Weekend Preview

So folks, we're out for a full weekend of fights, with 2 titles on the line, before we look into it, let me put you up to date on happenings, with Torcida slowly fading and The Island coming to an end , the week was full of new signings, let's welcome all those new managers.

Plus we now have a new Event Partner, Combat Wombat will not only do Laundry and sell Shirts and Shorts, but also help us sponsor fighters and gain Sales during Events, look for Sydneys newest fight gear.

Plus for Fridays card Finite Betting is offering odds, so let's gamble your way.

Now take a look at the title fights:

Saturday:

155 title Jorginho Marcelo v Bernardo De Barros

The 155 title is the hot potatoe of SFC, it seems tough to be holding on to it for too long, Jorghino Marcelo will try to change that, as he appears in his first title defense against Bernardo de Barros.

Marcelo won the belt in a submission specialist duell vs. Xavier Merlin, Merlin himself only held the belt for 1 fight. So now the brown belt Marcelo will face Black Belt de Barros in his first defense. De Barros (8-2) has 4 wins in a row, all by submission. Marcelo is on a 6 fight win streak all by Submission, in common opponents they have John MaGee, who they both submitted in round 1, so guys, if this fight is not ending in a submission, I'll retire as a writer :-)

Sunday:

185 title Joey Hatton v Wayne Benning

Whenever there is a rematch the question is, is the winner of fight 1 the clearly better fighter, or does the looser find a strategy, that allows him to elapse his deficits. Here Joey Hatton beat Benning by a first Round submission, so can Benning keep it standing this time? Hatton makes title defense No.1 and is 4-1 at SyFi and 13-3 overall, his only SyFi loss came to previous Champ Asznee. Benning, who won the belt from Asznee failed to defend it in his first title defense. Benning is a clean cut stand up fighter, that won all his fights by (T)KO. He will try to explode with his power punches, and end it, before Hatton can drag him to the ground, will he suceed and recapture the belt?

Friday:

So, now on to the rest of the Cards, Friday serves us plenty of Heavyweight Action, with the #1,#3,#4,#5 and #7 in action, that should guarantee some KO.

Up in the Main Event Ross Barkley will face Santu Kona, the two agreed to fight each other, after both failed to dethrone Rick Piano, as Kona is preparing for a rematch, but needs a win here, Barkley wants to show he is the No. 1 behind Piano, but after 2 defeats it is doubtful there will be a 3rd encounter. Well Barkley, a SFC veteran is 8-4 overall, and 5-2 at SyFi with the 2 losses against Piano, he will look to show his dominating clinch agressiveness against Kona, who's 8-1 (2-1 at Syfi), with his only loss against Piano. Kona is a much more carefull fighter, that beat Dillon and Fujimoto by 1st Round (T)Ko, who we'll see in the fights before. Look for Kona as the favourite, but this fight should provide a No.1 Challenger.

The Co-Main Event features Bill Shorton and Travis Dillon, 265 heros and challengers, Shorton (8-2), is known for his fierce punch power, as you may have guessed, his 2 losses came against Piano. Shorton never had a fight go into Round 2, let's see, if Dillon can challenge him. Dillon (7-2) lost to Kona and Barkley, who we'll see in the Main Event, while still younger than other top SyFi Heavyweights he's never shying away, a win here could bring him back on track, but look at Shorton as the huge favourite.

In the Main Card we see Gyukosho "Fujizilla" Fujimoto(6-3), the japanese talent is another one never denying a fight, he fought Piano, Kona and Barkley aand despite a 3 fight loosing streak didn't give up, he beat Tourney Dissapointment and Isaac Arthur to get back in the rankings, and now wants to build his win streak against Journeyman Mark Borrego (5-4), who has losses to Dillon and Shorton.

Jeff Messer faces DeAngelo Montgomery at 265+, this is a fight, that may show the future with Montgomery vs. The past with Messer. Messer is 5-4, having battled all top SyFi stars including Champ Arn Anderson, whom he lost against, Montgomery at 2-0-1 is a 20yo talent, who won his first SyFi fight, and faces the test of his career against Messer.

Other action sees the SyFi debut at 265 of Lazareus Limbtwister against Ben Elliot. A fierce 265+ battle between Mkubwa and Vovchavchyn, along Emilio Disi making his 2nd SFC appearance.

Saturday:

Along the 155 title fight, the Saturday Card features a Co.-Main Event of 2 former 155 Champs, Xavier Merlin makes his first appearance since loosing the belt to Marcelo. Merlin (8-3) was on a 4 fight win streak, before being denied a succesful title defense by Marcelo, where he suffered a submission, something he usually hands out. His opponent Golovkin won the belt back in April against bernardo Barros, who today will try to win the championship in the Main Event. With so much corner stories, Golovkin lost his immediatly in his first defense just like Merlin. Akimbo Spice, who by now has retired beat him that night. Golovkin is on a 2 fight win streak, and it's obvious, the winner may get another shot at the belt.

In the Main Card, Ross Warring (7-2) tries to make it 3 out of 3 in SyFi Fights, while his opponent Besy Jyre (8-1) makes his SyFi debut, after fighting at AFC for a long time, both fighters are serious challengers at 170, and want to land a title fight.

Also at 155 Killian Armstrong faces Julius Wolf, both fighters are managed by the same person, and it's strange Verne Gagne agreed on that fight, but it's obvious Armstrong on a 3 fight win streaks is the more impressive recently.

Other action sees the SyFi debut of 4-0 and former Torcida 135 and 145 champ Forious Munchkin, the highly touted fighter, comes in the SFC cage against Dieselnoi Pramuk, a fierce fighter known for good battles, also watch out for 3-0 Henry Bickle at 145.

Sunday:

Alongside the 185 title fight the Sunday Card is highlighted by 205 action, all 3 other top fights take place at 205, where Champ Melvin Comeau will defend against Marky Mark next week.

The CO Main Event sees Heimo Vesa and Corey Smith, 2 guys on different career paths, Vesa (7-1) started out fighting at EFA, and recently joined SyFi, where he won his debut against Hector Hagoma, Smith jr. Is a SFC vet, 1 yr older, he is 6-1, and on a 5 fight win streak, he beat SFC stars as Kuwabara and former Champ Camara, and brings a clean Boxing style, Vesa a boxer himself is stepping up in competition, but expect a firework here.

