Sucker Punch Pro Series (Unrestrained) Opens in Sydney

Just a heads up folks...we lost power at work yesterday due to some storms and I was on site till 3 am bringing things back online. Back at work this morning on 2 hours sleep, so a little behind on the review from Wednesday's card. I WILL get this done, no excuses, but it may take until tomorrow morning once I've had some sleep finally. Hang in there folks! And thank you so much to our managers for everything!

This week just keeps getting better and better. We have had no internet service now for close to a day at my house. It still has not been restored. I really can't do the reviews or previews without it from my phone, as that would be ridiculously painful. I'm hoping it will be restored sometime early today, in which case I will catch up probably at the very last minute.

I did not have any Internet for 3 days straight a couple weeks back due to a cyclone in my place, and the same bloody thing happened, I couldn't do the preview or reviews that I had promised to some other owners (doubly bad). So I can feel you man, and hope it comes back soon.As I really like to read your writeups.

Post Event Cheap Shots

WElterweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Round 2

Well, the night has come and gone down undah Sucker Punch fans!!! And what a night it as, ending in a huge upset and shocking performance that sent the fans in attendance into a craze! I’m Hare Rumpler and I’m thrilled to revisit our Welterweight card from last night with you along with Donkey “Dan”, and Suzy Sucker Punch, media correspondent extraordinaire!

Donkey, not too much in the way of cheap shots and sucker punches last night, but that didn’t leave me disappointed as much as I love that below the belt fun! No, this was a Welterweight crew where the camps talked plenty leading up to the fights, and while some backed up the talk, some fell short and others silently went in and just shoved the words right back in their faces!

Over 5500 screaming fans came out for a partially cloudy, cool, but electric night in the Bondi Outdoor Arena! Outstanding night of action, that’s all I can say. There’s really no other way to approach this than to lead with that, and head on in to see what happened!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Shadow Warrior Nutrition was on site for the fun as well, handing out there usually bag upon bag of swag and goodies. You’ve heard me say it, and let me say it real quick one more time, with Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q you are getting the best energy loss reduction supplement available on the market. Period. I don’t have to say more, if you want the most from your fighters all week long, training session after training session, then you need to be using this for your fighters every single day. Get some, slap it on em in the Possessions tab, and watch them spend more time training, less time sitting! You won’t be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #1

Thanos Reigns Defeats Darren Thomson via TKO (Knees)

Thomson and Reigns started things off for us and it couldn’t have gone any more like we called for and expected! Right down to Donkey calling the winner and almost how as well!

Thomson absolutely, positively, without a doubt had his chance in this one! As a matter of fact, he had more than one, he had TWO chances if you count them by rounds spent on the ground. We knew he’d want to get to the ground and go for a sub. And avoid Reigns’ powerful and dangerous hands in the process. Well, he got to the ground right from the bell! He even got a sub attempt in. Then, surprisingly, Reigns took it to him from the bottom and was the one actively trying to get the subs, five attempts to be exact, keeping Thomson busy defending!

Second round, Thomson gets the takedown again right away after thwarting a clinch attempt by Reigns. We knew Reigns would want to get into the clinch and use that to abuse Thomson, but what we didn’t know is that he also planned to take it to Thomson on the ground, once again going for the first sub attempt. It didn’t work, but it certainly put Thomson on the defensive. After a failed one by Thomson, the rest of the round was…well, quite boring, a lot of controlling going on, I think by that point Thomson had gassed due to fending off so many sub attempts from the bottom by Reigns and constantly trying to better his position.

Third round, and now the game was truly afoot! The effects of the prior two rounds were starting to take their toll and now had Thomson set up right where Reigns wanted him. Thomson failed at his immediate takedown attempt this time, most likely due to fatigue and slowing down…and that allowed Reigns to impose his will and push it into the clinch. Trouble time for Thomson! A very tired Thomson now was unable to defend and started taking plenty of abuse, leading to the eventual big knees crashing upward from below…and badabing, badaboom, down goes Thomson!

Donkey, surprised in any way…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Not surprised by the result, no. Surprised by how long this one went and the path it took? Yes. With Thomson coming in low on energy and morale, I didn’t think he’d be able to hang as long as he did. And honestly, I didn’t think he’d get the takedowns. However, he did get them. But, this is where I think the morale and energy played in, he wasn’t able to capitalize like he should have. Ultimately, this one ended up right where I thought it would, just in the third rather than the first. Congrats to Reigns on not only persevering to get the win, but holding his own on the ground!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #2

Luka Marka Defeats Alex Driver via KO (Strikes)

Alright guys, so I’m back to writing after a couple day’s break, I’m sorry that some of this is going to start to be somewhat shorter (maybe, haha, if I can help myself!) than normal…but I’m trying to get to the preview for tonight’s even as well! Now, on with the show!

These two came out full of steam, both with full energy and morale! You have to love that, it usually makes for some fantastic sparks flying!Donkey went with his gut for a pick in a very tough fight to call, but came out on the wrong end of it! And that’s not a bad thing, it means it was a tough, good match to put together.

We knew that for Driver, who Donkey thought would take the W, the key was to win this standing up and prevent the takedown. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what he failed to prevent, as right from the bell, he went with a lazy head kick that left him wide open for the counter takedown! As my vet leaders at Yabai always say, watch those head kicks, they can leave you wide open! One Marka had Driver on the ground, this one was trouble for Driver. Marka initiated “Operation Pound Yo Face” and started delivering blows and elbows! Once he got into mount though, this one was all but over…that was a really bad position for Driver…and moments later, he was rocked, and then finished as the strikes just started pouring down!

Donkey, anything to say…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Marka has some serious GnP capability, and clearly going forward every opponent is either going to have to be extremely confident in their ground game against him, or be able to finish the thing and prevent takedowns in the first place. For Driver, he failed to do that and paid the price with that counter takedown he allowed. He’ll bounce back, better prepared to defend and win in future fights!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #3

Kahdi Mandinos Defeats Hugh Saber via Submission (Armbar)

Well, Donkey may have wiffed on the call last fight, but he nailed this one. Maybe not the kimura, but certainly the winner via submission.

The key here seemed to be exactly what Donkey called, which was that based upon prior fights Saber’s takedown defense looked like it may not be quite ready yet. Mandinos certainly wanted a takedown, and wasted no time doing so with a counter on the very first punch thrown by Saber. Saber actually offered up a token sub attempt, but the ground game here and BJJ battle was always going to go to Mandinos if it ended up on the canvas due to his combination of wrestling and BJJ. Sure enough, just shy of 4 minutes that’s exactly what happened after a bit of jostling around for position and a few little sub attempts over three minutes. But it was finally the armbar that got Saber after Mandinos was able to isolate and violate it!

A good sub victory for Mandinos, much like the fight prior to this, Saber is going to have to bone up on those takedowns most likely, or enhance his combination of defensive grappling, transitions and/or escapes.

Donkey …?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Just what you said Hare…well, just what you repeated from me more like it! Sometimes I think I should get paid for your job too the way you just steal from me! Anyways, this was a valuable fight for both young fighters as they learned a little more about what might be working now, what might not be, and what they need to work on next. Congrats to Mandinos, way to prove me right kid!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #4

Whaddaboutt Bob Defeats Rayne Dame via TKO (Strikes)

Whaddaboutt that Donkey! Bob there sure showed you! You said with that low morale it wasn’t looking too hot for him, but despite coming in with focus less than ideal he still managed to finish this one in under three minutes!

We thought Dame would try to get this one to the ground, but that never actually happened. No, I don’t mean that he couldn’t get Bob to the ground, I mean that he never actually tried. Instead, Dame decided to go toe to toe with Bob…and that didn’t end too well. Dame stuck with mostly attempts at the head with a couple combos. Unfortunately, Bob’s defense was up to the task of defending against that one dimensional attack, and on the flip side, he was more than willing to mix it up between the head and body.

Keeping Dame off guard with that mixed attack seemed certainly paid off as eventually Bob found him with a big right hand that had him down on one knee and unable to defend the onslaught that Bob then began to rain down before the ref called a stop to things!

Donkey, how about it...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I got this one wrong, that’s for sure. This one wasn’t a case of one fighter wearing down and getting gassed and leaving themselves unable to defend. No, this one was a case of a well placed right that got through and showed the power to stun and end it. Call it a lucky shot if you like, call it a skillfully placed one, whatever you want, but Bob got the best of the stand up in this one and being that this stayed where he wanted it to, it kind of played into his hands!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #5

Chaz Campbell Defeats Tik Tok via KO (Punch)

Well, Donkey may be about .500 on his calls so far from this card, but this one will certainly have him over there grinning like the Ass, er, I mean, Cat, that ate the canary. Not only did he make the call for the victor, and the decision, but via exactly a KO (Punch) as well. Damn I hate when he gets lucky! Ha, he’s going to hate that, calling him “lucky”!

Campbell may have been paying attention to our preview and specifically Donkey’s take on what would be needed for Tok to win this. Because he seemed very prepared. From the bell, Tok went in for the takedown, and Campbell was waiting to yell “Ole!”. And then bam, Campbell took it into the clinch, where he took control and continued to stifle Tok’s takedown attempts. In the meantime, Campbell began the process of adding the salt, pepper and tenderizing Tok.

Tok, desperate to get this to the ground which would be necessary for a chance at victory, continued to fall short on those attempts, and eventually Campbell, upon sensing that Tok was prepped and ready for the frying pan…broke from the clinch and delivered that pan in the form of a nasty uppercut that rocked Tok…and set him up for the big finale, a counter right that sent his opponent Tickity Tocking into next week!

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

You’re really hitting on all points today Hare, just like Campbell was in this match! Campbell’s takedown defense, both in and out of the clinch, was definitely up to task and he should be proud of that. For Tok, he’s probably going to need to work on that speed, strength or takedown offense, whichever combination of those is lacking that kept him from having the success he needed. Congrats on an all-around win for Campbell and showing that he’s ready for next level competition!

Welterweight CSS Round 2: #4 vs. #5

DJ Costune Defeats Sean MacCarthy via TKO (Strikes)

Back and forth we go, with Donkey getting one, and then failing to call the next! He got the last one, so yep, that’s right, he failed on this one! And that’s going to bug him a bit I’m sure, since this one here was the first of the Round 2 Sorter Series matches on this card!

These two both had similar skills and we were expecting a ground battle to test those skills along with heart, intelligence and ability to cash in on opportunities when they were presented! And sure enough, pretty much right away MacCarthy went for the takedown. Costune stuffed it, but that wasn’t the end of MacCarthy’s angles on this…as he moved to the clinch, and then successfully pulled off a takedown from there! So yes, the stage was set early…or so we thought!!! Surprisingly, MacCarthy then…um, stood up! *whiplash on the head whip here...* Say what?!?!

Yep, sure did. And then immediately went back to takedown attempts, which was really freaky. I gotta tell ya folks, I really could not figure out what was going on with the strategy on this one…it was perplexing!

So while MacCarthy went about continuing to try to achieve more takedowns and gassing out in doing so…and failing…Costune was like “um, ok, well, let me hit you upside your friggin’ crazy ass head man!”. And he did. A few times, but not a ton, as he was intent upon throwing combos that mostly weren’t landing. Folks…this was one strange fight. I gotta tell ya!

Finally though, one of those combos landed just right…rocking MacCarthy…and setting him up for a solid uppercut that would put an end to this insanity!

Donkey you were wrong. This whole thing was wrong. The world seemed wrong, eh…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Hare, I’m just going to pretend this entire thing didn’t happen. It’s like these two basically came out here planning to punk us with a goof off contest, and then after close to four minutes Costune accidentally, or possibly in a moment of double cross, popped MacCarthy. Well, I’d like to pop both of them upside the back of their heads with a Gibbs’ slap! Hahaha!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Donkey, I don’t know if you heard it or not, but did you catch what DJ had to say at the mic immediately following the finish? Maybe he wasn’t in on the shenanigans after all and most of the goofing around was on MacCarthy, because first, he didn’t seem to appreciate your pick for the fight, and second, he seemed pretty serious about things!

An intense looking DJ Costune took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech…

DJ Costune: If Donkey don't put more respect on my name! He's gonna know what kind of punishment I can do!'

Suzy Sucker Punch: So I’m thinking he was out there to prove something to you and move on to the next round. You may have to let him off the hook for the horsing around…and just take it up with MacCarthy! Ha!

Welterweight CSS Round 2: #11 vs. #14

John Fuller Defeats Andrey Nikonov via Submission (Strikes)

Our second Sorter Series bracket battle of the night, this one did NOT disappoint Donkey! You had said this would be a back and forth battle between Nikonov and Fuller and while it could end quickly, it was going to be a display of prowess and skill, potentially with both on the ground…and boy was it!

This did go to the ground, early, and often, for over two and a half rounds! Back and forth, sub attempt here, sub attempt there, not by one, but by both of these warriors…and striking thrown in by both, but a lot of it by Fuller who was definitely working the GnP angle!

The fans didn’t seem to appreciate this fight and the rating came in mediocre. But sometimes I disagree with the fans, and while they may not see the intricacies of a fight, and are looking for that blazing crazy type of action that ends in a BOOM, this one to me was more a strategic and skilled chess match between two very dangerous competitors!

Ultimately though, after all of the rolling around, all of the sub attempts, with Nikonov definitely being more focused in that area…Fuller got the mount, and that was trouble! Down came the rain…more like a torrential downpour…and it was only a matter of time before Nikonov was rocked and then Nikonov gave up his back…oh my…and that was the end…with Fuller really laying in at that point with the strikes from behind. Wow! What a finish, what a fight!

Donkey, exciting for you too, or you agree with the fans…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

It was awful, the fans were absolutely correct. Ha, I kid, I’m just bitter I got the pick wrong! No, this was definitely a great fight, but you do have to see it from the fans perspective as well. While those two are down there in the middle rounds of things and jostling for position, maneuvering and playing that chess match, it can appear pretty boring for the average fan in attendance. Sure, some of them appreciate the interplay there, but a lot just see it as wasted time. I can assure you folks, it’s not, and I’m not going to lecture, but maybe someday you’ll see it for the masterful work it is!

Suzy wasn’t able to directly catch up with Nikonov after the fight. But we sent an inquiry over to his manager, and they sent this statement from Nikonov…

Andrey Nikonov: I want to apologize to the fans for my unimpressive performance. Everything went well for the first two rounds when I was on the attack and was keeping composure. In the third I was stuck in the position from which I couldn't get out and I couldn't help it. Well... I have to train my defensive skills as much as I train my attacks. I shouldn't have eaten those capitalistic thingies called waffles a day before the fight...

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, I’m not surprised at all that Nikonov wanted to go back and avoid the media immediately after the fight as I’m sure he was disappointed. But to me, it sounds like there may be a superstition against hotel “make em yourself” waffles from now on! Perhaps pancakes or french toast next time?!?

Welterweight CSS Round 2: #2 vs. #10

Malachi Routerhead Defeats Pietro Marchionni via Submission (Armbar)

Our third of four Sorter Series fights on this card, Donkey got this, one, just not the method of finish! Routerhead surprises everybody and shows us that, yep, he too can pull off a sub! Oh, and fairly quickly too, at just under two minutes into the first round!

When Marchionni got the takedown shortly into this fight, I thought, “My god, he may pull off one hell of an upset here! This is exactly what he’d need to do!”. But then things went sideways, at least for Marchionni!

And when I say sideways there Donkey, what I mean is…everybody had to start thinking to themselves, “Wait…not only does Router look like he’s comfortable on the bottom there, but he actually looks like he might be much more adept than any of us thought!”

Sure enough, while Marchionni was controlling position, getting a shot in here and there, and transitioning, Router was actually playing his own game…and damn, next think you know, he was going for an armbar outa nowhere! He didn’t get it, but it must have shocked Marchionni that that attempt came, because he left his other arm in a bad spot, and BAM!...Router had that one and before he knew it, Router had flipped over and Marchionni was screaming and tapping out!

It was absolutely stunning! Shocking…soooo shocking! Marchionni is probably still trying to figure out what happened and where it all went wrong a couple days later here I’d think. I know I would be!

Donkey, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

This was a HIGHLY impressive fight for Routerhead and should put the fear of god in every single fighter who faces him going forward, because he just proved he’s much more versatile than anybody thought. And we already thought he had skills. For Marchionni, this is disappointing, because it seemed like he was going to get a break, and possibly huge upset! And then suddenly, it was snatched from him, and in, as you said, a shocking way. Congrats to Routerhead and welcome to the semi-finals!

Suzy was standing by to catch Pietro Marchionni as he left the locker area…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Pietro, a disappointing loss tonight. Donkey had predicted a win for you, and I’m sure you felt confident you could prove him right. What happened in the cage?

Pietro Marchionni: Knew I had a fuckin mountain to climb, so my only game plan was to try and overwhelm him quick and hopefully knock him out. Well, the plan worked for 50% with me getting him down and managing some GnP, but my BJJ skills just could not match his, so my first loss is a reality. Promise to be back though and mark my word, you haven't seen the last of the Olympian yet.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Folks, a loss is always disappointing, but I think Pietro is going to take this one, turn it into motivation and come back stronger than ever by the sounds of it! We’ll look forward to seeing his next fight!

Co-Main Event

Welterweight Main Card Event

Rebel Sith (6-0-0) Defeats LetsAG DAFight via TKO (Strikes)

Our Co-Main Event…and yes, ho-hum, Donkey got the call right! But that’s all that was ho-hum in this 4:56 contest!

Honestly, this was a confusing fight, and it seems that DAFight wasn’t quite sure what path he wanted to take to victory. It almost seems like he was a bit too respectful of Sith’s abilities and to a degree, possibly even fought afraid. He tried two combos, landing one, three takedowns, succeeding once, but then…standing back up shortly after…

And then DAFight clinched. Which was the biggest mistake he could have made. Because while Sith was more active in the standup up till that point, he truly wasn’t landing much. DAFight could have had a shot if he’d picked up the pace and been more active potentially while separated. But once this thing moved to the clinch, Sith just flat out became abusive. He head punches were flying left and right, and while not a lot of them were landing, the ones that did were hella damaging.

And it was one of those big shots that dropped DAFight…after Sith had just dodged a big elbow to the head…and got caught off-guard with the uppercut that followed!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Well, DAFight was the underdog in this one, and it showed. He fought like he knew it too, and not in the way that somebody who carries it as a chip on their shoulder does. He fought scared. He fought indecisive. He fought to try to not lose, not to win. And ultimately, that was what led to losing. He’ll pick it up in the future, I’m sure! For Sith, he chalks another one up in the left hand column and moves to a very impressive 7-0! I suspect his next test will be one that determines where he stands in the ranks of the contenders that want a shot at the throne after the tournament belts our first champ!

Suzy caught up with Sith just before he could disappear into the dressing rooms following the fight…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Sith, Mr. Rebel…Mr. Rebel…Hi there! Great fight, I wanted to see how you felt about it and if it went exactly as your camp planned?

Sith Rebel: I know I was the favorite to win that fight, but my opponent showed tremendous heart out there. He had his chance with that takedown, but was unable to capitalize. Once I got back to my feet, I decided to make him pay. He brought the fight into the clinch and I wasn't sure I wanted to be there. But when he brought it back the second time I figured, what the hell, I'm going to finish this fool here and now. Despite my barrage of attacks, he went full defensive mode after I dazed him. I haven't seen the likes of that before, have to give him props. But don't expect me to let you out of a clinch if you want to clinch up to me. Once we're up close, I'm going to rain down hell on you until you until the ref decides to pull me off of you. For your sake, you better hope you're already asleep.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Respectful, but confident. You can’t really knock a man for that after a win! Back to you guys!

Main Event

Welterweight CSS Round 2: #1 vs. #8

Ronnie Bass Defeats Igor Vovchanchyn via TKO (Strikes)

Our Main Event folks!!! And WOW…just…WOW…I hope you were paying attention…I hope you were sitting down, no, wait, I know you were standing up…and screaming and yelling along with everybody else after this one!

Our #1 seed of the tournament, and the man who many firmly believed was destined for the finals…goes down! Goes down hard at the hands of a power punching, chip on the shoulder carrying, #8 seed who felt the respect hadn’t been given to him, the world didn’t judge him properly and the crowd was going to find out that they, and Donkey…were wrong…DEAD WRONG!

Igor himself had said before the fight that Bass hadn’t faced adversity yet. Hadn’t faced the next level of competition it was going to take to be ready for him. That his Bass’ KO’s were the result of inferior, “clean out the guys who only fight for a short time” fights. Well, I guess we can close the book on those thoughts, because nobody can say that now.

Igor is a man of skill and great prospects here in Sucker Punch. Bass went in to this fight to prove that he too belonged on that same pedestal and that both would be a force in this org! I won’t go over all the details of this fight, you guys should watch it if you weren’t there at the Bondi Outdoor Arena…but damn, this makes for some interesting stuff going forward!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I’m shocked, but not shocked. I’d have been shocked regardless someday when Vov finally lost another fight. To see Bass be the one to do it is not shocking. But to see it happen when we were so sure it probably wouldn’t, at least not the other night in this tournament, is what makes you go, “OMG, I saw that, do you remember when…!”. That’s what Bass did, he gave everybody a “Remember when” moment! Congrats to Bass, he now has a target on his back for the remainder of this tournament! And we haven’t seen the last of Igor!

Suzy was right there to speak with both a disappointed Igor and his manager as Igor exited the cage…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, I know that wasn’t what you, or many of the fans, had in mind for this fight. What’s going through your head at this time?

Igor Vovchanchyn: I was beaten by the better man on the day, but I am very, very disappointed.

