharpen the skills of youngster Cameron Joyce and provide a tough learning experience for the BJJ Brown Belt. Joyce, who has only one win in the QFC will do well to use this opportunity to gain valuable cage experience.

Wold Vale Tudo Fight League 14

(Saturday 18th May 2019 – Hard Knocks, Los Angeles)

Main Event

(#4) John Braddock (19-5, 285lbs) vs. (#1) Anthony “The Animal” Griffith (15-9, 265lbs)

John Braddock has bounced back superbly after something of a shock upset loss to Comeon Hitme back at WVT5. After his signing to the WVT was announced many believed he would be one of the first to dominate it’s ranks but that loss definitely set him back a good amount. Last time out we saw him going head to head with Fletch Brandis, another fighter of which expectations were not met, and it was there that we once again witnessed Braddock back to his brutal best. A thirty three second first round KO saw “The Hooligan” motor back up the rankings to #2. Tonight he’ll face #1

Anthony “The Animal” Griffith flew under the radar somewhat when he signed to the org but after three wins in a row, has emerged as an early front runner in the vacant title picture. His last fight was a first round KO over the fighter that defeated Braddock, Comeon Hitme. MMAmath doesn’t always count for much but on this occasion it has got people thinking. There is also a rumour that if Griffith were to win here again, then he would be given first crack at said vacant title meaning that there is a lot riding on the result of this one for him.

It’s definitely a tough fight for Griffith as Braddock looks just a little bit ahead in most departments. He is also a proficient KO artist and Griffith has a rather significant amount of KO losses amongst his 9 defeats. Still, he is the number one fighter in the org currently for a reason and he will be extremely movtivated to get a win here tonight. Braddock’s manager has stated that there will be no more setbacks for the heavyweight brawler so this one could end up being bloody.

Co-Main Event

(#3) Paea Talanoa (12-6, 280lbs) vs. (#6) Fanta Coco (16-12, 230lbs)

Arriving from the big leagues over at Empire in New York, Paeo Talanoa was already on a two fight streak and in truth, has been performing at a good level for the better part of sixteen months now. He started with a bang here at the WVTFL too when he defeated Maxxy Baby in their debut fights. He struggled initially on the feet against a smaller, lighter opponent but once he was able to get the fight to the floor it was all she wrote.

Tonight he’ll be facing Fanta Coco, a former TBD heavyweight champion back in the day. Coco is another fighter that has always performed well for the most part but over the past six months there have been many who believe that his best days are behind him. Still, he is 2-0 since arriving here with both coming over very tough opponents. Coco’s last fight was a first round stoppage over in form Hamish McTavish.

Both fighters are currently flying high in the power rankings and both could potentially be seen as title contenders.

Coco has good take down defence and good awareness on the ground which has helped him avoid a single submission loss in his 28 professional fights. Never has he faced a grappler on the level of Talanoa however and it will be extremely exciting to see if he can raise his game on this occasion.

(#10) Maxxy Baby (26-12-1, 153lbs) vs. (#8) Comeon Hitme (14-15, 215lbs)

Next up, two fighters coming in off loses. Maxxy Baby, who made his org debut last time out, was unlucky not to get away with a solid decision win against Paea Talanoa after dominating much of the fight. Up two rounds to zero and with mere seconds to go in the third round, Baby was caught on the ground by some brutal ground and pound. Despite the loss, Baby came in on the power rankings at #10.

His opponent Comeon Hitme suffered his first loss since arriving here when he was KO’d by Anthony Griffith in under two minutes of the first round. This would have disappointed Hitme as previous to that fight he had pulled of a great upset by defeated John Braddock by submission.

An interesting match up considering Hitme’s record of KO’s losses and Baby’s weakness on the ground. Both have the ability to exploit the other but there are questions as to whether Baby can still be powerful considering the weight gap.

(#20) Francisco “The Count” Babyara (12-9, 270lbs) vs. (#14) Brock Steve (10-2, 146lbs)

Babyara was back to his usual self in his last bout managing to take out Niko Marcell by KO early in round one. Fourteen seconds to be precise. Overall though Babyara hasn’t been in great form lately and has quite a way to go if he is to get back his reputation as a ferocious KO machine from his early IFC days.

