FV #20 - The Beat Up In The Bay - Preview

Saturday 17th May @ Wandalay Bay (capacity: 12,000)

Each week I see the Forbidden Violence card come out and think, how does an organisation that is barely 6 months old provide such strong cards and great quality match-ups time and time again. With 3 championship title matches on display come this Friday, the landscape of the company will change drastically and new challengers will be given room to prove themselves, along with old ones, such as Jase Robertson, raring to prove they deserve another shot.

Main Event

“Bad Bad” Leroy Brown (34-15-2)(1-0) v Billy “The Really Good” Roberts (15-2-0)(1-0)

With both men being undefeated in Forbidden Violence and both men also taking commanding victories in their respective FV wins it is not hard to see why this fight is the main event of the evening despite their being three championship title matches when FV comes to the Bay. These two men are coming in off hot streaks and are both incredibly over with the fans, which cannot wait to see who will walk victorious from the arena. Roberts is undefeated in 6 fights and won by (T)KO in every fight one of those 6 victories. In fact the only way it appears that any opposition is able to stop Roberts is by taking him the distance as ALL 2 of his loses have come by decision; Something Brown is not familiar with either, seeing all bar 4 of his 51 fights have a finish before the final bell.

These fighters are very evenly matched but Brown may have a very slight advantage on his feet, with a strong amateur Muay-Thai background it’ll be interesting to see if Roberts can match the kicks of “Bad Bad” Leroy Brown or if that’ll keep Roberts on the outside. The key to victory for Roberts must be getting in close, pilling on the pressure and trying not to let those kicks, particularly to the legs, stop him from getting in his comfortable range. If these men get up close I see Roberts winning any exchanges but Brown has the advantage from range. It’ll be great to see which competitor takes the initiative and takes control early on.

Co-Main Event

Gegard Mousasi (25-9-1)(1-0) v “The Saviour” Philip Negan (11-8-0)(0-1)

If you’re looking for a fighter who gives it his all, has true love for his fans and is a genuine blue chip hard worker, then you don’t have to look much further than Gegard Mousasi. Despite his hard work, persistence and natural ability he is the first to credit his success to his fans and his humility is what makes them love him in return. On the other side of the cage from the fan favourite on Friday is a Philip Negan, a man branded as “The Saviour”, who after his current display looks in a little need of saving himself after taking a hard loss to Ramirezovic.

While it may appear Mousasi’s experience and skill makes this fight a bit of a miss-match, you need to take into account Negan’s confidence generally makes up for this, as this has been a case in a lot of his bouts across various companies. Negan looked to save various promotions from what he says are the scum of MMA and this outrageous confidence is what has got him this far, scoring surprise victories over various opponents such as Kasim Akande. The only concern I’d have if I was a corner man for Negan is he normally likes to look for the take-down and then follow with a submission, getting the take-down may not be impossible on Mousasi but the following submission will prove difficult as their aren’t many better on the matt than the 33-year-old Dutchman.

Main Card

Memento Mori (15-6)(2-0) v Jase Robertson (22-9)(2-1)

Memento Mori has finally moved on from the feud with fellow FV #20 card member, Cletus White, who he beat twice in succession to go 2-0 and in Forbidden Violence and now turns his attention to a very formidable competitor. That would be the last challenger to Abel Speed’s 185lbs title, the man who took part in what a lot of fans see as the most exciting fight in the history of the company and really put this man on the map. Robertson may feel had he won the fight he may well have been main eventing the card but after the loss, despite the impress fight with Speed, Robertson is back to square one and will be looking to impress to get himself right back into the title picture!

These guys are both relatively young fighters and both fighters share one more thing in common, they HATE decisions. They both fight by, “Knock Out or be Knocked Out” and that’s what the Forbidden Violence fans will love to see. It’ll be exciting to see which way this fight falls and what the fallout from the fight may be; If Mori could beat Robertson would he stake a rightful claim to be in with a title shot at Abel Speed? We will see at FV #20.

Eliod “Scooter” Bunkley Iii (17-4-1)(3-1-1) v “The lion of Matema” Baraka Simengwa (12-9-0)(1-0-0)

A battle of the submission artists will take place at Forbidden Violence #20 and the Bay will witness maybe not one of the more explosive bouts of the evening but it can certainly expect one of the more technical as Bunkley – 4 time submission of the night winner in his career – faces off against relative FV new boy Simengwa – BJJ Red Belt – in what may be one of the most complex bouts the organisation has ever seen. Both fighters normally just have to get their opponent to the ground before getting a beating and work their magic from their but Bunkley Lii and Baraka Simengwa will be in for a real test of their abilities as seeking control of the ground in this fight will certainly be a lot easier done than said. Two more potential challengers could be taken down to one for Abel Speed’s title but it’ll be interesting to see who takes the upper hand and if either tries to run their luck in the stand-up. This fight has a real air of uncertainty around it as it could end at any time or go to the decision (at least in the eyes of everybody I’ve spoken too) and it should be a bout to really keep your eye on even amongst the 3 title fights this evening.

Welterweight Title Bout

Champion Adam Duritz (3-0)(3-0) v Mikio “Flame666” Okita (37-22)(4-1)

On paper this bout looks like the ultimate ground vs grappler fight with Duritz having the advantage on his feet in this fight but challenger Okita being considered truly as one of the best in the world in terms of ground game ability. Only through hard work and dedication was Okita recently able to claim his Red Belt in BJJ and along with it become a serious contender and threat in Forbidden Violence for Duritz title. The champion will be on top of the world making his second defence since beating Avon Barksdale to win the title in only his second ever professional MMA bout. This young man is a phenomenal talent, especially considering how late he joined the sport but it should be interesting to see just what he is capable of against somebody with the 59 fight experience Mikio Okita has.

While it is clear Okita sacrificed some of his stand-up so he could perfect his technique on the mat, he should not be underestimated as he has only every been KO’d 3 times in his career and he’ll want to make sure that number doesn’t become 4 in his 60th professional career fight. It will be interesting to see how the champion approaches this fight, in both title fights he finished with some amazingly executed strikes and one must be wondering how such a high level of confidence will affect him; Will the champion suffer from being over-confident and leaving him exposed or to make simple errors – something he CANNOT afford against an opponent of the experience of Okita.

Featherweight Title Fight

Champion Jimmy “BabyFace” Brooks (7-2)(3-0) v “Jesse” James Jameson (18-9)(2-0)

23 year old Jimmy “BabyFace” Brooks has been on something of a run of recent, picking up the title and becoming the youngest champion in Forbidden Violence, overachieving in the eyes of everybody excluding himself. Jameson has also looked fantastic since joining FV, going unbeaten and winning both his fights in the first round so he was clear choice to be the first challenger for Brooks’ title. Brooks has been a true rising star as he has shot up not only the P4P rankings but also in popularity with the fans, the only question mark over Brooks is can he go the distance, both these men like to finish so we may not find out on Friday night but it will be a question asked of him in the future whether he’s champion or not.

Once again on paper it does appear as if the “BabyFace” will be completely out matched by his opposition but as eluded to earlier, this is something of a regular occurrence now, as he won the title in shock fashion beating Volk Kruth in the first round of the fight. The questions will begin to be asked as the fight goes deeper, with Brooks losing 2 of his 3 decisions – all unanimously. Normally Jesse Jameson loves to go for the finish and knock his opponents out but one could pose the question, should he play more defensive and look to take Brooks the distance.

Undercard

Hannibal “The Cannibal” Die Rücksichtslos (33-19)(2-0) v Oleg Karev (29-14)(Debut)

Oleg Karev may have lost his last two fights in MMA, but they were in top promotion Ascension and one was for the title, once his contract came up he decided it was time for a change of pace and he came to FV to dominate another division. His first challenge will be the so-far-undefeated Die Rücksichtslos, “The Cannibal” has been loving his time in FV and will be looking to take another victory to make it three straight but both these men know the other won’t be a walk over.

These men are both happy to see a fight out to the finish and are in superb condition, although they are equally happy to throw haymakers and try take their opponents block off. Both men also have a phenomenal head kick which could come from anywhere to finish an opposition and end the fight. The real question will be which fighter takes the initiative, comes out the aggressor and looks to put their opponent away with exposing themselves to a quick counter that will put them on the back foot for the rest of the fight or finish it there.

Diego “The genetic jackhammer" Diaz (13-10-1)(Debut) v DeAngelo Suggs (8-3-0)(Debut)

Two more debutants go head to head in the third match-up of the night and both will want to put in a strong showing as “The genetic jackhammer” faces a young man that doesn’t need or want a nickname as he wants “the fans to remember my name not a gimmick”. Suggs is fortunate as manager Matt Mac is considered one of the top 100 managers in the Tycoon world and will have made sure not only the time but also the money into preparing Suggs for a debut against a former GAMMA competitor goes according to plan and launches his client to new heights. Diaz will really be looking to glaze over unsuccessful stints in GAMMA and TTFC with a victory on his debut fight for FV. Vegas odds have Suggs down as favourite to continue his win streak to 5 in a row but Diaz is a whole another level to the 4 previous victims of Suggs and he’ll have to find some extra gears to finish this fight in the way he did those, with victory.

New Lightweight Title Match

Nycky Downtime (28-24-2)(Debut) v Ring Vinayagamoorthy (4-5-0)(Debut)

Two debutants will face off this Friday for a vacant lightweight title; the title itself will be on the line for the first time in the history of Forbidden Violence as they have begun to develop their 155lbs lightweight division. The two new boys facing off for the title are Downtime and Vinayagamoorthy, who both look set to kick start the titles history with a bang. Some argue that the Dutchman doesn’t deserve the title shot and it should be given to a more successful fighter in the division but owner Frank King is very much about “what have you done for me lately” and Vinayagamoorthy did a great job going the distance and dominating Porter until the last round where his performance began to tail off. The fans will be hoping this one doesn’t need a last round though as these warriors go full out to grab the belt, it’ll be interesting to see whether the underdog can rise up or if experienced submission artist Downtime can break his opposition before the end of the fight.

Opener

Cletus “The All-American” White (15-15)(0-2) v Macadam Baird (10-5)(3-2)

“The All-American” White will be wanting to forget about his last two Forbidden Violence bouts as he looks to gain a victory over a so far impressive Macadam Baird, who was unlucky in his last outing to lose to Simengwa with such little time remaining in the round before he tapped. Ironically the man with the collegiate wrestling background may be out-wrestled in this one as Baird is a fantastic wrestler in his own right and more than able to hold his own when exchanging holds. This bout will not have the fans captivated in the way any of the other fights will on the night but it is more than good enough to open the card and get the fans pumped for the events later in the evening.

As said through-out this report, us here at Championship Press Association could not be more excited about Forbidden Violence’s 20th weekly event as it truly does have some real talent and class on the card, 3 amazing title matches will happen on the night and the rest of the card is so strong one of them is in the undercard and the other two didn’t make the main or co-main events. This bodes well for the future of the company as their will be a lot of talents emerge from the bouts tonight as potential challengers for titles. You have to imagine that, in particular, Abel “Amazin” Speed will be live and have his eyes on several fights tonight with 4 key contenders for his title facing off to make themselves stand-out in the eyes of owner and matchmaker Frank King. Join us live in person or watch this space for the review following the event for all of the action and fall-out coming from this stacked card.

AFL 27: Omeruo vs Liften Jr

“The Nigerian Nightmare” (7-1) meets “Redo” (5-1) on his debut for AFL!

The story of Kenneth Omeruo is one that has been heavily followed across the Tycoon world before any controversy followed, but following a fall-out with CHAOS and their management, this man has been in the spot-light non-stop. With the announcement being made that Omeruo has left CHOAS and signed with Attack Fight League being made within a few days of each other, fans of

Omeruo and the Island season two were left wondering who would be his first challenge upon arriving at AFL.

That first challenge is the definition of the adjective used, as a challenge is what Omeruo’s opponent, Ben Liften Jr, will provide come this Saturday. Liften Jr’s career thus far itself has been heavily followed due to his fantastic form, winning 5 of his 6 fights on the Island (2-0 in AFL) with part of that being down to the great training of his coach’s and manager Ryan Berry – who hooked him up with the talented guys at Island Premium CT. “Redo” loves to spurt his catchphrase of “I ben liften, I ben runnin, I ben plotten. I’ll kill you” and when I spoke to the man himself, he said just that – adding “I Ben beating so called big timers like Omeruo since day one” - big talk from a man who weighs a mere 145lbs.

As stated above, Omeruo has won an impressive 7 fights out of 8, with his only loss being his failed title defence against Billy Hill. Omeruo also has a reputation for putting on one hell of a show with 3 Fight of the Night awards to his name and he’ll be looking to take another with him along with the victory on Saturday night. At Championship Press Association we cover a lot of news and fights and this is one right up there, I’ve spoken to our Island reporter Monica Francis and she has told me confidence is running high in both camps, with both managers sending loud statements but one thing to note is the silence from Kenneth Omeruo himself, who’s focus is being described by trainers as “Unbreakable”.

This fight really could go either way and both fighters will be looking to play to their strengths, I think it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing a lot of action on the ground, but if it does go there a lot feel Omeruo will have a strong advantage. The stand-up game is very evenly matched and it’ll be interesting to see which fighter comes out the more aggressive, the caged Omeruo who, I’m sure, will be looking to release all his aggression on his opponent or the under-hyped Afgan, who will have a point to prove. One thing is for sure, the winner of this fight will be able to make a strong claim at taking a shot at the Lightweight title of The Can. It may not be an official number on contenders fight but by how hyped this fight has become by fans and media alike, it certainly has the feel of one and we’ll see you live at Hayashi's Lounge this Saturday (17th May) for this huge match-up!

Nutrition in the world of Tycoon

Championship Press Association brings the first part of a two part story covering one of the more quietly spoken controversies around the world of MMA Tycoon, along with a guide for new players to follow.

MMA Tycoon has featured Nutrition Companies since its initial opening to the public with supplements being supplied by a range of companies covering a range of needs for the fighters. The supplements they supply cover everything you’d expect, such as weight loss/gain, stamina increase, energy recovery and muscle bulk, and is key to all of the top fighter’s success as they look to climb to the top of the mountain. One thing that is sure is that the world of Tycoon would be incredibly different without these companies and their products, although there has always been once great talking point around them.

How legitimate and successful are the use of supplements, not just in general, but company to company, we here at Championship Press Association have asked all kinds of players, ranging from near complete newbies to experienced members with 600+ fights under their belt on what the thought on various companies across the game and which ones they’ve seen the best results from. We’ve also spoken to a few of the nutrition company owners who were given the offer the opportunity to offer statements on their opposition, as well as their own products. What we’ve found is quiet revealing.

Out of all of the nutrition companies three have really stood our when speaking to managers across the Tycoon world, these are; HGH Nutrients, Milwaukee’s Best and – realtviely surprisingly due to its lack of hype in comparison with the others – FinnFighter. Others were mentioned, such as Green!, KAISER and Hell’s Balls but those three lead the way with recommendations on all their products. What may have set these top class companies apart in the eyes of the public is how forward they are in proving their products are legitimate and will make the difference with proof being readily available to those who asked.

Another thing I noticed, that particularly HGH and Milwaukee’s, shared was how candid and honest the founders of these companies were about their own product and their opposition, with Groove Monkey being quoted in saying when interviewed by CPA; “I suspect that supplements round up and that all of the 160's are the same” when referring to the quality of products reaching a limit and boosting by .01 for advertising purposes. This was a feeling shared with HGH owner Thor HGH who, alongside giving me his opinion on the world of nutrition, gave me some insight on just how much money HGH have put into making sure that the fighters of Tycoon have a product they can believe in. $6.5 Million went into the research and testing of their top product, known as Smokeleaf Special Energy (their reduced energy loss supplement) which shows the dedication that each of these companies have to giving a product.

While there are many supplements out there that give our fighters the extra help they need, the managers of Tycoon can rest safe, that while there are some that boost and pose products they don’t really have, there are a substantial amount of trust worthy suppliers who are more than happy to prove the product they have is the real deal.

*CPA’s noobs guide to nutrition will be published in the coming weeks, if you have anything to add to this article before that is published or want to expose a company who isn’t as honest as they should be, or on a more positive note, promote a company who doesn’t get the credit it deserves, feel free to sound off below or send myself a PM.

Syn’300 – 4th Times a Charm

On Friday 16th May @ LA Memorial Colossuseum (capacity: 93,607)

Synchronicity brought to the MMA fans of the world Syn’300 this past weekend, with a stacked card in celebration of Syn’s 300th numbered event was a card stacked with talent and even included two title matches as Evangelisti faced Charalabous and the “Raging Pitbull” defended his title against Rizzo Jr. With much more packed on the card, read the review below if you didn’t have chance to catch the PPV last Friday (16th May).

Middleweight (185lbs) Title Fight

Kostas Charalabous (29-6-0) v Dante Evangelisti (39-8-0) Champion

Dante Evangelisti came into this bout as one of the most popular names and already a guaranteed Synchronicity Hal of Famer but that would not be on his mind tonight, as he knew he’d have to prove his worth against an incredibly promising opposition in Kostas Charalabous. With both of these fighters’ reputations the fans had hoped for 5 rounds of full blown war, and on Friday night, that’s exactly what they got.

It seemed early as if Charalabous was going to stop the bout before it had really started when he cut Dante with a great counter jab but the cut didn’t faze the 3-time world champion and he fought through it for the remaining 4 rounds following. This fight was contested right the way through, fought till the end, which each round being as close to the last. Action so quick and intense than it is a wonder how the athletes continued to go and give it their all, leaving the fans on their feet for large durations of the bout.

When the call to finish the final round came, the two men were met with a rapturous applause, like an explosion from the Syn faithful, who had crammed 92,000 of them into the Colossueseum and this bout alone had been well worth the fee of entry. To the fans it didn’t matter which man took the victory as they would’ve met an announcement either way with the same reaction they had to the finish of the fight, but to the two fighters it did and as it was announced that Charalabous had taken the fight by split decision (49:47, 49:47, 47:48), the emotion of both men was clear as they embraced after a fantastic fight. Post-match we at CPA caught up with a clearly disappointed Dante Evangelisti who for the first time seemed struggled for words could only say “Damn”. What a way to close the event and end the evening, as well as lead Syn into the future with a new Middleweight Champion, Kostas Charalabous!

Main Card

“Double A” Andres Aguinaldo (43-19-1) v “The Thing” Ben Grimm (29-7-1)

Near the top of the card is the bout featuring two incredibly popular fighters in the Tycoon world and with both boasting positive records since arriving in Syn (5-2 and 3-2 respectively) it’s clear to see why it has a position so high up the card above our Bantamweight Title Match. “Double A” and “The Thing” both came into this one like houses on fire with Aguinaldo want to regain his rep so he can have another shot at the Syn title and Grimm wanting to gloss over his second loss in the company.

The fight itself was one of nine bouts that reached the third round or further as they took the two men took it to a decision. Not too dissimilar to the main event of the evening the bout started off hot capturing the fans attention early as Grimm landed a solid hand to cut Aguinaldo open but much like the Main Event of the evening the cut played no real part after that first round. Both men were evenly match throughout and it is a showing that both will be impressed with. As they went into the third round at a round a piece on the scorecards, “Double A” will be disappointed that he couldn’t score any takedowns as this may have cost him the fight, with Grimm able to take the third and final round to be announced victor by Unanimous Decision. Grimm as always took time to thank his army of fans, going on to say the fans make the fight and he’ll deliver the impressive performances as long as they deliver the support.

Hamid Zaferani (27-16-1) v “Gambler” Bad Idea (26-12-1)

Undefeated since his debut, Bad Idea has been on a tear in Synchronicity and has been causing a bit of a stir in the Bantamweight division, with his match following the result of the Bantamweight title match both men went in motivated knowing they could well be in a good position when it comes to who may well a shot at the title. The former number three Bantam fighter on the planet would have to be wary though as Zaferani has the tank to take a fight to the finish.

Unsurprisingly that’s just where this fight ended up, as Zaferani and Bad Idea fought for the entire 15minutes set for their bout and both men looked like they won’t to go to the finish showing great promise for their chances in a title match-up or main event. Ultimately it was “Gambler” Bad Idea who took a dominant unanimous decision victory and gave his opposition little chance, controlling from start to finish, taking Hamid Zaferani down to the mat when he pleased and not letting him more than arms-length away. Idea now goes three fights undefeated and must sure be calling for a shot at the winner off……

Bantamweight Title Match

Champion “Raging Pitbull” Jake Lamotta (42-17-1) v Frank “Razor” Rizzo Jr (26-15-2)

This bantamweight title match was being slightly over shadowed by the fact “Gambler” Bad Idea was following afterwards but that made both fighters even more determined to come out and perform, with champion Lamaotta displaying his disgust saying he’d send the fans home with his fight being the one to remember. Lamotta may not have deliver in the way of retaining but him and Rizzo Jr were strong contenders for fight of the night in a match-up that saw “Razor” take the title by TKO victory.

The fight was easily one of the most entertaining of the night and like the main event later on had the fans going wild for the onslaught of action that was on-display from these two top class athletes. After an incredibly close first round, which neither fighter really edged out, Rizzo Jr began to take control of the fight in the second with Lamotta only beginning to hold his own in the final of the minute with a well-timed counter-take-down. As the fight entered the third, the fans were on edge, wanting to see a finish to the fight after the close calls of the previous two rounds and “Razor” delivered a huge right hook leaving the “Raging Pitbull” wobbly legged. Lamotta could do nothing as Frank “Razor” Rizzo Jr followed up with several more hooks and as Lamotta fell helplessly to the canvas, the official dived in to protect Lamotta from taking any further beating awarding “Razor” with not only the TKO win but also his first title for near on 2-years.

