HIGHLAND GAMES 23 REVIEW

On December 3rd, Hayashi’s Lounge was host to some of the best up and coming contenders that The Island has to offer. In the main event, Rodrigo Rojas put his title on the line against rising star Rice Aroni in a clash that guaranteed fireworks.

Robert Cierzniak (0-4) Vs Rock Sampson (0-5) – Heavyweight
This match was certainly a loser leaves town situation. Both fighters have had terrible starts to their mixed martial arts careers, and this was an opportunity for one of them to keep their name aligned with the greatest promotion on The Island. Sampson came into the fight clearly out of shape. Rock’s 0-5 start to his career has shown that he is capable of going the distance, doing so on 3 of his 5 outings. In this fight, Cierzniak had no plans to let there be a fourth. In just 26 seconds, Robert got his first professional win by knockout after a big straight punch landed. This ensures that Cierzniak will continue to fight on in Highland Games while Rock Sampson has been released from his contract. Sampson was stopped by Mirco Rodic at Highland Games 2 and went the distance with Barol Kedorf at number 7.

Billy The Kid (0-2) Vs Kaiea Keona (0-1) – Heavyweight
Both of these men have tasted defeat in Highland Games previously. Billy was stopped by Jax Dax in his debut in just 2 minutes 11 seconds, while Keona fairled slightly better against Nashik Adwadi, but still didn’t make it out of the first round. A loss for either fighter in this one would set the man on the chopping block, and unfortunately for Keona, he was the one who got defeated. Essentially, Billy as better in every area in this one. He took the fight to the clinch, pulled guard, reversed positions and landed more damage overall. In the second round, Kid rocked Kaiea hard with a left hook before finishing him off with a combination.

Marius Wieneke (2-0) Vs Jamie Sanchez (1-1) – Heavyweight
When these two first collided, Sanchez went for a takedown and was caught instantly in a triangle choke. It was unfortunate and didn’t really tell the full story of the fight. Unfortunately for Jamie, it happened again. This time it was Wieneke who shot first, instantly gaining top position. Sanchez managed to roll through a butterfly guard and get half guard, but he was quickly caught in a guillotine choke and tapped out by Marius Wieneke for the second time in a row. With the win now definitive for Marius, he can move on with a solid 3-0 record to bigger competitors within the division.

Quar Fang (1-2) Vs Michael Kamara (1-2) – Heavyweight
Quar Fang has been plagued by cuts early in his career, suffering from nasty lacerations at the hands of Benny Askren and Andrya Iganatov. After a lot of recover, he made his debut last night against Michael Kamara who is 1-1 since joining Highland Games. The fight was really a one sided beating, with the victor emerging as Quar Fang. The Fijian fighter slips a lot of Kamara’s shots, landing an impressive range of kickboxing techniques, all the while avoiding every takedown attempt his opponent threw at him. Fang will be delighted to even up his record and start turning his career back around now that his cuts have healed up. Droping to 0-2 in his last two fights, Michael Kamara will be desperate for a win to keep himself signed with the promotion in his next fight.

Kip Ruell (1-2) Vs Tukunbo Awimowe (1-1) – Bantamweight
The small guys collided in this affair in which Awimowe wanted to capitalize on his Highland Games 10 win over Yuri Zunnecov. Unfortunately for Yuri, it was not to be. Ruell showcased some highly impressive boxing skills, flooring his opponent twice before eventually landing a hellacious uppercut which earned him $3000 for a post fight bonus.

Evan Banks (1-0) Vs Banger Osbourne (1-1) – Heavyweight
Two heavyweights making their debut here, and we say a great fight all round. Osbourne started the contest with a huge takedown which say him gain side control. The crowd jeered Banger as he was content to control the position, as Banks frantically attempted to get himself to full guard. The round ended and it was clear than Osbourne had done enough to take it. The bell went and once again Osbourne instantly shot in, this time getting half guard. The first round was not replicated however, as Evan Banks managed to slip out the back door, taking Osbourne’s back in the process. The fans cheered as Banks got in the hooks and quickly choked his opponent out with the rear naked. Moving to 2-0, Evan Banks looked impressive in his second fight, picking up submission of the night on his way.

Mateusz Puszke (1-2) Vs Jason Newstead (2-3) – Heavyweight
Jason Newstead is one of the few Highland Games competitors still around who competed on the first ever card. Newstead was 1-1 coming off a knockout victory, but was stopped by fan favourite Eddie Kilpatrick as a result of a cut he received by ground and pound. A cut also halted Newstead in his pro debut. Despite this, Newstead bounced back to knockout Unit Seven in just 9 seconds, allowing him a clash with rising contender Chikere Morce. This was an outstanding fight where both men were rocked very early. Unfortunately for Newstead, if was Morce who capitalized, stopping him in the last seconds of the opener. Puszke looked solid in his Highland Games debut, dominating in the clinch, but was outworked at his own game by Pedro Lazaro when he next fought. Both fighters were looking to get back on winning ways here, but I think if we look on paper, this was always bound to end the way it did. Puszke got the clinch quite early, and Newstead’s never ending susceptibility to cuts say him opened up badly once again. He didn’t quit though, and Newstead landed a huge shot which rocked Mateusz badly. The fight looked to be going in Jason’s favour, but in the last round, despite Newstead dominating the first two and rocking his opponent in the last, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight due to the severity of Jason’s cut. The fans booed as just 90 seconds are all that stood between Newstead and victory, and this defeat will be a bitter pill to swallow for the now 2-4 competitor.

Stefan Struve (3-0) Vs Mase Force (4-1) – Heavyweight
I have been trying to get Mase Force in Highland Games for a while. He holds wins over 4 current or former Highland Games fighters, all on the independent circuit. In October, at UltimateXC’s War Wednesday card, he went the distance with top heavyweight fighter Andrei Alexeyev.
Going somewhat under the radar has been Stefan Struve. Struve has went 3-0 before this fight, including a win over experienced scrapper Elias Page.
Mase likes to take the clinch and work over his opponents until the final bell. He went for this strategy against Struve, but his predictability left him venerable. The clinch fighter was seeking for his favourite position, but left himself opened to a shot and was taken down. From there, it was only a matter of time before Struve, the BJJ brown belt, took another opponent’s scalp on his way to a 4th straight submission victory.

Jonah Sorentino (8-3) Vs Patrick O Riley (3-1) – Middleweight
Sorentino is one of the Island’s most experienced fighters and has fought in UltimateXC and Attack previous to joining Highland Games. His loses have come to both the middleweight champion, Massimo Benvenuti and the number one contender, Massimo Paterno, as well as a flesh knockout loss to fellow veteran Ben Pulse. Outside of these, Jonah went into this fight with 8 wins to his opponents 3, a considerable confidence boost. Jonah also owns a over fellow Middleweight contender Razor MuayThai.
O Riley has mixed it up with some decent opponenets too, with his Highland Games debut being a loss to former UltimateXC Middleweight kingpin Grant Morrison.
The experience was looking good for Sorentino early as he countered his opponent’s combinations with ease. A bit of fear came about when O Riley managed to take the fight to the ground, but Jonah avoided his opponent’s ground and pound and managed to force a referee stand up. From there, O Riley didn’t have much left. He got caught with a left and then an uppercut, leading to O Riley being flat out on his back unconscious.
With 9 victories behind him now, Sorentino will be chasing his opportunity to avenge one of his losses against one of the Massimos, preferably for him whoever is the champion.