Pablo Spezziale (9-4) will face up and comer Bann Harrow (7-1) in the Main Card fight before. Harrow is a clean cut through SFC, he lost at NJMMA early in his career, and enters on a 5 fight win streak, all by (T)KO, recently needing 2 rounds, and not just 1. Spezziale was a member of the NY Legends Tournament and joined SyFi afterwards, his 3 round battle with McNasty in his title shot is legendary, and while McNasty lost the title, Spezziale is making another go round and beat Dmitrievich by KO in his most recent fight. It's clear both fighters are on path for a title shot with a win.

Dai Zexi faces Mohsin Zaidi in the fight before, Dai Zexi was so close to a title shot, but Marky Mark stopped his 4 fight win streak and got the title shot. Zexi a brown belt submission specialist failed to stop him, and now wants to get going again, Zaidi (5-4) is a EFA veteran and makes his SyFi debut.

Other big shots on the card are former 185 champ Big Asznee, trying to stop a 2 fight skid, and a 205 battle between Dmitrievich and Ionnau, who want to rebound from losses.

Corey Smith Jr.: And my win streak improves to six! I would like to try my hand at Dai Zexi next, if the management of this fine organization would like that. I feel that will be a great fight and that it will be amazing to watch. Amazing for about 90 seconds...

Weekend Preview

It's likely one of the biggest upcoming fight weekends, SFC presents 3 title fights, and 3 cards of bonanza action, with the 265,205 and 135 title on the Line, with such a huge overhead, let's dive into those cards:

265 Title Rick Piano vs. Milton Friedman

With SFC fighters shying away from fighting Rick Piano, SFC owner Boble Lineman was looking for options to sign thrilling Heavyweights, that would sign the dotted line, gearing up, he found Milton Friedman, so here is the fight former NJMMA veteran Milton Friedman (11-3) faces the Champ of the Champs Heavyweight King Rick Piano (11-0). Whoever has watched SFC fighting saw Piano, well, you have likely seen him more on posters, Merchandise or TV ads, as you saw him in the cage, as his fights all are quickies. Making his 7th title defense Piano won all of them by KO, and only 1 fighter (famous Ross Barkley) made it into Round 2. With a gazillion of KO power by Piano, what to expect by Friedman. Well, Friedman matches Pianos wrestling skills, but lacks that serious KO power, he went the distance twice, and has some nice (T)KO wins, but he for sure hasn'T faced a fighter like Piano. Both his losses at NJMMA came to Tabatabai, a 7-4 veteran, best described as average Muay Thai Fighter. So if anything else than a first Round KO win for Piano happens, well.....don't mind....Santu Kona at least should have a first round seat, as we heard he was confirmed as the No. 1 Challenger for a likely rematch with Piano afterwards.

205 Title Melvin Comeau v Marky Mark

In the CO-Main Event on Saturday Melvin Comeau will defend his 205 belt for the first time, he shocked the MMA scene, when he battled Mister McNasty in his 5th title defense, and ripped the belt from him. A 13-4 veteran youngster Comeau finally in his 4th try at a title (at RISE and here) got a unanimous decision. Comeau is a pure stand up fighter, that can excel when asked to, while in the beginning of his career he was a quick KO specialist, he transformed into a long distance veteran, going 5 rounds with McNasty twice. Marky Mark (10-2) on the other hand will bring action to the ring, but have a similar fighting style, unless one of the two sees reason to change his style, expect a thrilling stand up battle with the veterans trying to get their head off. Marky Mark entered SFC just recently, being part of the NY Fight Night Tournament, where he faced SFC vets like Blake Phoenix and Pablo Spezziale, he won his first fight against No. 1 Contender Dai Zexi by Unanimous Decision, denying the SFC front runner a title shot. Look out for this one exploding fast, with Comeau likely needing to survive a couple rounds to get into it.

135 Title Yodsawan Sitsongrit v Brain Fog

Sundays Co-Main Event is the first title defense of new Champ Yodsawan Sitsongrit, as all Sitsongrit Camp fighters, he is a muay Thai spacialist, that showed all his class, when dethroning double Champ Daichi Kishimoto, by a first Round TKO. However the days, when fans stormed the Arena to see the glorious Kishimoto are gone, hwoever, there is all chance in the world for Yodsawan to built fame based on his win. Brain Fog, the first Challenger, is quite the opposite, under new management the eventfull wrestler and submission artist finally got a title shot, against a fighter he just lost 2 fights ago. With so much new talent at 135, and the glorious poster figure disappearing, a win over Paulie Greene in his first fight under new management was enough to earn the shot for Brain Fog. Looking back at their encounter on 1st of July, it was a great fight, where Brain Fog likely was ahead on the judges scorecards, before Yodsawan showed his class in Round 3, he dominated Brain Fog in every aspect, and knocked him down and Koed him with 2 seconds left. Well, let's see what new tactics Brain Fogs new Manager can bring to the table.

Friday:

Main Event:

205 Jamison Cassidy v Mister McNasty

This fight likely is the eliminator for a title shot at the Comeau vs. Mark winner, both fighters bring great SyFI experience and records, Mc Nasty the former champ, is 11-4, but 7-1 at SyFi, with his only loss coming in the classic against Comeau, he is an exceptional boxer, that uses the clinch and his wrestling abilities to score TKOs , Cassidy is almost his counter part, solid in standup, he excels on the ground, with a black belt and a 6-0 record, with 3 clean submission wins in a row. Cassidy has beaten SyFi Legens like Camara and Leekpai, a win here should certainly qualify him for a title shot in a huge deep class at 205. Expect a good fight and some Nasty moves by both fighters.

Co-Main Event:

205 Ibrahim Camara v Hektor Hagoma

Also at 205 Camara and Hagoma are on different paths, Camara (8-7) is 1-1 at SyFi, and has had an up and down career, always showing flashs of class, he looks for a win to keep a streak going, and seperate himself from the pack. Hagoma is under new management (6-3), he lost his last 2 fights, and after looking promising at NJMMA, his career has gone backwards since joining SFC. Both fighters have similar styles, where a strong clinch game is their backbone.

In the Main Card, 185 battles are in, Shaggy Shank and Arthur Menezes both make their SyFi debut, but both are veterans of the cage, fighting at NJMMA before, Menezes (6-4) is a black belt, that should be the clear favourite, but look for Shaggy to do a good job, as long as he can keep it standing.