Undercard

“The Longsnapper” Patrick Mannelly (20-6-1) v Shawn Kronburger (37-19-0)

The quickest fight of the night usually lacks the value of a 3 round all-out war but the battle between “The Longsnapper” Patrick Mannelly and Shawn Kronburger didn’t lack anything in the slightest, as it may have been the shortest but it certainly was one of the most intense and entertaining behind the main event.

In its lone solitary round, the fight was fast paced and kept their fans on the edge of their seats (or for a large amount of people, even out of them) with the two men throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other. After two minutes the fans could see the finish coming, with Kronburger smelling blood off a right jab counter, which he followed up with a incredible upper cut, that left the Syn faithful wondering how Mannelly wasn’t lights out. With Mannelly on the floor, Kronburger was having no risk of any ground game and waved a rocked Mannelly back to his feet. Seconds late it happened again, “The Longsnapped” knocked off his feet to the ground after Kronburger gave a big right hand and again allowed the fight to continue not diving down upon the clearly dazed opponent.

The finish finally came in amazing style when Shawn threw another big right hand that sent Mannelly to the mat, but this time Mannelly rolled right through in an acrobatic style, landing on his feet against the cage. This was the moment Kronburger had wanted as he went in throwing several big punches, leaving Mannelly defenceless and needing the official’s protection that came instantly. It appeared during the fight Kronburger could’ve taken the fight at any point from 2 minutes in the fight onward as he ragdolled “The Longsnapper” in incredible fashion, before taking the TKO victory. That was fight the fans really needed to bring them to live for the main card, what a bout!

"mēpisukaryā" Itagaki Fukuzawa (16-4-0) v Chauncey “Nightcrow” Silvestre (31-16-1)

The most notable difference between these two competitors is the difference in age between Chauncey Silvestre and Itagaki Fukuzawa, with Silvestre being 8 years the Japanese’ senior at the age of 34. Silvestre continued to struggle in this fight, after his stuttering career following the disappointment of losing to Matt Miller three times in title fights. He was hoping to bounce back against a hot young rookie in Fukuzawa.

The fight went the distance with both fighters playing their equal part in the fight, although in most people’s eyes Fukuzawa was leading going into the third. The corner of the “Nightcrow” could be heard encouraging him to press and be more aggressive as they may need the finish and with only 3 minutes to go after another round being edged by Itagaki, it was clear this was the case. Silvestre was pressing, with a solid take down when Fukuzawa managed to sweep into the guard and this was bad news for Silvestre as he eventually broke the guard to get into mount and land some ground and pound. With 20 seconds left in the round a big hand from the Japanese rocked Silvestre and it was all over as the official dived between the two competitors to stop any permanent damage being done as Fukuzawa reigned shots down on a lifeless Silvestre.

"The Freight Train" Cain Colbert (34-22-0) v Jobe Nkemakolam (34-14-0)

This was the fight that set about giving us the four finishes of the card in a row, when Jobe Nkemakolam came back from an early battering, after being knocked-down and cut by a huge head kick from “The Freight Train”. Colbert couldn’t capitalize of this opportunity to finish his Filipino opposition and he’ll regret this as within minutes Nkemakolam was returning the favour. The victory came by TKO in favour of the Filipino grappler when he knocked Colbert down to the mat and followed immediately with a series of punches before the official could dive in to end the bout. Not as exciting as the Mannelly vs Kronburger later in the night but this fight was definitely appreiciated none the less by the LA audience.

Prelims

Rico “El Chupacabra” Dominguez (24-11-3) v James Mayer De Rothschild (32-16-2)

Evenly spread between time on the ground and standing up, squaring off, these two fighters took the fight the whole distance. It was an evenly fought fight while both competitors were on their feet but as soon as De Rothschild landed a take down and the fight went to the mat he was always in control and unless Dominguez could get a finish, De Rothschild was never going to lose. Winner by Unanimous Decision (27:30) – James Mayer De Rothschild.

Indica Jatlier (21-6-0) v Keke “Hammer” Pummel (21-13-0)

When Jatlier and Pummel met the fans knew they were in for one hell of a fight and the fighters really gave it their all. Although there were no tears, their definitely was a lot of sweat and blood in this one, with both men being busted open. In the end their could only be one winner and Pummel edged the decision 28:29 to take the win. Both men will have earned not only a lot of respect from their peers for this fight but also the fans, keep an eye on these two men.

“The True King” Viserys Targaryen (20-11-1) v Holden “Aerial” James (27-20-1)

This was a really solid fight to open the card with and “The True King” and “Aerial” both fought hard to take the fight the distance – a re-occurring theme on this card – as well as provide the fans with a sense that this would be a solid show. “The True King” Viserys Targaryen won the bout by Unanimous Decision (29:28) after winning the first and second rounds, with James pushing in the third knowing he needed a finish but not quiet being able to grab one. A lot of heart was shown by both men and they’ll be looking to take from this fight into the future, particularly the victor, Targaryen.

A fantastic show again from Synchronicity and a great response from the fans, with a near full attendance live and over 320,000 watching live on PPV from home. They were all treated to their money’s worth with 8 fights reaching the 3rd round or further and 6 of which going to decision. Fight on the Night will be an incredibly difficult choice but not as difficult as Submission of the Night (shockingly in 10 fights there was not a single submission finish)! It’ll be interesting to see just where the now former Middleweight Dante Evangelisti goes from here, but one thing is for sure, he’ll always have the fans backing. The 300th weekly event from Synchronicity lived up to the bill and we’ll be looking forward to more in the future, we’ll see you next Saturday (24th May) for Syn’301!

FV #20 – The Beat-up in the Bay – Review

Saturday 17th May @ Wandalay Bay (Attendance: 12,000)

This past Saturday, the Beat up in the Bay took place at Wandalay Bay in front of a capacity crowd of 12,000, as Forbidden Violence brought to you their 20th weekly show. The weeks card featured a main event that had attracted so much attention it kept three title matches out of the top slot, with Leroy Brown facing off against Bill Roberts – both undefeated in FV.

Main Event

“Bad Bad” Leroy Brown (34-15-2)(1-0) v Billy “The Really Good” Roberts (15-2-0)(1-0)

These two relative new boys had the honour of main eventing the 20th weekly card in Forbidden Violence history and with both being former champions in other organisations, most fans predicted it’d be likely that these two will be gunning for the heavyweight belt sooner rather than later. “The Really Good” Roberts was coming into this one off the back of 6 straight professional MMA victories and was living up to, if not exceeding, his moniker in “Really Good” fashion, with every one of those victories being by KO or TKO.

The fight displayed all the great qualities these two men have, determination, heart and great jaws! Despite that this will not go down as an all-time classic, or even as fight of the night as Roberts controlled the fight through-out and both men seemed gassed by the end of the second round - Something the FV fans were not expecting to see in the main event of such a big card!

Roberts took the fight by unanimous decision (27:30) and the fans gave them a respectable round of applause, although it was clear from the look and comments made by “Bad Bad” Leroy Brown post match he was not happy with the fight and didn’t feel the fans got true value from their fight. He also went onto question the future of his career, saying; 'Well I think it is time to go back to our camp and take hard look not only my career but more importantly my future, perhaps the time has come to call it a day'. Is this Brown calling quits or irrational post fight disappointment? We’ll stay on top of this one as it breaks from Forbidden Violence.

Co-Main Event

Gegard Mousasi (25-9-1)(1-0) v “The Saviour” Philip Negan (11-8-0)(0-1)

Negan left TMG the champion of the Light Heavyweight over there for an opportunity to fight in Forbidden Violence and after his first fight, a loss against now title challenger Ramirezovic, he may now be regretting that, but he had chance to change his fortunes against former GAMMA fighter, Gegard Mousasi.

It was clear from the offset what the game plan for Mousasi was, close the distance, then gain the takedown, whether from shooting in from distance or in the clinch. From there, once the fight was at the ground, Mousasi (who dominated the first round) looked to advance his position until his opponent left any of his limbs exposed for a submission. With 6 attempted submissions from Mousasi in the first round alone, it was a very tiring fight for both men, whether on defence or offense.

The second round was similar, as Negan brought the fight to the clinch, Mousasi worked hard for the take-down and got it, taking control on the ground game once their again. With his first submission attempt of the second round, Mousasi looked to lock in a choke hold and this time Negan had no defense for it, only being able to tap out to prevent further damage. Mousasi looked delighted with the victory and thanked the fans for their support, as that is why he left GAMMA and joined FV.

.

Main Card

Memento Mori (15-6)(2-0) v Jase Robertson (22-9)(2-1)

After losing to Abel “Amazin” Speed in the title fight, Jase Robertson was looking to come back with a bang against the man that beat a former All-American wrestler in Cletus White by out wrestling him, that man is Memento Mori. This fight had a very surreal feel going into it as both men were coming in on a high and both are very over with the Forbidden Violence crowd, with as much noise being made for one man’s entrance as the others.

The fight was one of the most entertaining of the night and had it have gone on for a little longer it would’ve easily been Fight of the Night. Both men came out the gets with the intention to finish the other immediately and both me were bleeding within 30 seconds of the start, as the fight seemed as if it was going to cool down a little, Mori shot for a take-down that would ultimately be the beginning of the end of the fight. From their Mori tried a submission that was defended expertly by a resistant Robertson but from the mount Mori was able to unload strike after strike and eventually, he landed one that left Robertson rocked. From there it was routine, with Mori landing several more undefended before the official jumped in to separate the men as the fans exploded. A fantastic win for Mori on Saturday night, but what does that spell for Jase Robertson? Is Memento Mori in with a shout for a title match with Abel Speed after that dominant win? That remains to be seen, but one thing that is for sure, is keep your eyes on Mori.

Eliod “Scooter” Bunkley Iii (17-4-1)(3-1-1) v “The lion of Matema” Baraka Simengwa (12-9-0)(1-0-0)

A battle of the submission artists was what the fans were expecting to place at Forbidden Violence #20 and unsurprisingly that’s exactly what was delivered. Two of the most technically capable guys, not only on in the division, but on the entire roster faced off Friday night when Bunkley Lii faced Simengwa in the 185lbs division.

Both men were happy to spend near enough the whole fight on the mat, and when you’ve got to competitors this good when down there; the fans love to see it as well! For the entire first round the two men went back and forth controlling the position and attempting submission attempts, only to be thwarted by the other. As the round came to an end, the fans exploded with noise in appreciation for the standard of BJJ and Wrestling they had just witnessed. Most will feel Bunkley Lii edged it as he scored the take down and controlled well early on but it was an incredibly close round.

Initially the second and third round was the same with both men going to the ground and battling for position but Simengwa seemed to tire quicker, and seemed to have less energy to advance his position or move from leaving Bunkley Lii in his favoured top guard. Simengwa seemed to be attempting submissions more in defence to recuperate and protect than to finish Bunkley Lii but “Scooter” got the break and his control paid off when he was able to posture up once again in Simengwa’s guard and deliver some solid ground and pound with the hammer fists that put his opponent’s lights out. At the conclusion of the fight, when it was announced Bunkley Lii had won by TKO Strikes, the crowd applauded both men as they embraced after the hard fought bout. A real gem of a fight and a true education for any aspiring MMA talents, looking at how they can improve their ground game.

Welterweight Title Bout

Champion Adam Duritz (3-0)(3-0) v Mikio “Flame666” Okita (37-22)(4-1)

On paper this bout looked like the ultimate ground vs grappler fight with Duritz having the advantage on his feet in this fight but challenger Okita being considered truly as one of the best in the world in terms of ground game ability and in reality it was very much the case, with both men living up to expectation and taking this title fight deep into the third.

Very little surprising about this bout but it was a solid fight none the less, with the champion Duritz looking great on his feet but no match for Okita once Okita could cover the ground and get the take-down. The finish came deep in the third, after a large stretch where Duritz seemed to be in control, when out of nowhere Okita scored a great take-down. Okita went straight for the triangle hold as soon as they landed and was able to synch it in, with 1minute 30seconds left to run of the round Duritz knew he couldn’t hold out and tapped, surrendering the victory and the title. With a new Welterweight champion – Mikio Okita – the Welterweight division sure looks on it’s way to being one of the most competitive in the company.

Featherweight Title Fight

Champion Jimmy “BabyFace” Brooks (7-2)(3-0) v “Jesse” James Jameson (18-9)(2-0)

At 23 years of age, the man they call “BabyFace”, Jimmy Brooks has been on something of a star turn since his debut in Forbidden Violence, winning every fight and becoming the youngest champion in the organisations relatively short history. Despite his quick rise to success he remains confident in his abilities but he faced a stern challenge from “Jesse” James Jameson (only three years his senior) on Friday night.

And a test it truly was for Brooks who, unfortunately for his fans around the world, failed poorly, when he was comprehensively beaten by a superior opposition in Jameson, who Knocked-Out Brooks in the first round. “BabyFace” never looked like having a chance from the offset as Jameson dominated, with some heavy strikes. Eventually he rocked Brooks and then knocked him down to the mat, as the fans thought it was over, Brooks tried to pull himself together but moments later the fans thoughts were confirmed as “Jesse” landed several heavy shots to knock him into the middle of next week as the official called an end to the bout.

For his in-cage ability Jameson will become an all-time favourite after this bout but for his post-fight persona he’s become known as the marmite man, due to the arrogance he displayed post fight splitting public opinions on him down the middle, it’ll be interesting to see how he is received during his entrance to his next fight.

Undercard

Hannibal “The Cannibal” Die Rücksichtslos (33-19)(2-0) v Oleg Karev (29-14)(Debut)

Oleg Karev may have lost his last two fights in MMA but he now had a fresh start in Forbidden Violence, although his first match would prove to be a test against a man who came into the fight 2-0 in FV. Ultimately, despite an early scare with a strong kick to the mid-section, Karev came through victor in dominant fashion, taking down his opponent to unsettle him and then when they were stood up delivering a big right cross to his opponents draw dropping Rucksichtslos to the floor to take the KO victory.

Diego “The genetic jackhammer" Diaz (13-10-1)(Debut) v DeAngelo Suggs (8-3-0)(Debut)

Two more debutants featuring in this match go head to head as Diaz faced Suggs in what proved to be a three round war between the two. Both men were cut open in the first round but both also arrived at the final bell on their feet, looking like they could go a couple more and after performances that strong, a title shot for the winner – Suggs by Unanimous Decision (28:29) – might not be out the question if he pulls another victory out the bag like that against tough opposition.

New Lightweight Title Match

Nycky Downtime (28-24-2)(Debut) v Ring Vinayagamoorthy (4-5-0)(Debut)

Two debutants will faced off this Saturday just passed for the – at the time – vacant lightweight title; the title itself was on the line for the first time in the history of Forbidden Violence as the organisation have begun to develop their 155lbs lightweight division. The fight itself wasn’t as landmark as the as the significance of it/its result. Vinayagamoorthy took the victory and the title along with it, when he hit a huge right hook and left Downtime turtling on the floor, as the official called a stop to the bout and award Vinayagamoorthy the win by TKO

Opener

Cletus “The All-American” White (15-15)(0-2) v Macadam Baird (10-5)(3-2)

Opening the card on Saturday night was two men who have struggle in recent weeks but in this fight it would prove to be Macadam Baird who would pull off the victory (by TKO) in a performance that was by far the most dominant on the card. Although White got to the second round, he was never in the fight being beaten from pillar to post and looking more like a bloodied rag doll at points during the fight, rather than a former collegiate all American wrestler. Baird finally put White away in the middle of the second round when he hit White hard and then followed in before the official decided enough was enough.

Forbidden Violence delivered one of its best cards tonight, as it brought a full attendance crowd in the Bay it’s 20th weekly show. Highlights of the show were definitely the Welterweight title bout between Okita and Duritz along with the match-up featuring Bunkley Lii and Simengwa. Although the main and co-main events weren’t the best fights on the card in reality, they didn’t disappoint on the other side of things, so FV can really consider this show to be one of their finer and look forward to the long future they hope to have!

Syn’301 – Preview

Live on PPV on Saturday 24th May @ LA Memorial Colossuseum (93,607)

Synchronicity brings you Syn’301 live from the LA Memorial Colossuseum infront of a potential 90,000+ MMA fans and they’ll be in for a real treat, with two title matches and an overly stacked card which will surely get the fans on their feet screaming.

Light-Heavyweight Title Fight

Emitting” Light Diode (18-0) v Devin “Furious” Styles (23-7) *Champion*

Undefeated in his career thus far Diode has been on a tear through the MMA world and has been a champion in every promotion he’s had at least 3 fights at so far. He could continue that theme when he faces a man who had the chance to become the only double champion in Syn, Devin “Furious” Style.

Styles had the chance at the end of last month to become a double champion, holding both the WelterWeight and Light Heavyweight titles, had he have beaten Syn legend, Dante Evangelisti. He couldn’t manage this and although his disappointment was clear, the challenge of defending two belts would have been astronomical even for a competitor of Styles level. Styles will look to bounce back off the unfortunate loss and do something nobody has yet to do, beat this unbeaten upstart Diode to retain his title.

While Style’s style will be fairly predictable as he looks to finish his opponent by knockout – as he has done a whopping 19 times out of 23 victories – his opponents will be a little more unpredictable. Light Diode has a wider range of ability and would most likely struggle to get a great wrestler like Style to the floor, but if he did, would style manage to prevent this BJJ Black Belts holds and submission attempts? It’s going to be a struggle and Styles will want to keep the fight on his feet, although let’s not be mistake, Diode can more than hold his own their too. This should be a great bout and we’ll be looking to see a finish as these men have only been to 10 combined decisions between them.

Heavyweight Title Fight

*Champion* “The Emperor” Genghis Khan (18-3-0) v Brick “No Air” Tires (18-6-1)

The other title fight of the night, is the co-main event and for the Heavyweight Title when Genghis Khan defends his title against Tires. Khan has been on a real roll winning 4 in succession before this bout and will be looking to make his first successful defence after beating Ben Grimm for the title on his second fight night in Syn. Tires on the other hand will be making his 11th appearance for Syn and this will be his first title fight, after impressing in his last two victories against former champion DeAngelo Kenner and Kyle Carlton.

If one thing is for sure about the bout on Saturday, is that going in these two men could not be more evenly matched in terms of skill and popularity, the only major difference between the two is Khan is slightly taller and weighs approximately 19lbs less at natural weight. If you’re looking for a fight with a finish, this is the fight to watch also, with both men loving to trade blows and look to knock their opponents block off – sharing 32 (T)KO victories between them. This fight will have the attention of many coming in and on any other card in the world these two men would easily be considered the main event, which is a testament to the depth of the Syn roster.

The Main Card

“Kamelot” Gunmetal Grey Ii (16-1) v Musashi "Kamikaze" Kato (19-7)

This bout really should be labelled battle of the future as these two young fighters (both aged 29) really do appear to be the future of Synchronicity, with both men arriving with impressive records. Before his debut, a loss @ Supernova to now champion Kostas Charalabous, Musashi Kato was undefeated in 12 professional fights on his way to the Syn main roster. His opponent on Saturday night will be making his debut to a very similar story having only lost one professional fight in his career and on a current 10-fight unbeaten streak, Gunmetal Grey Li will be looking to impress the Syn fans the way he did of organisations of his past.

The two men are almost as evenly matched as our title match in the heavyweight division tonight but some say Grey Li has the edge going into this one but some argue that he does not have the experience of going the distance and has yet to prove he has stellar “Cage Cardio”, unlike his opposition Kato who has gone the three (or even five rounds) and come out victorious 10 times by decision – all of which unanimous! The way I see it is Grey will need to put Kato away early or it could come back to bite him, with Kato having more experience deep in the end of rounds.

“I am” The Sparring Bot (22-10-1) v “The Cardinal” Alphons Draclau (26-7-1)

The bantamweights are up on the main card at Syn’301 as Bot faces Draclau only three weeks after Dralau last thought (a win over Stiener Sting). Both men come into this one hot off the back of big wins, but especially Draclau who will be looking for his fourth in succession. The fight itself is expected to be a back and forth contest taken to the last round as both these men have a reputation for being cardio monsters that can really go the distance. I couldn’t disagree as I see this one going to a decision and hopefully the fans will be in for a real treat as these guys look to go three top class rounds.

“The Creep” Fink McIllhenny (20-5-1) v Rick “Fury” Ross (25-14-0)

Two more fighters making their debuts tonight are Texan raised Frink McIllhenny and British great Rick Ross. McIllhenny left BEEF, undefeated and champion of their lightweight division, to join Synchronicity and prove his true talent and it’ll be tested heavily against Ross who will bring the “Fury” to the fight as he looks to prove it was the right decision by Syn owner Dark Soul to sign him from TTFC after a up and down time there.

The fight itself will receive quite a bit of hype and build up but neither man has been drawn into it refusing to make any comments of their opposition heading into this one. The way a lot of people see it as these two men will want to fight on their feet moving in and out of the clinch but if it does go to the ground McIllhenny will hold the advantage, although with a lack of submission victories to show, his opponent Ross won’t be too threatened and they may well both me looking for KO of the Night award come the end of this one.

