Cobra7 Posted September 8, 2017 Report Share Posted September 8, 2017 Ironman Fight Club XV (Hyashis Lounge Los Angeles) Fight 1: Jon Under The Thumb Anderson (0-7, 170lbs) vs. Pero Kostolomac (3-4, 267lbs) Opening the evenings MMA action is a fight from the lower end of the IFC roster. Jon Anderson is currently 0-7 and still looking no closer to picking up his first win but if ever there was an award for persistence Anderson would be a shoe in. His opponent on this occasion is IFC veteran Pero Kostolomac who is himself currently on the end of a four fight losing streak. You can bet the house on Kostolomac breaking that run tonight but still he must not be complacent. He has the skills on the feet to make this a quick nights work but should the fight hit the ground Pero will lose any advantage he held and by a large margin. Fight 2: Mikey Bee (1-0, 250lbs) vs. Ken The Worlds Most Lethal Shamrock (1-2, 175lbs) Mikey Bee made his MMA debut at IFC XII and got straight into winning ways with a decision victory over Efan Abiodun. Tonight he faces Ken Shamrock who has run into a bit of turbulence in his short career so far. Currently on a two fight losing streak after an impressive IFC debut, Shamrock will be looking end that run with a win over Bee. Though both favor the stand up it is Shamrock who would have the advantage in that area. Bee does posses strong wrestling skills so if that somehow transfers into offense his odds would most definitely go up. Fight 3: Brock The Bodyguard Sampson (0-0, 170lbs) vs. Victor Phenom Belfort (1-4, 220lbs) Making his debut in the IFC, a man from the same camp as fighters such as the Brooklyn Brawler and Damian Demento. Brock The Bodyguard Sampson will no doubt be looking to emulate the early success of the aforementioned fighters and take advantage of the bad run of losses of his opponent Victor Phenom Belfort. Belfort hasnt managed to get his hand raised in four consecutive outings now and he must be wondering what he can do to turn things around. Fight 4: David Oconner (3-4, 300lbs) vs. Akio Yamamoto (3-3, 150lbs) David Oconner makes his return to the cage after suffering a first round KO at the hands of Terry Bogard. Previous to that Oconner was looking extremely destructive and on a three fight win streak all by the way of KO. His opponent is submission wrestler Akio Yamamoto who is also entering the bout of the back of a loss. In his last fight Yamamoto had the unfortunate luck to run into a monster left hook from 300lb Heath Bace in what was otherwise a fight many predicted Yamamoto to win. Once again Yamamoto will giving up a huge amount of weight in this fight and will no doubt be very aware of the power that Oconner possesses. Simply put this fight will come down to whether Oconner can connect before Yamamoto can find a way to get this fight to the ground Fight 5: Dark and Light Soul Shadow (1-1, 170lbs) vs. Sirimongkol Niyotrong (0-1, 152lbs) Seventeen year old prospect Soul Shadow makes his second IFC appearance after a spectacular TKO victory over Boyd Clark in his debut fight. Currently looking extremely well rounded with competent skills across the board Soul Shadow could very well end up being the real deal. Tonight he faces a stern test in stand up with his opponent Siromongkol Niyotrong. Niyotrong had a very tough debut fight against a more experience opponent and ended up losing by TKO in round 2. Although disappointing, Niyotrongs camp were pleased with the effort of his performance. In this match up, Niyotrong may have a slight advantage in the stand up though Shadow looks to be more than capable of holding his own there but the ground is where Niyotrong would truly be out of his depth. It will be very interesting to see if Soul Shadow decides to stand and trade or try and take the fight towards where hell have the biggest advantage. Fight 6: Klaus The House Chugman (5-2, 130lbs) vs. Giovanni Gomes (1-1, 168lbs) Our sixth fight of the evening pits two BJJ brown belts against each other in what will no doubt be a ground war. Klaus The House Chugman returns to the cage in quick fashion after only seeing action several days ago. There he got back to winning ways with a submission victory over hapless Jon Anderson in the first minute of round one. Tonight he faces a much tougher challenge in young BJJ fighter Giovanni Gomes. Gomes doesnt have the experience that Chugman does but he will have a slight advantage in size as do most of Chugmans opponents. His last bout he came out on top against fellow BJJ brown belt Lord Beerus in an exciting back and forth submission shoot out. Chugman could be considered the favorite for this fight with his experience and superior wrestling being the main factors but will still have to be very careful in the guard of Gomes as any lapse in concentration could end up being costly Fight 7: Delwyn Born Wynner Baines (3-3, 168lbs) vs. Daniel Unsanitary Sainty (4-3, 150lbs) Delywn Born Wynner Baines in back after a very tough fight against Serj Malakian in which he displayed great determination and heart holding on to the third round before getting caught with a huge knee when closing the distance. Tonight hell face Daniel Sainty who is back after suffering his first loss after a run of four submission victories. Both fighters have been in and out of the top 10 since the beginning of the orgs history and while both sit just outside currently its quite possible that a victory would be enough to vault them back in. Both fighters are almost polar opposites of each other with Baines the boxer and Sainty the BJJ brown belt. Baines has been gradually putting on size in order to be more competitive against the heavier fighters and will actually have a slight weight advantage on this occasion. Sainty does have a history of struggling against strikers and without much in the way of takedowns may have to get creative if he wants to avoid ending up trading blows with Baines. Co-Main Event: (#6) Brooklyn Brawler (4-1, 190lbs) vs. Jaime Hudgens (2-1, 300lbs) Our Co-Main event is a battle between two heavy handed fellows who have both been looking pretty destructive lately. #6 ranked Brooklyn Brawler makes his third appearance in the IFC and has a record of 4-1 overall. All four victories are by way of KO and currently Brawler has gone undefeated in his last three. His opponent Jaime Hudgens is only slightly less experienced with a record of 2-1 overall and coming into this bout on a two fight win streak again both by KO. Both fighters are evenly matched with strong boxing and while Brawler has the better wrestling, Hudgens has the more well rounded ground game overall. Hudgens also has a sizable weight advantage and an opportunity to gain victory over a current top 10 ranked fighter. For Brawler a win here would put him at four in a row and ever closer to challenging for a title shot. Main Event: (Champion) Mew Choo (6-0, 191lbs) vs. (#1) Corpse Making Cowboy Don Joe (5-0, 190lbs) In out main event of the evening IFC Champion Mew Choo returns to the cage after becoming the first fighter to successfully defend the IFC belt at least once. Still undefeated after six fights, Choo is looking harder and harder to beat after each and every fight. In his last, he took out former champion Ricky Big Tex Hughes in just 40 seconds of the first round. Something not many would have predicted when the fight was announced. For his second title defence he faces perhaps his most dangerous challenger yet in the shape of undefeated former Empire Grind middleweight champion Don Joe. Don Joe enters the IFC with a huge buzz and an immediate opportunity to seize his second belt in as many fight organisations. Both fighters are natural middleweights and both favor a more traditional boxing style on the feet. Should the fight hit the floor Choo would most likely have the upper hand with his submission prowess but going on past history Choo is unlikely to force the fight to the ground on purpose. Don Joe has a granite chin and with five KOs in five fights, some obvious firepower in those fists too. Choo is also a very proficient finisher and no fighter has yet managed to go the distance with him. With all this in mind its plain to see that this fight is going to be a war and whilst theres no guarantee of a finish, something you can bet your house on is that someone is walking away from this fight with a 0 on the end of his record. Whoever walks out the champ has Android seventeen next. SixFootPenguin Posted September 9, 2017 Report Share Posted September 9, 2017 I truly believe if you earned a title shot take it before someone upsets you and takes your spot, that being said I wish Android Seventeen the best of luck for his title shot he earned however I know both of us would never back down from a fight and the second your free whether your champ and I earn my title shot or you lose ill gladly take you on again. Keep in mind there is a chance, even if slight that we meet in new blood tournament against each other in the finals so we might be fighting for a title regardless. Terry Crew has been the underdog every round and that wont change however how many of my first 3 fights with Damien Demento was I the favorite? Alfred Posted September 10, 2017 Author Report Share Posted September 10, 2017 Ironman Fight Club XV (9th September 2017) - Post Fight Recap A very solid and eventful evening for the IFC tonight with quite a few surprise results. In the main event of the evening, the IFC Open Weight title was on the line as champion Mew Choo made his second title defense since taking the strap from Steven "The Steamroller" Kennedy. He faced undefeated "Corpse Making Cowboy" Don Joe who had made his way over from Empire Grind and was the last man to hold their middleweight title before the company went quiet. The fight was set for five rounds but we didn't even need five minutes before the champion reemerged with his gold belt and undefeated streak intact. Some aggressive and precise striking ended the bout at 0:23 of the first round and sets Choo on a collision course with possibly his toughest test to date, number one ranked contender "Red Ribbon Armys" Android Seventeen. Seventeen is currently 7-1 overall and hasn't lost a fight in his last five. Frighteningly all of his seven victories have come by way of KO. The Co-Main event saw #6 ranked Brooklyn Brawler take on Jaime Hudgens who sat just outside the Top 10 overall. It was a big fight for Hudgens and on this occasion he fell short getting caught with a showcase superman punch KO at 2:28 of the first round. Brawler now moves up to #3 and is looking very much like a true title contender Other notable fights from this evening include BJJ practitioner Daniel "The Unsanitary" Sainty snatch a submission victory from Delwyn "Born Wynner" Baines right at the very last moment. Baines was up two rounds to Sainty's zero going into the final round but an early takedown put Baines exactly where he didn't want to be and was unable to hold on until the final bell. Sainty by Armbar 3:54 of Round 3 and with this win re-enters the Top 10 at #10 150lb submission wrestler Akio Yamamoto had a great result against 300lb David Oconner catching the big man with a kneebar in just under a minute. Yamamoto put together a well executed game plan in avoiding the heavy hands of Oconner and as a result adds another win to his record. Brock Sampson, who is from the same camp as Brooklyn Brawler and Damien Demento, made an impressive debut to his IFC career taking out Victor Belfort by TKO at 2:56 of Round 1. Lastly, and the biggest upset in IFC history so far, Jon "Under The Thumb" Anderson broke his seven fight losing streak with a submission victory over former ranked contender Pero Kostolomac. Kostolomac was a huge favorite going into this bout and had a massive advantage in the stand up. Unable to capitalize and coupled with some tactical errors, the fight hit the floor where Anderson was able to secure a rear naked choke just before the end of round 1 and pick up his very first MMA career win. SixFootPenguin Posted September 13, 2017 Report Share Posted September 13, 2017 Ironman Fight Club XVI sept 16 fight preview Match 1: Bricks "Parpaing" Thrower (5-4, 205lbs) vs Boyd "The Vanilla Og" Clark (2-4 ,170lbs) Both fighters are still very young and still have a long way left in their career however neither fighter has been super impressive so far. On one hand we have Brickers Thrower with a winning 5-4 record who seems to be very hard to predict since he throws everything at you, though it seems he does not accel at anything, he is definitely the more well rounded fighter. Boyd Clark seems to be more of a mt fighter though in 6 fights he has 1 ko victory, 1 decision victory and 4 ko loses so he is known to be finished more than he can finish. While on paper this is not an exciting fight, anything could happen from a stand up to a ground fight and it will not be predictable at all and those can be the best kinds of fights. Good luck to both of them in turning around their career. Match 2: Mr Pillage (1-1, 150lbs) vs James "The Nervous" Gregor (3-4, 205lbs) I will not be using the full name for Pillage as it does not translate well in English however what did translate well was his IFC debut where he got a round 2 tko victory vs Boyd Clark. So far in his short career Mr Pillage has shown us that he likes to clinch and he likes to punch and so far he has punched real successfully. James Gregor on the other hand is a very interesting vet in the IFC with some mixed results. He is an excellent boxer and has dangerous gnp and all of his fights has led to a finish so far. I do not expect this fight to go to decision but I am very uncertain of what will happen. Pillage will most likely want to take this fight to the clinch as I do not expect that he can out box Gregor. It is also to note if he wants to clinch he needs to worry about Gregor's size and strength advantage. On the other hand if Gregor can utilize his takedowns for some gnp he might not need to worry about being controlled in the clinch. For a low card fight this is definitely one of the more interesting ones we will see of the night. Match 3: Lenny 'Fagan Blaster' Manelito (2-3 ,185lbs) vs Boss Yonic (4-3-1, 185lbs) While both fighters in this open weight division are the same weight, the fighters could not be anymore different when it comes to fighting style. We have the classic striker vs wrestling match up however Lenny has never been able to finish a fight and Boss Yonic has only lost by submission which I do not expect to see from Lenny tonight. It is also to mention that Boss Yonic has the only draw yet to date in the IFC and it was against exciting up and comer Cattan Engoria. Clearly in my opinion Boss Yonic is the heavy favorite however people love upsets and underdogs and it would be a good start to a turn around if Lenny Manelito could finish the former top ten Contender Boss Yonic. Match 4: Naiki "The Drunken Finnish Demon" Nekele (4-2, 260lbs) vs Lavar Washington (1-0, 242lbs) So far in his exciting career Naiki is getting to be known for two things, his granite chin that has not failed him yet with 0 ko loses and his Kicks. Most of the kos I normally have seen in the IFC are from punches or strikes but not so much Head kicks which is how he won both fights that he got a ko victory. Than there is the returning youngster who has not fought since IFC XI. His only fight was very dominating and he seemly has boxing that could potentially demolish fighters in the stand up if given the chance. While Naiki is getting close to breaking into the top 10 and has more experience in fighting, Lavar seemly has worked really hard on his boxing and I wouldn't want to be the guy fighting him in stand up. I feel like a lot is at stake for a fight that is only 4th on the card because it could be Nekele's ticket to the top 10 or Washington's big win as he starts to climb the ladder. Match 5: Paul Michael Levesque (3-4, 255lbs) vs Gin Kobra (3-4, 140lbs) Paul Levesque has yet to be knocked out so far losing 3 of his matches by way of submission. He also seems to like to use his gnp skills even though he is a white belt bjj and it has been proven to be a problem in the past. Gin Kobra is a higher belt in BJJ but he has yet to try to win a match via submission so far though I would think its possible he will try to if he gets into trouble on the ground. Even though I have not seen it really utilized yet but Levesque does have some decent boxing he can work with as well. Gin Kobra is used to using his Boxing skills so this might not be the day for Levesque to try to win with stand up but his boxing skills might help him last longer enough to get to the ground. I think if Levesque gets his hands on Gin Kobra and bring him to the ground it will be a quick easy ground and pound finish for the much larger fighteras long as he can stay away from Gin Kobra's better BJJ skills. Gin Kobra is on a 3 lose steak falling from the top 10, so this is a must win for him if he doesn't want to be known as a mid carder. Match 6: Iain "The CN" Tower (2-0, 275lbs) vs Toghrul Rasizrade (2-2, 162lbs) In his IFC debut Iain Tower needed 50 seconds to completely ko his opponent with leg kicks. In a qfc fight he also showed his ability to use his bjj to tap people out as well so he is a very exciting young prospect who believe might be on his way to the top 10 somewhere soon in the future. Here to spoil that is the much smaller tricky wrestler who last time fought older Damien Demento to a decision lose in what many believe to be a close fight though he really lost the fight on the ground which is where he definitely wants to take it this fight. He must be very wary that he is fighting someone with better bjj and he cant get sloppy on the ground in this fight or it could be over via submission. Iain has a much better stand up game and is the favorite in this fight but Toghrul has clearly been working on his boxing for some time now and keeps making improvements to it. Match 7: Damien "The Terror" Demento (3-1, 185lbs) vs Greg "The Gronk" Bell (3-5, 300lbs) I think a lot of people see Greg Bell as a former top 10 star who is now going to the middle of the pact but he has a big chance to prove why he has been a big part of IFC since the first card. While Bell has lost his last 3 fights he has a couple advantages other than experience coming into this fight. Just like any other Ground Fight Bell has been in, he is the bigger stronger gnper and in this fight he also has a higher BJJ belt than the smaller Wrestler who has been on a roll lately. There is another thing to see here that not everyone might notice but Gronk is not afraid to strike and the last wrestler fight Demento was in he lost the striking battle to Toghrul Rasizrade even getting cut while trying to get to the ground. Being better at striking as well being the bigger stronger fighter might take a lot out of Demento before Gronk unloads his dangerous gnp. Demento is known for his Dangerous gnp as well, cutting Jimbo Bradbrook bad enough to make the ref stop the fight in round 2. However if he makes the wrong move he could easily fall into a submission by Gronk who loves to wait and let his opponent make a mistake. Can Demento get one step closer to the top 10 or will he be another victim of the man who is tied for most IFC card fights in its short history? Match 8: Serj "Chop Suey" Malakian (4-3, 185lbs) vs Vic "Bonebreaker" Nikolai (5-4, 185lbs) We have almost a mirror of match 3 but with two IFC vets who started all the way back in IFC2. They both have recently lost to rising star Steve Butabi on their way to the top and could use a win in their quest for the top. Vic Nikolai will be wanting to take this fight to the ground but he does have a history of getting tkoed early in round 1 when met with some strikers and Malakian has a history of koing his ground savvy opponents within the first minute of the fight. If Nikolai can weather the early storm from Malakian and get this fight to the ground than he will be in a great position. This match is a classic case of a striker with not so great wrestling trying for a quick finish before he can get taking over by the ground game. The big question though who is the favorite in this match because I could see this going either way and one thing is certain, no one wants to lose with all these new rising stars and signees coming in because no one wants to be left in the dust in the title hunt. Match 9 (co main event): (8) Eldar Tskhadaia (5-1, 243lbs) vs (9) Steven "The Steamroller" Kennedy (4-3, 178lbs) Steven Kennedy has been the underdog every single fight since winning the IFC title awhile back, why should this match be any different. This is a position he is used to being in however this is a must win fight if he wants to be taken seriously about getting another title match which is an unfortunately situation for a former IFC champion. Elder Tskadaia is known for his gnp, something he has used to cut 3 people bad enough to get the ref to stop the fight. Sure that's not as interesting as getting kos but he still gets finishes and brutal ones at that. Kennedy will need to use his superior BBJ to tap out Tskadaia before he can do too much damage. With so many people trying to get their spot into the top 10 it is interesting to note that unless they get a draw, someone will be giving up a spot in the top 10. For one fighter, this will be a ticket to being taken serious in the top 10 but can Steven Kennedy once again prove all the disbelievers wrong that his title run was not a fluke? Match 10 (main event): (2) "Big" Steve Butabi (4-0, 290lbs) vs (4) Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes (7-2, 264lbs) If you like big hard hitting stand up fights than this might be one of the biggest main events you can have right now that is not for a title. Former IFC champion Ricky Hughes is known for big exciting fights and finishes as well as not losing a fight yet that wasn't for the title. The man who wants to change this fact is fastest rising star the undefeated Steve Butabi. Not many people in the IFC are bigger than Hughes psychically but Steve Butabi is known for making short work of his opponents. Only one fight so far from Butabi has gone more than one round and it was a true test of his granite chin as he spent most of a round getting stomped by Damien Demento's gnp but he came out of the round almost unfazed to win by tko 33 seconds into round 2. While being stand up fighters known for kos, Hughes throws all sort of strikes from combos to head kicks while Butabi seems to like punching as his effective method of hurting people and he has a clinch that I wouldn't want to be stuck in. Hughes has proved to be very resilient and is without a doubt the second biggest known star in the IFC besides current undefeated champion Mew Choo. Even though Butabi is higher ranked for this fight, he is definitely considered the underdog though a big win here would almost certainly mean a title shot in the future one would assume. In the main event of the evening, the fastest rising star in the IFC "Big" Steve Butabi took out former champion Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes in a short but very sweet slug fest that left Hughes out cold. With fighters this size, any direct hits are going to cause damage and though both mixed it up on the feet on this occasion Butabi was just a little more accurate with what he dished out. Steve Butabi defeats Ricky Hughes via KO 1:32 Rd 1. Butabi remains undefeated after five fights and retains his #3 ranking while Ricky Hughes slips down from #4 to #6 after suffering his second consecutive loss in a row. Co-Main event of the evening saw #8 ranked Eldar Tskhadaia grind out a unanimous decision victory against another former champion in #9 Steven "The Steamroller" Kennedy. It wasn't pretty and Tskhadaia won't have gained many fans with the manner in which he won but in an industry where the only thing that matters is getting your hand raised at the end of the fight, a win is a win. Tskhadaia now moves back up to #4 with a record of 6-1 and Kennedy drops out of the Top 10 for the first time since the IFC's inception. Other noteworthy events from tonight's fights include IFC veteran Vic "Bonebreaker" Nikolai breaking into the Top 10 for the first time in his IFC career. Nikolai made his debut at IFC II and has had ups and downs but his consistency finally paid off and a win over former #1 contender Serj "Chop Suey" Malakian tonight was enough to push him into the upper echelons of the IFC roster at #9. Vic Nikolai defeats Serj Malakian via Submission 3:24 Rd 1. Congrats to the "Bonebreaker" Damien "The Terror" Demento had a good win over Greg "The Gronk" Bell taking his overall record to 4-1 with a win streak of 3. SixFootPenguin Posted September 21, 2017 Report Share Posted September 21, 2017 Ironman Fight Club XVII fight review sept 23 2017 Match 1- Shigeru Miyamoto ( 1-2, 160 lbs) vs Pero Kostolomac ( 3-5, 267 lbs) There always has to be someone in last place in a division and that currently goes to former contender Pero Kostolomac. After debuting in IFC 1, he fought former IFC champion Steven Kennedy at IFC 2 winning the bout in 17 seconds and starting his career at 3-0 and a possible contender here in IFC. Since than he has lost 5 straight and has nothing left to lose, he can only possibly go up from here. Neither fight has any grappling or ground skills at all so expect this to be a simple brutal slugfest. Pero has much more experience being in mma longer as well as being 7 years older than Shigeru. it is also big to note that Shigeru has lost to 2 fighters that have been doing extremely well in IFC so it is possible that his only downfall so far in his short career has been the strength of his schedule which will help him later on if he can string some victories together. Match 2- Dream Panda (4-2, 245 lbs) vs Lord "God Of Destruction" Beerus (1-1 156lbs) On paper this is a hilarious match up of two young prospects that are one dimensional fighters. Neither has any stand up skills so this is expected to be a ground fight between a superior wrestler who is a white belt in bjj vs a brown belt in bjj who lacks a lot of wrestling. Both loses Dream Panda has had so far have been by submission to a purple and blue belt so that gives Lord Beerus a very distinct advantage in his match up. Though when you know exactly what your opponent wants to do is the best time to change your gameplan. With Dream Panda being a lot better as a wrestler i feel like its possible if he wanted to he could try to keep this fight standing since Lord Beerus will want to look for that easy submission all fight. Problem with this possible strategy is with neither fighter having skills in stand up what would be the outcome if this fight does not go to the ground? We have no idea who has the better striking ability in stand up but it is possible that if Dream Panda can keep this fight standing that he can use his almost 100lbs weight advantage to do damage in anything he could land. Match 3- Jeremy "God" Lamb (2-2, 245lbs) vs Yoshihiro Sexyama (0-0, 190lbs) This match was a last minute signing that will feature the mma debut of Yoshihiro Sexyama vs the IFC debut of Jeremy "god" Lamb. Being the first time Lamb has ever fought outside the heavyweight division may be very good or bad for his career. He has struggled vs bigger opponents so far however has a 55 lbs weight advantage going into this fight. Sexyama is a smaller faster grappler from Japan who will be trying to take this fight to the ground. Without much else info known about Sexyama we do not know what else we can expect from him yet however this will be a great first test for him because as a natural Middleweight you can expect to often fight fighters that are both bigger and smaller than yourself. Jeremy Lamb is currently not training so some people are concerned if he is not improving is he taking IFC seriously enough to start moving up the ladder? Match 4- Jimbo "Gpk" Bradbrook (2-3, 160lbs) vs Taz "Crash" Bandichoo (2-3, 240lbs) The first very thing to note when you take a look at Taz Bandichoo is that he has always lost any fight so far that has gone past a 30 second fight. He can brawl however so far has had a huge problem with running out of gas and the longer he fights the lower his chance has been to win. Despite the weight advantage here of 80 lbs Taz Bandichoo was outclassed heavily in his last fight vs 150lbs fighter German Cordova in his last fight. Jimbo Bradbrook's last outing was equally disapointing when the ref stopped his fight vs Damien Demento in round 2 thanks to being cut too bad during some vicious ground and pound however he was able to weather the storm for quite some time. Taz Bandichoo has really good stand up skills so it may be good for Jimbo Bradbrook to exploit what seems to be Bandichoo's weakness. If Jimbo can last long enough to start to wear down the better stand up fighter than he will be in good position to start making a comeback in IFC but Taz is still young at the age of 19 and has a long career left to get in shape and turn things around for himself. Match 5- Chong "The Star Fish" Tay (4-2, 210lbs) vs Alex Stefanovic (1-0, 192lbs) This is a fight of two up and coming young prospects and it will be a very good stand up brawl. It is a very good mention that Chong Tay has yet to ever be finished so far losing to 2 decisions while winning his other 4 fights by ko. So far Chong Tay has shown a penchant for wanting to go with a lot of combos and kicks but this time around he finds himself vs a very interesting opponent. Alex Stefanovic has only one career fight but in his fight he showed that he really likes to utilize a skill not very many people go for and that is big elbows. We do not know what other skills to expect from Alex however