VIP 18: Super Saturday's Co-Main event was the 185lbs title fight between Liam O'Connor (4-0) and Brandon Dimarco (3-1). Brandon Dimarco was on a 3 fight winning streak and was confident about his chances against Liam O'Connor. Whilst it was clear that Liam definitely had an advantage when you compare their Boxing and BJJ skills, it could be argued that based on Brandon's previous fights, he had an advantage in the Wrestling and Muay Thai side of MMA.

Liam came out and clearly his game plan was to get this down to the ground. He got a clinch and immediately tried pulling guard. He was unsuccessful with his first 2 attempts to pull guard with Brandon successfully avoiding being brought down to the ground. Brandon landed a couple of punches but none of them seemed to do any real damage to Liam.

It only took one punch from Liam O'Connor to open up a cut on Brandon Dimarco's face and things went quickly from bad to worse for him, Liam got Brandon into the clinch and got what he wanted - the fight to the ground. It was surprising how fast the fight ended after the fight went to the ground because straight after pulling guard, Liam locked up a Triangle forcing Brandon to tap out.

Liam O'Connor now has a record of 5-0 while Brandon Dimarco now has a record of 3-2. It's Liam's 4th submission win of his career, 5th win in a row and his 3rd straight title defence.

Reporter: First of all Liam, congratulations on securing your 5th win in a row and retaining your title. How you feelin'?

LOC: Well ye know it's good having all that hard work pay off. It's great to still have the belt around my waist and I no plans in letting it go.

Reporter: We've heard from our sources that apparently young MMA prospect Praying Mantis (4-0) has called you out. What have you got to say about that?

LOC: I'm surprised he's actually called me out, like he's what, 17? 18? So respect to him, he's brave. At the end of the day, I'm a VIP Fight! fighter, he's a Utopia fighter. There's nothing much I can do, it's really down to the two org owners to negotiate a deal and if a deal can be sorted perhaps he could challenge me in the future.

Reporter: But he's the Utopia 185lbs title holder!!!

LOC: And I'm the VIP Fight! 185lbs title holder. VIP Fight! is the number 1 org on The Island and for me to prove I'm the best I have to be fighting at the top org and I already am and I have no intention of moving. Like I said, it's out of my hands.

I also think it'd be a bit unfair for any of the fighters currently at VIP Fight! who have fought their way up the rankings so they could fight me, if Praying Mantis transferred over and got a title shot. The kid's got a lot to learn and there's quite a few fighters ahead of him in the rankings, so if he can beat them, then he deserves a title shot, that's my opinion. Perhaps Justin James has a different opinion.

Reporter: So who are you fighting next? Has the next fight been finalised??

LOC: I'm fighting... Na I'm just messin! I actually haven't signed the next fight. I know Justin James has an opponent in mind for me so we'll have a talk about it and take it from there.

Reporter: Thanks for your time Liam!

LOC: Thanks

Reporter: So there you have it, if there's going to be a fight between Praying Mantis and Liam O'Connor, it's going to have to go through the VIP Fight! boss Justin James first. Who will Liam O'Connor be fighting next? Find out in our next update!

VIP 23: O'Connor vs Almeida

Liam O'Connor (5-0) is back in action on the 15th at VIP 23: O'Connor vs Almedia. The 26 year old Irish fighter is in the Main Event fighting the Brazilian - George Barbosa Almeida (3-0).

Almeida comes into this fight on a 3 win streak fighting at local shows on The Island and some might have been surprised to see someone coming into VIP Fights! getting a title shot straight away, but if you have seen some of the fights Almeida has been in so far, it's easy to see why he's getting a title shot.

Every single fight Almeida has been in so far, he's won by KO/TKO. In his first two fights, he ended them in the 1st round and in his most recent one, he ended it in the 2nd. I've heard a lot of people saying that Almeida is the more skillful boxer and think that he's going to be the one to stop Liam O'Connor's 5 win streak and take the VIP Fights! Middleweight title.

Though having looked back at Almeida's fights, he seems to like getting into a clinch which is exactly what Liam O'Connor has done on so many occasions to set up a submission and win the fight by submission. Will Almeida risk going into the clinch with O'Connor? Will he stay on the outside and try to clip him and get the KO win? Will Liam O'Connor surprise us all and out box someone who many believe is better at boxing than him? Or will the fan favourite do what he does best and get another submission win?

All those questions will be answered on the 15th September at VIP 23: O'Connor vs Almeida and this is one fight you can't afford to miss!

The Winning Streak Continues For Liam O'Connor!

The Main Event of VIP 23: O'Connor vs Almeida was seen by nearly a packed out arena at Hayashi's Lounge. Many thought that Almeida would have been a great test for O'Connor because of Almeida's great boxing skill but Liam O'Connor managed to add another name to that list of people who he has submitted in his MMA career.

