Ironman Fight Club VI (Sat 8th July, The Underground – Los Angeles)

In the main event of the evening the Ironman Fight Club will be crowning its very first Open Weight champion as two undefeated warriors go head to head for the gold.

Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes (25yrs, 264lbs/195cm, 4-0) vs Pol "The Sleeper" Veri (25yrs,180lbs/180cm, 4-0)

Pol “The Sleeper” Veri is a brown belt in BJJ and compliments that well with a proficent wrestling base. He'll be giving up a lot of weight in this title bout but has already proven that size is no issue for his submission game having twice finished 300lb Greg Bell previously. In fact all of Pol's four wins to date have been by submission and he has twice won “Submission of the Night” honours.

His opponent is Ricky “Big Tex” Hughes. Hughes has so far been known for his particular brand of battery winning his first three fights by KO. However in his last outing Big Tex showed that he is a capable tactician when he chose to switch up his game plan and exploit the grappling weakness of then undefeated Pero Kostolomac.

Both fighters are known for finishing their opponents early and neither have gone into the third round. It's likely Veri will be looking to avoid the heavy hands of Hughes and take this fight to the floor. If he can keep it there he has a good chance of pulling off another sub victory but Hughes is not a complete novice is that area either. Big Tex has the more rounded game and arguably possesses more ways to win. The only thing for sure is that someone is going to suffer their first defeat.

Best of luck to both competitors!

Ironman FIght Club VI (8th July 2017) - Post Fight Recap

The Ironman Fight Club witnessed the crowning of it's first champion when undefeated Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes put away fellow undefeated challenger Pol "The Sleeper" Veri in just 14 seconds into the 1st round.

All it took was one mistake from Veri with a sloppy right hand and Hughes seized the opportunity, countering with his own big right that first cut Veri and then battering him, dropping him to the canvas leaving the referee no option but to call the fight.

Ricky Hughes now faces a long line of hungry challengers eager to take that gold belt away from him and Pol Veri faces the possibly long climb back to the top of the mountain.

It was an exciting night overall with only 1 of the 10 fights ending in a decision.

Notable highlights included undefeated Mew Choo moving to 3-0 overall and climbing to the #2 spot.

Mark Phillips going 2-0 (4-1 overall) in the IFC after brutally KO'ing Chris Irwin in under a minute and handing Irwin his first professional loss after 3 fights.

The tenacious 130lb Klaus "The House" Chugman managed to take his win streak to 3 in a row with a quick submission victory over Paul Michael Levesque who was making his debut in the IFC after a short tenure in the now defunct Vale Tudo TOKYO organisation.

The following "of the night" awards are presented by IniTech Nutrition and chosen by IniTech founder Turd Ferguson

FIght Of The Night goes to Lavar Washington vs Chara Zaad

KO Of The Night goes to Mark Phillips

Sub Of The Night goes to Vic Nikolai

After today's event the Road to the Gold is currently looking a little like this

#Champion) Ricky Hughes (5-0, 264lbs)

#1) Serj Malakian (3-0, 185lbs)

#2) Mew Choo (3-0, 191lbs)

#3) Steven Kennedy (2-1, 178lbs)

Ironman Fight Club VII - Preview

This installment of the Ironman Fight Club will be held at the Los Angeles Underground Arena and will be headlined by a title eliminator between Serj “Chop Suey” Malakian and Steven “The Steamroller” Kennedy

Fight One: David May (260lbs, 1-1) vs. Jon “Under The Thumb” Anderson (170lbs, 0-3)

Opening the night we have David May who will be looking to come back from his last fight, a first round TKO loss against Chong Tay and he'll be taking on the hapless Jon Anderson (160lbs 0-3) who is still searching for his first win.

Fight Two: Chara Zaad (210lbs, 1-2) vs. Bricks “Parpaing” Thrower (204lbs, 3-2)

Both coming off of TKO losses in their last fights no doubt Chara Zaad and Bricks Thrower will be looking to for redemption. Zaad, who has now lost two in a row and will not want to make it a third, has the advantage in the boxing but his lack of grappling skills may hurt him if Bricks can take advantage. So far Bricks has been quite inconsistent alternating wins with losses. In his last fight he suffered a TKO loss at the hands of James Gregor, another fighter with good hands. Bricks will need to use his superior grappling skills in this fight if he want's to avoid similar results. Something he has so far struggled to do.

