RISE FIGHT LEAGUE - 2019 HALL OF FAME DISCUSSION

It’s been a while since RISE has seen anyone enter the Hall of Fame and what with the cool horror theme logo, I figured what better time for some fresh faces to go in there then this coming Halloween?

The following is only a list of potential candidates for inclusion and not necessarily the definite list of who will make it in 2019. I’m hoping to get some discussion going here in the forum thread and will take into consideration any feedback generated over the next few weeks. This isn't a vote as such but a nay or yay at minimum would definitely be appreciated, even from the fighters own management. Overall though, the final decision will be down to my own discretion.

135lbs

Got his start at 25 years of age and managed to capture the SyFi bantamweight title before arriving at RISE where he immediately captured the title and successfully defended the belt a further 4 times. An 11-4 record in RISE to date. Joe recently challenged once again for the title although was not successful. Joint 6th for most wins in the org.

The current RISE Bantamweight champion. Petrov has successfully made 5 title defences so far and has been the dominant force in the weight division since arriving early this year. Has not lost in 14 fights, since March 2018.

145lbs

The very first featherweight champion of RISE who got his start at RISE 1. A very short career here but successfully defended the title twice before disappearing along with his former manager. Currently unsigned under his third manager and by all accounts has kept in decent shape. Could there be a potential comeback for this former champion?

A two time and current RISE Featherweight champion. Gusmao has made six successful title defences in total over two title reigns. All of his 17 wins have been by KO. Currently tied 3rd for most KO’s in the org. Undefeated in 5 fights currently

155lbs

4 time and current RISE Lightweight champion. Stoddler has made two successful title defences over four separate title reigns and three separate managers. A seasoned RISE veteran. Stoddler is second for most fights in the org at 22. Most wins in the org at 17. Joint first for KO’s in the org at 16.

170lbs

3 time RISE Welterweight champion. Now pursuing his second weight class belt at 155lbs. Six successful title defences. Third for most wins in the org at 14. Joint third for most KO’s in the org with 10. Joint third for decision wins with 4.

Although not the best record overall nor the best 2019 so far, Markell has been a mainstay in the RISE Welterweight division from almost the very beginning. Getting his start all the way back at RISE 4, Markell was a constant threat to the title having challenged for the belt on four separate occasions and managing to capture it and defend it one time. Holding the distinction currently of being the most seasoned RISE veteran at 23 fights, Markell is also the number one submission expert with 11 finishes and is also tied fourth for wins at 13.

185lbs

Was the very first RISE Middleweight champion who also briefly held the RISE Light-Heavyweight championship. He successfully defended for a total of two times. Not the longest of careers and by now long retired but consideration for this fighter must surely be given?

Current RISE Middleweight champion. Undefeated in 11 fights with all by way of KO. Most in the first round. Not the longest of careers as yet but a RISE veteran none the less. A two time champion though never lost the belt. Joint second in the org for Ko’s at 11. Is it the right time for Falcone or has he still more to do?

205lbs

A RISE veteran who got his start in MMA right here. A three time RISE Light-Heavyweight champion with a total of three defences. Known for leaving it all in the cage, Orndorf has only ever gone to a decision once in 19 fights. Joint 5th for wins with 11. Joint second for KO’s with 11. Currently fighting elsewhere under new management.

265lbs

The very first RISE heavyweight champion. Despite never being able to keep hold of it for long, Alison was always a constant threat at the top of the heavyweight pile and challenged for the title a further four times afterwards and once again captured it for a second time on his last attempt. Though the end of his career somewhat tarnished his overall legacy, what he achieved at RISE should be worthy of HOF consideration at least. Joint fourth for most fights in the org at 18. Now retired..

Probably the first dominant champion in RISE Heavyweight history and definitely the first to successfully defend his title (for a total of three times). Farina never actually lost the belt and was instead stripped during a change of management that lead to some time away from the cage. Upon his return, Farina managed to rack up a 9-2 record but for some reason was never offered a second chance at the title. Choosing to seek out competition elsewhere at end of his contract, Farina was crowned champion at AEW but after the orgs demise has returned once again and has successfully earned another shot at the title. Joint forth for most fights in the org (18), Second most wins (16), Joint first for KO’s with 16.

The current RISE Heavyweight champion. Got his start on the island as an 18 year old prospect where he managed to capture a title there. Has a 9-1 record in RISE currently and has successfully defended his title 5 times already. Possibly too early for UberThor despite his superstar status?

265lbs+

Though not the first champion of the Super-Heavyweight division, Manowaru was without question the first dominant one. His tenure at RISE was a relatively brief one with only six fights total but in that short time he managed to not only go undefeated and capture the Super-Heavyweight title but defend it a further three times. Manowaru never lost the title. Currently fighting at GAMMA.

So there you have it folks. The 2019 list of potential RISE Hall of Fame candidates. What do you think? Agree? Disagree? Is there someone that has been overlooked perhaps or doesn't deserve to be on the list? Let me know!

