Vaimaa Fatu (8-5) vs. Dragon Warfist (8-5-1)

The next fight is an excellent match-up between Dragon Warfist and Vaimaa Fatu in a very important week for both of these teams because neither wants to fall too far behind the two teams tied for the lead in the standings. This fight looks very even on the feet with both fighters having similar muay-thai backgrounds but Warfist possesses a slight edge in the boxing department. Both fighters have 8 wins in their career with 6 of those victories coming by TKO or knock-out so again it looks pretty even in the power department. Fatu appears to possess a significant advantage in the grappling department and if he can get this fight to the ground it looks like he could have his way with his opponent. Prediction: Fatu by 2nd round TKO

Robert Beckett (13-3) vs. Danyiel Nebi (9-1)

This is an excellent match-up between two very talented strikers both formerly of the Wake ‘N’ Bake alliance and two guys who train together on a regular basis when Robert Beckett takes on Danyiel Nebi. A replacement fighter who is making his 2nd appearance in the ITFL tournament Nebi looked good in his debut out-striking Daba to win a unanimous decision. Nebi possesses a slight boxing edge and has a 14cm reach advantage in this fight so I’d look for him to come forward leading with his head punches but still mixing in a fair amount of leg and body kicks. Beckett is no stranger to giving up an edge in the striking department but has managed to come up with some huge wins for Team BHP. He’s lost his last two fights however and needs to come up with another big win to avoid dropping 3 straight fights. This should be an entertaining fight and the winner will certainly have bragging rights over the other. Prediction: Nebi by 2nd round TKO

Tigran Badoyan (9-1) vs. Ugor Makinwa (13-1)

One of the most anticipated match-ups this week is between ITFL new-comer Ugor Makinwa who is 13-1 in his career and looked impressive in his ITFL debut knocking out Castiel Angel. His opponent tonight is our individual point’s leader Tigran Badoyan who is undefeated so far this season. Makinwa has excellent boxing ability and likes to lead with his hands when striking at range while mixing in good hard leg kicks. Makinwa is known for his unbelievable knock-out power, finishing all 13 of his career wins by TKO or knock-out which includes 11 in the very first round. He faces an excellent wrestler in Badoyan in this fight but Badoyan is making a bit of name for himself as a knock-out artist so far in the tournament with 4 of his 5 wins coming by TKO or knock-out while on the feet. If Badoyan can avoid the early power of his opponent and get this fight to the ground he has an excellent chance at winning this fight but if Makinwa comes out landing then look out. Prediction: Badoyan by 1st round TKO

Cornel Develution (4-3) vs. Salvator Lucania (2-2)

The next fight is an interesting clash of styles as elite boxer Cornel Develution takes on BJJ black-belt Salvator Lucania. A replacement fighter Lucania is just 1-2 so far in the tournament and will look to get his record back above the .500 mark with a victory in this fight. Lucania is an aggressive striker who really mixes up his punches and kicks well. Despite his excellent BJJ pedigree Lucania has never shot for a takedown in his career so one has to wonder if he lacks the wrestling skills to get the fight to the ground or if his BJJ is purely defensive. Develution should hold a significant advantage if his opponent does indeed lack the wrestling to get the fight to the ground. Cornel doesn’t throw an abundance of kicks into his game-plan but he has ridiculously good boxing skills and the knock-out power to back it up. Prediction: Develution by 3rd round TKO

Luis Garavito (11-3) vs. Tim Smith (6-3)

An interesting match-up between two well-rounded fighters who are both coming from well-known camps. Tim Smith appears to have the striking edge on paper but with 3 knock-out losses already in his 9 fight career he looks like he maybe a little chinny and has struggled when fighting guys who possess the power to finish him. Smith has rebounded with 3 straight wins over equally talented strikers after dropping his first two fights of the tournament so it’s possible he and his manger are gelling a bit more. Garavito possesses a small advantage in the boxing department and while he isn’t in the same class of kicker as Smith he doesn’t appear to lack that ability altogether so this could be an interesting scrap on the feet. I think Garavito has the power to get to Smith’s chin and it’ll be interesting to see if he comes out swinging or tries to out-point his opponent instead. Garavito has also shown a bit of offensive wrestling in his arsenal so don’t be shocked if he switches things up with a takedown. Prediction: Garavito by 3rd round TKO

Vinnie Vincent (9-5) vs. Peter Taphorn (9-3)

The next fight is a great match-up between two BJJ black-belts who are both 4-1 to this point in the tournament. Technically Vinnie Vincent has only earned 3 of his victories but a no-contest caused by his opponent afforded him a forfeit victory and the full 3 points. Vincent is decent striker who throws lots of punches to the head while mixing in leg kicks to wear down opponents and set up his takedowns. Vincent is excellent at passing the guard once he’s on top of his opponent and he’s also very accurate with his ground strikes as he wears down his foe and attempts to set up his submission game. Vincent has 6 wins by submission in his career and he is a handful for anyone on the ground. Taphorn has been wrestling his way to victory so far in the tournament so it’ll be interesting to see how he deals with an equally talented wrestler who possesses a significant striking advantage over him. It was a little suprising to see Taphorn lose by submission last week and you have to wonder if that could mean trouble for him against a guy with 6 sub victories in his career. Prediction: Vincent by Unanimous decision

Julian Knight (6-3) vs. Castiel Angel (12-4)

The next fight is between two of our more active trash-talkers as Julian Knight takes on Castiel Angel in a match-up between two very well-rounded fighters who are tied at 8 points apiece in the individual standings. Julian Knight is a kick-boxer who mixes his strikes up well on the feet while trying to close the distance and secure the takedown. Knight is excellent at dictating where fights take place landing on 68% of his career takedown attempts while stuffing 78% of his opponent’s attempts. He faces a very talented wrestler in this fight who pushes forward behind his hands on the feet while also trying to get the fight to the mat. Angel isn’t nearly as successful with his takedown attempts only landing on 39% of his attempts during his career but he has never been taken down in his 16 fight career. Angel also has excellent knock-out power in his hands finishing 9 of his 12 fights by TKO or knock-out and that could be worrisome for Knight who has lost all 3 of his fights by stoppage due to strikes. Prediction: Knight by unanimous decision

Colin Croft (7-0) vs. James Burke (6-0)

The next fight is one of the most anticipated fights of the season as 2 of the 3 undefeated fighters left in the tournament square off. These two guys are not only un-defeated in the ITFL tournament but also in their career so somebodies 0 has got to go in this fight. Colin Croft is undoubtedly a monster on paper and looks to possess a significant striking advantage in this fight as he pushes forward mixing up his punches and kicks well while searching for the knock-out. Burke is a well-rounded striker but nowhere near in Croft’s class so he should look to get this fight to the ground as quickly as possible. Luckily for Burke that is his specialty as he’s landed on 71% of his takedown attempts during his career. If he can get this fight to the ground he should have the advantage as he tries to wear Croft down with ground strikes to help set up his submission game. Croft has never been taken down in his career so that’ll be no easy task and if he can keep this fight on the feet he should have no problem dismantling his opponent. Prediction: Croft by Majority decision