Fight Three: Dirtbag Dan (228lbs, 1-3) vs. Roarus “Red” Dinosaur (130lbs, 0-3)

Dirtbag Dan is in a slump. A three fight losing streak, Dan needs a win and he needs it here. His opponent is in an almost identical position having lost all of his three fights so far. Roarus Dinosaur is one of the smallest fighters in the IFC right now and it might be too much to ask for a 130lber to compete in an arena with no weight restrictions. All three of his losses have been by KO. Not a great sign for a Muay Thai practitioner. If the fight stays standing then Red has a chance of grabbing that elusive first win but if not, the size and better grappling skills of Dirtbag Dan will most likely be too much once again

Fight Four: Donald “Kkm” Drumpf (201lbs, 2-2) vs. Taz “Crash” Bandichoo (240lbs, 0-2)

Drumpf is in a slumpf. After going 2-0 early in his career, Drumpf has now dropped his last two, albeit against fighters currently sitting in the top 10. Rumor is Drumpf's confidence has not recovered and is at an all time low. His opponent for the evening is Taz Bandichoo. Not much is known about Taz apart from that he is a pure stand up fighter with a granite chin. Unfortunately that didn't save him from a KO loss against Mark Phillips in his last bout. Taz has yet to win a fight but if the rumors are true and Donald Drumpfs heart just isn't in it anymore tonight could be the night we see what “Crash” is made of.

Fight Five: Dave “Tightass” Brooksbank (160lbs, 1-2) vs. En “Metal Priest” Esch (238lbs, 0-2)

In his last fight Dave Brooksbank had his head almost kicked off his shouders by number one contender Serj Malakian. Tonight he takes on En “The Metal Priest” Esch. En Esch has had a disappointing time in the IFC so far having suffered two close decision losses but at 18 years old has plenty of time to improve. Brooksbank seems confident that pure BJJ is enough and with Esch having almost zero grappling skills it just might be. Esch has shown a penchant for grinding clinch work but will have to be very careful to avoid the guard pulling skills of Brooksbank. A stark contrast in styles make this fight very interesting indeed.

Fight Six: George “Jabba” Hut (280lbs, 1-2) vs. Daniel “The Unsanitary” Sainty (150lbs, 1-2)

George Hut has had a rough time in the IFC so far suffering back to back losses via submission. It's surprising as Hut seems well rounded on paper but it's a learning curve and his both his losses are to fighters currently sitting in the top 10. Having chosen not to renew a contract with the IFC, whatever the future holds for Hut he'll be looking to go out with a bang when he takes on Daniel “The Unsanitary” Sainty. Sainty might just have found his groove though having submitted Dirtbag Dan in his last fight. Previous to that Sainty had suffered two KO losses in a row to make his combined record 1-2 overall. On paper, not much apart from a huge weight difference separates these two. It's likely Sainty wants this fight kept on the ground but the question is could he get the 280lb Hut there if Hut decides he wants to stand?

Fight Seven: (#10) Naiki “The Drunken Finnish Demon” Nekele (265lbs, 2-1) vs. Tommy Walcott (140lbs, 2-0)

Fight Seven sees well regarded prospect, #10 ranked Naiki Nekele take on fellow up and comer Tommy Walcott. At 265lbs Nekele will have a huge weight advantage going into this fight. His last outing, Nekele completely dominated Chong Tay over three rounds landing almost two hundred unanswered blows. On the one hand this highlights Nekele's Muay Thai pedigree but on the other hand raises the question; does The Drunken Finnish Demon have problems putting guys away? His opponent Tommy Walcott has no such problem. Currently 2-0 with both wins via TKO, Walcott, a boxer, sits just outside the top 10 waiting for his opportunity to make his name known among the top of the division. The opportunity has arrived but it is a tall, tall order. This is definitely a bout worth keeping an eye on.

Fight Eight: (#8) Boss Yonic (185lbs, 3-1) vs. (#9) Delwyn “Born Wynner” Baines (146lbs, 2-1)

Getting to the end of the night #8 ranked Boss Yonic takes on natural featherweight Delwyn Baines. Yonic is so far enjoying success during his run with IFC. Having put together back to back wins Yonic finds himself thrust into title contention early on. Predominantly a wrestler, Yonic has shown he possesses submission knowledge catching one time ranked Deus Vult with an armbar in his last fight. Delwyn Baines on the other hand is a boxer first and foremost and will be looking to redeem himself after suffering his first career loss, a KO to #2 ranked Mew Choo at IFC V. Both fighters will be looking to cement their place in the top 10 with a win here and both will know that a victory will push them ever closer to title contention.

Fight Nine: (#4) Wolfgang Lee Roth (154lbs, 2-0) vs. “The Barbarian” Battle Ram (220lbs, 6-0)

Lee Roth is coming into this fight as the #4 ranked challenger in the org. Currently undefeated after two fights Lee Roth is carving out a reputation for being a submission specialist. He last bout, at IFC Mid Week 1, he managed to catch big 280lber George Hut in an arm triangle. An impressive feat and one he may be called on to repeat as once again he will be facing a larger man. “The Barbarian” Battle Ram begins the night an impressive 6-0. With a win practically guaranteeing his entry into the top ten it will be interesting how Ram chooses to approach this fight. Relatively well rounded, Ram has options. With 4 KO victories on his resume it would probably be the wiser option to stay away from Lee Roth's dangerous ground game. However, Lee Roth isn't inept when it comes to striking and has shown he is capable of tagging his opponents to create openings.

