Holiday Preview

Hello sports fans and Happy New Year! A big day kicks off 2015 as we have some great bowl match ups, including America's first College Football Playoffs, and the United States Fighting Championship's first featherweight & middleweight title fights! The college bowl action continues and the weekend adds the NFL playoffs, UFC 182: Jones vs Cormier, and a third fight card from the USFC in as many days! Sixty fighters will be looking to start the year with victory as the rankings in the USFC begin to take shape, and four fighters will be looking to start the year as champion! Let's preview the top fights leading up to Jones vs. Cormier during this epic week of contact sport.

Undefeated Jarmo "The Bear" Keskitalo faces off against brawler Connor "Papi" Pappas in the New Year main event! The Bear has brutal kicks that have finished his first three opponents in 1:12, 0:21, and 0:39 of the first round and has been completely dominant to begin his mixed-martial arts career. Papi is coming off of a tough decision loss and hopes to return to his winning ways that included a three fight win streak of his own. Pappas has good takedowns and can put his opponents away with powerful ground and pound. Will Keskitalo "kick" off the New Year with another fast KO, or will Pappas trap The Bear and shake up the rankings? The card is sure to end with fireworks with this holiday thriller!

"The Stickup Kid" Mugsy Keller fights Brazilian Neymar Junior in the USFC's first featherweight championship bout! Mugsy is well known in the New York area as a suspected crime boss as well as one of the city's largest contributers to charity. He became an instant fan favorite when he turned his attention to professional fighting and took on Immortals title contender Superior Nucleus in his debut. After suffering a loss by submission, Keller turned his game around and has come out in his last three fights with spectacular Muay Thai, finshing his opponents with kicks, punches, and flurries! This is a motivated fighter with bad intentions! Expect a huge roar from the hometown crowd as his customary entrance song, Survival of the Fittest by Mobb Deep, accompanies him into the cage! Neymar Junior poses a serious threat to Keller's plans to win a championship in his hometown. Junior has a well rounded game that includes lethal high kicks and KO power! Winning three of his last four, Junior looked sensational in his USFC debut with a first round knockout of Randy Dragon. Junior jumped at the chance to take on The Stickup Kid and appears very confident that he and Aldo will keep the bantamweight belts in Brazil!

The USFC middleweight title is on the line as the self confident counter fighter "Carnage" Cletus Kasady mixes it up with Muay Thai specialist Jerome "Little Jerry" Seinfeld in a scheduled five round war! It is a true Rocky story for Kasady who gets a title shot coming off of the only victory of his career. After suffering KO losses in his first two fights, Kasady has greatly improved in his last two contests, going the distance in both. Seinfeld brings only one victory into this championship fight as well, but showed tremendous potential in his last outing in which he lost a split decision to a more experienced fighter with over 20 fights. Now under the new management of Mike Jursllla, Seinfeld looks better than ever and poised to prove that his early record is not telling of his skill level. He'll have to prove it in the cage as Kasady looks to rise to the occasion and become the first champ instead! Look for #1 ranked Kenneth Keats to be in attendance as he anxiously awaits the chance to prove he is the one deserving of the title. No matter the outcome, its the fight fans who win as the cream of 185 rises to the top!

Welteweight Sergio "The Spartan" Lopez pits his excellent Muay Thai game against Sean "Black Majik" Spencer's excellent boxing in the second main event of the New Year! The Spartan is undefeated and is coming off of a Fight of the Night performance in his last outing. Look for Lopez to work his clinch game as he throws combinations from the outside, followed by bombs from in close. Spencer showed excellent clinch defense in his debut before scoring a TKO, but struggled with the clinch in his last fight, losing by decision. Will Lopez control from the plumb or will Spencer fend him off with big shots? One fighter will impose his will in what is expected to be an exciting battle!

Tompson looked awesome in his debut with dirty boxing from the clinch before closing out his opponent with a a beautiful left hook followed up with savage ground and pound. His dominant performance earned him a spot in the co-main event against the more experienced Stoic. Stoic has the edge in wrestling, which he'll need in order to avoid his fourth straight loss. Don't blink in this one as neither fighter has ever gone the distance. For those who like explosive finishes, this fight is sure to please!

