MMATycoon
"UFC 95 drew a crowd of 13,268, with a live gate of just over $1m" From http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/homespor...il/article.html That works out at an average income per ticket of £51. When the cheapest ticket is £45, that means they papered an incredible amount of tickets, considering the prices went (roughly), £50, £75, £150, £250, £500 or something like that. I just hope that the UFC realise it's because the main event was Fight Night quality, rather than because we've had enough of UFC in this country or can't afford it in the recession. Guest
its funny because they make such an effort to put all these uk fighters on their cards, but they need to put the hype on there too. If you cant put a title fight on a card then you need to put a highly anticipated, big hype fight on there. The two co-main events were good, but neither was main event material
MMATycoon
I actually think they would have done better trying to market the Gouveia vs Marquardt fight. I really didn't care one bit about the main event. Both fighters have clearly displayed what sort of level they are at and I personally don't see either advancing past that level. What's more, they're NOT the type of fighters that appeal to the UK fans, being largely wrestlers, when the UK is a striking nation. Marquardt on the otherhand is a legit top level fighter. If they made more clearcut rankings, he could be marketed better. Everything that the UFC does in terms of rankings is so wishy washy though, which makes the fans' response equally wishy washy to matchups like those on UFC 95.
