WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 3

(Friday 5th April - Hyashi's Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

William “The Prince” Fidnhasieunch (20-11, 143lbs) vs. Fausto “Mastino Napoletano” Carsara (16-5, 200lbs)

Keep an eye on this one folks. Two highly experienced and skilled veterans going head to head in their first match up in the WVT Fight League. William Fidnhasieunch is primarily a ground fighter but he can finish you in a variety of ways once he gets you there. His opponent Fausto Carsara at first glance looks to be much the same before you realise that he has actually made a career out of knocking opponents out and all with some pretty rudimentary striking skills. Sixteen wins, sixteen KO’s says there is some serious power in those hands of his. Fidnhasieunch has suffered a fair few KO loses in his time so he will no doubt be tentative standing in front of Carsara but otherwise it will be extremely interesting to see how this one goes down.

Prediction: Carsara by KO

CO-MAIN EVENT

Ribociclib “CDK4/6” Kisqali (13-9, 220lbs) vs. James “The Nervous” Gregor (12-18, 210lbs)

A battle between two fairly evenly matched light-heavyweights with Swiss national Ribociclib Kisqali taking on Australia’s James Gregor. Kisqali has yet to fight this year but when he does it will be under new management. Gregor, fresh from a unsuccessful stint at EMPIRE which saw him go 0-3, will be looking for a fresh start here in his new home. Whilst Gregor has the worse record of the two, both fighters are almost equal in wins and both share 12 KO’s apiece. They have also both lost seven times each by KO which leads us to believe that this one is going to be a real stand up war.

Both fighters have a high level of skill and either one could potentially do very well here in the WVT

Prediction: Gregor by Decision

Greg “The Gronk” Bell (13-20, 300lbs) vs. Ra Rrz “Rawwwr” Be Nize (3-3, 151lbs)

Physicality and experience take on speed and cunning as super-heavyweight journeyman takes on featherweight ground technician Ra Rez Be Nize. Bell has often served as something of a mid tier gatekeeper in the now defunct Iron Man Fight Club and has at times picked up some decent wins though often at the expense of his opponents lack of ground skills. There is little chance of doing so against such a ground specialist such as Be Nize who, on paper at least, will be superior in every avenue in that respect. Be Nize will also have a decent advantage on the feet but whether the much smaller man can crack the granite chin of Bell will remain to be seen. The biggest factor in this one will be seeing if Be Nize can overcome the massive size difference. Everything else aside, Be Nize would be the likely favourite.

Prediction: Be Nize by Decision

“The G-Man” David Dupuis (5-6, 200lbs) vs. “The” Chad Yonic (2-1, 160lbs)

It’s been quite a while seen “The G-Man” David Dupuis was seen inside the cage and there is likely going to be a degree of ring rust to work off. Dupuis will also be fighting for the first time under new management so that will be another interesting factor. His opponent is young, up and coming lightweight fighter Chad Yonic who will also be fighting for the first time in quite a while. Yonic, who managed a 2-1 record at NJMMA before disappearing for a time, is still only 21 years old and depending on how he has spent his time away, could still have plenty of time to live up to his potential. For this fight specifically, can he manage to overcome Dupuis age and experience or will he have to chalk this one up to more of a learning experience? We can wait to find out!

Prediction: Dupuis by KO

Jan “Champion” Jedrzejczyk (12-11, 147lbs) vs. Awut “Klaew Kla” Smith (8-4, 273lbs)

Natural featherweight Jedrzejczyk takes on super-heavyweight banger Awut Smith and tactically speaking, this one is going to be interesting. Jedrzejczyk has experience fighting in some of the biggest middle tier orgs in tycoon history while Awut Smith hasn’t really been able to get any kind of consistency going in his career so far having changed managers on no less than four occasions. With that aside he has managed to carve out a respectable record of 8-4 but most notable is the eight KO’s that come with that. Jedrzejczyk too has a good record of finishes in his own weight class but could he possible finish a fighter with over hundred pounds on him or will he try and go a different way completely?

Prediction: Smith by KO

Shawn Griffin (12-12, 168lbs) vs. Crazy “Pitbull” Boco (5-11, 185lbs)

Two more fighters get an opportunity to start afresh after toiling along with a journeymans existence. Shawn Griffin, it must be said, has fought at the higher level with most of his bouts being in professional fight leagues where as Crazy Boco has mainly fought in the wild lands of the QFC system. Griffin has some small advantages in skill going into the fight but nothing that Boco couldn’t contend with given the right instructions and training. The biggest concern for both fighters is that during their pre-fight medical exams, the doctor proclaimed them both clinically depressed and was concerned for their mental well being overall.