Michel Colucci v Travis Mitchell presents two strong youngesters, Colucci 7-0 has won both his 2 SyFi fights in style, and clearly looks to climb the rankings with a win here, Mitchell (6-3) is on a 2 fight win streak, after loosing to Bumanov and Ragnaar. As Mitchell may want to avenge those losses, he'll need all his talent vs. Colucci, who has yet to be tested.

Look out for Kazuma Kuwabara returning to action, after loosing his unbeaten record to Corey Smith at 205, where he faces Steve Roach, at 155 Lermontov (5-2) vs. Ahma (4-0) should be a great battle, both fly under the radar, and Lermontov suffered a defeat vs. Former champ Akimbo Spice, but both fighters can recommend them for a ranking spot with a win. In our youngster look 2-0 George Peterson may be something special.

Saturday:

With 2 title fights on the Menu, the Main Card features the big boys, at 265+ , the super Heavys, first up Jason Harris v Ole Anderson features Haris (7-0), who refugeed from the Piano dominated 265 class, not yet a true Super Heavyweight he faces veteran Ole Anderson (6-4), the younger brother of former champ Arn Anderson. Ole is a veteran, that likes to fight on the ground, while Haris matches in the classic stand-up vs. Ground guy fight.

Also at 265+ Mongolian Muslim faces Jason Imbert, Mongolian Muslim (9-4) lost to both Anderson brothers, after winning the title in his first encounter with Arn, he likely will be happy to face a stand up battle with 4-4 Imbert, who is a well travelled journeyman, that was never shy to face the top of the 265+ class.

Other action sees a lot of fighters trying to rebound from losses, like 4-1-1 Edgar Arvestiyan, who struggled in his recent fights, after going 4-0 early, but the card also has a top debutant at SyFi, at 5-0 Batang Timang comes from NJMMA and looks to collect some teaths at SyFi.

Sunday:

With the Co-Main Event being the title fight, the card holds two nice eliminators for a title shot,

at 170 in the Main Event: Kevin Daughtrey v Akira Harada is a rematch between the two, Daugthrey beat Harada back in April, to earn his first title shot, he lost to Mike Johnson, and came back with 2 wins nicely, to earn a crack at Gideon Navaro, who recently lost to Whitaker. With a win here, many predict, that Daughtrey will get his 3rd shot at glory. Harada himself, (8-3) is on a 2 fight win streak, and has ended a 2 fight loosing streak with a win over Putem the Nightmare, followed by a Decision win over Julmu. If he wins, it is not that certain, he will get a crack at the belt. Look for both to keep it standing.

The Main Card features a nice 135 battle, where the winner may face the winner of the title fight. Sanka Coffie (6-1) faces Pekka Pikairainnen (8-2), both rank near the top, Sanka has already made his mark at SyFi, when he beat Gary Dema by TKO, after arriving from NJMMA. Pekka , an EFA veteran, would like to make the same arrival by beating Sanka this night. Look for blood flying, with both fighters excellent all-rounders. In the other Main carder at 170, Steve Collins looks to rebound from a loss vs. Daughtrey vs. Newcomer Facundo Galley, who fought at RISE before.

Also look for EFA arrival Kai perkins (4-2) facing John Mills(5-2), who won his first SyFi fight after arriving from EFL, should be a nice 145 battle.

Weekend Recap:

It was a weekend, that shocked Sydney Fights, rattled it, and returned it as a new Organisation, the Poster Boy, famous Heavyweight Rick Piano got dethroned by a fighter, that was given zero Chance, Milton Friedman is the new King of Sydney, wearing his crown with a big identity.

But let's go day by day:

Friday:

Fridays Main Event saw Mister McNasty return to his normal self, and bring back the class he showed, when ruling the Light Heavyweight Division, the 205 class saw McNasty defeat previously unbeaten James Cassidy, and earned a likely rematch to get his crown back. McNasty cut Cassidy early on, and from then on domiated with various Head and Body punches, after the 4:00 mark it got worse, Cassidy got knocked down twice, was rocked, and finally got finished when an uppercut send him dreaming, and the flurries afterwards forced the ref to call a stoppage. Mc Nasty dominated, and will prepare for a likely title fight in 3 weeks.

In the Co-Main Event, also at 205, it was Ibrihim Camara, that got the better of Hector Hagoma. Camara now 9-7, finally got a 2 fight win streak going, and will look to establish himself in the 205 power rankings. With both fighters happy in the clinch it was Camara, that did clearly more damage, he dominated in all aspects, and collected the TKO early in Round 2. For Hagoma, under new management, it was the third defeat in a row, likely sending him out, if he can't rebound.

The Main card presented strong performances, at 185 Arthur Menezes and Michel Colluci both got easy wins with 1st Round Submissions, there all ready is talk of the two facing each other would be a great battle.

Other action saw Steve Roach suprise Kazuma Kawubara by a Decision win, and perhaps even more surprising Verni Ahma defeated Fieyro Lermontov, who seems unable to recover from the Akimbo Spice fight, he already shockingly lost. Keep an eye on other winners Yormoza Built and George Peterson.

Fight of the night: Elvis Presley vs Kannissa Kaki

KO of the night: Yormomza Built

Sub of the night: Arthur Menezes

Saturday:

With 2 title fights on the line, the most elusive and attractive happening was the Main Event.

The Arena in Sydney was devided in 2 halfs, the Piano fans, and the Piano haters, being the most controversial figure in SFC, Rick Piano stepped in the cage with his belt, with Cheers and Boos reigning down the Arena. Milton Friedman at that time hardly got attention, well, that should change. The ongoing bets were about how long it would take Piano to KO Friedman, and you couldn't earn a lot betting at under 1 or 2 minutes. But it all came different, Friedman with his 2nd action, before Piano could even look dove for a Takedown, and set the tone, furious Ground and Pound strikes hit the champ for the next 3 minutes, when the referee finally stood them up. But not for long, only one Piano Punch landed(the only one the whole night), before Friedmann took him down again and started a flurry of Ground Strikes. Saved by the bell, Piano looked frustrated, his corner stunned, and when the bell rang for Round 2, it was Friedman, that changed levels again, taking down Piano, 3:30 later it was all done, with Piano never gettin up again, or being able to do anything. Friedman dominated the affair in a crazy way. The celebration for the new Heavyweight Champ was on, and discussions about a possible rematch or a Sanu Kona fight began.

