Question about fight commentary

is this line pure flavor text or does it mean that the fight has actually been close to getting stopped?

"Fighter X is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight."

Neither this or the one where someone lands a right hook and the other guy "drops to one knee" looks like they really mean that much to me. More than once it was my own guys landing on these ones but overall they were getting their asses kicked in the fight.

I think it's just a random line and it's not to be taken as an indication of how the fight is going. I've seen it happen often where the opposite fighter ends up winning. And the whole "drops to one knee" thing I feel like maybe it's kind of like a slip that the commentator might have misinterpreted or something like that.
