Claymore Elite Combat - Smack Talk Thread

Just got done talking with Mikey McQue and he's informed me of how embarrassed he was about his MMA debut and has guaranteed he'll be knocking out Koistinen this weekend at CEC 3rd strike. He's promised to put on a show for the fans saying he'd like to stand and bang with this guy but doesn't mind if it goes to the ground because he believes his jiu jitsu skills can overcome Koistinen's wrestling ability.

Also caught up with another one of my guys Ulrich McHaggis who recently signed on with CEC after Combat Pro Europe went under and can't wait to fight under the CEC banner. He's riding a 2 fight win streak both coming via submission. By the time of the fight he hopes to gain his purple belt and wants to capture the vacant LHW belt.

at CEC:3 mauricio silva will claim his rightful place as number one fighter in this organisation!

Vladimir Janakoff's reply:

"Oh my god! I didn't know the number one spot in the 155 lbs. division was supposed to go to mr. Silva. I'm terribly sorry i almost broke his arm. Time will heal the wounds and i suggest he wins couple of fights and then comes in the cage with me again. Maybe next time he'll get lucky."

Ronald McDonald is going to be champ in 185! so don't even think about taking my belt :training2:

That's quite rich considering Ronald is not even in the organisation p4p top-20. The only real competition for Janne Salamirinta is Vihainen Thaikku and "Ottako Tuline" is already itching to use his superiour BJJ to take that W back to Hervanta.

Seems like Yrjö just came from Janne's hindsight to make a statement that he isn't afraid of no mans BJJ and decided to "Otta Tulinen".

McHaggis is now ranked #1 at 205 in CEC and will be watching the 205lb title fight at CEC 12 and is prepared to step into the cage after the fight to publicly challenge the newly crowned champion.

Yes, Salamirinta's only weakness is probably losing an unentertaining match where the opponent is content of laying and praying on top for three rounds while the crowd boos. Yrjö did win, no question about that and showed he can certainly control his way into victory but can he take it of his own accord? Salamirinta likes to finish fights.

Unfortunately Salamirinta's BJJ was a belt higher so it was difficult for Yrjö to finish him on the ground, but at least Yrjö made 5 times the effort to finish the fight on the ground than he did (15 sub attempts against 3). Both fighters have finished 50% of the fights they have fought, so maybe it was Salamirinta's lack of ability and/or confidence on the ground together with Yrjö's inability to choke Salamirinta out that made the crowd go bored? They didn't even get to see a good scramble. Notably on standup both fighters were lacking, but yet again Yrjö landed that one knee in the clinch which Salamirinta couldn't replicate either in clinch or on the outside as Yrjö nullified his strikes.

Of course Yrjö isn't happy about the crowd not being pleased, but sometimes styles cancel each other out and the most active participant wins. Surely Salamirinta remembers that from the decision win against Harry Callahan, where he failed to finish the fight against a blue belt with only one attempt in submitting him? Maybe his brown belt is just for a show on the offensive, who knows? ;)

Press conference:

Critique is where critique is due; Yrjö was an absolute disappointment (mostly because I forgot to change the sliders). He dominated the match to the ground, but his will to finish the match was an utter piece of garbage. He got the win yes, but in a style that made even me, his manager, puke. I'm preparing to send him to a camp where they shall will him into a finisher, because I know he has the skillsets for it. On side note, a pleasant win by Potteri today. He continues to impress me, even though I have taken serious thoughts into sacking him. At the gym his motivation to work is absolutely terrible (slow learner), but in the cage he starts to weave his magic. I don't actually know what to do with him, hopefully I'll get to push him into working harder and turning him into a real wizard.

Viiksi Tolonen had this to say about the jaw-dropping TKO against Hernandez Escado, which bruised up his right hand:

"It went down pretty much as I expected, with a hail of fire. The moves felt more natural to me than in the last match against Speedos and I really like to thank my striking coach Jean Barrett from the Gentlemen's Club for that. I'll continue to develop my striking with him for the weeks to come so I'll be prepared for the next big challenge. It'll be bone shattering."