The Co-Main Event, a 205 title fight was overshadowed a lot by the aftermath. Melvin Comeau, making the first defense after beating McNasty presented it's belt, and made a Champion like performance. Marky Mark, No.1 Challenger after beating Dai Zexi in his first SFC fight, never got it going, he rocked Marky Mark in Round 1, and despite being cut looked ok, Marky Mark won the first Round, but just due to more activity, the more dangerous fighter clearly was Comeau. In Round 2 it was a bit more of Melvin Comeau domination, both were happy to keep the fight standing, and Comeau clearly dominated the affair, a clean KO after 1:42 ended the fight, and Comeau could defend his belt.

The Main Card was no sleeper either, Jason Haris made his 265+ debut, and just continued like he did at 265, former challenger Ole Anderson, had a nice first round, taking down Haris, who however kept his composure. Untested on the Ground Haris survived Round 1 against the submission specialist, and then got the better of him in Round 2. A Clean KO win for Haris.

Also at 265+ former Champ Mongolian Muslim returned to form, and stopped his 2 fight skid with a TKO win over Jason Imbert. Brandon Kay had a convincing debut SFC win, and Edgar Avestiyan, the young Armenian returned to winning form at 170.

Fight of the night: Tenshin Segawa vs Batang Timang

KO of the night: Ezekiel Xzavier

Sub of the night: no submission

Sunday:

The Main Event on Sunday served us a rematch at 170 between Kevin Daughtrey and Akira Harada, with the winner likely receiving a shot at next weeks title fight winner. Daughtrey from the beginning made clear that he wanted to dominate Harada, like in the first fight, where he got a 1:59 TKO, well, this time Harada saw the end of Round 1, but he was dominated in the clinch as bad as before. Daugthrey used Head and Body Punches, and it was always a chance for Harada to get out, the damage was done in the clinch. Round 2 started the same , and at the 2 minute mark, it was all Daughtrey dominating the affair. He rocked Harada, and then got the finish. So time for Daugthrey to celebrate, and likely head to his 3rd title fight.

The CO-Main Event saw the first title defense of Yodsawan Sitsongrit, a warrior, that was the one to end Daishi Koishimotos double championship reign. His first opponent was no stranger, as Brain Fog had just lost to Yodsawan before the later became champion. In todays fight, it was stand up all the way, for Yodsawan, who wanted no business with the dangerous submission artist on the ground. Brain Fog was denied often, but not all the time, as he got the fight to the ground on 4 occasions, but never threatened to get that submission. All rounds were domated by Yodsawan in the stand up, and after the championship distance of 5 rounds, his arm was raised, and he could celebrate his ruling of 135.

In the fight before, the next challenger was searched, and Sanka Coffie, in his 2nd SFC fight, faced Pekka Pikarainnen, with the Finn making his SFC debut. Sanka and Pekka, really got the crowd on their feet. A back and forth battle, with Sanka dominant in the clinch, and both fighters not shying away to fight on the ground evolved, Sanka looked for submissions, while Pekka used some ground and pound, in the end it came to the judges, and all had Sanka with a 29:28 battle win.

Other fights saw Facundo Galley win his SFC debut against former title challenger Steve Collins. Wagner Resende complete the only submission win of the night at 185, and John Mills evolve as a 145 contender.

Weekend Preview:

After 3 title fights and a big shocker with Piano loosing, let's prepare for a weekend back to fighting at Sydney, 2 title fights at 170 on Saturday and 265+ on Sunday highlight Sydneys Fightcards, but as always be prepared to experience the unknown. This week SyFi will experiment with PPV for the first time, both Fridays and Sundays Cards can be bought from your local provider around the world.

Let's get it going with the title fights:

170 Roy Whitaker v Gideon Navarro

This is a rematch of the clear cut best two fighters at 170 at SyFi currently, they both have impressive records, Whitaker (7-0) and Navarro (9-2). let's look back at their first fight, just 4 weeks ago, Whitaker, the unbeaten challenger gave his heart in a battle of two stand up warriors, Navaro had the better of round 1, but both saw their chances, in Round 3 Whitaker got a TKO that gave him the belt. Let's see what tactics Navaro will have on Saturday, he tried to change levels, and can keep going with Whitaker, I expect everything, this is a hightlight reel canidate, watch out for big things.

265+ Jim Bob McDonald v Matt Wills

On Sunday the big boys will take the stage, recently crowned Superheavyweight Champ Jim Bob McDonald will make his first defense vs. Matt Wils, who will have his 2nd shot at the belt.

Former MLC Champ McDonald got the SyFi belt in his 2nd try, when he beat long time Champ Arn Anderson by TKO. All of McDonalds SyFi fights have been 1 Round affairs, so expect nothing else here, he will likely either get a (T) KO win quick, or be submitted. Matt Wills has never seen Round 2 in his career, he is 8-2, and either got a submission or was upended, once by Arn Anderson via Submission in Round 1, and once by Harald Knochmal a 1st Round KO. So the task will be hard for McDonald, who needs to keep it standing while punishing Wills.

Friday:

Now, let's go day by day:

Main Event:

265+ Arn Anderson v Galactor Gigantus

the fighter we just heard about Arn Anderson, for the first time since February will not be fighting for the belt, after loosing to McDonald, while many thought a rematch was a done deal, SFC Owner Boble Lineman stepped up and held word with Matt Wills, that he will get the title shot, so Anderson will get the next best thing, a Friday Main Event, with the winner receiving a title shot. This is a rematch of the twos title fight back in July, when Anderson got a 1st Round Submission against a tired Gigantus. Let's see, if this time Gigantus can keep it standing this time, Gigantus beat Yaroslev by TKO after the title fight loss, and with a win tonight also would claim a shot at the belt.

This sure is a heavyweight battle, and an intriguing matchup.

