Welcome everyone, this Wednesday its finally time for SFC 7: Koon vs Simba. With 10 competitive bouts planned the evening will definitely hold fireworks and there should be something in there for everyone. The event will feature two title fights, although rumour has it that Serrano will most likely miss weight for his title challenge against Fernandez. Let’s take a closer look at some of the fights at the top of the card.

Dan Koon vs Flo Simba

The SFC light heavyweight champ, Dan Koon (4-0), is a submission machine having won his first four pro bouts by submission, taking the belt in his last fight against Butter Bean. He has fairly good wrestling which he uses to take fights down, where he can put his brown belt in BJJ to good use. Flo Simba is the more experienced fighter riding the first 3 fight win streak of his career. His ground game is lacking offensively as he mainly uses his wrestling to stuff takedowns and his BJJ to defend himself on the ground but his boxing is strong which will make him the much better stand up fighter. Classic striker vs Grappler matchup, Simba has more experience and Koon has yet to face someone who can hang in there and threaten him on the feet.

Pick: Simba via KO

Hugh Jackman vs Lalli Koylio

In the co main event of the evening Hugh Jackman looks to stay undefeated under the SFC banner against Koylio. Jackman (6-1) is a remarkable boxer who has transitioned well into MMA, with 4 (t)kos and ever improving takedown defence, he is a quick up and comer in SFC light weight division. Koylio (2-1,1) is a very solid wrestler with great ground and pound, devastating opponent to have in top of you. After a slow start to his career a submission loss in his debut followed by a NC, he has put two wins together and is looking to make it 3 which would also keep him undefeated under the SFC banner. The big difference in this fight is the boxing, and I think Jackman has the defence wrestling required to deal with a one dimensional fighter like Koylio.

Jackman vs decision

Run Dunca vs Otto the Schlong

This fight sees the return of Run Dunca after his failed title opportunity against Hugh Jackman face off with a young fighter making his promotional debut in Otto the Schlong. Dunca (2-2) got caught in the second round of his title fight and has already stated he wants to work towards that rematch. He will most likely implement his boxing and look to knock his opponent out in order to make a statement. Schlong (0-1) is only `18 years old but brings respectable boxing of his own into the cage. He lost his debut by submission and is glad to get a chance to show his stand up skills against Dunca. Dunca has the better wrestling, but is used to defend takedowns and not shoot from them. This will most likely by settled on the feet and I think Dunca has the edge in boxing and experience.

Pick Dunca via KO

The rest of the fight card includes:

Jason Fernandez v Brian Serrano 170 lbs title

Noel Severino v Nail Grigorovich

Dingo Warrior v Dick Throttle

Luis Mejias v Rocky Sullivan

Manny Paqiuo v Mauricio Bordin

Frankie Gambini v Reiko Saito

Nazir Rasuradorov v Doc Evil

Hi everybody, and welcome to MMA Today with James Dean. We were lucky enough to catch newcomer Mack Jackson coming out of Midnight MMA in New York. Mack, do you have a few words for your new peers and opponents?

Mack: Just this: watch out. I'm training hard, working on my ground game. My kickboxing is top notch, and I'm looking to score some more knockouts on my way to the hevyweight title. Shout out to all my people here in New York. You all know.

JD: And there you have it. A fresh face in the MMA world, looking to shake things up and make a name for himself. For all of us fans of knockout brawls, we can only hope he succeeds. And that's it from New York, James Dean, signing off.

Whaat a Night Ladies and Gents,

Those who stood home, SOOORYY you missed it. So Shame on You!

It was a Knockout fest followed submissions, some decisions and ending it with an execution!

First up, Jake Lewis vs Miguel Lebron.

Technically a complete one sided fight where Lewis started attacking his opponent till he was Knocked out. 2:20 of the first round.

Next was Dwayne Johnson and Kyle Jardine,

This was a very close fight where anyone could of walked away as the victor. But that night Kyle Jardine scored a unanimous decision and walks away as the better man of the night.

Next up was Dingo Warrior against Dick Throttle,

Warrior displayed a magnificent counter striking and strategy in this one and walked away with a unanimous decision.