The light heavyweights take center stage as unbeatens Jack "Scotch" Daniels and Alex "Bean Burrito" Trujillo look to move into title contention. Daniels has wicked knees from the clinch and powerful punches on the ground, finishing his two opponents early in the first round. Trujillo has very good takedowns and strong jit, with two wins by submission. The judges won't be needed as if Daniels keeps it standing, Trujillo will be sleeping and if Trujillo takes it to the ground, Daniels will be tapping. The fans expect a finish in a classic match up of styles!

Hometown favorite Tim "Tornado" Hawk makes his long awaited USFC debut against the very confident brawler Bruce "Pain Train" Patterson! Hawk is a boxer, but looked very good for a blue belt in his first two fights. Hawk moved well on the ground in his opener before standing and finishing his opponent with a spectacular superman punch! The boxer then shot for the takedown in his next fight and defended submissions before landing a brutal shot to set up the finishing flurry! Patterson is an experienced fighter accustomed to grinding out decisions against styles similar to Hawk's. Hawk's explosive style will be matched against Patterson's ability to control while threatening with submissions. The oddsmakers have it at even predicting either a KO from Hawk or a decision/sub victory for Patterson. One moves into the title picture while the other begins the year with a loss in Saturday's co-main event!

The fans have great match ups on day one of 2015, and it only gets better from there! Champions will be made and contenders will rise as 30 fights come your way to start the New Year! Happy Holidays from the United States Fighting Championship, and get ready for next week when Fred "The Fredinator" Frederiksen defends the heavyweight championship against undefeated Corey "Punishment Walk" Parker at USFC 9!

Javier Martinez - USFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

"Divock Origi, you have 35 days to prepare yourself for the first real fight of your career - I've looked at your previous opponents and you've conned your way into a title shot, you will be taught a lesson"

Divock "Belgian Beast" Origi

Future USFC Light heavyweight champion

I don't need a month to prepare for you. When I watched your fight replays , I was amazed how much of a one trick pony you are.

Real men fight standing, but you're not man enough to do that. You know I would destroy you, just like I did with all of my opponents. You are going to look for a takedown all the time and try to gnp me. Well, that's not going to happen. If I were you, I would try to train up some other skills if you want to have any chance against me. I want the give the fans a great fight, but I know that your desperate search for a takedown will make the people fall asleep. They are going to boo you from the minute that you enter the arena! I'm the people's champ! You are a young fighter, just like me, but I have a lot more experience. Fighting me is nothing like you have ever done before. I'm so dominant I retired my first two opponents. I respect you for not trying to run away from me. I just hope you come to fight on fight night and not to keep trying to hug my leg. I wish you good luck!

Sven Jergensen: "I tire of this talk. The crystal lake killer? Pfft....he is a mediocre fighter. I would have volunteered myself to welcome him to USFC, but felt he was beneath my level now they rank him highly. Why? Because I lost to an elite opponent? I would like to humble him.

Sean Spencer too....I already humiliated him once and now they talk of him like he will be fighting for title?! Come let me show once more who is better.

Or I could crush the man he just beat to show just how much better I am. What is the mexican's name? Yes, Sergio Lopez. He would fall too and I wouldn't need to bleed like Spencer to do it!"

Javier Martinez, USFC Lightheavyweight Champion.

Being honest with you "Belgian Beast", I am not quite sure how you have even managed to pull a title shot in this organisation without having a fight here. But we all know your clinch game is your strength...how will you be able to dominate a superior wrestler in the clinch in this fight? If you clinch you give me the chance to get close and take you down, if you stand off, I shoot and take you down. You have a lot to think of in the coming weeks.

You know you have never fought anyone on my level as yet in your career - It will show come the night.

Welcome to the ninth installation of the United States Fighting Championship!

The event comes to you from The Underground in New York City where up to 1000 excited fight fans will be anticipating a heavyweight championship match up where Fred “The Fredinator” Frederiksen defends his belt against the unbeaten Corey “Punishment Walk” Parker.

The night begins with two of the most experienced fighters to come into the USFC roster facing each other in the Featherweight division. Nick Noisy (5-3-0) makes his debut after an extensive career at regional level that included a five-win streak will try to utilise his wrestling skills to subdue fellow debutant Bobby “Buster’ Bilkington (5-7-0). Bilkington, a decision specialist, has a distinct height advantage which he must surely lean on if he is going to walk away with the victory.

The next fight sees two fighters looking to pick up their first ever MMA victory as Gabriel Bent (0-1-0) faces Noah Zelazny (0-1-0). This is a classic striker verses wrestler match with Zelazny looking to take this to the ground and Bent looking for the magic shot before that can happen.