PJ Jones: Great performance by Bass he definitely has some power. As for Igor we expected much more and to get KO'd like that is worrying. Unfortunately we have a very large roster at Far-Q and we cannot carry fighters unless they have potential to work up to open ID.

PJ Jones: He is a good learner with great skills but I feel that Igor might need to head back to the russian scene and free agancy once he has met his commitments to Sucker Punch Sorter Series. 1st Round KO loss is very concerning.

PJ Jones: Shout out to SP CEO, another great event, we love coming here to fight.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Shocking news guys, that a single loss like this could sour PJ Jones on a top contender. It’s a rough business…even rougher to make those comments with your fighter standing right there and still hurting over a big loss! Ruthless some might say!

Suzy also caught Ronnie ringside as he exited the cage, the victor and headed to the semi-finals…

Suzy Sucker Punch: And down goes the favorite!! Wow. Just...wow. What a fight for you, Ronnie! What’s going through your mind right now as you come out of the cage the victor and ready to go on to the semi-finals?

Ronnie Bass: Igor is a great fighter. He was the #1 seed for a reason. But I think I showed the fans here at Sucker Punch that a good clinch nipple twist can turn the tide of any fight! As for Mr. Jones, I respect the confidence you have in your fighters. I wouldn't be with my manager if he wasn't confident in me. But Sucker Punch fans, fighters, and managers. I'm Ronnie Bass and I'm here to whoop some ass! Anyone want to question who I've fought now? If so, step up and let’s get it done!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well, as Hare and Donkey always like to quote, the incomparable Rick Flair said, “To be the man, you gotta beat the man!” Well, Ronnie has beaten the man, so that makes him…the man! At least, until next fight!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Damn, did you see that? Did you see what happened? I love this crap, and I love that our fighters and their managers do it for SUCKER PUNCH! I hope you all enjoyed the card, the Welterweights definitely brought it this past week! It was our best rated event so far, and they only keep getting better!

Till next time folks…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Bonus Welterweight Bout

Red Crow (0-1-0) vs. Kribbson Johansson (1-0-1)

Our first fight of the evening will feature two young Welterweights who are both making their Sucker Punch debut with us on this card!

Red Crow has one fight under his belt which was most likely a simple test sparring match in the QFC. He is the more advanced Muy Thai fighter in this contest and comes in an extremely lean 165 lbs, also giving up 6 cm’s to his opponent, Kribbson Johansson.

Johansson is a boxing focused fighter who also has a very slight advantage in wrestling over his opponent, which potentially help him some if his opponent decides to move this to the clinch. Which is highly likely being that Crow also tried to take the fight to the clinch in his one and only pro fight prior to this.

Crow has heavy hands and may attempt to use them to soften up his opponent in the clinch before going for that crushing KO via a staggering uppercut would be my call. We’ll see what Donkey has to say about that in a moment.

Kribbson’s first fight went to a draw surprisingly, and we got to see from that fight that he’s a fairly strong fighter. Also, we found out that he likes to pull guard when in the clinch and go for a sub when he can. If he has any skill in that area, it could be helpful because Crow’s prior loss was via sub. It seems his main intent on the ground though is to find his way to the top, and then work the ground and pound to both his own and his opponent’s pleasure. Well, perhaps not his opponent’s! But hey, to each their own! Anyways, that’s how he obtained his sole win to date in his last fight.

Donkey, got anything else…?

Donkey’s Pick: Johansson via TKO (Strikes)

If Johansson can get this one to the ground, and that’s a big if…then he could take control of this thing and make short work of it. But he’s going to have to be able to do that early, before Crow takes it to the clinch, because there is some doubt over whether he can work his way from his back to on top once on the ground. And if Crow can get this to the clinch, Johansson has shown that pulling guard is his move. IfJohansson can’t get it to the ground, this could be trouble for him, but at the same time Crow will have his work cut out for him being the smaller man in the clinch.

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #1

Hemmo Karhu (0-1-0) vs. Some Body (0-3-0)

Our second bout of the evening will feature Hemmo Karhu, making his second appearance here at Sucker Punch in what is also his second professional fight. He’ll look across the cage to Some Body. No, Donkey, I don’t mean just somebody, as in like we’re not sure yet who he’s going to face. We do know who he’s going to face, and that fighter is Some Body. Damnit…no! His name is…nevermind.

Anyway, Some Body is fighting under the careful guidance, if not the love, of Dillon Weber. This is his debut here at Sucker Punch and he’ll be looking to chalk up his first win being that he has three prior losses. My guess is that he’s through testing the different ways to lose now that he has a loss via KO, one via submission and also one via decision. Now that he can claim he’s experienced it all, it’s time to move on to wins!

Karhu comes into this fight fully prepared, with a tank full of energy and his spirits on high! He seems very ready for action, and his idea of a good time in the cage is undoubtedly getting to the canvas and likely attempting to sub out his opponent. Unfortunately for him, in his first fight he was unsuccessful in getting to the ground in ten takedown attempts, twelve if you count the two in the clinch, which, btw…yes, we do count. So yeah, zero for twelve. He’ll want to show he’s improved in that area for this fight! I’m thinking he’ll have better success tonight, as Some Body is an abysmal wrestler with only a white belt in Jiu Jitsu.

Donkey, what’s your call bud…?

Donkey’s Pick: Karhu via Submission (Armbar)

I think Karhu’s fortunes will turn around for him tonight and he’ll finally get to the ground. Both because he has the better grappling skills, as well as because his opponent is coming in completely unfocused. This poor unloved Some Body, whose parents and manager didn’t care enough about to even name rightly, is really down in the dumps and not really showing the kind of morale you like to see for a fight. Maybe if they bought him some new clothes to at least pretend they love him, he’d think he’s Some Body?

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #2

Adam Webber (1-4-0) vs. Soons Sam (0-0-0)

Donkey, another couple of Sucker Punch Pro Series debuts here! Woo, introducing some new talent tonight baby! Fans will want to really be in on these guys, a chance to follow careers from early on as they get going with the org.

Unfortunately, before we even look at skills or tendencies, we can already see that both of these guys come into this fight with a couple of issues at hand. For Sam, his morale is down a tick or so, not ridiculously bad, but his energy is also not ideal for a fight. At 26 years old, he’s going to need to depend upon what we will hope are good physicals to ride him through this one if he wants to start his career off on the right foot. He needs to rack up the wins early, as 25 and 26 year olds usually have a limited shelf life, relatively speaking.

Webber’s issue is that while his energy is topped off, his morale is pretty “meh”. At only about half focused on fighting, it will be interesting to see if he can break the chain of losses, with only one win to go with the four losses he has, and really get on the right track. Certainly, several changes of clothes to work on that morale would do wonders to help him if he does want to turn things around. But it’s too late for that tonight.

Donkey, who has what it takes to come out on top…?

Donkey’s Pick: Sam via TKO (Strikes)

Webber’s sole win came via a submission. That’s not going to happen tonight most likely against a superior purple belt in BJJ, so he’ll probably have to rely upon his boxing advantage in this one. Soons Sam is more well rounded, so it’s hard to say what approach he may take tonight and we’ll be interested to see what hiddens he has! But his more well balanced skills lend themselves to a potential ground and pound game, which is what I’m going with being I have to shy away from such low morale for Webber.

*********

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #3

Jestoni Hawk (0-1-0) vs. John Popeye (0-2-0)

One of these men is going to get their first win tonight. Probably. Unless the gods just really have it in for them!

Jestoni Hawk comes in with a 0-1 record thanks to what was probably a test match in the QFC. In that fight, his strength was probably already built up fairly high, as it covered any other hiddens he might find. He’s the more well-rounded fighter, with a little bit of everything going on, so we’ll find out which way he wants to approach things and learn a bit from him tonight.

Popeye, much like his opponent, showed powerful early on, so he too is masking anything he might have. He’s primarily a wrestler with some striking ability. Perhaps a tendency towards GnP? He’s tried both GnP and a sub in prior fights, so he may still be working things out.

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Pick: Hawk via TKO (Strikes)

To be honest, this will mainly be a learning fight. I’m not particularly keen on Hawk tonight because his morale and energy aren’t ideal. And I never care for that combo. But he is the more well rounded fighter, and at this stage of development that might serve him well this evening. Eventually, he’s going to have to figure out what he wants to focus on or in the “in between” stages he may struggle. Certainly against higher level competition. For Popeye, I’m not sure if his ground skills match up very well tonight, but don’t count him out winning with the GnP potentially! We’ll definitely have more to say about these guys after this fight tonight once we’ve seen a bit more.

*********

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #4

Joe Junior (0-1-0) vs. Michael Rubio (1-3-0)

Donkey, this fight puts us just before the halfway mark of the card…and yet, we’ve still got guys coming into fights at this point with either low energy or morale? C’mon man, this must be driving you insane tonight! What’s with these Light Heavyweights, huh?

In this case, we’re talking about Joe Junior who comes in with good energy, but the morale isn’t quite all there. And the reason for that is simple. He lost his first, and only, fight on the last card here with Sucker Punch to Wille Thai. That caused a morale drop. Not a horrible one…but a drop regardless. And since then, he’s still wearing the same old clothes. You can’t regain morale with the ole Tighty Whities! It just doesn’t happen. Clothes quality needs to be at, I believe, don’t quite quote me on this, but 140 or above?...to gain morale. Until my morale is back up, I frankly change my clothes every day Donkey! But your basic Tighty Whities are 100 quality, and will NEVER, EVER bring t hat morale up! So there you go folks, PSA, change those undies, don’t go around being nicknamed ‘Skidmark’, it’s shit for morale!

Now, back to business…Joe Junior has the advantage in boxing and BJJ, with a blue belt. The belt is probably mostly defensive at this point if I had to guess, and given that he’s lost via submission previously in his only fight, not that effective yet. He’s going to want to stay on the feet and box in this one I’d think.

Rubio on the other hand is geared up for the nasty business in the clinch. I haven’t even looked at the details on his fights yet other than that he has two losses via submission. So Junior and Rubio are both likely to be interested in keeping this standing. But Rubio, with that wrestling and Muy Thai advantage, is going to lean towards slow dancing with shots to the body, head and nuts as if to say, “I care”. You figure out what he cares about!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Rubio via TKO (Strikes)

Rubio is slightly older and may have better developed physicals, although hard to say. I think he gets Junior in the clinch, and with the morale less than ideal, Junior doesn’t have the heart to fight out of it once there. And that’s when the pain begins for Junior. And no, I don’t think Rubio cares, about anything other than winning the fight!

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #5 vs. #13

Titus Fury (6-0-0) vs. Mike Bard (1-0-0)

Top half of the card, and we move into guys who have some wins going for them in their left hand columns! Well, at least, Fury does, although Bard is off to as good as start as you can ask for at 1-0! He’s hoping that that’s 2-0 soon of course. Both men managed to move on from the first round of the Light Heavyweight Sorter Series and are now hoping they can move on to the semi-finals!

Fury came into his last fight here at Sucker Punch, his first with us, under new management. With Yabai veteran Action Jacksion previously, he had won a QFC tournament and then been promptly thanked by being cut by his ungrateful manager! (Don’t tell Action I said that, please, I like being in Yabai!) But A.J. Walter was good enough to give Fury a new home, and the brought him to us…promptly winning his first fight by Unanimous Decision. That was the first fight he’d failed to win via submission, most likely a testament to his opponent’s skills.

Mike Bard will be looking to put a stop to Fury’s ongoing string of wins, preferring to add one to the loss column for him and give him a bit of humility! Bard is a 25 year old with a granite chin and apparently an ability to pull off a submission of his own! Now, the question will be, does he tempt fate and go to the ground trying to top the 5x submission artist in Fury, or does he try to keep it standing and use his other skill sets? Tonight we shall find out!

Donkey, you have a pick for us in this one…?

Donkey’s Pick: Bard via TKO (Strikes) (GnP)

Bard may have finished his first fight with a submission, but he was winning it up to that point with his striking game on the ground! And that’s how I think he finishes it this time. I’m giving Bard the edge in this one because Fury comes in with both the morale and energy not topped off. They aren’t awfully low, but every little bit counts and in this contest, I think it matters. Could this be the end of Fury’s tournament winning runs?

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #3 vs. #6

Harold Kerzner (1-0-0) vs. Marat Mustafaev (4-4-0)

For our second bracket fight in the Sorter Series tonight we see Harold Kerzner face off against Marat Mustafaev! Both men coming off success in the first round, they’ll be focused on trying to extend that streak so they can move on to the semi-finals, and one step closer to a big contract, title of tournament champion and more importantly, being belted the first Light Heavyweight champion for Sucker Punch Pro Series!

Kerzner may lack a ton of experience, but you can’t complain with a 1-0 record! So far he’s undefeated, and it’s up to Mustafaev to do something about it if he doesn’t like it! He’s a wrestler who also holds a blue belt in BJJ and is still fairly young at 19 years old. He used that grappling ability along with some submission skill to pull off a kimura in the first round against John Popeye.

Coach Steve will have to ensure that Kerzner has his eye on the prize if he wants to move one step forward in this Series, as Marat Mustafaev is a 25 year old with an extensive number of fights under his belt for such a short fighting career timewise. Mustafaev is primarily a Muy Thai artist with four wins via both (T)KO and Decision. His losses have also come via mainly knockouts, so that could be a concern over his chin? He’s also shown a tendency to cut easily so there is that to watch.

Tonight though, Mustafaev probably doesn’t have to worry as much about the standup losses via KO or TKO. That probably isn’t Kerzner’s jam, so he’s likely safe there. But if this goes to the ground, there is a high likelihood he’s going to be in trouble.

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Pick: Kerzner via Submission (Triangle)

This could very well turn into a chess match of ground game moves! It’s a tough one to pick, and really, could go either way, but I like the all around ground skills that Kerzner is showing for this. I think that may give him the slight edge and when it’s this close, you gotta go with an edge! This is a #3 versus #6 matchup, so both of these young guys have what it takes and could walk away the winner!

*********

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #1 vs. #9

Ali Hasanov (6-1-0) vs. Sacrificial Lamb (2-1-0)

Ok, full disclosure, this next match which features our #1 seed of the Sorter Series bracket tournament…also features my own fighter Donkey. So not really easy for me to do this completely unbiased, and even if I did there would be some question.

I will say that I’m expecting to take the loss on this one. Hasanov’s skills are more than I think Lamb can overcome and he also has the size advantage to a small degree. His Muy Thai and wrestling are better, so I fully expect to get clinch raped in this, with Lamb having a little better boxing.

Hasanov is a rock solid 6-1 in his career, while Lamb is 2-1, thanks to a lucky win in the first round over #8 seed Kano Rei, which I say lucky because that poor guy went MIA and didn’t tend to his fighter.

In the first round of the Sorter Series, Hasanov ended the thing with ease, ousting Bruce Li in only 15 seconds with a flashy combo that earned him KO of the Night! Was a thing of beauty…and terror as I hope not to see the same thing happen to my guy, who for this fight, may be very aptly named! Hasanov’s last three fights have all ended via TKO or KO, all early in the first round, and all with induced memory loss for his opponents. I’m hoping that if he does the same to Lamb, the same will apply so Lamb doesn’t remember where I live when he’s pissed that I got him into this shit!

Donkey, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Pick: Hasanov via TKO (Strikes)

It’s not looking good for Sacrificial Lamb. I’d normally say against a guy with this much Muy Thai skill you’d better tell Lamb to stay out of the clinch at all costs, but damn, that boy Hasanov doesn’t NEED the clinch to get it done. That’s just like that nasty dark room, where if you do venture there, MORE pain awaits…and nightmares. Hasanov is the #1 seed for a reason, I’m not betting against him. Oh, and Yury…Hare said you suck too! LOL, ok, he didn’t, I’m just trying to get him in trouble.

Co-Main Event

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #7 vs. #15

Dougie Mcphee (3-0-0) vs. Wille Thai (1-0-0)

Our Co-Main Event, and this one features our last pairing from the Light Heavyweight Sorter Series for Round 2! These two both bring undefeated records to the table, with one of them about to extend that record, the other about to take their first loss!

Dougie Mcphee is 3-0 and led by Dj Parko. He’s a fairly well rounded 24 year old fighter and his last win was a KO that took out Hemmo Karhu 15 seconds into the second round of their fight. He has KO power from his tales of the tape, and he’s been more than happy to put that on display for anybody who steps into the cage with him!

Wille Thai overcame the odds as the #15 seed in the Sorter Series during Round 1 to finish #2 seed Joe Junior via a Triangle submission. A thing of beauty, this man is no stranger to locking on tight and taking out his opponents. He may only have one fight, and one win, in MMA, but he’s fought four other grappling matches in TWGC and almost managed to walk away the champion, losing his last and final match in the four fight series. His first three fights all ended with him subbing out his opponents.

Donkey, which way do you think this one swings…?

Donkey’s Pick: Mcphee via KO (Punch)

Both of these boys come into this fight full charged, full of confidence and full of grit! I can’t wait to see the fight! Classic standup versus ground game! Mcphee is the older fighter, and may have better physicals to fall back on and that could mean trouble for poor Thai’s head. I’m going to lean his way, but Thai could change everything real fast if he can get the takedown before being decapitated!

*********

Main Event

Featherweight CSS Round 2: #4 vs. #5

Ramon Rabbit (4-1-0) vs. Charles Luciano (3-1-0)

Our final and Main Event of the evening tonight features the remaining pair of fighters from the Featherweight Sorter Series, Round 2! These two needed just a bit more time to be ready upon request by one manager and we granted that. As the #4 and #5 seeds, this should be an amazing fight!

Rabbit has exceptional Muy Thai but didn’t need to use it in the first round of the Series. He managed to knock off Jun Sekii in just a little over two minutes via a TKO finish thanks to some dangerous feet that his man sports!

“Lucky” Luciano comes in the better grappler and all around BJJ fighter. He outlasted Luke Skywalker in the first round of the Sorter Series to take a Decision victory. He’s also shown that he can stand in there and go the distance, having won another QFC previously the same way. Also, he has a win with his hands while standing, so there is always a risk for Rabbit that Luciano could decide to duke it out! Especially being that he has shown some KO power!

Donkey, how do you see our Main Event shaking out…?

Donkey’s Pick: Rabbit via TKO (Strikes)

If I’m being honest here Hare, I’m really just taking a shot in the dark on the winner of this one! And I’m only going with Rabbit because I have NO idea what direction Luciano might go in to try to win this one due to the variety he’s shown in his fights! So I’m taking the easy way out! Either way, this should be a great fight, one will go on to the semi-finals for the Featherweights, the other will still be positioned very well within the division so long as they win again in the next fight!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Sorry this one is much later coming out and so very close to the actual event. The situation this week due to power outages and internet services has made it challenging, but BOOM, here we are and I’m excited to see these fighters go at it tonight, and to tell you all about it tomorrow afterward! But don’t take my word for it, tune in yourself or get some tickets to the Hard Rock Arena in Sydney! Somebody is getting knocked down, down undah!

Enjoy the action folks, and till next time…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Post Event Cheap Shots

Light Heavyweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Round 2

A big night down undah at Hard Knocks Sydney has come and gone! Now, along with our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and our enthusiastic media correspondent, Suzy Sucker Punch, I’m Hare Rumpler and we’re proud to bring you the post-fight Cheap Shots for the Light Heavyweight Cockshot Sorter Series Round 2 card!

This card featured eight Light Heavyweight fights with four of those fights part of the Sorter Series tournament. We were also kicked off with a Welterweight fight between two very good young fighters in Red Crow and Kribbson Johansson and then our Main Event fight between Ramon Rabbit and Charles Luciano went off with fireworks and a surprise finish that may have shocked quite a few of our Sucker Punch fans out there!

No sense dilly-dallying around, let’s get to this thing!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Our fantastic and respected sponsor is Shadow Warrior Nutrition! Many of you already know them as the providers of Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, THE energy loss reduction supplements! For those of you who aren’t in the know on that, you should be, because this is the way you keep your fighter training more often and not taking sessions off to try to keep his energy above 90%! If you aren’t using this supplement, hurry over and check them out today, you will not be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Bonus Welterweight Bout

Red Crow Defeats Kribbson Johansson via TKO (Strikes)

Right out of the gate Donkey ends up behind the eight ball with his predictions, as he took Johansson with the TKO finish but Red Crow was NOT interested in helping that one work out for him!

Here’s the crazy part about this fight. We truly felt that in order to win this one, Johansson would have to get this one to the ground and avoid the clinch with Crow. Turns out, Crow was more than content to not only work outside the clinch…but to take it to the ground on his own a little over three minutes into this one! That was a bit shocking, and then what was even more shocking was the immediate, and brutal, GnP that Crow proceeded to lay down! Elbows, hammer fists, oh my! Another elbow, some more ground abuse and then BOOM…a massive shot from guard and it wasn’t long before the ref had to jump in and save Johansson from certain memory loss had it continued!

Johansson was really holding his own during the standup, but this one just really surprised I think most people when Crow turned out to be so very dominant on the ground. Wow!

Donkey, got anything else…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Crow reels in his first career victory, and boy was it a huge one. He showed skills both on and off the ground, and should be considered an all-around threat going forward. Anybody facing him now will know they have to be prepared for anything! Johansson can’t be pleased about failing to take advantage of an opportunity on the ground, but no doubt his manager, Kribbson Thunder, will have him ready to go for his next fight and ready to bounce back strong!

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #1

Hemmo Karhu Defeats Some Body via Submission (Armbar)

Alright, we move into our Light Heavyweight fights now and boy, did Donkey come back strong on with this prediction after he failed to land the first one! Not only the winner, not only the finish, but the exact submission for the victory! Nice going Donkey. It pains me to say that, but credit where it’s due and all!