Main Event: (#1) Serj “Chop Suey” Malakian (185lbs, 3-0) vs. (#3) Steven “The Steamroller” Kennedy (178lbs, 2-1)

Serj Malakian knocks people out. And quickly. After three fights Malakian's time in the cage totals barely over a single minute. The current #1 contender. It's widely rumored that a win here gives Malakain the next shot at newly crowned champion Ricky “Big Tex” Hughes. To get there he first has to get through Steven Kennedy. Kennedy, with an record of 2-1 and alternating wins and losses, will possibly have to do a little more to earn the title shot even if he does somehow manage to find a way past Malakian. To do that he'll need to avoid what others so far haven't been able to and find a way to take this fight to the ground where he will surely have an advantage. Kennedy is a popular fighter though so a big win here may make it impossible for the promoters to ignore what the fans will no doubt want. Only time will tell. Please join us on Saturday night!

Ironman Fight Club IIX - Preview

Another exciting Ironman Fight Club event is almost upon us and it will feature the first title defence in the organisations history when Ricky “Big Tex” Hughes takes on challenger Steven “The Steamroller” Kennedy. Also on the card, a grudge match with Eldar Tskhadaia and Corwin "Vindicate" Valentine going at it once more after their first match was stopped in controversy and a title eliminator to decide who will get the next crack at the gold when #3 ranked Battle Ram takes on #2 ranked Mew Choo.

Boyd “The Vanilla Og” Clark (170lbs, 1-1) vs. Alex Stefanovic (192lbs, 0-0)

Opening the evening we have Boyd Clark who welcomes fellow Aussie Alex Stefanovic to the IFC in what is sure to be an exciting match up. So far in his short career Clark has shown a fairly well rounded skill set and a willingness to mix it up on all levels. Marking his third fight in the IFC tonight, Boyd will no doubt be looking to take advantage of his opponents lack of experience. With not much known about Stefanovic we can only assume he will be looking to make an immediate impact with his Muay Thai expertise.

Jay Stevens (185lbs, 0-2) vs. Akio Yamamoto (150lbs, 1-2)

Up next, Jay Stevens is making his second appearance in the IFC and looking to turn his fortune around with a win over fellow struggler Akio Yamamoto. In his IFC debut, Stevens was taken down and despite holding a purple belt in BJJ was unable to stop the ground offence of grappler Schmorgan Biscuit. Akio Yamamoto will also be making his second appearance in the IFC after falling short in his debut. Last time out he lost a decisive decision to debutant Gin Cobra. Tonight, both fighters will have an opportunity to put the past behind them. Stevens has the edge in the stand up and Yamamoto possibly gets the nod on the floor. With the rumours that both fighters haven't dealt very well mentally after their losses this fight will simply come down to who will want it the most.

Ibrahim Moizoos (279lbs, 1-1) vs. Andy Bogard (150lbs, 1-2)

Ibrahim Moizoos is an exciting super heavyweight prospect who current sports a 1-1 record. Having started his career with the IFC, he will be looking to capitalise on the momentum built off his previous fight, a KO win over Muay Thai fighter Roarus Dinosaur. He will face Andy Bogard who is also enjoying a victory in his last fight. Bogard will be giving up a large amount of weight here and although has been working on his Muay Thai lately, he will still be second best on the feet and quite foolish to think he could hang with the larger Moizoos. Currently a brown belt, Bogard’s strength is in his Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Moizoos’ weapons of choice are his fists and as a result should be very reluctant to engage Bogard in any close quarter regard.

Paul Michael Levesque (255lbs, 1-2) vs. Dream Panda (254lbs, 2-1)

Up next we have the battle of the takedown. Two natural heavyweights collide as Paul Michael Levesque takes on Dream Panda. Levesque has a record of 1-2 and last time out lost his IFC debut to the tenacious Klaus Chugman. Making perhaps the tactical error of taking ground specialist Chugman down, he found himself inside the guard and succumbed to a guillotine choke in just 27 seconds. Against Panda he might not have to be so careful as so far Dream Panda hasn't shown much of a submission game. What he has shown is that he possesses tremendous strength and is willing to grind out a win even if it isn't the most pleasing of spectacles. So far no one has managed to stop either fighter from taking them down. Levesque does posses some boxing skills but as yet we’ve seen very little eagerness to stand and strike. Whether Levesque will choose to do so here we will have to wait and see but I think one thing is guaranteed and that is that someone is getting a take down

Jimbo “Gpk” Bradbrook (160lb, 1-0) vs. Klaus “The House” Chugman (130lbs, 3-1)

Fight number five will be a contest between natural Lightweight Jimbo “Gpk” Bradbrook and natural flyweight Klaus “The House” Chugman. Bradbrook, who is currently 1-0 with a solitary KO win on his record will be making his IFC debut against a fighter currently on a three fight win streak. Chugman, 3-1, has come a long way since his mma debut where he was KO'd in just 17 seconds by previous number one contender Serj Malakian. Since then he has bounced back impressively with accumulative submission victories over much larger opponents. Bradbrook faces a baptism of fire here in his IFC debut and if Bradbrook has any hope of stopping Chugman it will be imperative that he keep the fight standing and use his superior striking skills and weight advantage.

Corwin “Vindicate” Valentine (185lbs, 4-3) vs. (#8) Eldar Tskhadaia (243lbs, 3-0)

Up next we have two fighters hoping to pick up where they left of in an immediate rematch following controversy during their last bout. Corwin Valentine was really starting to find his rhythm before an unfortunate cut stoppage derailed his momentum. Riding a four fight win streak at the time and having showcased an efficient, well rounded skill set he went into the fight favored to win against wrestler Eldar Tskhadaia. Eldar came into the bout undefeated at 2-0 but Valentine was a marked step up in competition for him. During their last bout, Tskhadaia was able to take Valentine down early and control him with what is quickly becoming his trademark ground and pound. Opening a cut within the first minute he was able to keep chopping away leaving the referee no choice but to stop the fight. The Valentine team was understandably unhappy with the decision and insisted he could still fight. Backstage afterwards, Valentines managers lobbied hard for an immediate rematch. Eldar and his team agreed and so here we are. Both fighters will have a better idea of what to expect and will have been able to prepare accordingly.

This fight will be fireworks and I for one am very excited to see what happens.

Vic “Bonebreaker” Nikolai (185lbs, 3-2) vs. Daniel “The Unsanitary” Sainty (150lbs, 2-2)

Vic Nikolai is on a two fight win streak and is beginning to make his name for himself as someone to be feared on the ground. His opponent, Daniel Sainty, has also notched two in a row after coming back from two brutal KO losses to heavy handed hitters. This match up is sure to be contested on the ground as both fighters are most comfortable there. Nikolai has a great takedown but Sainty will likely not worry to much about finding himself on his back. Nikolai will have a slight weight advantage but Sainty has finished heavier guys before. Sainty has never met someone with as good a wrestling pedigree as Nikolai though and it will be interesting to see whether he will be able to create the space to find submissions off his back. Nikolai will no doubt look to make it uncomfortable for Sainty and wear him down before looking for a submission.

Gin Kobra (140lbs, 2-1) vs. Lenny “Fagan Blaster” Manelito (185lbs, 1-0)

In his last fight Gin Kobra made his debut in the IFC and won a unanimous decision against Akio Yamamoto. Kobra had been looking for a place to call home for a while and the Ironman Fight Club is happy to welcome him. His opponent is Lenny Manelito who is making his IFC debut. With only one fight under his belt not much is known about Manelito other than, like Kobra, seems relatively well rounded at this level. Manelito will have a weight advantage in what otherwise looks like a pretty even contest.

(#3) “The Barbarian” Battle Ram (220lbs, 7-0) vs. (#2) Mew Choo (191lbs, 3-0)

Our co-main event this evening is being billed as a IFC title eliminator with the winner highly expected to get the next shot at the Ironman crown.

“The Barbarian” Battle Ram, ranked #3 currently, burst into the IFC off the back of a 16 man QFC tournament win. From there he took out mid carder Heath Bace with an impressive KO and then last time, at IFC VII, took out then number 4 ranked contender Wolfgang Lee Roth again via KO. With 5 of his 7-0 record ending either with his opponent napping or the referee stepping in its easy to see what “The Barbarian” is about; Pain. His opponent tonight also has a taste for KO’s and has finished his last fight in just 10 seconds. Mew Choo will be giving up a little weight here but it’s not expected to make any difference. Choo holds a purple belt in BJJ and has shown he possesses submission knowledge. Although Ram has a preference for standing, its arguably Mew Choo who has the edge in the striking. On paper and in the cage are two very different things however and it will come down to who can put it together best.

(Champion) Ricky “Big Tex” Hughes (264lbs, 5-0) vs. (#1) Steven “The Steamroller” Kennedy (178lbs, 3-1)

In our main event of the evening, Ricky Hughes makes the first defence of his Ironman championship belt against the popular Steven Kennedy.