Continued by Jayden Mckethan vs Ron Franco,

Starting the fight Mckethan gets cut by a knee to the face, 1 min after his cut gets worst by another knee to the face. Then later on in the fight Mckethan starts to pick it up, but is not responding well to Franco's aggressive offense. After 3 rough rounds Ron Franco walks away with the victory, a unanimous decision.

Next up Ipod Apple takes on Todd Konifka

This was a very entertaining fight, there where no telling who will win this on, on till Konifka apply the rear naked choke, and Apple has to tap out. A very entertaining fight.

Then up next was Kurt Perrier toe to toe with Coco Kolarich

Perrier came to this fight and made a statement, as soon as the bell rang Kolarich takes a solid jab and right hand down he went, Perrier let's him get up and followed but another big right hand and back to the floor. Kolarich gets back up and catches a right hook where he's falls again and the ref stops it. Perrier walks away with a KO in :17 in the first round. What a display of power. Watch out people of the 265lb. This guy means business.

Next up Roberto Colon vs Antero Mokka

Another impressive fight, Mokka unleashed his great ground and pound techniques and scored the TKO in 1:54 of the first round.

Then came the Co-Main Event Myron Obusan vs Hannibal King

This was a action packed fight, another you don't know who will win kind of match, multiple submissions attempts, some takedowns, but Obusan kept his cool in the fight, waited for the fight to take directions to his favor, and lays a tremendous blow where he runs up to King and pounds him on the floor to score the TKO.

And Finally the Main Event of the Night! Jesse Jenkins vs Chuck Norris

The only word to describe this fight is execution. Norris didn't had a chance during the fight against Jenkins. Jenkins executed the ground and pound and found his victory by KO in 2:18 in the first round.

And that's the night!

And remember SFC 12: St Patty's Brawl New York 2013-03-16. Don't miss it!

Recently Muay Thai specialist and recent addition to SFC Mack Jackson was featured on a podcast from MMA Underground. Here is what they had to talk about.

MU: So why the switch to MMA? Your skills are clearly suited to a K1-type organization. What made you go with Syracuse?

Jackson: I prefer to box, I mean just, you know, trade strikes or whatever. But I have a wrestling background. You probably won't see me going for very many submissions.

MU: What do you think about Sly Stallone's choice for your first opponent, SFC standout Kurt Perrier?

Jackson: Well, I asked them for a guy that would stand up and fight me, so I can't complain. It will be a big test. Guys like Perrier, they have every advantage. It'll be tough.

MU: What do you mean, every advantage?

Jackson: Perrier has big money backers. Me and Jimmy, we're just guys from the corner, ya know? We don't get to train in private gyms and fly first class. We're lucky to train where we do. But I beat a couple guys like Kurt, and I'll be flying first class. So bring him on.

MU: Perrier's only loss was to a much more experienced veteran of the cage, current SFC Heavyweight Champion Chris Leben. How do you plan on approaching this fight?

Jackson: I'm gonna do what I do. I'm going to come at him with everything, all day, until one of us falls down. Ain't no secret. I'm going to throw combos and keep him moving backwards. He's never faced anybody with hands like mine. I didn't get to show them in my last fight. I'm looking for the k-o. And a raise. You hear that Sly?

MU: Is there anything else you'd like to say?

Jackson: Just this: win or lose, I'm going to be around the SFC for a long time. A lot of people are going to get hurt because of that. Keep the paramedics close, and the coroner on call. Shout out to New York. Legalize MMA!

Good evening, SFC fans! Tonight on MMA Weekend we have a very special guest interview. Taking time off from his busy training schedule is Sly Stallone protege Felipe LeBron, who is sitting down at Wild Bob's with our own reporter Ras Butten. Over to you, Ras.

Ras Butten: Thanks Jim. Ras Butten here at Wild Bob's Bar, sitting down for some beer and some wings with MMA standout Felipe LeBron. How's it going, man?

FL: Things are going pretty well, Ras. I'm wracking up quite a win streak here at SFC. Things are looking up.

RB: Who would you like to face next in your division?

FL: No not really man. I don't really headhunt, I just fight whoever's in front of me. If you're in my skill range, sure, we can dance. Ha ha.

