JAG Battle League - Trials By Fire Event Previews

Demo

Recommended Posts

The last Jag Event went swimmingly in the Underground Arena in London city with a full house in attendance screaming the house down when Jake Jones and Shaidar Haram nearly brought the roof down with the fight of the night (admittedly the fight didn’t last too long with Jones knocking Haram out with a sweet right hand that floored Haram) . The main event was between Cohle and Miles with Cohle and Miles having a right ding dong match which nearly went the distance before Miles had to tap out after 2.58 mins of round 3

Top of the bill for the next exhibition of legal violence is Jordan & Rostom

James “Tiny” Jordan Erle Rostom

Debut Fight Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32w4.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/37/37b12.jpg

Erle hails from Fife in Scotland and until he turned pro fighter he used to caddy for golders on the old course of St Andrews, that’s where his built his strength in the past. He has only one fight to his name (other than the numerous misdemeanours around 1am/2am after a meal of deep fried pizza washed down with a battered Mars bar). Erle’s only fight ended in a disastrous 19 second KO in round one when he was hammered with a 3 punch combo. His girlfriend who was ringside was heard to say “that’s longer than he normally lasts” before heading off with a George Clooney lookalike. Erle is single now funnily enough! Given the lack of experience for this fight it’s hard to call Tiny is stepping into the cage for the first time and let's hope for Erle’s sake that small man’s syndrome doesn’t jump up and whoop him in the ass ! Tiny hails from Dresden in Germany and we can expect the usual Germanic efficiency in the ring. Rostom is a stronger boxer and Muay Thai but Tiny has exceptional wrestling skills so don’t expect him to stay on his feet too long. Rostom to win this one will need to keep Tiny on his feet and avoid taking in to the canvas where Tiny has the advantage. If Rostom controls this one I would favour him but if Tiny gets to the canvas it’s good night for Rostom.

VERDICT: Rostom

Next to top of the billing is the pairing of Collins & Corcu

Michael “The Big Fellow” Collins David “Canman” Corcu

Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/34/34w9.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/9/9w15.jpg

I personally think this should have been the top billing but then again Collins is my fighter so I would have to say that! Both of these fighters are coming off a one fight losing streak so both have a lot to prove tonight. Corcu is a brawler with a sold chin but lost his first fight by way of submission (armbar) when tapping out after 1.33mins of round 1 against Dewitt Gay. Collins who is from Cork and is nicknamed “The Big Fellow” after his namesake Michael Collins who was an Irish freedom fighter who became the leader of the national army before being executed, seemingly this Michael is related to the original Michael Collins but to be honest nobody believes him, however I wouldn’t say that to his face..... unless you want a new one! Tale of the tape is interesting on this one and Collins has the edge on the boxing and wrestling front but falls behind Corcu on the Muay Thai and BJJ stakes. Corcu’s first fight ended quickly and Collins first fight ended after 4.58mins of round 1 so neither fighter has lasted too long on their debuts. I will have to favour Collins on this one but only because he is my fighter and wouldn’t be surprised to see Corcu come out kicking to get my lad to the floor where he will have the advantage.

VERDICT: Collins :)

Next up Round 3…...

Toufik Alawi “Le Huit” Generic Guy

Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Debut Fight

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w6.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w12.jpg

Being honest I really love the name of the second contender here - Generic Guy, Hats off to Money Mayweather for this name I absolutely love it and for that reason alone I hope he wins! Alawi hails from Algeria and his nickname comes from the number of years he served for assault in his younger years (Editors note - that’s eight / le Huit for those not in the know). Alawi has one win under his belt when he beat the more experienced Vargas on his first outing (Vargas has 3 fights to his name). Alawi won by Submission (Kimura) after 2.42mins of Round 2 of his fight when his opponent had to tap out. There wasn’t many punches or kicks thrown in his outing and it was more of a dance competition with both fighters trying to clinch mainly rather than duking it out Queensbury style. Alawi is determined so expect him to keep going till he either wins or get his ass kicked! Guy is the better boxer and wrestler but Alawi has fabulous Muay Thai and has a blue belt in BJJ so expect him to come out kicking to try to get Guy to the ground and see what happens, but with Guy’s decent wrestling skills this could backfire.