So far Big Tex has battered everyone in his path and he has done it very quickly. In five fights only one fighter has managed to make it out of the first round. Tonight, Steven “The Steamroller” Kennedy gets an opportunity to see whether he can do what others so far haven't been able to. It would be easy to discount Kennedy’s chances of a win if he hadn’t just taken out undefeated striker Serj Malakian to earn this shot. Kennedy surprised a lot of people and will be hoping to pull off another upset here. This will be Hughes stiffest test so far and Kennedy is expected to push him further than he’s been before. Kennedy will have the edge in the grappling but the general consensus however is that Hughes is too big, too mean and too clever to get drawn into a fight on the ground. Hughes is the champion and he will have no intention of falling short so soon after winning the gold.

Ironman Fight Club IIX has passed and with it a new champion emerges after Steven "The Steamroller" Kennedy pulls off a shocking underdog upset stealing the crown from Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes.

A number one contender was also decided when #2 Mew Choo ran #3 Battle Ram out of the Fight Club ranks. A TKO victory just after the three minute mark in the first round means he will face Kennedy at IFC X on the 5th August 2017.

Following the bout Corwin and his team have decided to move on to other ventures and the IFC want to wish Corwin "Vindicate" Valentine the very best of luck. As someone who helped build the IFC from the beginning he will always have a place here.

Lastly, two more fighters have broken into the IFC Top 10 after good showings tonight. Daniel Sainty moves into the #6 spot and Gin Kobra moves to #7

The following "of the night" awards are presented by IniTech Nutrition and chosen by IniTech founder Turd Ferguson

Ironman Fight Club IX - Preview

Tonights installment of the Ironman Fight Club is headlined by former #1 contender Serj "Chop Suey" Malakian taking on undefeated up and comer Tommy Walcott. Co-headlining we have Wolfgang Lee Roth battling #9 Boss Yonic.

Bricks “Parpaing” Thrower (204lbs, 3-3) vs. Michael Martin Jr (170lbs, 1-2)

Opening the evening we have Bricks Thrower taking on Michael Martin Jr. This will be Bricks seventh career bout and although he is gaining valuable experience, he is still yet to find his rhythm. Currently on a two fight losing streak, Bricks will have a good opportunity to turn things around here. Michael Martin Jr is 0-2 in the IFC so far and doesn’t seem to have recovered his confidence from those losses. On paper these two fighters are very evenly matched but with Thrower taking his training and mental well-being that much more seriously it is hard to see any way Martin Jr can triumph here.

Lukas “Lightning” Green (167lbs, 0-1) vs. Jon “Under The Thumb” Anderson (170lbs, 0-4)

Young prospect Lukas “Lightening” Green had a disappointing start to his MMA career when he suffered a KO loss to Chong Tay at IFC VI. Tonight he gets the opportunity to start afresh when he shares the cage with the hapless Jon “Under The Thumb” Anderson. It’s not known what drives a man like Anderson to pursue something he has so far shown no aptitude for at all but we have come to appreciate his tenacity. In fact during his last fight, a decision loss to David May, it actually looked like he was beginning to turn the fight. Still, it’s fair to say it would be a very large upset for Anderson to best Green but we are looking forward to finding out.

Chara Zaad (210lbs, 2-2) vs. Chong “The Star Fish” Tay (210lbs, 2-1)

Up next, a fight that could easily be a contender for fight of the night. Chara Zaad has won post fight bonuses in three out of his four career fights and tonight pits his technical boxing style against the aggressive wild combos of Chong Tay. Both coming off of KO victories in their previous bouts, confidence will be high and that could be very good for the crowd. Tay has shown to be very hittable at times and that won’t be good going into the later rounds but if Tay can put pressure on the boxer early, he could very well connect with one of those wild combos and end up victorious.

Ivan Krotchlikmiov (244lbs, 2-1) vs. Pero Kostolomac (267lbs, 3-1)

Our third fight of the evening, two returning warriors who have been absent for a while.

Ivan Krotchlikmiov comes into this bout off of a KO victory back at IFC III. One that earned him “KO of the night” honours. He faces a stern test against Pero Kostolomac who tonight looks to come back from a submission loss to former champion Ricky Hughes. During that fight, Hughes was able to exploit Kostolomacs lack of grappling skills and finish with an armbar. Previous to his that loss, Pero was 3-0 all via TKO’s in the first round. Both fighters are natural heavyweights so size will not be an issue here. Ivan Krotch is probably the more well rounded of the two but Pero can be destructive on his feet. If Ivan tries to stand with Kostolomac it might be an early night but if he can take this fight to the ground and follow the blueprint Ricky Hughes set then maybe he could find similar success.

Roarus “Red” Dinosaur (130lbs, 1-3) vs. Toghrul Rasizade (162lbs, 1-1)

After a very disheartening start to his career, Roarus Dinosaur managed to break a three fight losing streak and snatch a unanimous decision win over Dirtbag Dan at IFC VII. Roarus still has a long way to go if he is to convince his critics that he can be effective in this open weight format and with three KO losses already on his record, it’s becoming apparent that perhaps it’s his chin that lets him down. Tonight though he most likely won’t have to worry about that as his opponent Toghrul Rasizade hasn’t shown any other discernible skill apart from wrestling, of which he is exceptional. Rasizade is also coming into this fight off the back of a unanimous decision. This will be the very epitome of a contrast in styles. Simply put the key to victory here will be the takedown. If Rasizade can get it and keep Dinosaur down, he will win. If he can’t then Dinosaur will surely pick Toghrul apart.

