Ok ive seen abit of talk lately about lack of public gyms so as i have access to a private gym for my prospects(cheers julius) i dont own a company but was putting this out there to get a understanding of how much would a public gym cost, if its doable ill open one for the masses. Me myself ive always just thrown my FAs ive picked up into public gyms.

It really depends on what you are eyeballing. If you also offer intermediate coaches, especially since you maybe want to cater to newer players/fighters anyway, that can bring the median price for the coaching (your number one concern by far) dramatically down. But you always see what the coaches would cost before "creating" them anyway. So you can easily do the math. Best make up your mind, what price range you want to cater to (for example a weekly fee of 400 to 600 dollars). Currently there are MANY markets, that could do with more affordable training. In most places public gyms cost 750 dollars plus. So there is definetely a need for that. Tokyo has far too few gyms and the only decent/lively one is 1000 a week. Sydney appears to lose two of it's three gyms soon and Rio is a good but also an expensive place to train. Just to give you a few ideas.

Also, you can build it up modular. Just start with two very good fitness coaches. And maybe one decent striking coach and one decent grappling coach, offer that for somewhere around the 250 to 400 bucks price tag (adapt capacity accordingly) and already you are far better than Cozad and will get in the win zone with ease. And then take it from there.

Top tip: Scout upcoming QFC fights in your area and contact the players. Let them know that Cozad is a waste of time and that a far better, albeit still affordable alternative, is in town. That's what I did in Montreal and it definetely paid dividends.

Full elite coaches gym would cost around 30k per week to run (a little less actually), so public gym with at least 30 fighters at 1000$ a week would allow the gym to finance itself.

The problem is that the point of making a public gym is for noobies. Noobies cannot afford $1000/week and at 30+ fighters the gym will be over crowded. Getting at best 2-1 training. Now for a noobie that is not bad at all. But what needs to happen for a public gym for noobies is to not have all the coaches be Elite or Double Elite. Wonderful coaches will do just fine for noobs in a public gym. A single Wonderful coach costs I think $1710/week. Double that for Double Wonderful and for the clinchwork coach, you could get away with say Wonderful/Wonderful/Superb and it would be around $3730/week. Fitness coaches only need single Wonderful and you need 13-14 coaches to cover all skills. Maybe can get away with 12 coaches if you don't have them teach just one skill all week. So looking at an average cost across the board for the gym of (very roughly) $ 28280 for twelve coaches. Some of these coaches are doubling up on skills; Elbows and Knees for example. Add in cleaning costs of $12 per member which will come out to $360 for 30 fighters.

Even with those low numbers you would still need to have the fees set to $1000 to break even. Well... you will make about $700 per week with these numbers. Roughly. So, again the problem with public gyms is that you have to choose between making profit or offering decent training. And decent training isn't even possible for this gym. It's still 3-1 training which sucks. Furthermore, you're price point is still way up there. So, still out of reach for a noob.

To get the price point down to around $500 you need to double the number of fighters and then you only make about $300 profit. The gym situation really needs worked on.

Coaches with wonderful skills become inefficient way too early.

True. They are only good up to about Superb then they drop off sharply. But for noobies they are still decent. A couch only has to be 20% better then the student to give full benefits as of the last training changes a few years ago.

Problem is there is not really any middle of the road when it comes to training. Either you have 1-1 training with Elite coaches and train beasts, or you don't and you have mediocre fighters

It really needs to be addressed in some way and since it does not seem likely that Mike will change it any time soon then we, the community, need to attempt to do something about making it better for noobies. Because retaining them and having them recruit their friends is really the only way this game stays around in the long run.

As sad as this is, several have opened public or private gyms for a limited number of noobs to have a place to train at in the past and it usually fails.

Even with doing a private and setting fee's really low like a 100.00 a week and just eating the huge loss (funded by vets like the noob fund), you run into the problem with session sizes. You always end up with guys that don't pay attention, don't listen, or don't care and you end up with 5 people using a coach which completely negates the purpose of a private gym. You might get 2 or 3 players that really try to get 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 sessions and they set training to find during the week 3 more people joined the session and they still got crap training.

This was always a problem with non VIP because they can't see the number of people using the coaches, I honestly don't remember if that is now changed and they can see it or not.

Lets also face that the whole gym deal is what causes 90% of the multi accounts. If training was the same for everyone, then there would be no need for a private gym thus no need to have 1 account for a business to make money with and another to hold the private gym that loses 200K a month.

Exactly why all VIP managers should have a gym by default instead of having to use a business slot.

Yup... Totally agree. It's what tempts me to do the same. I don't but I am tempted to do so.

This would be a better solution then two businesses (although effectively it is two businesses, it just makes them have a private gym and then a real business), and, ultimately, my reasoning for having voted yes in favor of two businesses. I think this would, in fact be a better solution then trying to make sure they aren't networking with each other and so on. It is an idea that I have tossed about before and was thinking about writing up a proposal to send to Mike. Maybe I still will.

The idea of 2 businesses wouldn't really work anyways, this is why I think just a gym + 1 business makes the most sense. There's already not enough managers + fighters to support double the companies that the game already has. I don't know what's the status or Nutrition companies, but I feel like clothing is already doing well, and orgs keep opening and closing from left and right, and you don't really see fighters out of work.

Yep... I might go change my vote. This is pretty much what I envisioned when I voted anyway. I am already the co-owner of an org and while it might be kinda nice to open my own org and maybe make some money or whatever, I am not willing to close my gym which gives me the training i need for my fighters. So, truth be told... I would open a public gym or possibly a semi-private gym for VIPs only, if this were implemented. I think you, and others that have pointed out the cons of two businesses are correct and it would make more problems then it solved.

Exactly! Orgs. are the most tempting, but also very high maintenance. People have all sorts of ideas or a desire to run an org. and then burn themselves out on it. This happens already rather frequently, as is. Two business slots would only emphasize that.