Rice Aroni (4-0) Vs Rodrigo Rojas (5-0) – Light Heavyweight
This was a huge fight. The Light Heavyweight Title on the line between two top unbeaten competitors.
First the challenger. Straight off of his amateur career, Rice Aroni joined Highland Games and made his mixed martial arts debut against Vlad Drago at Highlnd Games 4. He won at 1:56 of the first round by TKO. His next three fights were surprisingly finished at 1:44 of the first round, all again by TKO. The keys to success for Rice Aroni thus far have been his ability to keep the fight standing where he can use his boxing and devastating knockout power to tilt the tide in his favour.
Rodrigo Rojas couldn’t be more on the opposite end of the scale. The BJJ Pruple Belt earned 3 submission victories before entering the Highland Games cage at HG 12. In this fight, he entered as the considerable underdog against former UltimateXC top contender Momo La Brute. Utilizing his favourite technique, Rojas secured a clinch and pulled guard. From there, Rojas did what he has always done since making his debut, submitted his opponent with ease. Picking up submission of the night, Rojas again entered as the underdog against knockout expert Eirikur Adalsteinn for the inaugural Highland Games Light Heavyweight Title. It took Rojas just 22 seconds to pull guard and lock in a Triangle Armbar which had Adalsteinn tapping like mad. In fact, coming into this fight, Rojas had only spend roughly 4 minutes in the cage in his 5 fight winning streak. Winning the title was everything for Rojas, and thinking ahead the submission specialist was calling out current middleweight champion Massimo Benvenuti for a champion vs champion superfight.
In the fight, Rojas managed to get the clinch very quickly. It looked like it would be a repeat performance once again, but Aroni managed to break the clinch and get out of danger. From her, Rice Aroni was tuning the champ up with intelligent boxing. Just after the first minute, Rojas was floored by a huge combo and hurt badly. Aroni stood back, signally for Rojas to get back to his feet, and then went straight in for the kill again. It was at 1:27 of the first round when Rice Aroni threw a massive overhand right which knocked Rodrigo Rojas out cold. Rice Aroni has won the Highland Games Light Heavyweight Championship in his 5th professional outing, taking next to no damage in the process.
After this great performance, it’s expected that Rice Aroni will compete on the Highland Games 25 supercard, potentially against the winner of LightHeavy Weight and Wo Fi.
Rodrigo Rojas was highly disappointed about his loss and immediately asked if he could drop to Middleweight from now on. Rojas is likely going to work his way into a title shot as a result of his rivalry with Massimo Benvenuti, but he will have to do some work before he can discuss title shots for now.

The card was great and we got to see some of the rising stars of the Island do their thing. There were some great stoppage wins, some perfect performances mixed in with some tragic defeats. Tune in for Highland Games 24 when Wo Fi and LightHeavy Weight duel it out to make their claim at the 205 title.

Rankings fully updated at long last, review of Highland Games 24 will be up tomorrow night, preview for Highland Games 25 will be in 2 or 3 days.

I cut several fighters at the lower level. It's unfortunate but the important thing is getting fighters out there as much as possible. I'm also not recruiting anyone who doesn't have an impressive QFC record already.

By my maths, we should be able to get everyone fighting once a week or one every two weeks. If we hold 4 events every week, we will be able to get everyone in the org fighting once every two weeks. If we hold an event every day, we will be able to get almost everyone fighting once a week. The profits will drop with the latter but really we have plenty of money to sustain and I'm not running this for profits.

What are your thoughts guys?

Yeah I'm taking injuries and cuts into account. I would have slightly over the amount of fighters but with some guys bound to get cut (both ways) or injured, it should work out. I'm going to go make a few cards in advance now and get some of the guys on them. I'm going to leave a lot of space on the cards though so I can get some bigger names back in action after their fights in the closer cards.

HIGHLAND GAMES 24 REVIEW

Nuno Alvarez Pereira (1-2) Vs David Zawadzki (1-2) – Light Heavyweight
With both fighters going 0-2 since joining Highland Games, this fight was officially declared as a loser leaves town fight.
Nuno Alvarez had barely seen the second round, losing to Bison Bowden and Hanjong Mc Vetrol and demonstrating a very low calibre of striking. Nuno was struggling to get fights to the ground where his submission skills would be displayed, and he was getting battered for his troubles.
Zawadzki had a slightly harder route, losing to Mauricio Santos by submission and top contender Eirikur Adalsteinn by knockout.
In the fight, Zawadzki took the fight down quickly and began working Nuno over with ground and pound. Pereira always wanted this position in his fights, but failed to do much with it. This was until the second round where David was caught sleeping and locked in an armbar until he tapped out.
Nuno Alvarez Pereira Wins by Submission (Armbar) at 0:51 of Round 2.

Bobby Hughes (0-0) Vs Lanch Boyer (1-8) – Lightweight
Making his pro debut, Hughes was said to have knockout power and a good jiu hjitsu game.
After 8 straight losses, Lanch Boyer has proven that he doesn’t take his career serious. None the less, he has been in there with Jay Venturra, Anatoly Petkrovic, Mustafa Shabazz and other notable opponents, so the experience is definitely there.
This experience went for absolutely nothing, because Bobby Hughes walked across the cage and knocked Boyer out in one punch, earning his first win by KO in 5 seconds.
After the fight, Lanch Boyer was released from his contract.
Bobby Hughes Wins by TKO (Strikes) at 0:05 of Round 1.

Einar Enkeltmann (0-0) Vs Mouser TwoPoint0 (0-0) – Lightweight
Another pair of debuting lightweights, we knew this fight would most likely take place on the ground. Both have experience in jiu jitsu, with Enkeltmann being the better on paper with his BJJ brown belt, while Mouser also had decent hands.
Enkeltmann took the fight down instantly and diligently worked for the submission. While Mouser was doing a decent job of defending, in the second round he was unable to fight off a guillotine choke and tapped out.
Einar will now clash with striker Bobby Hughes while Mouser gets a second chance against 1 and 1 African Bhola Djin Djin.
Einar Enkeltmann Wins by Submission (Guillotine) at 4:41 of Round 2.

Winston Graham (0-0) Vs Pablo Aurrelio (1-2) – Middleweight
This pair of fighters are managed by Harriet Marshall, and interestingly enough it was his decision to put these fighters against each other while he was the temporary match maker for Highland Games.
Pablo was coming off a pair of losses to Teddy Dean and Jonah Sorentino, and his gameplan of taking the fight to the ground against the superior grappler was set to be disastrous.
Interestingly, Graham barely went for any submissions, instead controlling the position and finishing the fight in the second round by GnP.
Pablo Aurrelio was released to the independent circuit after his loss.
Winston Graham Wins by TKO (Strikes) at 3:56 of Round 2.

Barol Kedorf (1-2) Vs Unit Seven (1-1) – Heavyweight
Striker Vs Grappler in this one, between two guys desperate for a win.
Barol Kedorf had a weak start to his career, going 0-2 to talented fighter Timi Timi and lower ranked Michael Kamara. He bounced back with a decision victory over Rock Sampson.
Unit Seven debuted in Highland Games with a triangle choke in the first round to beat Robert Cierzniak. He was then stopped in just 9 seconds by Jason Newstead at Highland Games 5, taking some time off before this contest.
For the majority of the fight, Kedorf did a good job of keeping it on the feet. Seven scored just one takedown in 21 attempts, but was fairly active when he got it there. It’s not hard for opponents to predict the gameplan of Barol as he threw 143 head shots in the fight and nothing else. Surprisingly, he was able to land 142 of these head shots, which is a testament to the lack of adaptability on Unit Seven’s part. Also interesting to note that Seven was only rocked once in all of these shots, signalling a lack of knockout power by Kedorf.
Unit Seven left the promotion after the loss.
Barol Kedorf Wins by Unanimous Decision.

