I said he could use that one for a PA and nothing else. I don't find it funny.

And I'm perfectly fine with those ones you have linked - they all use significant sections of avatar face... A nose and eyes taken as a mask is clearly using avatar. If I could be bothered, I could probably look through the avatars and find which ones were used for each.

However, you have e.g. these pending now;

15875905728990.gif15872482308290.png15873007217967.gif15873908186646.png15875009698406.png

Can anyone tell me which avatars these use? Like I say, they look like they've been worked on but it could be just drawing dots on the eyes or taking a nose from some other site... That's the difference.

As I say, even if I moved the cutoff to being more avatary, there still has to be a cutoff somewhere and people will complain if they fall just the wrong side of it. At least with the bar set fairly low, there's a LOT of room to shoot at and clearly get accepted.

Anyway, I'm gunna make a page with examples from 10 to 1 of "acceptable levels of avataryness" with maybe 5 being the cut off. I'll rank some examples from good to bad and the general point will be "if you try and make a 6 and I think it's a 4, don't get pissed off; just make a 10 in the first place".

THIS, exactly.

I think you're missing the point of this discussion. People aren't arguing the "requirements" of how an avatar should look. What upsets everyone is your inconsistency w/ what you accept and what you reject. If you disagree, I can find plenty of examples with avatars done a certain style/look that got rejected, and then done in the exact same manner that got accepted.

Kai Greene was clearly avatar first time submited.

Here is the base if Im not mistaken. I enlarged the nose a little bit to cover the background nose tho, but its still the avatar nose:

There are hundreds of Khabib avatar that WERENT EVEN PHOTOSHOPPED accepted.

THats not borderline.

If you cant understand THAT is the reason of me going aggro, or the fact that I went aggro because you started with passive aggressive shit like "Yeah, I think the frostbite nose is a no" and "Your avatar is shit, go hit the forums", then all the bullshit coming to is well deserved. As a PAYING CUSTOMER not needing to deal with this shit, I tried telling you firsthand I had HEALTH ISSUES that made photoshoping a little harder and I just could use more insightful cues, and you KEPT sending bullshit answers.

No there aren't.... And you got arsey with me straight out the bat. I told you the nose was green. You argued that it was fine and linked me to a load of other avatars. I only told you your avatar was shit after several messages of you giving me abuse acting like they were good. I just went to copy and paste the conversation but it's been deleted.

Anyway in general I'm gunna check out of this thread. As I've said, I will post a more detailed guideline page in the next couple of days. It's up to all of you if you follow it or not.

That nose could be any nose from the internet and the eyes just look like dots. You can find what you used because you made it. You couldn't tell me where any of the other ones come from.

Take a face mask from the bottom of the nose to above the eyebrows, including the cheeks. Try and blend the edge of that in and match the colours and it would be all good.

Your first answers were LITERALLY:

"Green nose is a no"

"Frostbite nose is not the way too sorry"

And when I submited asking why you replied

"your messages are getting annoying"

Would be less annoying if you just answered

"Hue saturation is not right for the nose, try to fix the curve level"

"Base avatar nose is too black and doesnt fit the picture, try another nose"

and we could understand what to expect.

Im not your hoe. Everybody here paying for VIPs and extra fighters are customers.

Nice argument.

Wow, just noticed there was a whole page in this topic I missed, honestly I was thinking the same thing as Alex suggested when I said I'd reject most of the examples posted - given the guidelines posted I wouldn't even allow the borderlines to be accepted. I think over the years we've seem to have taken a mile on this one.

Subject : Avatar Rejected

Unfortunately the avatar you submitted has been rejected. Please make sure you follow the guidelines on the wiki with regards avatar creations. If you would like to know any more info on why your avatar was rejected, please reply to this message.

Note: just not quite avatary enough.

----------------------------------------------------------------

The eyes, nose, mouth, ... all from a tycoon avatar.

A perfectly fine avatar and 300% better than the shit that has been accepted and pointed out by others previously on this thread.

But yeah: after 3 weeks pending, the standard ' just not quite avatary enough.' was sent.

Thank you Mike for keeping a loyal and paying customer 3 weeks pending, just to send your standard shitty message and then complain afterwards that you have too many avatars to accept/reject. Each avatar costs us VIP days when accepted, so you should be glad that so many avatars are submitted, instead of complaining.

We, the paying customers, put effort into this game, while the game owner....

PS: I'm going to pay the avatar creator now his 500k (bought on auction), as I do not blame him for this avatar being rejected after 3 weeks.
A costly joke thanks to you Mike, but Hare Rumpler is not to blame and HE has actually put a lot of time and effort into this...

Guide page is up.

https://www.mmatycoon.com/avatarguidelines.php

To an extent, I do empathize with people's frustration regarding criteria, given that there has not been a full guide and I have responded mostly on an individual basis or in threads like this. Hopefully that is now clear.

I have said time and time again that it needs to look like an avatar and it does not matter whether something looks good or not.... That has never been the point, beyond a basic, acceptable level of quality.

I would really appreciate it if we could move away from the really aggressive and / or toxic levels of abuse I get from quite a few people when I reject avatars, now, hopefully, there is a comprehensive guide in place... If you get rejected now, you are flat out ignoring this guide. It is not hard to get an avatar passed.

Appreciate you putting up a guide but for me it still doesn't clear up much. Clearly you want avatars to look like the stock images you choose on creation which is your prerogative as the owner of the site. That would be the first thing I don't understand. Why is this the case? Is there a reason for it or is that just your personal preference. I ask because it seems most people dislike them and much prefer a photo realistic image for a paid avatar.

Secondly, some of what you posted is still very subjective to me. The second image which is a 10/10 looks pretty much the same (in style/same editor) as one you have down as a 4/10 (and by your own admission previously passed. To me that is kind of proof enough that you yourself can't make decisions on this on a consistent basis).

Not looking to get into an argument about it and I'm honestly not bitter (even after having had a good few avatars rejected) I'm just a little bemused because, in my subjective opinion of course, I should have had a couple of those approved by the standards of this guide. Hence for me, this still isn't all that clear.

*Edited*

Also don't think it's right to say that you can't use evidence of previously passed avatars that score as a 4 and below as evidence just because they blow this guide apart. The fact is they were passed and by yourself so you must have had reason to do so at the time?

OK, so for the 4/10, try and find the avatar that's used in making those face parts. That's an easyish example of where the cutoff point should be, because I couldn't tell you what avatar that is from. However, I just looked through the list of avatars for about 2 minutes and the one I labelled as a perfect example, I think it's made with this one.

15782164047166.jpg7w12.jpg

If you think they're similar, then yep, that's why we do have issues with perception. I will move that down the list a couple of spots below the ones which are just pasted on faces.

To elaborate; the one which I've labelled as a 4, has had soooooo much realism / skin tone work put into it, that if you asked someone random / nothing to do with this game, "do you recognise this guy?" then they wouldn't think twice about it just being a photo of a real person. To be obviously getting passed, you need the response to be a double take, followed by "that's not a real person, is it?"

"Custom avatars should look like they contain a large amount of original avatar. If it looks like it could just be a photo, even if it HAS used our avatars, it will get rejected - it needs to look "avatary". This is more important than the quality of the design work, but poorly executed avatars will still be rejected."

That has been on the avatar submission page for a significant amount of time, yet people are still trying to submit avatars that don't look like avatars, then getting mad when they don't get accepted. I appreciate that some people don't like the avatar style. That's fine. They were made in 3D Max, 12 years ago... They're not exactly cutting edge. However, there is still so much scope to do a nice avatar using them. If I were to just allow photorealistic images that didn't look like they used avatars, then why even bother? Just let people use any old image for their fighters... I don't want to do that. Therefore, my cut off is and has always been "make it look like it uses some avatar". That obviously wasn't emphatic enough, so here's the guide.
