How can I help?

So there's been some discussion about the lack of activity within the game of late. We've had several managers go MIA and orgs are scrambling to keep up with the constant inactivity of champs and contenders. I've been so busy the past couple of months I haven't noticed it beyond how it effected me in the HFC.

Now that I have more time to put into the game, I see how drastic this really is. The lack of forum activity, the lack of new fighter creation, and so on. The Covid pandemic has taken it's toll on us all, and on the game too it would seem. Along with the fact that everyone (myself included) seems to be making project fighters and letting them train for 2-3 months minimum, so there's much less creation of 25 YO's and etc.

I can't go out and make people play the game, but I can do what I can to make those around me more entertained by the game. So for fighters in HFC, or the Syndicate alliance, I will be trying to find new ways to keep things interesting. Rather it be tournaments, giveaways, contests, or whatever.

So my question to the entire MMA community, and one that I think all of us should ask, how can I help? What can we do, as a community or as individuals, to help turn this thing around? Let's just assume that we're going to have a smaller manager base for a while yet. This will most likely not entice Mike to keep tweaking and developing the game, and we don't have enough of an impact on getting new players to join. So what can we do to keep those of us still around entertained?

I would love to hear your opinions and suggestions, and maybe we can come up with some nifty ideas to have a little fun within the Tycoon universe so that we don't lose interest and walk away too. There's no doubt in my mind the game will pick up again as the rest of the world starts to get back to some form of normality, but until then, it's really up to use to keep the game alive.

So lets do it!

You are already running an org. I think org owners are the people who carry this game, so keep doing that

I have been a bit inactive myself lately, but still here. There has been some quality writing lately here on the forums, that is one of the things I currently enjoy most about the game. Tournaments are always fun.

Maybe there should be an org that only allows newly created fighters with an age of 25..A fight now type of org? Host some big tournaments and fight fight fight.

Something like this is very doable, booking fights every two weeks (for injuries). A start up funds for this type of org wouldn't take much either. If there were some interest, I'd be willing to contribute funds to the start up of a company like that, and create a fighter for it. Probably would need to be an open weight only division or something unless very popular.

Just turn one of the island orgs into this. For example Gladius (just because it seems to be the most successful). After the season, only accept those who are/were 25yo creations. This is how the very successful Highland Games of yesteryear was born.

All those 360K 25 year olds could transition here now that they are in the process of being left behind by projects.

That sounds like a hell of a lot of fun actually. I would be FAR more likely to keep the 25 year old Island fighters I have if they had somewhere to go fight afterwards.

Just out of interest, how long did that org run? Do you know if it ran into any problems with recruiting down the line?

Good questions

It will need a startup fund as mentioned and a dedicated manager (Island orgs are usually 2x per week) in case the current owner wishes to move onto other ventures.

I was actually thinking about something similar but instead it involved starting early and having Monsieur Wonder and Zola start advertising to their hespective rosters about moving their most succesful fighters to Empire or one of the new 360k orgs that just opened.

I planned on dropping off your undisputed #1 fighter somewhere in the main land to do my part: http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=361954

I think honestly this will still be the course of action but if an org owner wants to open a Highlands clone I am not against it.

My good friend Shad Dao has plenty of room at Hulkballa 360k and the top 20% would be very succesful for another 2 Tycoon years. This owuld have been my preferred destination followed by reinforcing Empire with Serrano perfectly running so far with a small roster.

The more I think about it the more I think this is the direction we will go. Happy to see Red agrees with meh.

It ran for over two years, most of that was off the island. The primary mode of recruitment was the island. They would get a steady supply of 25yos after every season.

I think it ended when the owner lost interest/left the game but I don't remember exactly.

Highland org is something really really cool. I have always admired them as I learned a bit about sliders with their biggest star Mase Force. He also had all of the legends shirts so that was the inspiration for becoming Tri-Champ and to get Chris Steve to where he is.

Their first event had a bigger rating than any of my events so far, even FARTMMA 100 and FARTMMA vs Underground so that is impressive.

Highland Games 100 was even more impressive (ratingwise): https://www.mmatycoon.com/orgeventpublic.php?EvID=838661

Highland Games 200 did 961.20 ratings PPV! : https://www.mmatycoon.com/orgeventpublic.php?EvID=860533

That is incredible.

I will be running some numbers by some POWERFUL frens and be back with more info.