Rob Kaman (2-1) Vs Irchie Kast (2-1) – Middleweight
Despite a first round headkick knockout loss to ZyD fighter Wirbel Schwein in his debut, Rob Kaman has bounced back with victories over Highland Games fighters Snafu Mohajib and Jan Eckstroem. In his first HG fight, Kaman secured an early stoppage over Jan, displaying powerful hands and a good clinch.
Irchie Kast first fought for the promotion at Highland Games 7, upsetting 2-0 challenger Raul Targaryen. Previous to this, Kast had lost to top ranked Massa Hurmaaja and defeated previous HG fighter James Figg.
When these two squared off, Kaman did his best impression of other successful Highland Games fighters Barney Gumble, Nelson Frazier Jr and LightHeavy Weight, by quickly securing the clinch and punching his opponent at close range until the fight was over.
Rob Kaman Wins by TKO (Strikes) at 2:55 of Round 1.

Saladin Hussain (5-2) Vs Eddy Dean (3-0) – Middleweight
In his former promotion, Saladin Hussain had challenged Grant Morrisson for the middleweight title after going 4-0 in his professional career. He lost that fight by knockout quickly, and unfortunately his next fight ended even quicker. Ben Pulse knocked Hussain out in just 9 seconds, specifically disappointing considering their previous contest where Saladin won by Americana in under 30 seconds.
Eddy Dean was 3-0 with every fight taking place in Highland Games. Submission victories over CJ Villante and Kevin Steward earned him Submission of the Night, with the later also earning Fight of the Night. As one of the all time leaders in post fight bonuses, and the 3 fight winning streak, a win in this fight would put Dean towards the top of the division.
Unfortunately for Dean, this wasn’t the case. It would appear that Hussain had the better jiu jitsu, and even though both men traded submission attempts several times in the two round fight, it was Hussain who managed to secure the victory by armbar.
Hussain is currently a Free Agent, and for any manager looking for a top contender at Middleweight on the Island, I highly suggest picking this guy up.
Saladin Hussain Wins by Submission (Armbar) at 3:20 of Round 2.

Antonio Gracie (4-0) Vs Shinya Watannabe (3-1) – Middleweight
Speaking of top middleweight free agents, another one is Antonio Gracie. Again, really suggest someone picks him up because he’s a top contender.
Gracie was coming into this fight off the back of two unanimous decisions. A BJJ brown belt, it would seem that Gracie’s style is more suited to improving position and trying to get the mount or the back as opposed to risking his spot for the sake of an armlock or choke.
Shinya Watannabe’s previous fight took place against Antonio’s team mate, Renato Gracie (also a top free agent now). Renato won by armbar late in the third round, a bitter pill to swallow for Shinya considering his previous 3 wins were all by submission himself.
With this fight taking place between two BJJ brown belts, it was always destined to spill on the floor. On paper, it’s not easy to see why the judges gave it to Gracie. He scored 6 takedowns while Watannabe scored 9. Gracie seemed a little bit more effective at passing the guard, but Watannabe was the more active fighter, looking for submissions and trying to improve his position throughout the fight. In the end, two judges gave Gracie the nod while one called it a draw. The fight ended with Antonio Gracie making it 5 straight after a majority decision.
Antonio Gracie Wins by Majority Decision.

Jason Barrett (2-0) Vs Matthew MacDonald (4-1) – Heavyweight
Barrett has looked destructive so far, taking out Zeca Fulero and Murillo Calvacante with expert precision and intimidating power. The heavyweight boxer likes to get the fight at close range, preferably in a clinch. From here, he can unload big dirty boxing which has halted his two previous adversaries.
Matthew MacDonald went 4-1 on the independent circuit before signing for Highland Games. Although his opponent’s level wasn’t great, he finished all four of his first foes with spectacular head kick knock outs. In his 5th contest, MacDonald stepped in as the favourite against 0-0 David Lawman. Unfortunately, the upset came about just after the 1st minute when Dave Lawman stopped MacDonald due to strikes. After the fight, it was announced that Dave Lawman would be joining Highland Games.
With a striking war set, it was time to fight. Early in the fight, MacDonald controlled the range with some kicks while Barrett leaped in with some big head and body hooks. Once again, Barrett got the clinch and essentially the fight was over from then on. He did when he does, landing some huge uppercuts through the middle and MacDonald become the third person to succumb to Barrett’s power.
It’s not expected that Barrett will kick off the Highland Games 25 super show, while MacDonald moves onto face experienced vet Magnus Cross.
Jason Barrett Wins by TKO (Strikes) at 2:26 of Round 1.

LightHeavy Weight (4-1) Vs Wo Fi (5-1) – Light Heavyweight
LightHeavy Weight is a Highland Games original, making his debut as the second preliminary fight at Highland Games 1. Now, LHW is ranked 4th on The Island at his weight class. A dominant 3-0 start to his career saw him earn a number one contender spot against knockout artist Eirikur Adalsteinn. Despite ripping his opponent’s face with nasty shots from the clinch, LHW was unable to get the referee to step in and was stopped by knockout. LHW bounced by with an impressive second round TKO of fellow veteran Joel Nicola, putting himself back in this position for a number 1 contender spot.
Wo Fi, like apparently every top contender, is managed by the kind of the Island ZyD XyD. Despite an early set back to Khaesar Lehm, Wo Fi has been dominant with his stellar kickboxing skills, disposing of 5 opponents inside the scheduled distance. In his last two fights for Highland Games, Wo Fi has defeated rising contenders Hangjong Mc Vetrol and Jaymz Hetfield. The first of those contests was a head kick KO in 4 minutes which earned Wo Fi knockout of the night honours.
In the fight, Wo Fi ws highly impressive in his ability to break the clinch. No one previously has been able to do this to LHW, so it was a big test. Wo Fi also got some of his punches off, edging out the stand up. Unfortunately, LHW was so dilligant is searching for the clinch that he got it on several occasions. He controlled against the cage and landed his patented lethal elbows, eventually causing the referee to stop yet another of his foes due to cuts.
Unfortunately, LHW suffered an injury which means he will be unable to compete on the December 12thsupercard. It is now expected that he will challenge the champion Rice Aroni at Highland Games 27.
LightHeavy Weight Wins by TKO (Cut) at 1:08 of Round 2.

HIGHLAND GAMES 25 PREVIEW

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1418322175thisone.png

December 12th is set to be the biggest night in the history of Highland Games. The Hayashi Lounge will be sold out as 2000 fans scream for the FOUR title fights on offer.

Starting with the prelims:-

Jason Barrett (3-0) Vs Jordan Jack (2-1) – Heavyweight

It has taken little time for knockout specialist Jason Barrett to head back into the cage. After a third straight knockout win, this time over Matthew MacDonald, Barrett is entering the cage just 7 days later on the next card, this time facing a slightly less proven opponent in Jordan Jack.
Barrett’s power in the clinch is almost unrivalled. While he doesn’t possess quite the control of the Barney Gumbles or LightHeavy Weights of the promotion, Barrett has proven to hold some of the most devastating dirty boxing since his debut at HG 7.
The opponent for this fight is underdog Jordan Jack. After an impressive 2 round knockout in his debut, Jordan Jack made his first start for Highland Games by knockout out Mark Nelson, again in the second. At Highland Games 22, the Minneapolis native clashed with Benny skren who has been highly impressive as of late. Jack is capable of landing good shots at range and also has a fantastic wrestling game with vicious ground and pound. If he can avoid the clinch, he has a great chance in this one.

