2 (6) (TSD) Markus Haland (2-2, Fin Win 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points 4)

3 (7) (CD) Chrollo Lucifer (2-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 4)

4 (2) (EE) Evil Empire (2-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 3) *Time -00:31

5 (4) (FF) Urho Viikate (2-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 3) *Time -01:25

6 (3) (Her) Sergej Tkach (2-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 3) *Time -14:31

7 (5) (GBU) Randy Rutherford (1-4, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points 1)

(YABAI) Shu Fang Tzeng vs. Sergej Tkach (Heritage)

(Tzeng def. Tkach by Sub (Armbar) at 03:55, Rd 1)

Congratulations must be given to YABAI’s Shu Fang Tzeng as he successfully thwarted the last remaining fighter capable of challenging for the 135lbs division title. A somewhat anti-climactic finish to a seemingly competitive division, Shu Fang Tzeng dominated Heritage team captain Sergej Tkach en route to a first round submission victory.

A solid achievement to win the division title for Shu Fang Tzeng made all the more more impressive by the fact that he has done it with two more rounds to spare. It hasn’t been flawless but it has certainly been a huge help for his alliance who are very likely to be moving on into the tournament play offs. Currently on a three fight winning streak, Tzeng will next face FinnFighters Urho Viitake who possesses many of the same skills and Tzeng himself. This will be a fight to keep an eye on as these two warriors could very well be fated to face each other again in the Play-Off Semi-Final should the standings remain as they are currently.

As for Sergej Tkach, things are shaping up for quite a disappointing end for the Ukrainian fighter. Throwing his hat in the mix early on as a division contender after two victories in a row, Tkach’s fortunes have now swung the other way as he nurses a two fight skid and drops down into a season low of sixth. What’s more is that there have been some alarming rumours and innuendo surrounding Tkach and his manager I’m Lupe. As the story goes, when Tkach signed for his new manager, it was implied that he was one of only three other clients and was given assurances that he could be given all the personal attention that an up and coming competitive athlete would need in a tournament such as this. Now word has spread that his manager may have been operating under different names all over the world and has a client network spanning hundreds, possibly even into the thousands! With no word from either fighter nor manager currently, it could very much turn out that Heritage lose yet another team member and at the very worst possible time as they battle for the fourth and final Play-Off spot. Tkach is slated to face Evil Empire’s Evil Empire next but if he does not sign on the fight within the allotted time frame, it will be an automatic finish loss for him.

(Evil Empire) Evil Empire vs. Markus Haland (The Stepdads)

(Haland def. Empire by KO (Punch) at 02:57, Rd 1)

“Marauding” Markus Haland has definitely been the weakest link in an otherwise all star alliance but he managed to pick up a win here today at the expense of Evil Empire’s Evil Empire to make sure his run so far has at least been middling.

The victory meant a lot especially in terms of group standing with Haland moving up a total of four spots into second from sixth. Of course it is known by now that there is no possible way of catching up with group leader Shu Feng Tzeng however, currently tied with third place Chrollo Lucifer on four points apiece, separated by the fact Haland has one more finish win on his record, there is definitely competition still to be had in the race to finish second and as fate would have it, Haland is slated to meet Lucifer in the very next round. A tricky customer for sure as a ground specialist against a clincher but with Haland’s much more advanced wrestling skills, he just might have enough to keep the fight where he want’s it.

A disappointing performance from Evil Empire who previous to this loss was also mounting an outside challenge for the top spot. His record now drops to 2-2 and his group standing from second to fourth, Empire’s next best opportunity is a second place finish and some much needed points for his struggling alliance. He is scheduled to face Heritage captain Sergej Tkach in the next round but there is a strong possibility that the fight may not happen as Tkach has not been in contact with the tournament for some weeks now.

(Cromulent Doom) Chrollo Lucifer vs. Randy Rutherford (The GBU)

(Lucifer def. Rutherford by Sub (Triangle Choke) at 04:27, Rd 1)

An efficient technical performance from BJJ Brown Belt Chrollo Lucifer (Cromulent Doom) to take out The GBU’s Randy Rutherford with a submission win inside of the first round.

