Mass Mail

I think the mods (or someone trusted, either way) should have the ability to send out mass mails for certain forum topics to get more people involved. It was asked multiple times last year for a mail to be sent out about voting and noms for end of year awards but nothing ever happened.

- End of year awards? Send a mass mail

- New tournament? Send a mass mail

- New ep of the podcast? Send a mass mail

etc, etc

What are peoples thoughts?

I've seen them in the past to where mike would send them out. Probably just have to message him and ask.

One of the reasons for the thread was the 0 response received from Mike when he was asked multiple times to mass mail about the EOY awards. Both voting and nominations.

Not for every tournament, podcast or forum thread started. But once or twice a year sure, would be enough to remind people who are not active that there are things going on here.

Not for every thread obviously but receiving a message saying there's a tourney starting would be appreciated by many I'm sure and may even boost numbers

Not really, but if you send out too many people will be less inclined to actually read them. I you follow site news and forum posts like most other active players you already get everything from there. So they would have more effect when you know a mail announcement means something significant is going on.

The announcement would be significant I believe. It's not like tournaments are popping up everywhere these days. And it would only be 1 message for the start of one. Same as the podcast, Jordan says maybe he can do 2 a month. That's not a lot of messages. End of year awards are exactly that. I don't see the problem honestly.

Currently or previously? Cause less than nothing is still nothing

we were getting like six or seven on the same issue. I gave up on them after I wrote some things and the editors decided not to put it in multiple times.

I enjoy the podcast as well. But playing devil's advocate, where do you draw the line and how do you determine what is "worthy" of these mailings? I mean, technically, the podcast is really the same as any org's event previews. Or a privately run venture for sponsorship money, no different than somebody hocking their wares in any forum really. Yes, I realize the podcast is something new and definitely a unique take, but I'm certain you can see what I'm saying. It's not an official posting from the game itself. Frankly neither are tournament items either unless they're being run by Mike.

My point is, unless you can clearly define rules around what is worthy and what isn't, and not leave it up to somebody's subjective point of view, then I like many others would simply have the emails go to my junk folder...and you'd probably get a bit of grumbling from those folks who had their efforts deemed "not worthy".

Absolutely some sort of guidelines would be needed. I just feel this is an idea that could possibly not only boost forum activity but community interest and interaction as well.

I like it... I know that when I was going to put on a KT tourney that all the managers I searched for and messaged personally didn't know about it because they hadn't visited the forum...A lot of managers miss out on the chance to participate in this and for some it could pay big dividends if they only knew.