Hunter Byers (5-1-0), a highly touted regional prospect who fell off the grid for some time makes his USFC debut against the charismatic Corey “Superjoint” Terror (1-2-0) who comes to the USFC after having his first three fights abroad. Both men are well rounded so this is a fight that could a great back and forth affair.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Lethal Larry (1-1-0). Talent spotters saw his potential as he made his bow as a very young man and he is supposedly much improved from those early outings. Darryl “The Demon” Maxwell (3-2-0) who has previously had a title shot at the now defunct Sliders FC will be the first test for Larry and will want to make the young man pay for his ring rustiness.

Two welterweights last seen at USFC 3, Charles Bolton (2-0-0) and Nixy “Nitro Nix” Souch (2-3-0) face each other in the last undercard spot. Bolton has successfully stopped both his opponents and will put himself in a solid position at a number 1 contenders match if he can stop Souch; who is looking to rebuild his USFC career after a heavily contested split decision loss to Bruce “Pain Train” Patterson (3-3-0).

L Manning Vines (2-0-0) will be hoping to continue his streak of submission victories as he faces the experienced Greg “Lose Yourself” Gsp (5-6-0). Gsp was last seen losing the inaugural heavyweight championship fight at USFC 3. If he is to get back into the title picture quickly, Gsp is surely going to need to land leather on Vines before the fight gets to the floor. The good news for Gsp is that each of his five victories has come by the way of knockout or referee stoppage but he may only have seconds to land that decisive blow.

It is highly unlikely that the next fight between “Slick” Willie Jone (3-0-0) and Jeff Marks (1-1-0) will see the second round. These two heavyweight sluggers have an average fight time of less than two minutes and all have ended in a knockout. Expect this one to short and not very sweet.

Homer Thompson (2-1-1) has turned his career around after back to back under one minute knockouts that has seen him rise above doubters. Looking to rain on his parade is the unbeaten Maxx Elorde (2-0-0) who has built his own reputation as a hard hitter after putting both his opponents in the USFC away in under a round. Victory will surely go to the man who lands the first telling blow so expect a feeling out process before this one comes to life.

There has been a lot of online gossip surrounding the co-main event of the evening as the New Yorker Sin Cara (2-2-0) has been putting in special training for his long anticipated fight with submission supremo Marcin “Bimber” Elsner (4-0-0). Rumour has it that Cara has pushed himself to the limits but many are now questioning whether he will be near 100% when he enters the cage. No doubt “Bimber” will ignore any of this gossip and concentrate on cornering his opponents so he can move the fight onto the ground where he is most lethal but surely a tired opponent will help that plan out immensely.
And to our main event of the evening!

The heavyweight division is often the most exciting in mixed martial arts as one strike can change the outcome of a fight in a flash. The challenger Corey “Punishment Walk” Parker (3-0-0) has never suffered the devilish side of being a heavyweight so far in his career. Using his great wrestling base, parker has suffocated opponents in the clinch before finally reeling back and finishing them with a dramatic flurry. Surely this is the tactic Parker will employ once again as he faces the reigning champion Fred “The Fredinator” Frederiksen (5-6-0).

Frederiksen won the championship at USFC 3 in a surprisingly one-sided victory, over the aforementioned Gsp, where the champion used his ground skills to smother the striker into idleness. This may well be the perfect counter measure against Parker but that does require the takedown against a potentially stronger wrestler. Still if “The Fredinator” succeeds in grounding the challenger then he could find a lot of joy in sustained ground and pound.

In this fans eyes, the champion does go into this title defence as the underdog and will need a little luck on his side if he is going to come out unscathed. However defending the belt has brought out stellar performances in athletes throughout time and Parker should effect the fight of his life if he wants to walk away with the big gold belt.

As Jason Voorheez was leaving his gym he was approached by the media

"Jason your comments on your upcoming fight?

I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm scared. I'm scared of Jules Winnfield. He might be my most dangerous opponent yet. I will show up ready to fight. It will be tough and if I lose, I can say I had an opportunity to compete for a title. But hey, It will be a good day if I could be... THE USFC>WELTERWEIGHT> CHAMPION OF THE WOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRLLLLLLD!!!!!..... But I don't know if that will happen. I'm that scared. On the 17th at USFC 10, I will give Winnfield a fight he won't forget. And that's the bottom line. Because the Crystal Lake Killer Said so.