what we do know is that Chong Tay has never fought against elbows before and not many people have experience trying to fend them off. Chong Tay seemily throws more punch combos than anyone else i see in the IFC and will be looking for big quick strikes to disrupt Stefonvic's gameplan and has shown the ability to keep throwing big strikes without gassing himself out too early. This will be a very exciting fight as on paper it is too close to call and both of these fighters may have a very bright future in the IFC ahead. Match 6- En "Metal Priest" Esch (2-4, 238lbs) vs Heath "lizard arms" Bace (2-4, 300lbs) Heath Bace has had a very interesting start to his career so far. Even though on paper being known to be a wrestler what really seems to be what has won him anything so far is just being big and strong knocking out a much lighter opponent in the opening seconds with a couple punches. En Esch so far has been known to go the distance win or lose going to decision 4 of his 6 career fights so far. In his last bout we saw En Esch win the very first New Blood division bout before deciding to move back up to the normal Ironman division. It is very unclear if either fighter will make much of their career however both are still young enough that with the proper training they can make a nice turnaround. The one time En Esch has been finished so far was by the way of submission and even though Heath Bace has yet to win any bouts by submission yet it is of mention to note that he is a purple belt bjj vs the white belt En Esch and may be able to find a submission if he does actually get this fight to the ground. Match 7- Terry Bogard (2-1, 179lbs) vs "the Barbarian" Battle Ram (7-1, 220lbs) On this night we get to see the return of Battle Ram to the IFC under new management. Battle Ram had a couple previous fights before in the IFC and it is of note to say that his 1 lose came to current IFC champion Mew Choo and he also is the one person to beat a current number 5 contender Wolfgang Lee Roth. Not sure why his last manager dropped him after his first loss but I at the very least am very excited to see him back and curious to see what he will be able to do under new management. Terry Bogard is another very capable striker who somehow lost his last fight to Jan Schrjiber last fight in a 5 round decision. Not exactly sure why the fight was 5 rounds in this first place but that does not take away from the fact that he showed that he could actually last that long in a losing fight. Both seem to perfer stand up fighting and Terry Bogard may be the better striker in this fight. Battle Ram does have an age advantage but he was a free agent for awhile not getting the proper training so it is unclear if Battle Ram will perform to his fullest potential this fight but this is going to be one of the better fights of the night in my opinion in how close it may be. Match 8- Schmorgen Biscuit (4-1, 210lbs) vs Jan Schrijber (2-0, 237lbs) You almost want to forget that Schmorgen Biscuit has even lost since it was all the way back at IFC 1 where he lost to a cut in round 2 vs now #4 contender Eldar Tskhadaia. This is a classic wrestler vs striker match up however Biscuit does have decent skill in MT to help defend again his excellent MT opponent. As mentioned in the last match Jan for whatever reason was in a 5 round fight last time and has shown that he can go the distance and does not tire too easily. Both fighters are the same age and have been training a similar amount of time so this may come down to who has the better strategy rather than who is psychically the better prospect. This will be the biggest test of both men's career as they have a chance to start making it up towards the top of the rankings with a win here. This is my personal opinion but both managers seem to know exactly what they are doing in this fight and i do not expect this to be a quick or easy fight either way. (Co-Main Event) Match 9- Cattan "The Caribbean Death" Engoria (4-0-1, 215lbs) vs Dave "Tightass" Brooksbank (3-4, 160lbs) Despite his losing record Dave Brooksbank finds himself in a big match up for the co-main event of the evening. Cattan Engoria really does not need an introduction as funny as this sounds people seem to most remember him for his draw not all of his wins. All wins for both fighters have came via submission and we could be seeing yet another long chess match on the ground. While they are very similar in the way of purple belt bjj, Cattan Engoria is a much better wrestler. Dave Brooksbank is 7 years older than his opponent and will need to use his experience advantage in this fight but that may be the only advantage he has in this fight. Though in Dave Brooksbank's last fight he was able to do something that Cattan Engoria was not able to counter and that is beat Boss Yonic with a submission, while Cattan famousily got into a draw with Boss Yonic. Will Dave Brooksbank be able to pull off the upset and silence all his doubters? It is possible but i expect that Engoria can use his superior wrestling to prevent Dave from being at a good position on the bottom since I expect Engoria to be getting the takedowns in this fight. While not all fans like all these slower paced match ups I always love a good chess match. One wrong move and the fight can end in an instant and you get to see who has better control in a match up which is going to be a big deal if you start to make your way to the top at IFC. Right now we have a lot of top contenders that can either knock you out early or can control a fight well enough that they are not taking a lot of damage in a fight. (Main Event) Match 10- (8) " Gypsy" Tommy Walcott (5-1, 140lbs) vs Evgeni Lomachenko (5-1, 152lbs) Evgeni Lomachenko's good chin will be tested tonight as Tommy Walcott has been turning into one of the best well rounded young fighters on paper. Tommy unforunately lost his chance to be fighting for the IFC championship but he gets a good chance to bounce back against one of the better ground fighters in the org. Evgeni can beat you with both gnp or submissions and is a very dangerous brown belt. Tommy Walcott is primarily a striker but he does have better ground skills than Evgeni has stand up skills. With Evgeni's lack of stand up skills he must go to the ground or Tommy Walcott should be able to go to work on him in the stand up. Tommy Walcott was able to beat former IFC champion and known ground artist Steven Kennedy and his sprawling will be put to the test. I do not expect this fight to go to a decision but I also do not expect this fight to be over in the first round which is starting to become rarer in the IFC with all these 1 minute title fights and under 2 minute matches that have been coming up with some of the top fighters. With the top of the division moving so quickly in the last month if you want a chance at the title you really need to be on the top of your game so big matches like this are very important for any fighter right now. The champion Mew Choo is ranked 14 in mma tycoon for openweight and we are becoming to be a very known place for the underused open weight division. We have been growing more and more getting into bigger arenas and making a lot more revenue as of late. In tonight's main event #7 ranked "Gypsy" Tommy Walcott made short work of Evgeni Lomachenko, punishing the submission wrestlers failed attempts to get the fight to the ground with deadly accurate strikes and finally winning via TKO at 2:13 of Round 1. This was Tommy's first fight back since suffering his first professional loss against Android Seventeen at IFC XIV and with this win sees him move back up in the rankings to #4 with a overall record of 6-1. The Co-Main event of the evening left many throwing ripped up betting slips into the air like confetti as underdog Dave "Tightass" Brooksbank defeated hot prospect Cattan "The Carribean Death" Engoria with a guillotine submission at 0:34 of Round 3. Up until that point Engoria was ahead by two rounds by most scorecards and looking extremely good for a decision. This set back will have no doubt disappointed the Engoria camp but credit must be given to the crafty BJJ fighter Brooksbank on a good win that puts him just outside of the Top 10. SixFootPenguin Posted September 24, 2017 Report Share Posted September 24, 2017 Ironman Fight Club Mid Week 5 Fight Review (Sept. 27 2017) Match 1- Lavar Washington (1-1, 242lbs) vs Boyd "The Vanilla OG" Clark (2-5, 170lbs) The one good thing you can really say about Boyd Clark is that he is well rounded and does try to do everything in a fight. If he can concentrate on taking down his opponent who is one dimensional than he may stand a chance to finally get another win on his record after three straight loses. Lavar Washinton is a quick strong excellent boxer who has yet to be finished. I can not imagine that Boyd Clark would be able to stand up with Lava Washington so if this is the one time to have a strategy rather than seemingly just throw literally everything at your opponent at once, than Boyd Clark should try to take this fight to the ground. Both fighters are 19 years old and have plenty of time to turn around their career however if Boyd Clark plans on turning his career around he needs to start now and he needs to start getting better at something rather than mediocre at everything. Match 2- Ivashin Dmitrievich (0-0, 240lbs) vs "I Weigh" One Fortytwo (0-1, 142lbs) Time for some more New Blood division before the second round of the tournament happens. Speaking of the tournament, that is when One Forty Two debuted and he was taken out in the first round by another bantamweight. This time he takes on a debuting striker with similar stats on paper but a clear 98lbs advantage in a striking battle. It is reported that One Fortytwo has KO power but he has not had a chance to display it as it only took Jonathan Davis doing one combonation to the head to get the tko victory. While nothing is known about Ivashin