His opponent for the evening is up and coming prospect and #14 in the power rankings Brock Steve. At 10-2, Steve doesn’t know very much about losing and he has certainly made sure to keep it that way since arriving in the WVTFL. Currently on a three fight winning streak, Steve is starting to look like a potential contender in the run up to crowning the first WVT champion.

What stands out most about this match up is that fact that while Brock Steve has racked up most of his wins using his superb boxing skills, Francisco Babyara is a step or two above in that regard making it a very dangerous endeavour to try and match him on the feet. That’s without even considering the 123lb weight advantage that Babyara will have. Instead Steve will need to come out of his comfort zone on this one and try to exploit his opponents glaring lack of jiu-jitsu. That would be his best chance of victory by far but whether he will or even can adjust his game that much we will need to wait and see.

William “The Prince” Fidnhasieunch (21-13, 143lbs) vs. Kabala “The Wizard” Magaluff (6-2, 194lbs)

Bantamweight ground fighter William Fidnhasieunch returns to action after picking up his first win since joining the org. His victory by submission was the tenth of his career and perhaps now this will give the former Empire bantamweight champion confidence going forward from here.

He faces a tough challenge tonight in the form of enigmatic Kabala Magaluff. Still in the relative infancy of his career, Magaluff has been working his way through the lower echelons of the WVTFL roster and has racked up three wins in a row. Still only twenty-three years old, many are wondering if Kabala is the real deal and has what it takes to make it in the MMATycoon world. Fidnhasieunch will definitely provide a tricky challenge to overcome and one that might shine further light on these thoughts.

Paul “The Future” Sight (9-9, 192lbs) vs. Jimmy “The Wall” Fothergill (4-1, 260lbs)

Getting off to disappointing start to his time here, Paul Sight returns to the cage looking for a better performance this time around. He is taking on Jimmy Fothergill who also was unsuccessful in his org debut. Fothergil has taken some time to train and improve and we will now get to see the results of his gym labours.

Things look to be fairly even on the feet where this fight is expected to take place. Fothergill has the better BJJ credentials however so that may be something he looks to exploit. Sight is more experienced and has fought the tougher competition in his career which could be the biggest factor that will decide the fight.

“The Poet” Phillip Baroni (6-7-2, 199lbs) vs. “The” Chad Yonic (4-1, 160lbs)

A win and a draw so far for “The Poet” Phillip Baroni so technically undefeated since arriving here two fights ago. Typically a striker, he’ll have a chance to test his anti-grappling skills when he takes on sensational wrestler “The” Chad Yonic. Yonic, who is still only twenty-two has come on leaps and bounds in the almost one year since he started MMA and could be a real prospect for the future. The only question is could a natural featherweight really take the crown in the open weight world? Tonight that won’t be too much of an issue against Middleweight Baroni.

A tough fight to call but basically grappler versus striker with both being VERY good at what they do best.

Oscar “Bologna” Meyer (7-9, 270lbs) vs. Ignatius Thistlewhite (10-17, 152lbs)

After picking up a win in his org debut Oscar Meyer has now dropped two in a row and the big heavyweight striker will be looking to take it out on featherweight Ignatius Thistlewhite who is still himself looking for his first win since arriving and also to break the six fight losing streak he is currently on. The worst form of his career by far.

With over one-hundred pounds weight different, Thistlewhite must get this fight to the floor. Every second spent standing in front of Meyer is a second spent fearing traumatic brain injury. On the ground however, it would be Dr. Thistlewhite putting on a jiu-jitsu clinic for Mr.Meyer.

Michael MP (8-11, 274lbs) vs. Johnny Walker (10-8-2, 170lbs)

Michael MP returns to the cage after a fight of the night performance against Vinnie Sixx back at WVT9. Dropping the first two rounds on the judges score cards, MP needed a finish in the third and that’s just what he did when he was able to get the fight to the floor and finish Sixx with strikes on the ground.

He now face off against Lightweight striker Johnny Walker who comes into the fight after a draw and a loss during his time here.