It took Hemmo Karhu just over three and a half minutes in the first to put Some Body away. No, not just anybody, Some Body. And yes, I am going to make that joke just about every time, get used to it! The key for Karhu was getting Some Body to the ground, which he did just over a minute into the contest. Up until then, Body was doing a pretty good job, as he’d moved into the clinch and was striking effectively, especially with those punishing knees of his!

Body was also doing a great job preventing Karhu from getting to the ground, where he needed to be to have success in this one. However, on the eighth attempt, Karhu managed to get there and that was definitely bad for Body. The sub attempts started in earnest and after a half dozen Karhu managed to catch Body with an arm left unguarded and that was all she wrote!

Donkey, did you think…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

We weren’t really sure what to think about Some Body as we didn’t have a ton to go on. But he surprised I the clinch, doing some really good thing and if he can strengthen up his takedown and/or his ground defenses, he’ll be on the right path! Those knees were doing damage, and Karhu honestly got lucky to finally get to the ground before fully gassing out on the attempts. This could have easily gone the other way if another attempt or two had failed for Karhu.

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #2

Soons Sam Defeats Adam Webber via TKO (Strikes)

To be honest, we weren’t sure if Soons Sam was going to be able to make weight for this one or not. He came up a little over two pounds heavy during weight ins, but was able to drop down in the extra time allotted and, surprisingly, the weight loss didn’t sap him of energy so much that it would keep him from winning!

Being that this one went deep into the second round, that makes it even more impressive that Sam didn’t gas out! And that’s even MORE surprising given how much takedown, stand up, takedown, stand up activity Sam did! The first round was a whirlwind of down, up, rinse, repeat activity from Sam. However, come the second round, he seemed to find his groove and started combining a bit of GnP along in there with those takedowns, then a sub attempt, enough to put Webber’s mind on that and open him for more abuse that would lead to the stoppage due to strikes.

Webber must be disappointed with the loss, he’d previously won via submission but in this particular one it looks like on the ground at least he was outgunned a bit.

Donkey, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Webber was also at a disadvantage due to low morale. And that can always play against you heavily when you come into a match less than fully focused. I think it might have factored in here, and maybe prevented Webber from capitalizing on a few sub attempts he was able to sneak in. Lesson learned, I have no doubt he’ll be back and ready to go, fully prepared next time! Congrats to Sam on a good win to add one in the left hand column of his record!

*********

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #3

John Popeye Defeats Jestoni Hawk via TKO (Strikes)

Donkey should have gone with his gut on this one. He said he wasn’t particularly keen on Hawk mostly due to morale and energy being a little low, and usually he picks against that. He went against his own rules this time, and it burned him! To his credit, he did say not to count out Popeye with the GnP potentially, but hey, you have to make a call, you don’t get to hedge your picks by taking both sides! Ha!

Hawk had nothing in this fight. Even when he tried to do what Popeye wanted him to do, which is take it to the ground, he couldn’t manage to pull it off! Popeye instead stuffed the attempts, six of them, and let Hawk waste his energy. No strikes attempted by Hawk, improved position once out of two tries, and attempted 4 unsuccessful subs. I think Donkey had it right saying that Hawk wasn’t really prepared mentally or energy wise for this fight.

Popeye did what any good fighter would do, and that’s go with Plan A, until it doesn’t work, then switch to Plan B! Initially he was working the clinch, and was very successful getting there. But unable to get effective striking going there, he instead went to the ground in the second round. Once there, the pain was delivered to Hawk who I think was already ready to concede the match morale wise.

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

This one was Popeye’s to lose given the situation with Hawk. And good on him, he didn’t piss away the opportunity! As you said Hare, great adjustment to the fight, you have to wonder how much rope his manager was giving him to adjust to the fight on his own! I bet a lot, and it paid off!

*********

Light Heavyweight Undercard Bout #4

Joe Junior Defeats Michael Rubio via Unanimous Decision

Joe Junior defied the odds in this one, and even with morale that was less than ideal he managed to go the distance and pull out a win!

This one was all over the place. Rubio really wanted this one on the ground, and he was able to get it there several times, so nobody can say he never had his shot. The problem is, once there, he didn’t do much of anything. No strikes, no successful transitions, no sub attempts…nada. This match really turned into a bit of a struggle for position and feeling each other out, given that the activity level for both was not overly aggressive.

Ultimately though, Junior did what he had to to win each round, coming out with 30-27 scores across the board with the judges and walking away with his first win!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Really, there’s not much to say on this one. It was essentially three rounds of sparring with Junior coming out on top by virtue of staying a bit more active and stuffing umpteen million takedown attempts by Rubio, even though Rubio appeared to have no plan for what he wanted to do if he got to the ground. We’ll see what happens as these two refine their game plans going forward!

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #5 vs. #13

Titus Fury Defeats Mike Bard via Submission (Kimura)

Donkey came Ohhhhhhhh so close to calling this one! My, what a show Bard and Fury put on, a virtual clinic on the ground game both from a Jiu Jitsu perspective as well as flat out grappling and GnP! And a great one to put up in the first of our remaining Sorter Series fights for the Light Heavyweights!

We all knew Fury was going to be tough if Bard wanted to take him to the ground and do what he does best. And to do that, he’d have to work in Fury’s kitchen. And boy, did it almost work!!! Fury had his shots certainly as well, with subs flying, but when Bard got his back, boy, everybody in the arena had to be thinking that it was going to be all over for Fury! But no, Fury displayed some fantastic BJJ and managed to get out of that horrible position!

Back to more of the jockeying for position, and a few more sub attempts, more GnP, and suddenly you’re looking at Bard on top again! Could the GnP come through for him and prove Donkey correct after all? But no, Fury escapes the menace again!

On to Round 2, a bit of clinching, and then shortly after, bam, we’re back on the ground! And then it becomes a sub fest, and no, not hoagies, I’m talking Fury going for a leg there, bard isolating an arm here, Fury with an arm triangle try, Bard attempting a kimura, it was insane! One transition after the other looking for a leg, an arm, anything left hanging out and undefended! Finally, Bard gets caught with the arm out there again and Fury gets ahold and cranks on it, and boom, Bard is tapping out to a kimura!

Damn, what a fight!!

Donkey, you have a pick for us in this one…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Outstanding contest by two outstanding grapplers! Both men should be proud of the show they put on, and both can look forward to success in Sucker Punch I’d think! Congrats to Fury as he moves on to the semi-finals, and Bard, well, I can’t wait to see him fight again, and even more, an eventual rematch down the line with Fury! I’d think this may have just started a rivalry.

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #3 vs. #6

Harold Kerzner Defeats Marat Mustafaev via Submission (Americana)

For our second bracket fight in the Sorter Series…ah hell, well, this one really in the grand scheme of things doesn’t even matter! “Say what?” you say? “How could a Sorter Series bracket match that sends one young fighter to the semi-finals and a step closer to being the division champion not matter? “ you say?

Well, here’s the thing. Turns out Mustafaev’s manager dumped him before the fight, so Mustafaev is now a free agent and went into this fight as such, so wasn’t exactly managed in it. And then, and this is where it gets crazier…Kerzner’s manager, Coach Steve, pulled him from the tournament saying he needs to get back to training for now and as such, declined the next fight against Wille Thai in the semi’s!

So basically, no, I don’t see much reason to even go into this fight much as in the grand scheme it means very little. Mustafaev is likely not going to be here with us any longer, and Kerzner, who was in position to at worst be seeded in the 4-6 range on the ladder, but possibly two steps away from being the division champion and belted at the end of this tournament, now takes a huge step back and will likely end up middle of the pack when all is said and done.

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

It’s a real shame is what it is. I mean, we all saw the Mustafaev thing coming, so yeah, whatever whatever. But I was very much looking forward to seeing Kerzner and Thai go at it, and one of them take that next step towards our championship! Instead, Thai is going to get a free pass, and that’s not something that thrills me. Nothing against Thai, but at this point you like to see them work for it. And with Mustafaev being a FA, it’s not like we can give him a pass to fight Thai. It’s just kind of a mess.

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #1 vs. #9

Sacrificial Lamb Defeats Ali Hasanov via TKO (Strikes)

Wow, is all I will say! I did not, absolutely did NOT expect to see Lamb manage his way past Hasanov! Down goes the #1 seed in the tournament!

What was more shocking about this one was that it turned into such a one-sided affair. Of course, much of this could come across as biased being that Lamb is my guy, but I think it’s fair to say Hasanov just never got it going. I’m not sure if he was planning to go with a counter strategy, and his striking defense just wasn’t up to par so he never got the counters going, or what. But he basically stood back and just took a whooping until Lamb finally finished it off.

Lamb will move on to the semi’s, which frankly makes me a little uncomfortable. One of my own fighters should not be in contention for a belt in this org, it just rings “wrong” to me, so while I won’t hope for him to lose to Fury, and I won’t throw the fight…it does concern me should he win and I won’t be disappointed to see Lamb lose that fight. If he does win, serious consideration may have to be given to having him step aside.

Donkey, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I’m as shocked as you are Hare. I honestly felt that this was going to go to the clinch and Lamb was going to get dealt a couple handfuls, and possibly a few elbows and knees worth, of punishment and abuse. Instead, it seems like Hasanov got caught off-guard and never got over the shell-shock of being punched, and punched often. Lamb almost never missed, and it seems it might have just thrown Hasanov off his game.

Co-Main Event

Light Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #7 vs. #15

Wille Thai Defeats Dougie Mcphee via Submission (Armbar)

Our Co-Main Event was certainly a surprise and caught Donkey with his pants down on his pick! We thought Mcphee might continue his reign of terror with his hands, ending this via yet another show of power with a KO. That was not how it was meant to be apparently!

At least, not the way Wille Thai wrote the story out. Rather than get tagged and taken out, Wille went at it and stayed focused on getting the takedown he needed so badly. And in doing so, he got dealt a ton of punishment. Mcphee was laying it on him hard, and stuffing every takedown Thai tried. This really looked to be going in a bad direction for Thai fast. But…Thai has a granite chin, and he showed us just what a granite chin can do in this one, taking shot after shot from Mcphee and refusing to go down, or even falter! He just kept coming, shooting, trying!

Thai made it through an entire round taking shot after shot. Then, the second round arrives…and initially, more of the same. This was looking like Thai was going to gas out bad! And…being honest, he almost did. This fight was so close to being Mcphee’s he could probably taste it. But then Mcphee pushed a shot to the body out there that missed, left himself open, and Thai countered with a takedown that landed him in guard! This was the opportunity, this was the chance he’d been working for all fight… and just under two minutes later, Thai found himself in mount, going for a guillotine and then switching it up and bam, there’s an arm, and hello mister arm, let me twist you in strange ways!

Donkey, surprising turn of events…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A big turn of events there Hare! Mcphee was dominating this fight. It looked like we were probably just minutes away from seeing Thai gas and his chin finally succumb to the abuse he’d been taking all fight. But wow, sometimes it just takes one break…and you have to be ready to take advantage of opportunity when it comes knocking. Thai was ready. And he moves on not only to the semi-finals, but apparently, due to the pull of Kerzner from the semi’s, directly on to the championship! Now that just shows you that you never know just how much is on the line in any given fight!

Main Event

Featherweight CSS Round 2: #4 vs. #5

Charles Luciano Defeats Ramon Rabbit via Submission (Armbar)

Wow, just wow! Huge win for Charles Luciano here and his manager, Mikey C! They have to be over the moon with this. Donkey was torn on which way to go with this pick, and for good reason. Both of these fighters have what it takes to be successful, and have demonstrated it!

The thought was that Luciano was going to have to be careful and not necessarily go toe to toe with Rabbit where he is the most dangerous having shown the ability to take an opponent out emphatically with power. Well, Luciano made sure not to fall into that trap, taking Rabbit down in the first half minute of the contest and nullifying that part of Rabbit’s game. Then it got worse as Luciano managed to work his way into a mount! And let the GnP commence!

About a minute into this, Luciano smartly used the fact that he’d been pouring the strikes on and managed to rock Rabbit, and suddenly switched things up, going for a sub…and I don’t think Rabbit saw that coming at all! Rabbit was so distracted by the flurry of punches and strikes he’d been receiving from mount that he never thought of protecting his arms, and boom, suddenly Luciano had one, and it was ALL OVER! Damn, great sub, great all around performance.

Donkey, how about THAT main event…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Truly a great performance and well worth being the Main Event! Luciano earned his trip to the Featherweight semi-finals for their Sorter Series with a fun, exciting show for the fans! Rabbit is no slouch, and he’ll be back hungrier than ever, no doubt!

Suzy managed to grab an elated Mike C as he waited for his fighter to exit the cage…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Hey Mikey, great fight out there! You look like you’re just about the happiest man alive right now. Tell us what you’re thinking about Luciano’s performance?

Mikey C: To paraphrase the great Elmer Fudd, "Be vewwwwy vewwwwy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits!" And hunt we did. Charles "Lucky" Luciano held his tongue during the buildup to this fight with Ramon Rabbit, and then he went about his work like a silent assassin. You thought you were gonna walk right through Lucky with your prissy boxing and MT skills? Fine. We kept quiet and didn't say a word. Then on fight night we drove Rabbit to the ground and subbed him like the fake tough guy he really is. Wabbit Hunting complete.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Wow guys, silent before the fight, but deadly and certainly not silent after! Big things for these guys as they exit the victors tonight!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

An exciting night of action that ended up with some shocks, in the ring and out, and some surprise moves that send unexpected fighters to the semi-finals in their Sorter Series! All in all, another Sucker Punch Pro Series event the fighters and managers should be proud of, and we can only hope the fans enjoyed it as much as we did!

Enjoy the action folks, and till next time…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Sucker Punch Preview

Lightweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Round 2

With no mid-week card this week the Lightweights come roaring onto the scene to satisfy that hunger for some rude, nasty and just plan cheap Sucker Punch action! I’m Hare Rumpler, here alongside my partner Donkey “Dan” and our amazing media correspondent, Suzy Sucker Punch.

We head into the second round of our Lightweight Sorter Series with this card and one step closer to the semi-finals and knowing who will sit at the top of this division! Unfortunately, it looks as if we’ll be kicking this card off one fight short being we were unable to arrange any sparring bout test rights to fill it in. That doesn’t bode well for our full test fight card on the 24th, but oh well. It will probably be the last time we offer up those opportunities.

But let’s not let that get us down! It’s time to get into the thick of it and see what’s on store for tonight! It looks like this card will feature one Welterweight fight that is hanging over from our card a week or so ago, as well as eight Lightweight battles, three of which are part of the Sorter Series bracket second round fights!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Thanks to our sponsor, Shadow Warrior Nutrition, we’ve brought in an extra 4k or so per show that really does help to offset the losses that our events incur at the moment. Thanks to that, we’re able to do the KO of the Night, Sub of the Night and Fight of the Night for each event! So if you haven’t grabbed yourself and your fighters some Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, their fantastic energy loss reduction supplements, now would be a great time to do that and show them the love for being there for us! And bonus, you get yourself some fantastic sups to help your fighters out, you won’t be disappointed, check them out today!

Now, let's get to it!

Bonus Welterweight Undercard Bout

Igor Nox (1-4-0) vs. Konrad Wagner (0-0-0)

Igor Nox opened up his run here at Sucker Punch last time with an unfortunate loss to Pietro Marchionni. He’ll be looking to bounce back tonight against newcomer Konrad Wagner who has both his professional and Sucker Punch debut with us!

Nox is very well rounded with mediocre skill ratings in boxing, MT and wrestling and a blue belt in BJJ. Konrad is more specialized with the advantage in boxing and wrestling. I would expect to see Konrad take one of two approaches…both involving his fists! Either standing…or on the canvas with some ground and pound!

Nox has tended to not be the aggressor when it comes to establishing where the fight should take place. In past fights, he’s been taken down by fighters who want it on the ground, and he’s been clinched up by those who want to dance close. So you have to think that his goal is to stay fighting at separation. Being that he doesn’t have the advantage there in this one, it will be interesting to see what he does in a fight where he needs to establish his position and direct where the action goes.

What about it Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Nox via TKO (Strikes)

You have to go with the older fighter in this one when nothing else really separates them yet and you know so little about the younger Wagner. Nox does come in with less than ideal morale, although it’s not horrible. Honestly, this is a “see who can establish what” fight and then we go from here in terms of figuring out where each stands!

*********

Lightweight Undercard Bout #1

Erik Versteeg (0-2-0) vs. Sho Pereyra (0-3-0)

For our first Lightweight undercard bout, we move on to two young fighters both looking for that first big win!

Versteeg has two professional fights under his belt, but his first and only under current management was with our own Sucker Punch about a month ago. In that one, he was submitted via guillotine by Tua Graves about 40 seconds into the fight.

Sho Pereyra has three fights under his belt, but unfortunately is also seeking his first win still. His last fight ended via submission (armbar) to Bobolo Jubbly here at Sucker Punch around 90 seconds into the fight.

Tonight they will both get an opportunity to right the ship and get on course. Pereyra is a bit more evenly spread in his skills, while Versteeg is going to have the advantage in the clinch tonight as a Muy Thai specialist.

Who gets their first win Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Versteeg via TKO (Strikes)

Pereyra comes into this one with the combination of low morale and low energy going on. I’ll almost never pick a fighter with that combo. So Verteeg gets the vote on this one, for that reason and also because I believe his advantage in the clinch is going to be hard to overcome. Prepare for pain, and a lack of will to escape it!

*********

Lightweight Undercard Bout #2

Piney Winston (5-1-0) vs. Jank Stank (2-4-0)

Under ordinary circumstances another fighter would be standing across the cage for this fight on the card against Jank Stank. Because Piney Winston won his first round match in the Sorter Series against Otto Fon Abiht and was slated to face Frankie Logan in the second round. But that’s not what we’ll see!

That would be because although Piney won his first round match…and no, I won’t pull punches here…his manager instructed him to tuck tail walk away from Frankie rather than continue on in the tournament. So Frankie gets a free pass to the semi-finals, and instead Jank now gets to face Winston to see where each will end up ranked further down the division ladder once everything is over.

Winston has five wins in a row going on, all via submission at this point, including the kimura victory over Fon Abiht. He’s a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu and there is no reason to believe he won’t try to take it to the ground and do the same against Stank who holds a white belt.

Stank has considerable better boxing and only slightly better MT, so Stank will want to keep this one on the feet and probably at arm’s length apart! Stank’s prior four losses do include one via submission, so he’ll have to do his best to stay off the ground and out of Winston’s kitchen. This is his first fight with us here at Sucker Punch, so I’m sure he’s amped up and ready to show what he’s got!

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Pick: Winston via Submission (Armbar)

Stank comes into this one with horrendous morale. That boy is going to need a change of clothes. Check that, several days to a week or more of clothes changes! If not, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to start chalking up some wins any time soon. There’s very little chance with morale that low that he’d be able muster the confidence to prevent the takedown and eventual submission that’s coming to him in this one. Winston will tack on another win most likely, bringing his record to 6-1. Impressive, and likely if he can keep it up he’ll find himself in contention down the road if he can work his way up the ladder past the contenders. He had that shot within a few fights here, but unfortunately you can’t duck a top contender and then get that spot back that easily in the short term. He’s now going to have to prove he deserves it down the line.

Suzy spoke with Stank’s manager, Julian Wallace, earlier this week in the lead up to the event…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Julian, some are saying that Jank truly did…um, Stank…the last time they were near him and that perhaps he needs a change of clothes. Without it, Donkey seems to fear he may not stand a chance in this fight. How do you feel about Stank’s chances this week?

Julian Wallace: Jank Stank believes Jesus has given him power to beat Piney Winston.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well, there you have it Donkey! You can worry about morale and clothing changes, but these men are putting their faith in the hands of Jesus himself!

Lightweight Undercard Bout #3

Rock Lee (0-1-0) vs. Corona Virus (0-1-0)

Our next two young fighters both started their pro careers out here in Sucker Punch with their respective first round battles in the Sorter Series. Unfortunately, neither was able to get one in the win column and have been ousted from the bracket, but not from hopes of climbing that ladder and contending one day! Tonight will be the first step in starting that process as each tries to even up their record.

Eighteen year old Rock Lee will come into this fight as the better clinch artist of the two. He also is fully rested and that will give him the advantage over Virus who is currently down 15-20% or so.

Virus is 19 and has been training about the same amount of time as Lee. He has a slight advantage in boxing and wrestling, but we’ll see if he can put that to use being he’ll already have a headstart on getting fatigued.

One of these guys is getting a win, which one Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Lee via TKO (Strikes)

Easy pick for me. Go with the guy who is fully gassed up and ready to go. If Virus gets pulled into the clinch early this one will go badly for him if he takes abuse once there. Lee will wear on that body of his with his advantage in Muy Thai and eventually get the finish. Virus’ only shot is to win this in the first round or two via a TKO or KO finish of his own most likely and he’ll probably need to do it standing and separated.

*********

Lightweight Undercard Bout #4

Demi Achilles (3-1-0) vs. Ko Artist (1-2-0)

Donkey, I’m not sure what to tell you man! But this one isn’t going to thrill you either. I’m not certain what’s going on with the Lightweights in this division, but they’re fairly quiet when it comes to talk, and on top of that, more often than not at least one guy in a fight isn’t fully prepared. Lack of attention and involvement by the managers perhaps? This is a tough division to stock, something we may have to look at hard and long in the future.

For this one, Artist comes in with less than half the morale and confidence he should have. Granted, he did get his ass subbed out by Valery Bokov in the first round of the Sorter Series on the last card after only 49 seconds, but still, you should be able to recover your morale by now simply by changing those clothes, getting back to work and getting that confidence back. But this guy is still wearing his tighty whities…and that’s not going to cut it to rebuild confidence! I could talk about him more, his skills, his focus, etc…but it’s unlikely he’ll win.

