Slice
This is always an interesting conversation as I believe FIFA always gets the mainstream vote due to the sheer marketing machine; FUT etc. It is a good deal more realistic in terms of presentation and has more game modes. EA's online servers are also famously brilliant, which helps to drive both FUT and the Online Seasons mode, which is very fun if you're competitive. However; having previously been a PES man; it's good points to me have always been a more strategic type of game play; along with a more meritocratic Career Mode (Master League), and much better AI. The career mode on Pro is like FIFA in that you start with a bigger team you'll have more money. But most of the finances are based in what you win; you get a lot of prize money for competitions; and the bigger your club gets, the more merch you sell etc. I think the big X-factor for PES though is the option files you can download; allowing you to have the fully licensed kits, badges, names etc. In addition to this you can also get Classic Teams downloaded, such as Classic Man Utd and Classic Barcelona. What do we all think?
Deuce7
Having never played PES I'm a bit biased towards FIFA, but I hear good and bad things about both. Personally I play the Pro Clubs online with quite a few of my friends, which is crazy if you can get a full squad of 11 players. For anyone that doesn't know, Pro Clubs is like the Be a Pro, where you play one specific position instead of controlling all players. It's probably the best way and maybe even the only way to have a true football style offensive strategy in FIFA.

Shiv
Tried PES after forever about 2 years ago - and it was back. Way better game of football as soon as they moved to the fox engine. The demo for 2018 is out - try it.

kenlow73
I got both of them a couple of years ago but only have PES now because my nephew borrowed FIFA then packed it in storage when they moved. I like FIFA (at least up until 16 I don't know beyond that) because of the (I guess licensing rights) it actually has the real teams. The only thing I don't like is being able to play sub leagues in other parts of the world but not being able to play as the Rowdies in NASL. Shiv
It takes about 10 minutes to run a file and fix the names on PES (on the PC/PS4) fyi.

Haven't played either for a couple of years though and all things I have heard about PES in recent years has been highly positive
kenlow73
On the topic/off the topic, I wish football/soccer in America was like other countires. We have MLS which is Major League and NASL which is like minor league but they're two different leagues, there isn't a promotion or regelation between the two of them. MLS, NASL and USL. USL has 30 teams that include B Squads for some MLS teams. NASL only has 8. The USL will be adding 5 more teams to its league over the next few years. There is a chance that a relegation system could be on it's way once the current tv contract for MLS runs out (2020 I believe), but it's a long shot based on the current number of teams and the travel expenses that are involved. markyosullivan
Oh man, the new improvements for FIFA which show all the players in the pre match preview / career mode looks great. Been wanting a game to do interviews in cut scenes when negotiating contracts since I played Lets Make A Soccer Team (or something similarly named) when I was like 10 years old. Slice
It's official. FIFA 18 sucks, some really good presentation and new layout in career mode, but terrible keepers and defending. Gamespeed is also too slow, too much time on the ball. PES takes the gameplay this year