Craig Ekart (4-1) Vs Sindri Haraldsson (4-2) – Bantamweight

These Bantamweight contenders will collide to stand out from the pack and make their case for the 135 title.

Craig Ekart has had experienced some of the top level organisations thus far on The Island. Starting in Chaos, Ekart impressed with 2 stoppages by vicious and effective ground and pound. He would go on to fight future UltimateXC Bantamweight Champion and current AFL Contender Renato Laranja, in a fight he lost by guillotine. Following this defeat, Ekart joined Highland Games, stopping Tedy Watis and Neil Seraphim with his dominant ground game.
The Topeka native, Craig Ekart could make a claim for the title with a win in this fight, earning a 3-0 streak in his current promotion.
Sindri Haraldsson is an Icelandic Islander making his Highland Games debut. After a win in debut over Patick ODochaty in Choas, Haraldson would go 3-2 in AFL, earning Kncokout of the Night after his 44 second destruction over Mitch Mike. Utilizing a strong kickboxing stance is the key to success for Haraldsson, and so far in his career he has showed strong boxing and hard leg kicks to chop his opponents down. A win in this fight will put the Bantamweight division on alert, telling them that Sindri Haraldsson is here for one reason; to hold Highland Games gold.

Scooby Ali (5-1) Vs Jack Stick (6-1) – Lightweight

Moving up to 155, we see a classic striker Vs grappler match up.

Scooby Ali is fighting out of the ever-evolving stable of fighters headed by ZyD XyD. Just one submission loss to Vladimir Bednyakov stains his record, while the rest of his fights have ended in devastating knockout fashion in the very first round. In his last fight, Scooby awared Hideki Higkiko his first professional loss, in an effort that ended Ali knockout of the night. A win for Scooby here would guarantee him a title shot, depending on whether or not Don Killuminati is able to defeat Ali’s teammate Short Fuse.
Speaking of Short Fuse, Jack Stick is bouncing back after a loss to Fuse in his last fight. Stick was able to go 6-0 in his MMA career, defeating Callum McGregor ace Anatoly Petkrovic with an easy first round stoppage. The rivalry is fierce between Jack Stick and ZyD’s camp, as Short Fuse only defeated Stick after an accidentally eye poke. Jack has a point to prove here, and vengeance will be sweat if he is able to get past Scooby Ali and once again establish himself as the best Lightweight fighter on the roster.

Skunk Asap (4-1) Vs Joel Nicola (5-2) – Light Heavyweight

Skunk Asap is making his Highland Games debut after the collapse of UltimateXC. Skunk is the brother of former AFL Welterweight champion Ska Asap, and brings an outstanding striking game to the Light Heavyweight division. In his last outing, Skunk managed to win by knockout in just 32 seconds, perfectly demonstrating how dangerous a striker he is. Skunk’s only professional loss was at the hands of Michael Coleman, who managed to grapple him against the cage to a boring decision victory.
A man no stranger to striking is veteran Highland Games enforcer Joel Nicola. Nicola, another member of the ZyD clan, is 5-2 in his career, with wins over Akau Umaga, Eirikur Adalsteinn, Matheus Dubin and Saintly Fish to name a few. In his 5th Highland Games fight, Nicola was stopped by clinch master LightHeavy Weight. His only other loss comes to 4-0 Jake Theodorou who is also fighting on the card tonight. With two Knockout of the Night bonuses to his name, Nicola is a striker who evokes fear in the hearts of all of his opponents, but has he met his match in this one?

Rodrigo Gracie (6-1) Vs Jake Theodorou (4-0) – Light Heavyweight

I can’t wait for this one. You don’t get many more worthy contender fights than this contest, between absolute superstars at LHW.
Rodrigo is essentially an undefeated fighter. In the independent circuit, Gracie took a decision loss to Canela Elbow in his second fight. Later, after winning his next 3 by submission in the first round, Gracie stopped Cenela with his trademark kimura, wiping the slate clean for him to continue with his career. At Highland Games 21, Gracie proved superior over previously undefeated submission expert Alfonso Bebeto. Perhaps even more impressive, is that Gracie defeated the BJJ Brown Belt by Triangle Armbar in just 1 minute 59 seconds. A win in this fight would put Rodrigo Gracie at 7-1, and it’s hard to argue that he wouldn’t be deserving of a title shot.
Jake Theodorou was the early Highland Games kingpin. Jake went 4-0 in his career, easily dominating Jaymz Hetfield and Joel Nicola in in Highland Games 1 and 4 respectively. Despite being primed for a title shot, Theodorou went MIA and had some stuff to work out in his personal life. Now returning to the cage for the first time since mid-October, Jake plans to pick up right where he left off, in dominant and impressive fashion. Jake has one gameplan, take the fight to the ground and beat his opponent until the referee drags him off. Going up against a submission specialist with the skills of Rodrigo Gracie might see Jake biting off more than he can chew in this one however.

Massa Hurmaaja (6-1) Vs Grant Morrison (7-2) – Middleweight

This is a rematch of their UltimateXC Middleweight title match, in which Grant Morrison was only able to win by cuts. The fight say Massa struggle to get the takedown, while Morrison hurt him badly on the feet early. The blood thickened and eventually the fight was called, and Massa Hurmaaja is not entirely convinced that he deserved to lose the fight.
Massa is 6-1 with notable wins over Jace Phillips, Irchie Kast, Ben Pulse, Piotr Wyspianski and The Fighter. With 3 knockouts, 2 submissions and 1 decision under his belt, it’s evident that Hurmaaja is a well-rounded competitor who is capable of fighting wherever he wants. In this fight, the question is whether or not his striking has improved enough for him to compete with Grant Morrison, and whether or not he will be able to take the fight to the ground.
Grant Morrison is the only UltimateXC Middleweight Champion, holding his title until the end of the organisation’s lifespan. An early career blemish was to Massimo Benvenuti, in which he was knocked out in just 20 seconds. His impressive 5 fight stoppage and win streak, including his title reign, put Grant back in the title picture, this time in Highland Games. His opponent was none of than the 1 on his record, Massimo Benvenuti. After dominating the first round, Morrison was clipped by Benvenuti and rocked. He tried to go toe to toe, but a well timed left hook counter say Massimo walk away with the Highland Games gold while Morrison was once again left to pick up the pieces.
This could easily be a title fight in any organisation, but what’s really interesting is that Massa Hurmaaja has the opportunity to succeed where Morrison failed. He has his shot at redemption, and he vows to take chance and walk away as the victor.

Short Fuse (6-0) Vs Don Killuminati (3-0) – Lightweight

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png

This fight is for the inaugural Highland Games Lightweight Championship.