Liam O'Connor came out with a gameplan, come out, clinch, pull guard and get the submission. If you look at his previous fights, he's been highly successful with this gameplan. It took him a while before he managed to get a clinch and it was soon over once he got a hold of Almeida.

George Barbosa Almedia was impressive in this short fight, he showed that he definitely has great hands as he quickly opened up a cut on Liam O'Connor. He only landed 2 punches with one of these opening up a cut. He was doing well avoiding clinching up with Liam but eventually he got a hold of him and wouldn't let go until Almeida started tapping.

I guess a lot of MMA fans are left wondering - what would have happened if Almeida would have connected with more of his punches, would he have knocked out Liam O'Connor? Would the fight have been stopped later in the fight had he connected with more of those punches? The only way we'd find out the answer to those questions is if they ever have a rematch in the future. If Almeida goes on a winning streak, perhaps we could see these 2 fight once more in the future and maybe we'll have our questions answered.

Liam O'Connor has quickly made a name for himself on The Island, he's fought lots of high calibre fighters and the big question is - how long can this winning streak go on for?

VIP 27: O'Connor vs Goatboy

We've got another Middleweight title fight lined up at VIP 27, this time between Liam O'Connor (6-0)and Pan Goatboy (4-0). Pan Goatboy is an experienced fighter having fought twice at Palmleaf Brawlers and twice at VIP Fights! He's been impressive in all of his fights and it's no surprise that he's getting a title shot because in both of his fights at VIP Fights! he's won by KO inside the first round.

Goatboy has great boxing skills which he has shown off in his past fights. He knows how to do a lot of damage with his fists and will be looking to add another KO win to his record. He will need to be careful because O'Connor seems to be a submission specialist, with 5 wins out of his 6 coming by way of submission.

O'Connor will be doing what he always does, trying to get a hold of his opponent, drag him down to the ground and get the submission. It would be a risky move to try and out strike Goatboy because he is clearly the better stand up fighter, so I expect him to come out with his usual gameplan.

Both of these fighters have flawless MMA records but for one of these fighters, that's about to change as they're going to receive their first loss of their MMA career... question is which fighter?

Great win mate :)

I think I am going to go create a thread now about how the game is broken and it's all bullshit that your rubbish wrestler managed to take mine down on the first attempt via counter. Then I am going to have a crank, using my own tears as lube.

Or not :P I look forward to your destruction in the inevitable rematch!

Who said anything about Liam O'Connor countering? :shades:

Think Goatboy needs to pick up a couple of wins before we'll talk about any chance of a rematch. Though if you want, Liam O'Connor says he could send over a couple of goodies with autographs on them... ;)

you did great with this guy. I think we have never had a reality show on a fighter before

Did great? Mentor you're saying it as if it's in the past, he's still kicking ass ^_^ Not sure if I'd call this thread a reality show, just really an update thread about his career. Don't think many managers have done this for their fighters in the past.

7 Wins In A Row For Liam O'Connor!

It seemed like we were watching a repeat of his last fight as Liam O'Connor did the exact same thing again at VIP 27: O'Connor vs Goatboy. In his previous fight at VIP 23: O'Connor vs Almeida, Liam O'Connor forced Almedia to tap just before 2 mins into the fight and in his fight against Goatboy, he got him to tap at the exact same time. I'm not 100% if I know many fighters who have got a submission at the exact same time in 2 successive fights.

Goatboy was successful with his punches landing all 3 of them before O'Connor got a hold of him and then O'Connor did his thing and forced Goatboy to tap out less than 2 min into the fight. This is the second fight in a row where O'Connor ended up with a cut and the cut happened quite early into the fight so perhaps he has a weakness here?

If O'Connor does cut easily then that clearly is a weakness for him but most of his fights don't last long because he's usually pretty quick in getting his opponent to tap out. It would be very interesting to see what would happen if the fight would last longer because if he kept getting hit where his cut is the fight could be stopped because of it or it may affect his performance.

Liam O'Connor (7-0) is now ranked #3 on The Island p4p list and will be hoping to claim that #1 spot in the near future. If you're wondering who he's fighting next, be sure to keep an eye out here for the latest news.

VIP 30: O'Connor vs Bureta

Liam O'Connor (7-0) will be defending his VIP Fights! Middleweight Title for the 6th time at VIP 30. He's due to fight against Samoan MMA fighter Kelemi Bureta (5-1) who currently has a 3 fight win streak at VIP Fights!

This is an interesting match up. Liam O'Connor has the better Boxing and BJJ skills whereas Kelemi Bureta has the better Muay Thai and Wrestling skills. Bureta showed off his Muay Thai skills in his last fight when he delivered a head kick to former Middleweight title challenger Brandon Dimarco (3-4) which KO'd him. Sadly that was Brandon Dimarco's last fight before he announced his retirement.