I might be interested in running a 25 year old creation org.

Not sure if the system will allow you as you are employed by another org.

In order fo rthis to work we will need the following:

1- Alignment between Island current org owners

2- The support of the managers with top fighters on the island (to either bring over and fight or bring over and drop)

3- NUMERO UNO: Other org owners not sending ridic contracts to Hyped Island fighters asa they touch mainland

It`s gonna be an interesting group effort but the good managers outweight the toxic ones in 2020, I believe it can be done.

I loved Highland Games. Amazing org. It had everything from the write-ups to the poster to a great owner.

I had the privilege to be in there since the beginning and until the end with Massimo Benvenuti (champ at 185lb), Vitaly Karelin and Patrick Seery (champ at 135lb, won the island season).

Thanks to their HW tournament I was able to get my first VIP account.

I won it with Vitaly Karalin, who was later brutalized by the great of his era - Burney Gamble, Phil Hellmut Jr and Mase Force

The owner was really dedicate and always did what he could to involve the managers and make the game fun for everyone. The org skyrocketed in terms of hype but sadly he had to close it due to real life work

The owner was this great guy: http://www.mmatycoon.com/managerprofilemanager.php?MgrID=93705

Or how about we give everyone the option?

  • Managers to decide what they want to do with their fighters
  • Org owners to decide on competition structure/compensation

Why so afraid of a free market?

I don`t think anybody is afraid of a free market.

We are simply brainstorming an idea (25 yr old competition) and putting on the table the real challenges.

Feeding Island Hype to young 350/360k prospects is bad for not just the 360k bracket but for the game in general.

The Island offers new managers the oportunity to compete on equal grounds against the best managers in the game. No outside $, no private gyms, etc.

I can speak from personal experience, the Island was what hooked me on this game. Competing agains Ivan Drago`s monsters, Rei`s grapplers (when he used to roll them), etc. before I could build me proper projects is what really captured my attention.

I have been saying it for the longest time, elite managers have to be willig to take L`s on the Island to grow the game. Of course most elite managers don`t even test vs other managers out of fear of losing Hype. So to answer your own question: Why so afraid to lose period?

Not everybody is a Bjornson or a Heavyheavyweight dude but you want more guys like this one:

http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=318098

If all we do is feast on Island Hype we drive these 1st time managers out of the game. It`s not even that we show them they are not good, we simply put them in a lose-lose situation the moment the young projects wreck them due to faster learning ad primaries.

I believe we can properly transfer 70-80% of Island fighters to an org. But it will take a team effort.

The idea is already there. I shared the precedent.

People didn't come to Highland because they were compelled to, which is basically what you're calling for vis-a-vis collusion between org owners, they came because it was a good, well run org.

Collusion is a big word. But you are not using it properly, allow me to expand:

Nobody can force managers to click that box and bring their fighters to the mainland. As a matter of fact most managers (take myself for example) are looking to get my 3 Island spots back to roll new projects.

That means a good portion of Island fighters, great Hype or no Hype will be left behind like every year.

Teamwork is the word you are looking for, like Brawls releasing his double champ to try and chase a 3rd belt at Gladius: http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=362393

That is what teamwork is all aboot. I should know it, he just kicked my arse a few weeks ago and next Kirill is fighting Scotty`s undefeated beast lol. I`d love to hear about "easy" fights on the Island lolol

But in order for Teamwork to work we will need established orgs to not send 25k/25k/25k or 50k/50k/50k type contracts to top Island finishers ir order to syphon their Hype to the fighters/managers of their choice.

We can all agree bringing (from scratch or from Island) a Highlands type org back to life is a great idea. It will get newer managers to stick to the game and buy / trade VIP.

I am simply addressing the elephant in the room.

I will now write to both Island managers and run this idea by them. I will post word for word my email so I can lead the way via full transparency.

You gonna need Google just like you did to try to sound smart (and failed) with vis-a-vis and collution for my coms with Wonder as we speak our mother tongue between us.

Sincerely,

Your Tri-Champ

Ill keep ya updated, im either making a new ID restricted org/open ID/25 year old builds. Im not in a hurry and also still considering all options.

No worries bros, you are a good guy and indeed we still have a ways to go before end of Island :)

Always do whatever makes you happy first and foremost, it is the difference between doing something longterm or just building it and dumping it after 6 months like so many managers here do.