VERDICT: Alawi (but I want Generic Guy to win because of the name).

Next up Round 4…...

Tyler “Chizam” Jones “King” Arthur Clark

Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/28/28b3.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w14.jpg

Both of these fighters have one fight each under their belts with differing results Chizam sweated more in his dressing room getting changed then he did in the ring when he absolutely destroyed Gardner in his first ever fight coming out charging like a raging bull on steroids and hit him with a combo that opened him up and he ended up winning his fight after 0.09mins of round 1. Sensational stuff in all fairness to the lad. The King on the other hand lost his debut bout when losing by TKO (strikes) after 2.16mins of round 1, King has dangerous knees but didn’t get to use them only once as his opponent Wallace aggressively kept him pinned with punches and combos, which to be fair to the King he took quite a few, 7 in fact. King is a good Liverpudlian so don’t expect him to go down easy and I wonder is he from the Red or the Blue side of the city??? Liverpool lads are tough as nails so I would expect this to be an interesting contest. Both fighters are evenly matched and the only difference is that Chizam is the better wrestler and King is the better BJJ. This is very hard to call and if King can weather the storm that is Jones at the start of a bout he may be able to counter and see if he has a glass jaw or not!

VERDICT: King (Arthur)

Hog “The Hammer” Bushwick Arthur “AK” Shelby

Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

VERDICT: Shelby

Shikhar “Gabbar” Dhawan Victor Viriato

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

Normally only preview 4 main events but when I saw Gabbar’s record I had to make a comment, he is coming off a 4 fight winning streak - well done my good man that is very impressive. Gabbar’s boxing is tip drawer and he has knocked out all his previous opponents but Viriato won his debut event and is a good brawler so this could be an exceptional fight. Can Gabbar continue his hot streak???

VERDICT: Gabbar

Tiago Alexandre Mickey “The Unflappable” Ward

Debut Fight Record 0-2-0 (W-L-D)

VERDICT: Ward

Anderson “Spider” Silva Guille “Kleine” Oost

Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D)

VERDICT: Oost

That’s all folks let’s see how my predictions go and see if it gets some smack talk started if anyone disagrees with me!

I see Dhawan kept his winning streak going - that's 5 wins from 5 fights, great going

Arthur Shelby is not impressed, He thinks Gabbar is just an obese middleweight, Arthur is willing to step up at any weight and take this Gabbar fool out, in or out of the ring. Don't be scared Flabbar

Sins, I can set up an openweight fight with you and whoever you want at any time, bro.

Arthur 'AK' Shelby has his next fight lined up with a quick turn around against a 2-0 fighter Ruston "Taxman" Cohle (334264) .

After this fight the only fights that interests Shelby is a title fight at 185 or Gabbar.

A nearly full house in Hayashi’s Lounge was the last event run by JAG Battle League and the winners on the night were as follows:

Jordan

Collins

Generic Guy

Jones

Shelby

Dhawan (now on a hot streak of 5 wins undefeated)

Alexandre

Oost

Well done to all the winning fighter (and indeed managers who showed extreme talent in telling their fighters exactly how to win :) on the night).

FIght of the night went to Generic Guy V Alawi and Jordan won sub of the night with Jones taking the KO of the night. Well done one and all

Next event taking place is Trials by FIre VI in the same venue in London, hopefully the current heatwave won’t affect the attendance figures too much!

Top of the bill is the pairing of Skrtic V Fernandes

Drogovan “The Strangler” Skrtic Luis Fernandes "Demolidor"

Record: 2-0-0 (W-L-D) Record: 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w18.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/24/24b3.jpg

Fernandes "The Demolisher" looks a little tired coming into this fight so for his sake he will need to use his superior boxing talents to try and end this one early tomorrow. The Demolisher has one fight and one win to his name and will be looking to continue that run, he was winner by way of KO (Strikes) after 0.32mins of his forst round of his first fight so this man knows how to hit hard! He is a powerful man and if can swing (and connect early) then The Strangler is in trouble.. Not sure how the strangler got his nickname but I'm not asking him! I would suspect its either to do with his extreme love life or the fact that his 2 wins to date were by way of triangle choke holds! He has won both of his fights in round one. He is very determined in how he fights and given The Demolishers boxing ability I would expect Demolisher to try to stay standing with the Strangler trying to get in close and take him down.