We know Liam O'Connor loves to use the clinch to pull his opponents into his guard and then secure a submission, so it'll be interesting to see whether or not he'll be successful in doing that against Bureta who has the better Muay Thai skills and could maybe have better clinch skills.

Liam O'Connor has shown off his boxing skills in one of his previous fights so maybe he'll come out looking to box instead of his usual gameplan?

Will Bureta be able to land one of his head kicks and KO Liam O'Connor? Or will Liam O'Connor remain undefeated? Find out at VIP 30!

VIP 30 Results: O'Connor Forces Bureta To Tap

Liam O'Connor added a 7th name to the list of MMA fighters he has submitted in his MMA Career at VIP 30, this time it was Kelemi Bureta (5-2) who was tapping. He was going into this fight as the favourite though many expected the fight to be a bit more of a challenge for Liam O'Connor due to Bureta's good Muay Thai skills. Bureta did what not many fighters have managed to do against Liam O'Connor and that was getting past round 1 without tapping out. The only 2 others that have done this is Zarrick "Z Man" Nelson (4-2) who was TKO'd by Liam O'Connor in the 2nd round during their fight and Luke Marshall (4-6) who was submitted in round 2 when they fought.

What happened on Saturday night was a bit unusual and those watching must have been a bit confused by what exactly Liam O'Connor was trying to do because in round 1 he managed to get a clinch early in the fight but then broke out of the clinch instead of just trying to get Kelemi Bureta down in his guard ASAP. He did this a couple of times during his fight, perhaps he was wanting to confuse Bureta so he didn't know what he was going to do next. Bureta managed to avoid the clinch a couple of times and kept Liam O'Connor away from him with a couple of nice kicks.

Towards the end of the round is when Liam O'Connor scored the most points in that round, he got the clinch and controlled the fight and kept the fight where he wanted it. With less than a minute to go he managed to pull guard though ran out of time before he could attempt a submission.

The second round arrived and it really looked like Liam O'Connor was wanting to do the business in that round because he came out, got the clinch quite quickly, pulled guard and shortly after pulling guard he managed to lock in an armbar when Kelemi Bureta was trying to stand up, forcing him to tap out, giving Liam O'Connor his 8th MMA win and meaning that he remained undefeated.

VIP 34: O'Connor vs Castaway

The main even of VIP 34 has been announced: Liam O'Connor (8-0) vs The Castaway (7-1). This will be Liam O'Connor's biggest challenge to date as he's going up against a former title holder in The Castaway.

The Castaway won his first fight at VIP Fights! which was a title fight in the Welterweight division in convincing fashion landing nearly every single of his punches thrown while his opponent landed none. His opponent Tapsumaneyi Moyo (7-3) did manage to successfully take The Castaway down 3 times before The Castaway TKO'd him in the 2nd round.

Unfortunately for The Castaway, he was unable to defend his title in his fight against Diego Rodriguez (7-1) and lost by decision. Since then The Castaway went on to win 2 more fights at 170 before moving up to 185 to try and win the title from Middleweight champ Liam O'Connor. In his first fight at 185 he fought former title challenger George Barbosa Almedia (4-2) and finished him in the second round by KO.

Liam O'Connor will be looking to be the first man to finish The Castaway as he's never been stopped in all of his 8 fights. I don't think this fight will last the full 5 rounds and so expect to see someone KO'd or submitted during the fight.

Liam O'Connor has the better Muay Thai skills and has showed off his Muay Thai skills in basically every fight he's been in as he usually goes for the clinch then gets the submission soon after. The Castaway has shown in his fights that he's got a lot of power in his hands with 6 of his 7 wins coming by way of KO/TKO.

Will The Castaway win another VIP Fight! title, this time in the 185 division? Or will Liam O'Connor defend his title for a 7th time? Find out on Saturday 12th October at VIP 34!

VIP 34 Results: O'Connor loses title

"Lucky" Liam O'Connor

26 years old

The fight didn't go according to plan at VIP 34 for Liam O'Connor (8-1) as he received his first loss in his pro MMA career and lost his VIP Fight! title. Liam O'Connor had the same gameplan as previous fights, get the clinch, pull guard, make the opponent tap out but that game plan didn't work against The Castaway (8-1).

Despite throwing a total of 84 punches, The Castaway failed to land less than half of his punches. Though Liam O'Connor didn't offer much in terms of offence during the fight as it seemed like he only was searching for the clinch. The Castaway did a great job in defending against the takedown as Liam O'Connor went for 24 takedowns and only managed to successfully complete 2 of those takedowns.