Co-Main Event:

145 Jazz Clementine v Marcos Santana

Two fighters, that met before will face each other in this one. Back in May Jazz Clemtine won the vacant 145 belt, when he faced 4-0 Santana, a fight, which lasted only 43 seconds. Clemtine used his powerful standup, to deny the Brazilian any takedowns, and got a quick win. Will this be repeatable, since then both fighters had some tough times, Clementine lost his belt to Kishimoto, and also lost a rematch, lately he got upended by the russian fighter, whose name no one can pronounce. Santana on the other hand went 2-2. loosing to Zieske recently, a fighter on his way to a title shot. Both will look to get their career back on track here.

The Main Card presents us Mosi Kondo v Damian Anderson at 170, a battle of 2 ranked fighters, Kondo has taken SyFi by storm, going 3-0 and remaining unbeaten so far, a Muay Thai specialist he'll face boxer Anderson(6-3), a EFA veteran, in his SyFi debut. Don't expect this one to last long, it's gonna be a stand up war. In other action at 145 Zieske will try to make it 7 wins in a row, and get a title shot at next weeks title fight winner. Long in the waiting Zieske is a submission artist, he'll face 4-3 SyFi debutant Ramazan Jainar, expectations are a quick win for Zieske, who many see as the most classy fighter in the division.

Watch out also for Lotus Flower trying to make it 4 wins in a row in a 135 battle with Paulie Greene.

Saturday:

With the Main Event the 170 title fight, let's look at the Co-Main Event and more 265+ action this week, when Maxim Popov faces Wladimir Yaroslev, 2 fighters that want to break through, Yaroslev recntly lost to Galactor Gigantus, and is 1-3 in his last 4 fights, many think this may be one of his final chances to get going at SyFi. Maxim Popov recently broke a 2 fight loosing streak, when he ended the unbeaten streak of Kimi Loiri, he had the feeling of being submitted by challenger Matt Wills before. Look for a stand-up battle here.

This already shows, that the Saturday card lacks a bit of depth, on the Main card, Deklek Sitsongrit faces Steph Curry at 155. Deklek, an exile Sitsongrit fighter, who kept his name, is 7-4 (3-2 at SyFi) recently broke a 2 fight loosing streak, when beating Chakrii Weechasangram in a name battle. A veteran Muay Thai fighter, Steph Curry, a talented Muay Thai fighter, this is gonna be a clinch war and kick battle likely, Curry is 4-3, but after a shaky start has put on a 3 fight win streak, which he likes to keep going.

In 170 action Ariel at Night will make his 2nd appearance under new management, and will look to rebound from an earlier loss, against Alvey Kulina, his opponent Pahani Julmu also enters on a 2 fight loosing streak, with a draw before. He is more balanced and can fight on all levels, but it is clear both fighters need a win to keep their careers going back in the right direction.

In the undercard watch, look for Chicken Destroyer making his 2nd SyFi appearance, after an easy sub win first time out. The unbeaten talent is one to keep your eyes on,

Sunday:

The card on Sunday has more depth as you can see in the 205 Co-Main Event Blake Phoenix v Rohith Sharma, Phoenix (11-3) reentered the SyFi rankings with a win over Mujahid Jackson, and is destined to get on top a division, he wanted to rule before a loss to Pablo Spezziale. After Spezzialle failed to win the title, Phoenix now is back on track, but Sharma will be a tough test, 5-0, with 4 wins at Torcida, he is the first of many Torcida refugees to step in the SyFi cage, a precision standup allrounder, he will give Phoenix a great battle, both fighters are used to go the distance, so expect a long lasting fight of the Night contender.

The Main Card serves us 155 action when Mark Henderson faces Jerry Jacobs, Henderson is 10-5, and for the first time will fight in regular action, he was one of many island products to make it to regular fighting. He lost in the 3rd Round of the 155 tournament and is a BJJ specialist. Jacobs (6-4) is another Torcida project, he had some up and downs there, the veteran Muay Thai fighter will look to keep this standing, and only has 1 submission loss so far. At 205 ranked fighter Boogie Rollins will try to make it 5 in a row, when facing 5-0 Antonovich, an unbeaten talent, that makes a huge step up in class. Rollins entered the rankings when he beat Isiah Cooley, now he wants to confirm his class against Antonovic. Perhaps this is a bit early for the youngster, but Antonovich has all KO power, and can upend anyone with a big bang.

Also at 205 Krit Leekpai and Mujahid Jackson look to rebound from losses, in our future watch look for 4-0 Hip Hop, perhaps the biggest talent at 265, he looks so dangerous, with 3 Kos at SyFi, and now he will face Torcida veteran Mike Holmes jr.

Thats it, let's go to action brought to you by Combat Wombat, your Sydney stop for clothes and Laundry......

Weekend Review:

It was the first time SFC experimented with PPVs, and well, it was way too early, but a lot of fun, so fight fans shouldn't worry too much, SFC is in stable financial waters, and there is more reservoir then a sea of gold. In fight action it was a rather uneventful weekeend concerning the titles, two titles were on the line, and we saw two succesful defenses.

Please note, that owner Boble Lineman will be on holiday the first 2 weeks of September, operations should continue, but at a slower than usual pace.

Friday:

Super Heavyweights are always fun to watch, and when Arn Anderson, the former long time champ, and his opponent Galactor Gigantus entered the cage you could see something like 600 pounds chsing themself in the cage. As in their first fight, Arn Anderson wasted no time, took down his opponent, and quickly finished the job, earning submission win No. 10, a SyFi record by far. Anderson was his old self, and immediatly after the fight it was clear, that he is named as the No. 1 Challenger facing whoever will come out victorious of Sundays title fight.

In the CO Main Event, it was a 145 battle, that was a rematch of a previous title fight. Jazz Clementine beat Santana to win the title back in May. The result in case of the winner was the same this time around, but it was a much tougher battle for Clementine. Unable to stop Santanas furious takedown attempts in the first 2 rounds, Clementine fought a come from behind battle, but landed some cracking shots in the third round, denying Santana a win, and fought himself back to contention at 145, where his only losses are to the fighters, that will battle for the title next week.

The No. 1 Challenger spot at 145 however belongs to a fighter we saw earlier on the Main Card, Philipp Zieske beat Ramazan Jainar by Submission in the last ticks of Round 1. dominating the former NJMMA fighter, Zieske needed 6 takedown attempts to get it to the ground, and 7 submission attempts to end it there, but after 4:55 he was a solid winner, and with a 7 fight win streak surely build up for a title fight.