MP has the power in his hands to stop Walker and has a perfect percentage of KO wins. He has also been on the receiving end of his fair share too however. Walker looks to be the better striker but does he have enough to take out a big heavyweight like MP? Neither fighters are in great form. This one could go either way but Walker might just go down as a slight favourite.

Crazy “Pitbull” Boco (6-12, 185lbs) vs. Trevor Fitch (1-0, 220lbs)

A relatively rare win for Crazy Boco last time out when he picked up a decision over Steven Rodgers at WVT10. Tonight he’ll take on newcomer Trevor Fitch who will be making his first appearance in the pro leagues after getting his start in the QFC system.

Wold Vale Tudo Fight League 15

(Saturday 25th May 2019 - Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

(#15) Hamish “The Pig” McTavish (14-11, 292lbs) vs. (#20) Chief “Little” Foot (10-8, 275lbs)

After two big wins in a row, Scottish wrestler Hamish McTavish ran into the roadblock that is Fanta Coco and was finished inside of one round. The loss caused McTavish to drop out of the Top 10 of the Power Rankings for the first time since the org’s beginnings and now McTavish attempts to start over again.

He’ll be doing so against Cheif Foot who has tread roughly the same path since joining here. Two wins in a row put Foot into the Top 10 but after his last loss to newcomer and former Sumo star Mitsugu Takeishi he has now fallen to #20.

Two very big men meeting in the cage here and this is unlikely to need the judges decision on a winner. Both with high percentages of KO finishes with Foot the more comfortable on the feet and McTavish on the ground. It seems almost a cliche at this point but the fight will really come down to whoever can keep the fight in his own comfort zone. McTavish might be the slight favourite but there won’t be too much in it.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Boss Yonic (19-13-1, 185lbs) vs. Ickey “Who Dey” Woods (14-9, 124lbs)

A recent signing to the WVTFL is long time IFC veteran Boss Yonic who has just finished a brief stint over at Empire. Yonic is a grinder. A no nonsense grappler who has worked tirelessly to improve his overall game and as a result came very close to a title shot at 185lbs in the IFC. Recently however, Yonic hasn’t looked himself and suffered the worst form of his career, a three fight losing streak and only two wins out of his last five. Some wonder if maybe his best days are behind him while other more optimistic fans believe that the WVTFL is place that Boss Yonic can finally live up to his potential as a champion.

His opponent is natural straw-weight fighter Ickey Woods from the USA who just overcome 147lbs Jan Jedrzejczyk and will be hoping to cut down the next biggest tree along the path.

Woods is another fighter who’s second half of his career has been filled with a lot more “L’s” in the column than his first half and who will be hoping to find that success once again here. He is already off to a good start so let’s see what he can do here.

An intriguing match up considering that Yonic is predominately a ground fighter and Wood’s has a tremendous record of submission wins under his belt. That being said, Yonic knows how to grind out a fight and has more decision wins than anything else. If he can nullify Wood’s submissions then there is a good chance he will be able to convince the judges he was the dominant fighter. On the feet both are even but Wood’s will be giving up sixty pounds in weight here. Yonic isn’t known as much of a striker but sixty pounds extra behind your punches could mean a whole heap.

Fletch “Skeeter” Brandis (17-9, 235lbs) vs. Ritchie “El Pinoy” Souza (14-14, 170lbs)

Returning to the WVTFL under new management is Fletch Brandis who was originally signed with the belief that he would be one of a few to be challenging for the title. After two big surprise losses however, it was clear that if Brandis ever was to challenge for the title, his path would be a lot longer than originally thought. Now under the guidance of a new management camp, we look forward to seeing if Brandis can do better this time around.

His opponent is Ritchie Souza who has already picked up one win here when he defeated 300lb Brandon Bowen during his debut. It was his first win after three defeats and Souza will no doubt be very keen to keep the winning train running.

Moving on to the actual fight, this one is likely going to be Brandis trying his best to take Souza’s head off of his shoulders and bumping up his already 94 percentage of KO wins. Souza in return will be trying his best to avoid said barrage and pick his moment to get Brandis off of his feet and into his strength which is the ground.