Undercard

Leif "Half Sack" Nygard (27-12) v Hektor Troy (24-11)

A very evenly matched fight between two men who are both coming off the back of losses and both could have to consider themselves lucky as they have missed a fight each recently, due to travel complications causing no contests. Both seem legitimately grateful to Synchronicity own Dark Soul for the opportunity to prove their worth and earn back the respect of the fans after their respective incidents but it’ll be interesting to see which fighter excels and grabs the moment. This fight has the potential to go the distance as both competitors have solid tanks and steady jaws, although some fans are putting their money where their mouth is and calling a TKO victory. Odds of a submission win are astronomical as both men have never won by submission.

Alexander Lansing (18-11-1) v Andres “Bolo” Machete (20-10-1)

A fight between two Syn cage veterans is what will occur between Lansing and Machete on Saturday, with Lansing going in the favourite for this one. Lasing has amassed a record of 4-4-1 in Syn and has been trying to get a run on, while “Bolo” currently holds a split even record of 5-5. Machete has had two title shots which he failed to capitalize on and since then has been struggling to maintain any run also, losing his last 3 fights straight, Lansing will look to make that four on the night.. Alexander Lansing has the potential to be one of the more versatile fighters in Synchronicity as a BJJ red belt and an excellent striker the man can do it both on the ground and on his feet, so it’ll be interesting to see where he tries to get the beating on Andres Machete in this one. I see Lansing controlling the fight, but he’ll need to Be On the Look Out for an explosion from Machete that could result in a (T)KO victory for the Philippine.

Prelims

Gabriel Gzrel (28-12) v El "Chesperito" Chavo (19-12)

Neither of these two men are big fans of letting fights go to a decision and normally they both love to stand and bang with their opponent, trading blows till neither competitor in the cage can stand or stay in consciousness. This fight you wouldn’t, and quite frankly shouldn’t, expect anything else as these two are expected to go to war and fight for a finish. The only question you could ask, and every time Gzrel is in a fight we ask this, is should Chavo attempt to take down the former GAMMA man, and look to make him tap for both Chavo’s first submission victory. It’s obviously something easier said than done though, as Gzrel, despite a notably poor ground game, has never been made to tap out and you’d have to say with this young mans confidence, I don’t see this fight being any different

Tony Tauno (23-18-0) v Roberto “GARC” Garcia (26-15-2)

On paper this bout seems about finishing before being finished for Tony Tauno, the 36-year-old veteran will be concerned that over his last 5 bouts, he has been TKO’d 4 times and in every fight he has been rocked or cut in the first round, if not both but he did take a victory in the dying seconds of the 2nd round in his last fight against Rick Reunt in his Syn debut. Garcia will be looking to expose what he calls “Tauno’s glass chin” and put him to sleep as he has done with his opponents in his last two victories. Fans are all thinking – or at least hoping – one thing, whoever gets the victory, may also be receiving a KO of the night bonus too.

"Double Double" Tim Horton (16-12) v Elvis "Young Freak" Ronan (18-10)

Calgary’s Tim Horton is the ultimate submission guy, with 13 victories via submission out of 16 it’s clear to see where he’ll be looking to take this fight. His opponent on Saturday the 24th will very much want to avoid it turning into a grapple fest, as Polands, Poznan boom squad, Elvis Ronan, will be looking to stand and strike against his opponent. Ronan has amassed 18 victories and 13 of them have come via (T)KO, so fans can rest assure, they will be in for a true classic to open proceedings at the weekends event as a thoroughbred striker will face off against a ground game specialist.

Synchronicity treats its fans to two more title fights on this card and not only that, it packs the rest of the card with top fights. One that’s particularly caught our eye here at Championship Press Association is the match up of “The Creep” Fink McIllhenny v Rick “Fury” Ross, as the Yank and the Brit will be looking to impress the crowds and we’re used to seeing them go all out to do so in their debuts for Syn. This should be another great night for Synchronicity and it’s fans and we hope to see you their live in person or watching on PPV come Saturday night!

FV #21 – GAME TIME! (Preview)

Live @ MMA Grand (17,157) on Saturday 24th May

Out of MMA Grand for the first time in its existence Forbidden Violence brings to you their 21st weekly show as they present, GAME TIME! A card headlined by the arrival of the former no.1 265lbs fighter on the Tycoon world. We also have a title match in the superheavyweight division with Mirko McCraken defending his title against Nick Foles.

Fight Card at a glance;

25-year-old young gun gets a shot at the former #1

As Ole Solseng (13-6-0) face the man formally known as Paul Smith (26-7-1) in a super heavyweight showdown!

Until a few weeks ago, MMA fans across the world knew the name of Paul Smith, a man some say is clinically insane due his habbit of living in Camel manure. Smith recently changed his name also; to match his new found Islamic believes, to Mohammed Sheik Allah Ali Baba Mohammed. Across the cage from his on Saturday night will be a top competitor in “Big Iron”, who had an outstanding start to his career until his recent struggles in Evil Empire but Soleseng is ready to bounce back against that former #1 265+lbs fighter of the world.

This fight will be a tough contest, as Mohammed will be battling the forces of expectancy and Soleseng will look to overcome the odds by putting a beating on Saudi Arabian. This fight will be evenly contested on the feet and this is where Solseng will look to keep it, as if the fight goes to the ground, Mohammed’s BJJ and experience may come into play and he’ll look to seize control of the fight and Ole. “Big Irons” biggest issue will be predictability, as he loves to throw hands and will look for that big punch to put his opposition on dream-street, Mohammed on the other hand is less predictable and will be looking to pick up the win the way he finds most suitable.

Heavyweight Hard Hitters Fight Away From Home

Battle of the Russians as Rubezhnoe faces Moscow with a bout between Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko (36-24) and Oleg Karev (30-14)

Two veteran Russians face off on Saturday night when “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko matches up with Oleg Karev in a battle that the fans won’t want to miss. Fedor Emelianenko makes his debut in Forbidden Violence and will be looking to impress after a large period in top organisation Ascension. Karev made his debut only last week at FV #20 and wanted compete a mere one week later due to the profile of his opposition. He began his FV career with an incredibly dominant first round KO victory over Die Rücksichtslos.

Of the two fighters Emelianenko is more versatile, able to pick up victories by either submission or KO but Karev has an intimidating and powerful stand-up game, with strikes to put some fear into the most powerful of opposition. The pace of the fight will most likely be guided by Emelianenko, as if he wants to take Karev down, he may struggle but if he gets it, the fight will be at his pace. Karev will want to keep the distance and use his reach to strike from distance but if it’ll be successful remains to be seen. While Emelianenko will prefer the take down and ground game, his stand-up should not be underestimated. One thing is really for sure, you do not want to have a bathroom break during this fight!

Super-Heavyweight Title Fight

No more needs to be said, it’s champion Mirko "The Angel Of Death" McCracken (17-7) making his first defence against Nick Foles (5-0)

The only title match of the card has the feeling of being an absolute slug fest between two of Forbidden Violence’s hottest fighters at the moment. “The Angel of Death” enters the fight champion and will be looking to seal the fate of hot, young, undefeated upstart Nick Foles. Foles may be a youngster but he is very old school in his no gimmicks and simply hard work attitude, which has caught the eye of many since his time in FV – even more so due to the fact he’s 3-0 in the company.

A fight like this only has one appropriate ending, a big bang finish, with a huge knockout after several rounds of heavy shots breaking down the defence of the other man, cutting and knocking down one another till the other man is completely unable to stand. That is in an idea world but if any fight on the card was going to give you that. I’d be this one with Mirko winning 16 times by (T)KO and every Foles fight ending with one man out cold on the canvas, we hope to see the same. While the champion should go in favourite, it’s hard to look past the fact that Foles has finished every opponent in the first round, this is one to really keep your eye on folks and we here at Championship Press Association certainly are.

Atlantic War in the Cage

Yank Damien "RDX" Garcia (19-9) faces the Limey Ford "The Alien" Prefect (18-13)

“RDX” is a man of many things inside the Forbidden Violence cage, but one of them is not decision finished. He has only ever had 7 in his 28 fight career and 5 of which he has lost; this is something he shares with “The Alien”. Prefect is also the ultimate submission man in not only FV but also the world of MMA, he looks to take advantage of a worn down opponent and force him to tap the second he leaves any limbs exposed.

The only thing Prefect may struggle with in this fight is managing to get the take-down on a very resilient wrestler like Damien Garcia as this cross Atlantic Ocean battle takes place. The American will most likely want to keep the fight on his feet and look to clinch box to utilize his strength, although he will have to be careful for the Muay Thai elbows and knees of “The Alien” as he isn’t afraid to show. If they do go to the ground, Prefect won’t have an easy time of getting the submission set, but if he gets a hold, he sure as hell won’t let go!

Undefeated Streaks in FV on the Line

Bang Bang (31-17) takes a shot at stopping Hildebrand Gardiner Wright Blackwood (15-11) from getting his third FV victory in a row

Both fighters are undefeated in Forbidden Violence and both will be looking to keep it that way with the more experienced Bang Bang looking to knock off the younger Hildebrand Gardiner Wright Blackwood. Despite only being 6 years Blackwood’s senior, Bang Bang has significantly more experience in the cage than his younger opponent, having fought near double the fights Blackwood has – will this play a factor in Saturdays fight?

Most feel the veteran may be taking a challenge to far as Blackwood appears to be both the stronger grappler on the ground with a Black Belt in BJJ and the superior striker but how will the cage experience of Bang factors into the fight remains to be seen and makes this bout hard to predict. From comments made by the Bang camp, it seems he may try to make the fight scrappy, less about technique and more about heart but he’ll have to bring Blackwood down to that level for that to work and the 29-year-old has been very impressive showing no signs that tactic will work if tried on.

Cage of Explosions

When the Human Handgrenade, Charles "The Hand Grenade" Handly (25-18) looks to blow Marlon "The Predator" Worthy’s (25-16) plan of beating him to pieces

If you asked me to name two fighters who are so similar yet also worlds apart it would be these two, in terms of skill and record they are very similar but their paths there are very different. Worthy has put together several solid runs and lost a couple fights here and there in the way most fighter’s careers turn out once they reach a certain level of competition. “The Hand Grenade” Handly really has had an explosive career and in his last organisation he went on a massive run of 8 consecutive wins, with 5 of those being title fights but in his 5th defence of the Bushido 155lbs title Handly began a 5 straight losing streak. This is something Worthy will be looking to capitalize on as Handly looks for a fresh start.

This is a fight that could finish at any point but really does have the potential to go the distance, both fighters know what it takes to get a knock-out but will they want to go all out or will they be content to trade and try counter each other. Either is a reasonable possibility as their records consist of a near 50/50 split of (T)KO and Decision victories. If you can count on one thing, it is that these two veterans of the cage will be putting on a show for the fans and it isn’t a fight you want to miss.

And Finally…. The Undercard!

"Quick Popper" Orville Redenbacher (35-13-1) vs Kingsley Ciprut (16-11-1)

After having fought in GAMMA and Syndicate, some would’ve been forgiving in saying Ciprut was taking a step down but credit is to be given to the Forbidden Violence roster as he currently stands 1-1 in FV giving more fuel to the fire to the debate of just how strong the FV roster is! “Quick Popper” will want to make that 1-2 as he looks to return to the kind of form he had before losing his title fight against Barksdale which appeared to shake his confidence after the tough decision loss. This fight will even go to a decision or finish in the first round in the eyes of most, so look for an explosive (T)KO finish early or settle in for the long haul as these two warriors fight it out to see who can come out on top.

Mark "Mean Streak" Tanner (15-14) vs The Steel Penn Alliance (5-9)

3 fights and 3 losses for The Steel Penn Alliance, he just can’t catch a break at the moment having really been outclassed in every single one of his bouts and some are questioning if this will be his last fight as his contract comes up at the end. Tanner on the other has faced some very stiff opposition and put out some solid performances unlucky really only to have the one win since joining the org. An impressive win on Saturday for Tanner could really secure him a new contract with Forbidden Violence. As you look at it this fight will most likely come down to a battle of confidence and heart, from which they’ll have to draw from deep down to take the win but you have to feel that Penn Alliance won’t take “Mean Streak” Tanner the distance as “RDX” or Barksdale did, so we are most likely looking at a first or second round finish in this one.

Brian Redban (15-10) vs "Tap U Out" Teddy Bass (8-2)

A cardio machine in the shape of Brian Redban looks to give his fans the full money’s worth having gone the distance 13 times out of the 25 he has fought. His opposition Teddy Bass prefers to finish the fights early using any number of different holds. While Bass does have some knock-out power, he prefers a technical battle and will want the fight on the ground so he can try gain the submission. Radban’s versatile style may be a risk in this fight as he faces Bass and his ground game may not quiet be enough to hold up to that of Bass’ but that remains to be seen. An interesting fight indeed, between two guys most definitely on the rise despite struggles in recent months that they’ll look to glaze over with the help of an impressive win on Saturday.

Karl Pilkington (4-1) vs Jeremy Henderson (12-11)

Jeremy Henderson makes his debut for FV off the back of two losses, although performances prior to that were impressive – although since leaving CFFC he’s never quiet looked the same but we’ll see what he has to offer the Nevada crowd. While Pilkington looks to get back on track with a win after losing his debut in Forbidden Violence against Oil Slick but maybe that was just cage rust as he had come back off a 9 month hiatus. It’ll be interesting to see how Henderson approaches this one, as he has the advantage on the stand-up but has been more prolific when going to the ground. While Pilkington favours the ground, he knows how strong his opposition is there and may have to adapt.

Forbidden Violence has done a great job thus far of delivering cards that have kept the fans on their feet and excited for the next. Obviously some huge hype around the arrival of Mohammed Sheik Allah Ali Baba Mohammed (formally Paul Smith) but Ole Solseng is one of the most popular fighters on the card tonight despite being huge underdog and will have the fans in his corner. FV continues to grow well, from being infront of 5,000 people 3 weeks ago, to a potential 17,000+ is huge and we can’t wait to see you their at MMA Grand!

FV #21 – Game Time

Live @ MMA Grand (17,157) on Saturday 24th May

On its debut at the MMA Grand arena, Forbidden Violence delivered its best ever event this past Saturday (24th May) as a stacked card, featuring a title match between two Super-havyweights in McCraken and Foles faced off. The main event is where our review begins with the man formerly known as Paul Smith faced Ole Solseng.

Main Event

Mohammed Sheik Allah Ali Baba Mohammed (26-7-1) v Ole “Big Rig” Solseng (13-6-0)

The man formerly known as PaulSmith but now as devoted Muslim, Mohammed Sheik Allah Ali Baba Mohammed, faced off against Ole “Big Rig” Solseng on Saturday night, with Mohammed being strong favourite in this one on his highly anticipated debut for Forbidden Violence. Manager Texas Goon before the fight was looking for Solseng to turn his “Big Rig” around after a disappointing last fight which resulted in a TKO loss against Holy Jenova. This fight was possibly the most anticipated non-title fight in the history of the company and boy, did it live up to the expectation!

The fight went the full 15 minute distance as the two top-class competitors fought back and forth trying to gain an advantage. One question asked coming in was would Solseng be able to stand up to the intense wrestling and ground game of Mohammed and that question was answered very simply early on in the fight. No. Mohammed scored a take down before a strike was thrown and proceeded to pour on pressure on Solseng before a stand-up forced by the ref but as the fight went on as “Mo” scored a further 4 takedowns in the fight and battered his opponent when forced to trade blows with “Big Rig”, cutting him open before the end of the first.

When it came for the judges to make their decision the result was never in doubt and showed no real signs of a result away from a Mohammed Sheik Allah Ali Baba Mohammed win, which he was awarded by unanimous decision (30:27). In this fight Solseng may have shown some great determination and strength not to be finished before the final bell but it does raise questions about whether he can compete with competitors at the top level. A question with Texas Goon (now former manager of Solseng) wouldn’t give a clear answer on. Later in an interview “Big Rig” said he and his manager split because he felt he wasn’t allowed or given the opportunity to train in the best facilities. It’ll be interesting to see if Ole Solseng can make a comeback with a new manager and if it’ll be working alongside Forbidden Violence.

Co-Main Event

Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (36-24) v Oleg Karev (30-14)

Everybody had been calling it, everybody had be predicting how this would play out. Karev is a stand and bang guy and while Emelianenko can box with the best, he would have to get to the ground to find any success against a phenomenal Muay Thai boxer like Karev. It would be difficult enough getting him down but if “The Last Emperor” didn’t at least try he would’ve survive long, just like the 23 who Karev has already knocked out during his career.

As the fight began there was a huge buzz around the arena, these two former champions, titans of the Heavyweight division and here they were, meeting in Forbidden Violence on “The Last Emperor’s” debut. The buzz turned to shock, as Emilianenko failed to get close to taking down Karev, as the Russian pummelled the other Russian. After only a couple minutes Emelianenko defence caved in and Karev landed a huge blow to send his opposition to the mat. With the fans going ballistic for the finish Karev let Emelianenko up to his feet, only to finish him with a couple of huge punches busting him open and leaving him out on the mat, to take the KO victory.

Super Heavyweight Title Fight

Mirko “The Angel of Death” McCracken(17-7) v Nick Foles (5-0)

Not many fights get built up to the extent this one does and neither do many fighters get as much hype and press as “The Angel of Death”. Saturday night he faced Nick Foles in a 5 rounds of 5 minutes title match to decide who the best Super Heavyweight in Forbidden Violence really is. McCraken was looking for his 3rd straight win and his first defence of his title while Foles wanted to take the belt and become the undefeated champion of the weight class, something very few achieve in their professional MMA careers.

They may have had 25 minutes but all these two men needed where one and a half as, in one of the biggest shocks of the night, Nick Foles defeated “The Angel of Death” by TKO after a mere 1minute24seconds. The finish came when Foles decided to end the feeling out process with a huge uppercut out of nowhere that flawed McCraken and Foles didn’t dive in under the assumption McCraken was out but with no stoppage Foles waved Mirko to his feet and they fought on, for 10 more seconds. Foles landed the final blow when he countered with a nice right to the jaw and then pounded McCraken with strikes against the cage until the official stopped the bout. The new champion was received greatly by the Forbidden Faithful as they gave him a standing ovation as he was awarded the belt. The target is on your back now Foles, can you handle it?

Main Card

Damien “RDX” Garcia(19-9) v Ford Prefect (18-13)

These two great competitors came into this fight with contrasting fortunes as “RDX” had won his last FV fight despite losing his first and Perfect coming off the back of a hard loss in his last Hilo Fight appearance. It was Garcia who took the win and gave himself back to back victories with a 2-1 record in FV. In another ground dominated submission and holds based fight that Garcia sneaked the win by Unanimous Decision (29:28). Garcia’s successful striking and ground’n’pound while on the mat impressed the judges more than Perfects defensive submissions. Some though with Ford coming into a new organisation he’d feel a fresh start but his hard luck continues giving “The Alien” back to back loses.

“Bang” Bang Bang (32-17) v Hildebrand Gardiner Wright Blackwood (15-11)

These two fighters coming in seemed really evenly matched on their feet and the ground, so the question really was which man would take the initiative and take control. Outside of a really quick, clinical combination from bang the one round fight was fairly uneventful until the finish, with both men mainly feeling out and neither man landing a particularly large amount of shots. The finish came when Bang landed a solid overhand right knocking Blackwood to the canvas face first, which Bang followed up with a series of shots raining down on a motionless Blackwood before the official could intervene to award a TKO victory to Bang. Controversy surrounding the speed in which an official holts a MMA bout being called into question once against here at FV #21 because surely that was a slow stoppage as Blackwood appeared to be out cold as he hit the mat.

Charles “The Hand Grenade” Handly v Marlon “The Predator” Worthy

The human “Hand Grenade” lived up to his name with an aggressive and explosive performance when he met the man they call “The Predator”. Handly had joined FV looking to end a recent run of 5 straight losses and was looking to prove to both the world and himself that he could still get the job done. He definitely proved that as he controlled the fight, managing 3 takedowns and nearly forcing Worthy into submitting on his way to claiming a unanimous decision victory (30:27, 30:27, 29:28 in Handly’s favour). The fight was one of the more mediocre on the card, with the explosive takedowns and slams from Handly being the highlights of the fight. It won’t win any awards or gather much attention but it was the much needed win “The Hand Grenade” was after as he searched for a win to boost his confidence. A fresh start and proving grounds for both men with very conflicting starts to being their respective FV careers.

Undercard

Orville Redenbacher (35-13-1) v Kingsley Ciprut (16-11-1)

The only fight of the undercard not to make it to the third round saw Orville Redenbacher get battered for the entire first round by Ciprut who cut him open on a couple of occasions early one but at the end of the round Kingsley Cipruts moment was stumped as he looked for the kill. The 30second break was all Redenbacher needed to come back into the second a (almost) new man and his performance reflected that. Redenbacher controlled the second round before knocking down Ciprut with a big uppercut before following in for the kill. Ciprut held his own, despite being on dream-street, and the kid has a solid chin but it wasn’t enough as Redenbacher took the W by TKO. The heart Redenbacher showed in this one will have really impressed his coaches and fans alike to come back from such a beating in the first round!

Mark “Mean Streak” Tanner (15-14) v The Steel Penn Alliance (5-9)

As you watch many men grow, there are always a couple that fall away. Alliance is one of those men who has not been able to get it done and has steadily fallen away from being a hot prospect to another guy who threw away his chance but King had thrown him one more match to impress. Unfortunately it was another story of how Alliance got rag dolled then put out for the count as his opponent – in this case Mark Tanner – takes the victory. Alliance managed to get to the third round before an incredible uppercut spelled the signs of the end as Tanner fired of undefended shots to a broken Penn Alliance to finish the fight.

Brian Redban (15-10) v Teddy Bass (8-2)

This fight was easily one of the most technical contests on the card with a combined 21 submission attempts between the two grapplers. Teddy Bass took his win total up to 9 and made himself a more notable contender when he took the unanimous decision 30:27. A result while well deserved, he was not content with expressing his disappointment not to finish his opponent and make him a stand out contender for James Jameson’s title. Even without finishing Redban it does generate interest though and it’ll be interesting to see just how FV owner Frank King sees it.

Karl Pilkington (4-1) v Jeremy Henderson (12-11)

Most opening fights are viewed as a way to get the crowd engaged as two fairly unknown fighters go and give a solid performance, Pilkington and Henderson did this and more! The two men engaged in a three round war that did not only grab the audience’s attention but also their respect and admiration as this was one of the best fights of the night. The fight had it all, stand-up, solid ground game, takedowns, counters, the lot and it got really interesting in the final round.

With just over a minute gone Pilkington countered Henderson’s leg kick with a huge right that would knock down any man on the roster but Henderson stayed composed as Pilkington dived down and landed another huge shot rocking him, but Henderson wasn’t out. He tried to get hold of a counter submission with the next thrown punch and then transitioned into the guillotine which Pilkington scraped out of. The finish finally came when Pilkington got out into side control and landed a massive shot, opening Henderson up to shots he could no longer defend forcing the official to step in with 2 minutes to go. Pilkington walks off with the win by TKO. Both men can consider themselves unlucky as had their fight been on the main card, a lot of fans feel they would’ve been awarded Fight of the Night.

Fight of the Night: Mohammed Sheik Allah Ali Baba Mohammed vs Ole Solseng

KO of the Night: Oleg Karev

Sub of the Night: N/A

Forbidden Violence truly delivered an amazing event this past Saturday, continuing to outdo themselves every week. The event was so impressive it received a rating of 332.75 from governing body MMA Tycoon! Real standout performances of the night have to be form the main events, with Mohammed and Solseng wining fight of the night and Karev winning KO of the night but also from the opening bout between Pilkington and Henderson which could’ve been fight of the night on any other card. The audience were pumped and great as normal with a large number of fans (along with more emerging fighters) wearing Forbidden Violence shirts, produced by Championship Clothing. If you haven’t already, you really need to get yourself to the next FV show, keep an eye on this company because it’s really coming on fast.

Syn’302 – Preview

Coming to you live on PPV from the LA Memorial Colossuseum (capacity 93,607) on Saturday 31st May

As we look forward to when Synchronicity will bring you their three-hundred and second weekly show live on PPV, we take a closer look at the fighters and match-ups that fill the card as 20 fighters in 10 top, world class fights give it their all to become the best. Another stacked card with 2 title fights is unlikely to disappoint so we’ll start there.

Lightweight Title Fight

*Champion* Michael "Nuts of Wonder" Patton (46-15-1) vs Derek "The Artist" Riggs (29-17-0)

The champion Michael Patton comes into this fight one of the hottest properties in the world of MMA today, he is currently (as of 26/5/14) the number 2 Lightweight fighter on the planet and the number 14 P4P fighter out their according to the World MMA Tycoon – the worlds governing body – rankings. His opponent, British journeyman, Derek “The Artist” Riggs, has been across the globe competing and earned forced way into the Synchronicity lightweight title pitcher with 4 straight wins against tough competition. This will be a big fight for both men as Patton will be looking to prove he is a deserving champion after losing against Solovyev in a non-title fight after winning the belt by defending it for the third time.

The fight should be an even contest with both men looking to finish, although I feel the champion goes into the fight with a slight advantage of being able to be more versatile. Both men can wrestle well but Patton’s BJJ may be a class above Riggs so that will be a large factor to play in, particularly with the impressive RNC win in Patton’s last fight. The stand-up will be the decider and which man can be more clinical as this is where they are evenly matched. If Patton starts to control the cage when they are on their feet I see no way for Riggs to take it, while If “The Artist” starts landing some big shots Patton may be able to take the fight to the ground for a change of pace. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out and it is deservedly our main event of the evening. The number 2 and the number 14, in the world, going toe-to-toe in this one ladies and gentlemen, it should be a classic!

Welterweight Fight for the Belt

Yang Tao (30-10) vs Sergiy Sklyar (32-8-1) *Champion*

The other match-up on the card with title implications is that between Chinese challenger Yang Tao and the Ukrainian Champion Sergiy Skylar. Tao has been on a in recent weeks after settling into Syn, picking up three wins on the bounce to earn his title shot and Tao will be looking to make it four against Skylar despite going in as underdog. Skylar has already had an illustrious career before he reached Syn but one he was here, he turned that into a potential Hall of Fame worthy one. In his 8 fights in Synchronicity, Skylar has won all bar one of them, after winning the title on his first night in the organisation his only loss has been to former champion Clotran. Skylar came back in phenomenal fashion winning his last 4 fights straight and he’ll be looking for his second title defence in a row on Saturday to be successful.

Skylar should take control of this one and it will take a big effort from Tao to beat the current number 5 in his weight class (a ranking that many feel should be much high) but if anybody can do it, it’ll be Yang Tao. Expect this one to finish from a standing position or to go the distance as these men combined have picked up 29 (T)KO’s and 32 Decision finished – with the only submission victory being from Skylar over half a year ago. This bout has fight of the night written all over it and we here at Championship Press Association just hope it lives up to that!

Syn’299 Rematch

Apollo Jackson (17-3-1) vs Evgeniy Malkin (17-6-2)

We here at Championship Press Association have previously covered this fight, when the two men faced off at Syn’299. On that occasion the fight was so closely contested that it resulted in a draw after the 15 minutes were up and there’s no reason to believe we should expect anything else from these two great, evenly matched warriors. The most bemusing thing about the draw these two men had last time around was that it was Malkin’s 2nd draw in three fights – with his debut in Syn being a rematch between him and Lance Templeton after their draw in another organisation. In most circumstances when a draw is awarded it is hugely controversial but in the last bout between the two it was received largely by agreement from the fans as there was nothing between the men – with chants of “1 more round” even breaking from the audience wanting to see a decider then and there.

The Man from Down Under comes Up Top Stateside

Dragon Slayer (20-7-1) vs Damon "Pretzel" Pierce (32-18)

Damon Pierce comes into this bout on an incredible 7 fight winning streak and will be looking to make that 8, as his opponent from New Zeland will be looking to “slay” the “Pretzel” and take the victory to take his Synchronicity record to 6-3. Last time out Dragon Slayer beat Hektor Troy to stop a sliding streak of losses which had amounted to two and he’ll want to make sure he utilizes his advantage in the striking department to KO Pierce, take the win and keep his momentum rolling. Pierce on the other side of the cage will be staring on unfazed and confidence in his abilities to deliver when he needs to, taking the fight to the ground where he holds a strong advantage over every man on the Syn roster and grab another submission victory to take his tally to 16. He truly is a BJJ king and is by far one of the most impressive fighters on the ground at this level.

The Heart of the Bahama’s takes on the Serbian (MMA) King

A J Hearts (28-9) vs Zoran Miloshevich (27-14)

Another closely matched fight on paper between two all-rounders in Hearts and Miloshevich, with the only majory difference being in Hearts wrestling ability, the former collegiate grappler will look to control the fight and if Miloshevich’s striking gets too much (as it has done for 19 opponents he’s KO’d) then he’ll look to take the fight to the ground and slow the pace. Miloshevich will not have this luxury of a “B-plan” but the 34-year-old veteran will feel he won’t need it, as the confidence he has in hands is massive and alongside that. Even if the fight does get to the ground Hearts will have to be careful as Zoran has strong reputation for being able to counter into submissions and lock them in tight.

Will Gods Work Help us see a Finish Tonight

"God's Worker" Jonah Sumrall (18-6) vs Alfonso Lopez (16-5)

Sumrall with be praying to his god that he can get back to winning ways after 2 losses and 1 NC (due to missing location after poor weather prevented him arriving at the arena) in his last 4 bout , while his opponent, Alfonso Lopez, will be hoping that he can continue to see himself on the rise, taking back-to-back wins after a three fight period without a win prior to beating Doug Graves at Supernova V.

Neither man is keen on a decision finish – with a combined 4 wins by decisions – so fans should be looking forward to seeing an exciting and explosive finish to this fight with no need to the judge’s to get involved. Both competitors will be keen to trade blows and fans are hoping they will do so not needing to go to ground as these two phenomenal strikers face off. While both Sumrall and Lopez haven’t verbally promised anything, their mannerisms and reports of training practice say we are in for a slug fest, it should be a good one, so tune in on PPV to watch.

Undercard

Sergei "El Fenómeno” Kharitonov (19-8-0) v J “Face” Breaker (48-29-1)

The final fight before the main card is between two fighters who are both at crossroads in their careers as they both come in off the back off losses and as time goes by, neither man is getting any younger – particularly Breaker who is now 40. Both men will be looking to impress in this fight and show they are deserving of higher ranked opposition and a potential title shot in the future. We could be seeing the beginning of the end of J’s career, as if he loses tonight it’ll be his third straight and he’ll remain un-victorious in Syn. Kharitonov will look to show his debut victory was not a fluke and he can get the job done following his hard loss against Freyr in the first round. If one thing is for sure, it’s that these men need a win. And they need it in impressive finishing fashion.

Thor Berserk (20-10) v Charles “The Hammer” Martel (46-15-0)

Unfortunately the previous, and only, time I’ve written on a fight involving Charles “The Hammer” Martel was in his previous bout where he did not live up to his billing as former champion and the fans will be hoping he does this time around. Thor Berserk has never not been to the final round of a fight since joining Synchronicityafter a spell in the Canadian Fight Championship and has looked impressively durable if nothing else despite only taking 2 wins. These two fighters may want to finish but this has a decision all over it!

Mr Bronze (25-15-0) v Kaoklai Khanomtom (30-11-3)

Evenly matched are the two men that face on in this one and a lot are expecting this to go to the wire, with Khamomtom having gone the distance 9 times in his last 11 fights and Bronze 6 in his last 8. Bronze is seen to have the advantage in this one as the two men are evenly matched up on the feet but if it goes to the ground Bronze is the better BJJ player and will look to capitalize (to earn only his third submission win ever!).

Makao Matsumoto (23-16-1) v “Captain” Tsubasa J Champ (19-8)

The opener to the card and first up will be the match-up of two of the new boys to Synchronicity, as Matsumoto makes his debut and the “Captain” looks to deliver a better performance than he did in his first fight in Syn (a loss at the hands of Leanrdo Alves by Submission). Both men have come across from BFE - Brazilian Fight Entertainment – before the closure of the company and are looking to make Syn their home. Even though they were in BFE together at the same time, the two have never met before and it’ll be interesting to see who has the edge. It is thought that Matsumoto will be looking to utilize his ground game and take another submission victory against J Champ who prefers to stand and bang although does have great takedown defence and can escape even the best submission artists. We look forward to seeing how quickly these men can get the audience engaged to the fight.

As always Synchronicity will bring a world class card to you live on PPV, featuring two title fights but also some real potential Fight on the Night matches such as Jackson vs Malkin 2. If you haven’t got the Pay-Per-View ordered yet or want to attend the event live, you really should as any fan of MMA – casual or hardcore – will not be left disappointed. As always at the end of the night the “Of The Night” awards will be awarded by Reaper Combatwear and we have a lot of contenders for that converted Fight of the Night award this Saturday coming.

Forbidden Violence vs Honor FC 1

Live at the MMA Grand Arena (capacity: 17,157) in Las Vegas, NV

Event Coverage Sponsored by Championship Clothing - Sponsorship, Reasonably Priced Quality Clothing and Negotiable Laundry

Forbidden Violence brings to you their first competitive monthly event against fellow rising organisation – Honor Fighting Championship. We here at Championship Press Association couldn’t be more excited about covering this event as Parks takes on Pitbull, Speed faces off with Rin and Johnson tried to kick us off to a great start against Martell. It’ll be an action packed event so watch out for it.

FV vs HFC – Main Event

*TEAM VIOLENCE* Lyoto Parks (16-5-0) v Roy "The Wardog" Pitbull (25-12-1) *TEAM HONOR*

This is the one most, including myself, feel it’ll come down to; it’s the last of the three Team Violence vs Team Honor fights on Saturday night in the first FV vs HFC events. Representing Forbidden Violence is Lyoto Parks who won his debut fight for FV at FV#18 in the first round. He’ll face the man they call “The Wardog” over in Honor FC, who has been on a tear through their featherweight division, already having won all 5 of his fights for them since his arrival from – now defunct – HEROIC.

The most worrying thing Parks will have to worry about is the versatility of Roy Pitbull, who since being in Honor FC has shown just what he is capable of and that he can truly beat anybody from any position. “The Wardog” boast two submissions (a kneebar and a triangle choke hold), two TKO’s and one decision victory. On the other side of the cage you have the Forbidden Violence new boy, who holds the weight of the company on his shoulders tonight, who will be focused on trading blows and knockout his opponent. While Parks has got solid BJJ skills and is a decent wrestler, he will want to use his wrestling to keep the fight standing if Pitbull bring it in the clinch or go for a takedown. This will be it fans, the fight to watch, it could all go down to the wire and the pressure will be madly on the home fans favourite if it’s 1-1 coming into this fight after the two earlier in the evening.

Co-Main Event

Doug Graves (23-13) v "The Saviour" Philip Negan (11-9)

This may not be a Forbidden Violence vs Honor Fight Championship bout but this bout between Graves and Negan is drawing almost as much attention as the bragging rights fights and that’s why it rightfully has been named the co-main event of the evening. Neither man is coming in on great form in recent bouts with Graves having only won 2 of his last 5 bouts and Negan on a two fight losing streat but that hasn’t seemed to knock the confidence of either man, if anything it has just boosted their training focus and intensity.

The fight is somewhat predictable in terms of the game-plans each competitor will be coming into the bout with, as Graves has the huge advantage on the striking front and Negan will need to avoid getting into a scrappy brawl or trading off blows as he’ll most likely come off worst. With that being said, Negan appears to hold the advantage on the ground. “The Saviour” has picked up 7 of his 11 wins by submission and Graves has never picked pa submission win so if they begin to roll, Negan could lock in a hold tight and finish from there. It may not have a major impact on the organisations credibility in the same way Rin vs Speed, Parks vs Pitbull does but it has a massive impact on the fighter’s futures and their credibility as serious threats to their respective future opponents.

FV vs HFC – 2nd Fight

*TEAM HONOR* Kaito "Tsunami" Rin (20-7-0) v Abel “Amazin” Speed (24-8-1) *TEAM VIOLENCE*

In the eyes of most, Abel “Amazin” Speed is more than what his nickname suggests, he is seen as the near perfect stand-up fighter, with lighting quick strikes and superb wrestling to keep him on his feet to get the KO. Coming across from Honor FC is Kaito Rin, the man known as the “Tsunami” and that’s because of the energy this man can produce. Rin isn’t just energy though, he has something that a lot claim to have, but very few can prove it, a near unlimited gas tank. This man is the definition of Cardio Machine and his 14 decision victories show that he can go the distance and still be impressive round after round. If anybody can threaten the FV fan favourite it is this man!

If Rin gets a finish it will likely be from submission, he has picked up 5 of those in his career but he definitely prefers to control his opponent and go the distance but out of the two he is the only one to have lost any of his last five bouts. Abel Speed has been phenominal – as you’d expect for the Middleweight Champion – having won his last 7 fights in a row and shows no sign of slowing down now! This has real potential to be fight of the night and if Team Violence is going to pick up a win tonight, my money would be on Abel Speed to do so. Can he make it 8 in a row and beat an incredibly impressive Kaito Rin, we’ll find out Saturday when these two square off.

Main Event

Jase Robertson (22-10) v "The Lion Of Matema” Baraka Simengwa (12-10)

Both men are off the back of losses but this shouldn’t be a distraction from the quality of the fight when you look at the quality of opponent they were defeated by (Abel Speed, Memento Mori and Bunkley Lii respectively). This fight attracts a lot of intrigue in my opinion, as Robertson – the ultimate stand and bang guy, with superb takedown defence and near faultless striking – faces the submission beast, “The Lion of Matema” Baraka Simengwa. Neither fighter is particularly hyped right now by Forbidden Violence (given recent records) but they are both still firm fan favourites and this is why this fight is so high on the card with so little hype. The Forbidden Faithful with go nuts for these guy win, lose or draw – the only question is what the result will emerge as. A 12 submission win for Simengwa or Robertson taking his 21st (T)KO – because nobody sees this fight going 10minutes, let alone 15!

Grigory "Iron Man" Gukepshev (10-2) v "The Mountain" Arnie McDougle (21-12)

The “Iron Man” is 10 and 2 but one of those 2 losses came in a fight here at Forbidden Violence when he made the step up, while “The Mountain” made a similar transition - although he did it by beating Paul Brown to take the W. These two will be expect to finish each other – or that’s at least ours and the fans hopes with 40 fights these men have competed in finishing before the final bell (out of a combined total of 45). Not much to say on these two except you’ve got to hope they go out and deliver, what a win would do for either man’s career here in FV can only be good and with reputations and records like theirs the sky is the limit – do they have the mentality and skillset to reach it though.

Samak “Zen” Tiyapairat (23-12) v Ange “Touchy” Fili (11-4)

This fight appears a bit of a miss-match on paper but when you look at how impressive Tiyapairat was in his fight against John Wensink – taking a win by TKO in the second round – it is obvious why he has taken on this fight against a seemingly superiors opponent. That opponent is Ange “Touch” Fili, the man who’s career since coming to FV shows a 2 -1 record with Mika Okita being the man to get the better of him. Fili has yet to go past the first round – win or lose – in his time with the promotion and fans will want more of the same with exciting fights and frantic early finishes, the only contrast to this is how deep “Zen” likes to take a round, taking the majority of his wins by decision after going the distance. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out but it’s got the potential to finish anywhere with both men liking to stand and strike if pushed into doing so.

FV vs HFC – Fight 1

*TEAM VIOLENCE* "Kid Southern Lights" Rebel Johnson (16-17) v Oberyn Martell (13-7) *TEAM HONOR*

Submission vs Stand-up, Violence vs Honor, it’s Johnson vs Martell in the third Forbidden Violence vs Honor Fighting Championship fight of the first cross-promotion event and this will get the ball rolling. If you believe in momentum then this will be the fight which could set the tone for the night and begin either a great night in the history of FV or set a very long, nerve racking night for owner Frank King on course. Johnson’s record is very deceiving, after a poor start to his career it has really picked up and he has gone 6-1 in his last 7 fights, showing he can go the distance by taking 4 wins by decision and finishing his opponents with submissions in the other two, which he’ll look to do to his opponent tonight. That man is a member of Team Honor – Oberyn Martell – who has had an up and down start to life in Honor FC, picking up only 2 wins out of 4 and one of which under very controversial circumstances with a majority decision. He prefers to stick to his feet and will be looking to not allow Johnson to take the fight to the mat, where Johnson is clearly the better BJJ player. Frank King is confident and you’ve got to hope “Kid Southern Lights” (Johnson) is too after his run of great form!

Undercard

"The Champagne of Beers" Miller HighLife (21-13-1) v Ashley Harrington (2-0-0)

If you’re going to put your money on anything when HighLife meets Harrington it should be that Saturday night we’ll whiteness a (T)KO finish of some kind, as these two men love to stand and bang. The fans will be hoping they lay it all on the line, leave it all in the cage and go on a full out war against one and other. I’m not brave enough to call a winner for this one but you’d have to suspect HighLife will play it smart with his experience edge, but Harrington comes in hot, young and fresh so this has all the makings of a unpredictable winner – even if the type of finish seems obvious to most.

Diego "The genetic jackhammer" Diaz (13-11-1) v "The All American" Jimmy Powers (8-7-0)

Neither of these two men got off to the great start that they were both expecting with losses respectively against DeAngelo Suggs and Jon Monroe. These two lightweight fighters will be looking to take a win that will serve as the beginning to change their careers around and start a successful stint at FV. These two are evenly matched and this fight has a potential to go the distance to a decision but “The Genetic Jackhammer” and “The All American” will be looking to dominate and control and this fight could end up anywhere!

"Sticky" Herb Green (7-5) v “Wizards” Gordon Matthews (7-6)

This is Green’s first weekly event for FV, as previously he’d only done the midweek shows, while Matthews has been with the organisation for a while, boating a 3-2 record since his arrival. This fight will be a tough one to call, as Matthews is a “Wizard” with his hands and will be looking to knock out the opposition early. Green will have a longer game plan and will be focused on getting the fight down to the mat and looking for the submission (where five of his seven wins have come from) and Matthews will be wise to use his superb wrestling ability to stop the fight from reaching the ground. It’s an entertaining fight to open the night, featuring two very contrasting fighters and it’ll be great to see who emerges victor.

We at CPA don’t normally like doing predications as part of a report as we normally prefer to stick to facts and avoid bias but under circumstances of cross promotion fights we’ll make an exception. I see it being a very close run thing between the organisations with it going into the last fight tied 1-1. Forbidden Violences best chance at victory must be considered as Abel Speed – the current 185lbs champions – but Parks and Jackson will look to impress, who knows what a win tonight could do for their respective careers here in Forbidden Violence! HGH Nutrients (Q160 - best in Tycoon!) will be sponsoring fight of the night awards as normal despite this being a cross promotional contest!