At 170 Mosi Kondo remained unbeaten, with a solid 2nd round win via submission by strikes over Damian Anderson.Other action saw Chamuaknoi Sitsongrit and Paulie Greene get great wins at 135, that moved both up in the rankings of the smallest weight class.

Fight of the night: Paulie Greene vs Lotus Flower

KO of the night: Chamuaknoi Sitsongrit

Sub of the night: Arn Anderson

Saturday:

The rematch between Roy Whitaker and Gideon Navaro was as good, if not even better, than their first battle, with the 170 title on the line, it was a close first round, Navarro got a couple takedowns, but could not do much on the ground, Whitaker stood their with solid boxing and ground defense.

Round 2 saw Whitaker being cut, but once again he denied any big action by Navarro in the clinch or the ground, and his solid boxing won him the round. Round 3 was when the action began, Whitaker got rocked, but answered by a big knockdown with a combo. Navarro was woobly but recovered, and hang on to finish the round, but the scorecards had Whitaker all up. In Round 4 the destiny hit, Whitaker got banging away more freely, and after another knockdown and raining punches, at 3:58 the ref called it a fight. Whitaker defended the belt, and remains a top the 170 class. Kevin Daughtrey, noticed in the arena, likely will have his hands full in a training camp for his third run at a title. Whitaker was seen celebrating downtown Sydney later that night, with his cut not that severe.

In the Co Main Event Wladimir Yaroslev dragged a helpless looking Maxim Popov to a Decision win. Yaroslev made each of the three rounds look alike, get an early takedown, and from then on punish Popov with some serious ground and pound, while trying a submission once in a while. Popov missed all his punches, and never made a move on the ground. Yaroslev will reenter the ranking, and avoided a loosing streak.

The Main Card saw Steph Curry battle Deklek Sitsongrit in a fight of the night over 3 exciting rounds, Curry, fighting at 155, extended his win streak to 4. In the fight itself, both fighters were moving in and out of the clinch at will, with both fighters prefering a stand up battle, and unsure if better in boxing or clinching, Curry simply overran his opponent by throwing and landing more punches. Deklek looked dangerous with some kicks, but in general was outpowered. Steph Curry will enter the rankings based on this performance.

Ariel at Night turned his fortune around, by landing his first win under new management, and Pahani Julmu lost for a 3rd time in a row, being on the brinck of elimination. At Night, was dominant with his Ground and Pound, and denied all sub attempts by Julmu, he won by TKO in a heartwarming warrior style.

Other fights saw Silvio Dante stop a loosing streak at 145, Chicken Destroyer got SFC win No. 2, and Desi Kraag came in nicely in a winning way from EFA.

Fight of the night: Steph Curry vs Deklek Sitsongrit

KO of the night: Silvio Dante

Sub of the night: Oliver Huang

Sunday:

Mat Wills had his second shot at SyFi Gold, when he faced Champion Jim Bob McDonald at 265+, the fight fans jumped in extasy, as he made his way to the cage. Wills clearly had his tactic set, and in Round 1, it looked like he could get something done, when he was succesful with his 2nd takedown attempt, but the fight on the ground developed different. Wills was far from dominating the ground game, McDonald was hip to hip with him, moving great and denying both sub attempts, even landing shots himself. When Round 2 started it was all different, McDonald stuffed a takedown, and then hit heavy punches, cutting, rocking and finally KO ing Wills. An impressive defense for McDonald, who now will face long time Champ Arn Anderson, to make it a trilogy.

The Co-Main Event was a 205 fight that got impressive marks, and landed FOTN, unbeaten Torcida refugee Rohith Sharma faced Blake Phoenix, who is clearly eyeing a title shot, and the two gave everything in an impressive 3 round battle. In a standup war Sharma was the more versatile, as he always put in kicks, but Phoenix was better with his punches and their targetting. In the end the judges gave a 29:28 verdict, and Phoenix title hopes are kept alive.

The Main Card saw the SyFi debut of another Torcida Refugee, as Jerry Jacobs ran away with a first Round TKO over Island fighter Mark Henderson, an impressive SyFi welcome for the 155 fighter, who now is already within the Top 5 of the division.

More 205 action saw Boogie Rollins and Krit Leekpai earn wins. Rollins is positioning himself in the top of the division nicely.

Other winners were Zedidiah Goldberg at 185 and Hip Hop at 265.

Fight of the night: Blake Phoenix vs Rohith Sharma

KO of the night: Hip Hop

Sub of the night: Marcelinho Lima

Weekend Preview

So folks, 3 title fights highlight the action at Sydney Fights this weekend, already be warned, that Boble Lineman will be absent quite a lot the next 2 weeks, he'll try to handle most of the daily routines, but it is unsure if fight Reviews and Previews can be provided, except for SyFi 100, which of course will get a detailed Preview.

So now to this weekend:

145 Title Daichi Kishimoto v Илья Муромец

Former two weight class champ Daichi Kishimoto took some time off, after loosing the 135 belt to Yodsawan Sitsongrit, but as he didn't want to forfeit the 145 belt, he now finds his way back in the cage, and faces someone he already beat earlier Илья Муромец. The Russian Challenger has beaten Logan Lord and Jazz Clementine, since his decision loss to Kishimoto, and is the established No. 1 at 145. Looking back at their first encounter, it was Kishimoto, that dominated most of the 3 rounds they fought, but looked much more exhausted than his opponent. He got a 29:28 verdict on all 3 cards, but his ground game lacked some discipline and decisivness, as it was the first fight in a long time he couldn't finish. All eyes on Saturday will be on this fight, which strangly is only the Co-Main Event.

155 title Bernardo De Barros v Xavier Merlin

Bernardo de Barros (9-2) will be the next to try and defend the 155 belt, something, that has not been achieved at SyFi, with some vacancies, disappearing fighters, and other strange stories. De Barros comes in on a 5 fight win streak, and after beating Marcelo by submission, now faces the fighter Marcelo won the title from. Thats how round and round the 155 belt goes. Xavier Merlin (9-3) has beaten Gennady Golovkin by 1st round submission, to earn a shot back at a belt he held before. Merlin lost to Marcelo rather sursprising by 2nd Round submission. Take your own guess, as both fighters are black belts, and this fight should move to the ground very quick.