Niko Marcell (13-4, 274lbs) vs. Oleg “Easy B” Liguy (10-13, 185lbs)

Another fighter who has only just changed management teams is Niko Marcell who was unceremoniously dumped after losing two in a row. Now currently 1-2 here at the WVTFL but still 13-4 overall, Niko Marcell looks to pick up the pieces and see what rebuilding can be done.

His opponent Oleg Liguy is coming into the fight after snapping a three fight losing streak of his own. He picked up a hard fought decision win over Victor Mordino in his last fight that should have really raised his spirits but for some reason, Liguy is still a pretty depressed guy according to sources. In fact, Liguy isn’t even a training for this fight at the time of writing.

On paper the fight looks to be fairly even but the fact that Liguy obviously isn’t taking this seriously leads many to believe that the fight could be a massacre in the waiting. This should be a fairly straightforward win for Marcell.

Victor “Malas Noticias” Mordino (6-15-1, 180lbs) vs. Combato Bot One (2-2, 300lbs)

Spanish grappler Victor Mordino returns after a disappointing debut loss to Oleg Liguy at WVT12. Mordino is still looking a little fatigued at the time of writing as, according to sources close to his camp, refused to rest even a single day after his last bout.

He takes on nineteen year old Combato Bot One who picked up his second win in his own WVT debut last time out defeating Lukasz Patryk by third round submission.

This one will probably end up on the ground where Mordino will have a decent advantage on paper at least. Mordino is a lot more experienced than Bot One though he will be contending with a massive weight disadvantage.

“Gyilkos Mokusok” Altintop Palonesess (8-20, 154lbs) vs. Umberto “Gorro” Grena (14-22, 169lbs)

Not very much was expected of Altintop Palonesess when he arrived here but he has definitely performed better than expected and just recently gave up and coming Kabala Magaluf a surprisingly tough time. Currently 1-2 here and 8-20 overall, it will be journeyman versus journeyman tonight when he takes on Umberto “Gorro” Grena in a rematch of their WVTFL debut fight.

Grena got off to a great start to his time here picking up wins against his opponent tonight and then 343lb Magnus Fjeld. The results far exceeded expectations but any dreams of making it into the power rankings were halted with losses soon after albeit to tougher competition.

Not much has changed since there first fight where Grena was able to secure a first round submission win. Palonesess is still likely to want to engage on the ground so really it just comes down to whether he can do better this time around

Lukasz “Cichy” Patryk (8-22, 208lbs) vs. Maciej “Highlander” Gorski (7-21-1, 156lbs)

Two losses in a row for Lukasz Patryk after a solid debut win put the Polish journeyman’s record at 8-22 now. Both previously losses have been by submission indicating that it might be time for Patryk to put a little bit more time into earning that purple belt.

He is taking on fellow Polish fighter Maciej Gorski who is also coming in on a loss. An interesting fact is that Patryk managed to defeat the man that has just handed Gorski a defeat. Will this be something that worries or motivates Gorski?

Should be an entertaining scrap that will give one fighter a chance to move up the ladder a little more.

Papa John (5-8-1, 140lbs) vs. Johnny “Rotton” Lydon (7-10, 205lbs)

The results have gotten progressively worse for Scottish bantamweight Papa John who has now managed a win, a draw and most recently a loss. In that loss to King Murhaa, many criticised John for not being aggressive enough on the ground and giving Murhaa far too much space to manoeuvre. Of course the weight disadvantage could have played a part in that also however.

Tonight, John will face another light-heavyweight, this time newcomer Johnny Lydon. Lydon was previously fighting over at EFC and under different management but now can enjoy a completely fresh start in a new home.

Lydon looks to be a little more advanced overall but has been accused of being a little “chinny” over his career. John isn’t a prolific hitter but might feel motivated by the challenge.

Blitz “88” Krieg (10-17, 300lbs) vs. Perdue “The Spider” Willshire (5-14, 142lbs)

Opening up the night is depressed 300lb boxer Blitz Krieg taking on natural bantamweight jack of all trades Perdue Willshire.