Dmitrievich other than he has high mt, we know that One Fortytwo is reported to have dangerous knees. I would expect that the lot smaller striker may have trouble controlling his much larger opponent in a clinch but anything is possible especially when much is unkown about one of the fighters. Match 3- Chara Zaad (4-3, 210lbs) vs Bricks "Parpaing" Thrower (6-4, 204lbs) After awhile it is only natural that eventually we see a rematch and tonight is that night. Two months ago, Chara Zaad was able to tko Bricks Thrower in the first two minutes of the fight. With both fighters being young prospects two months can be plenty of training time to make a difference. On one end Chara Zaad is an excellent boxer but on paper not good at much else, where Bricks Thrower is good at nothing in particular but throws all sorts of moves at you ranging widely. Though neither fighter is very hyped they both have a winning record right now which you can not say for most of this card with debuts or at the least fighters with the same number of wins or loses. Both fighters are known for going the distance and Bricks Thrower is tied in the org for the most IFC decision wins, while Chara Zaad is tied for 4th after the three way tie for first. Match 4- Hank "Hill" Jones (0-0, 212lbs) vs Eobard "Professor Zoom" Thawne (0-0, 179lbs) Both fighters will be debuting in both MMA and the New Blood Division. Not much is known about either fight besides the obvious reports that one is good in mt and the other is a wrestler with a white belt in bjj. Eobard Thawne is the smaller wrestler who will definately want to take it to the ground but we cant assume what he will want to try to finish with as in the IFC we learned that white belts can tap people out too, refer to Ken Shamrock with no ground skills suprisingly upsetting Terje Warholm with a submission. They are both 18 year olds starting their career so we do not know what skills that they came to the mma with so its hard to make a prediction but more and more debuts in the New Blood division will be coming up as the division progresses now having 27 fighters after starting a 16 man tournament to decide its first champion. Match 5- James "The Neverous" Gregor (4-4, 210lbs) vs Toghrul Rasizade (2-3, 162lbs) James Gregor has proven that he is capable of winning fights both on the ground and in stand up though i think he may be better at stand up. It is also of mention to note that in 8 mma fights, James Gregor has never fought to a decision, it always end in a finish whether he wins of loses. On the other hand we have struggling youngster Toghrul Rasizade who is a wrestler that as of late has been getting better boxing. Toghrul Rasizade should have the superior wrestling/bjj in this fight but has struggled in the past vs another wrestler and James Gregor may be dangerous if he gets into a position to unleash some gnp. I always find James Gregor matches to be amusing even though they are never high on the card, you never know what to expect what James "The Neverous" Gregor steps into the ring besides someone will mostly likely getting a brutal finish regardless of who wins. Match 6- Brock "The Bodygaurd" Sampson (1-0, 170lbs) vs Mikey Bee (1-1 250lbs) Brock Sampson had a very good debut in the IFC when he beat Victor Belfort 2:56 into the first round by tko. Not many fighters in mma are from the African country of Chad and he expects to rep his country proud. He showed in his first fight that he can box and that has is decent at it but it is of note to mention that he also has a brown belt in bjj if the fight goes to the ground which this fight will probaly be a stand up war vs bigger sprawler Mikey Bee. Mikey Bee lost his last fight to a guy similar in size to Brock Sampson, Ken Shamrock, however Shamrock is better at stand up than Brock Sampson is. When I see a sprawler vs no wrestling match up I always wonder about the clinch as Mikey Bee has a chance to use the clinch to his benefit against a much smaller fighter. Brock Sampson is reported to have a granite chin and it will definately be put to the test vs the heavy handed hitter Mikey Bee. Match 7- Greg "The Gronk" Bell (3-6, 300lbs) vs Lenny "Fagan Blaster" Manelito (2-4, 185lbs) After being in the top 10 Greg Bell has lost 4 in a row in a rapid downward spiral that makes me surprised that his fight was hyped up enough to be this high in the card still. Neither fighter has a good record with both of them losing twice as much as they have won so far which has to start to become worrysome for them. Neither fighter started mma as a teen so they do not have as long as some others would in turning around their career. With that being said this is a classic striker vs wrestler match up though a lot looks in the favor of the wrestler in this fight. Greg Bell may be on a downward spiral but we all know he has dangerous gnp and with his huge size advantage he usually only needs a couple decent shots with his lay and pray style to end a fight. Lenny Manelito has been getting the bad reputation of not being able to finish a fight because he has 2 wins by decision and always has been finished in fights that he has lost. I am not sure what Lenny would have to do to stand a chance in this fight but Greg Bell is known for his granite chin and will definately not be the easiest fighter to get your first finish against. Match 8- Delwyn "Born Wynner" Baines (3-4, 168lbs) vs Ken"The Worlds Most Lethal M" Shamrock (2-2, 175lbs) Anyone who likes striking wars will love this match. Neither has much wrestling skills though I cant help but want to mention that Ken Shamrock has broken the rule book before with his white belt submission in his debut. Delwyn Baines is from the same camp as "Corpse Making Cowboy" Don Joe and they same to have very similar styles when it comes to boxing. They are both headhunters though Baines is a veteran in IFC and has had a lot less success with that strategy. Ken Shamrock has been in some tough fights so far and even though he has had some mixed results some consider him to be the favorite in this fight. Ken Shamrock is very strong though we can not always tell so easily when he is constantly being out weighed, he for once is the heavier fighter so it might come up in this fight. Delwyn Baines on the other hand is known for his granite chin and you know if you fight Baines you are in for a decent stand up fight regardless of the outcome. Match 9 (Co-Main Event)- (3) Brooklyn Brawler (5-1, 190lbs) vs (8) "Corpse Making Cowboy" Don Joe (5-1, 190lbs) If you do not look at this match closely on paper it looks like a mirror match of two same sized boxers but their approach to fights seem to be completely different leading to the same result. Neither fighter has ever made it out of the first round, Don Joe has never been in a fight that has lasted longer than 2 minutes so it is safe to say this may prove to be a quick brutal fight. Don Joe is a head hunter never throwing a strike that was not a head punch but the thing is if your knocking people senseless in the first minute of the fight all the time than why fight for the long finish? It has worked well for Don Joe so far though he lost his IFC debut in a very brutal quick knock out to Champion Mew Choo. Don Joe is the only fighter in the top 10 without an IFC win however he was a titleholder in another org that fell apart and has been in more big fights than Brooklyn Brawler as this will be the biggest fight Brawler has been in so far. Brawler so far is undefeated in IFC matches and has a much different approach when boxing. Though he has also always finished in the first round he has adapted a more wear down tactic style that has served him well so far. In his last two fights he was able to wear down and demolish two fighters by way of ko in a couple minutes each, winning the last fight with a very brutal superman punch after gassing Jaime Hudgens. It is also to note in his 3 IFC fights Brawler has been able to control the fights enough not to take much damage though it is known that Don Joe has the better chin if they are both hitting shots. The longer this fight goes the fight may be in Brawlers advantage with his style of wearing down his opponent but Don Joe may not need more than a couple shots and this will be a very highly anticipated fight. Match 10 (IFC CHAMPIONSHIP)- © Mew Choo (7-0, 191lbs) vs (1) "Red Ribbon Army's" Android Seventeen (7-1, 283lbs) After not having a successful title defense in IFC, the dominance known as Mew Choo began and he has won both his title defenses in less than a minute. We have seen Mew Choo tap out ground fighters as well as some brutal quick knock outs vs known ko artists like Ricky Hughes. No one has more IFC victories currently than Mew Choo so it would be very hard to bet against him right now. Android Seventeen in his IFC debut was able to beat the current #1 contender at the time "Gypsy" Tommy Walcott to receive this chance at the title. While Android Seventeen is confident that he will walk out victorious, he is the only fighter under 20 to fight for the IFC championship so far. Android Seventeen's granite chin will definately be put to the test because Mew Choo has put down big strikers down quick before. Android Seventeen is also known for finishing people in short fashion only needing to land a couple shots especially in the IFC where he will often be fighting outside his weight class and only one person comes to mind when i think of who is a larger fighter in the top 10 right now and that is (2) "Big" Steven Butabi who is only 7 pounds heavier. This should be a very quick paced explosive stand up fight as long as Android Seventeen does not get knocked down since that seems like the easiest way Mew Choo will get the fight to the ground for his superior BJJ however anything is possible in the IFC. Since IFC has started people are starting to get more interested in an open weight division and other orgs are now starting to try the concept that