Forbidden Violence vs Honor FC 1

Event Link

Live at the MMA Grand Arena (capacity: 17,157) in Las Vegas, NV

Forbidden Violence faced Honor FC for the first time in a series of events in which the two organisations will compete to show whose boss. With three great fights for bragging rights taking place, there are still seven other fights feature your regular Forbidden Violence stars as they go head to head to progress their careers!

FV vs HFC – Main Event

*TEAM VIOLENCE* Lyoto Parks (16-5-0) v Roy "The Wardog" Pitbull (25-12-1) *TEAM HONOR*

This was it, the main event, the final fight of the evening between Team Violence and Team Honor. It didn’t matter what the score was or the results earlier on in the night, all that mattered to these two men was this fight and which one would walk home the winner, with true bragging rights. It really was one of the fights of the night, as these two warriors took the fight the distance through to the third round and final bell.

The first round was a signal for things to come, close thought contests with neither man establishing clear control after a good takedown from Parks. The secnd round was similar but fighters kept to standing and showed how well rounded they are, sharing punches and kicks on the feet during striking exchanges. The third was what it came down to and it was even closer contested then the first two with the same action which the first and second round had shared. Both men fully deserving of the victory but as neither could finish the other it came down to the three judges around the cage. The scoring was unanimous and indelicate between each judge, first round: Pitbull, second round: Pitbull, third round: Draw, by unanimous decision, the winner is…. Roy Pitbull of Team Honor. The disappointment was etched across the face of Parks who had been phenomenal and the respect between the two men was clear (along with the exhaustion) as “The Wardog” showed his soft side and thanks FV for their hospitality and said he hoped he could be a part of the next event.

Winner: Team Honor

Co-Main Event

Doug Graves (23-13) v "The Saviour" Philip Negan (11-9)

The highest bout on the card to feature two competitors both as Forbidden Violence fighters when Graves and Negan faced off in the co-main event. Graves came in from Synchronicity and was looking for his second win in FV, while Negan wanted to get his first win in FV after his first two fights went to the opposition. The first round was the close affair that everybody expected, with Graves getting a takedown and controlling the cage well but Negan landed a big blow that cut Graves open late on in the round.

The second round was a different story as Graves dominated the round until finally after cutting, rocking, knocking down and near decapitating – just like old yeller – Graves finally put Negan down for good with a huge right. It really was a well-deserved win for the former Syn man, who will be glad he took control of the fight while the men were on their feet after his lacklustre stand up in the first round. Graves is one to look out for and new champion Jamalski Ramirezovic will have been watching him closely as a potential title contender.

FV vs HFC – 2nd Fight

*TEAM HONOR* Kaito "Tsunami" Rin (20-7-0) v Abel “Amazin” Speed (24-8-1) *TEAM VIOLENCE*

In the eyes of most Abel “Amazin” Speed was the most likely source of a win coming into the the event but even he couldn’t deliver on Saturday night, as the “Tsunami” washed him away and Rin walked away victor after 3 rounds by unanimous decision. Speed put up a valiant effort taking the second round by utilizing his Muay-Thai skills while in the clinch but was unable to pull out the same level of performance and overall control in either the first of the third round. Rin won the fight 29:28 but the real overall winners were the fans, with the only downside to this fight being their champion has lost. Drug testing has been called upon though after the image of Forbidden Violence was damaged more tonight by Abel Speed’s post match comments than their losses to Honor FC when Speed was quoted in saying post-fight; “Shouldn't have got too stoned ….. Oh well maybe a rematch is in order?”. This really has called into question the credibility of Speed as champion and no doubt owner Frank King will be looking for answers from his champion to what occurred in the lead-up to this fight.

Winner: Team Honor

Main Card

Jase Robertson (22-10) v "The Lion Of Matema” Baraka Simengwa (12-10)

Robertson was on of Forbidden Violence’s hottest attractions leading into his title fight with Abel Speed but since then he has added another loss and was hoping not to make this his third straight. On the other side of the cage he’d be staring across at Baraka Simengwa, a man who’s only FV loss comes against Bunkley Lii (one of FV’s hottest properties at the moment). The fight was what you’d expect from these two warriors – a back and forth contest that inevitably went the full distance. It emerged that due to his ground domination Simengwa was the winner by unanimous decision (28:29, 28:30, 28:29). Although Robertson was the stronger of the two stood-up, the fight was on the floor for him too long to really make a statement and Simengwa controlled most the way through the 15 minutes of solid action.

Grigory "Iron Man" Gukepshev (10-2) v "The Mountain" Arnie McDougle (21-12)

Domination was quite simply the name of the game when “The Mountain” met the “Iron Man”, as Arnie McDougle knocked-out Gukepshev within on minute of the fight beginning. It’s hard to say whether if the fight had gone longer and Gukepshev had survived the initial onslaught if the fight would’ve evened out but based upon this display the answer is no. McDougle dominated from start to finish landing flurries of strikes against what appeared an equal opposition. I great KO finish came off a strong combination with 4 right hand punches in a row with the last leaving Guepshev on the mat staring at the lights. McDougle looked fantastic tonight and gave very little chance to his opposition, very deserving of the nickname “The Mountain” with this performance!

Samak “Zen” Tiyapairat (23-12) v Ange “Touchy” Fili (11-4)

The theme of the night seemed to be shocks and quick finishes and this fight followed on. “Touchy” Fili took his third Forbidden Violence – and again by TKO – when he finished Tiapairat in less than 30 seconds. As the fighters entered there was no indication to say that “Zen” was not in a “Zen” headspace but the early cut and the big blow to the head certainly wouldn’t have helped that. Post-fight Ange Fili seemed very emotional but also very thankful for the fan support and help from his new training team.

FV vs HFC – Fight 1

*TEAM VIOLENCE* "Kid Southern Lights" Rebel Johnson (16-17) v Oberyn Martell (13-7) *TEAM HONOR*

It’s was the first of three in a night Forbidden Violence owner Frank King will want to forget, it started the sweep as Martell beat Johnson by TKO. It was the battle of Submission vs Stand-up and stand-up definitely won after a very impressive round from Johnson who looked to finish early with several submission attempts but it was to no avail. The second round was completely different story as Martell dominated the submission artist and eventually a big knee signalled the beginning of the end by knocking down Johnson. Martell dived down on top and landed several strikes before the official had seen enough. You could see from the silence from the crowd it was going to be a tough night for the rest of the TEAM VIOLENCE members from here on out, Honor FC were not here to mess about.

Winner: Team Honor

Undercard

"The Champagne of Beers" Miller HighLife (21-13-1) v Ashley Harrington (2-0-0)

The veteran – 34 year old – Miller HighLife took on young upstart Ashley Harrington, as the 26-year-old looked to take his third straight win in FV and remain unbeaten in his career. Harrington did just that with 1 minute to spare of the third round as he took the victory by TKO when he landed with a left from the clinch followed by a shoulder strike to daze HighLife. The finish came in very similar fashion to that that the fans saw in the Green/Matthews fight that opened the show, as Harrington pummelled Highlife against the cage till the official stepped in to award the victory to Harrington. The most impressive thing about this win is that Harrington could’ve held on till the end and no risked anything as he had clearly won the first two rounds but he went out there with the intent to finish and he did just that!

Diego "The genetic jackhammer" Diaz (13-11-1) v "The All American" Jimmy Powers (8-7-0)

There isn’t much to write about Diaz vs Powers, not due to a lack of ability or entertainment, but due to the fact the fight lasted an incredible 13 seconds. In which, with the second punch of the night, Diaz sent Power to the mat busting him open in the process and waving him back to his feet. When back on the feet the fans didn’t think they would see a second round but they thought Powers may be able to hold Diaz off for a further 5 seconds in which a superb strong right to the jaw of Powers sent the “All American” to the mat for a second time. Needless to say he didn’t get up and “The Genetic Jackhammer” was awarded a KO win in one of the most dominating but short performances the FV cage has seen.

"Sticky" Herb Green (7-5) v “Wizards” Gordon Matthews (7-6)

The fight that opened the show did its job perfectly on Saturday night as Green vs Matthews as it was one of the most frantic and intense bouts of the night, with the only disappointment being the length it lasted. Matthews was clearly superior as he took the victory by TKO (strikes), after dominating Diaz from start to finish. “Wizards” pulled the fight into the clinch early and landed a few strong short strikes to cut open Green before rocking him and then knocking him down after he pushed out of the clinch with a huge right hook that put Green on dream-street. The official jumped in as Matthews moved in for the kill on a clear out-cold Herb Green who had no clue where he was despite getting back to one foot. Fantastic officiating by the Forbidden Violence referee!

FINAL SCORE: Team Violence 0 – 3 Team Honor (winners: Martell, Rin, Pitbull)

Of the Night Awards – Sponsored by: HGH Nutrients Q160

KO of the night: Doug Graves

Sub of the night: -

Fight of the night: Roy Pitbull vs Lyoto Parks

While the event was Forbidden Violence’s first Pay-Per-View and the company didn’t get off to the best of starts in terms of losing to Honor FC, but there were a lot of other positives. Firstly a few stand-out individual performances really caught the eye and gave the fans something to go home happy about, most impressively Lyoto Parks and Doug Graces but also the MMA Tycoon Governing Body awarded the event a rating of 325.97! With FV #22 coming up, Forbidden Violence will look to a couple of their top fighters and champions to step up even further and build the credibility of this great growing organisation.

Syn’302 – Review

Pound for Pound Patton is considered the number 7 best fighter in the world, in his own weight class you’re now wondering? He’s the number one in the world! His opposition on paper may not be quiet as formidable but Riggs was on a current four streak win run and on Saturday he was looking to make it five. The Champion may have gone in the favourite but “The Artist” is just that, a true technique artist in his striking and was no written off what so ever by the fans!

The fight was of true main event quality and both me proved why they were headlining a card with such formidable fighters filling it from top to bottom. It was 5 rounds of pure class from both me, exchanging strikes, holds and takedowns. At various points within the fight both men could’ve been made to tap by the other but it was not to be that day and they went the full distance. When 25 minutes isn’t enough to separate two top class athletes it hardly seems fair it comes down to the opinion of three people sat around the cage watching in but that’s how a winner had to be decided.

It was announced to the electric audience (and the two fighters) that after 25 minutes, 5 rounds, that – by Split Decision – their Champion of the Lightweight division was…… still Michael “Nuts of Wonder” Patton! Scoring of the three judge’s puts an exclamation point on just how close a contest this fight was, with 47:48, 48:47, and 48:47. This fight isn’t just one of the fights of the night; it was truly one of the fights of the year and is worth catching on the replay. We can only hope as fans we get to see a re-match of this great fight as these two men really went to war.

Welterweight Fight for the Belt

Yang Tao (30-10) vs Sergiy Sklyar (32-8-1) *Champion*

Coming into this one, Sergiy Skylar’s only loss had been a title fight against Buzz Cloltran at Syn’278 but he won the belt back a mere 2 fights later and currently boasts a 7-1 record during his time here at Synchronicity. His opponent Tao is on a current 3 fight win streak beating very formidable opposition during those fights in the forms of, Ben Stone, Motanna and Shawn Kronburger. This fight was always going to be a hard fought classic no matter the result but on Saturday night, these two truly delivered.

Just like the main event this one went the full distance and holds a very similar story. After three rounds this fight seemed like it was being edged by Skylar, the champion digging in and performing as expected but knowing he was losing on the score cards after three only inspired and motivated Tao. Tao pulled out one of the best round performances in the fourth round as he gave Skylar very little space and dominated the stand-up. Going into the last round it was all tied and just a matter of who could take it. Would Tao be walking away the new Welterweight champion or would Skylar make his record one win richer.

The final round was the closest of the lot, with both fighters giving their absolute all trying to put away the other or at least lead on the scorecards, trading shot after shot and really putting on a show for the Syn fans. As the bell rang, you could smell the anticipation in the air, as both men got ready to celebrate their name being called and all judges had agreed one their scoring, leaving the announcer to tell the world that their NEW Welterweight champion of the world was Yang Tao by Unanimous Decision (48:47)! Post-fight Tao was clearly emotions but made a heartfelt thankyou to all of his fans for their support.

Syn’299 Rematch

Apollo Jackson (17-3-1) vs Evgeniy Malkin (17-6-2)

The rematch the world had been waiting for, after their previous battle had gone the full 15-minutes allocated to the three round bout and at that point the judges couldn’t even separate them, the , was awarded as a draw. This was something neither man was content with and while the respect was clear, it was also obvious they wanted to go a few for rounds so they could have a decisive winner.

And the first round picked straight up where the last fight had left off, with both men equal to a point where the fans were chanting their names and nobody envied the jobs of the judges having to give an official scoring. And while the fight remained close, that was the last near unseperateable round these two men would contest, as Malkin began to take an edge in the second and controlled the third successfully despite Jackson fighting throughout till the end. Almost fittingly the winner of this – in effect – 6 round war, came down to the three men around cage side and they awarded Malkin with the Unanimous Decision victory. A clearly disappointed Jackson and a nearly speechless Malkin showed great respect post-fight for one another and it’d be hard not too after the war these two had engaged in over these two Pay-Per-Views. These three top fights on the card were worth the ticket price alone for the fans and all 6 men involved really did Synchronicity proud on Saturday night.

The Main Card

Dragon Slayer (20-7-1) vs Damon "Pretzel" Pierce (32-18)

Slayer vs Pierce saw something, that in no other fight, a total of 31 other rounds worth of fighting, we saw all night. A fight that not only saw a finish but didn’t get out of the first round! Slayer battered Pierce with some solid striking that saw him finish “Pretzel” in under three minutes, gaining a TKO victory when Slayer landed a big uppercut that left Pierce on his knee’s against the cage and needing the referee to jump in and stop the strikes from Slayer raining down. When the finish came the crowd went ballistic after having watched six other fights all go to a decision, the delight from seeing a fight finished was clear. When the announcement was made it was met by a standing ovation from the 90,000+ packing the collosuseum.

A J Hearts (28-9) vs Zoran Miloshevich (27-14)

A solid bout 3 round bout between 2 of Synchronicity’s more quiet fighters, who may not have gotten off to the best start in the respective careers but have both been great to watch in the cage. They did not disappoint as they used every minute of every round to try and sway the judges points in their favour but from the moment Hearts cut open the head of Miloshevich it looked like their could only really be one winner. A J Hearts performed superbly and just edged out each round in his favour after heavily controlling the first to take a deserved Unanimous Decision (30:27) victory. A lot of people will be hoping to see big things from a more confident – yet very respectful – AJ Hearts.

"God's Worker" Jonah Sumrall (18-6) vs Alfonso Lopez (16-5)

Not a fight that was likely to set the world on fire and it turned out exactly how most expected, a three round fight with little in the way of persuasion that one man would threaten to finish the other. The closest chance to a finish the fans saw was when Lopez (who controlled most the fight) got knocked down by a good headkick from Sumrall and “Gods Worker” tried to close on the finish but was denied by the resilience of Lopez. Lopez went on to win all three rounds – deservedly so in the eyes of most – by unanimous decision (27:30). Looks like God turned his back on his worker on this one.

Undercard

Sergei "El Fenómeno” Kharitonov (19-8-0) v J “Face” Breaker (48-29-1)

Complete domination is the only adjective applicable to Sergei Kharitonov’s performance against J Breaker – who was barely able to get into the fight. Kharitonov took a unanimous decision victory (30:26) over Breaker, as he controlled the fight and obliterated his seemingly burnt out opponent in the final round winning it 10:8 on every judges score card. With a fight like that, it does make you wonder just what "El Fenómeno” is capable of and how successful can he be here in Synchronicity.

Mr Bronze (25-15-0) v Kaoklai Khanomtom (30-11-3)

Evenly matched this fight definitely was, as these two fighters couldn’t be separated from 15 minutes of fighting in the same way they couldn’t be separated during the build up to the fight. The action was slow paced and slightly disappointing compared to other fights on the card but had moments that shone like any other. With 15 seconds left Khanomtom knew he was losing the fight and needed to do something about it, which resulted in him nearly putting Bronze out (after Bronze had controlled for 2 rounds straight) but Bronze held on to claim a unanimous decision (29:28) to take victory here in Colesssueum.

Makao Matsumoto (23-16-1) v “Captain” Tsubasa J Champ (19-8)

This fight may have ultimately gone on to be decided by decision after it reached the third round but J Champ will be wondering how he was not being announced winner after a mere 15 seconds, in which he cut, knocked down and seemingly had beat an extremely resilient Makao Matsumoto. Matsumoto would go on to control the rest of the fight after recovering himself from the early onslaught in the 1st-2nr round break and eventually take the victory by Unanimous Decision (29:28) but it was the “Captain” J Champ who will feel victory should’ve been his and will be disappointed with his performance following his early dominance.

Thor Berserk (20-10) v Charles “The Hammer” Martel (46-15-0)

The opening fight of the card saw the veteran Martel take his first win (by majority decision) since losing his title shot fight against Jake Lamotta in Featherweight division. Thor Berserk provided solid opposition and took it right down to the wire. Just how closely this fight was contested is shown in the judges’ score card as the judges all gave different scorings from 29:29, 28:29, 27:30, in favour of “The Hammer”. Such a vast scoring range from our judges raises the point again of the scoring system in place currently in MMA but that is a debate for another day.

Synchronicity delivered true value for money tonight with no less than 9 fights going the full distance to a decision, which made the KO of the night award (awarded by Reaper Combatwear) a simple decision in giving it to Slayer. The other fights – for the most part – more than delivered in terms of entertainment and quality of fight, in particular the main-events were real highlights and completely lived up to their billing. As an overall this show really went down well with fans, officials and fighters across the globe alike and was awarded a 997.40 rating from the MMA Tycoon governing body, along with selling over 325k of PPV buys. A fantastic night for not only Synchronicity, but also MMA Tycoon as Syn’302 really delivered as expected and possibly even more.

Syn' 303: Contenders – Preview

Live on PPV and at the LA Memorial Colossuseum (capacity: 93,607), LA, California

There may not be any title fights on this Synchronicity card but with the quality and calibre of fighters involved you don’t really need one as Synchronicity offers you 10 quality match-ups to get your mouth watering and Championship Press Association shall cover each one in this report sponsored by Championship Clothing.

Christian Nolan (23-19) vs Gigant "Big" Silva (22-13)

These two men may seem to be a rare bread after the last Syn Pay-Per-View (Syn’302) – in which 9 bouts went to a decision – as they both like to look for a finish no matter the opponent. Nolan has taken 19 finishes, only winning 6 fights by decision, while Silva is very similar and looks to finish his opponent on the ground or feet with 17 finishes, 12 (T)KO’s and 5 Submissions. In their last 8 fights combined, only once has a fight needed the judges’ scorecards and that speaks volumes at this level of competition about the mind set of these competitors.

The other thing these two men share in common is firstly an ambition to one day go on to challenge the Heavyweight champion – currently Brick Tires – but also that neither one can maintain a winning streak long enough to impress the match-makers and management of Synchronicity. While neither man has been in poor form, it’s just been a big case of win one lose one for both of these men and they will both be hoping to make a win Saturday night, against the other, part of something bigger. Silva goes into this one as a big underdog and will need all of his determination and heart to get through and make a name for himself, while Nolan will be looking to finish on his feet and out strike the grappler Silva.

"Gambler" Bad Idea (27-12-1) vs "mēpisukaryā" Itagaki Fukuzawa (17-4-0)

When you talk about two fighters who style and game plan going into most fights is polar opposite, you have to talk about what is likely to be of this match-up between the Georgian Idea and Japan’s Fukuzawa. “Gambler” is just that, a risk taker, who has seen 26 of his fights go to a decision, often fighting for a decision once a fight reaches the 3rd (or 5th during his glory days of being UPG champion). On the other hand you have Fukuzawa who looks to finish where possible, and finish he does in style. Taking 14 wins by (T)KO he is a real powerhouse and take his opponents head off, in his last fight, with Chauncy Silvestre, he finished the fight with a mere 15 seconds left on the clock to the uproar of the Synchronicity fans.

Itagaki Fukuzawa does not like leaving a fight in the hands of anybody but himself and that makes him very dangerous to any opponent, and possibly even more so to one like Bad Idea, who likes to control a fight. Idea has the advantage on the ground and may look to capitalize there and take control while holding his opponent but with Fukuzawa in the cage anything could happen if the fight is left standing. The fans are excited to see this one and if Fukuzawa can make it three straight undefeated since his arrival here in Syn!

Daniel "Ravishing" Roth (24-11-2) vs "Thor" Eiji Kawashima (31-8)

Making his second appearance follow his title fight on his debut in Syn is the “Ravishing” Roth, who will be looking to impress and make a name after a successful stint in – the now defuct – BFE (Brazilian Fight Entertainment). “Thor” on the other hand makes his debut tonight and will look to prove he should be in contention for freshly won title of Yang Tao. Whoever is gunning for the belt that takes a win off this fight may have to go through former champion Sergiy Skylar though as he’ll want to be next in line with a rematch for a belt he feels he should never have lost.

There aren’t many fighters more well-rounded out their than Eiji Kawashima but if anybody can stop this man that dominated UPGV at 170lbs, it is the arrogant yet so very charismatic and entertaining, Daniel Roth. Hopefully this fight will be as interesting and as entertaining as Roth’s entrances to the cage but that remains to be seen. One thing to mention is that Roth is the only man out the two to take a submission victory and “Thor” has only ever lost by submission, so could that be the finish we’ll see Saturday night?