Krieg started off with a bang here when he KO’d Raheem Nazir in his debut but since then hasn’t managed to win a fight.

Likewise his opponent Willshire is still searching for his first win since joining the league.

Willshire has a few options here and, so long as he doesn’t even consider standing toe to toe, has a real chance at getting his hand raised.

Wold Vale Tudo Fight League 16

(Saturday 25th May 2019 – Hard Knocks, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

Hijack “Smash” Dabutt (9-4, 275lbs) vs. (#4) Mitsugu Takeishi (10-1, 331lbs)

Fresh from the League of Legends tournament that ended a short while ago, Hijack Dabutt makes his first appearance in the World Vale Tudo Fight League and he will be fighting for the first time under new management. Dubutt put in a great showing during the tournament managing to win every one of his nine fights by first round KO. In fact, Dabutt has yet to actually spend more then five minutes in the cage with none of his fights total going past the first round leading many to describe his style as “gung ho” though that could all change under his new mentor.

He’ll have a chance to make a huge impact in the WVTFL rankings when he meets #4 ranked Mitsugu Takeishi. Takeishi, a former sumo star turned MMA fighter, is perhaps primed for a shot at greatness here and has looked very much like the prospect he was expected to be when he was signed. Currently 2-0 in the org and 10-1 overall, Takeishi is extremely close to becoming the first to challenge for the vacant title and will certainly have a lot on the line going into this one.

On paper both fighters share a lot of similarities. Both prefer to stand and bang and both are very versatile and comfortable either on the outside at range or close up in the clinch. Both have perfect KO percentages in their victories and could very easily score one against each other here. At 331lbs, not many can match Takeishi’s weight and this near sixty pound weight advantage could prove important. Dabutt has suffered a few knockout losses and this too could prove to be an important indicator.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Inspektor Dee (5-2, 245lbs) vs. (#14) Carlos “Pitbull” Ruas (12-7, 280lbs)

Making his WVTFL debut tonight is Polish heavyweight Inspektor Dee who arrives with a fair amount of buzz after a successful undefeated run over at TAFC in Sydney. Currently on a five fight winning streak, Dee could be an immediate player in the currently vacant title picture.

He’ll face a tough opponent in Carlos Ruas who has just made a successful debut here last time out where he put on a good showing to avoid monster wrestler Diyorbek Nurudinov’s ground and pound and pick up a submission win.

Very even match up here it seems with perhaps Ruas having the smallest margin of advantage in wrestling and the clinch. Ruas is also the more experienced of the two but Dee is currently in the zone and in the better form. Ruas is a skilled submission fighter and it will be interesting to see if that BJJ Brown Belt of Dee’s is just for show or if it will be the great equaliser in this match up.

Dominique “Alligator” Bell (21-17, 139lbs) vs. Shawn Griffin (13-14, 168lbs)

Four fights in and it’s beginning to become apparent that Dominique Bell’s chin is just not cut out for open weight fighting. Perhaps not for MMA in general. A shame as in his day, Bell was an island champion at his natural weight of 135lbs and a feared submission specialist. It’s hard to see him rack up KO loss after KO loss but no doubt he and his fans will be hoping to have something to cheer about tonight.

Weight won’t be such an issue when he takes on 168lb Shawn Griffin tonight but he will be facing a tricky journeyman fighter who is happy to fight in all ranges. Griffin too hasn’t been in the best of form lately with only one win coming in his last five fights. Three of which have been here in the WVTFL. Like Bell, he is also riding a two fight losing streak

Bell might be a decent favourite in this one so long as he can avoid taking a shot to the head. His submission game is vastly superior and they are practically even on paper on the feet. Griffin has an above average percentage of KO wins however so maybe standing toe to toe would only favour one fighter.

Most bookies are currently seeing Bell as the favourite here.

“I Weigh” One Fortythree (10-15, 142lbs) vs. Diyorbek Nurudinov (12-13, 270lbs)

One Fortythree has developed a ferocious looking striking skill set but so far, hasn’t really been able to put it to good use. Still searching for his first win since arriving, he isn’t likely to find any sympathy from his opponent tonight.