Shigeru Miyamoto (160lbs, 1-0) vs. Jack “The Hunk” Dawson (270lbs, 0-0)

With only one fight under his belt not very much is known about mauy thai fighter Shigeru Miyamoto. In his sole MMA fight, a relatively entertaining split decision victory against En Esch, Miyamoto showed some very accurate striking from the outside. It was a close fight and many believed it should have gone the other way. Even less is known about his opponent Jack “The Hunk” Dawson. Significantly heavier than Miyamoto, Dawson is also known as a Muay Thai practitioner. Both of these young fighters will be hoping to secure the win here and begin the climb out of the obscurity of the lower ranks.

Steve Butabi (290lbs, 0-0) vs. Jaime Hudgens (300lbs, 0-0)

Steve Butabi and Jaime Hudgens are both making their career debuts here at the Ironman Fight Club. With no known information on either fighters we can only go by what we know. Both fighters have stand up skills and both fighters are BIG. Usually this combination ends with an entertaining climax and we can only hope both fighters are ready and roaring to go.

Dave “Tightass” Brooksbank (160lbs, 2-2), vs. Delwyn “Born Wynner” Baines (148lbs, 2-2)

For our eighth fight of the evening, Dave “Tightass” Brooksbank will take on former top ten ranked Delwyn “Born Wynner” Baines. After some up and down results, Brooksbank had an impressive showing during his last fight against En “Metal Priest” Esch at IFC VII. Esch, known for his preference for clinch fighting managed to tie Brooksbank up early but quick thinking saw Brooksbank pull guard and drag Esch into unfamiliar territory. From there it wasn’t long before the BJJ enthusiast had secured an arm and had his larger opponent tapping. A very entertaining finish and one that earned him submission of the night. His opponent, Delwyn Baines, has dropped his last two and as a result now lurks just outside of the top 10. As a natural featherweight, the Welshman Baines is often fighting against larger opponents but tonight there isn’t much in it. Baines favours the stand up and supplements that with a modest amount of wrestling skill to keep it there. If he keeps on the outside it could be a very long night for Brooksbank.

(#9) Boss Yonic (185lbs, 4-1) vs. (#10) Wolfgang Lee Roth (154lbs, 2-1)

Boss Yonic has had an impressive start to his Ironman Fight Club tenure so far and surprisingly finds himself ranked #9 in the org. Having already surpassed even the highest expectations a win here could find him even closer to challenging for the title. Riding a three fight win streak, his last two have been against ranked opposition. Tonight is no different and he will stand across from the #10 ranked Wolfgang Lee Roth. Lee Roth has dropped down from #4 after losing to the undefeated Battle Ram by KO. Both fighters have two submission apiece and both have so far shown preference for taking the fight to the ground. Lee Roth has some respectable boxing skills but we've yet to see what he can do in that area. With a slug fest unlikely we are instead looking forward to what could possibly be a close tactical chess match.

(#5) Serj “Chop Suey” Malakian (185lbs, 3-1) vs. (#4) Tommy Walcott (140lbs, 3-0)

The former #1 contender is back and it’s not an enviable task to take on a man known for his KO prowess, especially when he has something to prove. Serj Malakian went into his title eliminator bout against Steve “The Steamroller” Kennedy as the heavy betting favourite but he suffered a surprise defeat at the Australians hands and lost the opportunity for a title shot. Kennedy exploited a hole in Malakian’s armour and that's something Serj will no doubt be thinking on but tonight he will most likely get back to what he does best and that's throw hands. His opponent is undefeated prospect Tommy Walcott. With a record of 3-0 Tommy has shown that he is more than capable of standing up to bigger, heavier opposition and has two KO victories on record. His last bout was a decision win against the then #10 ranked Naiki Nekele. This is an important fight for both athletes and the IFC. Serj will want to begin his ascent to the top of the pile again and retake that title shot and Walcott is dangerously close to challenging for the #1 spot himself and will want nothing more than the scalp of a former #1 contender.

IFC Mid Week 3 - 2nd August 2017 (The Underground - Los Angeles)

Headlining this IFC card we have a former champion making his return to the cage since losing his title, some IFC veterans hoping to climb further up the ranks and several exciting, up and coming young prospects taking part in one fight exhibition fights.