185 title Wayne Benning v Iso Paa

The Co-Main Event on Sunday sees another title fight, the 185 class also saw quite a few title changes, most recently Wayne Benning got the belt back from Joey Hatton by a 5th round TKO. Hatton afterwards changed management, and many belive he will make a run at the title soon again. Benning avenged a 1st round submission win to Hatton with the recent win, after originally taking the belt from Big Asznee with a second Round TKO. Benning (9-2) s only losses have come in title fights, look for Iso Paa (7-1) test that come Sunday. Paa was on the watch list of many, and could have had the title shot earlier, he went through the division like a hot knife, and except a decision win vs. Cruciani, he won all fights by (T) KO. His recent win against Di Marzio , a big KO punch, finally earned him the title shot. Both fighters will test each others chin, and look for Iso Paa to make a run at the title.

Friday:

Main Event:

Dan Gee v Jacob Rees Mogg

The winner of this 185 battle will surely get a title shot at Sundays winner, Dan Gee (11-1) has won all 3 of his SyFi fights, earning fight of the night twice, he clearly is the No. 1 Challenger as of today, but instead of waiting out for the champ to defend choose to take on one more comer. Jacob Rees Mogg (12-1) makes his SyFi debut. He fought on the Island, and there was representing himself in the Tournament final, where he lost to Middle Weight, as always the transition from the Island will be a tough one, but Jacob Rees looks to have the tools, a wonderful Boxer, he'll face the stand up test against Muay Thai Specialist Dan Gee. Expect a Fight of the Night contender here.

Co-Main Event:

Derek Payne v Lazerus Limbtwister

Heavyweights are always awesome to watch, and Derek Payne (10-1) comes in here making his SyFi debut, after some epic battles at Torcida, where he was a long time champion, against Limbtwister he faces a fighter, that made his transition from EFA to Syfi with his last win. Limbtwister submitted Ben Elliot in Round 1 in a succesful SyFi debut, look for him to built on it.

The Main Card presents 2 Superheavyweight battles, as first DeAngelo Montgomery (3-0-1) wants his third SyFi win, many view him as a potential champ, as the youngester has some great talent shown in his first two SyFi fights. His opponent Bwana Mkubwa is a SyFi veteran, at 6-3, he won recently against Vovchavchyn, but his win streak was stopped cold by Jeff Messer.

In the other fight this mentioned Jeff Messer (5-5), a real SyFi journey man, will look to rebound from a loss, when he faces former Torcida fighter Kenrick Nikil jr, who makes his SyFi debut and is 4-2.

Look for Torcida vets Akhmedov and Mikkonnen to face off on the Undercard, in their SyFi debut, and watch for Itzhak Weinstein and Sergey Korotkiy, as we have more 265 battles.

Saturday:

The Main Event on Saturday(remember the Co-Main Event will be the 145 title fight, was planned as a eliminator for a 205 title fight. Dai Zexi will face Corey Smith jr. , and it still may be, if Smith jr. Wins. In the built up to the fight we learned, that this will likely be Dai Zexis last SyFi fight, as the manager could not reach an agreement with the Org Owner. That news somewhat shattered expectations, but Corey Smith jr (7-1) brings a 6 fight win streak, including wins over Vesa, Kuwabara and former 205 champ Damatang Camara. So Zexi (9-2), who lost an Eliminator to Marky Mark before, will be warned, and his last SyFi fight should be no walk through.

The Main Card sees two 185 SyFi debutants, Kaz McStefferson(9-6) comes in from the Island, while his opponent Christopher Ball, also was on the Island. Ball was slightly more succesful beating McStefferson in a Tournament fight, by TKO as well as in a Beach Fight Matchup, so all good things may be three, as these two are matched up again.

At 205 we have more SyFi debuts, Denubis Majere comes in at 5-1, and the youngster so far only lost to former Torcida Champ Rear Breed, a fighter many would love to see at SyFi, but tonight he'll face George Lambton, a 9-4 Island Fighter, who won the 205 Tournament on the Island. This should be a goodie of two youngsters.

Fight of the Night contender may be at 170 Chakrii Weechasagaram against Thor Odinson, both are known for fierce battles, and had a desire to face each other, Chakrii will step up from 155, determing his fate at SyFi. Plus at 265, former CCF fighter More "The Hungarian Giant" IsMore Ii will make his SyFi debut, many see him as a potential title challenger in the future.

Sunday:

With 2 title fights highlighting the card it will be the smaller weight classes dominating the rest of the card, at 135 Dieselnoi Por Pramuk v Wayne Williams tops the Main card, Pramuk (7-3) is on a 3 fight win streak, after losses to Yodsawan, Glass Joe and Kishimoto, he rebounded by clearing the smaller value of the 135 setup, all Decision wins, look for his battle with Williams to get interesting. Williams(7-3) rebounded from a decision loss to Glass Joe by beating Erran Morad. He sure seems to have more KO Power than Pramuk. However don't be surprised, if the Thai Fighter gets this.

At 155 another battle of ranked fighters is up, as Nazim Bardakci v Philip Moore promises to be a good one, Bardakci a submission specialist is on a 2 fight win streak trying to build on that, however standup allrounder Moore (5-2) may be a tough test. Moore has won 5 in a row, and sure is on a roll, some of his fights took all 3 rounds, but he sure looks better rounded, and unless gettin caught by a fearless move may be the better fighter.

Tyrian Lannister vs. Edson Barbosa sees two more fighters make their SyFi debut thsi weekend, and is Torcida vet vs. Island youngster, that promises a good battle, plus look out for unbeaten 4-0 Henry Bickle facing veteran Swagga Beats, in more 145 action.

Odinson Thor: I'm calling my shot in a step up in competition. I have won my last 4 fights in a row. I would love to step in against the unbeaten knockout artist Mosi Kondo. We are both gunslingers. Obviously of different styles. I'm more of a push the action point style fighter and he is a in your face knock you out kind of guy. But I've never been knocked out on the feet. I want to see this fight, my twitter has been buzzing of my fans wanting to see this fight, and I'm sure his fans want to see this fight. So lets see if I can make his 0 go. I just won my fourth consecutive and he doesn't have a fight booked. What does the brass say? Can we get some papers to sign for this?