Diyorbek Nurudinov looked to be a frightening prospect when he arrived with his elite level wrestling, exceptional hands and 270lb frame but so far hasn’t quite lived up to expectations and, like his opponent, is still searching for his first win here.

This one will be a real interesting test of Fortythree’s punching power. He has a good record of KO finishes but never against a fighter the size of Nurudinov despite having fought open weight before. Nurudinov too has an excellent record of finishes in his wins and could definitely cause some damage should he get the opportunity. Both fighters have had there fair share of KO losses so a finish is very much on the cards in this one.

Ake “Sumozilla” Bono (5-0, 300lbs) vs. Tony “The Tank” Anderson (5-0-1, 157lbs)

Next up we have two undefeated fighters in Ake Bono and Tony Anderson going head to head.

Ake Bono has looked phenomenal since joining the WVT managing to go 4-0 and all by submission finishes. Now 5-0 overall he takes on WVT newcomer Anderson and Anderson will not only be making his first appearance in the pro leagues but will also be doing it for the first time under new management.

Both are ground fighters so there is unlikley to be much happening on the feet. Really the biggest stand out point going into this bout is the 143lb weight difference between the two. Can Anderson overcome such a deficit or will Bono use his huge bulk to crush the natural light-weight Anderson?

Max “And” Paddy (13-15, 170lbs) vs. Gosha Lopez (10-6, 135lbs)

Max Paddy had a very tough and tricky debut opponent in Ray Mancini and unfortunately for him he was just a small step behind on the night, losing a unanimous decision two rounds to one. A chance to get back on the right track tonight however when he faces flyweight grappler Gosha Lopez.

Lopez hasn’t quite seen the same performances that he did under previous management though it is still early doors in this new partnership. Lopez has faced tough competition so far and has managed to go 1-2. Often he has been giving up a decent amount of weight and tonight will be no exception. On paper, both fighters are extremely equal in almost all facets. The only real difference is that Paddy currently sports more losses than wins unlike Lopez and with almost half of those coming by KO we wonder if that is something the smaller fighter will attempt to exploit.

Crack Head “Roks” (14-18, 153lbs) vs. Jan “Champion” Jedrzejczyk (12-14, 147lbs)

Next up, two fighters not in the best of form.

Crack Head, with only one win in his past five, really could do with getting his hand raised here but he’ll definitely have a challenge on his hands, despite his opponent Jan Jedrzejczyk currently in even worse form then himself. Jedrzejczyk, who has now racked up four losses in a row, has really struggled to make any kind of impact since joining the WVT and is still looking for his first win.

This should be a competitive fight with perhaps Jedrzejczyk having the edge on the feet. Head will need to be aware of this as the combination of Jedrzejczyk’s finishing percentages and his own KO losses could spell disaster.

Marcin “The Prince” Vanna (13-13, 155lbs) vs. Cyrius “The Snake” Python (12-11, 167lbs)

Polish submission wrestler Marcin Vanna makes an extremely quick return to the cage following a tough decision loss to strong wrestler Pacer Dalton. With his opponent known for grinding out and shutting out opponents on the ground, the result wasn’t too much of a surprise though surely a disappointment for Vanna who had been in tremendous form going into the fight and performing above all expectations since arriving.

He’ll be facing Cyrius Python who will also be coming in off a loss. Python has amassed a respectable 2-2 record since joining the WVT and in truth has also done better than initially expected.

Though Python isn’t know as a striker, he will have a strong advantage in that area so we might see him look to defeat Vanna that way. Otherwise we can look forward to a competitive grappling affair between two ground focused submission wrestlers.

Hey I'm new to MMA Tycoon, But was wondering if I could throw any of my guys in There? They're all 0-0 with a quick fight coming up

Hey mate, I'd absolutely offer you some contracts but your guys would be at a massive disadvantage against much older fighters here. I'd probably struggle to find fair fights for you too.

I would recommend getting in touch with this org... http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgpublic.php?oid=5568 ... They are closer to your ID range and looks like they could do with more fighters.

If you don't get anywhere, come back to me and I'm sure I can sort something out for you.