"MR. NAUGHTY BOY" Mickey McFinnigan (21-11) vs Charles "Grenade" Gunn (25-14-1)

Another cross Atlantic war between a Brit, Mickey McFinnigan, and a yank, Charles Gunn. Despite coming from very different places these men are incredibly similar, they’ll both be making their debut in Syn this Saturday, they both have fought at the top level in other top orgs already and both men love to put on a show, collecting 20 “Of The Night” awards between them (McFinnigan with 11, Gunn with 9). These men also love to finish and this is what the fans will be hoping to see Saturday night. One question is over the ground game of Gunn, who is renowned for not having a very strong BJJ training regime but with that being said, he’s never been forced to tap but that could be more down to the fact he’s almost never been taken down. If McFinnigan was able to take Gunn down though, could this spell a world of pain and a first submission loss for the “Grenade”? The fans will hope not as they want to see these two great KO artists slog it out and go to war, for national (and personal) pride.

Roderick "The Hammer" Jenkins (14-5) vs Jobe Nkemakolam (35-14)

Jamaican Roderick Jenkins will be looking to continue his successful start to life in Synchronicity with a win over a Syn veteran in Jobe Nkemakolam. Nkemaklam will be competing in his 11th fight for the company and respect from “The Hammer” will be clear for a man who needs no nickname but the respect better not play on the mind of Jenkins to long in the cage as Jobe will take full advantage if it does. Both of these guys are on notable win streaks (more because of the level of competition than the amount) with each man looking for their 4th and 3rd respective victory on Saturday night but that’ll be easier said than done and one of these impressive streaks will have to come to an end when they meet in the cage.

"The Justice" Mitch Heisenberg (35-13-1) vs Hamid Zaferani (27-17-2)

A bout featuring a cardio machine and an explosive animal is what the fans of Syn will be treated too on PPV when “The Justice” Mitch Heisenberg meets Hamid Zaferani at Syn’303. Heisenberg comes into this one off the back of a loss to one of the best in the world in Matt Miller in a title fight for the featherweight title and will be looking to show his name should be around the discussion for that title sometime soon again after his jump from EVO. Zaferani was Sergiy Skylar’s last opponent at 145lbs before he made the jump to 170lbs after Zaferani went the distance with Skylar but was just edged out. This fight is an interesting one as Zaferani holds the edge on his feet but Heisenberg will benefit from the fight going to the ground. The only thing to bear in mind is that “The Justice” has won 21 of 25 decisions his fights have gone to, while Zaferani tends to fade away and has lost more decisions than he has won. Will the cardio of “The Justice” play a factor, Zaferani will certainly look to not allow it too!

"Mjöllnir" Njord Freyr (25-11-0) vs "The Hulk" Autumn Hunter (24-9-1)

Njord Freyr is a former top 10 p4p fighter in the world who once went on a 10 fight win streak, unfortunately for Freyr those days seems to be behind him now but he still possess a real threat to Autumn Hunter. Hunter is not quite as reputable globally as his opponent but definitely brings a lot to the table as the Syn favourite will look to really bring his A game when he faces his Norwegian born opponent. It is expected this fight will end in a bang with both men loving to finish the fight by (T)KO, between them they have gathered a staggering 39 (T)KO wins, which will leave the fans begging to see this become the 40th as these two heavyweights face off and look to move forward in their aging careers.

Buddy "The Faustus" Guy (26-5) vs Mark Sutter (22-16)

Compared to the last Syn card (Syn’302) we here at Championship Press Association really fancy the chances of a few finishes in Saturday night’s fights and this one should be one of them. Only 13 fights that these two guys have had out of a combined total of 67 have made it to the judges score card. One thing we may potentially see from Mark Sutter that we don’t see to regularly is a submission finish as he holds such a strong advantage if the fight goes to the ground, it may not be his natural habitat BUT Guy works on keeping the fight standing, not getting it back there, so it may be his best opportunity to grab a win. The fans will want an exciting fight and that’s one thing I will happily predict we should see in this one.

"The Flash" Barry Allen (21-11) vs Keke "Hammer" Pummel (23-12)

Even at 30 years of age “The Flash” Barry Allen still believes he is not only a great MMA fighter but also the quickest MMA fighter on the planet. He’ll be hoping to finish Pummel in a “Flash” before Keke can build on his momentum from his previous fight – his debut against Indica Jatlier – where he controlled the fight and took a great win. Both these men come off the back of victories into this one, with Allen also coming in having taken strong victory against Holden James. This is an evenly matched fight where either man could take the spoils but Allen is debatably the more popular fight and may have the added factor in his corner of 90,000 shouting fans.

Rico "El Chupacabra" Dominguez (24-12-3) vs Chauncey "Nightcrow" Silvestre (31-17-1)

If any fight on this card is likely to go the full three rounds and still be entertaining, with a shot at fight of the night, it’s this one. It’s El Chupacabra vs Nightcrow in a clash of featherweight cardio-kings, with both men coming in off the back of losses making this a real make or break fight. Silvestre’s career could’ve been so different if he could’ve just beaten one man, the beast known as Matt Miller. If Silvestre had taken any one of three opportunities to beat Miller he could be one of the biggest stars in the company but now he’s on the back foot facing a man who has never had the opportunity that “Nightcrow” did but Dominguez will be looking to show he does in the future.

Synchronicity 303 – Contenders will look to bring you something different from the last Pay-Per-View from the company, as the 9 out of 10 fights that ended in decisions on the last card is highly unlikely to be repeated on this one, with a lot more aggressive guys on this card, who will look to finish on every opportunity. Reaper Combatwear will be sponsoring the event as always and will be providing all clothing and merchandise for the event as well as sponsoring the “Of The Night” awards for the evening which will be very hotly contested!

FV #22 – XXX – Preview

Live at the MMA Grand (Capacity 17,157) on Saturday 7th June

Forbidden Violence brings you two title matches and eight other top class match-ups this Saturday as it presents FV 22 – XXX live. Several of FV’s top contenders will be in action along with the two champions at Lightweight and Light Heavyweight as Johann Joensen and Jamalski Ramirezovic defend their respective titles against two hungry challengers.

Main Event

Lobsta "HIGH TILL I DIE" Mang (25-11-0) vs Arvydas Sabonis (24-11-0)

It is not often we here at Championship Press Association cover an event and feel that putting two debutants in the main event is fair or the right thing to do but in this case we 100% agree with the match-making and the decision of Frank King to make it the main event of FV #22. When two competitors – such as the ones featured in this bout – come into the company with this stature and reputation we fully support it and know the fans will be getting their full money’s worth.

Mang comes into the organisation as one of the most versatile fighters it has signed having picked up a total of 25 victories with 14 by (T)KO, 3 by Submission and the rest by Decision. He has competed in a variety of organisations but had his most successful run in Cage Wars Hilo during his first run with the company, where he picked up a huge total of 8 straight victories.

Arvydas Sabonis comes into Forbidden Violence as one of the biggest signings the company has made (along with the recent acquisition of the Ali Baba Mohammed) since its beginning and comes to FV after a sensational spell in GAMMA. During his time there, Sabonis picked up three straight victories against top opposition but left the company, after losing his well-earned title shot, due to the speculation around the GAMMA and its ownership. He’ll be looking to pick up where he left off before that title shot and dominate during his time with Forbidden Violence.

This fight should really truly be one for the ages as two of the hottest signings in Forbidden Violence face of in the debuts, with both trying to make a statement. A lot of fans feel Sabonis comes into this fight the favourite but is coming of the back of a loss in that GAMMA title shot, while Mang has some momentum following his victory over Miko Maia (a 2nd round TKO stoppage win). Not much of an edge in this one for either competitor and we should look for a finish but I wouldn’t want to be a punter placing a bet in this one, as it could go either way!

Light Heavyweight Title Match-up

*Champion* Jamalski Ramirezovic (23-21-0) vs Gegard Mousasi (29-6-1)

One of two title fights on the card – alongside the Lightweight title match-up between Joensen and Vinayagamoorthy – is the Light Heavyweight bout between Jamalski Ramirezovic and Gegard Mousasi for Ramirezovic and it will have all the fans talking leading into this one. If you’re looking for an edge one competitor has over the other it may possibly be in the ground game of Mousasi who is a Black belt in BJJ but the chances of getting the champion on his back are slim.

The Champion will be going in feeling confident in his takedown defence and defensive grappling to keep him safe when the fight is not on his favoured position. Ramirezovic will definitely want to keep the fight standing and let his fists do the talking as he looks for a – unlucky for some – 13th victory by (T)KO. The Forbidden Violence original has been here since FV #2, having won six and only ever lost once – a title fight to Jethro Savage.

Champion vs Challenger is all this fight needs to be billed as, as these two men need (and have fiven) few words before a fight publically, but you can guarantee these huge men will leave it all in the cage and go to war Saturday. I’m glad I’m not a betting man because I’d hate to have to call this one before it starts, it’s challenger Mousasi vs the champion, Jamalski Ramirezovic and it’s going to be a great one!

Main Card

Mirko "The Angel Of Death" McCracken (17-8) vs Vinícius "Pontão" Cavalcante (22-3)

Vinícius "Pontão" Cavalcante is a real force to deal with and showed just that in his debut for Forbidden Violence at FV Midweek #3 when he beat Jordan Johnson by unanimous decision. Mirko McCraken is the former Super Heavyweight champion of FV and will be looking to get back on his feet and straight back into the title picture after losing his belt to the reigning champion Nick Foles (Foles will defend his belt @ FV #23 against Ali Baba Mohammed).

This fight has the makings of a real classic as McCraken is clearly the better boxer between the two but “Pontao” will look to utilize his advantage on the ground over “The Angel of Death” and force a submission against this hugely supported and hyped former champions. If Cavalcante can get the fight to the ground you have to feel this bout will be over quickly but the Brazilian is no slouch on his feet even, with a strong Muay-Thai background. We look forward to this one here in the MMA Grand and the fans should blow the roof of the place when the former champion emerges into the isle way.

"Kamikaze" Yoshiro Gomi (19-18) vs "Quick Popper" Orville Redenbacher (36-13-1)

If you are looking for a fight featuring two men who love to finish but in very different styles, this fight is the one for you featuring the submission artist Yoshiro Gomi against the striking specialist Orville Redenbacher. 15 of “Kamikaze”’s wins have come from submission while an incredible 28 of “Quick Poppers” have been from TKO or KO which are incredible numbers. This one should be exciting for the fans, although many see it as Gomi either has to finish or run the risk of losing by decision (as he has done 13 times previously out of 16 decision s he’s gone too).

DeAngelo Suggs (9-3) vs Charles "The Hand Grenade" Handly (26-18)

The fans of Forbidden Violence love to see one of their younger hot prospects face off against a more experienced member of the roster and this will happen when rookie DeAngelo Suggs faces veteran Charles Handley. ”The Hand Grenade” will look to explode in the face of Suggs and destroy any plans the 25-year-old had of winning this fight and rightly Handly does go in the odds on favourite for this one but some people say there is no replacement for hunger, and hunger is just what Suggs is. Suggs will be looking to make it a streak of 5 successive victories while Handly will look to continue his recovery – after winning his FV debut – of the same number of losses in a row during the end of his Bushido career. The winner of this one will really put a lot of people not only in the lightweight division on notice, but also the entire organisation. In terms of skill and popularity this may not be the most anticipated fight of the night but it certainly has potential to be the fight of the night on Saturday.

Lightweight Title Fight

*Champion* "Stallion" Johann Joensen (37-26) vs Ring Vinayagamoorthy (5-6)

One of the biggest bouts at FV 22 is the fight between current Lightweight Champion Johann Joensen and Ring Vinayagamoorthy, as the Spanish “Stallion” looks to defend his new title against the former champion in a rematch from FV Midweek #4. That fight went right the way to the wire, going the full five round distance as Joensen edged out Vinayagamoorthy and took the win by Split Decision. Some fans feel that the decision should’ve been Unanimous in favour of Joensen but every Forbidden Violence fan agrees on one thing, and that’s that they want to see these two men go at it against – especially after their Fight of the Night performance last time.

Johann Joensen, after winning the title on May 28th, was ready to move on from this post fight asking who’s next at the end of his press conference but did have this to say of his opposition on Saturday;

“Thank you to all the fans for tonight and my opponent, I was better but kid, you earned my respect. I'll see you around some time!”

That time came sooner than expected for the new Lightweight Champion and it’ll be interesting to see how these two men fair off after their brutal fight a mere 10 days ago when they fight once more with so little rest.

When you look at these two fighters of paper Joensen seems clearly the favourite to defend his belt but Vinayagamoorthy – dubbed “Soul Captain” by his opponent Saturday night – will be looking to use some of that heart and soul to cause the upset. You have to feel his best chance of doing that will be on the ground, as the “Stallion” is one of the best on his feet not just at Lightweight but also on the entire Forbidden Violence roster. We look forward to another hard thought fight and we can only hope that Vinayagamoorthy has recovered from his injuries in such a short space of time before he faces the fresher – and relatively unscathed from their last battle – champion, Johann Joensen.

Under Card

Ford "The Alien" Prefect (18-14) vs Mark "Mean Streak" Tanner (16-14)

These two men both stepped up to the plate when owner Frank King needed a fight to replace one that had to be cancelled and after both men had only fought one week ago Saturday, it’ll be interesting to see how a lack of preparation and fitness will affect the two competitors. They both had very contrasting fortunes at FV #21 with Perfect suffering a loss against D. Garcia and Tanner taking an impressive victory against Penn Alliance. This time out will be interesting to see what they can muster so soon after hard fought fights that both reached the third round but they will both give it their best shot to put on a show and take the W.

"Cowboy" Jon Monroe (17-10-1) vs Marlon "The Predator" Worthy (25-17-0)

The “Cowboy” will be taking his first fight for Forbidden Violence away from the midweek events since his arrival when Jon Monroe takes on Marlon “The Predator” Worthy. Both me take this fight against the other off the back of losses but neither will be too concerned as they are both capable of pulling off wins in any situation. Monroe has been called into question several times though for not being able to pull it off when it really matters. The “Cowboy” has had 5 title fights in his career and not been able to take the win in a single one of them, while on the other side of the cage will be a man they named the “Predator” for his ability to hunt and finish his opponent, along with title belts. Worthy has referenced this difference in success to several fans so it is clear his confidence and moral is high, it’ll just be interesting to see how this plays out.

The Steel Penn Alliance (5-10) vs Cletus "The All American" White (15-16)

These two fighters’ careers mirror each other very closely, but not in the positive way you normally read of when an article hypes a fight. They both started their careers 4-2 and looking ahead with a bright future in front of them. Now they both come into this fight having lost 9 fights in the combined last 10 fights and each on a 4 & 5 losing streak respectively so this fight holds gigantic repercussions for the career or each fighter. A win for either man could really turn around their career and give them some light that they could go on to bring fights back under their control and gain some confidence – but that’ll be easier said than done! Personally I see White having the advantage but having only taken 1 win in his last 7 fights confidence is going to be rock bottom, it’s the same story for Penn Alliance as he has only snatched 1 victory in his last 9 fights so anything could happen in this one. I see it being a real dog fight and the man that lays it on the line and comes out fighting will take it and may set themselves back on course.

With two titles on the line the fans will have something to really look forward to and with several fan favourites being featured in high class bouts it gives them even more hope for a top card. Both HGH Nutrients (who provide the of the night awards) and Championship Clothingwill be providing the merchandise for the event with all Forbidden Violence clothing available at the online CC store and the nutrition that fuels the champions available at HGH – best nutrition supplements in Tycoon. We look forward to seeing you pack the MMA Grand Arena on Saturday night as these great competitors go to war!

Unleashed Chaos Fight League Press Release

Friday 6th June 2014

The Tokyo based organisation begins anew life with a fresh name, new ownership with new ideas (but the same fighters you loved so much to watch) and much much more!

Damien Washington has taken control of the organisation known as UCFL and placed fellow RISSA member, Dan “TheMould” Milner, as Vice-President of the company as he looks to turn the Tokyo organisation into a force to be reckoned with. The two have brought in some fresh ideas for the organisation and have confirmed to Championship Press Association that they will do whatever it takes and match the hard work of their fighters to bring this organisation to the top.

New talents have already signed since the announcement of the takeover, with names such as Sabin Figaro, Joulu "Perse" Pukki and Baas Baako having already signed on the dotted line for the company to join the likes of UCFL fan favourites Birigiz Ignatiev and Randy "The Rocker" Slader. Daniel Milner also said “Old members of the roster need not worry, as they will all be accommodated for as well, due to the loyalty showed during the last month or two while we were trying to make this all happen – we cannot be more grateful”.

Along with the new name, ownership and fighters the UCFL will bring you some exciting new concepts and promises the organisation it hasn’t previously witnessed. Firstly is the idea of rankings and title fights, which shall be decided after the first couple of week’s bouts. Rankings will be published on a fortnightly+ (14-21day) cycle so the fighters can keep an eye on who’s getting close to a title shot.

Along with those changes, one major and more impactful one is coming in too, and that is the reformatting of what was the “Super Heavyweight” division and turning that in an open-weight, 245k ID restricted division for the future of UCFL to develop their skills and compete against others of similar age. This division may be open weight but all match-ups will be based upon size as well as skill to keep the fights as even as possible.

Unleashed Chaos Fight League (formerly known as Evil Evolution) on the night of Thursday 5th June was sold to and taken over by new ownership at a pivotal moment in the organisations existence. With the organisation seemingly falling and concerns being expressed from its fighters publicly, an 11th hour bid from Damien “DW” Washington came in to flip the organisation on its head. 24 hours later, the org has been rebranded, cards and roster adjusted and beginning a new life with a lot of people excited. With both the experience and financial backing that Washington can bring, as well as the support that will undoubtable provided by his fellow RISSA members, it is clear to see why many now see a very bright future for the organisation now known as Unleashed Chaos Fight League.

FV #22 – XXX – Review

Live at the MMA Grand (Capacity 17,157) on Saturday 7th June

On a sunny evening in Las Vegas, Nevada, Forbidden Violence brought one of their strongest cards to the MMA Grand for the Forbidden faithful to watch go at it and try to prove themselves as the best. One title fight on a card is normally a treat but two is great and that’s what the fans got Saturday night, along with 8 other fights including an incredible main event.

Main Event

Lobsta "HIGH TILL I DIE" Mang (25-11-0) vs Arvydas Sabonis (24-11-0)

The main event of the evening featured two debutants who’s arrival in Forbidden Violence had been hyped so large the fans knew exactly what they were going to get. With a former GAMMA title challenger in Sabonis in the main even you know you’re going to be in for a treat and the fans were not left disappointed with this one, as it picked up the Fight of the Night award (sponsored by HGH Nutrients).

Sabonis truly didn’t disappoint fans expectations of him in this one as he dominated Mang for the majority of the 2 rounds this fight saw before Sabonis emerged winner by TKO. In the first round Sabonis pilled on pressure to Lobsta Mang and went on to cut him halfway through but the heart of Mong kept the fight alive. The second round was a similar story but Mang could do nothing to hold off the former-GAMMA fighter. Sabonis finished the fight in style – after cutting Mang open – with a big right hand, which sent the Mang down before Arvydas jumped down to finish him off and force the official to call a half to the bout. Post -fight Mang demanded a rematch and it’ll be interesting to see if this will be granted at any point in the future, but for now, I think you can safely say it’s Sabonis’ time to shine.

Light Heavyweight Title Match-up

*Champion* Jamalski Ramirezovic (23-21-0) vs Gegard Mousasi (29-6-1)

The second championship bout on the card was in the Light Heavyweight division (~205lbs) and was the main topic of talk from the fans coming into the arena on Saturday night with the Champion Jamalski Ramirezovic And after the event was over this bout was one of the main talking points of the fans on the way out as well and for all of the right reasons.

Many expected the champion to retain and control the fight but those thoughts were put to bed when in under 30 seconds Mousasi had cut open the head of the champ and was pressing hard causing damage. With blood still flowing from the cut, the champ made it to the interval but barely as Mousasi had controlled the whole first round. The second round continued in a similar vein and Mousasi continued to control the fight well both while stood up and on the ground. With just over a minute to go Mousasi scored a takedown and all he needed was 30 seconds to work the position, getting slightly loose and positioning for a triangle which the champ should’ve defended but didn’t. This cost him the title and gave the win to Mousasi in what was one of the sloppiest title losses I’ve seen in all of Forbidden Violence’s history to end a solid bout.

Main Card

Mirko "The Angel Of Death" McCracken (17-8) vs Vinícius "Pontão" Cavalcante (22-3)

Pure domination is only what Vinícius "Pontão" Cavalcante’s performance can be described as, when the Super Heavyweight beast ripped Mirko McCraken – a formidable opponent on most days in his own right – to shreds within the opening minute of the first round. McCracken was attacked from the offset and never had a chance of getting into the bout before being knocked-out by Cavalcante with one hell of a head kick that could put any man down no matter the size and was very deserving of KO of the night (which it was awarded).

Cavalcante controlled the fight landing kick and big kick to the so called “Angel of Death”. Off the bat Cavalcante had knocked McCracken down with a big head kick that also cut McCracken wide open. Seconds later it happened again, this time with a big uppercut from Cavalcante sending McCracken rocked and falling to the canvas. After waving him up a second time, Cavalcante finally put McCracken down with the same headkick that had knocked him down first time to take the victory. It was one minute of pure intensity and destruction and it puts "Pontão" on the map here for good in Forbidden Violence.