Lucifer made some big moves with this victory moving up out of bottom place all the way up into third and joint with second place Markus Haland for points. Lucifer was never expected to be much of a contender in the group so a second place finish would definitely be exceeding expectations. The three points gained from the fight were also appreciated from his bottom place alliance who still have a very slight chance of making it into the Play-Off Finals. A tough fight for Lucifer coming up next but a fitting one as he faces the man above him in the group, The Stepdads Markus Haland. On the ground there is no question that Lucifer would give him all the trouble he could handle but the biggest problem would be getting it there in the face of Haland’s much better wrestling credentials.

A poor run of results for The GBU’s Randy Rutherford means that he drops down into the bottom of the group. Still, it’s not necessarily the way it has to be and with one fight left, Rutherford could still potentially finish above his predicted last place come the end. He will known more however after the next round of fights from which Rutherford will sit out. Scheduled for his round six bye, Rutherford can begin preparation for his final showdown against The Stepdad’s Markus Haland.

155lbs

1 (2) (YAB) Maximus Furioto (4-1, Fin Win 4, Fin Loss 1 = Points 11)

2 (1) (TSD) Chubby Funster (3-1, Fin Win 3, Dec Loss 1 = Points 9)

3 (3) (FF) Digi Box (3-1, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 7)

4 (5) (GBU) Stig Statham (2-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 3)

5 (6) (EE) Garth Wader (2-3, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 3 = Points 2)

6 (4) (CD) Walter Sobchak (1-3, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 1)

7 (7) (Her) so Bitch (0-4, Fin Loss 4 = Points -4)

(Evil Empire) Garth Wader vs. so Bitch (Heritage)

(Wader def. Bitch by Forfeit)

Nothing much to be said here folks as Heritage’s so Bitch forfeited the bout when he didn’t show up.

I’m sure Evil Empire’s team captain Garth Wader would have preferred to have actually gotten in the cage but points are points and the Evil Empire need them desperately. The win also helped Wader out in the group standings as he is currently scrapping away in the bottom half. Things haven’t gone too well overall for Wader and with one fight left, there really isn’t too much he can do to improve upon his sixth place position. Perhaps at best a mid table finish but what is more important right now are the points from his last remaining fight of the group phase against FinnFighters team captain Digi Box. Currently in third place with a record of 3-1, it’s going to be tough going for Wader to get the victory here.

As for so Bitch, he remains in bottom place and that is very unlikely to change unless he makes a miraculous re-emergence. Bitch is scheduled to face The GBU’s Stig Statham next but Statham may as well make other plans and relax knowing he has a guaranteed three points coming his way.

(The GBU) Stig Statham vs. Chubby Funster (The Stepdads)

(Statham def. Funster by Unanimous Decision)

What a fight folks! The GBU’s completely unfancied Stig Statham defeats The Stepdad’s undefeated Chubby Funster by unanimous decision after three rounds. It was a superb performance from Statham who took his small advantage in the stand up and turned it into a fight winning game plan. A big, big result to unseat Funster at the top and previously something that looked unthinkable.

Unfortunately for Statham and in terms of personal glory, nothing much has changed in the group after such a momentous victory. Without question a major upset, the win was still only worth two points and previously Statham had been wallowing down amongst the lower half of the table. Still, the points were invaluable to his alliance mates who are in contention for the fourth and final play-off spot and Statham can try to build off of this victory from here. He is supposed to fight so Bitch (Heritage) in the next round but Bitch hasn’t been heard from in a while and so it’ll likely be a forfeit win for him.

For Chubby Funster, he will at least have some company amongst his alliance as one of two undefeated fighters to lose their perfect record during this round. The result will no doubt be a disappointing surprise as Funster would have been considered the heavy favourite going in. To make matters worse, Funster also concedes the first place spot to YABAI’s Maximus Furioto although Funster is still a fight behind and a single maximum point victory would put him back ahead. Still, what damage has been done to his confidence at this point? Will he now start to second guess himself or will he get straight back to his winning best? All we can do is wait and see what happens during his next scheduled bout against Cromulent Doom’s Walter Sobchak. Sobchak is a very different fighter to Statham and he actually has a victory over him too. An intriguing showdown that is not to be missed.

(Cromulent Doom) Walter Sobchak vs. Maximus Furioto (YABAI)

(Furioto def. Sobchak by Sub (Armbar) at 02:53, Rd 1)

No major upsets in this one as in form Maximus Furioto of the might YABAI defeated Cromulent Doom’s scrapper Walter Sobchak by submission inside of three minutes and took the number one spot in the group for himself.

Now riding a three fight winning streak, Maximus Furioto has taken big steps in succouring a first place spot for himself in the 155lbs table. Of course, he will still need a little luck somewhere along the line as he is currently one fight ahead of challenger Chubby Funster and one finish win for his rival would put him straight back ahead. Overall though, Furioto’s fate is very much in his own hands as after his sixth round bye coming up next, he has one more fight remaining and that will be against the man himself Stepdads Chubby Funster.

Walter Sobchak drops to 1-3 after the loss and also a couple of spots in the table. From fourth down to sixth. Still, two fights left for him to go and time enough to climb back to around that fourth place spot which wouldn’t be too terrible for someone predicted a bottom place finish. He does have an extremely tough fight coming up however against The Stepdads Chubby Funster who could be either on a rampaging revenge mission to regain first place or a man who simply doesn’t care anymore. Either way, Sobchak will be an extremely big underdog.

170lbs

1 (1) (TSD) Yaurod Atidibil (5-0, Fin Win 3, Dec Win 2 = Points 13)

2 (2) (YAB) Diego Diaz (3-1, Fin Win 3, Dec Loss 1 = Points 9)

3 (4) (FF) Jesse Ristinen (2-2, Fin Win 2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 5)

4 (5) (Her) Kybeau Ren (2-3, Fin Win 2, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 1 = Points 5)

5 (3) (EE) Willy Do (2-2, Fin Win 1, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 3)

6 (6) (CD) Floki Agard (1-3, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 3 = Points -1)

7 (7) (GBU) Quannah Parker (0-4, Fin Loss 4 = Points -4)

(The Stepdads) Yaurod Atidibil vs. Willy Do (Evil Empire)

(Atidibil def. Do by TKO (Strikes) at 01:51, Rd 3)

It was a solid effort on the part of Willy Do (Evil Empire), especially to take the first round but in the end The Stepdads team captain Yaurod Atidibil once again reigned supreme and in doing so remains only one of three fighters now left undefeated in this tournament.

After such an impressive run you would have thought that Atidibil would have the 170lbs Division title sown up but as it happens this is not quite so. In fact, the fates once again see fit to hand us an absolute deciding match up just at the right time as Atidibil now heads into a showdown against his division rival and second place Diego Diaz of YABAI. This will be Atidibils last remaining match up of the group phase and if he can get a win of any kind here he will be declared as group champion. However, if Diaz is able to pull of the upset then he will be placed firmly in control of proceedings and Atidibil will have to wait and see what happens with in the seventh and last round to know his final standing.

For Willy Do, he now drops down from third into fifth and is no longer a concern as to the very top of the table. He could conceivably still fight his way into a second place finish and, in truth, that is exactly the sort of form his alliance needs from him right now as they still fight for an outside hope of making it into the next round. Do faces a tough sixth round match up against FinnFighters Jesse Ristenen. Do definitely has the stand up skills to put Ristenen away but he must be very careful not to end up on the ground at the mercy of a superior grappler.

(FinnFighters) Jesse Ristinen vs. Floki Agard (Cromulent Doom)

(Ristenen def. Agard by Sub (Armbar) at 02:37, Rd 3)

FinnFighters Jesse Ristinen had to work very hard indeed to put away Cromulent Doom’s Floki Agard and it could be argued that he was actually in danger of losing the bout by decision but in the end, Ristenen was able to catch the underdog fighter with a submission and pick up the maximum points for his team.

Ristinen has fallen out of contention for the first place spot but second is still very much up for grabs and in fact, Ristenen himself may have a huge opportunity to snatch it up considering he is still to face off against current second place fighter Diego Diaz (YABAI). Currently 2-2 and with two fight left, Ristenen will next face off against Evil Empire’s Willy Do. A tough match up considering Do’s superior striking and reasonable attempts at learning the ground game.

Floki Agard now drops to 1-3 but is still miraculously above the bottom of the pile. That spot is currently occupied by The GBU team captain Quanah Parker of whom he will face next. A win of any kind would likely save him from that unfortunate fate but a finish loss would mean trading places with Parker. Not something Agard will want, especially after hanging on for so long and in spite of his predicted last place finish. Parker has possibly been the biggest disappointment of the tournament and is in absolutely terrible form. Agard will probably be the favourite going into this despite the disparity between their management teams.

(The GBU) Quanah Parker vs. Kybeau Ren (Heritage)

(Ren def. Parker by KO (Strikes) at 02:53, Rd 1)

It shouldn't be a surprise at this point but for some reason it still seems something of an upset as Heritage’s Kybeau Ren added yet another tick to the loss column of The GBU’s Quanah Parker. Ren was flawless in the execution of his game plan and the results speak for themselves.

Kybeau Ren was predicted a sixth place finish but currently he sits above expectations in fourth and joint in points with third place FinnFighter Jesse Ristenen. Ren is a fight ahead however and has only one fight remaining. A third place finish isn’t out of the question at this point though he would need favourable results from elsewhere. Ren will now enjoy a sixth round bye week before returning to face his final bout. Ren is also one of only three possibly active fighters in his alliance left and considering that Heritage are one of those in contention for the fourth place Play-Off spot, the pressure to get perfect results will never be more so than now.

It's difficult to know what is hapenning inside of Quanuah Parkers camp as he continues to string together poor performance after poor performance. With only two fights remaining in the group phase, Parker has only a little time to score a victory from somewhere and avoid a pontentially winless tournament campaign. Thoughts of his alliance somehow snatching the fourth spot and continuing into the play-offs must also be a source anxiety for him unless he can somehow turn things around from here? He will face Cromulent Doom's Floki Agard next and could potentially leapfrog him should he pick up a finish win.

205lbs

1 (2) (FF) Kake Randelin (4-0, Fin Win 3, Dec Win 1 = Points 11) *Time -06:35

2 (3) (GBU) Zane Alexander (4-1, Fin Win 4, Dec Loss 1 = Points 11)

3 (1) (TSD) Hamza Demirovic (3-1, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 7) *Time -04:41

4 (4) (Her) Furious Panda (3-1, Fin Win 2, Dec Win 1, Fin Loss 1 = Points 7) *Time -11:56

5 (5) (YAB) Gerhard Smakatron (1-3, Fin Win 1, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 2 = Points 1)

6 (6) (CD) Yadeep Singh (0-5, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 3 = Points -3)

7 (7) (EE) Finn Vernon (0-4, Fin Loss 4 = Points -4)

(The GBU) Zane Alexander vs. Hamza Demirovic (The Stepdads)

(Alexander def. Demirovic by TKO (Strikes) at 04:57, Rd 2)

Without a doubt the fight to watch in the 205lbs division and it certainly didn’t let us down. The stakes were high but in the end it was The GBU’s Zane Alexander that halted the seemingly unstoppable Hamza Demirovic of The Stepdad and his undefeated run. Alexander knew that he had only one real shot at getting this right and he executed his game plan to perfection, taking Demirovic down and avoiding the stand up and clinch almost entirely.

The result certainly mixed things up in the group standings with Alexander himself leapfrogging over Demirovic into second place. He is now currently tied on 11 points with group leader Kake Randelin (FinnFighters) though he is a fight ahead of pretty much everyone in contention for the top spot. Still, it has been a wild ride back to this point in an extremely competitive division after a slip up in his first round fight. Now 4-1 and with 1 fight left to go, Alexander will face off against Heritage’s Furious Panda in round six for his final bout. With an alliance relying on his good run of form, the pressure will be on Alexander to pick up the win. More so if he wants a shot at clinching the division title also. It won’t be easy however as Panda has been something of a surprise in the group at 3-1. Very similar in skill set and something of a mirror match. Should be a fun one to watch.

