Timmy Posted April 24, 2015 Report Share Posted April 24, 2015 New company "Promotions/PR". PR/Promotions companies are allowed to make contracts with Orgs/Gyms/Supps/Cloth and Alliances. The contract allows access to the "mail all" function as availiable to the companies. All the manager IDs on the bought list are added to the PR/Promotion company's list. The PR/promotion company has a few menus to filter the list maybe (whatever is easy for Mike). This allows a PR/Promotions company to build a mailing list. It should be quite expensive, say, $1000 minimum per name when you buy a list from another company. So, a list from an org with 150 managers, for example, will cost at least 150k. This is aimed at wealthier managers as a new business (new managers have laundry etc, and experienced managers can't wait for something new). It will cost 500k or more to get a list of 500 managers, and if there are duplicates (the same manager in two lists), they pay twice. So it gets more and more expensive to add new names. Plus, the contract is only for a limited time, perhaps 2 months max. The PR/Promotion company can sell a service of promotion. You can hire a PR/promotion company to publicise anything in the game and they will charge you a fee. It could be a tourney, or a new org, your own RL band or gym , whatever. The PR/Promotion companies with big lists will be able to get you noticed. Let's say the PR/Promotion company has a mailing list of 1500. It cost them, at least, 150k to buy that list. They might charge you 100k to promote your "thing" - but they can promote more than one, so a 1500 list could be used to promote 5 events/startups over 2 months and charge 5 different customers 100k each, thus making a profit. The skill in being a good PR/promotion company would be to put some effort in and have a flair for getting people interested. Anyone can spam a shitty message to 1500 managers, but who can actually sell them something? Other opportunities arise for everyone. New PR/Promotion companies, writers, opportunities for artists to sell promotional posters/flyers to the PR/Promotion companies. Not least, orgs and gyms that promise not to sell your name to a list. And probably more. I think it also will lead to more forum use as any promotion will inevitably point everyone to a forum thread with detail and artwork, and that can't be bad. I've always wanted this kind of company to be added, but never before thought of a way it could actually work. I think selling lists could make it possible. One last thing. The obvious question to be asked is "Who the F wants more spam?" And that's a good point, except that this will be a new company type and every PR/Promotion mail you get will be from a named company. Remember also that selling "we won't sell your name to a list" becomes an option for gyms, orgs and other companies. It won't take long to work out who the spammers are that you can bin without reading. Hopefully, it won't take long before you know one or two PR/Promotion companies that have the gift and you can't wait to read What do you think players? EDIT: Next day. What was I thinking?