"Kamikaze" Yoshiro Gomi (19-18) vs "Quick Popper" Orville Redenbacher (36-13-1)

Gomi vs Redenbacher was a solid fight for the most part Saturday night that kept the fans engaged for its entirety but it really got going in the third round. After two rounds, which everybody in the arena knew the judges will have scored a round a piece for the two evenly match combatant, both corners knew they were coming into the third round with everything to fight for. And fight they did, while the first two rounds were of decent quality the last was a show stealer. Both “Kamikaze” and “Quick Popper” left it all on the line but it was “QuickPopper” that edged the decision when the final bell rang, taking the fight 29:28 on all three judges’ score cards. The fight was definely won in that last round as Redenbacher busted open Gomi before leaving him on his last legs with seconds to go with a strong left hand. Gomi will be gutted he couldn’t pull it off in the last round but it was a well-deserved victory for Orville Redenbacher and the fans let him know it post fight!

DeAngelo Suggs (9-3) vs Charles "The Hand Grenade" Handly (26-18)

DeAngelo Suggs took a strong win over Charles Handly on Saturday night by TKO in the second round in a fight that many fans saw the veteran Handly as favourite in. Suggs dominated the first round, with the exception of giving up a takedown but quickly worked his way back to feet and controlled. The second round saw a solid striking display from Suggs as he laid shot after shot on Handly and eventually got the breakthrough when Handly (seemingly dazed) in an act of desperation threw a wild shot at Suggs that Suggs countered with a huge uppercut. The uppercut send “The Hand Grenade” exploding to the mat as Suggs followed him down landing a good couple more shots before the referee could jump between and call a halt to the bout.

Lightweight Title Fight

*Champion* "Stallion" Johann Joensen (37-26) vs Ring Vinayagamoorthy (5-6)

After the last fight these two men had at FV Midweek #4, the fans expected another phenomenal, closely contested war and that is exactly what they got. This fight ended up even more controversial than the first with it resulting in a draw, although the draw was seemingly the right result (although chants of one more round broke out before the decision was announced), it wasn’t until the scoring of the fight was revealed that the controversy began.

Judge A scored the victory for the “Stalion” 48:47, Judge B went draw 48:48, while Judge C gave extremely questionable scoring of 46:49 in favour of the challenger. The reigning champion, Johann Joensen , was very quick to comment in his post-fight saying “I want to know what that third judge was smoking? Awarding a 46:49? King you need to get him checked under the drug testing policy as that crazy fool was clearly on something.” It’ll be interesting to see if the champions comments draw any response from Frank King in defence of his judges but one thing is for sure, as confirmed by the owner, Joensen vs Vinayagamoorthy will happen in the future, just it won’t be the champs next match-up.

Under Card

Ford "The Alien" Prefect (18-14) vs Mark "Mean Streak" Tanner (16-14)

A fight that saw the majority of the action on the ground may not have been the highlight of most fans nights but was a solid, technical bout none the less. It also featured combined 17 submission attempts from the two men, of which only two were in the second round and only one was needed to grab Mark Tanner the victory by Armbar (Submission). It was sloppy from “The Alien” following a failed submission attempt on Tanner of his own to allow Tanner to get the space to set it up but once that armbar was on the only way it was coming off was by Prefects tapping.

"Cowboy" Jon Monroe (17-10-1) vs Marlon "The Predator" Worthy (25-17-0)

Monroe vs Worth was a fight that had the fans interest for its entirety and deservedly so. These two men performed superbly on Saturday night and both men wanted to finish the other. The finish came when a blood soaked Monroe (from an earlier cut) took a good right hook to the temple leaving him dazed and Worthy wasted no time, showing his “Predator” instinct in following up and delivering several vicious strikes as Monroe fell to the ground. “The Predator” took the very impressive TKO win in his stride very humbly and spent more time thanking his fans than looking over the fight post-fight.

Wensink (5-4) vs Sonnen (19-15)

A last minute addition to the card didn’t disappoint in entertaining the fans as this fight was an exciting contest. Sonnen got the takedown (as most suspected he’d go for) and proceeded to punish Wensink on the ground. The victory finally came for Sonnen (by TKO strikes) when he landed a big left than that left Wensink without the ability to defend himself sensibly and Sonnen made him pay with 3 more big strikes before the official stepped in.

The Steel Penn Alliance (5-10) vs Cletus "The All American" White (15-16)

These two men just cannot buy a win at the moment and there was no separating Penn Alliance and Cletus White when they met this past Saturday. The fight went the full three round distance and resulted in a draw after the 15minutes were up as the two fighters put on a show for the Las Vegas crowd. The early parts of the fight may have started tentative but by the second and third round these two struggling athletes were going all out for the finish. Hopefully owner and match-maker Frank King will look to book these two for a grudge match to settle a winner. Who would’ve bet that this card would’ve produced two draws.

An impressive event once again from Forbidden Violence, scoring a 338 on the MMA Tycoon scoring system. This will definitely be helped by the main event and both of the title matches – particularly Joensen vs Ring in that spectacular draw. As always HGH Nutrients sponsored the “Of The Night” awards they were awarded to;

Fight of the Night: Arvydas Sabonis vs Lobsta Mang

Sub of the Night: Gegard Mousasi

KO of the Night: Vinícius Cavalcante

Presents….

The Sal Forlenzo Memorial

On Sunday the 15th of June live at Sparta’s Palace (7,000)

On a weekend filled with many high profile events now are more so than this one, Championship Press Association brings to you the event preview that is in remembrance for Sal Forlenzo. It has been said before and we’ll say it again on this third memorial event;

“Johnny Brickhead was the PLAYER, SAL was the MAN”

Main Event

Doug Graves (24-13) vs Phil Ivey (42-18)

Another former GAMMA title contender joins Forbidden Violence after the controversy around the formerly big organisation left him in need of a new home. Phil Ivey was one of the premier talents at the aforementioned organisation and will be looking to show why he was considered such a top dog, in his debut this Sunday. Ivey said to CPA he was honoured to be making his debut on such a card and wanted to get the win in memory for Sal.

He will have a big struggle on his hands though to achieve this as his opponent, former Syn competitor Doug Graves, has proven to be the real deal since joining FV racking up 2 wins in his last couple of fights and making waves in the light heavyweight division. Both men have been finding a lot of finishes lately and the fans will want to see more of it but they’ll also be hoping for their money’s worth and seeing a couple solid and well contested rounds before it comes.

Featherweight Title Fight

"The One" Daniel Dylan (27-17) vs Lyoto Parks (16-6)

This featherweight title fight is one of the most anticipated in the history of the featherweight division in Forbidden Violence as Daniel Dylan looks to defend his belt for the first time against the ever impressive Japanese national Lyoto Parks. Parks lost a closely contested fight against Honor FC top dog, Pitbull, last time out but had already been scheduled for this fight after his incredibly impressive debut at FV #18 against Sau Minneo.

Dylan won the belt last time out against Jameson in a fight he was very much the favourite to take but this fight will be a different story as Parks will be a tougher match-up and will be looking to stop “The One” from making his first defence and win his fifth consecutive fight. These two are competent on both feet and when down on the mat but Parks has demonstrated better skill in finishing from the ground. Dylan showed just how unpredictable his offence is with his last fight when he took the W after an impressive Superman Punch KO victory to take the title, so this one should have the fans on the edge of their seats looking for the finish.

Main Card

Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko (36-25-0) vs "Bad Bad" Leroy Brown (34-16-2)

To start his career Leroy Brown went on an insane run of 19 victories in his first 23 fights, unfortunately as the competition stepped up Browns career rounded off a bit and “Bad Bad” Leroy Brown became more, “Occasionally sensational, Occasionally Average” Leroy Brown. With that all being said, the Chicago native is still an exciting fighter to watch who can pull out the spectacular at any point – particularly when he’s on his feet.

Emelianenko is a bit more varied than his opponent and is a threat from both the stand up and the ground, with a lot of his victories coming from controlling he ground and getting the submission or controlling the fight for the decision. This fight could go anyway but Brown must be preparing to attempt to halt that world class BJJ of “The Last Emperor” with his solid wrestling, if not he could be in a world of trouble.

Ole "Big Iron" Solseng (13-7) vs Grigory "Iron Man" Gukepshev (10-3)

Two fighters who may not pick up much hype and prestige but are certainly favourites of the fans are the duo that faces of against one and other in this one here, when the American Solseng meets Gukepshev of Russia. This bout firmly deserves its place on the main card and both men will be looking for a solid win to impress the FV fans and Frank King, along with paying tribute on this emotional night. Only one decision victory in the history of each of these men’s careers so we should be in for an exciting finish and with a couple of Fight on the Night awards this year between them the fight as a whole shouldn’t disappoint.

Heavyweight Title Fight

"Polan" Titus Arellius (18-9) vs Oleg Karev (31-14)

The fight for the Heavyweight title is contested between two very evenly matched fighters who are both very similar in style. Both Arellius and Karev has historically looked for that smash mouth stand and bang style and this should make for a top bout on this very important card. Arellius is arguably one of the best under-30’s in the world of MMA Tycoon but Arellius has had a Journeyman career and looks to settle in Forbidden Violence now as champion.

His opponent Karev makes his third Forbidden Violence appearance and he will be wanting to make it three straight wins during his spell here. The fight is pretty even and the fans are expecting a brawl with a lot of the fight being fought on the fighters feet. Neither man really seemingly has an advantage on the ground so I find it unlikely they will want to take the fight their but it could happen. This is MMA and you never truly know what will happen in a fight until it has happened.

Undercard

Parvati Mellia (7-1) vs Marlon "The Predator" Worthy (26-17)

Bulgaria are represented on this FV card when Mellia makes his second FV appearance against the man they call “The Predator” Marlon Worthy. Worthy will be making his third appearance in third weeks, showing what a well-oiled machine he is and you must admire his ability to push off injuries. Worthy would normally come in red hot favourite but some fans have said the fatigue will have to show sooner or later and is he hurt after his last fight or not? That will be seen in this fight which will be a great introduction to the main card.

Sean Stone (22-13) vs Mirko "The Angel Of Death" McCracken (17-9)

I feel obliged to say with this one I see a stand up vs grappler scenario playing out here. McCracken is the KO king and loves to finish his opponents with one big hit, leaving them like a pile of crumpled rubble whiles Stone will look to have utilize his tough jaw and take the fight to the ground when he can. Although Stone can stand and bang the most sensible idea must be to look to bring McCracken down and work on him there.

Arnie "The Mountain" McDougle (22-12) vs "The Mad Monk" Grigori Rasputin (9-6)

McDougle vs Rasputin is the bout to watch on the under card and the two warriors will feel unlucky to be here considering their relative popularity and hype at present time but with a card as stacked as this you can understand why. The bigger of the two men is McDougle who is also the more versatile, with a stronger ground game that he may look to exploit against “The Mad Monk”. Rasputin will want to keep it standing but McDougle will be happy their too so this should be a good one!

Lester Green (20-13-1) vs "Redz" Romano Schoots (31-23)

40 decisions in one fighters career is not something many fighters can boast but Romano Schoots can do and to add to that can even add he’s won exactly half with 20 decision victories in his favour. Green is no slouch though as the former Syn competitor impressed as FV midweek #5 victory during the week. Fatigue is a question in this one again though as Schoots took a fight a mere 4 days ago, is he ready for another and can he go full pace.

Nycky Downtime (29-25-2) vs "Cowboy" Jon Monroe (17-11-1)

This bout is one I do not see going the distance as submission artist Nycky Downtime will face off the “Cowboy” Jon Monroe. Downtime may be prolific on the ground but his jaw has been compared to a substance not much stronger than glass, having been knocked out a total of 15 times in his career. Monroe will look to take advantage of that and put Downtime down for the count. Featherweight bouts are often under hyped but not this one, it may be the opener but the fans and management will not be overlooking this one!

Forbidden Violence will look to pay honour and tribute to the man the game knew as Johnny Brickhead, but his friends knew as Sal and these fighters will do a great job in doing so. At the same time as this these men will also be looking to impress owner Frank King to stake a claim for a title shot or win/retain their respective titles on this Saturday night.

A Review of Forbidden Violence’s….

The Sal Forlenzo Memorial

On Sunday the 15th of June live at Sparta’s Palace (7,000)

This event was for one man and one man only;

“Johnny Brickhead was the PLAYER, SAL was the MAN”

Main Event

Doug Graves (24-13) vs Phil Ivey (42-18)

A main event that truly living up to its billing with both fighters giving it their all is what the fans hoped for coming into this one, and it’s exactly what they got on Sunday evening, when Graves faced Ivey in the main event on The Sal Forlenzo Memorial show. It had picked up a lot of hype coming in and the fans fully expecting a finish at any point stopping the fight due to each of the fighters only reaching the final bell once each in their respective last 5 bouts.

The first round of the fight was one of the most closely contested of not just tonight’s card in Forbidden Violence but the whole of MMA across the weekend as the two fought and battled with Graves arguably edging the fight despite getting a huge cut opened up halfway through from a short left in the clinch. The fights finish came in the second when out of nowhere Ivey caught Graves flush with a shoulder strike that appeared to daze Graves before Ivey proceeded to land several strikes which then proceeded to Graves falling down defenceless needing the referee’s protection and causing the end of the fight. As Phil Ivey was announced winner by TKO (strikes) the two fighters were met with a huge ovation from the audience who appreciated such a whole hearted performance form both men.

Featherweight Title Fight

"The One" Daniel Dylan (27-17) vs Lyoto Parks (16-6)

The featherweight title bout featuring reigning Champion Daniel Dylan and fresh hot challenger Lyoto Parks was one of the most anticipated in the history of the featherweight division in Forbidden Violence and had a lot of fans wondering how/why it wasn’t the main event of the evening. Parks was coming in hot onto this one with his only loss being to “The Pitbull” from HFC during the cross promotional event.

Parks class shone through during the first two rounds dominating Dylan and leaving the champion on a knife edge, brushing off the champs multiple attempts at submissions on him in the first and at the end of the second Parks left Dylan dazed but the bell saved him before the official had to give him a hand. During the second round interval both corners were frantic with Dylan’s encouraging him to go out with the intention to finish and Parks not wanting to leave anything to chance and capitalize while the champ could still be rocked. Parks went out and continued how he started, controlling the stand-up forcing Dylan to take him to the mat, but Parks made him pay with a locked in armbar while Dylan was trying to transition which the champ could only escape from by tapping. That was it, FV have a new champion, the impressive Lyoto Parks and he’ll be looking to take on all newcomers in the same way he won the belt.

Main Card

Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko (36-25-0) vs "Bad Bad" Leroy Brown (34-16-2)

This was another entertaining fight and while it won’t go down as a technical clinic or as an all-out war, a fight like this certainly has its place on the card and in the sport. After a very closely contest first round, neither fighter looked like giving in soon and both wanted to go the distance but seconds into the second round Emelianenko cut Brown open with a solid shot but Brown weathered the storm. The end finally came with only one minute left in the second round as “The Last Emperor” finished the fight with a massive combo that left Brown out for the count, leaving Emeliankenko with the KO victory – which could very possibly be announced as KO of the night! Once again post fight Brown brought his future into question but the fans and fighters alike can only hope he returns for at least one more bout.

Ole "Big Iron" Solseng (13-7) vs Grigory "Iron Man" Gukepshev (10-3)

In the battle of the Iron men “Big Iron” faced “Iron Man” as another extremely surprising one sided affair occurred on this special night. The beat down that was put onGukepshev by Solseng lasted for just over half one round with the fight being finally stopped after 2minutes 32 seconds when the official had finally seen enough and stopped the bout. On his way to the TKO victory, Solseng knocked Gukepshev twice and allowed him to get up but on the third occasion he had done enough playing and followed “Iron Man” down to show even an iron jaw is susceptible to a beating occasionally.

Heavyweight Title Fight

"Polan" Titus Arellius (18-9) vs Oleg Karev (31-14)

When title fights come along fans instantly thing of the full blown brawls and championship round finishes but this title fight in the Heavyweight division was not one of them. It was more of a shock victory where the fight is finished in the early part of one of the first couple of rounds. Unfortunately for the champion he was dominated from start to finish, being knocked down twice, busted wide open and left dazed before Karev finally put “Polan” Titus Arellius down for good when Karev beat Arellius to a defenceless pulp before the official stepped in to end the bout and give Karev not only the victory but also the heavyweight title! Karev didn’t hold back post-fight ever, claiming he was the best damn thing in the organisation and he was going to take over and dominate.

Undercard

Parvati Mellia (7-1) vs Marlon "The Predator" Worthy (26-17)

The final fight of the undercard for the evening was the bout between Mellia and Worthy which hwent the distance to a decision as neither one of these two great competitors could put away the other within the 15minute time frame. The first round stole the victory for Worthy as “The Predator” was unlucky not to put away Mellia in the first and it wasn’t till the last round where Mellia really got an edge over Worthy but it was too late by them. To the surprise of very few before the fight and even less after it Marlon Worth was announced winner by unanimous decision (28:29) and post-fight Worthy had this to say; “I just want to thank all my loyal fans for their support, you guys have been amazing and I couldn’t keep doing this without you!”

Sean Stone (22-13) vs Mirko "The Angel Of Death" McCracken (17-9)

For the first time in weeks FV owner Frank King and sponsors HGH Nutrients have some serious head scratching when it comes to choosing the submission of the night at an event, as for the first time in what feels like forever there is a significant amount of choice to choose from. The candidate from this fight? That’s Sean Stone for perfectly executed arm-triangle against a fading Mirko McCracken in the second round of this bout, which gave Stone the victory. Stone will be proud of this victory and, despite it not being the most entertaining fighter, Stone controlled throughout and put himself in with a chance to win the “of the night” award for that submission.

Arnie "The Mountain" McDougle (22-12) vs "The Mad Monk" Grigori Rasputin (9-6)

The quickest finish of the night came in this one as Grigori Raspitun pounded McDougle down and took a very dominant victory by TKO within the first minute. The finish finally came in the action packed fight after McDougle had been busted open terribly by a huge head kick and a nice jab that left blood squirting from a cut just above the eyebrow. The final blow was a big right hook that left him for dead but Rasputin was taking no chances and dived down on top with hammer fists and elbows to make sure the victory was complete.

Lester Green (20-13-1) vs "Redz" Romano Schoots (31-23)

The last of three submission victories took place in this fight between Green and Schoots that finished when on his 5th submission attempt Green was able to lock in a triangle choke and force Schoots to tap to take the victory. A solid win for the American, as he looks to move up that card here in Forbidden Violence with victories such as that one.

Nycky Downtime (29-25-2) vs "Cowboy" Jon Monroe (17-11-1)

The card got kicked off by a true show stopping brawl in one of the fights of the night as Nycky Downtime and “Cowboy” Jon Monroe went to all out, no holds barred war! With little thought for their own safety these two men put on a real show with both men being on their last legs at one point or another in the fight. It ended in the same style the bout had been contested in when a bloodied Monroe was unable to defend a big straight right that sent him crumpling to the mat to give Downtime the victory, when watching the replay you can see Monroe was out before he even hit the canvas in one of the most brutal finishes in FV history. There’s a reason the organisation is called Forbidden Violence folks!

A lot of impressive fights occurred on this very special nights and each one was worthy of the man it was in remembrance of. A lot of fighters really made a name for themselves from the top of the card to the bottom with the likes of Nycky Downtime giving the fans something to remember and talk about on the way home. The main event and co-main event really did not disappoint at all and the only disappointment will be from the loser’s corner than they couldn’t steal the victory.

The Unleashed Chaos Fight League

Opening Weekend Preview!

Welcome to the pre-show preview of UCFL’s opening weekend where we here at Championship Press Association will cover both of the events coming out of The Underground, Tokyo on Friday (20th) and Saturday (21st) of June. The Openning Ceremony and UCFL #1: Total Domination have got the fans across the globe of MMA excited and we want to get their mouths watering even more for what’s to come over the two events.

UCFL Opening Ceremony

We’ll start where we should, at the beginning, with the UCFL opening ceremony. This card is jam packed with the faces the fans already know here in Tokyo from the time the organisation spent under another name. The card is headed by the young hot Randy “The Rocker” Slader (13-5-0) who will take on the fan favourite veteran Vitor "Anaconda" Gracie (32-17-2). This has a lot of fans excited as it’s not only a potential passing of the torch and the ending to the first night in the history of the UCFL but it’s also got the potential to be the fight of the night. This will be your typical stand-up striker vs technical submission artist, with the 42-year old Gracie taking an impressive 21 submission victories in his career and his opponent Slade preferring to knock some people’s heads off having won most of his fights by KO. It’s not very often I sit here and comfortably predict a main effect will have a finish but I’d happily predict a definitive one on Friday night in this one!

The co-main event of the evening will also be a closely contested affair when we see Ben Ladin faces Ilya Murometz for the second time in this Heavyweight clash. The last time these two met Ben Ladin suffered an early first round loss when he was knocked down and finished by a hungry Murometz but not very many people see that happening again with Ladin coming in off the back of a victory against Rostam Samani.

Another rematch on the card, showing fresh starts and new chances are available is the match-up between Yuya Inoue and Jaakko Jussila. Following their first match – a submission victory in clinical style for Yuya Inoue – Jaakko Jussila has been near inconsolable and walking round like a man who’s lost everything. The change in management in UCFL has given him the promise of a fresh chance and the opportunity to prove himself. Inoue was more than happy to partake in the rematch aswell as he has full confidence in his ability to repeat that and take one more submission victory. The real decider or this fight is if Jussila can keep it stood up, if so he remains in control and likely winner but the second Inoue gets it down to the mat (if he can) it’ll all be over!