Short Fuse went 3-0 at Featherweight before earning a Lightweight title shot in UltimateXC. He took full advantage of the opportunity, knockout out 4-0 challenger Arnolf Karstark in just 35 seconds. This victory earned Fuse both Fight of the Night and Knockout of the night honours, but more importantly it earned him his 4th straight victory. Since then, Fuse has maintained a perfect record. He defended his title with a 4th round stoppage in his next outing, and then signed for Highland Games. In this fight, Fuse would fight 6-0 powerhouse Jack Stick in a fight which very well could have been for the Lightweight title. It would take the ZyD fighter just 2 minutes to take the W, impressing everyone and establishing himself as one of the greats at 155 on The Island.
Perhaps the biggest underdog on the card, Don Killuminati is well aware of the challenge he faces on December 25th. Don is also undefeated, and his last two outings have been stoppage victories under the Highland Games banner. Highlighted with an 11 second knockout of Kenichi Mighty, Don Killuminati has made an impact since he joined the promotion. With lethal boxing and a strong clinch game, Don wants to keep every fight standing so he can get the opportunity to land his heavy hands on the adversary’s chin. Don’s goal since joining MMA has to become a champion, and although some might say this opportunity has come slightly prematurely, Don is ready to upset those doubting him and walk away as the new Highland Games Lightweight Champion.

Serge Ibaka (7-0) Vs Frank Pravola (7-1) – Bantamweight

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png

This is the moment everyone has been waiting for, the #1 pound for pound king on The Island is making his Highland Games debut!

Serge is as good as it gets in Bantamweight competition. His 7-0 record is impressive enough alone, but when you consider that some of his victories include names like 6-1 Neil Drake and 6-1 Darth Vader, you gain a lot more respect for this knockout specialist. At the time of his victories, his opponent’s combined record is 31-16, so Serge Ibaka has been in there with some experienced athletes and still hasn’t been challenged in his professional career. His second round knockout of the night over Darth Vader earned “Two Guns” the Attack Fighting League Bantamweight title. He defended the strap in his last outing before cutting ties with the promotion. It is believed that Ibaka felt that the competition wasn’t stiff enough for him, and he wants to prove himself all over The Island, defeating everyone before the end of the season tournament even begins. Now he has joined Highland Games, and with a massive reputation and following, he is looking to show everyone why he deserves every single ounce of the hype he has gained.
Once of the few men with the same experience in the promotion as Serge Ibaka, Frank Pravola comes into this fight as a considerable underdog, but a hungry challenger. With HG knockouts of Chandaka Mahajan and Artem Ikonnikov, Frank is familiar with Highland Games and could be considered to be fighting on home soil in this inaugural 135 title showcase. Fravola’s only professional defeat was in his second fight, when he lost to current top AFL fighter Josh Miller by triangle armbar. Frank would overcome that setback by tearing through the Bantamweight ranks with a 6 fight win streak. Despite this impressive run, Frank has still struggled to get his name out there amongst the top Island contenders. This is perhaps down to the level of competition Frank has faced, but everything will change with a victory over a name like Serge Ibaka and Frank will fire up the P4P rankings and establish himself as a true Bantamweight great.

Massimo Paterno (8-2) Vs Massimo Benvenuti (9-0) - Middleweight

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png

I have never heard the name Massimo before in my life, so the odds of The Island’s two best middleweight fighters being the exact same is an extremely ironic coincidence. What isn’t a coincidence is that these two great warriors are going to clash for the first time in Highland Games.

Massimo Paterno’s start in mixed martial arts didn’t give us the look of a future champion. He went 2-2 in his first four contests, losing by submission to Ron Dirac and knockout by Jermaine Pedigrew. While this didn’t seem impressive, it’s not taking into account that his wins include top unsigned fighter Ben Pulse, who was 0-1 at the time, and highly ranked Highland Games competitor Jonah Sorentino, who was 0-0 at the time but has extended his record to 9-3 since. Despite the set backs, Massimo would destroy every other man who contended against him, submitting every single one of them with a different move every time. At Highland Games 4, Paterno took on undefeated fighter Ramulus Artemis. This co-main event fight say Paterno earn Submission of the Night with a highly rare Brabo Choke which stunned the fans. He would pick up another post fight bonus by beating 4-0 contender George Alvarez Jr, and in his last fight he stopped Matthew Michaels with a guillotine choke. Massimo’s turnaround in his career has been amazing, and his ability to refine his submission skills after the early armbar loss to Ron Dirac has been amazing. When Paterno heard that Benvenuti and Grant Morrisson were going to fight for the title, he was outraged. Paterno had went 2 straight in Highland Games and felt he was the rightful competitor, and most importantly that he was better than the other two fighters. Now, he gets the chance to prove himself.
Defending his Middleweight title for the first time is Massimo Benvenuti. With perhaps the best record on The Island, Massimo B has been defeated elite fighters since debuting inside the cage. In his third professional fight, “The Italian Brawler” beat Grant Morrison by knockout in just 20 seconds. Both men would then be signed by UltimateXC, and despite still being undefeated, Massimo B was passed over for the title shot in favour of the man he had previously defeated; Morrisson. Benvenuti was furious at this, and he couldn’t understand why he wasn’t worthy of the shot. When he signed to Highland Games, Massimo was 6-0 and had just went the distance with Jonah Sorentino. He would fight 4-1 Renato Gracie and won by TKO in the 5th. His next foe was Nestor Shufrich, a 5-0 best who suffered the same fate as Gracie. After these victories, Massimo Benvenuti was given the opportunity to do what he wished he could have done in UltimateXC; fight Grant Morrisson for the title. Benvenuti had done it before, and after missing his shot at the belt in the other organisation, he had the perfect opponent for the perfect fight. It took him just 2 rounds to prove that lighting can strike twice, TKOing Morrison and earning the championship belt.
Which Massimo will reign supreme? Tune in to find out.

Nelson Frazier Jr (5-0) Vs Barney Gumble (7-0) – Heavyweight

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png

I feel like I’ve been writing forever, but all of it was worth it to get to this point. The Heavyweight title is on the line as undefeated clinch masters butt heads, both eager to show that they have the most lethal muay thai in the game.

Big Daddy V is represented by Grant Brophy, a highly experienced manager who recently said goodbye to his original fighter by the same name. Brophy’s retirement has left a hole in his promoter’s heart, and one Nelson Frazier Jr can fill by taking home the 265 title. Nelson won his debut unimpressively by going the distance with a weak fighter named Blaine Baratheon. This unimpressive start to his career didn’t bode well for New Yorker’s future. Joining Highland Games, Frazier put down 1-0 Jonah Takalua inside the opener. He would step up in quality against 3-1 fighter Mitchel Thompson, a boxer who has plenty of experience inside the clinch also. Frazier would trade shots with Thompson at close range, but he proved dominant throughout and managed to get the victory in the final round of the fight. Nelson was looking good, but didn’t look like anything special. He had to beat another top fighter to prove that he was ready to be in championship talks. This came about when he was given the opportunity to fight Keith Harvy. Harvy was 3-0 and had stopped everyone he had faced in the very first round. Harvy would only last 3 minutes inside the cage with Frazier, as Big Daddy V proved to the world that he was the real deal. The only thing standing between Nelson and the opportunity to challenge for the gold was Christian Long. Long has already challenged for the title, losing to Gumble in the first round. Despite this, wins over Alexey Juralev, Diamond Andy and Elias Page, all by knockout, proved that outside of the champion, Long was the best around. At least, this was before the cage door closed. Nelson was going into the fight as the striking underdog, who needed the clinch or else he was done for. He left the fight as an elite striker who outboxed Christian Long and knocked him out with an outstanding superman punch. This knockout of the night victory put the spotlight on Frazier, and now, after 5 straight victories, Nelson Frazier Jr is going to fight for the championship belt in Highland Games and assures everyone that he IS going to become the new kingpin in the company.
When you talk about dominance, when you talk about imposing your gameplan, when you talk about stopping opponents, it gets no better than Barney Gumble. Since joining Highland Games, Gumble has been faced with a murders row of fighters. Diamond Andy, 3-0. Christian Long, 3-0. Thor Heyerdahl, 3-0. Mib Louie, 5-0. Gumble has not only turned these contenders away every single time, but he’s done so by stopping them all in the very first round. How does he do this? He does this by possessing the most deadly and dangerous clinch that The Island has ever seen. Once he gets a hold of you, the fight is essentially over and opponents all but quit once caught in the predicament. If this isn’t impressive enough, Gumble has only actually been hit just 9 times in Highland Games. This is outstanding when you consider that Gumble has hit the target 131 times. This is almost 15 times more than his opponents have landed. That kind of absolute destruction is why Gumble is ranked #2 on The Island, only behind Serge Ibaka, and has been the best heavyweight around since his HG debut. Gumble is also the only man to defend his title thus far in Highland Games, doing so twice, and really it’s hard to see him ever losing going off of his current form.
What’s so exciting about this fight is that Gumble isn’t taking his opponent out of his comfort zone. Nelson Frazier Jr WANTS to clinch with Barney Gumble. He WANTS the fight to take place at close range, and that’s really not something that Barney Gumble has been faced with before. This fight is set to be an absolutely incredible affair, and I suggest everyone on The Island tunes in to see just how good the thai clinch can be when utilized correctly.