Prediction: Griffin by KO

Hank “Hill” Jones (7-7, 189lbs) vs. Cal “Calizard” Robbins (6-10, 181lbs)

Hank Jones is at something of a crossroads in his career right now. With a record of 7-7, Jones is no longer a rookie looking to gain experience but he is in danger of becoming an average journeyman. Still young enough to reach a decent standard, maybe Jones can reinvent himself here at the WVT. In his first appearance he will face Cal Robbins, an experienced veteran and BJJ Brown Belt. Robbins ground game will be a huge challenge for Jones but Jones has the advantage in the stand up. A very winnable fight for either fighters.

Prediction: Jones by KO

King Murhaa (8-7, 210lbs) vs. Johnny Walker (10-7-1, 170lbs)

Two fighters that struggled to make at impact at Empire FC have found their way to the WVT and an opportunity for a fresh start. Both fighters seem to have a lot going for them on paper but have not yet quite figured out how to put it all together. Murhaa seems to be the better grappler with a decent advantage in the wrestling and jui-jitsu but it is Walker’s elite boxing that stands to keep this bout competitive and interesting and we look forward to seeing just how well a decent natural lightweight deals with a legit light-heavyweight. With both fighters known for going the distance perhaps a draw is on the cards?

Prediction: Walker by Decision

Yoel “Can Crusher” Fullton (2-0, 215lbs) vs. Moses Odongkara (0-0, 270lbs)

Two young up and comers face off each of with 2-0 Yoel Fullton taking on Moses Odongkara who will be making his MMA debut. Fullton has looked dangerous early in his career notching up two first round TKO victories and will now get his first taste of the bigger stages as he prepares for debut fight inside the WVT cage. Odonkara, a high level kickboxer from Uganda will put his striking skills up against Fullton’s wrestling and we will see what comes of this early card clash

Prediction: Fullton by TKO

Victor “Red Cyclone” Bangief (2-1, 400lbs) vs. Hamish “The Pig” McTavish (12-10, 292lbs)

Off the top of my head I can’t think of a fighter currently signed to the WVT that is larger than four-hundred pound grappler Victor Bangief. An gargantuan specimen of a man, he will make his debut here at WVT against the experienced Hamish McTavish, no small man himself at two-hundred and ninety-two pounds. Though Bangief is the eldar of the two, McTavish has been in the game longer and will have good amount of experience over Bangief who is really just beginning his career at the tender age of thirty. He has yet to actually fight in the pro leagues after a 2-1 record and so it will be extremely exciting to see him make that step up from the QFC. McTavish will provide him with an extremely stern test as he himself has put together some decent runs wherever he has found himself. Whether McTavish has what it takes to be a champion here we will have to wait and see but for now we can look forward to a real super-heavyweight showdown

Prediction: McTavish by TKO

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 4

(Friday 5th April - Hyashi's Lounge, Las Vegas)

MAIN EVENT

Cheif “Little” Foot (8-7, 275lbs) vs. Jimmy “The Wall” Fothergill (4-0, 260lbs)

A great little match up between two fighters that, though getting there start in MMA around the same time, have both taken strikingly different approaches to their careers. Chief Foot, the heavyweight kickboxer from North Dakota, USA, has taken every opportunity offered to him to get inside the cage and gain experience. So far, things haven’t always gone his way but after amassing an 8-7 winning record, it’s fair to say that Cheif Foot is no longer an untested greenhorn in the tycoon universe. His opponent Jimmy “The Wall” Fothergill in contrast, has only emerged from the gym on four occasions so far and all have been to test himself in the wild but amateur ranks of the QFC system. So far Fothergill looks like a solid prospect having gone 4-0 with three coming by way of first round KO but this will be his first true test in a professional setting and Chief Foot is expected to provide him a very equal challenge.

Prediction: Fothergill by Decision

CO-MAIN EVENT

Orc Mismash (8-10, 310lbs) vs. Ophelius “Krampus” Ragnar (7-5, 222lbs)

Our co-main event of the evening is hard hitting super-heavyweight journeyman Orc Mismash taking on a somewhat unproven BJJ Black Belt Ophelius Ragnar.

Mismash comes to arrives here after after a fairly average foray over at EFC and Sydney Fights before. While it’s true that he does have a losing 8-10 record, 7 of those 8 wins have come by way of KO meaning that on his day, 310lbs Mismash can be a very dangerous opponent. Facing him in his WVT debut is Opehlius Ragnar who has been taking things slowly and doing everything the right way since coming under new management. Ragnar disappeared from the MMA scene for almost half a year before returning under the guidance of his new manager. From there he has looked good at QFC level and chalked up a 3-0 win streak with all three wins coming by way of submission.

This one will be interesting as Ragnar is by far the better grappler and should the fight hit the floor, he would surely be favoured. Saying that, he has been accused of being somewhat weak chinned and with an opponent as big and strong as Mismash, that could be a recipe for disaster. Mismash will still likely be the underdog going into this, but an upset wouldn’t be too much of a surprise for many.

Predicition: Ragnar by Submission.

Vinnie Sixx (6-11, 255lbs) vs. Jaxson Wilder (12-6-1, 205lbs)

Big Vinnie Sixx returns to the professional ranks of MMA after picking up a win in the unregulated QFC system. This follows a brief unsuccessful stint at Empire in Las Vegas where Sixx lost his two fights before being handed his release. He faces former light-heavyweight prospect who at one time looked to be a potential title contender at IFC but who has fallen from grace in recent times and has gone through a few different managerial changes. Now fighting for the first time with his new camp, Wilder will no doubt be looking to get his career back on track.

On paper Vinnie Sixx looks to hold all the cards in this one though it’s fair to say that his performances haven’t always match up with his skills. Wilder has a decent record of KO’s and Sixx has a bit of a reputation by now for being a little “chiney” which could spell disaster unless he can step it up a gear here in his WVT debut.

Prediction: Wilder by KO

Devin “The Conqueror” Watkins (8-13, 180lbs) vs. Bon Adrien De Moncey (2-1, 184lbs)

Devin Watkins has been toiling around the MMA scene for a while now and has generally been considered a decent journeyman fighter. He has spent the bulk of his career at ABW where he racked up an 8-13 record. For his first fight in his new home he’ll be taking on twenty-two year old French national Bon Adrien De Moncey who has only recently decided that it was time to get out into the mma world and has so far managed a 2-1 record. An interesting match up considering that Watkins will have a disadvantage on the ground despite seven of his eight wins coming by way of submission. On the feet he looks to be a step ahead of De Moncey but whether that is something he can capitalise on we won’t know until fight time. A tough first fight at WVT for De Moncey but many believe he will easily rise to the occasion.

Prediction: De Moncey by Decision

Gohsa Lopez (9-4, 135lbs) vs. Alexey “Black Panther” Markov (6-8, 223lbs)

It’s been some time since flyweight grappling specialist Gosha Lopez was last seen in the cage but now, under new management, Lopez will return to action and in his WVT debut takes on nomadic journeyman Alexy Markov. Markov has an extremely impressive and well rounded skill set, has fought all over the world and in countless different organisations but has never quite managed to gain any real momentum. A good opportunity for both fighters to pick up where they left off.

Prediction: Lopez by Submission

Yen “Funky” Askren (11-13-1, 185lbs) vs. Michael MP (7-10, 274lbs)

This one looks to be a real competitive match up with two similarly skilled and experienced fighters. Natural welterweight Yen Askren takes on heavyweight hitter Michael MP.

Askren has had a tough time of late and with two undeniably unsuccessful stints in two back to back orgs, it really must feel like he is starting right back at the beginning again.

His opponent Michael MP spent the beginning stages of his career in the QFC system where he largely managed to go 50/50 but after moving up into the professional leagues he has struggled with the jump in competition and will be coming into this fight with only one win in his last six.

Both fighters have some decent heavy hands but also both have suffered from their fair share of KO losses themselves. MP will have a large weight advantage which could be the deciding factor in this but if Askren can make his small advantage on the feet count I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t rack up another KO win for himself.

Prediction: Askren by TKO

“Mighty Mo” Mohhamad Iman (2-0, 225lbs) vs. Javier “Justice” Janos (4-0, 151lbs)

Next up, two young, undefeated up and comers go head to head and someone is about to learn all about the wisdom of defeat.

Mohhamad Iman is a small heavyweight submission wrestler with a record of 2-0, both by submission. His opponent is featherweight Javier Janos who has done rather well at 4-0 with some well rounded but rudimentary fight skills.

Iman is likely to want only to get this fight to the floor where as Janos will have a number of options at his disposal and with the right game plan should be able to avoid going head to head with Iman’s superior wrestling skills.

Prediction: Iman by TKO

Petchuangtong Sitsongrit (1-1, 157lbs) vs. Kewin Wibowo (0-1, 190lbs)

Due to a mistake on the part of the matchmaker, up and coming fighters Petchuangtong Sitsongrit and Kewin Wibowo will face off against each other in something of an exhibition match up. The reason being is that both fighters currently come from the same management team. Hopefully an opportunity to learn more about the intricacies of the fight game and the tactics involved but definitely not an ideal situation in the long term.

Prediction: Sitsongrit by Decision

Ake “Sumozilla” Bono (1-0, 300bs) vs. “Red Ribbon Army’s” Android Seventeen Version Two (0-1, 145lbs)

Rounding out the evening, an opportunity for two young fighters to pick up some valuable experience with three-hundred pound Ake Bono taking on flyweight Android Seventeen 2.0.

It will certainly be a spectacle as the much smaller fighter Seventeen will be looking to stay on his feet and away from the grasp of the big grappler Bono. Should Bono do so however, it’s likely to be all she wrote for Seventeen who is going to need some absolute dynamite in those fists of his if he is to get the job down here tonight.

Prediction: Ake Bono by Submission in Round 1

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 5

(13th April 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

(#1) John “The Holigan” Braddock (18-4, 285lbs) vs. (#17) Comeon Hitme (13-14, 215lbs)

Our main event of the evening features two fighters that got off to winning starts in their WVT debuts and who now go face to face to see who will keep treading that path towards the championship gold.

John “The Holigan” Braddock was always expected from the start to be among those with the greatest shot of being the very first WVT champion and after dominant performance against Oleg Liguy in his first match, opinions have not wavered.

His opponent Comeon Hitme, managed to overturn a pretty dire run of form totalling six straight loses by taking out Ignatius Thistlewhite in the first round of his WVT debut. The bout didn’t even total a minute and now Hitme will get a big opportunity to take on a former heavyweight champion in Braddock.

Prediction: Braddock by TKO in Round 2

(#14) Oleg “Easy B” Liguy (9-11, 185lbs) vs. Dominque Bell (20-15, 139lbs)

Oleg Liguy arrived in the WVT off of a string of victories in the QFC system. He had a rough start to his WVT foray however when he was caught inside the clinch of former heavyweight star John Braddock and taken out just before the end of round one. It was a big step up in competition without a doubt and perhaps now with those first time jitters out of the way, Liguy can start to build up something of himself here.

This time out he faces flyweight grappler Dominique Bell, a former champion of IFC on the Island but who was never quite able to reach that level on the mainland. Still, Bell has meandered along and has never gone too long without picking up a win. Always a tricky customer on the ground, Bell stands an excellent chance of picking up his twentieth submission victory if he can get the fight to the floor. On the feet, Liguy could have a decent shot at out striking Bell though generally Liguy isn’t know to be much of a striker.

Prediction: Bell by Submission in Round 2

Ignatius Thistlewhite (10-15, 152lbs) vs. Ray “The King of Kings” Mancini (16-16, 115lbs)

For his WVT debut, Ignatius Thistlewhite struggled against his heavier opponent Comeon Hitme and his run of poor form continues but tonight, he will face a different problem and it definitely won’t be from a weight disadvantage. He takes on 115lb Ray Mancini who returns to the cage after facing an incredibly tough opponent in Monte Zuma. Mancini, who has gone back and forth between MMA and KT, has stated his desire to be the first natural strawweight champion at open weight and in many ways could consider this his first real fair, competitive fight in the WVT.

Prediction: Mancini by KO in Round 2

Akkan Kubilay (11-2, 161lbs) vs. Marcin “Prince” Vanna (11-12, 155lbs)

Another two fighters off to winning starts in their WVT debuts are in-form BJJ Brown Belt Akkan Kubilay and Liberian journeyman grappler Marcin “Prince” Vanna.

With a record of 11-2, there is a sense that perhaps Kubilay is quite a bit better than his immediate skills would suggest and, even after multiple changes of management, Kubilay continues to win. Of course, a win here means a step up in the next fight and now Kubilay will face off against experienced grappler Vanna. Vanna made short work of kickboxer Maung Maung Thu in his debut and now he himself will be able to challenge himself further with a more meaningful fight.

Kubilay will likely be the favourite with a few wondering just how far this pure grappling lightweight can go.

Prediction: Kubilay by Submission in Round 1

Sam Sung “Galaxy” (7-1, 278lbs) vs. Brock Steve (8-2, 146lbs)

Two decent prospects here at the WVT going head to head. 7-1 super-heavyweight Sam Sung takes on 8-2 natural flyweight Brock Steve.

Both fighters got off to a winning start in their WVT debuts with Sung picking up the sixth submission win of his career and Steve managing to take out his opponent early in the third by KO. The sixth of his career also.

Aside from the massive weight difference, this one looks to be fairly even with Sung having the edge on the ground and Steve on the feet. The biggest question going into this one is whether Steve can put Sam Sung away. Does his possess the power to take out super-heavyweights?

Prediction: Sung by Submssion in Round Three

Crack Head “Roks”(13-16, 153lbs) vs. Lukasz “Cichy” Patryk (8-20, 208lbs)

Crack Head returns after putting up a decent fight against a very tough opponent in Papa John. The loss made it four in a row for the Mexico City native but “Roks” might feel as though he has a much better chance of picking up a win here when he takes on Lukasz Patryk. Patryk still has a long way to go if he wants to even up his record of 8-20 but a win in his WVT debut was a positive step towards doing so and he did look good while doing it, dominating in all three rounds against Ryan Lock for a decision win.

Both fighters are very experienced though Head has a bit of an advantage on the ground. This could factor in quite a bit during the fight as both fighters are relatively well rounded and like to fight in all areas.

Prediction: Head by Decision

“Gyilkos Mokusok” Altintop Palonesess (7-19, 154lbs) vs. Noam “Scottish Superstar” Dar (10-11, 178lbs)

Next up, an interesting showdown between two veteran journeyman fighters. Altintop Palonesess and Noam Dar were both unsuccessful in their WVT debuts but tonight get an opportunity to pick up their first win. Palonesess looks to be the more well rounded of the two and would definitely cause problems for Dar on the feet but Dar does have a long list of submission victories and a decent advantage on the ground.

Palonesess looks to be taking things slightly more seriously however and it would be difficult at this time to bet against him edging out Dar

Prediction: Palonesess by Dec

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 6

(13th April 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Las Vegas)

MAIN EVENT
(#2) Fletch “Skeeter” Brandis (17-7, 235lbs) vs. (#4) Anthony “The Animal” Griffith (13-9, 265lbs)

The main event of our Las Vegas event features popular toughman champion Fletch “Skeeter” Brandis taking on heavyweight Anthony Griffith

Many were pleasantly surprised when Fletch Brandis signed on to fight in the open weight World Vale Tudo Fight League and believed he could definitely have what it takes to pick up his first championship belt since starting out in MMA. In his debut, Brandis managed to brush aside tricky bantamweight grappler Dominique Bell’s submission attempts on the ground and picked up his sixteenth KO win of his career. A great start for Brandis but who will now face off against hard hitting heavyweight Anothiny Griffith who able to convince the judges in his three round contest against Aulis Homelius. Griffith will have around thirty pounds on Brandis and himself has a good record of KO’s on his resume so he will definitely be a challenge and a danger to Brandis going into this main event showdown.

Prediction: Brandis by KO in Round 2

CO MAIN EVENT

(#6) “The Hunk” Jack Dawson (14-11, 270lbs) vs. (#9) Niko Marcell (13-2, 274lbs)

Jack Dawson returns to the cage after avenging a previous loss to kickboxer Francisco Babyara. Dawson, perhaps surprising Babyara, took full advantage of his opponents lack of grappling by taking the fight to the floor and picking up the TKO win in just twenty-two seconds. It is thought that his next opponent Niko Marcell will provide a much better challenge for Dawson after his own impressive showing on the ground in his debut fight against Jimmy Henderson.

Tactically this should be interesting as Dawson isn’t generally know for wanting to fight on the ground while Marcell looks to be strong there and perhaps has the means to get the fight there should he choose to. Both are large heavyweights at 270lbs apeice though Marcell will tower over Dawson in height which might make it more difficult for Dawson to connect with his chin from the outside. A tough fight to predict as both fighters are generally considered to be among the more immediately obvious contenders in WVT

Prediction: Marcell by TKO in Round 3

Magnus “Russian Destroyer” Fjeld (15-16, 343lbs) vs. Umberto “Gorro” Grena (13-20, 169lbs)

Massive three-hundred and forty-three pound monster Magnus Fjeld bullied his way to a successful debut against his smaller opponent Maciej Groski and will get another chance to do the same again here tonight. His opponent, natural welterweight, Umberto Grena will no doubt hope to fare better and continue to build on his own good start after winning by first round submission in his WVT debut.

There isn’t a great deal of difference in skill between these two fighters but there is a huge weight difference and it could be argued that Fjeld is in the better form of the two. Of course, Fjeld will need to put in some work after allegations of trying to cherry pick his opponents were made and whether a win against Grena would do this is unknown.

Prediction: Fjeld by TKO in Round 2

Oscar “Bologna” Meyer (7-7, 270lbs) vs. Bunnar Marbleforge (7-3, 185lbs)

Oscar Meyer was brought in to the WVT mainly down to his do or die brawling style with never fails to entertain. Those in attendance that got to witness his WVT debut definitely weren’t left disappointed as he ending his fight against Bruno Beast in spectacular fashion with a head kick KO in the second round. He’ll now take on BJJ Brown Belt Bunnar Marbleforge who does have a somewhat better overall record than Meyer though has had bouts of inactivity and a change of manager in the past. Marbleforge was also victorious in his debut and moved straight into the number sixteen spot in the rankings.

Prediction: Marbleforge by Submission in Round Two

Blitz “88” Kreig (10-15, 300lbs) vs. Kabala “The Wizard” Magaluff (4-2, 194lbs)

Big, strong heavy hitters like Blitz Krieg will always be appreciated by the casual fan as well as always have a punchers chance in a fight. That’s exactly what Kreig will have here after making a big splash in his WVT debut.

He’ll be facing the rather strange Kabala Mafaluff who, despite being involved in the MMA scene for some time now, has rarely been seen inside the cage. Whether that is by personal choice or just a lack of opportunity I suppose doesn’t matter any more as Magaluff is here in the WVT and has gotten off to a winning start.

As mentioned before, Krieg will always be a danger with his size and power and Magaluff will need to be very careful when engaging but his wrestling is likely to be completely overwhelming should he manage to get inside.

Prediction: Magaluff by TKO in Round Two

Cyrius “The Snake” Python (10-10, 167lbs) vs. Jimmy “El Terror” Henderson (7-9, 217lbs)

Cyrius Python dropped down from a winning record to go 10-10 in his WVT debut, a tough match up with a well rounded Brock Steve that ended with Python getting caught early in round three. Up to that point, Python had been trying hard to get the fight to the floor but really used up a lot of energy with so many failed attempts.

Tonight, he’ll be taking on “El Terror” Jimmy Henderson who himself will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing WVT debut in which he lost to 12-2 prospect Niko Marcell. Henderson found the competition just a little too stiff on that occasion and was largely outclassed up to a late first round knockout loss.

On paper, this fight looks very competitive with both fighters being predominantly submission hunters. Perhaps Python has a little extra going for himself in that department but it certainly wouldn’t be by much at all. It’s possible Henderson might try to beat Python on the feet with his boxing and the extra power that his weight advantage might give him but considering his record of KO losses, he stands a chance of himself getting caught out.

Prediction: Python by Decision

Petr “The Bee” Kotrc (4-11, 134lbs) vs. Maciej “Highlander” Gorski (6-20-1, 156lbs)

A showdown against two fighters not in the best of form will give one of them a rare opportunity to pick up a win. Flyweight Petr Kotrc had a rough time in his debut against Kabala Magaluff, losing in the first minute by KO and his opponent Maciej Gorski bravely attempted to take on a 343lb Magnus Fjeld.

Kotrc has the slightly better record over his last five fights where as Gorski is currently nursing a six fight slide. Gorski looks to have an advantage in the stand up but really, both fighters are fairly well rounded compared to each other. A tough fight to predict but should definitely be an entertaining fight.

Prediction: Kotrc by Decision

Maung Maung Thu (0-2, 135lbs) vs. Ryan “The Hammer” Lock (5-17, 196lbs)

Young Kick Boxer Maung Maung Thu is still searching for his first win after two consecutive losses where as his opponent Ryan Lock has managed to lose a demoralising thirteen in a row. This match up could be a big opportunity for Lock to put an end to that as he looks to take advantage in several areas of the fight. About the biggest mistake he could make however would be to go head to head with Thu’s exceptional kickboxing skills.

Prediction: Lock by Decision

Raheem “The Dream” Nazir (9-25, 210lbs) vs. Perdue “The Spider” Willshire (5-12, 142lbs)

Rahaam Nazir comes into this bout looking to end an eight fight drought where as his opponent Perdue Willshire has actually managed a couple of wins in his last five.

Both fighters made unsuccessful debuts here in the WVT but will now get a chance at redemption as they face off against each other.

Prediction: Nazir by TKO in Round Two

WORLD VALE TUDO FIGHT LEAGUE 7

(20th April 2019 – Hyashi’s Lounge, Los Angeles)

MAIN EVENT

Fausto “Mastino Napoletano” Carsara (17-5, 200lbs) vs. Hamish “The Pig” McTavish

A big fight for the top of the WVTFL rankings with 5th ranked Fausto Carsara taking on number 7th ranked Hamish McTavish on a collision course towards the title.

Both fighters got off to winning starts in their World Vale Tudo Fight League debuts and will be keen to keep the good times rolling. With both fighters arriving here with a decent amount of buzz, it’s no surprise that they are both a little further ahead in terms of title contention than some of the others fighters in the Top 20. Of course, there is still a way to go before we get to that point and as yet neither fighter has built up a truly championship worthy run. The victor of this fight will take a big step towards that however.

On paper, it looks as though McTavish is the more well rounded of the two and with an almost one-hundred pounds weight advantage many might consider him a strong favourite. On closer inspection however, we find a fighter with a very good professional and with an incredible record of KO victories. Seventeen out of seventeen for Carsara says that he has some absolute thunder in those hands of his and with McTavish’s questionable chin, it will make for a very tense time in the cage.

McTavish is a monster on the ground though and Carsara is weakest in that area. If the fight should end up there Carsara could well be in trouble.

A big fight so soon in their WVT careers and hopefully a treat for those watching

Prediction: Carsara surprises McTavish by early KO in Round 1

CO-MAIN EVENT

Misugu Takeishi (8-1, 330lbs) vs. William “The Prince” Fidnhasieunch (20-12, 143lbs)

One of the most exciting recent signings at the WVTFL is Japanese Sumo wrestler Mitsugu Takeishi. Takeishi began his training in MMA at age 23 after joining the world famous Arcalimon Top Team academy and quickly got off to an 8-0 start. After suffering his first loss at Jag Battle League, Takeishi found himself looking for a new stomping ground and we are excited to see him in action here.

His opponent will be experienced veteran grappler William Fidnhasieunch. Fidnhasieunch is a natural flyweight and so this fight will definitely be a great showcase of just what open weight fighting is about. Almost two-hundred pounds will separate these two as Fidnhasieunch looks to avenge his WVTFL debut loss to Fausto Carsara.

Takeishi will look to finish this on the feet or in the clinch. Fidnhasieunch will want to get this behemoth on the ground and find a way to submit him. Can the up and comer get past this wily veteran or will the old guard find something up his sleeve to get the win?

Prediction: Takeishi by TKO in the first round.

Cheif “Little” Foot (9-7, 275lbs) vs. Shawn Griffin (13-12, 168lbs)

Another big size difference as 270lb Chief Foot takes on lightweight fighter Shawn Griffin.

Foot managed to grit his way to a decision win during his WVT debut and now looks to push his winning streak to three in a row here tonight. He’ll take on journeyman Shawn Griffin who also comes into this fight off the back of a successful WVT debut. Griffin impressed with a TKO win two minutes into the first round against Crazy Boco which made him once again a winning record fighter at 13-12.

Though Griffin has been around the game for quite a bit longer it is Chief Foot that has made the most progress in the gym and on paper looks to be the solid bet here tonight. With so much experience however, Foot would be foolish to dismiss Griffin outright as he does know how to finish a fight with eight KO’s and two submission to his name.

Prediction: Foot by KO in the first round.

Diyorbek Nurudinov (12-11, 270lbs) vs. Fanta Coco (14-12, 230lbs)

A late edition to the card features two heavyweight newcomers and both former IFC and Empire alumni. Elite Uzbek wrestler Diyorbek Nurudinov takes on Polish striker Fanta Coco.

Nurudinov has had something of a nomadic career that has seen him all across the world and in no less then seven different orgs. Now starting number eight at the WVTFL, Nurudinov looks to make an immediate impact.

His opponent is also a veteran of the combat game at this point though hasn’t managed to rack up quite so many air miles just yet. Coco has at times managed some impressive runs and is actually a former champion in TBD of Hilo. With recent form being as it has, those days might seem a little far away but with a little luck and a good amount of effort, supportors of Coco will hope that he can regain a little of that magic.

Prediction: Neither fighters aren’t in the best of form and neither would be likely to call their foray at New York based Empire org much of a success. Both are heavyweights though Nurudinov is a much larger one. Both have a decent percentage of finish wins on their records though Nurudinov’s is a little higher. If Coco can stay on his feet there’s a good chance he gets the win but he will first need to find a way of dealing with Nurudinov’s stellar wrestling and that will be the key.

Awut “Klaew Kla” Smith (9-4, 273lbs) vs. Greg “The Gronk” Bell (14-20, 300lbs)

A battle of the big guys as 273lb Awut Smith takes on 300lbs Greg Bell.