Fight 1: Terje “Nightmare” Warholm (221lbs, 0-0) vs. Ken “The Worlds Most Lethal M” Shamrock (175lbs, 0-0)

Kicking off the evening will be an exhibition fight between two fighters making their MMA debuts. 18 year old Norwegian Terje Warholm will be looking to gain valuable experience here in which to build from. His opponent is Ken Shamrock who seems to completely favour the stand up aspect of the fight game. With the pressure off we look forward to an exciting fight from these two new comers.

Fight 2: Boyd “The Vanilla Og” Clark (170lbs, 1-2) vs. “The Highlight” Just A Gay G (145lbs, 0-1)

Our second bout of the card sees Boyd Clark welcoming “The Highlight” Just A Gay G to the IFC roster. Clark has had mixed results in his three career fights so far going 1-2 and coming into this fight off the back of a loss. A bit of a jack of all trades, Clark enjoys fighting everywhere although lately seems to have been making improvements in his Muay Thai. His opponent, making his IFC debut, is someone who has already put a lot of effort into that department and possesses some wonderful Muay Thai skills. With a solitary decision loss on his record, “The Highlight” will not doubt be looking to do a little better than last time. A good test for both fighters.

Fight 3: Taz “Crash” Bandichoo (240lbs, 1-2) vs. James “The Nervous” Gregor (210lbs, 2-3)

Taz Bandichoo is coming into this fight off the back of an 8 second KO victory at IFC VII against Donald Drumpf. With a record of 1-2 overall and still only 18, Bandichoo has time on his side as he attempts to gain experience and climb the ranks of the IFC. As a pure striker he will need to address a glaring weakness in his arsenal if he is to be truly competitive against the best fighters here. His opponent is James Gregor who is quickly building a reputation for fast exciting fights. Never a dull moment with Gregor. He is currently on a two fight losing streak and holds a record of 2-3 overall. An opportunity here for both fighters to do what they do best and that is stand and strike. Gregor does posses a competent wrestling base however and has been known to go for take downs when it suits him. That could be enough to worry Bandichoo and disrupt his game plan though it’s likely this fight ends up being fought standing.

Fight 4: Harry Winks (170lbs, 0-0) vs. Sirimongkol Niyotrong (152lbs, 0-0)

Fight four brings us another exhibition fight between two young strikers eager to test their skills in the cage. Harry Winks has been training for a while now and this will be his first foray in the mma world. Predominantly a Muay Thai fighter, he is putting notable effort into his boxing and wrestling skills. He’ll face fellow debutant Thailand’s Sirimongkol Niyotrong.

Fight 5: Jimbo “Gpk” Bradbrook (160lbs, 1-1) vs. Andy Bogard (150lbs, 2-2)

Jimbo Bradbrook returns after a disappointing start to his IFC career when he was caught by submission wrestler Klaus Chugman in just under a minute of the first round at IFC IIX. He’ll get another chance to showcase his brand of sprawl and brawl here against IFC veteran Andy Bogard. Bogard is primarily a BJJ fighter but has been noticeably working on his Muay Thai these past few fights. Although improving, it’s unlikely he’ll get the better of Bradbrook standing and will probably have to rely on his superior submission knowledge to gain the upper hand. Bradbrook will be keen to put his debut behind him and show what he can really do and Bogard will looking to keep his own two fight win streak alive.

Fight 6: David O’Connor (300lbs, 2-3) vs. Victor “Phenom” Belfort (220lbs, 1-1)

Two newcomers scare off against each other in our sixth bout of the evening when David O’Connor takes on Brazilian Victor Belfort. David O'Connor makes his first appearance signed to a fight org tonight after spending some time gaining experience at the grass roots level. A respectable 2-3 record overall, he certainly lives by the sword and dies by the sword as either in victory or defeat all of his fights so far have ended either by KO or TKO. O'Connor is an unashamed striker and he is currently riding a two fight win streak. His opponent Victor “Phenom” Belfort is also making his IFC debut here tonight and although isn’t quite as experienced as his opponent, still has a couple of fights already under his belt. 1-1 overall Belfort has also been on both ends of a TKO finish and comes into this fight off the back of a loss. This will be an interesting match up as both fighters will be keen to make an impression here in the IFC tonight.

Fight 7: Mohammed “Salad Tosser” Skaf (233lbs, 2-1) vs. Efan Abiodun (256lbs, 0-0)

When the call was put out for fighters to take part in some one off exhibition bouts, Mohammed Skaf’s manager was one of those to reach out. Although, as of right now, Skaf is only slated to make this single appearance in the IFC, we are excited to see him display his wonderful Muay Thai skills in the cage with us. Standing across from him will be new comer Efan Abiodun who will be making his MMA debut. Though younger and less experienced than Skaf, expectations are that Abiodun be competitive here tonight and showcase his hybrid blend of Boxing and Muay Thai. This fight is not expected to reach the floor and if it does, not stay there for long.

