kenlow73
I just read about this. It's not in the traditional sports trade sense. The deal if for UFC to release Mighty Mouse in order for him to be signed by ONE. ONE in turn would release Ben Askren in order for him to be signed by UFC. PBR
I don't think MM has been happy with the UFC anyway -- very odd trade though
kenlow73
I thought Askren retired? technically. he left the door open for one more fight. He wants to fight GSP and says he is in 2019.
MasterLeader
Good - MM is most overrated fighter in UFC history. Cant believe how many times Joe Rogan said P4P best fighter ever
Mentor
technically. he left the door open for one more fight. He wants to fight GSP and says he is in 2019. I doubt GSP will give him that fight, he is always talking about legacy and shit, so giving a guy who never fought in the UFC will put that legacy under serious threat, it will also make the UFC look more inferior if he comes in for 1 fight, wins and then leaves to retire for good. Most title defenses ever, and only lost a close decision against an Olympic wrestler who he already ko'd.

Definitely 1st place if you're only counting the men (and boys).

Im not saying he wasnt great - what Im saying is hes nowhere near P4P best ever (not even top 10). He also pussied out of fighting Dillashaw or anyone noteworthy.

Obviously MM is a v good fighter but he fought a weak ass division. There is no sugarcoating it. I honestly think if MM stopped being a twat and moved up to fight at 135 a lot of those guys would beat MM. I love Rogan but it did piss me off how much he kept saying how MM was no.1 P4P. Dillashaw would send MM into retirement if they fought, hell he already sent him to Asia without even fighting.

Guest
Honestly can't wait to see what trades this opens up, hoping to mix up the heavyweight roster in the near future.

MasterLeader
Does Ben Askren have the striking ability to compete with beast wrestlers like Usman, Woodley & Covington? Also i feel Lawlers TDD is good enough to keep it on the feet enough to take out Askren. Cant see Askren having much luck tbh.
KalleDerLude
Askren is actually pretty good at slipping punches and getting takedowns off of it. On the ground he is tirelessly working. Be it from his back or on top. I wouldn't get too hung up on him having never fought in the UFC. The UFC's elite status is not as towering as it was. We can thank Reebok for that. Rambo
Anybody hating on DJ.. smh. You must be incompetent athletically and have never engaged in any type of combat activity. DJ was easily in conversation for #1 P4P. When they said Anderson Silva was #1 p4p did you criticize that? Which IMO was way more inflated and padded, perhaps on par with JJ (Sonnen title shot anybody?) and Rhonda. DJ is a beast, and did Cejudo decisively win that rematch and beyond a doubt and with littl controversy in the decision or scoring of the fight? DJ dominated a guy that knocked TJ out cold.
MasterLeader
DJ dominated a guy that knocked TJ out cold. You talking about TJ’s 5th fight back in 2011?
The1rstSaint
Everyone has a right to there opinion i personally think DJ should be acknowledged as the PFP best fighter, well until his loss to Cejuda. Some folks just dont like watching smaller fighters because their endurance tends to make for boring fights but skill wise you can't discredit these guys, The trade for Askren though i see ONE getting the better end of that deal by a mile, Askren is a boring as fuck fighter. Overall i dont see the division closing being a big issue.