Artist’s opponent, Achilles, comes into this one fully prepared though and that’s bad news for Artist. Especially, being that Artist lost via submission in his last match, comes in with the confidence down, and now has to face a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu who has two wins from QFC fights via sub. Yes, he lost his first ever match here in Sucker Punch land to Vinicius Verreira via TKO, so there is always a puncher’s chance there for Artist, but damn, he better land a lucky one fast! Cause once this goes to the mat…this thing is all over!

Donkey, you have a pick for us in this one…?

Donkey’s Pick: Achilles via Submission (Kimura)

Easy pick, you come in with the morale that low against a ground guy with sub skills, you’re not going to last most likely. You’ll fail to have the confidence and heart to prevent the takedown, and then it’s only a matter of time till you tap out after half-hearted sub defense. Sorry, but ALL of my money is on Achilles in this one.

*********

Lightweight CSS Round 2: #7 vs. #15

Veljko Bakocevic (2-4-0) vs. Vinicius Verreira (1-1-0)

And now we move into our Main Card events that feature our remaining Sorter Series fighters, with this being the first of three fights for them, and one remaining fight that is not part of the Sorter Series. For those fighting in the bracket still, this is the next step in hoping to go to the semi-finals and then maybe a chance to represent this division as its first champion!

And…even with a trip to the semi-finals on the line…we find yet another Lightweight in this one who comes in less than ideally prepared for a fight! I’m shocked Donkey, honestly. Bakocevic isn’t awfully tired, but he’s not fully rested either. More concerning is that he’s about 40% low on his morale. Combined with the energy, the two set up a bad situation.

Bakocevic is a sub artist. Yet in this one, he’s actually got the lesser of the two belts in Jiu Jitsu! So we will have to see how he fares on the ground. If he can get there. Or if he tries.

Verreira has the advantage almost across the board. One would think he’ll try to make use of his considerably Muy Thai advantage and use that to tire out, tenderize and generally abuse Bakocevic. If he can do that and get it to the clinch, it could be a rough night for Bako.

Donkey, got a pick in this one…?

Donkey’s Pick: Verreira via KO (Punch)

I’m going to go with the man who’s fully prepared, and perhaps he reproduces another Of The Night award with this one! He’s the more overall skilled fighter in this as it is, so it’s not good that Bakocevic is coming in giving up even more of an advantage with the morale and energy.

*********

Lightweight Main Card Bout

Mike Snot (3-0-0) vs. Damir Makarovich (0-0-0)

This next match before we get to our Main Events features two brand new fighters to the Sucker Punch scene! Mike Snot brings a fantastic 3-0 record, but now under new management, while Damir Makarovich is a fresh baby face to the cage, at least professionally!

Let’s go with what we do know first here. And what we know is that Snot…well, loves to literally beat the snot out of his opponents! He’s won all three of his fights via (T)KO and in two of those three, he’s been taken to the ground but managed to fight it off. And boy does being taken down seem to piss him off…because in each of those, shortly after the standup he’s delivered a nasty finish by attempting to rearrange his opponent’s face! He has a big advantage in the clinch, but has not even bothered to use it to date.

For Makarovich, we don’t know a lot, but we do see that brown belt over there buddy boy! And that’s going to make us assume that without skills in the standup he’s going to want to take this thing down quick, and unlike others who have done that to Snot, NOT let him back up without a submission first!

Donkey, which way do you think this one swings…?

Donkey’s Pick: Makarovich via Submission (Armbar)

Snot comes into this one with his morale less than perfect. And you know how I am! He’s the older fighter, and should have quite the advantage in physicals, so if he can end this one early without being taken down, he has a shot. But if his confidence is lacking and he gets taken to the canvas, my guess is he doesn’t have the morale to fight out of it this time around. Pressing your luck too many times eventually ends in getting a whammy!

*********

Co-Main Event

Lightweight CSS Round 1: #3 vs. #6

Tua Graves (3-3-1) vs. Conor Notorious (2-3-0)

And we finally head into our Main Events of the evening! This one features our second of three Sorter Series contests and should be your classic standup versus ground game contest by the looks of it Donkey!

Graves is the ground game portion of that contest. With a split record of 3-3-1, his three wins have all come via submission. And he likes to change it up, having done it with a rear naked choke, a triangle choke and a guillotine! One way or another, this guy likes to try to put you to sleep down there! He has the advantage in both wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, so if this does go to the ground, Notorious will be in a world of trouble!

On the other hand, if Notorious can prevent this from going to the ground, it could be Graves who ends up in trouble! The last thing Graves is going to want to do is to keep standing toe to toe with a guy like Notorious who has ended the two fights he’s won via KO’s, one with a punch, the other a kick! Multiple angles, multiple body parts, multiple opportunities for pain and a quick nap!

Donkey, wow, how do you think this goes…?

Donkey’s Pick: Graves via Submission (Armbar)

I really love Notorious’ skills in the standup, I do. But at the same time, that lack of any skill in wrestling and white belt scare the Dickens out of me against a guy like Graves with his ground game. Unfortunately, unless Notorious gets a good, hard, solid shot in early, I think Graves probably gets this to the ground and it’s big trouble from there for Notorious. He can always prove me wrong though!

*********

Main Event

Lightweight CSS Round 1: #5 vs. #13

Bobolo Jubbly (1-0-0) vs. Valery Bokov (1-1-0)

Jubbly and Bokov are our Main Event of the evening and also our final pairing of fighters in this portion of the Lightweight Sorter Series! I’m happy to say that much like the last match, both come in just about fully gassed up and full of confidence, which will make Donkey thrilled for the two Main Events of the evening.

Bokov is the #13 seed in the tournament and did a fantastic job stepping up and coming through as the underdog against KO Artist in his first fight of the Sorter Series. He claimed that nobody should call themselves a KO Artist without any KO’s and then proceeded to sub out said KO Artist via a beautiful Americana! Brilliant. This time around, he’s going to be facing a man who doesn’t shy away from the ground game one bit, and prefers it over standup to a large degree.

Jubbly subbed out his opponent, Sho Pereyra, in the first round of the Sorter Series in impressive fashion as well with a very nice Armbar. Jubbly has very, very little skills on the feet, so he definitely wants this one on the ground…and while having a purple belt the same as Bokov, has the better wrestling.

Knowing that that’s the case, will Bokov still go to the ground? He has some boxing and MT, so perhaps he goes another route? Tonight we’ll find out!

What about it Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Jubbly via Submission (Kimura)

Well, I do think this one goes to the ground, and that being said, I’d be crazy not to pick the guy with the better overall ground game. At least on paper. So we’ll go with Jubbly, but he has to prove it and Bokov is unlikely to want to just let him have it that easily! Should be a fantastic fight, a clinic in ground game and specifically Jiu Jitsu!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

The Lightweights get at it again, and while they aren’t the most vocal group…and certainly at the lower levels of the division not the most prepared it seems…I still expect a fantastic event tonight and can’t wait to see who comes out on top! And…who takes yet another step forward towards winning this Sorter Series!

Don’t miss it folks, and till next time…

Post Event Cheap Shots

Lightweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Round 2

Hey Sucker Punch fans, Hare Rumpler here alongside my partner and analyst, Donkey “Dan” and our ferocious media correspondent, Suzy Sucker Punch. The weekend is coming to a close here, and it’s been a beautiful one where we are on the east coast of the US. Hope it’s been great where you are too! But, with the weekend coming to an end, it’s beyond time for us to look back at the matches from Friday night and see what has come of it all!

This card highlighted the fighters remaining in the Lightweight Sorter Series along with the rest of their division and one fight left over from the Welterweights a week earlier. One of our Lightweights had a bye this round as his opponent ducked out, so that left us with three Sorter Series fights, five regular Lightweight bouts and that one Welterweight fight that started us off for the evening.

We did pretty well on the event rating for this event given we were one fight short. Not as well as I’d have liked to see, but not awful either. This division in general has tended to trail behind the others in hype, and I hope to remedy that going forward. We may need to bring in a few more higher skilled/rated fighters to give everybody a good run for their money once the division tourney is over!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

As always, a big shout-out to Shadow Warrior Nutrition! They were at the event, giving out samples, getting the party kicked off so if you missed them, and if you haven’t grabbed some Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q for your fighters yet, it’s time to do so! This fantastic energy loss reduction supplement is the absolute best way to keep your fighters in the gym fighting rather than sitting out sessions resting! Check them out today, you won’t be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Bonus Welterweight Undercard Bout

Konrad Wagner Defeats Igor Nox via TKO (Strikes)

I’m going to tell ya right now, this card did a number on Donkey’s picks and I don’t think he’s going to come out of this sitting as pretty as he normally does! And that starts out right away with this fight, where Donkey had picked Nox to win via TKO.

Wagner had a little something to say about that, or rather, his hands did! Nox came out and had two combo attempts, two takedown attempts and three clinch attempts, none of which succeeded. In between, Wagner landed 8 shots out of 10 attempted, which must have landed pretty well as Nox found himself rocked quickly and down and out a little over a minute in! Wow. Short work of this one by Wagner, and he moves on to a 1-0 record! That’s the way to start out not only a career but your start with Sucker Punch Pro Series!

Any thoughts Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I was treating this as a “see who can establish what” type fight. They, or at least Wagner, didn’t really give me much time to see any of that. Instead, Wagner took it to Nox and came out on top for his first win! A big statement win for Wagner given he is one of the very few…actually, perhaps the only, 360k+ ID’s we have here at Sucker Punch! And yet he’s showing he can get it done. Very impressive. Can’t wait to see what he can do in his next fight. For Nox, he falls to 1-5. A really tough spot to be in as a 26 year old where the youngsters will start to catch you fast in the next few months, if they haven’t already. He’s lost four in a row now, two at Sucker Punch, and his next fight may be a make it or break it type deal. He’s really going to need to come away with a win!

*********

Lightweight Undercard Bout #1

Sho Pereyra Defeats Erik Versteeg via Submission (Armbar)

Two fights, two wrong! Donkey, what’s up with this man??? You’re just off your game…either that, or this card really was just that unpredictable!

In a battle of who can moonwalk and who has more knowledge of comics, moonwalking wins! Naturally! Pereyra and his manager, Hyousuke Yamamoto, really showed Donkey on this one. Not only did he go against them due to a concern over Pereyra’s morale and energy, but also thinking that they couldn’t overcome young Versteeg’s clinch advantage.

I the first round, Versteeg never even got a chance to showcase any clinch skills, as less than a minute in Pereyra already had the takedown and all but a portion of the final minute of this round was spent on the ground with Versteeg fending off sub attempts. Kudos to Versteeg for managing to survive a round spent almost entirely on the ground!

Round two came, and Versteeg got his chance in the clinch right away, but unfortunately was unable to prevent Pereyra from dictating the fight again as Sho immediately took it to the ground once again. A failed guillotine followed, some struggle to get up by Versteeg and then, an arm left unguarded and Pereyra had what he wanted!

Donkey, another one picked…wrong…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

It’s true that I almost always go against a combination of low morale and low energy. And most of the time, it’s the right pick. Sometimes a guy overcomes the odds that that stacks against him and comes through though, and this was one of those fights! Kudos to Pereyra for overcoming the disadvantage given to him by his manager before this fight. And finding a way to not only win the fight, but control it for the most part. Young Versteeg continues to search for that first win. He’ll get it no doubt, but he has to be hoping that next fight is the magic one!

Sho Pereyra took to the mic in his post-fight interview with Suzy Sucker Punch…

Sho Pereyra: Thanks to my team. I hope this is a good sign for my future.

Lightweight Undercard Bout #2

Piney Winston Defeats Jank Stank via Submission (Guillotine)

Donkey managed to get out of his rut on this one, finally getting one correct! Not that that’s saying a lot, this one was honestly an easy pick and almost a sure-fire win for Winston. Stank’s morale was almost non-existent coming into this fight, and that is a death sentence in almost any fight.

Winston went into this one with a pretty straightforward approach. Get into the clinch, use it to abuse and soften up Stank, who was likely already primed to give in and submit anyway, and then take him down. And at just over a minute in, the takedown did occur and from there you almost knew it just wasn’t going to last long, especially when Winston was able to transition from side control to mount with almost no fight from Stank. One sub attempt later, Stank was ready to tap out and offered his head on a platter for the guillotine.

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Not much more to say here. This was Piney’s fight to lose, and he’d almost have had to go in there and tap himself our if he wanted to lose at that! Stank wasn’t ready to fight, and unless he gets that morale up, he won’t be ready next time either. Piney tacks on another win and it will be time to put him against some tougher competition over the next two cards to see what he’s got.

Lightweight Undercard Bout #3

Rock Lee Defeats Corona Virus via Unanimous Decision

Donkey gets this one right on a technicality in that he picked the winner, but he had it via a TKO finish and instead this went the distance! Which is surprising given that Virus was low on energy to start. You have to wonder if perhaps he’d been fully rested maybe he could have pulled off the decision?

This fight had a bit of everything, starting away in the first round! Clinch, takedown, standup, clinch, break, clinch, break, rinse, repeat! These two were all over the place. Not a lot of action on the ground when they were there honestly, so for the fans, it was best that they kept getting back up anyway.

Three rounds of more of the same. Lee managed to win this one by virtue of being the more active and aggressive fighter, mixing in some feet action as well with his striking. Virus spent the energy he could have been using to throw more strikes trying to clinch up instead. He was successful nine time, as Lee was 8 times, but Virus also attempted it a stunning 37 times. That’s a ton, and probably meant the difference in the fight.

Donkey, surprised by this one…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Not really. The ending, or lack of a finish, perhaps. But I’ll take a win for my picks any way I can get it! For Lee, he gets his win, ties up the record, and things are looking up if he can start stringing them together with consistency. For Virus though, he slips to 0-2, which isn’t the end of the world at the early stages of a career, but he’ll definitely be looking to prevent the ole 0 for 3 after this!

Lightweight Undercard Bout #4

Demi Achilles (3-1-0) vs. Ko Artist (1-2-0)

Wow, ok, now Donkey is starting to get his swagger on a bit! Not only the winner, but the type of finish…and also the exact submission! Nicely done there Donkey!

Artist did what he needed to do…for about a whole minute, maybe minute and a half in this one. He kept Achilles at range and kept him from working the takedown. But then…with only feet in the mix for Artist and no strikes from the hands yet…and a clinch attempt in the works, Achilles took the opportunity to finally get it onto the canvas.

Here’s the thing, if you don’t want to get taken down, those kicks better stay lower to reduce the chance of a counter. And almost all of Artist’s kicks were to the body or head, none to the legs. Yes, Achilles got him on a counter takedown after a clinch attempt by Artist, but this was only going to be a matter of time with all the kicks going high also. Unless…and that is a big UNLESS…Artist managed to catch him with one and KO him.

Once this thing was down, kick into exactly what Donkey said. With low morale, Artist was not going to last. It’s amazing that he fended off three sub attempts quite frankly before he succumbed to the fourth.

Nice pick there Donkey…anything to add…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I should have taken my pick to the bank Hare! We gotta get that bookie company up and doing something! Said I would put ALL of my money on Achilles in this ones, and that was the right call, unquestionably. Achilles moves to a very respectable 4-1 now, with his sole loss being to Vinicius Verreira. That’s not something to be ashamed of, Verreira is one of the favorites to potentially walk away with the championship from the Sorter Series. Artist on the other hand is 25 and now drops to 1-3. He desperately needs to catch a win in his next fight to even things up a bit. Unless he changes his clothes quite a bit for the next week or two and gets that morale up, it’s not going to happen though.

Suzy caught up with Achilles as he excited the cage…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Demi, fantastic win tonight and an exciting submission finish! The loss in the first round of the Sorter Series had to be devastating, but tonight seems to have been a chance to send a message with this win. What are your thoughts?

Demi Achilles: Just like everyone's been saying, my loss to Verreira was a fluke. So if I get a chance to fight him again I'll take it and prove it.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, Achilles is clearly fired up and ready to go! This is a man who clearly doesn’t appreciate a loss, and is ready for his revenge! You have to love that fire.

Lightweight CSS Round 2: #7 vs. #15

Vinicius Verreira Defeats Veljko Bakocevic via TKO (Strikes)

Speaking of Verreira and his aspirations to potentially be the first champion for the Lightweight division, here is the man himself! In the first of our three matches on this card that feature fighters still vying for the Sorter Series championship, and to be belted our first division champion, he manages to get past Bakocevic via a TKO to move on to the semi-finals.

And it didn’t take long to do it. Donkey technically gets another correct on this one, although he called for a KO. But 54 seconds into this one Verreira was able to lay claim to victory and while I’m not sure if Bakocevic coming in less than fully prepared factored in or not, I know one thing, it certainly couldn’t have hurt to be ready!

Bakocevic immediately went for the takedowns, desperate it seems to get this to the ground and pretty much abandoning any attempt to hide his intentions. He had four of them stuffed before he even knew what happened, and was already sucking air before the half minute mark! That’s never a good sign. And pretty much each time he was thwarted, he also paid for it with a counter to the nose, chin or body.

And, as we said, in just under a minute…Bako steps in, Verreira lets loose a straight left, and down goes Bako!

Ya called it Donkey, easy pickings eh…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Verreira was fully prepared for this fight and is clearly on a mission to try to make it at least to the finals. Well, he now has his trip to the semi-finals, so he inches closer! Bakocevic was not fully prepared, and this is what happens most of the time in those cases. Rather than give yourself the best shot possible, you take a shot, and set up the other guy for a highlight reel and potential KO of the Night.

Lightweight Main Card Bout

Mike Snot Defeats Damir Makarovich via KO (Punch)

Well, Donkey had a bit of a streak going there, but now Mike Snot decided it was time to put an end to that silliness. Donkey picked Makarovich via submission in this one mostly due to Snot having less than perfect morale. And while that can sometimes be an indicator of setting yourself up at disadvantage, it’s not always the be all, end all of the things to take into consideration.

For this one, Donkey was on the right track when he mentioned that Snot was the older fighter and probably had the advantage in physicals. I believe that was probably true, and probably had a lot to do with Snot fending off takedown after takedown over the opening minute of this match. And Snot paid attention to what it would take to win this…as Donkey said, “…should have quite the advantage in physicals, so if he can end this one early without being taken down, he has a shot.” That’s exactly what happened, Snot prevented the takedowns, and ended this one early after just a little over a minute in!

Snot shrugged off all of Makarovich’s takedown attempts, and most times paid him back with a shot in return to make those eyes water and think twice about the next one. Finally, Snot’s power took over, he landed a big right hand to send Makarovich down, then waived him back up so he could finish it with a straight right down the middle to connect with Makarovich’s jaw. Out…cold…baby!

Not quite right on this one were ya Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Snot certainly came out and proved me wrong on this one. Apparently pressing your luck too many times does NOT end up with a whammy, at least not in this one. Or at least, not for him, but Makarovich certainly got the whammy put on him! Ouch, brutal KO, a beauty, and it may have just stolen KO of the night from the fight prior to this! For Makarovich, here’s the downside to his plan...five takedown attempts, three clinch attempts, all failed. Nothing else, no mixing it up, nothing to keep Snot guessing.

Lightweight CSS Round 1: #3 vs. #6

Tua Graves Defeats Conor Notorious via Submission (Americana)

Whoa!!! Too funny here Donkey! I remember when we were discussing this one, you were pretty adamant about taking Graves via submission. And you even toyed with it being via Americana. But instead, you went back to the old bread and butter armbar! Well, shoulda gone with the gut buddy!

This one went sideways for Notorious right away. He needed to keep this one standing as he appears to have almost no ground skills with less than useful wrestling and a white belt in BJJ. Unfortunately, Graves made the first move from the bell, and it was a takedown attempt that couldn’t have been more successful! That meant Trouble, with a capital T for Notorious!

An arm triangle attempt…nope, not there yet…a little ground and pound to lighten up the mood. Then a kimura try…nope, still not there, ok, here’s a little elbow love and a few strikes to put you in the loving feeling. In the mood for a kimura yet? No…ok, let me give you a few shots from side control that show I care. Now, maybe the Americana? Oh! There we go, you like that one, good, let’s get out of this cage and go to dinner!

I think that’s how it went Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I don’t quite think that was the play by play there Hare. But, it was the end result, and it happened fast. I definitely want to see what Notorious can do with his standup in the future, but at the same time, if he can’t defend the takedown this is how it’s going to go against somebody like Graves I think. It’s the call I expected, it’s the call that came. Nice job by Graves, he knew where he could win it, and he took it there immediately. And now he moves on to the semi-finals of the Sorter Series!

Main Event

Lightweight CSS Round 1: #5 vs. #13

Bobolo Jubbly Defeats Valery Bokov via Unanimous Decision

We never got to find out if Bokov might try to keep this one on the feet rather than going to the ground. He has skills there, but knowing that Jubbly also has potentially better skills there, we weren’t sure if he’d try to stay up or go with another approach. However, for three rounds in a row, Jubbly initiated the takedown and got it not long after the bell!

If this went to the ground, we expected a war, and a war we got! Donkey said it might be, “a clinic in ground game and specifically Jiu Jitsu!”, and that was definitely the correct call! In the first round, Jubbly got the takedown, and then initiated project “subspam”, attempting a total of 13 submissions over the course of those 5 minutes. Wow. And yet, Bokov fended off all of them!

Round 2 comes, and heading towards the two minute mark, Jubbly gets the takedown again. But not before burning off quite a few attempts that were unsuccessful, and I have to admit I thought this might be the tipping point that would potentially tire Jubbly out and give Bokov his shot! Once down, Bokov threw in a sub attempt of his own and an eventual reversal. Jubbly gets his sub shots in also, with two that are again fended off! They stand up at one point, then back to the ground and trade off a couple sub attempts each.