has been working well for IFC. One of the reasons IFC has been able to do so well is the ability to always put on the best fights that it can regardless of weight class and having a hyped champion. It has changed a bit over the last couple days but as of the last time i checked Mew Choo is ranked 16 overall in openweight in mma and has a big chance to lead IFC to a situation where their champion is ranked in the top 10 in the entire open weight division. Cobra7 Posted September 24, 2017 Report Share Posted September 24, 2017 Ironman Fight Club Mid Week 5 Fight Review (Sept. 27 2017) Match 1- Lavar Washington (1-1, 242lbs) vs Boyd "The Vanilla OG" Clark (2-5, 170lbs) The one good thing you can really say about Boyd Clark is that he is well rounded and does try to do everything in a fight. If he can concentrate on taking down his opponent who is one dimensional than he may stand a chance to finally get another win on his record after three straight loses. Lavar Washinton is a quick strong excellent boxer who has yet to be finished. I can not imagine that Boyd Clark would be able to stand up with Lava Washington so if this is the one time to have a strategy rather than seemingly just throw literally everything at your opponent at once, than Boyd Clark should try to take this fight to the ground. Both fighters are 19 years old and have plenty of time to turn around their career however if Boyd Clark plans on turning his career around he needs to start now and he needs to start getting better at something rather than mediocre at everything. Match 2- Ivashin Dmitrievich (0-0, 240lbs) vs "I Weigh" One Fortytwo (0-1, 142lbs) Time for some more New Blood division before the second round of the tournament happens. Speaking of the tournament, that is when One Forty Two debuted and he was taken out in the first round by another bantamweight. This time he takes on a debuting striker with similar stats on paper but a clear 98lbs advantage in a striking battle. It is reported that One Fortytwo has KO power but he has not had a chance to display it as it only took Jonathan Davis doing one combonation to the head to get the tko victory. While nothing is known about Ivashin Dmitrievich other than he has high mt, we know that One Fortytwo is reported to have dangerous knees. I would expect that the lot smaller striker may have trouble controlling his much larger opponent in a clinch but anything is possible especially when much is unkown about one of the fighters. Match 3- Chara Zaad (4-3, 210lbs) vs Bricks "Parpaing" Thrower (6-4, 204lbs) After awhile it is only natural that eventually we see a rematch and tonight is that night. Two months ago, Chara Zaad was able to tko Bricks Thrower in the first two minutes of the fight. With both fighters being young prospects two months can be plenty of training time to make a difference. On one end Chara Zaad is an excellent boxer but on paper not good at much else, where Bricks Thrower is good at nothing in particular but throws all sorts of moves at you ranging widely. Though neither fighter is very hyped they both have a winning record right now which you can not say for most of this card with debuts or at the least fighters with the same number of wins or loses. Both fighters are known for going the distance and Bricks Thrower is tied in the org for the most IFC decision wins, while Chara Zaad is tied for 4th after the three way tie for first. Match 4- Hank "Hill" Jones (0-0, 212lbs) vs Eobard "Professor Zoom" Thawne (0-0, 179lbs) Both fighters will be debuting in both MMA and the New Blood Division. Not much is known about either fight besides the obvious reports that one is good in mt and the other is a wrestler with a white belt in bjj. Eobard Thawne is the smaller wrestler who will definately want to take it to the ground but we cant assume what he will want to try to finish with as in the IFC we learned that white belts can tap people out too, refer to Ken Shamrock with no ground skills suprisingly upsetting Terje Warholm with a submission. They are both 18 year olds starting their career so we do not know what skills that they came to the mma with so its hard to make a prediction but more and more debuts in the New Blood division will be coming up as the division progresses now having 27 fighters after starting a 16 man tournament to decide its first champion. Match 5- James "The Neverous" Gregor (4-4, 210lbs) vs Toghrul Rasizade (2-3, 162lbs) James Gregor has proven that he is capable of winning fights both on the ground and in stand up though i think he may be better at stand up. It is also of mention to note that in 8 mma fights, James Gregor has never fought to a decision, it always end in a finish whether he wins of loses. On the other hand we have struggling youngster Toghrul Rasizade who is a wrestler that as of late has been getting better boxing. Toghrul Rasizade should have the superior wrestling/bjj in this fight but has struggled in the past vs another wrestler and James Gregor may be dangerous if he gets into a position to unleash some gnp. I always find James Gregor matches to be amusing even though they are never high on the card, you never know what to expect what James "The Neverous" Gregor steps into the ring besides someone will mostly likely getting a brutal finish regardless of who wins. Match 6- Brock "The Bodygaurd" Sampson (1-0, 170lbs) vs Mikey Bee (1-1 250lbs) Brock Sampson had a very good debut in the IFC when he beat Victor Belfort 2:56 into the first round by tko. Not many fighters in mma are from the African country of Chad and he expects to rep his country proud. He showed in his first fight that he can box and that has is decent at it but it is of note to mention that he also has a brown belt in bjj if the fight goes to the ground which this fight will probaly be a stand up war vs bigger sprawler Mikey Bee. Mikey Bee lost his last fight to a guy similar in size to Brock Sampson, Ken Shamrock, however Shamrock is better at stand up than Brock Sampson is. When I see a sprawler vs no wrestling match up I always wonder about the clinch as Mikey Bee has a chance to use the clinch to his benefit against a much smaller fighter. Brock Sampson is reported to have a granite chin and it will definately be put to the test vs the heavy handed hitter Mikey Bee. Match 7- Greg "The Gronk" Bell (3-6, 300lbs) vs Lenny "Fagan Blaster" Manelito (2-4, 185lbs) After being in the top 10 Greg Bell has lost 4 in a row in a rapid downward spiral that makes me surprised that his fight was hyped up enough to be this high in the card still. Neither fighter has a good record with both of them losing twice as much as they have won so far which has to start to become worrysome for them. Neither fighter started mma as a teen so they do not have as long as some others would in turning around their career. With that being said this is a classic striker vs wrestler match up though a lot looks in the favor of the wrestler in this fight. Greg Bell may be on a downward spiral but we all know he has dangerous gnp and with his huge size advantage he usually only needs a couple decent shots with his lay and pray style to end a fight. Lenny Manelito has been getting the bad reputation of not being able to finish a fight because he has 2 wins by decision and always has been finished in fights that he has lost. I am not sure what Lenny would have to do to stand a chance in this fight but Greg Bell is known for his granite chin and will definately not be the easiest fighter to get your first finish against. Match 8- Delwyn "Born Wynner" Baines (3-4, 168lbs) vs Ken"The Worlds Most Lethal M" Shamrock (2-2, 175lbs) Anyone who likes striking wars will love this match. Neither has much wrestling skills though I cant help but want to mention that Ken Shamrock has broken the rule book before with his white belt submission in his debut. Delwyn Baines is from the same camp as "Corpse Making Cowboy" Don Joe and they same to have very similar styles when it comes to boxing. They are both headhunters though Baines is a veteran in IFC and has had a lot less success with that strategy. Ken Shamrock has been in some tough fights so far and even though he has had some mixed results some consider him to be the favorite in this fight. Ken Shamrock is very strong though we can not always tell so easily when he is constantly being out weighed, he for once is the heavier fighter so it might come up in this fight. Delwyn Baines on the other hand is known for his granite chin and you know if you fight Baines you are in for a decent stand up fight regardless of the outcome. Match 9 (Co-Main Event)- (3) Brooklyn Brawler (5-1, 190lbs) vs (8) "Corpse Making Cowboy" Don Joe (5-1, 190lbs) If you do not look at this match closely on paper it looks like a mirror match of two same sized boxers but their approach to fights seem to be completely different leading to the same result. Neither fighter has ever made it out of the first round, Don Joe has never been in a fight that has lasted longer than 2 minutes so it is safe to say this may prove to be a quick brutal fight. Don Joe is a head hunter never throwing a strike that was not a head punch but the thing is if your knocking people senseless in the first minute of the fight all the time than why fight for the long finish? It has worked well for Don Joe so far though he lost his IFC debut in a very brutal quick knock out to Champion Mew Choo. Don Joe is the only fighter in the top 10 without an IFC win however he was a titleholder in another org that fell apart and has been in more big fights than Brooklyn Brawler as this will be the biggest fight Brawler has been in so far. Brawler so far is undefeated in IFC matches and has a much different approach when boxing. Though he has also always finished in the first round he has adapted a more wear down tactic style that has served him well so far. In his last two fights he was able to wear down and demolish two fighters by way of