Another fight which has my attention a contest that’s not even on the main card and to be completely honest, it’s more about the situation around the fight than the quality when these two bantamweight face off. Yi vs Park is unlikely to be the clinical display of some on the main card for the opening event in the history of UCFL but it certainly will be an emotional one as it will be Parks final fight before retirement. The grappler has apparently been suffering from some health issues but will be wanting to finish his career on a high note after promising the fans one last fight.

UCFL #1: Total Domination

There are plenty of other top fights on the opening nights card but we have a jam packed weekend of action from Unleashed Chaos Fight League to cover and we’ll now turn our attention to the other event of the evening, the companies first official fight card following the opening night, UCFL #1: Total Domination! A fight card that will feature 10 more top bouts and has been near set in stone since Thursday 12th June and the fans with be excited about this one.

UCFL Opening Weekend Review Show (Part One)

A strong panel featuring Championship Press Associations Rachel Barker, UCFL Vice-President Dan Milner and Calvin Hobbs of J-Sport discuss both UCFL’s Openning Ceremony and their first event, Total Domination, on tonight’s review show. Part one see’s the three discuss UCFL’s Opening Ceremony.

UCFL Opening Ceremony

Thoughts on the opening fight of the new beginning for the organisation between Luke Milner and Nemo Nautilus?

Rachel Barker: I thought it was a very convincing performance from Milner on Friday evening and it was a great start to the show, nearly deserving of submission of the night with his finish as well. His technique was spot on for the submission when he locked in that arm-triangle to take the victory but what really impressed me was how aggressive he was while not sacrificing any of the technique. He didn’t mess about and that showed whether you just see the result or the actual fight as he decisively took the submission victory after only 30 seconds.

Hayes and Park both took victories in their final fights from UCFL against Coiro and Yi, are you sad to see them leave and wind their careers up so young?

Calvin Hobbs: I think it was the perfect way for all four of those men to finish up their career, unfortunately Coiro and Yi both leave with losses but Hayes and Park left to respectful applause from the fans, and at the level these men were at you have to understand just why they left. Your health and life opportunities sometimes have to come before your fighting, none of these guys were ever going to set the world on fire but they all played their part during their careers.

Dan Milner: Yeah of course, I never like to see fighters leave the organisation, let alone leave the fight game all together but it’s a decision I respect from all four.

Silva vs Gracie was the only fight to make it to a decision but some fans are saying that’s more down to the fighters holding back than a stalemate, is that something you agree with?

Dan Milner: I think any fans that are thinking that are delusional and/or simply stupid, bloody hungry cave animals. I will agree it wasn’t the most entertaining fight for those who do not enjoy a technical display but neither fighter really held back. I feel after the first round Silva simply outclassed Gracie and controlled so well but Gracie did defend well and never gave in once so hats off their. I think Silva has real potential here in Unleashed Chaos Fight League, he just needs to fulfil it over time and with victories like tonights, and he will do.

Shinji Tanaka not only took a submission victory over Andrey but he also took Sub of the Night, do you think this rightly edged out Luke Milner’s Submission earlier on in the night?

Rachel Barker: Yes and no, on the submission itself, I feel it’s a matter of preference, both fighters got their respective holds in deep and Nemo may have not defended Milner’s well but it was a good hold from Milner none the less. What really gave Tanaka the edge for me on the winning of the award was the situation he won it in. Tanaka got battered for 13 minutes straight, he’s clearly loosing on the cards and Andrey is looking for the decision victory but he turns it up a gear, empties the gas tank and gets the Guillotine. If Andrey had have escaped that Tanaka would’ve lost the fight, it would’ve been all over but he held it and got that W. It was a great comeback and I don’t even think his corner saw it coming or believed it was going to happen until it did.

Chaos Clothing – Great clothing and fast, reliable laundry for all!

Vymiatajec got beat tonight by one of the most controversial finished, a submission TK,O when Andrei Chikatilo took victory Saturday night

Rachel Barker: I know Calvin is quiet opinionated on this so I’ll let him get his say in just a second but first I’ve got to say, what a popular fight Andrei Chikatilo is becoming, the fans love this man! Dan you guys at UCFL do not give this guy enough hype before his fights, the fans went crazy for him after this win!

Dan Milner: *laughs* Well yeah, he was coming in of the back of two losses but this is a man that it looks like the takeover and break/transition period enforced by it really suited him. It was an impressive victory and the fans do enjoy watching a 28 year old who has 30+ fights under his belt.

Calvin Hobbs: I completely agree, it’s a great victory, nothing should be taken away from him but I want to know how the hell this is classified as a TKO victory if the opposition has tapped, verbally or physically, the man tapped! It’s a submission win! And how can you, if you’re not going to call it a submission in the first place, have the audacity to call it a Submission TKO victory… it’s ridiculous but I’ll try not let my rant take away from the decisiveness of Chikatilo’s victory, it was a great performance by the man and hopefully he’ll follow on with more.

Less controversially Berkowitz knocked Kane out cold in the middle of the cage…

Dan Milner: Yeah, simply put he truly finished him, a fight does not end any more decisively than this one did as Berkowitz really put physical beating on Kane and then finished him with a phenominal straight right that nearly took Kane’s head off, if that’s not knock-out power what is?

Calvin Hobbs: I agree with Dan, true knockout power on display from Berkowitz and to be honest, it’s been too long since we last saw it, we’ve seen some knockdowns from him, but it isn’t since early on in his career have we seen him lay somebody out like that and I loved every millisecond of it! Give me some more of that to talk!

Submission beat stand-up when Yaya Inoue took a dominant victory over Jaakko Jussila but was it the way you expected?

Calvin Hobbs: Not a chance! Nobody put money on that, if Inoue was taking the victory then everybody had him doing it by submission and possibly a decision, at a push, but with these guys records of 19 submission victories and 17 T/KO victories respectively, nobody had a decision as a real plausible situation. It’s great to see a fighter give himself some variety later on in their career.

Rachel Barker: Dan I’m looking and see two straight for Inoue, although both are over Jussila, does that push him up for a title shot, there aren’t many fighters more popular than him. Sorry Dan but you knew this question was coming at some point *laughs*

Dan Milner: haha, possible, very possible, but I as I’ve always said, in my eyes it doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past, so other org records don’t interest me for now but what have you done for me lately is the big question. And Inoue has done his fair share, so he’s always in with a shout.

RISSA Alliance, Re-inventing the Engine

The co-main event saw Ilya Murometz and Ladin not even make the two minute fight as Murometz took a TKO victory after 1:32.

Dan Milner: Well to be honest I was hoping, in an ideal world, it would’ve gone further and lasted a bit longer but it really was a fantastic fight, a great advertisement for the organisation and the passion the fighters have not only for us but also their fighting. Ladin was unlucky because he got an early advantage and did some damage but at the end of the day Ilya took the victory through heart and it was deserved.

Rachel Barker: I agree, it was real heart from Murometz to stop the bleeding, quite literally, and take control to grab the win.

Calvin Hobbs: It was a bit all on the line for my liking, I don’t know what the game plan was coming in for both men but it seemed to get chucked out the window fairly quickly. Both men left it all on the line, that’s fantastic, but fighting the way both men did in that aggressive manner leaves a lot of opportunity for a quick finish and for an injury. We know we saw a quick finish but another question is did that fight leave either man injured coming out?

Rachel Barker: But Calvin, wouldn’t you rather see two men go out there and lay in on the line. Every fighter knows they are going to get hurt and these two put that aside to try impress and progress their career.

Calvin Hobbs: Maybe so but when two fighters go like that, maybe it excited the fans but Dan, as a fan of fighting you enjoy watching the fight but does it impress you. Doesn’t that make you think “oh if either of those men go on to face somebody who can whether that storm, they will get battered in the long run” because it’s impossible to keep that kind of aggression without gassing yourself.

Daniel Milner: I see where you are coming from and my argument to that is game planning and sticking to it, how do we know to go out there and swing for the fences wasn’t both men’s game plan? We don’t know what they truly planned to do in the cage but we saw what ended up unfolding in there and that gave the fans some entertainment and was well worth the co-main event slot in my opinion. If the fans and fighters are happy then I am too and while Ladin would’ve preferred the win I know he was happy with the match-up and it turns out the fans ended up loving it too, so that’s what’s really important.

The main-event of the night saw Randy “TheRocker” Slader win by TKO against a valiant but unuseful Vitor Gracie, what do you guys think was the difference and opinions on the fight itself?

Calvin Hobbs: It wasn’t the great fight we’d been hoping for in the build-up and I don’t think either fighter did too much to convince DW or Dan that they deserved a shot at the gold after this but Slader did enough to take the victory. The finish itself was of top quality, Slader’s timing was phenomenal to counter with that great uppercut and you really can’t ask for much more from your fighter when it comes to protecting yourself as the opposition begins, or in this case attempts to begin, a final frenzied attack in the round.

Dan Milner: I didn’t think it was a poor fight by any stretch of the imagination and I think MMA Tycoon has rated the fight fairly harshly but then again, that may be down to how dominant “The Rocker” was during this one and with the result never appearing to be in doubt. I must say, Slader would’ve had KO of the night if it wasn’t for the great one punch by Berkowitz earlier in the night.

Rachel Barker: I’ll tell you what made the difference for me, and it isn’t even during the fight, it was in the build-up. I think having your training camp and strategy arranged and planned by Bawon Samedi whose record of fighters he’s pushed onto new heights is endless. Is Slader in the same league as Dweedle Dee, of course not but he’s certainly on the way to being a major competitor in Unleashed Chaos.

Daniel Milner: I know he’s a fighter in my organisation but I disagree with that sorry to say Rachel, I think Slader may not YET be at the level of somebody like Dee but he sure could be one day. Look how good Slader is now and look at his age. 26 year years of age and he has opportunity to go on and truly be a force to be reckoned with. He is obviously a real contender here in Unleashed Chaos Fight League but I think he’s a force in the whole of the 170lbs division across the globe, people will not only travel to see this guy but also to fight him in the future.

Calvin Hobbs: Dan may appear slightly biased but he is right, the only thing that I have on the back of my mind is, is can UCFL keep hold of a talent like Slader, you’ve got to keep feeding him Dan, will the organisation grow as quick as the likes of Slader. That’s the real question.

Dan Milner: I have to say yes, for obvious reasons *laughs* but on a serious note, I see no reason why not, the likes of Slader can carry us forward and we can build our brand and division around the likes of him. This is just one fight, so don’t think I’m getting carried away but there are other like him who know how to get the job done and the fans enjoy watching him do it. Tonight may not have been a great war we are used to seeing, but the next fight could well be, either way he’s a threat to his opponent and he always has a chance of winning, well, more than a chance.

And finally guys do you have any last thought on the opening night of Unleashed Chaos Fight League….

Rachel Barker: Not particularly really, it was a solid event, I feel it could’ve been better but as the first it did its job, it got UCFL off to a good, solid start with Damien Washington at the helm and gave them a strong starting point which is what the organisation needed.

Calvin Hobbs: Agree very much with Rachel and will let Dan have the last say but I enjoyed the show quiet a lot, minus the whole TKO/Submission rubbish *laughs* but that’s across the whole of MMA! I must say a good start Dan, full capacity with 1,000 people packing the Underground in Tokyo, keep up the great work guys!

Dan Milner: Thanks for having me on the show and thanks for all the support, I’m a very ambitious guy and I’ll always look to improve the organisation as well as my skills in helping run it. I can’t wait till next weekend when we have UCFL #2: Bad Intentions coming from Tokyo live again, so stay tuned for more their!

UCFL Opening Weekend Review Show (Part Two)

Thank you for joining us after the break as we got back to the expert panel or CPA’s Rachel Barker, UCFL Vice-President Dan Milner and Calvin Hobbs of J-Sport discussing both UCFL’s Openning Ceremony and their first event, Total Domination, on tonight’s review show. In the second half of the show the three will discuss UCFL #1: Total Domination.

UCFL #1: Total Domination

Michael Bisping starts the second show the same way Luke Milner did the first with an Armbar submission victory over Tyler Miller

Rachel Barker: Michael Bisping promised it and the man really delivered, pre-fight he said it would be a victory and the fans would have the pleasure of watching and we did. I can’t really say much else outside of that. Miller got the takedown and should’ve been in control but was sloppy on the ground, either that or Bisping is just that good off his back to make Tyler look poor tonight. Either way it was a job well done by Bisping and not much else should be said, he deserved the of the night award for how fluid the move into the armbar was.

Anderson Silva remains unbeaten in his career with a Kimura Submission victory against Gio Avila, with only 5 seconds left in round 2!

Calvin Hobbs: 5 seconds…. 5 damn seconds and he couldn’t hold off Silva or withstand the pressure Silva was applying once he got it locked in. Personally I call that a lack of heart, take nothing away from Silva, he took advantage and locked it in well but Gio should really be ashamed of that performance. We’d been hearing in the build-up how successful training was and just how good he’d looked in camp but it’s all wasted if you don’t show some heart and fire in the cage on the night.

Evander put down Nomak early in the second with some solid strikes that left the official with no choice but to stop the fight

Dan Milner: I know I was meant to talk on this fight but it seems Calvin is hot tonight and probably best to let him get his opinions out as I can see him litrally biting his tounge out the corner of my eye.

Calvin Hobbs: *laughs* It’s not quiet that bad but I do have one thing to say, Gio Avila I hope you were watching this fight because even though Paul Nomak went down this kid showed heart! He was left on wobbly legs, getting pounded towards the end of the first and he may have gone purely on the defensive but Nomak showed some real fight and desire, he showed heart Gio! Learn from it!

Dan Milner: Think I’d better step in before Calvin’s blood pressure explodes through the roof *laughs* I don’t have much to add but I think Nomak did show some courage but Evander was pure class tonight, toward the end of that fight he was untouchable, his confidence was flowing and he looked great. I’m also going to stick up for Gio here because I don’t feel his performance was bad at all and how many people could last 10 seconds in a full locked on Kimura, I don’t know many! He held for 5 but god knows what damage would’ve been done if he hadn’t have tapped, he’d most likely not been able to continue anyway and we’d have likely seen a doctors stoppage between rounds if he’d had his arm broke

Was the scoring correct for Wanatabe vs Joaquin as Wanatabe left victorious by Majority Decision?

Rachel Barker: I feel for the judges as much as I feel for the fans watching, while there was a lot of technical ability on show in terms of positions and defence there was not a lot of offense to score from either man. I can’t truthfully say I enjoyed the fight much myself but I will say I feel the right fighter had their hand raised at the end. I’m not a fan of decisions due to the nature of scoring in MMA but I think we can all agree Wanatabe was the rightful winner but it’s not a fight I want to see happen again anytime soon.

In the Welterweight division BeeJay Penn took a quick but dominant victory over Yeerum by TKO showing the 39-year-old still doesn’t miss a beat, will BeeJay slow down soon?

Calvin Hobbs: oh it’s inevitable that it’ll happen at some point but it appears with that performance the answer is not just yet. Penn was solid and controlled the short fight from start to finish taking the re-match in even quicker time than he took the first. Penn must be in good standing with new management after such an impressive display, he really kicked the main card off well.

Rachel Barker: Yeah there really isn’t much to say on this one, BeeJay hit that slam with real power and left Yeerum out with that alone, some may have awarded that as KO because Yeerums eyes were in the back of his head. My only gripe with the fight is BeeJay didn’t get KO of the night but I can see why it was awarded to Saber – I’m guessing we’ll get to that soon though!

Chaos Clothing - All your clothing needs and reliable quick laundry (@82.5-87.5% return)

Killian and Apollyon went the full 15 minute decision in an entertaining fight that was dominated by Apollyon, will Killian be disappointed to have not won a round on any of the judges’ score cards?

Dan Milner: I really hope he is disappointed, if he isn’t then I’m not sure I want him here in Unleashed Chaos because I want fighter who if they by decision, then they are disappointed they haven’t finished their opponent. This is a cage where chaos should take place, not complete control and I know Killian will be looking to come back and bring a bit more next time. We haven’t got a fight lined up for him just yet but I’m sure we can find him a tough opposition. On the other side of things I think Apollyon was disappointed not to get the finish because at times he had Killian on the edge and was unlucky not to.

Calvin Hobbs: I’m going to echo Dan here, Apollyon did more than his part and put on a great show and – I know I’ve banged on about this all show but – Killian showed tons of heart to stay in the fight, just no umph to get the victory.

In Souto vs Saber we saw stand-up vs grappler, did it go the way you expected?

Rachel Barker: Very simply we saw a fight of two rounds there, the first dominated by Souto on the ground with a couple of great takedowns but something must’ve been said to Saber at the break in the corner that really got him fired because his defence was great in the second round and that set up his offence which was clinical in the end.

Calvin Hobbs: Exactly what Rachel said, the first round was solid from Souto with his ground work, the second round was fantastic by Saber and that showed in that he was able to get the finish.

Dan Milner: From a promoter and booker’s point of view I really need to see more from both men, I have to ask did Saber look great because Souto had gassed himself and not worked his cardio well enough going into the fight or was Saber that good? A few question I will have to wait till the next fight to find out.

Blaylock beats Hetfield by TKO in the first round to take his first victory for UCFL

Dan Milner: Baylock delivered, short and simple, he came with a plan and he followed it to the T. Every blow was intended to hurt Hetfield, he didn’t want to set it up, he just wanted to deliver and when you have that power and accuracy combined, it’s hard to stop.

Calvin Hobbs: Hetfield was solid, no doubt in that but what could he do today against a near perfect Dirk Blaylock. The man was calculating animal. Every strike, near perfect, very little energy was wasted and every shot had power behind it.

Rachel Barker: I think Blaylock showed tonight that he should be taken really seriously. He has great potential to become the face of the heavyweight division. He carries himself well, he puts on great performances inside the cage, he is modest and hard-working, outside of his shameless sponsorship plug he was really my cup of tea last Saturday night!

Calvin Hobbs: Can’t blame a man for making a couple extra dollars can we though Rachel,

Dan Milner: Well it’s not like he just randomly named dropped a company was it, he was saying his shout outs and of course the sponsors are there. He didn’t just go “Go to CHAOS Clothing for all your clothing as well as reliable laundry” did he?

Calvin Hobbs: Well that wasn’t predictable was it Dan….. *laughs*

For all UCFL review and more!

Moving on to the co-main event, A one sided blood fest saw Beefheart beat Kasim Akande to a pulp, did anybody see this coming and how does this happen at such a high level of competition?

Rachel Barker: I thought Beefheart had a definite edge going into the fight and I did think he would come away winner but not in the brutal and dominant fashion he pulled off Saturday. It was one of the most one sided battles I’ve ever watched, let alone covered in my life. The cut that appeared was horrendous and could possibly not have been as bad as it appeared but it was gushing at the point he went down.

Calvin Hobbs: Now Rachel’s brought it up, did anybody notice that after the fight Akande complaining to the official about the stoppage, claiming he was OK to continue? I couldn’t believe was I was seeing. I know some refs who are saying the fight should’ve possibly been stopped due to the cut, let alone the knockdown.

Rachel Barker: Yes I did and I thought it was totally out of place, how could he have expected the official to let him continue their, but it’s the adrenaline that’s talking in that situation really. You know a stoppage is a good one when the corner puts up no protest.

Dan Milner: The stoppage was the right decision, no doubt and I’m grateful to the Tokyo Athletic Commission for providing us with such fantastic officials because there wasn’t a single poor call all weekend, I’ve just jinxed myself for the following week I know but hats off to the officials for their jobs this past weekend.

In terms of the match-up and how it turned out, I never saw this coming at all, I did think Akande was slightly out-matched but the Nigerian wanted to go and said he had what it takes so I gave it to him. As for what could’ve caused this turn out, it could’ve been anything, everybody has a poor performance, it’s just MMA is such a cut-throat sport that a bad day can result in looking like this. I wish Akande a serious recovery, I’ve heard the cut is going to take a significant amount of time to heal, approximately 15 days or so but I have heard no word – for better or worse – on if he has sustained any injuries other than that cut.

A True Fight of the Night broke out in the main-event when Pukki and Omega Weapon went to a close decision that was taken by Omega Weapon on all three judges’ score cards

Dan Milner: I just want to state before we really get into this, that this is truly fight of the night, it is the bench mark and when you’re putting a card together this is what you hope every fight provides in terms of entertainment value. A great performance from both men and I’d like to thank them both personally for the show they put on.

Rachel Barker: And a show is exactly what they put on, neither man held back and they both pushed the other to the limit. It was great to watch and fights like this is what began my interest in fighting in the first place! Pukki deserves great praise for his part in the fight but Omega Weapon was on top for today and controlled when he needed too.

Calvin Hobbs: What was a signal for me was the cut early on, you make your opponent bleed early on it lets everybody – including your opponent – know you are dangerous and capable of causing damage. The fight had it all though, the ground game was solid and in my opinion Pukki actually slightly edged that but Omega Weapon really was superior in the striking department and as Pukki’s face showed, Weapon did a lot of damage.

Rachel Barker: I find this situation odd because normally there should be a lot to talk about a main event that won Fight of the Night but when you break it down and analyse it their isn’t too much to discuss. Both fighters were happy to go anywhere in the cage on their back, feet or against the cage. Omega Weapon deserved the victory and both men definitely deserved the $5000 prize money for the Fight of the Night award.

Thank you for joining us tonight and I’d like to say a massive thank you to our three guests tonight for joining myself here on the UCFL review show. We hope to see you next week following UCFL #2: Bad Intentions and at the event itself live!