Corey Smith: Just won another hard fought victory against a tough opponent. From what I have been told this makes me the number one contender for the Light Heavyweight Championship. I look forward this challenge and have just signed a very juicy new contract with SyFi. i want to thank Dai Zexi for pushing me to overcome the challenge he brought to the table, my management and training team, and last but certainly not least, my fans. I couldn't do it without the fans screaming my name. Thank you all

Weekend Preview

The Big one is in front of us, after being in business for over half a year, SyFi has experimented with PPV, seen some glorious Champs being Koed, struggled with the times of others, and made some big bang cards. Now SyFi 100 is here, get ready for a monstrous event featuring the 265 and the 205 title on the Line featured on a TV near you....available on PPV......

To get ready for it on Friday SyFi 99 will already feature interesting challengers, while SyFi 101 on Sunday will flip it out.

But let's focus on the big One:

SyFi 100 – Saturday, 8th September

265 Title:

Milton Friedman v Santu Avisu Kona

2 fighters that couldn't be much more different, Milton Friedman (12-3) is the undisputed SyFi Heavyweight Champion, and a ground and Pound fighter by design, his strength clearly is the takedown and hit move. He shocked everyone in the Sydney Fight world, when he beat Rick Piano by KO 3 weeks ago. Piano, who everyone thought was centered in this event, was taken down multiple times, and never got the fight going. Friedman took him by storm. Let's see how Kona will react to this, Santu Avisu Kona (9-1) is a stand up Lion by Design, he has no weakness as long as he keeps it upright, but all his preparation was centered to face Piano for a 2nd time, the man that beat him. Now he has to think , how he can keep the fight upright with Friedman, something he didn't have to worry, when beating SyFi top dogs, Dillon, Fujimoto and recently Barkley. Now all he has to worry about is Friedman, folks, wait till the lights go on Saturday, and this one will bang away......

205 title:

Melvin Comeau v Mister McNasty

Other to that the meeting of Comeau and McNasty will be the test of well known enemies. This 205 title fight will make it a trilogy, and it was already 10 spectacular rounds between the two. Comeau (14-4) is a well rounded veteran warrior, and other than the first fight with McNasty he just slashed through SyFi competiton. He defended the belt succesful for the first time recently against Marky Mark, a fight where he dominated in the standup and showed no lack of Power with a 2nd Round KO. McNasty recently beat Jamison Cassidy by a first Round TKO, to prep for this fight, where he wants his belt back. Looking back at the two fighters previous fights, it was clear, that McNasty was destined to get the damage done in the clinch, and had a strategy for it in the first fight, where Comeau won the first 3 rounds, before McNasty made him pay, and opened a deep cut.

In the rematch things developed different, Comeau kept McNasty at distance for most of the time, and the damage by McNasty was far less, so let's see how this trilogy will go, and who learnt more from the first two.

Set with this, all other fights just look like cheap warmups, oh wait we have some biggies coming in, at 265+ Massive Overflow makes his SyFi debut, former CCF Heavyweight Champ and unbeaten in 3 fights at Torcida, Overflow goes up to the biggies and want to challenge for the title, in his way Ole Anderson , brother of long time SFC champ is a veteran that always is dangerous on the ground.

At 265 Dean Malenko comes in on a 3 fight win streak from Torcida, another SyFi debutant, he'll dace SyFi veteran Angel Childress, who at 6-3 just stopped a 2 fight loss streak, and wants to work his way back.

At 185 Johnny Truth comes in from the Island and faces SyFi veteran Wagner Resende, while at 145 another Torcida refugee opens his SyFi career, when Mickey Munday faces John Mills, having won his first two at SyFi.

To add to that 4 more undercard bouts are featured.

As the weekend nears also SyFi 99 and SyFi 101 are good netted, look for Fridays Main Event sees Vick Venom (10-1) make his SyFi debut, he was the Torcida 265 and 265+ champ, and returns to the Super Heavys, where he'll face unbeaten SyFi veteran 8-0 Jason Harris, who seems to be such a dominant feature in the stand up, that his way to the top is like a cinderella story, as he didn't become a proffesional before the age of 25.

The Co Main Event on Friday sees 2 former Island fighters at 145, Ruben Nevez faces Chief Cheyenne, this makes it a trilogy between the 2, while Nevez lost both fights for the IXF title, Cheyenne was a Island standout, and was unbeaten until Round 3 of the final Tournament, now let's see, if he can make it to the top here.

Also watch for 185 unbeaten star Michel Collucci trying to keep his streak going.

On Sunday, the Light Heavys will be featured, former Challenger Marky Mark will face Jamison Cassidy, who recently lost for the first time, and while Comeau and McNasty face each other for the title, the fighters that got their L to them will face on Sunday.

In the CO-Main Heimo Vesa, who struggled at SFC opposition trys to get it back going, when facing former Island Fighter KruKru Tiptapa, who brings perhaps one of the funniest names, but need to proove his strength in the cage now.

Also at 185 Bann Harrow will face Ibrahim Camara, in a huge battle of recent winners, that want to keep their streak going. Other interesting fighters include Bull Mfer at 185, a super talent, and former Torcida 155 Champ Kevin Coburn.

So look out for a big fight weekend, that may bring the best to the Top in Sydney.

Ibrahim Camara: 3 in a row baby :) Let's see who do we have in front. Oh it's the champ. You gave the first L to my cousin Damatang AND my fucking brother Azizi. This is very very serious thing in Afrika, we don't tolerate this bullshiit !

Corey Smith Jr.: Can Crusher!?! What an asshat you are. That is more of an insult to all the fighters I have faced than it is to me, but you are, as usual, wrong. One of those fighters, by the way, was your cousin, Damatang, whom I destroyed in under two and a half minutes. Another was unbeaten prospect, Kazuma Kuwabara. You think he was a can? You homophobic piece of shit! He would destroy you. There was also Heimo Vesa and Dai Zexi, both of whom were quality opponents that you wouldn't last a round against, but I beat them. I honestly don't care what you say. You are a proven liar, and a complete tool that cannot even read, so I need not trouble myself over your ridiculous comments and insults directed at my opponents. So keep running your mouth. When you become relevant, then I'll knock you out and shut that big trap of yours.

Ibrahim "The Marauder" Camara (324523): I wouldn't last a round? Can Crusher , you wouldn't even qualify to the Legends tournament.

Now to the matter at hand.. I'm higher ranked than you so you better axe yourself what is relevant in your stupid coward definitions? Maybe I should speak to you in CAN language so you understand..