Highland Games 25 is set to be The Island’s greatest event to date, and will put Highland Games down in the history books for years to come. 5 titles are on the line, 2 titles will be defended, and 20 of The Island’s greatest fighters will do what they do best. Tune in for a night of absolutely amazing fights.

NELSON FRAZIER JR "BIG DADDY V"

5-0

A tough fight against the champion. I recognise he has the advantage in his boxing, but when it comes to grappling, I have the advantage. Best of luck to my opponent, I look forward to a great War of the Clinch!

HIGHLAND GAMES 26 PREVIEW

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1418322004thispic.png

Matt Downes (2-2) Vs Chiyono Fuji (2-1) – Heavyweight
Two Highland Games 1 originals take to the cage for this opening contest.
Matt Downes debuted for the org with a 1-0 record, a submission victory over for Highland Games attraction Eddie Kilpatrick. A win over journeyman Samuel Jackson set him up for a clash with Thor Heyerdahl. Considering the skills Thor has shown since then, its easy to see that the contest came a little too early for Downes. Another loss to now retired Vincent Cruz put a black mark on the early career of Downes, and now it would seem that a win is necessary for him to continue his Highland Games career.
To be honest, I’m bewildered at how Fuji’s hype hasn’t picked up by now. In all 3 of his contests for the company, Fuji has picked up post-fight bonuses. A record setting 5 second KO, which has since been matched by Bobby Hughes, set the stage for a promising career. A fight of the night scrap with Zeca Fulero ended in another first round victory. The fight earned Fuji a fight with Mib Louie, with potential title implications in the balance. Louie completely outclassed the Japanese fighter, sending him to the canvas 3 times in 2 minutes and bloodying him up so badly that the referee was forced to call it.
The bookies favourite for this fight is Chiyono Fuji with odds sitting at 1.67 to 2.00.

Anatoly Petkrovic (5-1) Vs Hideki Higkiko (4-1) – Lightweight
Petkrovic is a member of HG owner Callum McGregor’s own stable of fighters. The Azerbaijan native has looked impressive thus far in his career, suffering just one defeat at the hands of current number 1 contender Jack Stick in his fifth outing. Despite winning 5 of his 6 contests, Petkrovic has yet to beat the top tier of the division. He will do that when he fights Hideki Higkiko.
Hideki hails from Osaka, Japan, and recently switched his management after his 2 minute knockout loss to Scooby Ali in his last outing. Now under the guise of Joe Kingpin, Hideko looks to increase his record to 5-1 by utilizing his fantastic kicking ability mixed with his stellar takedown defence.
With the grappler challenging the striker here, it’s expected that the winner of this fight will be just one or two more victories short of a title shot, but for the loser, it’s a long descent towards the bottom of the division.
Ryne Woodsmall of New Age Betting has this fight at 1.55 – 2.20 for the Japanese striker.

Piotr Wyspianski (4-1) Vs The Fighter (3-1) – Middleweight
The next preliminary bout pits Highland Games newcomer Piotr Wyspainski against 3-1 jiu jitsu specialist The Fighter.
Both men suffered a loss to Massa Hurmaaja in their last contest, with Pitor suffering a first round submission at AFL 16 while Fighter went the distance at the 18th Highland Games event.
“Wyspa” is a muay thai expert, and he added to his impressive knockout ability with a kneebar submission win over Lister Man on the independent circuit. With his all round game ever improving, Piotr will want a win in this fight so he can prove that Massa is not the be all and end all of his career.
Looking to take the fight to the ground early will be The Fighter. With three straight submission wins to his name, including an impressive kimura debut over Matthew Michaels, Fighter has proven to be a dangerous foe for anyone in the division. Current contender Massa Hurmaaja, who’s coming off a first round submission victory over Grant Morrison, spent nearly 15 minutes on the floor with Fighter and was unable to put him away. Even more impressively was that it looked like Fighter was the better grappler, while Massa was able to be more offensive.
Like the fight before it, this fight is all about Fighter’s ability to take the fight to the ground, otherwise he’ll be in for a rough night against Wyspa.
New Age calls it Piotr Wyspianski – 1.75, The Fighter – 1.89.

Benny Askren (3-1) Vs Keijo Virtanen (3-0) – Heavyweight
Benny Askren is a long time competitor in the Highland Games heavyweight division and is yet another destructive clinch striker that excels inside the cage. With a track record quite similar to the 205 number 1 contender LightHeavy Weight, Askren has stopped all 3 of his victims by cuts as a result of his lethal elbows in the pocket. The only blemish on Asrken’s record was against top competitor Jacek Trzebiatowski where he was taken down and controlled across the distance.
Bringing his slick submission skills to the cage for a second time, Keijo Virtanen is looking to make it 4-0 in this contest on December 14th. The gameplan for Virtanen is simple, drag the fight to the floor and utilize his BJJ Brown Belt to lock on a submission. In his last trip to the cage, Virtanen managed to earn a submission of the night with an armbar victory over Barry Allen.
New Age gives it the same odds as the previous fight, 1.75 for Askren and 1.89 for Virtanen.

Aleksandar Mihaylov (3-0) Vs Razor MuayThai (3-1) – Middleweight
Fighting out of the small Polynesian island of Tavalu, Alexsandar Mihaylov is sure to bring something different to the cage when he makes his debut. With knockout victories in all 3 of his professional contests, it’s not hard to see why he comes into this fight with a lot of hype behind him. Aleksandar’s style is to utilize all aspects of his heavy handed hits, trying to take his opponent’s head off at range or switching it up and moving into some dirty boxing.
Looking to remove Mihaylov from his undefeated streak is Razor MuayThai. This marks his fourth fight in Highland Games after 3 straight first round knockouts. Razor’s MMA debut was against Jonah Sorentino, a current top contender who has proven himself time and time again. Wins over Domingo Rojo, Ramulus Artemis and Jack Sock have put an exclamation mark on the abilities of this muay thai fighter, and a win here puts him one step closer to challenging for the belt.
Alexksandar Mihaylov – 1.90 / Razor MuayThai – 1.74.