Verdict: Skrtic

Next up:

Billy "Smudge" Fotherby Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagodiv

Record: 1-0-0 (W-L-D Record: 1-0-0 (W-L-D

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/24/24w13.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32b9.jpg

If Smudge didn't look so tired coming into this fight I would favour him over the Eagle but looks like Smudge has been spending too many nights in his local pub Fossgate Special in York and is struggling with his energy levels at present. As an Irishman I could suggest he tries a pint of Guinness and a whiskey chaser before starting this fight to put some pep in his step :). Anyhow Smudge has won his first fight by way unanimous decision and showed a lot of guts to win his debut fight. The Eagle won his first fight by an absolute fluke and a travesty of justice which was probably the most worst result EVER in the history of UFC..... Now that I got that out of my system he won his first fight easily after round 3.32mins of round one against one of my own fighters (hence the rant above :) ) by way of KO Strikes. Not happy to lose but to be fair it was a decent fight and he really put it up to my fighter. Smudge has the better boxing and Muay Thai by a long margin but he will struggle with his energy levels if The Eagle gets in close and controls the fight and gets some takedowns on Smudge.

VERDICT: Nurmagoduv

Matteo "The Machine" Claessens Gideon "Scorpion" De Bruin

Record: 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Record: 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w8.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6w4.jpg

Claessens won his last fight in Trials by Fire when winning by unanimous decision after going the distance with Buddy This was a real war of attrittion with Buddy throwing numerous punches with the Machine standing tall and taking these but giving as good back and trying to bring the fight to the canvas a number of times, when he got to ground he reall pounded Buddy performing 47 ground strikes! De Bruin funnily enough won his debut fight by way of unanimous decision and most of the fight was spent on the canvas so I expect this to be a fight where both fighters will try to get some takedowns and see how things play out from there. I can see the Machine trying to get this to the canvas early and the only hope that De Bruin has is if he can stay standing as much as possible and try to wear the machine down with his much superior MT skills before hitting the floor with him

VERDICT: Claessens

Ted "Zodiac Killer" Cruz Lyodo "Karate Kid" Machida

Record: 2-0-0 (W-L-D) Record: 1-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/37/37w8.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/31/31w45.jpg

Machido is a very quick counter fighter that loves some Ground and Pound and lost his last fight by way of Submission (Triangle Choke) after 3.36mins of Round 2. Not sure where his nickname came from given his absolute lack of ability in MT but assume it's because he is a fan of the original Karate Kid films where and underdog comes from nowhere to win the tournament. He faces the Zodiac Killer Cruz who is undefeated in 2 fights and is looking for his hatrick against Machido. Cruz's last fight was against one of my fighters and he won in round 1 after 4.58mins by way of TKO Strikes. The 2 fighters went toe to toe with Cruz showing the better technique and landing a lot more punches my lad took nearly a week to recover from the beating he took so don't underestimate Cruz's striking ability. I think that Cruz will try to stay standing but Machida to have a chance needs to use his fantastic Wrestling and BJJ skills to try to beat Cruz. Hard to call this one but fancy Machida's speed to get in close to Cruz then get him to canvas then end the fight.

VERDICT: Machida.

Unfortunately due to my family holiday for most of this week in Legoland time is short so I don't have time to put forward my thoughts for the rest of the card so I'm going to have to leave it there for this event.

Hope you enjoyed the review and look forward to the next one.