RB: That chuckle is a little unsettling, Mr. LeBron. Are there any fighters you model your style after?

FL: Not really, bro, I just fight. I am a huge fan of Diego Sanchez, though.

RB: All strong fighters have strong trainers and sparring partners. Which gym do you call home?

FL: I switch gyms a lot. My current home is TEAMBEAST. It's a new gym, so you really get in what you put out.

RB: You obviously train very hard to get where you are. Do you see a possible title shot in your future?

FL: Yeah, man, I definitely see a title shot in my future. I'm on a five fight win streak, mostly by TKO. But I'm in no hurry, bro. Good things come to those who wait.

RB: There is a single blemish on your record. No one likes to talk about these things, but what have you done to ensure this wont happen again?

FL: I've worked a lot on my wrestling. I've really put a lot of work into my takedown defense, defensive grappling, and working on BJJ for if I end up on my back again. I'm always growing, always evolving.

RB: Is there anything you'd like to say to the fans out there in the real world?

FL: I want the 185 to remember my name. I want to make an impression if I haven't already. I want people to remember ME!

RB: Thanks for coming out to talk to us today, Mr. LeBron. And thanks to all you fans for tuning in. Until next time, this is Ras Butten, and this is MMA Weekend.

According to the official press release, the Steel Penn organization in Los Angeles has closed the door of it's cage for the last time. This was a unique org, with no weight classes and a wide variety of fighting types represented. While the closure of this institution is a loss to the MMA world as a whole, it has resulted in two new fighters being signed to SFC. Here with us today are SFC newcomers Brandon Tyson and Marcelus Wallace.

Brandon Tyson: I look forward to competing in the superheavyweight division here at SFC. I've had two fights, and three of the night awards. I'm looking to keep adding to that collection. Plus it's nice to be fighting in New York. It'll be a lot easier to train without flying back and forth across the country.

Marcellus Wallace: I lost my last fight, but I don't have any reservations about my ability. I fought MUCH bigger opponents under my last contract, and I've held my own. Our teammate Mack Jackson already had a contract here at SFC, so the transition seemed logical. I'm looking to show the rest of the SFC what catch wrestling is all about.

(From a recent online podcast)

Marcellus Wallace: They have me fighting some guy, Fontaine, I've never heard of him. I tried to find a video of his fight online, and the only one I could find he was getting beat up. So I don't really know what I'm up against. But I know what he's up against. Bad news for Fontaine.

Today we have an excerpt from MMA Magazine.

Game Over signs to Syracuse Fighting Club

MM: So you train in Russia and fight in Amsterdam. What prompted the move to SFC?

Louis Chalas: I signed a short contract with SFC because one of my career goals was to fight in my home state. SFC allows me to not only fight in my home state but in my home town. 315 stand up!

MM: You lost the only fight you've had that's gone to decision. Do you have the cardio to compete with the top level guys in SFC, like Crazy Datsik?

LC: Yeah, my last decision fight was to a much better grappler at that time, but I've improved leaps and bounds since then. We'll just have to wait and see who I'm up against first.

MM: Coming in to the SFC, is there anyone in your weight class to whom you are paying particular attention?

LC: I'm aware of all of the fighters in my bracket, but I'm not losing any sleep over any of them. In this sport, anything can happen, man.

MM: Have you been training in any particular area to prepare yourself for the competition you'll face in SFC?

LC: Sure, man, I work hard on all aspects of my training. I try to be as prepared as possible.

MM: Do you have any last words to all the fight fans out there?

LC: Yeah. Shout out to all you fans out there. And shout out to Cusetown, NY and SFC! Now let's get a fight set up!

Brandon Tyson was recently interviewed in a video released by his trainer on the official SFC website.

Tyson: I get my first fight in SFC on 4/20. Three out of the four fighters in our stable are in the SFC now, and you're going to be hearing a lot from us. Mack Jackson got caught, it can happen to anyone, but he's a tough guy and he's already training again, getting ready for the next one. Marcellus has his debut the same night as me; we have a bet about which one is getting the Sub of the Night award. I'm happy to be fighting at home finally, and I hope the fans out there enjoy the show. We're going to do our best to make it exciting for you.