Jacek Trzebiatowski (4-1) Vs Ali Mouba (3-0) – Heavyweight
Jacek returns to the cage as one of the top fighters in the org. An early loss to Mib Louie, which Jacek unimpressively tapped out to strikes, made people doubt that he would ever achieve greatness. Bouncing back with wins over Rape Alarm, Benny Askren and Kellen Patrick, Jacek has cemented his abilities and overwritten the L with dominant performances. Jacek could be chasing down a title shot with a victory, or perhaps even more appealing would be the opportunity to even the scorecard against Louie.
His opponent is one of the most hyped fighters ever to step into Highland Games in his debut. Ali Mouba is cocky and confident, but above all he is capable. Knockout out independent vet Avengers Avenge in his debut, Mouba started what would be an impressive run. A decision victory over Fray Bentos, followed by a submission win in the main event of the short lived Island Champions, Mouba knows what it’s like to have the spotlight on him and will look to showcase his wrestling skills to the world against Jacek.
Astonishingly, Jacek Trzebiatowski comes into this fight as the biggest underdog on the card tonight. New Age betting has him 2.60 – 1.40 down, showing the hype Mouba brings into this one.

Pedro Lazaro (4-1) Vs Potter Dunn (5-2) – Heavyweight
Pedro Lazaro has gone from strength since joining Highland Games and improves every time he competes. Starting his career under the Scottish flag, Lazaro took on fellow promotional newcomer Mib Louie. Despite seeming to get the better of the striking exchanges and controlling in the clinch, Lazaro lost after eating a devastating head kick. Rebounding after the defeat with back to back unanimous decision wins over Trunk Slamchest and Mateusz Puszke, the first major challenger since Louie came in the form of Theros Staal. Staal was on a two fight winning, ending both opponents before the end of the first round. Not only did Lazaro defeat Theros Staal, but he knocked him out, picking up Fight of the Night in doing so. Currently ranked 10th on The Island’s HW rankings, a win here over Potter Dunn would definitely put Lazaro into possible contention for the title.
Looking to bring Lazaro’s hype train to a screeching halt is experienced independent fighter Potter Dunn. With all of his professional victories coming by way of submission, it’s very easy to see what the gameplan for Dunn will be when he takes on Pedro. Dunn’s mixed it with some fellow experienced fighters. Dimentio Boychello, Magnus Cross and Gunnar Nelson are just a few of the Island veterans that Dunn has shared the cage with. Despite this, one fight in AFL is the only organisational experience Dunn has faced. With all 6 of his other contests taking place on the independent circuit, it’s time for Dunn to step onto the main stage and show his jiu jitsu skills to the world.
Potter Dunn is expected to be the favourite coming into this contest. 1.61 – 2.08.

Andrya Ignatov (5-1) Vs Chikere Morce (4-1) – Heavyweight
Ignatov comes from a team of greats, with four of his stable mates holding championship belts under the guidance of Eddie Roach. His Island training partner, Andrei Alexeyev, will be looking to add a 5th title to the cabinet when he takes on Barney Gumble for the HG 265 strap at Highland Games 28. Andrya Ignatov feels like that opportunity could have been his. After making it 5 straight with just one fight going past the first round, Andrya made his Highland Games debut against a man who’s name has been repeated several times in this breakdown; Mib Louie. After struggling to secure his trademark clinch, Ignatov fell back on his kickboxing. Despite looking okay, he was in there with a much more talented striker. At 1:59 of the first round, Louie launched with a tremendous flying knee which say Ignatov crash to the mat. I know personally that he is furious with the defeat and vows to leave a path of destruction behind him on his road to redemption.
Chikere Morce has proved me wrong since he made his debut. Once dubbed as “the most boring fighter in the promotion”, he has finished his last two opponents. Jason Newstead was stopped by knees in the clinch, and Morce even walked away with a Knockout of the Night bonus with his head kick which dispatched Chris Dotson. The one scar on Morce’s record is to Diamond Andy, who in similar fashion to Ignatov’s sole loss, appeared to be the superior all round striker. This hasn’t held Morce back from proving to the world that he can be an exciting and impressive feature on any card, and if he can make a statement against Ignatov tonight, the elite of the division will most certainly be put on notice.
Morce equals Jacek Yrzebiatowski’s underdog status at 2:60, while Ignatov is tonight’s biggest favourite with an impressive 1.40 on paper.

Ludko Struja (4-1) Vs James Helm (4-1) – Light Heavyweight
Struja is on a title chasing mission in Highland Games after going 4 straight since joining the organisation. A debuting loss to experienced submission machine Arnaldo Guiosa bad been more than made up for with four dominant ground and pound victories. In his last outing, it was the biggest test of Struja’s short career. Momo La Brute started his career with a perfect 5-0 record, and after a 0-2 slip, it seemed like La Brute was ready to destroy the division. In addition, Brute’s only two losses were by submission, something Struja had not really shown in his career. The test didn’t faze Ludko one bit. At 1:30 of the first round, Struja overcame an early cut to bring the fight to the floor. From there, it was simply routine for the Croatian bruiser, securing his fourth straight TKO in the first round in the second minute.
James Helm has flew under the radar so far in the company. An unimpressive start say him with his debut by unanimous decision, then submit under the weight of Eduardo Massa Alacantara’s strikes. Helm considered retirement then and there, but he maintained focus and bounced back with a boxing master class against Yukazi Hirouni. Then, when signed to Highland Games, it was an opportunity for redemption for 26 year old. Taking on Alacantara one more time, James Helm took just 26 seconds to land a hellacious overhand right which send his opponent crashing to the canvas. This was by far the greatest moment of James Helm’s life, and he continued the momentum with a 47 second finish of Huff Tuff. On a three fight win streak, James Helm can put himself right into the elite of the division.
N.A.B. sees this as Helm’s fight, 1.74 to 1.90.

Amine Nesquik (5-1) Vs Alexey Juralev (4-1) – Heavyweight
Nesquik is furious following his loss to Andrei Alexeyev in his last outing. This was all that stood between him and a shot at the gold, and unfortunately, after two rounds of domination, Nesquik was caught sleeping and caught with a gigantic head kick. This was a fighter who was under 2 minutes away from his dream, and instead of was send clambering down the rankings, forced to rebuild the reputation he maintained before entering the contest. Amine comes into fights with devastating knockout power in his hands, and switches between distance fighting and the clinch game in an effort to put a beating on his opponents from anywhere the fight takes place. During his time in UltimateXC, Nesquik picked up two fight of the night titles, in addition to Knockout of the Night in the promotion’s inaugural event. In Highland Games, it was a win over experienced jiu jitsu master Jose Juarez that allowed him to burst on the scene. Still on the cusp of getting a title shot, Nesquik desperately needs a win in this fight to keep his dream of becoming the Highland Games heavyweight champion alive.
Knockout power doesn’t get any more correctly personified than Alexey Juralev. This man has won all of his 4 victories within the very first round, picking up Knockout of the Night in two of them. At Highland Games 2, Juralev suffered a disappointing head kick loss to kickboxing specialist Christian Long. To respond, Juralev would go through fan favourite Eddie Kilpatrick, Jonathan Soto and former main eventer Diamond Andy to establish himself as one of the most powerful hitters that we have seen inside the Highland Games cage. There is no man walking the face of the earth that puts fear into the heart of Alexey Juralev, and he is supremely confident that anyone who has the testicular fortitude to stand across the cage from him will be met with a swift and clean knockout loss on their record. A win in this fight gives Juralev some options. He will be ranked in the top bracket, and be one or two wins shy of a title opportunity. One fight that you can be sure he’ll be eyeing up is a potential clash with the man who previously bested him; Christian Long. Wiping the only black mark off of his record would put Alexey Juralev in a very advantageous position.
Nesquik will be the underdog in this fight, coming in at 2.00 to Juralev’s 1:67.