Ulrich McHaggis had this to say about his title fight

"First off hats off to Magni, he was clearly the better fighter tonight and it showed. Secondly I want to apologize to Magni and the fans of CEC, I went in to the fight with the wrong game plan. I knew he had better striking than I did so I wanted to take him down from the clinch where I thought I was better but the nerves of a title fight I think got to me and I didn't engage enough. That's not an excuse and I'm not saying I would have won had I gone in with a different game plan, I just think the fight could have been better and gained some hype for CEC. I've already booked my next fight and I assure you it won't go the distance."

Kimmo Kivipaa is very confident about his first title defence in the 155lb division. This is what he had to say:

"Slim Shadie is looking to get this fight to the ground, but he will fail. I will not be taken down. This is going to be a standup match and I will knock him out in the first round. Don't blink."

Congrats Kimmo. Always nice to get that first defence out the way.

Well the contract of Risto "Pasuuna" Korpisuo has ended. Knowing that Risto had not performed as well as he could have we decided to put on a show in the last fight and we did it.

The future of Risto is still unclear. He will keep competing, but now we are looking to see what kind of contracts are offered. In the case of not recieving contract offer from CEC we really want to thank CEC for the chance they gave Risto.

Thank you and possibly good bye for now.

After fight interview of CEC's new Light Heavyweight champ Tommi Hartola.

Congrats, Tommi.

Thank you. First of all I'd like to state that Viiksi Tolonen is a classy fellow and I hope that I can be even half the champ he has been. I'd also like to thank Gus Malcolm and his org for making this match come true.

Any thoughts of the fight you'd like to share with us? Did the fight go as you expected it would?

Uh, let me gather my thoughts for a sec here... I am still bit shocked for dethroning the champ. Umm... Yeah, I guess the match went out pretty much like we expected it'd go. Except I was bit shell shocked at first, when Viiksi stormed in like a bat out of hell. I mean I've watched each and every one of his matches at least three times and Alexander [Maynard] said he'd punch me in the face if I tried to talk any more about his match with Viiksi. Yet it was still a sobering experience to stand and strike with the legend himself. The way how Viiksi just viciously darts in and starts pounding your face to bloody pulp and kicking your ankles to bits 5 minutes a time, without missing a beat is something you have to experience before you can truly understand it, the pace he sets is just brutal.

My tactic was simply to weather the early storm and start picking him apart as soon as a suitable opening showed up. Thankfully I had an excellent camp to prepare me to the fight. While Viiksi kicks hard as hell, Kaarlo [Vihtala] kicks even harder. Kaarlo, if you are listening, let me state it one more time: In sparring you don't get extra points for crippling the other guy!

In the end of the second round I was grinning like an idiot, when it occured to me that the whole situation where I was walking in to torrent of strikes just to land a few of my own in return just seemed like a damned Rocky movie with a bunch of painful leg kicks added in. Thankfully Viiksi started to slow down in the start of the third and I was able to set the pace from there forward.

Any future plans?

Since both of us will be walking with a limp for the next weeks, I've already challenged Viiksi to a post-fight wheelchair race.

Thank you, Tommi.

WOW! What a fight and what effort put in by both men. The legend that is Viiksi Tolonen has been dethroned, in one weightclass anyway! What a comeback by Tommi, I thought Viiksi was completely blowing away yet another challenger but a fantastic turnaround. Congratulations Tommi, no doubt we will find a willing challenger very soon :boxing:

Claymore Elite Combat just got a little bit more interesting. :mf_popcorn1:

Ok so here is a chance for any one of you to call out one of my guys. The following 10 guys will appear on 1 card but I will not be the matchmaker, it will be you. Do you think you have a fighter that has what it takes to beat mine? Then go ahead and issue the challenge, I wont turn you down, I have full faith in my fighters. If more than one person calls out my guy then the most logical option will be chosen using hype+pop and also p4p ranking, I promise you I will not take the fight I see as the easiest. Ok so the fighters are:

145lbs

Tommy McCall

155lbs

Dave Lee Vs Mark Worsely

Bobby Bruce Vs Joao Goulart

170lbs

Cris Carter

Tonto MacTavish Vs Yrjo Puska

185lbs

Jeff Ramrod Vs Harry Stroker

Rik McRae Vs Blake Edwards

205lbs

Ash Berry

265lbs

Vinnie Collins Vs Optimus Prime

265+lbs

Charlie McGregor Vs Bob Burnquist

Any questions you have just ask, otherwise issue your challenge guys :medieval:
