*T118* - Celtic Christmas

"Lucky" Liam O'Connor James "Sully" McGuiness

The MMA Tycoon world have been given a Christmas present by the Troid EP management team. Two ex-Island Irish legends are due to step into that steel cage for the very last time. Only one will emerge victorious in this epic last fight for both of these warriors. Both fighters captured the hearts of MMA fans across the globe by putting on a show every time they stepped into the cage. One the one hand you have the submission specialist in "Lucky" Liam O'Connor (15-7) and on the other hand you have the KO artist in James "Sully" McGuiness (16-13-1). The classic battle between grappler and boxer is set to go down in this mouth watering fight.

Liam O'Connor comes into this fight off the back of a TKO loss to former Troid EP Middleweight title holder Ilya Mstislav Volkov (13-3). Though the fight didn't go the way he wanted, he surprised a lot of MMA fans by managing to get the fight where he wanted, on to the ground. Unfortunately for Liam O'Connor and his fans, Ilya was more than comfortable to be on the ground and was well aware of Liam's dangerous ground game. Ilya managed to avoid the submissions and counter them with some dangerous ground and pound, opening up a nasty cut on Liam's face. With the blood pouring down Liam's face, the doctor was asked to inspect the cut and deemed it too bad for Liam O'Connor to continue. Liam O'Connor's last chance of winning a title in his career had gone. Post-fight, Liam spoke of the pains he has recently been facing as a result of his 10 year fight career and hinted that his time in MMA was drawing to a close.

James "Sully" McGuiness, perhaps famously known for being owner of Sully's Bar & Grill or the face of the KT revolution, is the fighter who will be standing across the cage from Liam O'Connor. James is coming off the back of a KT fight where he suffered a TKO loss against Welterweight KT sensation Bryant Baez (11-3-1). He was the main event in a card hosted by the #1 KT organisation EFFA. At 28 years of age, James is 7 years younger than Liam O'Connor but despite this has competed in 8 more fights and has the experience of competing not just in MMA but also in KT. He is said to be retiring to focus his attention full time on helping organise events in the KT scene and to run his bar full time.

Both fighters have a strong following and are loved by the Irish MMA fans. Liam O'Connor has a unique style of fighting which he has perfected, his game plan is to get the fight to the clinch, pull guard and then secure the submission, a game plan which has seen him rack up an impressive 12 submissions and he has never been submitted in his 22 fight career. James McGuiness on the other hand has a KO or be KO'd attitude which has seen him win all of his fights bar one by (T)KO. While we're saddened to see the end of the career of two legendary ex-Island fighters, this is one fight to mark down on your calender and I know a lot of people will be looking forward to this Christmas present come Christmas day!

"You know I have a lot of respect for James and what he's done and I felt that this fight would be the perfect way for me to go out. Two big personalities from the MMA Tycoon going head to head. Both of us being ex-Island fighters. It's going to be weird fighting another guy who had fought on The Island and if you look at the list of guys I've fought, my last 8 fights have been guys who never experienced what it was like being on that Island.

People can say all they want about me and Sully, if they don't think we're legends, who cares! I earned the respect of MMA fans throughout the world not just for my performance on The Island but also off The Island. I think I'm the only ex-Island fighter to go on to challenge for a title in an org outside of The Island, well apart from Highland Games which is the home of ex-Island fighters.

I guess with only a couple of days left until this fight, it's really hit me now... I'm retiring. What the fuck am I going to do when I retire? Sully has a bar and I haven't really thought about what I'm going to do. I guess I'll have to sit down after this fight is over and think about what I want to do next. Well maybe not immediately after the fight as I might have a pretty bad headache for a couple of days.

I really hope this last fight is one which will be remembered by MMA Tycoon fans. "Remember those two ex-Island Irish boyos who had that deadly retirement fight, aye wasn't that just lethal?" Hearing people say something like that would be pretty damn good. I might be retiring from professional MMA but hopefully the memories of my fights will live on.

I'm looking forward to stepping into that Troid EP cage one final time. VIP! Fights might have been known as my Island home and Troid EP will definitely be known as my home post The Island. It's been one hell of a ride during my time here at Troid EP, I never dreamed in a million years that I would have rose up the rankings like I did and challenge for a title fight. It was an amazing experience and I'm forever grateful for having been given the opportunity.

Grant / Ryan, get that Of The Night prize money ready! This last fight is either going to end up with me being KO'd and me winning Fight of the Night or me ripping off Sullys arm or leg and exchanging it for the Submission of the Night bonus! "

*T118* Celtic Christmas preview

MW showdown: Liam O'Connor vs James McGuiness

Woohoo! Guess who are fighting? Two Island fighters that are well-known in Tycooniverse! Liam O'Connor is my favorite fighter who has a cool story and he's former #1 in Island. He has excellent submission skills based on his guard pulling ability. Once he gets the clinch, his opponents know what's next but can never escape. With 12 out of 15 wins by submission, he will be looking to tap James McGuiness out. McGuiness, aka Sully, is an owner of a well-known bar and he has a cool personality too. He is a fearsome striker who has 15 out of 16 wins by (T)KO and he recently having fun in kickboxing matches so I wonder if he could re-adapt fighting in MMA match. McGuiness is a better striker with better power but his ground game is his big hole. Being a blue belt, O'Connor can easily tap him out if he could pull guard and I think he can pull it off. O'Connor has an underrated chin and boxing so I believe his gameplan will work once again.

Prediction: Liam O'Connor wins by first round submission

"Victorio Faber, you the man! You know what's going to happen and I hope you enjoy the fight. It's a honour having one of my fans write the official preview for Troid EP. Just want to wish everyone a Happy Christmas, I'm looking forward to getting stuck into my Turkey and presents after the fight, with my first present hopefully be walking away with the W. An additional present of taking home that submission of the night bonus would also be pretty damn good... hint hint... nudge nudge... ;)

Looking forward to getting in there and putting on a great final show for my fans! Enjoy the fights everyone!

