One thing to do is, don't color the whole skin area with all the layers, just use a soft brush and color the darker spots with it, and then color the lighter areas with different shade and/or layer type. Always pick the color from the face pic. Or, color the whole skin area, and then use eraser on the layer to soft it out, and to make to more lively. Multiply is great, I've found. And always play around with the capacity of the layers, and the order too. One thing to try out also is, strip the colors from the original skin and then use the colors from the face to recolor it. Using many different layers of course. Tats are best done with multiply usually. Or burn in some cases. Use the lasso tool to select the skin. Make a one pixel wide black border around the whole picture, borders make everything look better.