Round 3 ended up a lot like Round 1, a Jubbly takedown followed by Jubbly sub-spam. Unfortunately, by this time the fans were tired of the same ole, same ole and started letting them know it as the boo-birds came out to play. Turns out, Jubbly was able to stay active enough and dominate the action in Rounds 1 and 3 that he took those, while Bokov got Round 2.

What about it Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Well, the fans may not have liked the repetitive action, but you really do have to be impressed with Bokov’s ability to refuse to submit over the course of all that time on the ground and so many attempts by Jubbly! It’s amazing that this thing went the distance, and that just speaks to the defensive skills on display! Nicely done, I’d like to see how this goes if they meet again in the future! Jubbly moves on in the Sorter Series though with this decision!

Sucker Punch Preview

Middleweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Semi-Finals

Well hello there Sucker Punch fans! Hare Rumpler here along with our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and our media correspondent, the unstoppable and tenacious Suzy Sucker Punch. I cannot believe we’re here finally! The first semi-finals of our six divisional Sorter Series tournaments! In just under 12 hours, we’re going to know which two fighters are going to represent the Middleweights in the final and each have a chance to sit atop this division for the first time as the standings and rungs of the ladder work themselves out! We’re getting a much better picture of each of the different tiers now, but how exactly this is going to turn out and who is going to be crowned the first champion is still to be discovered!

Tonight’s card will almost solely feature the Middleweights, with just one bout, the Main Event, featuring two fighters from Bwang Jong Sr.’s camp. Truth be told, that is a sparring bout test fight, so normally would NOT feature as the Main Event, but for the sake of the org’s event ratings, which will go a long way to benefit everybody involved, fighters, managers and staff here, the hype of that fight forces me to put it into the top slot.

The action should be fast and furious tonight, with increasing intensity as those who have started to establish themselves in the division will want to continue doing so, and those who may have come up short wanting to improve their position and prove that they belong higher up the ladder! And of course, those two semi-final matches for the Sorter Series meaning a TON for the four fighters involved as they HAVE to be able to just about taste the finals and championship at this point! Some are going to take that step just a little closer, and a couple are going to come back out with a little bit of a bitter taste, but hopefully still hungry to get the next shot!

So let’s get to it after a word from our merchandise partner and sponsor!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Once they have it, you check off that little box and make sure they’re using it during all of their training sessions…and bam…less energy lost during training, less time having to spend missing a session here and there while they sit out resting, and you keep them over 90% energy and gaining more skills! Now, let's get to it!

Middleweight Undercard Bout #1

Luis Garces (2-3-0) vs. Daniel Son Karate (0-3-0)

Sit down Donkey. Seriously, don’t look. Tell you what, cover your ears and I’ll take care of this one, and then you can come in at the end, but I want to leave the room first so I don’t have to hear you lose your shit, okay?

Alright folks, now that Donkey’s out of the room, let me get through this quick like before he gets impatient and heads back in here. We have two guys here to start off the night who both desperately need to get back on track. Luis Garces is 2-3 in his career, but comes into this fight on a two fight losing streak, having lose one QFC match before coming to Sucker Punch and then being submitted by Angenor De Oliveira in his first fight with us. That’s not something to be distraught about necessarily, because De Oliveira is an accomplished submission artist. What is something to be upset about is when your manager lets you come into a match that you very much need to win, or at the very least come out with a strong showing, but doesn’t address a complete and total lack of morale…this boy should have been changing his clothes every day for the past two weeks trying to get his spirits up and get focused on fighting.

Daniel Son Karate needs a win. He’s 0-3 in his career so far, and his manager Donnie Jackson is undoubtedly trying to figure out the puzzle of what’s going to allow Daniel to be successful. My guess is that Jackson is probably the type that doesn’t want cheap wins, but certainly if you’re going to serve the up on a silver platter, he’s unlikely to scoff at them either. Tonight, that’s likely what they’ll get, one served up on a platter as long as they take care of business. With no morale, Garces should be easily put away. However, it should be noted that Karate has some issues of his own, with his energy just slightly off and his morale not ideal either, although nowhere near as low as Garces. That means they’re going to have to be super careful and not take this for granted tonight!

Ok, Donkey, you can come back in…but let me leave the studio first…?

Donkey’s Pick: Karate via TKO (Strikes)

Hare thinks too little of me if he thinks I’m just going to blow my lid and lose my shit here. Does it make me a bit crazy to see this? Yes. But the potential loss that’s going to come from not having your fighter prepared falls on the manager and nowhere else if it comes to be this evening. Perhaps in an ideal situation it would happen anyway, but you can’t blame it on the skills until you give them a full fighting chance. Karate has a big opportunity here to get his first much needed win. He’ll want to keep this one standing, get his shots in, work Garces over and get that finish. What he does NOT want to do is let Garces take it to the ground and get a cheap quick GnP finish. If Garces has any will at all, that’s likely what he’ll try to do.

Middleweight Undercard Bout #2

D B Cooper (1-4-0) vs. Jim Beam (0-2-0)

Ummm…well…uh…Donkey? Why don’t you, well, you know…just kinda leave the room. Yeah…again. No? Ok, fine, stay, but you’re about to get pissy. Maybe you won’t lose your shit, I was proud of you last time…but…oh, yep, there’s the scowl…yep, it ain’t gonna make you happy!

Here we go again folks. Our second Middleweight fight of the night. Our second one where both competitors really need to right the ship and get on the winning track. And yes…our second one where one of the two is very, very much unprepared for a fight.

Jim Beam comes into this fight 0-2 and very much in search of his first win. Both losses have come to him here at Sucker Punch. So he no doubt really wants to change the view of many of the fans out there on him and start turning them into HIS fans. And he’s doing it the right way. He’s lost, yes, but this man has gone back to his gym, prepared himself the best he can, and here he comes tonight prepared to give it his best shot to get a win! Yamashita Craven has ensured that the reason for a loss will NOT be preparation. Beam has the ability to win this standing up as the better boxer, and being that his overall ground game is potentially better, with equivalent wrestling to Cooper and better BJJ…he may be able to win it on the ground as well.

And Cooper apparently is willing to try to make it a bit easier for Beam to do just that! Or at least, David G, his manager, is. Cooper is following Garces lead from our first fight tonight and coming into this fight with almost zero morale. No spirit for the fight, no confidence and certainly not much will to win. And that’s not good, being that his advantage in this is in the clinch. Man, you gotta WANT it in the clinch, and want to impose your will and break the other guy’s will while at it! That’s hard to do with no morale. I expect to see Cooper walk away from this one 1-5.

Ya ok there Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Beam via TKO (Strikes)

I’m not going to lose my shit. I’m not going to lose my shit. I’m not going to lose my shit…breathe deeply…Ohhhhmmmmmm. Yeah, ok Hare, this is extremely disappointing. And I think after this card, we’re going to have to probably sit down and discuss who continues to “make the division” at Sucker Punch and maybe who doesn’t. Cooper is giving this one away. Could he shock and amaze and win despite his manager putting him at a huge disadvantage. Sure. That’s always possible. But I’ll get against it EVERY DAMNED TIME. Beam gets his first win tonight, just like Karate in the first match. And it’s being handed to him as long as he goes out there and takes it!

Middleweight Undercard Bout #3

Crisis Smoove (0-2-0) vs. Nyah Hirst (0-0-0)

%^$&$^$$$$!!!!! Screw this Donkey, you may be staying in control and composed, but I’m going to lose my shit for you instead!!! You can’t be serious. Three fights…three times one of our fighters comes into it unprepared. What the flip, man!!!

Nyah Hirst has his Sucker Punch debut tonight…as a matter of fact, this is his professional debut as a whole! And while he was probably hoping for a really good, memorable fight…he’s going to get an opponent who is less than prepared. And ohhhh, soooooo unprepared. Donkey may be keying in on one aspect of Smoove’s lack of preparation, but when he hears what else I know…well, he’s going to be just flat out pissed.

But let’s focus on the positive first here. Hirst is a very young 18 year old fighter out of Xyel Pain’s camp. He’s one of our youngest kids at Sucker Punch, being in the 361k creation range. He has good, proficient wrestling and very good boxing. And I anticipate he’ll use that combination to win with his hands tonight, whether it be standing up or on the ground. His choice, and you’ll hear why he probably gets to dictate this fight.

Ok, for the first part that will trigger Donkey…yes, Smoove comes into this fight with about half morale. That’s not good. And that doesn’t bode well. Especially for a dude who has already struggled to get a win. But…and brace yourself Donkey…he’s also been pretty much ignored by his manager close to a fortnite now…and…hasn’t been training! *ducks* Yes…no training Donkey…you heard that right. So dirty clothes, no training and an absent manager.

So um, yeah, over to you Donkey…!

Donkey’s Pick: Hirst via TKO (Strikes)

Congrats to Hirst on his upcoming victory! Wooooo! That’s all I can say. It’s his to take, like I said about the others. And then, he’ll move on and prepare to focus for the next card where hopefully he’ll face somebody who is prepared. But that won’t be Smoove again. Because not only wouldn’t we pair them twice in a row, but Smoove’s manager has already been MIA more than once, we’ve already cut his other two guys from the organization, and tonight is Smoove’s last night with us as well as I’m letting him know right now… “Youuuuuu’re…FIRRRRRRRRED!” Oh, wait, I don’t have that authority? That’s Hare’s job? Yeah, trust me, I’ll Donkey kick him in the nuts if he doesn’t take care of this!

*********

Middleweight Undercard Bout #4

Kirill Krasnov (2-3-0) vs. Longsun Zhao (2-0-0)

Uh oh…Donkey…I hate to say this…but…HAHAHAHA! Nah, man, I’m just F’in with ya bud! No, now we get into some fights where the guys involved, and the managers they’ve entrusted to prepare them, seem to have their shit together! WOOT! Now that’s a nice change!

Zhao comes off two wins to start his career, which I’m thrilled to say were both here at Sucker Punch, with the last one being the Fight of the Night! He’s a Muy Thai artist but has shown he can win both via KO, as he did last time, or via a submission which he shocked Daniel Son Karate with in his first fight.

Krasnov is 2-3, with his last two fights, his first fights here at Sucker Punch with us, being split with a win in the first round of the Sorter Series before being ousted by a very talented and tough Wanderson Machado in Round 2. He’s a ground submission specialist, and he had his shot against Machado but just didn’t get the job done in the limited opportunity he was given when he got it to the ground. Krasnov has the age advantage, and therefore likely the physicals advantage as well, over Zhao. He will have the advantage on the ground with his Jiu Jitsu, so despite Zhao having won via sub in his first fight, he may want to steer clear of taking on Krasnov on the ground.

Instead, Zhao would probably be well served to use his standup, possibly even the clinch, to wear down and abuse Krasnov while trying to keep the fight from going to the ground.

This should be a very, very good fight and I’m excited to see this one!

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Pick: Krasnov via Submission (Armbar)

I have to say, this is a really, really tough one to pick Hare! And I also can’t tell you how happy I am to have to say that. That means these guys are prepared, and that thrills me! Anytime I’m looking for whatever little advantage I can see that might separate them and help me make a pick, that’s a great thing! For this one, I’m going with Krasnov solely based upon age, that’s how hard it is to pick. I’m going to assume his physicals might be better as you said and that may help him control the fight, get it to the ground and give him the opportunity for a finish. But Zhao has surprised us before, and could very well do it again!

Middleweight Undercard Bout #5

Ivan Smirnov (2-0-0) vs. Jacques Piaget (1-1-0)

As we move into our fifth fight of the evening, we have another really, really good fight on our hands! This is one of those fights that has the potential for an “Of the Night” award written all over it, and I can’t tell you which one, it’s that unpredictable!

Smirnov looks to have the skills and drive that if he’d been with the org sooner, may have gone far in the Sorter Series. Unfortunately, he’s not in the bracket but has been making the best of it by showing what he has against the likes of Jim Beam and Daniel Son Karate. Both wins via TKO (Strikes), this man loves to use his hands! And not just standing, he’s more than comfortable going to the ground and delivering the pain, with a special place in his heart for being in mount and making it rain on his opponent!

Smirnov had better watch himself though if he tries to get in and take this one to the ground though. Piaget is a terrifyingly dangerous man on the feet, having finished his last fight against Smoove with a lethal head kick that has officially branded Piaget as a headhunter! No joke, Smirnov will likely want this on the ground, where he can use that brutal GnP…but to get Piaget there, he’s going to have to risk life and limb…well, maybe his head, rather than a limb, but you get the idea!

If Smirnov can get it to the ground, this likely goes to him. If not…well, better keep that head on a swivel my man, cause Piaget can end it!

What direction do you think this goes in Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Smirnov via Submission (Strikes)

This is an absolutely fantastic fight and matchup I think! This could end fast, or this could go a distance and harbor a lot of pain for both fighters! I’m so excited for this fight, it has the potential that it could be a Main Event of its own! So anybody getting to the arena late, I don’t want to be you if this goes down how I think it could. Fortunately, I’m paid to be there, so I won’t be missing it. You look for advantages…I don’t see one. This is going to come down to the managers…can Tyler Hammond give his young fighter the tips and tricks he needs to get the win? Or does he get out-managed by Jean Blanc and have the victory stolen away? I know I have to pick, but I’m covering my ass here by being as indecisive and waffley as possible! Ha!

Middleweight CSS Semi-Finals: #5 vs. #8

Vinchito Routerhead (2-0-1) vs. Angenor De Oliveira (2-1-0)

Donkey…prepare thyself! I know…this is the first of our two semi-finals for the Sorter Series…two of the remaining four fighters vying for that big shot at the championship of this tourney, the chance to wear the belt first and the chance at a big bonus and bigger contract. And yes…one of them is a bit unprepared.

Routerhead was a big favorite to go deep in this Sorter Series tournament. And so far to date, he hasn’t disappointed. He took on a very, very formidable foe in Round 2 in Lannister, who was a very deadly submission artist and managed to come out of it still alive and ready for more! I think getting past the #1 seed like that surprised a lot of people, despite Router’s skillsets.

He’ll face Angenor De Oliveira tonight, who didn’t win in his second round fight, but put up a good show and moves on due to Bill Sherman’s management going MIA. Unfortunately, Angenor would already have faced an uphill battle in this exciting opportunity against Routerhead…but he comes in at a further disadvantage with his morale about half what it should be. That does not…well, you hear me say it often in these situations…bode well. And Donkey certainly won’t like it. So I think I know who he’s picking.

Donkey, surprise us with your pick, will you…?

Donkey’s Pick: Routerhead via KO (Punch)

Routerhead likes to punch you in the head. Hard. Angenor showed that he could be taken out via KO in his last fight. And he comes in with less confidence than you’d like. That sounds like a pretty laid out scenario to me, and it’s hard not to think that this is going to lead to smelling salts for Angenor in this situation.

Middleweight Main Card Bout #1

Buster Scruggs (2-0-0) vs. Psiris Fuhren (2-0-0)

The battle of the 2-0’s!! Unless something freaky happens, one of these men is leaving an even better 3-0, and the other is stepping back to 2-1 after this fight!

Scruggs is 26 years old and comes into this fight MOSTLY primed and ready, with the morale just a little off. Fuhren is 20, so gives up some advantage in age, but has been training longer from a younger age than Scruggs. He’s very primed and ready, with a full gas tank and confidence to boot!

Fuhren is a pure striker and stand-up artist, with about the same boxing skill as Scruggs, but a definitive advantage in Muy Thai. I would expect him to take this into the clinch and attempt to assert his dominance and control there, that is, if his lack of wrestling ability will allow him to do so. Unless his grappling is up to snuff, he may struggle, but could also surprise us and simply try to win this striking from distance.

Scruggs is no stranger to dishing out the pain, and taking some, while standing and striking with his opponents though, so don’t expect him to shy away from a battle where they decide to go out there and bang! He’s won both of his matches via TKO, one striking from separation, the other punishing an opponent who thought the clinch was the better idea and learned otherwise.

Donkey, how about it…?

Donkey’s Pick: Scruggs via TKO (Strikes)

Wow, another very tough one to call! I love it! Yes, this is going to be a slug it out, in your face, let’s see who can knock who’s block off contest! At least that’s my prediction. I’m going to go with Scruggs due to age and the advantage it potentially brings, but the days of being able to call that an advantage are quickly coming to an end! This should be a good one, and it’s going to end in a bang I think!

Suzy spoke with Slick Gunderson, manager for Psiris Fuhren, earlier this week as their camp was making the final preparations for the fight this week…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Thanks for taking a few minutes to speak with me Mr. Gunderson! Exciting week coming up, Psiris has his first fight with the organization and puts his 2-0 record on the line against a tough Buster Scruggs. I’ve heard whispers that Donkey is leaning towards picking Scruggs to win this, and Hare has been talking the fight up around the office but not really committing to his pick. Do you have any words for the fans or Hare and the guys back at headquarters before this fight?

Slick Gunderson: I do Suzy! Hare, I know you like to do your little predictions and breakdowns but here's a spoiler: Pain, lots and lots of pain. Buster Scrubs wanted an opponent but instead you handed him a short-notice death sentence. Psiris Fuhren is scared of no man, let alone some leg-humping wrestler who literally hails from Shittown. It's funny how that, too, describes his fighting style. Psiris scratched and clawed his way to Sucker Punch through a stream of blood, sweat and determination. This isn't about belts. This isn’t about money. This is about fulfilling a destiny and that destiny begins June 17 with a first-round KO of Buster Scrubs. Bring your best. He's going to leave you at your worst.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Wow guys! Buster Scruggs and his camp have definitely been put on notice…and that should make this fight that much more exciting! Just big talk before a fight, hyping it up, or the beginning of some bad blood? I don’t know, but we’re going to find out!

Middleweight Main Card Bout #2

Tyrion Lannister (6-1-0) vs. Al Briscoe (1-3-0)

Oh boy, and if you thought the last few fights were going to be exciting, just you wait for this one!

You have Al Briscoe who was unceremoniously dispatched from the Sorter Series in the first round by Wanderson Machado…but has since come back to lay down the pain in his last fight against D B Cooper! He comes into this with a win under his belt and with his confidence on high. And that confidence has to be elevated being that he saw his opponent tonight, Tyrion Lannister, the former #1 seed of the tournament, get dispatched via a striker. Granted, a striker with some great ground defense and overall fantastic skills, but still…that has to put a glimmer of hope out there for Briscoe that he can reproduce that recipe for success!

Then, you have Lannister himself. Coming into this fight tonight no doubt with a chip on his shoulder and a belly full of pissed offedness after having his undefeated record, and a chance at winning the tournament, unexpectedly come to an end. Don’t think for one second that this man doesn’t want to come in here, take Briscoe down, and submit his ass in record time just to make a point!

Striker versus Submission Artist. Classic matchup. Let’s the games begin!

Donkey, what do you think…?

Donkey’s Pick: Lannister via Submission (Kimura)

I’m not trying to take anything away from Briscoe with this pick, but Lannister was a #1 pick for a reason and Briscoe was #15. Going by that alone, you have to look at this as almost like a first round matchup in the Sorter Series where the top seed should win. But…as you said…Lannister’s Achilles heel was exposed! Can Briscoe do the unthinkable and down Tyrion a second time in a row?

Suzy managed to get through to Al Briscoe’s gym two days ago…and while he didn’t have much time, he spoke with her VERY briefly…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Al Briscoe, so nice to be able to catch up with you. The fans are all no doubt wondering about your preparation for this fight against former #1 seed Tyrion Lannister. Any thoughts for us?

Al Briscoe: Watch me destroy my opponent Tyrion in the 1st round. Wins will keep coming for me now. *click*

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well guys, that was short and sweet. Clearly he has other things on his mind besides talking to me! And they don’t sound like they include losing to Lannister this week!

Co-Main Event

Middleweight CSS Semi-Finals: #2 vs. #6

Wanderson Machado (3-0-0) vs. Brendan Moker (2-0-0)

Donkey, I almost wish this fight didn’t have to be…at least not yet in this division! But at the same time, damn am I excited to see it happen!!! What do you think means more than these two gladiators…going on to the semi-finals of the Sorter Series…and potentially being the champ down the line here…or, retaining those beautiful undefeated records they both are sporting?

There is a TON on the line for these gentlemen tonight…this is a winner take all, go out of the cage screaming to the gods and the fans in sheer joy if you win. And a back to the drawing board, planning out your strategy to come back and get revenge for the guy who loses!

Both men come in fully prepared. Machado has the skill advantage, which is why he is the #2 seed overall in this tournament. But Moker has proven that he can’t be overlooked. And if we’ve learned anything in this Sorter Series, it’s that everybody is human and can be taken down! Moker can go deep into a contest and wear you down, then get you when you’re running out of gas and finally ready to be finished. He has the boxing advantage and if he can keep this on the outside, definitely has a shot.

Machado is the older fighter with more depth to his physicals and all-around game most likely. He’s a clinch specialist and you don’t want to test this man’s Muy Thai skills, as that test will likely just result in a whole lotta love…er, wait, no, a whole lotta pain! He will get you in that clinch, use and abuse you, and make you wish you just felt dirty afterward. Moker definitely needs to avoid that!

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Machado via TKO (Strikes)

It’s an uphill battle for Moker, but you don’t get to this point in the tournament without having skills and the ability to trust in your manager! He can do this, but he’s going to need to go about it just right. Otherwise, Machado is probably too much to handle unless the fight goes perfectly for Moker. May the best man win and represent this division in the Finals, whoever that may be! And whoever that ends up being, they will have definitely earned it after this one and nobody will be able to ask “Who have you fought?”.