I will go with Anthony Falcon for his best 11 wins streak, never lost and 11 wins streak is not a joke. But we have Sergei Petrov although has 2 loses in his career but then flips the book and goes 14 wins streak. That makes lots of us forget the 2 loses. So this two guys deserve it, 100%. No hard feelings for the rest nominees as they deserve that too.

Congrats to the nominees. My boys are stuck in the mid to lower pack so we have to get stronger. One went to a seven winning streak but lost six straight. I should study the game more. They were crushed by Manowaru, Hammerfall and Glass Joe. These monsters deserve my Hall of Fame vote if I have the right to.

I think Camara has won this one and Alex is a faggot but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
Judge Percy O'Donnell scores the fight 48:47
Judge Don Winkell scores the fight 49:46
Judge Jack Bonds scores the fight 49:46

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... "Honest as Fuck" Ibrahim Camara!

Ibrahim Camara is the new light heavyweight champion!
Ibrahim Camara was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

RISE 103 & 104

(12th October 2019)

RISE 103 is co-headlined by not one, but two title fights taking place this weekend!

At Welterweight, champion Mosi Kondo will be taking on sensational striker Tyrell Williams and win, lose or draw, it will be Kondo’s final appearance in the RISE cage for the foreseeable future. Having been informed a little while ago that Kondo will be going into semi-retirement and not signing a new contract, the RISE management were faced with quite the dilemma. Should the champ be offered early release and two new warriors challenge for the vacant belt or should he honour his contract with his last fight? In the end, it was Kondo himself who made the decision and so he faces the next number one contender Tyrell Williams.

Williams is still developing his ground game but despite an obvious weakness in that area has still managed to go 5-1 since arriving at RISE and is currently on a three fight winning streak. Guided by former number one manager Lance Templeton and with all of his eight professional wins coming by KO, Williams is definitely a worthy contender to the throne.

Kondo, on the other hand, has yet to be stopped by KO in 20 professional outings and is by far the more experienced of the two fighters. He is definitely more well rounded than Williams but it’s doubtful that the ground would play any part in this showdown at all. Kondo too has a perfect record of KO finishes with 16 out of 16. This will be Kondo’s second title defence since becoming champion.

A tough fight to call but many will be watching the result closely. If Kondo were to lose and Williams become champion then it will be business as usual for the division but if Kondo was to walk away as champion then an 8 man tournament between the next best ranked would be announced with the winner becoming the new champion. Exciting times ahead folks!

At Superheavyweight, Fu Leng attempts to make his first successful title defence when he takes on Heavy HeavyWeight who has moved up from the 265lbs division for this opportunity.

Leng, who only just become champion for the second time, has only ever held the belt briefly and during his first reign was never able to defend it losing to Hiro Manowaru on first attempt. He’ll be hoping this time around is more successful I’m sure and in truth, he is a heavy favourite in this match up.

HeavyWeight is an experienced opponent and also a multiple champion in different organisations including RISE but with a few more stoppage losses starting to appear on his record this year, you have to wonder if brute force alone is enough to get the job done, at least against the truly top fighters the weight class. If he can pull it off it would surely rank as one of the greatest wins of his career so far?

Elsewhere on the card, Jhin “The Sniper” Markell makes a return to RISE after a lengthy sabbatical away from the cage. Markell has just been announced as a potential Hall of Fame entry for this year so will no doubt be hoping to impress the panel when he takes on veteran journeyman William Scout. Markell, who tops the org for most submission wins, has a long way to go if he has eyes on another stint as welterweight champion but for now, the fans will be happy just to see him back.

At RISE 104 we have one of the most anticipated title fights in recent history with two potential Hall of Fame candidates going head to head for the first time. Newly crowned Lightweight champion Tud “The Diddler” Stoddler defends against former welterweight champion Valerio Bartoli.

Tud Stoddler is a four time RISE Lightweight champion under three different management teams. Currently riding a four fight win streak all by TKO’s, Stoddler looks to make his first defence of his current reign. His opponent Valerio Bartoli has been waiting patiently for his chance since returning to the RISE fold and making a bold move by moving down a division instead of his familiar 170lbs weight.

Things look to be very even between these two except for the ground where Stoddler is the more advanced. Stoddler has been stopped before on a few occasions whereas Bartoli has only ever lost once and that was decided by the judges. Stoddler does have heavy hands but he might have to aim to put this fight away early as the longer it goes, the more time Bartoli will have to find the chin of the champion. With so much riding on the result of this fight it is sure to be an absolute showstopper

Road to Glory

Welterweight 16 Man Tournament Announcement

With Mosi Kondo's retirement from RISE as champion it means that the title is now vacant and a new king must be crowned. It has been decided that the division will hold a VERY ambitious 16 man division wide tournament to decide the new king of the hill at Welterweight. The 16 best ranking 170lb fighters have now been automatically entered into the fray and we will now work towards creating a new champion worthy of the RISE crown. Some of the fights have already been confirmed and hopefully everything will go smoothly with the rest of the negotiations.