Fight 8: Mihail “No Respect For You” Medzy (155lbs, 4-0) vs. (#10) Greg “The Gronk” Bell (300lbs, 2-2)

There is a bit of a buzz surrounding the next fight as Mihail Medzy makes his IFC debut here tonight. Coming to us with an impressive 4-0 record and with all four wins via Submission in the first round, Medzy is already being touted as someone to be competitive amongst the top echelon of the IFC. His opponent Greg “The Gronk” Bell has made somewhat of a turn around since he started here with us at IFC I. After suffering back to back submission losses to one time title challenger Pol Veri, Bell has managed to go 2-0 and climb back into the top ranks of the IFC, currently sitting in the #10 spot. Whilst Bell is primarily a grappler he struggled against the lighter Pol Veri on the ground and that is most likely where this fight is heading. Bell does have mediocre grasp of boxing but so far hasn't been known to throw much in volume nor with much accuracy. The key to this fight will be whether Mihail Medzy can control Greg Bell on the floor despite the huge weight difference and whether Bell can put to good use some of his striking advantage.

Co-Main Event: (#3) Eldar Tskhadaia (243lbs, 4-0) vs. (#5) Daniel “The Unsanitary” Sainty (150lbs, 3-2)

Eldar Tskhadaia is a simple man. Enjoying a promising wrestling career in his native Georgia he instead turned his attention to MMA and so far with impressive results. Currently undefeated, Tskhadaia’s last bout was an immediate rematch with Corwin Valentine. During that bout, once again, Eldar was able to take the fight to the mat and grind his opponent down all the while showing keen submission awareness. He will likely need those same skills again here tonight as his opponent is BJJ brown belt Daniel “The Unsanitary” Sainty. It’s unknown where Sainty got that nickname from as most of his opponents have been quite complimentary about his flowery scent. After a shaky start to his MMA career, a start that included being clubbed senseless by former champion Ricky Hughes, Sainty has amassed a total of three submission victories in succession and now sits amongst the top ten at #6. As a natural featherweight it isn’t unusual for Sainty to find himself at a weight disadvantage and this fight will be no different. For both fighters the key to victory looks very similar to their last bouts only for Sainty this will be a definite step up in competition from his last few. With the road to title unclear at this time a victory here would be an enormous boon for the victor.

Main Event: (#2) Ricky “Big Tex” Hughes (264lbs, 5-1) vs. (#7) Gin Kobra (140lbs, 3-1)

Ricky “Big Tex” Hughes returns tonight for the first time since losing his IFC crown in a shock upset against perennial underdog Steven “The Steamroller” Kennedy. Up until that point, Hughes had been on a bloody rampage finishing all but one of his fights within the first round and was highly favourite to add Kennedy’s name to that list. In this instance it wasn’t to be and Kennedy snatched a submission victory in the second round leaving all those watching in shock. Hughes has made it clear that he considers the loss a mistake that won’t be repeated and to be frank, sounds pissed. The man with the unenviable task of facing an angry “Big Tex” is natural bantamweight Gin Kobra. Kobra came into the IFC with a solid 1-1 record and since then has gone 2-0. As a result of his last fight, a TKO stoppage win over newcomer Lenny Manelito, the unassuming Kobra finds himself amongst the top dogs of the Ironman Fight Club and is currently ranked #6. This fight represents a huge opportunity for Kobra but also a large step up in competition. A win here would no doubt make the rest of the roster take notice and surely a title shot wouldn’t be too far away? It will be no easy task however as Hughes has a significant weight advantage over him and a proven track record of putting people away early. If Kobra can somehow withstand the usual heavy onslaught from Hughes perhaps he can put something together and find a way to win.

Ironman Fight Club Mid Week 3 (2nd August 2017) - Post Fight Recap

If there's a better way to spend a dreary Wednesday evening then with some exciting Ironman Fight Club Mid Week action then I've not found it!

Tonight saw the return of Ricky "Big Tex" Hughes after losing his title to Steven "The Steamroller" Kennedy and what a return it was. Winning by KO in 1:57 of the 1st round and letting everyone know that "Big Tex" is back.

An impressive victory for #5 ranked Daniel "The Unsanitary" Sainty taking out #3 ranked Eldar Tskhadaia and ending the Georgians undefeated record. Sainty now moves up to the #4 spot in the rankings and keeps his own winning streak going. 4 in a row and all by submission. Very Impressive.

#10 ranked Greg "The Gronk" Bell also had an impressive showing against Mihail Medzy who was coming into the IFC an undefeated 4-0. Bell ended the fight in the 1st round with some vicious GnP around the two minute mark. Bell now moves up to #5 and has notch up 3 wins in a row.

Two successful debuts tonight. David O'Conner with a fantastic 9 second KO over Vitor Belfort and Ken Shamrock with a very surprising submission win over Terje Warholm. Welcome to both fighters and congratulations on a great start with the IFC.