Hamza Demirovic has looked better and better after each round and so this result came as something of a surprise, especially after how he handled a similar looking fighter in Furious Panda. Demirovic will also be disappointed to have lost his undefeated streak and first place spot but overall it will matter little as he has already contributed heavily to his alliances domination in the group table. Only big fights left for Demirovic in his final two rounds. First up will be an extremely important match up against FinnFighters undefeated Kake Randelin. Randelin has now taken the top spot but Hamza could potentially retake it with a good result here and elsewhere. Almost guaranteed to be a stand up war and another fight where the result is going to matter to a lot of fighters.

(FinnFighters) Kake Randelin vs. Finn Vernon (Evil Empire)

(Randelin def. Vernon by TKO (Strikes) at 02:25, Rd 1)

Undefeated FinnFighter Kake Randelin was in no mood for leniancy as he heaped on the misery for flailing Finn Vernon of Evil Empire. Vernon, who has yet to pick up any points for his alliance, was overwhelmed by the superior clinch game of the Randelin and succumb in just two minutes and twenty five seconds of the first round.

No real surprise but still a very important result for Randelin as an already competitive group starts to really heat up. Randelin was able to move up into first position after rival Hamza Demorovic slipped up against Zane Alexander but now in the next round he faces a colossal showdown with Demorivic himself. A finish win would leave Randelin top of the group and with everything in his own hands but a finish loss could drop him as low as third. More added pressure for Randelin to as only one of three remaining undefeated fighters.

With yet another loss for Vernon, there was no change in the group standings. Vernon is rock bottom right now and no place to go but up. He is only one point behind group rival Yadeep Singh and has a fight in hand so hope isn’t completely lost at this time. He will next face off against YABAI’s team captain Gerhard Smakatron who has been disappointing thus far. A tough match up at this point but with only two fights remaining to pick up a win and some points, Vernon will need to up his game drastically if he isn’t to finish the group stage without a win

(YABAI) Gerhard Smakatron vs. Yadeep Singh (Cromulent Doom)

(Smakatron def. Singh by KO (Punch) at 03:53, Rd 2)

Two winless team captains went to war in this one but it was YABAI’s Gerhard Smakatron who walked away with a tick in the win column and Cromulent Doom’s Yadeep Singh who took one step closer to the dreaded winless tournament run. Singh took every opportunity to keep the fight in close quarters but overall it made little difference as Smakatron was equally impressive inside as he was at range.

It’s been a rough run for Smakatron and we can only imagine the victory brought about a huge sigh of relief. In terms of group standings it made little difference overall as Smakatron remains in fifth position with very little chance of moving up much higher. Perhaps third at absolute best with perfect results from here on and luck elsewhere with others. Still, points are still important for his alliance so the win will be most welcome. The just might be an opportunity for more in the next round as he faces another winless fighter in Evil Empire’s Finn Vernon. Vernon is currently in last place and will be desperate for a win of any kind meaning that he just might fight like a cornered animal.

With a rumoured chin of iron, it just goes to show the amount of punishment Yadeep Singh has taken over the course of this tournament. It’s a shame too as he looks to be a potential stand up superstar. It just hasn’t worked out that way and now Singh is fighting to avoid both a winless season and ending the tournament in last place. Currently in sixth and one point ahead of Finn Vernon in bottom, Singh has only one fight left but he will have some time to prepare for that as he is scheduled for a sixth round bye.