Thanks

Top of the bill is the pairing of Generic Guy V Collins

Generic Guy Micheal “The Big Fellow” Collins

Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w12.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/34/34w9.jpg

This should make for an interesting pairing for the night as both fighters on paper are very similar in their skills with Collins the slightly better boxer but Guy shading it in the wrestling area. I have stated previously that I love the name applied to Collins opponent but that won’t stop me from telling my boy Collins to try to knock him out of the cage! Guy is coming off a win on his first fight when he won by TKO Strike after 2.29 of the second round of his match his first fight was a real slugfest and the result never looked in doubt from the first round. With Collins boxing and Guy’s granite chin this should be interesting! Collins has 2 fights to his name with his debut ending after 4.58 mins of round 1 by way of TKO Strikes, his second fight he won by way of KO punches after 3.06mins of round 1. This is going to be a tough fight but as Collins is my guy I have to favour him to win

VERDICT: Collins

Next up

Ruston “Taxman” Cohle Arthur “AK” Shelby

Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32w41.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/16/16w8.jpg

This is an interesting pairing in that Shelby is better with his hands and Cohle is pretty nifty with the feet with his superior MT. These lads are even enough other than that. Both have unblemished records and it’s going to be a shame but one of them is going home defeated on Saturday. AK has won his 2 fights very differently in that his debut was won by way of KO Punch and the second win was by way of submission Triangle showing his versatility in fights. Cohle meanwhile has won his 2 bouts by way of Submissions - I would suspect that with his weaker ground work that AK is gonna come out of the blocks like a lunatic and floor the Taxman before he can bring his slightly better wrestling skills to bear. I fancy the lad AK for this fight

VERDICT: Shelby

After the above 2 lunatics finishing kicking the sh*te out of each other....

Chet “The Master” Bader Juanatamo “No Manches” Padilla

Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 0-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/5/5b2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/5/5b5.jpg

This is a straight Mexico V USA fight, luckily enough it’s taking part in London because if it was in the US then Padilla would have had a fight to even get into the country never mind the cage! Chet has one win to his name on his debut when he destroyed his opponent in 1.41mins of round 1 by way of Submission (armbar). His debut fight was mainly spent on the ground which wasn’t a bad this as his wrestling & BJJ are the best talents that he has to work with. Padila will be looking to bounce back after his debut loss by unanimous decision went against him. This contest might be decided quickly if Padilla’s superior boxing skills can take Bader out early. Padilla is the much better boxer but Bader has way better MT and BJJ. I would expect Bader to try to get in close to negate Padilla’s boxing advantage then take him to the ground where he can finish the fight. Close call on this but I’m gonna favour Bader for this one

VERDICT: Bader

Tiago Alexandre Hanno Van Der Merwe

Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/27/27b1.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w24.jpg

Tiago has one win to his name from his debut bout when he won by way of unanimous decision where he thought his opponent was a nail and he was a hammer when he tried to pound him into the canvas with 79 attempted ground strikes! Hanno’s debut fight was a much different affair when he won by way of submission (RNC) in the first round of his fight. Hanno is known as good brawler and can take a punch! Hanno has much better boxing and MT skills than Alexandre and Alexandre shades it on the wrestling and BJJ side. I would have favoured Hanno to win this fight but he is looking very tired and weary and needs to rest up and recover for the fight but he is still going to struggle at this stage.

VERDICT: Alexandre

Summary and Verdicts for rest of the card is as follows:

Jack “Nasty Pasty” Nasty Marshall “Erikdon” Sasquacth

Heeeeeeeeres Title Night………...Next battle of the cage is Sedlacek V Dada duking it out for the Featherweight title on the night. It will be a night of great excitement with 3 titles on the line with Budo and Shoemaker fighting for the Heavyweight titles and Inu and Takashi fighting for the Middleweight title it promises to be a night of high drama with a lot at stake.