Jake Theodorou Wins by TKO (Strikes) at 2:24 of Round 2.
Massa Hurmaaja (6-1) Vs Grant Morrison (7-2) – Middleweight
It was a disappointing night for the former UltimateXC Middleweight champion. After his second professional loss to Massimo Benvenuti, this time for the HG 185 belt, Morrison was fighting Massa Hurmaaja for the second time. In their first contest, Morrison defended the takedowns easily to outbox his opponent, forcing the referee to step in due to a cut suffered by the title challenger. In this fight, Massa’s wrestling improvements were evident. He managed to take Morrison down twice early, a big game changer on their original contest. Morrison’s slick grappling game was evident when he swept Massa to gain the top position, but unfortunately he was in the guard of a superior BJJ player and was caught in a triangle choke. It’s a difficult position for Morrison after losing two straight, while Massa Hurmaaja will move on to fight for the Middleweight title.
Massa Hurmaaja Wins by Submission (Triangle Choke) at 3:49 of Round 1.
Don Killuminati (3-0) Vs Short Fuse (6-0) – Lightweight Title
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png
I have to say, what an absolutely spectacular fight this was, highlighting the immense skills contained by both men. Fuse came in as a huge favourite, but Don was on a mission to prove everyone wrong.
In the first two rounds, Killuminati managed to counter Fuse’s shots and edge the rounds. Fuse took some major hits but was still in the fight.
In the third round, it was apparent that Killuminati was slowing down. He had put so much effort into the first two rounds that he was tired out, and Fuse began teeing off. The underdog proved he wasn’t out yet when he landed a hard jab which wobbled Fuse. Don Killuminati was cautious in seeking the knockout, but a quick recovery by Short Fuse allowed the fight to continue. Strangely, two of the judges gave the round to Short Fuse despite him being rocked.
Coming out for the fourth round, Fuse performed spectacularly. He was landing hard body shots and was beating the timing of Killuminati. He took the round comfortably on all 3 cards.
Coming into the final round, the judges seemed to have the fight split, 2 round a piece. The momentum was with Short Fuse, but Killuminati was still in it. Don came back and was crisp with his boxing, landing counters several times. Fuse was pushing the pace and at times being too aggressive for Don to handle. Then, at the end of the third minute, Killuminati came out with a huge combo which send Fuse to the canvas. He returned to his feet quickly, but that was a game changer in the fight. Fuse was super aggressive at the end and Killuminati picked him off, coasting to the final bell.
The scorecards came up.
47:48 – Don Killuminati.
49:46 – Short Fuse.
47:49, and NEW Highland Games Lightweight Champion.
DON KILLUMINATI!
The underdog had completed his task and is now hailed at the champion of the 155 division. HHe will face a difficult challenge in Jack Stick in his next contest, but nothing can brush off the high for Killuminati, especially not since he earned an extra 5 grand for Fight of the Night.
Don Killuminati Wins by Split Decision. NEW LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION
Serge Ibaka (7-0) Vs Frank Pravola (7-1) – Bantamweight Title
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png
This fight went exactly the way pundits expected it to. Ibaka instantly secured the clinch and began putting a beating on the scrappy underdog. Frank stayed in the pocket throw, throwing punches and knees to attempt to match the #1 P4P’s attack, but in the end he had nothing to comtest the favourite’s arsenal and Ibaka got a quick finish to pick himself up the 135 belt. It’s not expected that Ibaka will defend his new crown against Craig Ekart.
Serge Ibaka Wins by TKO (Strikes) at 1:50 of Round 1. NEW BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION
Massimo Benvenuti (9-0) Vs Massimo Paterno (8-2) – Middleweight Title
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png
The two Massimos squared off in a clash which saw Benvenuti make the first defence of his newly won Middleweight Championship.
Benvenuti was teeing off early as the grappler desperately tried to drag the fight to the floor. Paterno’s gameplan was highly predictable, and by failing to set up any of his takedowns with strikes or counters, it resulted in him shooting in time and time again in a relentless and tiring effort which had absolutely no benefits.
Benvenuti was happy with how the fight was going, allowing him to tee off to his opponent’s head and body as he came in. The champ also tried to get some clinch action going but he failed to pin Paterno down to work.
Just after the third minute, Massimo B landed a huge uppercut which saw Paterno hit the floor. Rocked badly, Benvenuti went in for the kill but was unable to defend his belt inside the first round.
The second round played out similarly and it seemed than Benvenuti was upping the ante. Just after the first 60 seconds, Paterno was again dropped, this time with a cut opening up. Paterno stood up and shot in for a takedown but dove straight into an uppercut. As he staggered back, he was caught with a huge flurry of shots and knocked unconscious.
The referee raised Massimo B’s hand as the announcer called “Annnnnnd STILL…!”
Massimo Benvenuti Wins by KO (Strikes) at 1:18 of Round 2. MASSIMO BENVENUTI RETAINS MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Barney Gumble (7-0) Vs Nelson Fraizer Jr (5-0) – Heavyweight Title
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20140926172750titlebelt.png
A collision of clinch catalysts was sure to ensue, and it didn’t disappoint the fans of dirty boxing.
After a brief spat of jabs, it was inevitable that someone would instigate the clinch. It was the champ Barney Gumble that engages, and it seemed as though Nelson allowed him, confident in his clinch striking abilities.
It seemed to be an even exchange at first, but before long it was apparent that Gumble was the more dangerous striker, throwing with much more volume and landing considerably more.
With each passing second, the ending loomed. Frazier was taking far too many shots from someone with the calibre of clinch shots of Gumble, and early in the third minute he was caught by a right hand and stumbled. Another right sent him falling against the cage and Gumble unleashed hell until the referee dragged him off.
With yet another man falling to the pressure of the champ, can anyone stop him? 6-0 Andrei Alexeyev thinks so, and he will attempt to prove his point when the two clash at Highland Games 28.

Well I think I made a statement last night, I'm coming for the title and this is just the begining, Trzebiatowski is a tough fighter I have to admit it I didn't even expected him to go threw the first round, He will come back from this loss. Now it's time for Jason Barett to meat a real fighter, you think you're good because you are knocking out pussies, I will wipe your ass so badly that when I will have the belt you would not even think to claim for it, I have one advice for you : You better be ready on december 24th because I will be !!!

As for Massimo Benevuti, Serge Ibaka, The Tank, Jack Stick and Skunk Asap, I wanna congratulate you for your wins in HG25 it's good to see our work in The GYM pays off, I hope Stickdeath will destroy the currently 155 fake champion on Dec 21th he didn't even know what the word wrestling mean bro. As for you Barney Gumble congratulation for that title defense to, I really respect you, you beat my ass really often in sparring sessions and that is why I'm able to be here right now. But like you know, we are in the same division so when I will be ready it will be an honor to fight you for the belt, until then keep beating everyone asses.

PS: Rice Aroni, And that makes one ;)