Suzy also called in to Brendan Moker’s camp earlier this week and spoke with Jeff Mma for a bit…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Jeff, I really appreciate your time, I know this is a very busy week leading up to the HUGE fight with Machado! Some are saying that Brendan has to come in with a definitive plan to win this one, and maybe even a little bit of luck. How do you feel about the way you have him prepared heading into it this week?

Jeff Mma: Brendan says he is ready for his fight against Wanderson. After analyzing Wanderson’s previous fights we noticed he likes the clinch a lot. Brendan focused on strength and clinch work during his training camp to be fully prepared on the clinch fight. We know Brendan is the underdog in this fight, but Brendan told us he wanted to shock the world with a big KO. We will see how it goes, but the confidence is there. One thing I know for sure is that Brendan isn't going down without a fight!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Jeff, thank you so much for your time! It sounds like Moker’s head is on straight, and now he just has to go out there focused and ready to bring his best! Good luck to you both.

Main Event

Sparring Bout – Bwang’s Boys

Cheik Imbula (32-18-2) vs. Razkan Karmax (1-0-0)

I won’t go on and on about this one as it’s pretty straightforward. This is nothing more than a “See what the young kid has” bout. Clearly Karmax has most of the tools that his manager, Bwang, likes to see for the kids in his stable. But does he have them ALL? That’s the key. If this kid has good morale and can take a loss and not lose his confidence, then boy oh boy, could this be yet another in a long line of future greats for the Bwang Jong Sr. camp?

Expect this one round, three minute affair to go by pretty quickly and probably with Bwang trying not to get his kid hurt out there while seeing that last piece of info.

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Imbula via Submission (Kimura)

My guess is this one goes to the ground fast and clean, with a quick tap out to avoid injury. At least, I think that’s what I’d be instructing my boys to do. We’ll see if it goes the same way tonight! This is one of those fights that the fans will watch as they’re walking out and getting themselves ready to head to the parking lot after the excitement of all the ones that led up to it, think of it as more of the music that plays during the credits at the end of a movie!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Our Middleweights back and on the attack! Damn, I see some rough going, and some disappointment in preparation early in this card…but at the same time, the later fights….Wooooooweee! They should be some GREAT ones! So get your ticket, put your ass in that seat, and prepare for some Sucker Punch Pro Series excitement!

Enjoy the show, and till next time…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Tyrion Lannister

"Let me give you some advice, bastard..."

You're going to destroy me, eh? Well, you think exposed limbs are the only thing I can crank on? You're going to feel the pain no man ever wants to even think about. You'll be tapping out while the ref is wondering what in the hell I have a hold of forcing you to do so. Meanwhile, Hare will be sitting front row trying to figure out how much of a bonus for inventing a new low blow maneuver. Then you can go click yourself.

Lannister has his feet on Briscoe's thighs here. He's pushed Briscoe off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Briscoe screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Tyrion Lannister

See bastard, I told you what would happen. I have to admit that being able to stretch enough to fool the ref into thinking it was your arm must have been painful, but I'm impressed at your.. stature.

Best of luck in you're upcoming fights lad, Now since none of you other limps have the balls to step up, I will take on Rob Tanner, highest P4P fighter in the org. All the rest of you posers need to grow a pair and be willing to fight. This ain't no pansy league, if you think you're going to lose, just sneak in a low blow. (ask Briscoe's *arm*)

Tanner, you're quite the accomplished fighter with a good manager. I know you'll bring you're "A" game, but you can bet your ass I'm bringing mine too! Lets do this!! Accept the fight and lets light this bitch on fire!

Post Event Cheap Shots

Middleweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Semi-Finals

Hello, hello Sucker Punch fans! Here we are, a day or so removed from the Middleweight Sorter Series Semi-Final event, and boy did we have some great action, and surprises! I’m Hare Rumpler, along with our analyst, Donkey “Dan” and Suzy Sucker Punch our feisty media correspondent.

When we did the preview for this card, to say that Donkey and I were less than thrilled with the way the card appeared to be starting out would be an understatement. Several of our fighters appeared to be less than fully prepared to fight and that’s never encouraging. But wow, did they have some surprises in store for us, and to some extent, you could say they shoved our words right down our throats! Well, let that be a lesson to us! Hmmm…well, no, we probably won’t learn from it or change in any way, but hey, they got the last laugh this time at least.

Our card featured the Middleweights including two fights for the semi-finals of the Sorter Series tournament. The rest of the card contained 7 other Middleweight bouts being used to sort things out a bit in the division along with one sparring bout that was featured as the Main Event due to its hype level.

So, let’s hear from our sponsor and then get on with this review!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

“Blah blah blah…my fighters don’t need supplements…blah blah blah…”. Yeah, we’ve heard that before, and you know what? Every manager who has ever said that ended up with fighters that were left behind developmentally down the line, and after about six months to a year, they’re trying to figure out why they’re getting toasted by fighters of similar ID and age. That’s because without Shadow Warrior Nutrition and their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, your fighter will either spend more days sitting out resting during training sessions to get energy back, or, if you aren’t resting them, training at less than 90% energy which is REALLY bad. So do the right thing, do what you know you need to do in the long run for your fighter! Show him the love and head over there today to get the best energy loss reduction supplement you can buy, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Middleweight Undercard Bout #1

Luis Garces Defeats Daniel Son Karate via Submission (RNC)

Prepare yourself Donkey. And when I say prepare, I mean, seriously prepare. Like, perhaps even lube-like preparation. Cause yeah, these first two fights, yep, they took our concerns and shoved them where the sun don’t shine. Ouch.

We were not happy with Garces’ preparation for this fight. He literally came into it with less than 5% morale, which is normally an absolute, dead killer when it comes to a fight. This should have been Daniel Son Karate’s fight to walk away with…and yet, someway, somehow, Garces managed to win! Unbelievable. Truly.

Let me ask you guys something here…because I’m perplexed. Let’s say you’re up against a guy with little to no morale. And let’s say that guy has a history of submission victories. And, let’s say that you also have a history of having been submitted and to date not having had success on the ground with your blue belt in BJJ. Clearly, that says, “I should try to take this other guy to the ground!”, right? Yeah, I didn’t think so either, but apparently that’s what Karate decided to do here.

And that’s how you manage to walk away without a victory against a guy with no morale. By saying, “No sir, I don’t want this W, you can have it.”

Ok, Donkey, what do you have here…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I’m going to start off here with what I finished the review with, which was, “What he (Karate) does NOT want to do is let Garces take it to the ground and get a cheap quick GnP finish. If Garces has any will at all, that’s likely what he’ll try to do.” Ok, so he got the submission rather than the GnP finish, but the point was, you don’t want to be on the ground. So yeah, anyways, Garces gets the win. Karate walks away 0-4 now, which puts him in a very rough spot. And, on top of that, we cut Garces anyway because his manager has been MIA again for another 12 days.

Middleweight Undercard Bout #2

D B Cooper Defeats Jim Beam via TKO (Strikes)

It might be time for us to stick our collective heads in the sand and hide here Donkey. Because yes, once again, we chastised a fighter, namely Cooper in this case, for being unprepared and having no morale…and yet, he came through and got the win! Wow. I’m starting to question everything I know here Donkey!

At least with the last fight, we could make a case for strategy playing in to the way it turned out. For this one though, no luck. I’m having a tough time figuring out exactly how Beam got taken out and how Cooper found it within himself to go out there and win this one. With so little morale coming in, perhaps he just had such an uber aggressive strategy that it allowed Cooper to overcome it and Beam wasn’t quite prepared for the intensity of it early on? This one lasted under 2 minutes, so it certainly seems that could be the case.

Cooper pretty much had this one out of the gate, taking it to Beam, cutting him, getting Beam to actually step into the clinch at that point where Cooper had the advantage (and then surprisingly, Cooper was the one to break the clinch!) and then just generally taking it to Beam. Beam was intent upon throwing a ton of kicks in this one, and those can leave you open to the counter if they get up high, which is sorta what happened when he went for a body kick, missed, and got tagged by a huge right hand from Cooper.

Donkey, you recovered enough to talk here…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Very surprising indeed Hare! I’m a bit shocked, but hey, kudos to Cooper for overcoming the odds and finding a way to win! He showed determined early on, and perhaps that determination allowed him to push through such low morale and still come out on top. Or just really good strategy selection from his manager perhaps! Either way, it’s scary to think what Cooper might be able to do if he comes to the cage fully prepared with his morale up! For Beam, a very disappointing loss. He moves to 0-3 and puts himself in a big hole.

Middleweight Undercard Bout #3

Nyah Hirst Defeats Crisis Smoove via TKO (Strikes)

Alright Donkey, now the world is returning to some sort of normal after those first two shocking results! You called this one for Hirst via TKO (Strikes) in part due to his skills and also in part due to Smoove’s lack of preparation, manager involvement and having had no training of late.

Hirst came in and did exactly what he was supposed to. A little over 2 minutes, every single one of his shots, with the exception of one head punch, landed, and boom…down goes Smoove!

There’s really not much more to say here. Hirst took care of business, and that’s all you can ask for! It’s almost like he was making a game of this, like one of those Wack-A-Mole games or something…knock Smoove down, wait for him to pop back up, rock him again…wait…repeat, then, go for the big finish! Now he moves on, and he’ll be a little more challenged in his next fight!

Over to you Donkey, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Hirst is a promising young fighter who seems to have a very good learning speed. His skills are already up there on par with those who started training about 2k or more in ID earlier than he did. It’s going to be exciting to see what he brings to the table as he continues to progress. For Smoove, Donkey did the right thing and let him out of his contract early the morning after the fight.

*********

Middleweight Undercard Bout #4

Longsun Zhao Defeats Kirill Krasnov via KO (Head Kick)

Well Donkey, you said that Zhao has surprised us before and could potentially do it again. Well, guess what, he’s made you 1-3 on the day so far when it comes to your picks!

Zhao steps up and rises to the challenge yet again in this one, and in doing so moves his record to an impressive 3-0, all here with us at Sucker Punch! With this win, he cements himself into the top 6-7 fighter in the organization and will be in a great position on the ladder to try to continue moving forward with his career.

Krasnov had to be disappointed in this one. We really thought he’d take it to the ground, and honestly, he may have been planning to try to do so. But instead, he planned to set it up with a little striking mixed in, and unfortunately for him what got struck was his head…twice…once with Zhao’s fist and the other with a lethal high kick! A high kick that the play by play guys rightfully called as a highlight reel KO and easily the KO of the Night!

There’s really not a whole lot to say here, this one was over so fast that if you blinked, you missed it…but going by the crazy response of the crowd when they saw that kick land, I’m thinking not many missed it!

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

An insanely fast finish, and Krasnov probably had to have his trainers and manager explain to him what happened afterward. Certainly disappointing for him, his manager Yury Bagrov and camp Russian Invasion. But for Zhao, he’s proving that he better not continue to be overlooked or underestimated. And you have to love that he’s been showcasing a myriad of ways to finish! You have to wonder…does this kid have what it takes to become champ in the future? Time will tell, but he’s certainly making a strong case for it!

Suzy grabbed Zhao as he exited the cage, expecting to see him smiling after a big win…instead…

Longsun Zhao glares at Donkey Dan from across the cage, you can almost feel the icy stare, before taking the mic from Suzy Sucker Punch. Foregoing his interpreter to speak himself…

Longsun Zhao: Donkey Dan, you absolutely suck, three fights and you doubt Tiger Swallow from age? 14 seconds I end man's career, for you 3 seconds end your life, next opponent you!

Mr. Hiromoto, Zhao’s interpreter, steps in quickly and converses before taking over: Lan Di Sama say, very proud of performance, and looks forward to next fight.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Ummm…Donkey, I don’t think Mr. Zhao here is very happy with you. You may want to wait for security before you leave tonight. I could be wrong in what I got from that, but it sounds an awful lot like Longsun plans to finish you next, in a lot less time than it took in this short fight!

*********

Middleweight Undercard Bout #5

Ivan Smirnov Defeats Jacques Piaget via Submission (Arm Triangle)

Donkey gets back to picking them right with this one. Smirnov and Piaget were set to have what we thought would be a fantastic match, and for almost an entire round, it did not disappoint!

Just under a minute into this one, Piaget landed a HUGE head kick that took Smirnov off his feet, rocked and cut him. He waved Smirnov back to his feet, then tagged him again with a strong jab to put him back onto the boat, rocking away…but wait…Smirnov, even rocked, was able to formulate some sort of defense and then out of nowhere Smirnov managed to get himself a takedown!

Wow, ok, so when you’re in trouble, get the damn fight to a place where you can recover with the advantage! And that’s exactly what Smirnov did. Will Piaget regret not having followed him to the ground and finishing him with strikes? Probably not, even a rocked Smirnov, obviously, is dangerous on the ground…but damn, to be that close to finishing…

Smirnov went the next minute or two recovering while also delivering some punishment of his own to Piaget as sort of a return gift of thanks for those shots he took earlier. But here’s the brilliance of a well-rounded ground game…he had Piaget so focused on defending against the strikes that when, after just about 4 minutes, he switched and suddenly went for an arm triangle it was totally unexpected and undefended! A thing of beauty, truly. But one that Piaget will want back without a doubt!

How about that Donkey…?!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

That, right there, may very well be both the Fight of the Night as well as the Sub of the Night. Just a great piece of work, both men giving it everything and putting some great skills on display. Even more credit to Piaget…this man did NOT tap out. No, no, no. No tapping for this man, if he was being finished via a triangle, he was going to be told about it after waking up…because that’s what it took, Smirnov had to put him to sleep to get the sub victory! I don’t know about you guys, but I’d love to see a rematch of this one down the line some day.

Middleweight CSS Semi-Finals: #5 vs. #8

Vinchito Routerhead Defeats Angenor De Oliveira via TKO (Strikes)

This fight didn’t last past the first round, and we didn’t really expect it to. Angenor unfortunately came in a little bit unprepared for the fight, and against a fighter of Routerhead’s caliber that’s not going to go well.

Angenor never threw a punch in this one. That has to be something he’ll look back on the next day and regret, especially with two takedown attempts being unsuccessful. And then add insult to injury, his opponent takes this one to the ground and finishes it via TKO before Angenor can muster up the will to do what he does…try for a submission.

Routerhead did what we expected. He delivered misery in the form of punch after punch. He did it standing apart. He did it heart to heart. He did it on the ground. Everywhere he did pound! Dr. Seuss would be so proud of me Donkey!

Donkey…? Hello…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Oh, yeah, hey Hare. Sorry, I felt like my brain was having some sort of seizure having to put up with that nonsense of yours there! Routerhead proves again why he’s going on to the Finals for the Sorter Series with this win! And a nice new shiny contract to boot! De Oliveira has skills, and he’s shown them to us before. He just needs to be fully prepared when he comes into these fights. I’m guessing he will be next time. And I’ll be thrilled if he steps up and shows us what he’s made of!

Middleweight Main Card Bout #1

Psiris Fuhren Defeats Buster Scruggs via TKO (Strikes)

In this next battle, things went exactly according to plan and just how we thought they would. Well, almost. Except for the whole who got their arm raised afterward thing. But you know, technicalities and all!

This one was earmarked as a slugfest and sure enough, that’s exactly what it was. Just over a round of stand up and bang fun, the thing that surprised us was that we really thought Scruggs would have the advantage outside the clinch. But that is not the way it worked out, as Fuhren never bothered with the clinch and rather decided he could not only go toe to toe, strike after strike, but best Scruggs at his own game.

Now Donkey, I usually like to let Suzy take care of all the interaction with the managers and such. But I was speaking with Bob Loblaw, Scuggs’ manager, yesterday. And both he and I are still in amazement that Fuhren was able to dominate this from separation and knock Scruggs’ socks off! We really can’t explain it, my only possibly explanation is that maybe Fuhren just has very superior physicals right now?

Donkey, how about it…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Well, Suzy did speak with Slick Gunderson before the fight, and he had predicted pain. Fuhren’s camp seemed more than confident in the outcome, and good for them, they managed to back up the big talk! For Scruggs, it’s a disappointing loss, but also against a top caliber opponent who moves himself into the top 6-7 fighters in the division. And that leaves Scruggs sitting just outside looking in around the 8-9 spot. He’s shown enough quality, skills and training though that he’s still right up there with them, and if he can turn it around next fight, he’ll have the chance to prove that he deserves to be up there in the top 6!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, there was a ton of emotion after this huge fight, and although the fight was one dimensional in the standup, many are talking about it as possibly the Fight of the Night. Did you see Fuhren in there after the win with the ref? He was clamoring for the mic and had plenty to say!

Post fight, Psiris Fuhren took to the microphone: Raise my hand. Ref, raise my hand. There's a virus going through Sucker Punch. And it's coming for you. I want competition. I want sponsors. I want money. I want war.

Suzy Sucker Punch: A deflated Scruggs had only a quick comment for me before heading to the showers…

Buster Scruggs: Well shoot.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, I’d also like to say that I was ‘lucky’ enough to come across Slick Gunderson, manager for Psiris, afterward, but he made ‘luck’ no part of that by finding me! Slick, thank you for finding me here, a big fight, a big win for Psiris. Anything you’d like to say about it? Clearly you do have a thing or two since you found me!

Slick Gunderson: Do I have something to say? Do I have something....to say? Is that even a question? A few days ago, Donkey didn't think we had a Lobovs chance in an Octagon of winning that fight. He said we were gonna lose by...T...K...O. I hope you didn't wager all your winter hay on that, Donk. Because that was a baaaaaad bet. If you would've been paying attention, I told you Psiris Fuhren would do exactly what he did. Dominate. In spectacular fashion. Keep lining them up. Keep counting us out. Because we're going right to the top, by any means necessary. Now if you'd excuse me...I have business to take care of.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well there you go guys, this camp is full of excitement and definitely feeling the win! And Donkey…I hope you won’t be short for the winter either. That makes me sad. Haha.

Middleweight Main Card Bout #2

Tyrion Lannister Defeats Al Briscoe via Submission (Armbar)

For the life of me, I will never understand what happened in this fight Donkey! I mean, I get what happened, Lannister won via submission, which we suspected would be the case. So I understand that part. What I don’t understand is why Briscoe, who would have needed to win this one via standup and not in Lannister’s kitchen…decided that trying for a takedown right after the bell was a good idea? Seriously?

He was almost given a gift…well, actually, he was given a gift…when Lannister stuffed his first attempt. But then, having not yet come to his senses, Briscoe proceeded to go for one a second time! I suppose he really thought that he could do more damage on the ground with some GnP than he could standing up. And he did start landing some wicked elbows. But, I mean…damn man, down there, with a guy who has subbed out 6 guys previously in 7 fights? Yeah, not where I’d want to be. But maybe I’m just askeered or something.

Briscoe should have been askeered too. Because right after he got done with the elbows, Lannister got hold of one of those arms, flipped around, cranked on it and had Briscoe screaming in pain and tapping out. Twenty-seven seconds in. Done, over.

Hey Donkey, the one time you don’t call for an armbar…!?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Yeah, this may have been a case of confidence…running a little too high. Briscoe must have been feeling himself coming into this one and had his understanding of Lannister’s ground game get a little unclear in his head. One of those things where afterward you go, “Um, ok, yeah, that didn’t work out like I’d planned.” Lannister on the other hand makes a case that he’s been defeated only once and, possibly, could call it a fluke? Well, no, he was up against a very good fighter there, but yeah, maybe it coulda gone either way any given day. He proves he’s a top contender, and will now move on to see if he can not only prove it further, but earn that designation. He’ll take on Tanner next, who most have dodged to this point, as Tanner has been sitting waiting for this tournament to end to get a shot at the champ. But he’ll have to go through Lannister first before he gets that shot!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Lannister took to the forums following the fight to not only call out Briscoe once more, but also to give notice to the division, as well as his next opponent which will determine the top contender.

Tyrion Lannister: See bastard, I told you what would happen. I have to admit that being able to stretch enough to fool the ref into thinking it was your arm (referring to grabbing and twisting Briscoe’s…well, you get the idea) must have been painful, but I'm impressed at your…stature. Best of luck in your upcoming fights lad.

Tyrion Lannister: Now since none of you other limps have the balls to step up, I will take on Rob Tanner, highest P4P fighter in the org. All the rest of you posers need to grow a pair and be willing to fight. This ain't no pansy league, if you think you're going to lose, just sneak in a low blow. (ask Briscoe's *arm*)

Tyrion Lannister: Tanner, you're quite the accomplished fighter with a good manager. I know you'll bring you're "A" game, but you can bet your ass I'm bringing mine too! Let’s do this!! Accept the fight and lets light this bitch on fire!

Co-Main Event

Middleweight CSS Semi-Finals: #2 vs. #6

Wanderson Machado Defeats Brendan Moker via TKO (Strikes)

Two undefeated warriors met in this one to determine who would earn the opportunity to go on to the finals and potentially walk away with the first belt for this division.

Machado did what Machado does. And that’s clinch, abuse, finish. He’s done it before. He’ll do it again. And this fight didn’t go any differently. He got the clinch early and dominated the action, dictating the pace, the aggression and the results right from the start. Moker was put on the defensive right away, and was never really able to recover from the onslaught as Machado was dishing out the punishment, and not in shy, small helpings either. Almost a full round of abuse was all it took, with Machado landing 59 shots…ouch.

For Moker, this is going to be a loss he wants to forget fast, but learn from…and then move on. No doubt he’ll consider in the future if he needs to up the aggression factor for these types or fights in order to try to put the opponent on the defensive a bit more, or if he simply needs to cultivate his skills to find another way to counter a guy like Machado.