Smith returns to the cage after bullying his debut opponent in his last fight. Smith scored multiple knockdowns on his smaller opponent and seemed not to care one bit before mercifully ending the bout halfway through round two. Some serious power on display there but tonight he will have to worry about the jiu-jitsu skills of his opponent Greg Bell.

Bell scored something of an upset in his WVT debut beating Ra Rrz Be Nize as the heavy betting underdog and causing Nize’s manager to sack him in a fit of rage. To some, the result wasn’t a great surprise as Bell does have a history of sporadic decent performances and he definitely put one on there.

Pretty much a grappler versus striker match up with Smith looking to land on the feet and Bell looking to take Smith off of his. Though Bell does have quite a lot of KO losses on his record, he is known for being durable and having a tough to crack chin. It’s likely to be tested in this one so if Bell can’t get this fight where he wants it, he might just be in big trouble.

Prediction: Smith by Decision.

Alexey “Black Panther” Markov (7-8, 223lbs) vs. James “The Nervous” Gregor (13-18, 210lbs)

Two highly skilled fighters that haven’t really been able to mount much of a run anywhere they have been go head to head after both getting off to winning starts in their time here.

Alexey Markov managed to defeat smaller opponent Gosha Lopez by decision while Gregor was involved in a real brawl of a fight against Ribociclib Kisqali and managed to get the TKO via a cut midway through the first round. That the fight ended that way at that time just goes to show the level of damage inflicted so quickly.

On paper, this fight wouldn’t look at out of place opening the card of any org in the tycoon universe and is marked to be something pretty special. Gregor has perfect record of KO’s on his resume and while Markov doesn’t have quite the experience of his opponent, he too boasts a finish rate close to 75%. Markov slightly taller and slightly heavier might feel that he is the more serious of the two. Gregor might just be the more dangerous.

Prediction: Gregor by TKO in the second Round.

“The Poet” Phillip Baroni (5-7-1, 199lbs) vs. Papa John (5-7, 140lbs)

Making his WVTFL debut tonight is middleweight striker Phillip Baroni. Baroni has spent the entirety of his career so far in Sydney where he is an alumni of SyFi and then Terra Australis Fighting Championship which rose from the ashes of the former. Baroni has developed an impressive striking repertoire and is most dangerous on the feet. All of his five wins have been by KO though he has been finished the same way himself on a few occasions. Still fairly young, Baroni could well develop into a very good fighter but currently, his erratic form is leading him closer to that of a journeyman gatekeeper.

Facing Baroni is Scottish flyweight Papa John. John had been a regular at IFC where he would often win some, lose some before suffering a real low in his career and a five fight losing streak. John makes his return to the cage after a successful WVT debut in which he got the TKO victory over Crack Head in the second round. The win wasn’t enough to put John in the inaugural top 20 but it is a good start towards climbing the WVT rankings.

Both fighters are most comfortable on the feet but John is of a much higher standard on the ground and, coupled with his weight disadvantage, would likely do better in attempting to get the fight to the ground. With Baroni’s superior wrestling however, this might be a tough endeavour.

Prediction: Baroni by KO in the 3rd round.

Javier “Justice” Janos (4-1, 151lbs) vs. “Red Ribbon Army’s” Android Seventeen Version Two (0-2, 145lbs)

An interesting fight between two young up and comers next as 4-1 Javier Janos takes on Android Seventeen 2.0 who is still looking for his first win.

After going 4-0 in the QFC system, Janos found goings a lot tougher in his professional org debut as he lost a decisive decision to Mohhamad Iman.

Two quick fights in succession for Android Seventeen have highlighted the glaring hole in his submission defences though tonight he might just get to use that wonderful boxing of his against all rounder Janos.

If Janos is smart, he will attempt to get this fight on the floor at all costs otherwise he is unlikely to match Seventeen’s skills on the feet.

Prediction: Seventeen by KO in the first round

Bruno “The” Beast (1-2, 210lbs) vs. Devin “The Conqueror” Watkins (8-14, 180lbs)

A tough debut for Bruno Beast as he was caught by pure striker Oscar Meyer in his debut. He have a small weight advantage tonight as he takes on Devin Watkins who struggled with the superior submission skills of Bon Adrien De Moncey in his WVT and lost very late in the second round.

With the loses both fighters find themselves languishing very low on the WVT roster and with only one way to go, neither fighter has much to lose here.

Watkins is on a four fight slide where as beast will be making only his fourth professional appearance after kicking around the scene for a few years now. Some feel as though Watkins might just be a little too seasoned for him at this point though in his current form, it’s very difficult to pick up as favourite

Prediction: Watkins by Submission in the third round.