265lbs

1 (1) (TSD) Bubba Wallace (5-0, Fin Win 5 = Points 15)

2 (2) (FF) Markku Innanen (3-1, Fin Win 3, Fin Loss 1 = Points 8)

3 (4) (CD) Anton Gardner (2-2, Fin Win 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points 4) *Time -01:21

4 (5) (Her) Gwart Bartem (2-2, Fin Win 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points 4) *Time -02:17

5 (3) (EE) Dick Glover (2-2, Fin Win 2, Fin Loss 2 = Points 4) *Time -11:23

6 (6) (GBU) Daffy Duck (1-3, Fin Win 1, Fin Loss 3 = Points 0)

7 (7) (YAB) Francisco Baroza (0-5, Fin Loss 5 = Points -5)

(YABAI) Francisco Baroza vs. Anton Gardner (Cromulent Doom)

(Gardner def. Baroza by KO (Punch) at 01:12, Rd 1)

It was the result that sealed the fate of YABAI’s Francisco Baroza and resigned him to a bottom place finish in the heavyweight division. In just over a minute, Anton Gardner of Croumlent Doom clubbed Baroza into unconsciousness and picked up a huge win for himself and his alliance and putting him in the mix for a possible second place finish.

A thoroughly disappointing run of form for Francisco Baroza leaves him unable to move out of bottom place. Now riding a five fight losing streak and all by finish inside of six minutes, his performances will surely be a great concern for his alliance considering that Baroza is very likely to be moving into the Play-Off finals. On paper he looks formidable and has made improvements at a rate that most others haven’t managed but in the cage, it just hasn’t translated and Baroza is on the cusp of being a real burden on his well regarded alliance. He will next fight Evil Empire’s Dick Glover in what will be his last of the group stage and it’s very likely that Glover will be giving him the thrashing of his life.

As for Anton Gardner, the result was a big one for him and moves him up into the third spot and in contention for a second place finish. Currently tied on points with fourth place Gwart Bartem and fifth place Dick Glover and separated by virtue of time spent in the cage, Gardner has two fights left and his alliance will be looking to him as one of the fighters that could potentially move them out of the bottom spot and into a play-off space. It’s a long shot indeed and Gardner will need to overcome his next opponent Daffy Duck of The GBU. Duck hasn’t had the best of tournaments with a record of 1-3 and Gardner might feel confident that he has the skills to take him out.

(The GBU) Daffy Duck vs. Gwart Bartem (Heritage)

(Bartem def. Duck by Sub (Triangle Choke) at 01:51, Rd 1)

A nice victory for Heritage’s Gwart Bartem as he navigated the unique style of The GBU’s Daffy Duck. Duck looked immediately dangerous as he landed some hard elbows inside the clinch which opened a big cut on Bartem’s face. Bartem was able to keep composed however and managed to drag the fight down to the ground where his superior grappling game quickly overwhelmed white belt Duck and gave him the submission win inside of two minutes.

Bartem was predicted to struggle and finish last in this group so it a nice surprise to see him up in fourth and in possible contention for a second place finish. He is another fighter who has managed to excel in the gym and has built arguably the most well rounded skill set of any other in the tournament. However, things could be coming to an abrupt end here as, at the time of writing, Bartem hasn’t returned the calls to sign the fight agreement and hasn’t been heard of from in several days. With two of his alliance mates already having disappeared rumours of foul play are beginning to circulate. Something about Russian hacking and American intelligence services? Probably best to not speak of that though. Bartem is due to face FinnFighters second place Markku Innanen in the next round and he has just over two and a half weeks to resurface. Should he not come back then Heritage will stand no chance of making it into the play-off finals.

Duck now finds himself down near the bottom of the table in sixth but with two fights left to go, he could still potentially move up as high as third come the end of the group phase. He is slated to face Cromulent Doom’s Anton Gardner in the next round of whom is a fighter that Duck will need to beat should he want that third place finishing spot. It will be a tough fight however as Gardner has some heavy hands and a decent wrestling pedigree.

(FinnFighters) Markku Innanen vs. Bubba Wallace (The Stepdads)

(Wallace def. Innanen by KO (Strikes) at 01:49, Rd 1)

It was known beforehand that the fight between undefeated fighters Markky Innanen (FinnFighters) and Bubba Wallace (The Stepdads) would pretty much decide the champion of the heavyweight division and so it was that Bubba Wallace emerged victorious, perfect record still intact, and practically untouchable at the top of the heavyweight mountain. Both fighters threw some serious artillery at each other which left them both with cuts but Wallace’s power seemed to be irresistible as he put away Innanen inside of two minutes of the first round.