Donkey, any thoughts…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

You said it all, Machado dominated from the beginning and there was no looking back. He’s earned his shot to go on to the Middleweight Sorter Series Finals, and will have the opportunity to win the championship as well as the 50k bonus prize money. Unfortunately, we’ve already been informed that he will no longer be with us after the Finals are complete, as from what we’ve been told, another organization out there has approached him in a poaching scenario while he was under contract. That’s disappointing that another org would do something like that if it’s truly the case. What that means for us though is very clear…normally I’m objective when it comes to the fights and the results Hare, you know that. Yes, I make my picks, and yes, I base them upon a lot of factors and have a lot of opinions on them, but it’s never personal at all and my rooting for one guy over another is limited to simply my gut on what the result might be. But, now I have a horse, well, maybe a Donkey, in this race…and clearly, I’ll be rooting for Routerhead in the finals. If Machado wins and leaves the org, we have to strip the belt which causes a huge hype hit for us and is really damaging.

Sparring Bout – Bwang’s Boys

Cheik Imbula Defeats Razkan Karmax via TKO (Strikes)

The outcome of this last fight was already all but predetermined. Apparently, the method was not. We thought that maybe this would be a quick takedown and submission to eliminate any damage and simply learn what needed to be learned. We were wrong!

Instead, Imbula took this into the clinch immediately, and for just over one long minute dished out a ton of punishment to this young kid! Ouch! Talk about paying your dues and being schooled by the old grizzled guys in your camp! This was like some sort of nasty hazing ritual before finally being allowed into the brotherhood officially!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

It was Hare, but it seems to me that Karmax not only passed his test, but has likely moved on from “pledge” to fully qualified member of the team with this loss. Seems funny to say it that way, but he already had good hiddens, had shown a good learning speed…and now…we see that this loss barely moved the needle on his morale! Wow, Bwang Jong Sr. is likely creaming himself over this one! Very nice, a future champion???

Sucker Punch Preview

Heavyweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Semi-Finals

Ohhhhh Yes! The big boys come out tonight, and the entire city of Sydney is about to feel their power! Hello Sucker Punch fans, I’m Hare Rumpler alongside our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and our ridiculously energetic media correspondent, Suzy Sucker Punch. I hope you’re all ready for some big time action, because big time fighters are what we have in store for you this evening! And even for those who may not have made it big time yet, well, at least they’re still…BIG!

Our little, well, not so little, Sorter Series featuring the Heavyweights is now down to four remaining fighters still vying for the championship and trying to be the first belted champion of the division here at Sucker Punch Pro Series! Alongside them tonight, we’ll also have seven other Heavyweight bouts for you, along with one sparring bout test fight to start off the evening for a couple of young kids hoping to become a permanent part of their manager’s stable.

I’m very excited to see who will be moving on to represent this division as some of the top fighters it has to offer, as well as see who takes the next big steps forward on their way up the ladder from the rest of this crew! Either way, when the big boys come to play, it’s always a fun night, so let’s get to it!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Shadow Warrior Nutrition will be on hand at the event this evening, and I cannot say enough about how much we appreciate having them as our merchandise partner and sponsor here at Sucker Punch! Do yourself a favor…better yet, do your fighters who you spend so much time developing and preparing a favor…and stop by the stand to grab some of their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q. It is literally the best energy loss reduction supplement money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting! Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Bonus Sparring Session

Rokchai Sitsongrit (0-0-0) vs. Repus Revorg (0-0-0)

To start things off tonight, we have a couple new kids on the block going out there and attempting to show their respective managers what wonderful additions they’d be to the permanent stable! Or at least, that’s what they’re hoping to show.

My own Repus Revorg has shown himself to be a very fast learner, so now the question is, does he have a chin? Or even, maybe, does he have some KO power? Please, please don’t let this dude like comics for crying out loud! He’s a brand new member of our gym, so he comes to us with basic fundamentals here, a base of Muy Thai and not much else. We’ll make a man out of you kid!

Across the cage will be one of Theksit’s young wards, Rockchai Sitsongrit. He’s been training a bit longer than Revorg, so you might expect him to win unless Theksit gives him some really funky instructions, like go out there and pretend to do your best ‘faint and fall over’ impression! Here’s what I want to know…why are so many fighters over there sitting on grits? I mean, I know grits aren’t for everybody, it’s a southern United States thing I believe, and definitely an acquired taste. But they’re meant to be eaten people, not sat upon! Well, unless they’re uncooked and still in big commercial bags, then I suppose if you need a break, you could sit on them. But…still, that’s a lot of sitting around over in that camp!

Donkey, whatcha got there buddy…?

Donkey’s Pick: Sitsongrit via TKO (Strikes)

I think it’s a last name thing Hare, not some southern cooking thing or a tendency to take breaks in the middle of the hot summer day. Sometimes I don’t know what’s wrong with you. Anyways, good little sparring bout here, with the intention being for both managers to figure out what hiddens are, well, hiding and then see what the morale is like for whoever loses. Other than that, there’s not much to take away from this, although don’t tell these two fighters that. For them, this is a make or break fight potentially for their entire career. So they want to show the very best out there!

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #1

Andrejs Medvedevs (2-6-0) vs. Dookie Shoes (0-2-0)

Ok, now we get into the big boys! And before we even get started, don’t worry. There will be no references or questions about why there is dookie on anybody’s shoes or anything like that. Donkey already warned me that I’d better just stay away from the potty humor this time around. Apparently, he must think my jokes really stink…like Dookie’s shoes! HA! You can’t stop me Donkey, I’m unstoppable!

Speaking of shoes stinking, I’ll probably be able to distract Donkey’s attention away from my jokes…as soon as I tell him about the morale and clothing situation for these two! Yep…uh oh.

Medvedevs’ morale is at just about zero. Probably due to the last two fights where he’s taken L’s in both. The last was here at Sucker Punch against Drizzy Haze, where he was TKO’d in the third round. Since then, clearly he hasn’t been changing the clothes regularly in order to get that morale back up. Not a good thing. Lucky for him, he’s not the only one in that situation in this fight, although he’s definitely got the worst of it.

Shoes also has just under half his morale, and still has his tightie whites on. He’s lost his only two fights of his career, both via KO, and really needs a pick me up win. He also needs to…oh, did I mention…change those clothes for new ones!

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Shoes via TKO (Strikes)

Clearly both of these young men need a win. Shoes is a pure striker with both boxing and Muy Thai skills. He’ll want to keep this on the fight and take advantage of his skills there. Medvedevs has more well-rounded skills, but definitely has the advantage on the ground. He has previously won a fight via submission, and that may be his best route to a win in this one as well. Shoes has at least half his morale and a solid chin. Medvedevs has no morale right now and has previously shown determined. I’m going to go with the guy with at least some morale here and say he gets his first win tonight!

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #2

Emir Dervisevic (3-3-0) vs. Tnt Winner (4-1-0)

The last time we saw Winner here at Sucker Punch…well, we didn’t see him. Well, we did, but only at weigh-ins, and then a couple hours later…when he failed to make weight. Which left a disappointed Sammy Mo without a fight for the evening and month last time around.

This time, I’m happy to report that Winner is set with the weight and ready to go. His morale isn’t ideal, but it’s not horrible either. Winner is a ground specialist with strong wrestling and a purple belt in BJJ. Three of his four wins, all in QFC or QFC Tournament matches, have come via submission.

Winner’s opponent for the evening will be Emir Dervisevic, managed by Emir Brosnian. Donkey, do you think this guy brought this kid on only because he likes his first name? Nah, I’m sure there were plenty of other reasons! Like maybe the fact that he’s a boxing specialist who has managed to win via KO twice out of his three wins, the last of which was a beautiful KO with the knee!

Over to you Donkey, what do ya have for us…?

Donkey’s Pick: Winner via Submission (Kimura)

The last time we saw Dervisevic, we underestimated him and picked Dookie Shoes over him. He proved us wrong and took out Shoes in spectacular fashion. I’m doubling down though, and taking Winner this time, because I just can’t put my hat in the corner with somebody who has zero morale coming into the fight. As we saw earlier this week with the Middleweights, they can certainly find a way to win even with no morale, but I’m certain that I’ll come out on top more often than not when I pick against that!

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #3

Sith Rebel (1-0-0) vs. Donald The Donald (0-2-0)

Our fourth fight of the night, third for the Heavyweights, features a newcomer to Sucker Punch!

Sith Rebel has a record of 1-0 from a QFC fight he took prior to joining us. He’s a fairly young fighter, with a focus on wrestling. In that prior fight, he was actually knocked down right at the initial bell by Dave Ouellet, but managed to recover, get the fight to the canvas after the first minute and then work his ground and pound from there.

Rebel’s opponent tonight with be The Donald, who is currently 0-2 seeking his first win here at Sucker Punch. He’s lost to Aron Egomi and Rick Hatton previously, and will definitely be looking to try to break that streak tonight. He’s primarily a standup fighter, with strong boxing and mediocre Muy Thai, but also has a little wrestling. What he doesn’t have, is new clothes. He’s in his tightie whities and that explains why his morale has not improved from his prior losses yet. In addition, it appears he’s going to come into the fight tonight at just under 90% energy. Not a fantastic combination, something Donkey will likely not like seeing!

This fight should be very similar to Rebel’s first fight…Donald will want to stand up and punch him in the head most likely…and Rebel is going to want to get this to the ground where he has the advantage.

What do you have for us, Donkey...?

Donkey’s Pick: Rebel via TKO (Strikes)

You were right in your suspicions that I wouldn’t like the combination of low’ish morale and not quite topped off energy. For that reason alone, I take “the other guy”, Sith Rebel in this one. I suspect he wins this the same way he won his first fight! If that happens, it’s going to send The Donald to 0-3, somewhere he does not want to be! So he needs to prove me wrong tonight and turn this thing around. If he doesn’t, it’s time to listen to the Donkster and get some new clothes man! And keep changing them daily until that morale is up! Dang Hare, are we going to have to contract out a clothing company to get a bunch of duds sent over to the fighters in our org so we can convince them to change em up and come into these fights smelling fresh and confident? We just might have to do that. Yo, clothing guys out there, get in touch, we got a contract for ya!

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #4

Victor Ballsawash (0-2-0) vs. Rick Hatton (1-3-0)

Our next fight brings us to the end of the front half of this card, and with it we have Victor Ballsawash versus youngster Rick Hatton. Donkey, Hatton was chomping at the bit for this fight…oh, damn, I’m sorry Donkey, was that a microaggression there with a chomping at the bit reference around you? Damn buddy, I’m sorry!

Anyways, yeah, Hatton really wanted to get this one going, so I hope he’s ready for it! Ballsawash is doing his best to help Hatton out as well, coming into this one just over half full on the morale-o-meter there. There we go again, man, I gotta tell ya, a lot of the guys in this org just don’t seem to care about the good ole morale!

Ballsawash is the better wrestler while both of these kids have a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu. Rick has the advantage in boxing, so I’m thinking Ballsawash may have to find a different way to go about winning this one. Will he clinch maybe? Or take it to the ground and try to win via some GnP? When Hatton was clinched up with Baddaboom, it didn’t go so well for him. But then again, Baddaboom had significantly better wrestling than Ballsawash, so that’s not a given that Ballsawash could be successful there.

Hatton will want to stand and bang, that simple. That’s what finally got him his first win in his last fight, and it’s likely the direction he’ll go in this one as well.

Any thoughts there Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Hatton via TKO (Strikes)

Ballsawash is definitely susceptible to being finished in the standup, he’s looked out of sorts with it previously and been KO’d…ironically by Baddaboom, the same guy who beat Hatton previously. I’m not liking the morale lacking there, and therefore I’m going to go with Hatton and guess that he tags Ballsie there good before he can get it to the ground.

Suzy Sucker Punch: I ran across Kyle F, manager for Rick Hatton earlier today while at the hotel bar. He was stepping in to get himself a drink, and some fluids for Hatton after the weigh-ins. I tried to get him to comment on the upcoming fight tonight with Victor Ballsawash…but…

Kyle F: I’d like to let Bomb Squad Lighting Hands know I’d be happy to add another L onto his record if he’s interested. :)

Suzy Sucker Punch: Dang, now that’s some wrong-doing right there boys! Totally disrespecting his opponent for tonight by pretending either he doesn’t exist or he’s already moved past him with the W to the next potential opponent! Wow.

*********

Heavyweight Main Card Bout #1

Rob Gaunce (3-0-0) vs. Jack Ripper (4-2-0)

You know Donkey…I think I’m just going to get to the point where I don’t even say much about these fights when one of the two guys comes in not fully prepared. Seriously. I’m just going to go, “Yeah, so and so is low on morale, so over to you for the pick Donkey!”. That sound good? What!? What do you mean I still have to do my job, that’s bullshit man! If they don’t do theirs, why do I have to do mine?!? Hahaha.

So yeah, Jack Ripper is only about a little over halfway on his morale…perhaps 60%. And…he’s been neglected. His manager has been gone for the past 2 weeks now. As a matter of fact, we just recently let one of this manager’s other fighters out of their contract early for that reason, and undoubtedly we’ll be doing the same for Ripper after this fight. So there ya go…guess you know who I’m rooting for here eh?

That’s right, Gaunce! Gaunce is 3-0 so far with two of those wins coming while here with us at Sucker Punch. One was over Mike Tyson…no, not that Mike Tyson…nothing like that Mike Tyson, Donkey…haha. The other was his last fight over Curley Cal. Ironically, both guys who have both since been cut from our org for…um, yeah, manager inactivity! Wow, so…is Gaunce like the grim reaper for managers? He gets a fight contract with one of them, and then the manager just runs away?!? Seems that way! Stop that shit Gaunce, we need our managers to stay active man!!!

Anyways, Gaunce is a really well balanced fighter, with a focus on his boxing, but definitely an ability to finish on the ground also as he showed us in the Curley Cal fight, winning via submission. Which way will this one go? Only Gaunce knows!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Gaunce via TKO (Strikes)

I’m not just picking Gaunce because you plan to can Ripper there Hare. But it’s a good reason to root for him to be sure! No, I’m picking him because he is more prepared for this fight, and I like his ability to win this thing in multiple ways. No matter where this fight goes, Gaunce should have an answer for Ripper. And, if it goes according to plan, Gaunce will be 4-0 and ready for probably his first big test to see where he belongs on the ladder once we’ve belted our first champ!

Heavyweight Main Card Bout #2

Brian Mcclean (0-0-0) vs. Bomb Squad Lighting Hands (1-3-0)

Oooh, we have a newcomer on the scene here in this one Donkey!

Brian Mcclean will be starting off his professional career here with us at Sucker Punch tonight, and he’ll be doing it against Bomb Squad, um…LIGHTING…Hands. Does Bomb Squad like, blind you, or something with those hands? Like bam, put the jab out there, and leave it there, and let the hands glow real bright, then come across with a good hook with the other? I’m confused.

Mcclean goes by “The Bully”, and while we haven’t seen him fight yet, I can only assume he’s been doing this sort of thing since he was a kid? I’m not sure if Hands is going to just roll over like the kids on the playground though, but we’ll see! The Bully is skilled in wrestling and Jiu Jitsu and will want to use both against Bomb Squad as two of Squad’s losses have come on the ground via submissions.

Squad on the other hand has wonderful boxing, and would probably be well served to keep this one on the feet and use those brilliantly lit hands of his to finish off Mcclean. Whether he does it via strikes, or glowing him to death, is up to him!

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Pick: Mcclean via Submission (Armbar)

Hands is coming into this one slightly low on energy and a little less low, but still somewhat, in morale. Neither are seriously bad, although giving up any energy, even 15-20% like he is in this one, is never a good idea. That being said, I’m picking Mcclean anyway, as I have a feeling that that ground game is going to be too much for Hands if Mcclean can get this to the ground.

Heavyweight CSS Semi-Finals: #10 vs. #14

Aron Egomi (3-4-0) vs. Thoth Chontamenti (2-1-0)

Ok Donkey, we’re getting into the really big ones now! I mean, all of our matches are big for the guys fighting, but some have a bit more of a direct and immediate importance to them. For these two, it’s a matter of winning a trip to the Finals in the Heavyweight Sorter Series! And that chance to fight one more after this to potentially be our very first champion for the division!

Both of these men have overcome the odds to get this far, with Egomi coming into the tournament as the #10 seed and Chontamenti coming in as the #14 seed! But make no mistake, both of these men are forces to be reckoned with, and whoever wins this will deserve it…and the next challenger should be fully prepared for a heck of a battle.

And you know what I love, that both of these guys are fully prepared for this fight. That’s going to thrill Donkey, no doubt about it! Chontamenti has the height and weight advantage in this matchup, coming in about 14 lbs heavier and about 25 cm taller. Chontamenti likes the ground work, with two submission victories in his last two fights. His sole loss was, strangely, also a submission, but with Chontamenti on the wrong end of a kimura.

Egomi is a well rounded fighter and has shown an ability to win in a variety of ways, especially since coming to Sucker Punch! He’s left the days of fighting at “that other place”, where he was used and abused in a bad situation almost every time, and has proven that he has the skills to compete…and win…when put on a level playing field! He won his last fight against Ripper via a beautiful Head Kick, but showed his ground game in the fight before that by subbing out The Donald. My thought is he may want to stay off the ground with Chontamenti though!

Donkey, over to you, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Pick: Chontamenti via Submission (Kimura)

Wow, I think this is the first one tonight where I finally have to sit back, and really ponder this for a bit! Which is fantastic, exactly how it should be for the Semi-Finals! I have a feeling that at some point, this one does end up on the ground. And when it does, Chontamenti should have the advantage. But remember what Hare mentioned, Chontamenti has lost via submission as well, and Egomi has proven he can pull off a sub, so really, anything can happen in this one and it may come down to who wants it more, who’s manager provides the best guidance…and maybe even some luck!

Suzy was able to reach out and speak with Rob Hell, manager for Aron Egomi yesterday…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Hell…oh there Mr. Hell! Sorry about that Rob, Hare made me promise I’d do it, I told him it was lame, but you know him. Can you imagine what it’s like to be Donkey and have to deal with it several times a week?!? Anyway, big, big fight coming up tomorrow against Chontamenti for Aron. Any thoughts on the fight?

Rob Hell: Thoth Chontamenti has much better values than Aron but we are not cowards and the Sucker Punch show must go on!

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well said Mr. Hell! But I think you guys don’t give yourselves enough credit! Go out there and make it great guys!

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #5 vs. #8

Rumble Johnson (3-1-0) vs. Bigga Baddaboom (2-0-0)

Our Co-Main Event features the second of our Semi-Finals matches for the Heavyweight Sorter Series tournament! And boy, for the big boys division, you couldn’t get any bigger sounding names in your Co-Main Event than Rumble Johnson and Bigga Baddaboom!

Boom is 2-0 in his career, having started out here with Sucker Punch in this Sorter Series and so far he’s cruised along in this tournament. He’s left a wake of disaster behind him, having finished Rick Hatton via TKO (cut), a nasty finish I might add, and also knocking out Victor Ballsawash in the last round! This right here is a man who can clinch you up and hurt you, or stand apart…and…well…hurt you. He’s got respectable boxing, according to the scouts, but if you ask his opponents I think they might mention it’s a bit more than respectable…and then you combine that with wonderful wrestling which makes him very dangerous in the clinch.

Johnson is 3-1, with one of those wins coming before joining Sucker Punch in a QFC fight. His other QFC fight, his first ever, was a loss, possibly intentional as a test fight. Since joining Sucker Punch he’s 2-0 in the Sorter Series and has won both via TKO and KO. He has strong boxing, but seems to prefer using that while beating the crap out of you on the ground, where he also can pull a surprise submission victory out of nowhere if you aren’t paying attention!

This should be an exciting one, full of hands! Let’s throw hands guys!

Donkey, you have a call here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Baddaboom via KO (Punch)

Another very, very tough one! This one, much like the last fight, is going to depend upon whether it goes to the ground or not I think. If it gets to the ground, Johnson could be one tough customer. On the feet, you have to think that Baddaboom has the advantage, but Johnson shouldn’t be forgotten about or disrespected there either. Tough call, really tough one! Baddaboom has slightly low energy, but I think it may not factor in, this one might be over before energy comes into play. I’m going to go with the upset here. Although everything inside is telling me that Johnson’s more well-rounded ability may give him more opportunities!

Suzy was also able to catch up with Mikey C yesterday, even though they were busy travelling and getting ready for the big fight tonight…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Mikey C, thanks for taking a moment, I know this is a really busy time as you guys prepare for the fight tomorrow night. How are things looking, is Rumble ready for this?

Mikey C: We said everything we needed to in our Buzz to Baddababyface on June 4: "Six feet four and 263 pounds. Boy, until I met you I didn't know they could stack crap that high."

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well, if anything will fire up and opponent and have them coming at you hard and fast, that’s the type of statement that will do it! But maybe that’s part of the plan by Johnson’s camp guys!

Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

ZaDarius Haden (2-0-0) vs. Random Lik (4-0-0)

Ok, so not one of the bracket fights for the Heavyweight Sorter Series, but a bit one here nonetheless for the Main Event! Why? Because the winner of this fight may possibly to end up being one of the top contenders in this division and has a very good chance of being either the first or second challenger for the belt after it’s established. That is, if they can keep the winning ways going for another fight after this! So yeah, big stuff on the line here!

And it doesn’t get any bigger than these two, with a combined six wins between them, and skills galore! Haden is brand new to Sucker Punch. Managed by Zeke Gunner, he’s a very well rounded fighter with the types of tools that can hurt you! He won his very first fight at Conquest via a KO, and managed to outlast Admir Bosnic in his second fight to get a Unanimous Decision victory. So he can win fast, or he can go the distance, pick your poison! Oh, and just in case you were thinking, “Yeah, I’ll just win fast instead!” Well, he has a granite chin, so good luck getting to that!

Lik is managed by Jovan Vukota and has run through everybody he’s faced so far. 4-0, this man has two TKO’s, a KO and a submission victory on his resume! Not too shabby. At all. His TKO’s and KO have all been finished in the first round as well. Lik has a good chin as well, not granite, but good, so if these two go out there and decide to bang, this will get really interesting!

Donkey, a potentially very, very violent contest here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Haden via KO (Strikes)

I’m thinking yes. That is, unless Lik decides to get tricky and take this to the ground. And that may possibly be how this one ends, because the standup is dangerous for both men, and with that granite chin, the best path to victory for Lik might be on the ground. But honestly, it may not get there. I think potentially Haden throws the big one and lands it in this one.

Post Event Cheap Shots

Heavyweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Semi-Finals

Well how about that shit Sydney?!? The big boys not only came to rumble, but they shook the whole damn house in the process last night…and by house, I mean SYDNEY! Damn, a fun time and the crowd was killing it with the energy they were sending down the guys in the cage, and that energy was returned right at them in these fights. An exciting event for Sucker Punch! I know that I, Hare Rumpler, as well as our analyst, Donkey “Dan” and our media correspondent, Suzy Sucker Punch, really, really appreciated being able to be on-hand…and hell, being paid for it! What a deal!

We had nine Heavyweights fights on the card, two of which featured our four remaining fighters still vying for the championship and trying to be the first belted champion of the division here at Sucker Punch Pro Series! The card also started off with one sparring bout test fight that definitely got the fireworks going right out of the gate!

I can’t wait any longer Donkey, let’s get to it!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Thanks to our sponsor, Shadow Warrior Nutrition, we’ve brought in an extra 4-8k or so per show that really does help to offset the losses that our events incur at the moment.

Bonus Sparring Session

Rokchai Sitsongrit Defeats Repus Revorg via KO (Superman Punch)

In just under two minutes, Sydney felt the pounding energy of this stadium kick in as our first fight…well, sparring match, but this turned into a fight…kicked things into high gear!

That’s right Donkey, usually these bouts are nothing more than a quick formality, an appetizer to get things kicked off and give a couple of kids a chance to see what they’ve got…and more importantly, show their managers what they’ve got. But no, not this one! No sir, this one was the type of fight that gets a crowd buzzing and gets them sitting there…no, standing there...just begging and screaming for more!

Donkey picked Sitsongrit to win this one, and he expected with with a bit more training time, and also coming from such an accomplished manager’s camp, he was going to come out on top probably via TKO. Well, he picked the winner right, but nobody could have legitimately called this finish. This started out a bit standard, a good shot or two from Revorg and more than a couple returned by Sitsongrit…and then…SUPERMAN PUNCH…OUT OF NOWHERE!

Oh yeah Donkey, this card was gonna be like that! If your asses weren’t at your seats yet for this one, they sure were once the noise spread and brought everybody looking to see the replay up on the big screens!

Donkey, how about that…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

You couldn’t ask for a better start for a show Hare! Two minutes, these two went toe to toe, traded a few strikes…and then…wow. Sitsongrit showed that on top of his star-powered approach to finishing his first fight, he also has a granite chin! Theksit has to be one thrilled manager following this one. I’m sorry to say that the poor bastard on the receiving end of that Superman Punch was none other than your very own Repus Revorg there Hare. But, hey, good news? He showed himself to be heavy handed…and with the loss, didn’t lose a ton of morale! That’s a definite positive. However, one thing to check for and definitely look into…was that Superman Punch just something that caught him out of nowhere and the nasty KO a fluke…or…does Revorg have a questionable chin? Time may tell.

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #1

Andrejs Medvedevs Defeats Dookie Shoes via Submission (Kimura)

Medvedevs comes out and surprises us in this one and beats the odds to come away with the win! He came into this with almost no morale, and while Shoes also was low on morale and energy a bit, his wasn’t as bad. Donkey naturally always goes against that scenario, but boy, was he wrong this time.

It took Medvedevs no more than 30 seconds to find his way to the ground, just where he wanted to be as Donkey mentioned in the preview. And then, just before the two minute mark, after fending off a Dookie Shoes sub attempt, he nailed his own sub and finished this one off. Kimura for the win!

This was a much needed win for Medvedevs, who now moves to 3-6 in his career and 1-2 while here with us at Sucker Punch. For Shoes, he moves to 0-3 and is in a bad way, really needing to turn the tide and find a way to start coming out with the W.

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I really did think that Shoes was going to walk away with his first win after this one. But alas, that was not in the cards for him last night. He’s now lost via KO twice, and also via submission after this one. My suggestion to both of these fighters is to go back, get some new gear on, change it out a few times and get that morale up. Train hard, but not below 90% energy, figure out what you need to focus on not only for what you want to do to your next opponent, but what you want to focus on to help stop them. And then come in here with a good plan for your guy, and tell him to go get it done! Medvedevs may have taken a step in that direction with this fight.

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #2

Tnt Winner Defeats Emir Dervisevic via Submission (Armbar)

Donkey, I swear, any time you call for a submission, and DON’T call it via armbar…I know exactly what it’s going to turn out to be. It’s almost too funny at this point. But yep, not only did Winner show up and make weight for this fight…YAY!...but he also managed to walk away with his first W here at Sucker Punch!

With that win, Winner improves to a very nice 5-1. We’ll need to see what he’s really got in him over another couple fights, but that’s a very good resume to bring to the table, and certainly has to get him into the conversation of things sooner than later.

Dervisevic came into this one without any morale going on. Sure, we’ve seen others beat the odds with that, but damn, it doesn’t help. And many times, really hurts against ground games for whatever my observations are worth. So it comes as no surprise that the bell rang, Winner got the takedown, and then immediately got the armbar submission…and with it, the new record for fastest sub by a Heavyweight!

Over to you Donkey, what do ya have for us…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Hey, I’ll just be happy having picked the winner correctly. Anything else is icing on the cake, Hare! With this loss, Dervisevic sees his record slip back down to .500 and is now 1-2 while at Sucker Punch. He’ll need to figure out his plan going forward and get that morale issue dealt with, as you can only live on QFC victories from the past for so long! For Winner, this improves his record, but we need to see what he’s made of outside the QFC. Four wins while over in the QFC is nice, but careers can’t be built on that and now he’s on the path to really showing what he can do! We’ll be really looking forward to his next fight to see if he can continue down this winning path.

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #3

Sith Rebel Defeats Donald The Donald via KO (Strikes)

Ok, we move into our fourth fight from the card, and Donkey nails this one! Sith via TKO (Strikes)! Sith is undoubtedly thrilled to move on and keep his perfect record intact. But with each win, you move up the ladder, and the opponents get tougher and tougher. He’s going to have to stay focused and bring his A game every fight.

For this fight though, it was a very quick affair, lasting only 40 seconds. The Donald moved this to the clinch right out of the bell, and Rebel used that opportunity to transition to the ground. Initiate operation “rain the pain” by Sith, and this one was over fast! And what a way to finish! Brutal hammerfist! Dang. That one left The Donald OUT COLD baby, and wondering when the fight would start…and why he was laying down…after his corner and the doc woke him back up.

Nasty finish, and the crowd was just eating it up, you could just feel the place shaking with the energy over that one!

Donkey, you mentioned that The Donald needed to prove you wrong and avoid going to 0-3. He fell short of doing that, most likely as you mentioned due to a combination of low’ish morale and energy.

Over to you Donkey, what have you got for us...?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I’ll say it again, just like I did in the preview. For Donald, it’s time to listen to the Donkster and get some new clothes man! And keep changing them daily until that morale is up! I also mentioned in the preview that Hare and I may need to look into a clothing company that can send some Sucker Punch duds out to the fighters in this org. That’s looking more and more like it’s more of a “absolutely have to” than just “need to”. Gotta get these guys cleaned up, they represent Sucker Punch and we can’t have them chasing the ladies off with their BO!

Heavyweight Undercard Bout #4

Rick Hatton Defeats Victor Ballsawash via Unanimous Decision

With this next one, we finish off the front half of the card. But don’t think, oh, great, we’ll be on the Main Card in no time! No, these two had other plans and took this one the distance.

Surprisingly, this one stayed on the feet most of the fight, which is exactly what Hatton would have wanted. Ballsawashdid get manage to get this thing down on the canvas for the second half of the first round, but that was about it, and his opportunities there were limited to two sub attempts that ultimately were unsuccessful.

That turned out to be Ballsawash’s chance right there, because the standup would favor Hatton and did. Surprisingly, Hatton was not able to finish this one, even against an opponent coming in less than fully prepared. Ballsawash spent the majority of the fight trying for takedowns that were never successful again, with twenty failed attempts. Combine that with, well, 21 failed combinations in standup and this boy gassed out and just didn’t have it in him to get to the ground and give himself another opportunity to win it.

For Hatton, his striking was good. A lot of combos failed to land, and that will certainly take its toll, but he got the job done, scored the points he needed and gets the much coveted W.

Any thoughts there Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Hatton via TKO (Strikes)

Hatton’s morale is running on high as he picks up another win, and this 17 year old is starting to show what he has and stringing them together now. He’ll need to stay focused, as his position on the ladder will afford him another fight or so that should be winnable with good planning and training. But it’s only going to start getting more difficult, especially for a young kid like him. For Ballsawash, the one promising thing that comes from this…his morale didn’t take a huge hit from the loss. He was already low coming in, and it didn’t move a ton. That means this kid has some good confidence, he just needs to change those clothes, get it all the way back up, and give himself the best shot at success. Get that confidence up high, and use it to drive him to some wins! He’s 0-3 now, but if he can start turning it around, it’s not too late to make something of this!

At the hotel after party that evening, Suzy had a chance to catch up with both Rick Hatton and his manager, Kyle F for a few brief moments…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Guys, congratulations on another big win today! You have to be riding high on confidence after two wins in a row now, proving that you may not have stepped into the cage too soon after all! How are you feeling?

Rick Hatton: VB landed a lot more strikes than expected and was a gamer in this fight. I’m happy to have got the win, stayed patient and kept the fight standing. Plan was to take our time and tire Ballsawash out which turned out to be harder than we expected. Hell of a fight and if VB would have come in with a stronger camp it could have been an entirely different story.

Kyle F: The team is happy with Hatton’s development and growth but this match really showed us that we have a lot of holes to plug. Hatton’s only 17 so we have time. But a better prepared fighter with better morale could have had a field day in this fight. We have worked a lot on the grappling game recently. We need to work more on the stand up also. Hatton got hit far too much and looked really sloppy tonight. We expect better out of him in his next outing.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Well, Hare and Donkey and fans, there you have it! These guys seem to be taking this in stride with the right amount of staying down to earth. They seem to have given proper respect to their opponent, which is always good to see, although Hare might disagree as he always likes the fiery stuff! Also, they seem to have a good eye for what they’re going to work on, so expect an even more prepared Hatton next time around!

Heavyweight Main Card Bout #1

Rob Gaunce Defeats Jack Ripper via Unanimous Decision

Donkey, I’m a bit shocked this one went the distance! Really, I expected Gaunce to finish this, and clearly you did as well with your pick from the preview. He still gets the W, but letting it go to the judges was not what saw coming for this one.

This one was all over the cage folks! And to be honest, I thought you had the pick and finish correct about a minute and a half in Donkey! Gaunce dropped Winner with a nasty combination, and Ripper was definitely rocked! But Gaunce failed to finish him, and Ripper managed to recover. And…dude, he looked winded already! And yet…he still managed to see this thing through to the judges, simply shocking man!

This was all over the cage. Sometimes up, sometimes down, where Gaunce usually does some of his best work…but he was instead surprised a bit with Ripper going for a few submissions of his own down there. But yeah, for three rounds Ripper somehow managed to fend off Gaunce, refused to give in, and even kept Gaunce honest enough by going for subs consistently which had to be making Gaunce a bit more tentative.

Donkey, surprised…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A little bit Hare. I certainly expected a finish, but these things happen and sometimes a guy will surprise you. It’s a shame that Ripper doesn’t have a more engaged manager, because it feels like he has some decent potential the way he hung in there. But, he doesn’t, and you let him out of his contract early today. Gaunce gets another W, and moves on to see if he can really show he’s ready to be in line for a shot at the belt within the next couple months!

Heavyweight Main Card Bout #2

Brian Mcclean Defeats Bomb Squad Lighting Hands via Submission (Kimura)

Well this is certainly one way to make your debut there Donkey! Mcclean comes in and finishes via a beautiful submission. And…this is too funny, you guessed Armbar…so of course, now it’s Kimura! I love it!

Hands did well when this was in standup. The strikes he threw, which weren’t many but were targeted well, landed for the most part. But he just wasn’t able to land the one that counted, and he was only able to hold this thing from going to the ground for so long.

Sure enough, you called it and the ground game was indeed too much for Hands once this one got to the mat. The first time it went there, just before the final minute of the first round, Mcclean didn’t quite have enough time to work himself into the position he wanted. But then, come the second round, he got the takedown almost right out of the bell and it wasn’t long before he established position with a failed standup attempt by Hands that allowed Mcclean into side control. Once there, the sub attempts began, first with a kimura…and then another that finished it!

That one looked painful Donkey. Hands couldn’t tap fast enough on that second attempt, and I think everybody in the arena was wondering if he’s going to be in a sling today!

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A really good fight there. Our first chance to see the newcomer Mcclean as well, and he didn’t disappoint. Oh, and bonus for him and his manager…he has a granite chin! Which may be the reason Hands wasn’t able to take him out even though he landed some decent strikes! Hands didn’t lose a ton of morale there, so he just needs to get that back up before the next fight, and focus on what it’s going to take to be successful. He’s now 1-4 overall and 1-2 in Sucker Punch, so he definitely needs a win. He’ll have his opportunity against a young Hatton next time…a kid who asked for him specifically. If that doesn’t fire you up, I don’t know what will!

*********

Heavyweight CSS Semi-Finals: #10 vs. #14

Thoth Chontamenti Defeats Aron Egomi via Unanimous Decision

Donkey, you thought this fight between Chontamenti and Egomi to see who goes on to the Finals was going to end in a finish didn’t you? Well, I did too! And even if it didn’t end up being finished by Chontamenti, which was the popular opinion, we still felt it would not go the distance. But we were wrong!

Egomi lost this fight. But damn, you have to tip your hat…hell, take the thing entirely off…for this man. He did what I think few would have ever thought would be possible…he not only took this thing the distance…but did so while fending off…yeah, get ready for this…FIFTY FIVE submission attempts! Yeah, he was on the defensive the entire time it seemed, so the fight was going to go to Chontamenti if it went to a decision. But holy hell Donkey, seriously? And Chontamenti has some serious sub skills, nobody is denying that.

But that’s what this fight turned into. Basically Egomi getting a couple shots in when he could, but for the most part just trying…successfully…to stay alive and prevent being put to sleep, having something ripped off his body, or generally just being turned into a pretzel. Hell, I’m beginning to think that Egomi IS a human pretzel Donkey!

Over to you Donk, ya got anything…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Egomi was actually the favorite in this fight. Not that you’d have ever known it the way everybody was talking. I admit, even I picked Chontamenti to win via a finish. But as you said, Egomi shocked pretty much everybody in attendance and forced the judges to make the call on this one! This loss is nothing to be embarrassed about. There is a chance, depending upon how the Finals turn out, that Egomi may have just lost to the eventual champion of this division. Unless Baddaboom has something to say about that with his fists! But for now, Egomi can walk away with his head held high, and know that as he continues to train, he’s going to put himself in a position where he can possibly avenge this loss in the future…perhaps when it matters most! Congrats to Chontamenti in the meantime, he moves on, and now waits a month for his biggest test yet!

Suzy was watching from the club suite where Rob Hell, Aron Egomi’s manager, was sitting for the fight ready for a few words, win or lose…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Mr. Hell, that was a tough fight, and a heck of a lot of heart down there from Egomi. Unfortunately for your camp, it still goes down as a notch in the loss column though, and a lost opportunity at the Sorter Series Finals. What are your thoughts as you process what just happened?

Rob Hell: Brown belt vs. blue belt! 55 sub attempts, zero success, I am proud of Aron. It was a correct fight. We congratulate the opponent and I hope we will meet again after a few months. Suzy, a coffee or would you like to try Egomi`s cake?

Suzy Sucker Punch blushes and slips away…

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight CSS Round 2: #5 vs. #8

Rumble Johnson (3-1-0) vs. Bigga Baddaboom (2-0-0)

And speaking of Bigga Baddaboom, I guess we gave away the info for this one in that last review there Donkey! Or at least, you did! Bad Donkey, bad! No carrot for you…hahaha!

Our second of the two semi-final matches for the Heavyweight Sorter Series, and dang, Donkey called the upset! Baddaboom comes out and manages to put this one away with his striking before Rumble could get it to the ground. And make no mistake about it, even though Baddaboom took this right into his operating room early, the clinch, Rumble did his best to get it to the ground anyway with two takedown attempts. Unfortunately for him, neither succeeded and he stayed at the mercy of Bigga and the abuse he was planning to dish in the clinch.

And dish it Badda did…seven for seven to the head, six for six to the body, and with that, the uppercuts in the clinch did their work, bringing Rumble to his knees and bringing this one to a finish. The crowd went absolutely crazy when Badda landed the huge right that dropped Johnson a second time, and then pounced on him for the mount and the downpour of strikes…with the ref jumping in for the save! Big time excitement in the arena for a big finish and a statement, some might say, to his opponent in the next round!

Donkey, nice call on the pick, anything else to say…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Mikey C and the guys were pretty vocal about this fight in the preview. But Baddaboom proves that there is some Bigga thunder in those fists of his, and also that he can defend against the takedown to prevent getting himself in a really bad spot. Bigga may just have all the tools to become our very first champion in this division, and only one man remains to stop him…if he can! Chontamenti will have other ideas of how he’d like to see that next fight go, and who will be strutting around with that hardware afterward! Mikey C will have to go back and work on refining Rumble’s approach after this, he’s got a big fight against Egomi and can set himself up to be #1 contender with a shot at redemption! Of course, Egomi will have a thing or two to say about that fight as well! None of these fighters are the types to back down and give it up easy.

Suzy Sucker Punch caught Mikey C just as he was about to head out of the arena following his fighter’s tough loss…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Mikey, hi there…so obviously this didn’t go the way you guys had planned and called for it to go. Tonight, Bigga came out on top, and Rumble will have to regroup with you guys back at the gym and camp. Any thoughts on how it went and what might have happened?

Mikey C: Look, Suzy, it’s as simple as this: Rumble Johnson came to fight, and Bigga Baddaboom came to cuddle in the clinch. Congratulations on your victory via TKO (hugging), Mr. Baddaboom, I’m sure your mummy would be proud. It’s called Sucker Punch Pro Series, you cowardly little weevil, not Sucker Punch Squeeze Me Like An 8th Grade Dance. So if any of the men in this division are looking to stand and trade, to really give the fans something to cheer about, Rumble Johnson will gladly oblige. Because there’s one thing you’ve forgotten in all of this, Bigga: While you’re busy snuggling opponents in the octagon, I’m in your house snuggling with your wife.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Um, guys…so apparently Mikey C and these guys in Rumble’s camp haven’t lost any confidence, that’s for sure. Their take on the way the fight went may be a little blurry at the moment perhaps, but certainly no lack of confidence. Although, I really don’t think that Mrs. Baddaboom is doing the boom-boom with Mikey C…that was probably just being a bit…bitter. I hope. *Guys, somebody get our PI on the line please…*

Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

ZaDarius Haden Defeats Random Lik via KO (Strikes)

Our Main Event was a really exciting one for us, as it featured two undefeated young fighters who both wanted to use this as a way to stake claim to a future call for the belt! But these two, or at least Haden, had a bit of a surprise in store for us.

We had a feeling that this fight would end up a stand-up affair, with these two banging it out unless Lik decided he stood a better chance on the ground against Haden’s granite chin. Well, well, well…Haden decided he’d show us what’s up! Instead, he decided that he’d be the one to take this thing to the ground, and use this opportunity against a very respected opponent to showcase his all-around skills!

And that takedown came immediately…not more than a second or two after the bell rang! The takedown was afoot…with Haden landing on the bottom and Lik in guard…and then…wow, Lik tried for the feet and Haden reversed into guard instead! And then…that’s when the punishment started. Good old fashioned ground and pound, medium-rare with a side of pain!

Lik never got a shot in..but took plenty of abuse, until he got cut, which I think distracted him just enough, and Haden dropped a huge bomb on him that sent him to dreamland! Ouch.

Donkey…wow…eh…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Yep, wow! What a finish, and what a statement potentially to anybody who still stands in Haden’s way before a shot at the belt! Oh, and Donkey, I noticed you so nicely left out that I nailed this call, Haden via KO (Strikes)…about the same way Haden nailed Lik with that last shot. Ooh, that was probably mean, and probably a little too soon. Lik will come back strong, you don’t have his record without knowing how to rebound. This is his first loss though, so we’ll see how he truly does respond. One thing we did learn today was that with a loss, he only lost about 15% of his morale! Not bad! That has to be encouraging for his manager.

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

The big boys brought the thunder, the lighting (or Lighting, haha), the pain and a pulse pounding night of excitement for us! This is one I definitely would not have wanted to miss, and I hope everybody who was there with us enjoyed it as much as Donkey and I did! We found a lot out last night, and this division is about to have itself fully sorted.

Till next time folks…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!