"Firstly I want to apologise to the fans. I went in there and I had the wrong gameplan. It was clear that my usual gameplan was not working and so I'm disappointed by my performance. If I'm honest, it was a struggle to get motivated for this fight as I had found it so easy in my previous fights.

I'm going to take some time off but I'll be back, stronger than ever and then I'll be coming back for my title."

It looks like Liam O'Connor will be taking some time off from fighting and judging by this performance, he really has to improve if he is to win back his Middleweight title. Has Liam O'Connor's luck ran out? Or will he come back bigger and stronger than ever?

The current Middleweight and former Welterweight VIP champion had this to say following his five round destruction of "Lucky" Liam O'Connor

"This fight went exactly how I thought it would go. Liam only got lucky fighting cans during his MMA career and once he faced a true challenger his luck ran out. Basically my gameplan was to punish him everytime he tried to clinch, which was about every three seconds. After twenty two failed takedown attempts he managed to pull me down twice but he forgot that my BJJ is equal to his and my wrestling is better so during the brief time on the ground I put a beating on him. I wish i would have worked my ground and pound game more as I landed both strikes I threw.and felt very comfortable on the ground.Liam tried his one trick to win it but it was too late and he was to tired to mount any meaningful offense. Liam is always telling everyone about how they need a few wins to face him again so hopefully he can find it in him to rebound from this total annihilation and EARN a rematch someday so I can finish him. I was definitely impressed how many shots he could take so I gotta give credit where its due. I heard there is supposed to be a tournament for the island champions and I look forward to beating them aswell. I'm the the true King of the island and I'm calling out anyone who says otherwise. I have the best chin on this rock and I'm not afraid to fight my opponents in there comfort zone. Both titles I've won have come from undefeated champions. I heard moyo can't even win two fights straight after I layed out a solid gameplan to defeat him and I believe I just did the same with O'Connor. I'm going to go snort some cocaine now since its so cheap on this island. Mr Liam goodluck in your future fights and next time please bring a gameplan that doesn't involve boring the fans with an attempted clinchfest. Also big thanks to THE PIT for helping me train and build a gameplan to win this fight. Also thanks to VIP fights for giving me a easy title win, I can only repay you by giving you guys great fights and taking on anyone standing in my way. Thx to everyone who cheered me to beat this whiskey drinking clown. I'm done with this interview now so go fuck yourself."

Mr Castaway then punched out a cameraman and stuck his hand down out female producers pants which was greeted by a warm smile and wet fingers

I heard that Mr. Champion already called VIP management and asked for a title defense. Apparently the name goatboy got brought up and both sides thought it would be a marketable fight that castaway would win and it would set up the epic battle of strength and wit everyone has been drooling over. What's the match up you ask?People want to see Goatboy play fingerbang with his own mother of course!! Headlined by Liam Oconnor getting schooled again by the champ.

Castaway had this to say about the possible matchup "Goatboy is my bitch. Plain and simple. If K - rad is so desperate for a title fight these days that hell sacrifice a fighter then let him have it. I won't be held responsible for what happens..."

"Of course people would rather see Goatboy finger banging with his mother rather than watch the Castaway lemon party with his two fathers. I hear that's how he worked on his takedown defense from the clinch, by playing hard to get with two old men with false teeth.

Goatboy is here to please you. You two ladies are welcome to rematch, I don't care, I'll be fighting one or both of you soon enough and I'll use your tears as lube for the 5 round reaming you'll suffer at the hands of "Randy" Pan. "

"Listen, I really couldn't give a shit what The Castaway is saying. He's got a big mouth, always has, always will. He can smack talk all he wants but it'll just make him look like a bigger eejit once he's defeated in our eventual rematch.

It's hard to stay motivated when you're at the top. 8 wins in a row, 6 title defences, I was clearing out the Middleweight division and when you're not motivated, it's a lot harder to prepare for upcoming fights. I was going in there thinking it'd just be another every day fight, I'd clinch, pull guard and get The Castaway to tap, unfortunately that wasn't the case and I paid the price for being complacent.

I'm not sure why The Castaway thinks he's the best fighter on The Island, he's won 2 titles in 2 different weight classes, yes, that is correct but how many defences has he had? Ziltch. None. Zero. He should concentrate on defending his title before he starts trying to big himself up as the #1 fighter on The Island.

As for Pan Goatboy, the guy impresses me and I don't think I'm the only person he impresses. I'm the only fighter he hasn't beat and I'm sure he's still looking for a rematch sometime in the future. He's had 2 straight wins since our fight and I think he deserves his shot at the title again.

As for myself, like I said post-fight, I'm taking some time off, going to train for a couple of weeks and I'll contact Anderson Caldwell (VIP Fight! Owner) about getting a fight sorted once I feel I'm ready."