ko in a couple minutes each, winning the last fight with a very brutal superman punch after gassing Jaime Hudgens. It is also to note in his 3 IFC fights Brawler has been able to control the fights enough not to take much damage though it is known that Don Joe has the better chin if they are both hitting shots. The longer this fight goes the fight may be in Brawlers advantage with his style of wearing down his opponent but Don Joe may not need more than a couple shots and this will be a very highly anticipated fight. Match 10 (IFC CHAMPIONSHIP)- © Mew Choo (7-0, 191lbs) vs (1) "Red Ribbon Army's" Android Seventeen (7-1, 283lbs) After not having a successful title defense in IFC, the dominance known as Mew Choo began and he has won both his title defenses in less than a minute. We have seen Mew Choo tap out ground fighters as well as some brutal quick knock outs vs known ko artists like Ricky Hughes. No one has more IFC victories currently than Mew Choo so it would be very hard to bet against him right now. Android Seventeen in his IFC debut was able to beat the current #1 contender at the time "Gypsy" Tommy Walcott to receive this chance at the title. While Android Seventeen is confident that he will walk out victorious, he is the only fighter under 20 to fight for the IFC championship so far. Android Seventeen's granite chin will definately be put to the test because Mew Choo has put down big strikers down quick before. Android Seventeen is also known for finishing people in short fashion only needing to land a couple shots especially in the IFC where he will often be fighting outside his weight class and only one person comes to mind when i think of who is a larger fighter in the top 10 right now and that is (2) "Big" Steven Butabi who is only 7 pounds heavier. This should be a very quick paced explosive stand up fight as long as Android Seventeen does not get knocked down since that seems like the easiest way Mew Choo will get the fight to the ground for his superior BJJ however anything is possible in the IFC. Mew Choo has been on a tiar and may just be a better fighter than his other fighters, I know i have some fighters that are just better than others. Alfred Posted September 28, 2017 Author Report Share Posted September 28, 2017 Ironman Fight Club Mid Week 5 (Hyashi's Lounge, 27th September 2017) - Post Fight Recap What a massive event for the IFC last night pulling in it's highest rated show so far. Big, big thanks to the fighters involved and putting on a great show. Now, on to the recap. Ironman Fight Club champion Mew Choo successfully defended his belt for a third time against possibly his most dangerous opponent yet in Android Seventeen. Seventeen came into the IFC on a four fight win streak and quickly established himself as the number one contender with a dominant victory over undefeated Tommy Walcott. The fight didn't make it past the first round but was pretty even all the way through. Both fighters landed a couple of heavy shots and left a permanent mark on the other. The fight ended when Seventeen made the possibly questionable decision to take the fight to the ground with a nice double leg takedown and ending up in the champions guard. From there Mew Chow was able to show why he is such a dangerous fighter in any position and quickly threw up his legs sinking in a tight triangle submission at 3:55 of Round 1. At 19 years of age, Seventeen is the youngest challenger so far and still has a long career ahead of him. We have no doubt he will bounce back from this defeat. As for the champion, Mew Choo remains undefeated after 8 professional fights and awaits his next challenge. In the Co-Main event of the evening, Brooklyn Brawler won a dominant decision victory over former Empire Grind middleweight champion Don Joe and really proved his potential as a championship contender. Both fighters were very evenly matched coming into this bout and although Brawler was unable to finish Joe, he certainly tested his granite chin over the course of the fight and really put on a clinic in the clinch. Brawler now moves into the #2 ranking with a possible showdown with "Big" Steve Butabi to decide who fights for belt next. Delwyn Baines had an impressive performance over Ken Shamrock winning by TKO at 0:32 of Round 2 and earning KO of the Night honours. The win also puts Baines back into the top 10 after previously dropping out following a run of bad results. Greg Bell also snapped his four fight losing streak with a very entertaining submission win over Lenny Manelito. The win takes Bell to 4-6 overall and earned him Submission of the Night. Lastly news from the New Blood division with some impressive debuts. Hank "Hill" Jones looked impressive tonight with a TKO win over fellow debutant Eobard Thawne and Ivashin Dmitrievich also made a successful start to his MMA career with a TKO victory over One Fortytwo. SixFootPenguin Posted September 29, 2017 Report Share Posted September 29, 2017 IFC XVIII (New Blood Round 2) fight preview Sept. 30 2017 Tournament Prelude With the second round of the New Blood Tournament to crown the first New Blood champion underway, there is something to note about the tournament. Of the 8 participants left, their are 7 countries still left represented in the second round and with one of the match ups being Usa vs Usa, it is guaranteed to have 4 semi finalists from different parts of the world. The 7 countries fighters in the tournament are from: Usa, Brazil, Ireland, Norway, United Kingdom, Philippines, and China. Of the starting 16 participants we saw a total of 12 different countries, so we started with a very diverse group and it will be interesting to see which countries are represented in the finals. Match 1- Sirimongkol Niyotrong (0-2, 152lbs) vs Kyle "Animal" Ryan (0-1, 223lbs) What better way to start off the card for New Blood Round 2 than a New Blood match up though this is not a tournament match. Kyle "Animal" Ryan lost his round 1 match in what some consider an upset in a close decision to Fay Gott. Kyle Ryan is a boxer with a little bit of skills in the other disciplines while Sirimongkol is mix of everything but bjj. They are both 19 in the 18/19 y/o division and for one of them will be their first MMA victory. Kyle Ryan is the much bigger opponent and will be trying to win with some powerful boxing, though he did just lose to a smaller mt fighter in his last fight. Sirimongkol Niyotrong has not been impressive at all in his first two fights and you cant really blame it on experience as he lost to a 17 y/o. With plenty of time left in his career he can turn around his career before he moves up to the main division but no one wants to start their MMA career 0-3. Many believe that Kyle Ryan will easily win this fight however in the last month of IFC if you have learned anything from recent past events, anything can happen and some crazy results have been coming about that made many people rip up their betting slips. Match 2- "The Monster Of Montmarte" Thierry Paulin (0-1, 240lbs) vs Kenny "The Follower" Tchusuk (0-1, 265lbs) Both fighters fought bravely in the first round of the New Blood Tournament, however they both lost to ground fighters and will be trying to make a rebound after being eliminated from the tournament. Kenny Tchusuk has both boxing and mt skills but no wrestling, where Thierry Paulin primarily has both mt and wrestling. I expect that Paulin may want to go into the clinch in this fight and having an experienced manager to help guide him helps out a bunch too. Kenny Tchusuk's granite chin will once again be put to the test though in his last fight it failed him, getting knocked out during gnp in round 1. Thierry Paulin is a very determined fighter but that did not help him either in his last fight after being put to the mat and eventually being tapped out after fighting it off for as long as he could. With many guys getting signed to the New Blood division, no one wants to lose their first two matches and fall very behind at beginning of this division being born. We are up to an outstanding 31 18/19 year olds in the division and it could be very easy to fall behind especially when some are getting signed with some hype even greater than the most hyped person in the title tournament, who is Jack Dawson. Match 3- Craig "The Reborn" Marduk (1-0, 225lbs) vs Xing "Rufus" Pugberg (1-0, 130lbs) This will be the first match of the New Blood Round 2 of the night. This is also the round 2 match with the biggest weight difference as Xing Pugberg is the lightest person in the whole tournament being a natural Battamweight. Craig Marduk has gone through a strange set of circumstances in this tournament where his manager lost his right to manage him (lost vip) and is now being managed by someone else. With that being said Craig Marduk dominated his wrestler opponent in round 1 by ko in a mere 23 seconds. We do not know how having a new manager will effect his progress in this tournament but he has a chance if he can get his hands on the much smaller Xing Pugberg fast enough, that he can repeat his round 1 performance. Xing Pugberg is managed by the same camp as current undisputed IFC champion Mew Choo and did show in his round 1 fight that he can take a couple punches from a stand up fighter however last time he was still technically fighting in his own weight class. Xing Pugberg was able to get the submission of night during round 1 of the tournament and is a very good wrestler. Though Craig Marduk was able to stuff a takedown from a good wrestler last round even with no much wrestling, i dont expect him to be able to defend well against the fast takedowns of Xing Pugberg. This is not the only round 2 match up that will be like this but it is a test of can Craig Marduk get the ko before the takedown because if he does get taken down it is most likely over. Match 4- Bartholomaus "Jager" Wolff (2-0, 255lbs) vs Sergio Braga (0-1, 280lbs) Most people would consider this a