Win or lose, the after party will be in Sully's Bar & Grill so be sure to head on over there and have some Christmas celebrations!"

"While I didn't get the perfect ending to my career, I still had fun in my last fight and I couldn't have shared the cage with a better person. Sully's a top guy and I wish him all the best with his nutrition business on The Island. With the dust settled following my retirement fight I felt it was time to share my thoughts.

Firstly, I want to personally thank everyone who played a part in my career. I've had a wonderful career and I never dreamt of being as successful as I was (I know some might not feel I was a success but I do!) and I'm extremely proud of what I achieved. Every organisation owner I signed with had treated me wonderfully, even BEEF and Umbrella despite me only in both orgs for 1 fight, I was still treated excellently by all of them. A special thanks to Grant Brophy who gave me a chance to redeem myself and establish myself as a Middleweight MMA fighter in Troid, it's a shame I didn't have a fairytale story and go on and win the title but I sure as hell had fun!

So after the fight against Sully, me and the guys from Team Finland were bummed about the way it finished but we went back to Sully's Bar & Grill, had a couple of beers and then watched our fellow team mate Daniel O'Sullivan later that night go on to beat Idi oCrazy in his org, it was a proud moment for us as a team and honestly I think I was more happy seeing him win that fight than in any of the fights I won. It felt like a light bulb turned on above my head, I had a flash of inspiration and just knew it would be a great idea to start my own gym and after speaking to a couple of my team mates at Team Finland, they suggested rebranding the gym.

Some of the guys couldn't even remember why it was originally called Team Finland! From my knowledge it originated from when a public gym was set up years ago by Mark O'Sullivan in Helsinki but it eventually it went private, moved to London and had been there ever since. So the decision was made, the gym was rebranded and Lucky Liam's MMA Academy was born! I'm proud to be head coach at this gym, we have a champion in Daniel O'Sullivan but he's not the only top fighter in our gym. You may have heard of a couple of the fighters currently training here: ITFL Season 4 HW finale participant Diego Bustamante (14-7), promising Middleweight KT fighter Hadi Ozturk (11-3 KT 0-1 MMA), ITFL Season 3 team winner Raphael Adamson (11-9-1), ITFL Season 2 fighter Peter Taphorn (23-12-1)... these are just a couple of our fighters, feel free to get in touch with myself or the fighters individually if you wish to send them a sponsorship deal. I could never fully step away from MMA and getting the chance to work with fighters and pass on my knowledge on to them and help them in any way I can was something I couldn't refuse.

This was the story of my professional MMA career, it was a hell of a ride and unfortunately it's over now..... but the success story of Lucky Liam's MMA Academy has just begun.

Thanks to everyone who followed me on my journey as a professional MMA fighter. Stay classy!"

CEO

Igor Byhenikov

http://www.jsha.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/press-mics.png

Igor Byhenikov: Some of you remember fight organization called Umbrella Corporation. Most of you know fight organization called Ascension. It's time for a new start. Umbrella Ascension is combination of best sides from both organizations. My first mission is to make it alive, make managers want to be involved.

Tycoon News: Is there any schedule when this transformation happens?

Igor Byhenikov: We are targeting July. What i know is that i want old school Umbrella managers and fighters to be part of the first event. My public wish is that Dr. John Zoidberg and Liam O'Connor still has one fight left in them.

Porttila News: Is there possibility that we see old Umbrella champions fighting in the first event?

Igor Byhenikov: I hope so. I did some research and i see Dennis Page is still alive and his liver still holding. I hope he doesn't drink as much as he used to.

MMAFighting: What do you plan to deliver as a CEO of the organization?

Igor Byhenikov: I'm bringing back media scrums, weekly news and official rankings. I'm also responsible of posters. I'm planning to honor the style of Verbal Kint and Luan Dovik, two of the greatest poster designers in Tycoon history.

Now i have some work to do on creating new design for the organization. We are opening official thread in the fight organizations section soon. I will focus on our current roster in my future posts. All old school managers and fighters who have history with Umbrella, i hope you write something and possibly become part of the new organization. Current managers and fighters, i hope you give us feedback if you have ideas about what would you like to see in the future.

"I have huge respect for Igor and it was a pleasure fighting for his organisation even though it was only for one time. We still talk from time to time but he didn't tell me anything about his plans about going back to the organisation business and so it's a massive surprise to see and even a bigger surprise to see him want me to put on those gloves one more time and fight for his new organisation. I'm delighted to see him back in the org business and have no doubt it'll be a huge success, just hoping he'll be able to send a couple VIP tickets my way ;)

I haven't trained in a long time because all my time these days goes into trying to coach and guide all of the fighters in my gym Lucky Liam's MMA Academy. I'm proud of what I've achieved since working as a coach full-time, I've seen Daniel O'Sullivan (21-11-2), Diego Bustamante (20-8) and Antoni Hong (15-9) go on to win titles since taking over the gym, not to mention Domagoj Glavas (1-0) going off and bringing back the TWGC title. Glavas came to me towards the end of my pro MMA career asking if I'd be interested in guiding him as he was a major fan and that's what I have done. He replicated my style of fighting in his MMA debut and has got a slick arsenal of submissions, much like myself.

Could I return to the cage? Of course, it's a possibility. Will I return to the cage? I'm not sure and cannot give a definite answer right now. I retired under contract to Trinity and if any come back was going to happen, I think I'd need to get in contact with Grant Brophy and see if it'd be possible for me to fight for Igor's new org."