Now 5-0, Bubba Wallace looks to be a very dependable force for The Stepdads and remains one of only three fighters still undefeated. Innanen was his closest rival but he has now vanquished him and can rest easy knowing he has done his part. That’s not to say we expect him to take his foot of the gas from here. He still has his record to protect and is always fighting for the pride of his alliance. He has one fight remaining in the group phase but that will come after his sixth round bye.

Disappointing for Markku Innanen to lose so decisively and in doing so more or less concedes the first place spot to his group rival and losses his undefeated record. There is still a very small chance for Innanen to end up first though that would require two perfect results from him and need Bubba Wallace to slip up in his final bout; something that looks extremely unlikely at this stage. On the flip side, Innanen could theoretically drop to around about the number five spot which would not be a good way to end. He is slated to face Heritage’s Gwart Bartem in the next round but as yet, Bartem has not signed the fight agreement. A shame as that fight looked as though it could have been a fun one.

Alliance World Championship - Round 5 Standings

1 (1) The Stepdads (18-4, Fin Win 15, Dec Win 3, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 3 = Points 48)

2 (2) FinnFighters (14-6, Fin Win 12, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 5 = Points 35)

3 (3) Yabai (12-11, Fin Win 12, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 8 = Points 28)

4 (5) Heritage (9-12, Fin Win 7, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 10 = Points 15)

5 (4) The GBU (8-14, Fin Win 7, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 11 = Points 12)

6 (6) Evil Empire (8-13, Fin Win 5, Dec Win 3, Fin Loss 13 = Points 8)

7 (7) Cromulent Doom (6-15, Fin Win 4, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 4, Fin Loss 11 = Points 5)

The Stepdads still in a commanding position at the top of the table despite a very rare 3-2 round. Two of their four undefeated fighters lost their perfect records leaving only two of three remaining overall. Very difficult to see them slipping from here but it is still at least possible.

FinnFighters with a 2-1 round and a big loss in the heavyweight division to more or less give Stepdads the group title there. Now 13 points behind The Stepdads and only 7 ahead of YABAI. Looking more and more likely that we will see FinnFighters against YABAI in the semi-finals of the playoffs.

Much better from YABAI with one of their serial poor performers managing to pick up his first win. 3-1 this round and closing the gap between them and FinnFighters whilst moving further ahead from a possible and disastrous fourth place finish.

2-2 from Heritage with both of those losses stemming from inactivity. One outright forfeit for not accepting the fight and another from having not been in ages and likely not setting up a game plan for his fighters. In spite of all of this Heritage were able to move up one spot into the fourth and final Play-Off spot. Seems almost unfair to the rest of the team but it's looking as though Heritage could actually drop to only two active members of the team. Should this occur there is no chance they manage to keep this spot.

The GBU went 2-3 which wasn't enough good enough to hold on to their fourth place spot and instead they drop to fifth. Only three points away however and very likely to come back should Heritage keep automatically forfeiting their bouts due to inactivity.

The Evil Empire seems to be regressing after managing only one win out of four this round. Still within reach of the fourth spot with only seven points separating them, you just don't get the feeling that they have it in them to turn things around.

3-2 for Cromulent Doom. Decent by their standards this tournament but not enough to pull them up from bottom place. Still, they do come with a single maximum point win away from rivals Evil Empire and have a fight in hand to do so. Will they be able to manage it by the end of this group phase? Only time will tell.

SIXTH ROUND PREDICTIONS

OK folks. The wildly popular prediction competition is back once more. Six fights to choose from and I will give away 100k to every person who can predict all six but I will give away 250k to the person who gets the most correct. If more than one person, prize pool will be split.

135

(The Stepdads) Markus Haland (2-2) vs. (2-2) Chrollo Lucifer (Cromulent Doom)

- Battle for second place

155

(FinnFighters) Digi Box (3-1) vs. (2-3) Garth Wader (Evil Empire)

- Box chasing top spot, Wader needs points for alliance

170

(YABAI) Diego Diaz (3-1) vs. (5-0) Yaurod Atidibil (The Stepdads)

- Battle for top. Atidibil can clinch division with a draw minimum

(Cromulent Doom) Floki Agard (1-3) vs. (0-4) Quanah Parker (The GBU)

- Battle for bottom. Parker guaranteed last place unless he wins

205

(The Stepdads) Hamza Demirovic (3-1) vs. (4-0) Kake Randelin (FinnFighters)

- Battle for top. Randelin one of three remaining undefeated fighters.