Main fight of the night despite the title of the event :) is Budo V Shoemaker battling for the Heavyweight title

Thay "Sleeping Pill" Budo "Air" Jordon Shoemaker

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15286846848534.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/29/29w20.jpg

Budo has the slightly better record her with 4 wins to his name amazingly with all ending in the first round of each fight by way of either KO Punch or TKO strikes. There is some debate over his nickname of Sleeping pill and some say that it’s because he puts his opponents to sleep in the ring with his sweet fists and others say it’s because he has such a lack of personality that he has to use sleeping pills to get laid! I’m not sure which is true but to be honest I’m not going to ask him as he is an angry man. His opponent for the title has 3 wins to his name with all of them ending in the first round also with a TKO Strikes, Submission (Armbar) and KO Punch ending all his fights early so far. With Budo’s punching ability and Shoemakers good chin this should be interesting fight as these are two fighters not afraid to stand toe to toe and duke it out. Shoemaker has a serious advantage in the MT department and if he can use this to sap Budo’s energy whilst staying out of his reach he has a good chance of taking Budo down but if Budo gets too close too early it could be all over very quick.

VERDICT: Budo

Standup Fighter Jake "The Fat Sibling" Jones

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14760593138760.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/38/38w13.jpg

No title on the line here but nonetheless a good fight on the cards with the relatively untested Jones versus the more experienced Fighter. Jones absolutely destroyed his first opponent in his debut fight when he won after 0.21mins of round 1 by way of KO Punch, he only threw 3 punches and knocked Haram out cold so that says a lot about Jones punching power. Jone’s opponent is probably the most ironically named fighter around - for a guy named Standup fighter he sure loves hitting the canvas following takedowns! Fighter has 4 wins to his name with 3 by TKO Strikes and one by Decision. He has some pretty impressive groundwork skill which has won all 4 of his fights for him. I think Jones best chance of ending Fighter’s winning streak is to try to keep on his feet and pick him off with his superior boxing ability on the night. This is a hard one to call but I’m gonna favour Jones on this fight.

VERDICT: Jones

Shiba "Woofu" Inu Saku Takashi

Record 2-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/41/41a2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/41/41a1.jpg

This is the middleweight title bout and could be called the Battle of Japan with these two warriors hailing from Yokohama and Tokyo, wonder if they shared a jet over to the fight to save on costs?? Takashi has the slightly better record with 3 wins from 3 fights, he has gone the distance in 2 of his 3 fights to get the Decision victory so he has the legs and determination to get the win. Inu has had 2 victories by way of submission and a defeat by way of KO to his name. Inu has the much better boxing, MT skills and BJJ skills compared to Takashi but don't underestimate Takashi, he hasn’t won 3 on the trot for no reason. Both these fighters are fond of takedowns and Inu took a big scalp in his last fight when he ended Markovic’s 4 fight unbeaten stretch. All the signs for this one point to an victory for Inu but with both fighters fondness for takedown’s and fighting on the ground will Takashi’s better wrestling skills help him to overcome Inu??

VERDICT: Inu

And now to the fight that this event is named after….. Sedlacek v Dada. It’s also worth viewing the pre fight interview for this event on the forum at the following link

This is a mouthwatering contest with both fighter unbeaten to date but after Saturday one of them is going to be going home crying to their momma. The overall stats for this one show that Dada has some fantastic boxing skills and threw 12 punches and landed 11 of them to win after 0.44mins of round one to win his last fight. Dada is also the winner of the QFC 16 man tournament recently so he is a man that knows how to win. Dada has won by way of TKO (3) and unanimous decision (2) in his previous outings. This is his his debut for JAG and he will be hoping to make it a successful fight. The Python in comparison has won all his previous fights by way of submission with his longest fight lasting a whole 2.40mins of round 1!! He has a good chin and usually fights on the counter which will make this interesting as Dada will likely come out swinging as he throws a lot of punches in his fights. Python will probably try to get in under the punches and use his superior MT to weaken Dada and then unleash his fantastic BJJ skills to try to end this fight before Dada’s hands can cause him serious harm.

Verdict Budu? Oh i'm glad I got the means to see how the match goes from my vacation home. Shoemaker is going to make history as JAG's first heavyweight champ!

id like to point out that the heavy weight division is 205+ … 205 is light heavy weight...… so shoemaker unless your fighting the boys who can weight up to 265 then idk how your gunna be the first Heavyweight champ lol