huge mismatch however the one thing Sergio Braga is noticably better at is BJJ as he is a brown belt to the blue belt of Bartholomaus "Jager" Wolff. The thing is for Sergio to utilize his brown belt, he has to actually get the fight to the ground, however Wolff should have enough wrestling skill to keep this standing where he might have the best stand up skills in all of IFC being both a superb boxer and still exceptional skill in mt. Most fighters that I know are afraid of him and with good reason as he is the scariest young prospect we have and I often wonder who can possibly stop him. Wolff has two ko victories in the first round and while i do expect that to again be the result, strange or surprising things have happened lately and if Braga can somehow knock down Wolff than he might have a chance to get the biggest upset that i can think of lately in the main division. Match 5- Dirty WhiteBoy (2-2, 196lbs) vs Dieter "The Sheep" Schaafs (2-1, 190lbs) This is an interesting match up between two debuting fighters, both which reports say that they have a big heart and are determined fighters. The only other similarity between the two is they both went 2-0 in qfc than joined orgs and lost than ended up coming here. With them both being in the same weight class and having the same reported hiddens or whatever you would want to call them, we dont really know what to expect besides the obvious. Dieter Schaafs will be trying to use his excellent mt while using his wrestling to prevent this fight from going to the ground. Dirty WhiteBoy has similar wrestling on paper however he will be wanting to use his wrestling to get this fight to the ground so that he can use his bjj brown belt to his heavy advantage. I have no guess as to what will happen here because on paper it seems even so its going to come down to strategy and things that we would not be able to guess easily like speed and strength. Match 6- Terje "Nightmare" Warholm (1-1, 221lbs) vs Micky Kirby (1-0, 230lbs) This is the second match of the night for the New Blood Tournament round 2. Micky Kirby is a wrestler that is different from the other wrestlers in the tournament. While round 1 we saw the other wrestlers going for a submission, Micky Kirby is the largest wrestler in the tournament and was able to score a ko victory from gnp in less than two minutes. Terje Warholm was one of two people in this tournament to enter with a 0-1 record and able to win the first round. Terje Warholm is reported to have good kicks as well as clearly being able to do well in some match ups in the clinch as he primarily beat The Shadow round 1 in the clinch. It is scary to note that Warholm has lost his debut into IFC with a submission loss to white belt bjj Ken Shamrock but it is to say that Ken Shamrock while having no ground skills was the more experienced older fighter and now Warholm is fighting on a more even playing field. Speaking of white belts, Micky Kirby is the only ground fighter that chose to not train in BJJ though it might be a non factor in this particular match as Terje is also a white belt bjj. We have had a couple fighters turn 19 since round 1 and Terje is one of them, being a little older and training in MMA a little longer gives him a bit of an advantage going into this round. Of the 3 match ups in the New Blood round 2 that are wrestler vs striker, it is of note that Terje Warholm has the highest wrestling of the strikers and may be the hardest one to take to the ground. Terje Warholm seems to be the favorite in this match up however we can not count out Micky Kirby quite yet after his very dominate performance on the ground showing he has to be the best ground and pounder of this tournament. Match 7- Terry Crew (1-0, 200lbs) vs Jonathan "Money Shot" Davis (3-1, 142lbs) Pretty much everyone agrees that no matter what this will be a 1 round fight in the New Blood Tournament. With Jonathan being the oldest and having trained in MMA the longest, many people agree that he should be able to take out Terry Crew within a single minute. Terry Crew knows this too though and is very open about how he feels about this match up. He believes that he will have less than a minute to get a takedown or he will be getting knocked senseless by the much smaller much stronger Jonathan Davis. Here is where is gets interesting though because a lot of MMA can happen within a minute of fight time. Clearly Terry Crew has been noticably working on his wrestling as he knows how important it will be to use his wrestling to his advantage right away. Some expected Davis to train on some wrestling as well for a defense against the one way he will lose this fight however it seems that he went with the strategy of increasing his stand up farther in hopes that Terry Crew just cant last long enough for it to matter. Not only was Terry Crew the only fighter in this tournament with a report of having good takedowns rather than just good wrestling, but he also has the distinct advantage of being the only purple belt bjj to start this tournament. With the winner of this fight fighting the winner of Terje Warholm vs Micky Kirby two white belts in bjj, if Terry Crew can withstand the storm we expect to be Jonathan Davis, than he will have a great chance to advance in this tournament but many believe that this fight is going to be a two hit ko fight at the beginning of round 1 just because Terry Crew has just not had enough time to train to be anywhere near the psyichal peak that Jonathan Davis will be in and that Jonathan Davis will be just too strong. Match 8- Rampai Lawang (2-0, 160lbs) vs Andy Bogard (4-2, 150lbs) Andy Bogard has now won 4 straight even though 3 of those have been by decision and he is tied for the most decision wins in IFC. Even though wins are wins no matter what they are, he has not been completely impressive fight in his fights. Rampai Lawang is debuting in IFC with a MMA record of 2-0, haling all the way from Indonesia. Lawang is known for his big heart and excellent mt skills and should be a very tough test for Andy Bogard. Andy Bogard is known for being powerful and a bjj brown belt as the one win he was able to finish was by submission. Andy Bogard does not have much wrestling skill but if he is able to get Lawang to the ground he might be able to find some good success, however I have Rampai taking this match in my prediction. Anything can happen in a debut since you never know if your going to be fighting harder opponents in the new org you join. This is a big fight for both fighters and everyone should be keeping a close eye on this fight as these two youngsters will eventually get to as much experience as some of the veterans in IFC than you never know how scary of a fighter someone might be. Match 9 (Co-Main Event)- "The Hunk" Jack Dawson (3-0, 270lbs) vs Fay Gott (1-1, 190lbs) The fourth and last match of the New Blood Division, thanks to the high hype of Jack Dawson is the Co-main Event of the evening. Many believe that this will be the true finals of the tournament and whoever wins this match will win the whole tournament. Fay Gott definately has the hardest road to the finals as he already had to beat a favorite Kyle Ryan in the first round which came down to a decision. No one came to this tournament with more hype/self confidence than Jack Dawson. Jack Dawson even holds a less than 1 minute victory over 26 y/o Dave Brooksbank who is currently close to the top 10 in the main division which many believe to be a fluke but it does make Jack Dawson look good. Not only is Jack Dawson the heaviest person in the tournament, he is known for wanting to control the fight in the clinch and unleashing dangerous knees. Fay Gott tried many times in his round 1 fight to clinch Kyle Ryan and it would be a very bad idea in this match up. However Fay Gott has a couple things going for him as he is known for his granite chin that he will need to try to weather the storm, though there is one more advantage he has if you look close enough. Jack Dawson can punch with you but does not having any boxing skill while Fay Gott has a decent advantage in Boxing if he can defend against getting into the clinch. Both have excellent MT and we do expect this to be a great fight that could go either way. Match 10 (Main Event)- (7) Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes (7-3, 264lbs) vs (6) Wolfgang Lee Roth (4-1, 154lbs) Former IFC champion Ricky Hughes has now lost two in a row after starting off with such a big impact being IFC's very first champion. He is still one of the most popular fighters in IFC and at the very least now he is being put up against others as a test to see if they belong at the top which in his last fight proved that "Big" Steve Butabi did belong at the top of the division after knocking out Ricky Hughes in the first round. It has been a little over a month since we last saw Wolfgang Lee Roth but he comes back better than ever to try to take on bigger competition. Wolfgang Lee Roth has clearly been working on his wrestling as he is a brown belt with 3 submission so it helps what he has been known for so far a lot. Especially in this match up where I just dont think that the much smaller Wolfgang Lee Roth would be able to stand up well with a finisher like Ricky Hughes. This is definately going to be the biggest match up so far for Wolfgang Lee Roth as a win here will prove that his extra training was worth it and that he does indeed belong on top of a rapidly growing division. The last time that Wolfgang fought was the same night that Brooklyn Brawler debuted and he on Wednesday just had his 4th ifc match and is now signed for a #1 contendership match so the division is moving quickly as some try to take time out to train to be the best. Even though Ricky Hughes is the more popular fighter as of right now, I feel like this is a much more must win for him as losing three in a row right now will completely deflate his momentum in the top 10 of the division.