265

(Heritage) Gwart Bartem (2-2) vs. (3-1) Markku Innanen (FinnFighters)

- Innanen chasing second. Bartem could open up that spot to majority of the group if he can stop him

Haha, I musta been too close last time, ya increased it from 5 to 6! Hahahahah!!!

Lol. A little too close to getting my money!

But seriously, it's just because there's two important fights in one division which I couldn't decide between. Thought I'd just make it six. Also why I added prize for whoever's gets most too. Someone must win this time!

I know heavyweight is a different animal but can someone even escape the first round with bubba? Every fight his opponent makes him bleed then he gets pissed and KOs them lol coming for that fighter of the tourney award! (If there is one) lol

Ask Alex K. he is an expert at escaping anything once the going gets tough:

Not sure how I lose this fight:

Does the scoring of grappling in MMA take into consideration sub attempts and improving position?

Truly a mistery. Like for example it looks like the program rewards more the escapes and stalling from top position than almost getting a submission. Even if I look at it from a grappling perspective, this would have been an easy win via points. I find if fascinating to be honest but hard to justify making an Edwin Najmi type fighter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJA5N6909LQ

Parker postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Agard is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Parker, into his guard.

Alliance World Championship - Round 6 Standings & Quick Recap

1 (1) The Stepdads (21-5, Fin Win 17, Dec Win 4, Dec Loss 1, Fin Loss 4 = Points 55)

2 (2) FinnFighters (16-9, Fin Win 14, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 6 = Points 40)

3 (3) YABAI (16-11, Fin Win 16, Dec Loss 3, Fin Loss 8 = Points 40)

4 (5) The GBU (10-16, Fin Win 9, Dec Win 1, Dec Loss 4, Fin Loss 12 = Points 17)

5 (4) Heritage (9-16, Fin Win 7, Dec Win 2, Dec Loss 2, Fin Loss 14 = Points 11)

6 (6) Evil Empire (10-16, Fin Win 6, Dec Win 4, Fin Loss 16 = Points 10)

7 (7) Cromulent Doom (8-17, Fin Win 5, Dec Win 3, Dec Loss 4, Fin Loss 13 = Points 8)

Despite quite a big upset loss, The Stepdads still managed to post a 3-1 round and increase their lead at the top to 15 points. Going into the last round it's safe to say they won't be budged from first place and that they will be going into the play-offs as the number one seed. Also a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to heavyweight Bubba Wallace who now remains the only undefeated fighter left in the tournament. You would think such an accolade would be worthy of a prize but unfortunately all we have is some thumbs up (nope, could have sworn their was a thumbs up emoji but upon further inspection there isn't)

This was one of FinnFighters worst rounds so far and I think their very first losing one with only a 2-3 record to show this time. Quite a slip in form and though it's unlikely to make much difference in terms of the play-offs, it does allow YABAI to catch up to them.

A perfect 4-0 for YABAI means they finally managed to catch up to second place FinnFighters. YABAI have been doing much better of late and are starting to put on the kind of performances we thought they were capable of all along.

Another middling 2-2 round for The GBU with the usual suspects letting them down once more. Still, with Heritage's implosion, it was enough to move up into the fourth and final qualifying spot for the play-offs.

Heritage went 0-4 with three of those fights being by forfeit. Very disappointing to see and a real shame for those that have made the effort to keep going.

Evil Empire managed a 2-3 round putting them dangerously close to filthy members of the Cromulent Doom alliance. Now going into the final group stage round there is only the faintest hope of qualifying for the play-offs

2-2 for Cromulent Doom who claw their dirty paws ever closer to the righteous Evil Empire. Could they possibly end the tournament not in last place? Could they do the impossible and snatch the final qualifying position? Stay tuned folks!
