Big debut night out at the Liberty Done on Saturday last in New York where nearly 4,500 people packed into the Liberty Dome to the main event of Udanda V Rittle. Here’s a quick review of the fights on the night.

Main event

"Diamond" Jezegel Udanda Luss "The Bus" Rittle

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/18/18b5.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/24/24b2.jpg

Here’s hoping nobody went to the toilet after the previous fight as they might have missed Udanda’s cracking right hand after 47 seconds of round one to The Bus. Both fighters came out aggressively but Udanada proved the smarter hands when he rocked The Bus with a beautiful uppercut which has the Bus seeing stars and right after Udanda had no mercy and punched The Bus’s ticket to send him home in an ambulance! Good fight but fans might have hoped for more of the same for longer… Will there be a rematch soon??

Co-Main event

Ormazd "The Gold Prince" Tir Jason "Janoy" Genova

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/2/2w13.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/12/12w15.jpg

Two relative rookies took to the undercard for this bout and in contrast the the main event they went the full distance with Tir winning by unanimous decision in the end 30:27 score by all the judges. TIr kept the pressure on constantly throughout this fight and preferred to stay in clinches as much as possible when he negated Genova’s standup ability, to be fair this was a good fight with plenty of kicks flying around but Tir was much more accurate with his standup legwork landing 42% of his kicks on target with Genova only landing 25% so Tir would prove to be a worthy winner in the end.

Viti V Rothstein

Blink and you would have missed this fight ! Viti won by way of KO (Punch) after only 28 seconds of round one of his second ever professional fight. He opened up Rothstein with a knee to the head then a hook to the head and Rotstein’s legs turned to jelly and the crow were calling out “TIMBER” as he hit the deck. Viti was deadly and accurate and didn’t miss any shot he took on the night.

Helgason V Venkatakrishnan

Two more debutants fighting here in front of the baying crowd. It was a strange fight at the start with Venkatakrishnan instigating clinches then breaking them off which must have been part of the grand plan where he clinched hit once then broke off to try to wear his opponent down which worked as won by TKO (Punch) after 1.59 minutes of round one with the ref calling the fight as he felt Helgason wasn’t fit to continue after he called him Mom several times!

Parisi V Tsergas

Real slugfest this one was with both fighters happy to swing punches at each other rather than worrying about kicks. Tesrgas was floating like a butterfly as he only got hit once in the whole fight before landing a massive left hook on Parisi which knocked him out cold after 2.38 of round one. Tsergas has big plans for himself and based on this result he has a good future ahead of him.

Cardoso V Whok

Cardoso look tired coming into this one and Whok made light work of him in the end when he nearly took Cardoso’s eye out with an elbow after a minute of round one of this fight. This elbow was the culmination of 10 other elbows that landed on Whok in this fight and he went home battered and bruised after this bout.

Lahey V Stoner

Poor enough fight in the end this one was with the crowd getting little tetchy during the last round in particular with the bouncers outside the ring getting a bit worried things might kick off. Lahey won in the end by way of unanimous decision 30:27. There was a lot of punches/kicks thrown in this bout but not many landed but Lahey will be happy enough that he won it in the end

Dabingyaba V Chai

Good match up here with Chai winning in the end by way of KO Punch after a bruising 2,24 minutes of round one, plenty of action in this one. Chai knocked Dabingyaba out cold with a beautiful left hook to get a great win on his debut fight.

Brathwaite V Honcho

Another fight on the night to go the full 3 rounds with Honcho winning in the end by unanimous decision 30:27. This was was always going to be interesting with Honcho having heavy hands and Brathwaite with his granite chin so not surprised it went the distance! Honcho had it all his way in the clinch and this where his strengths lie and he scored all his points in the clinch. Brathwaite lost this one because he was very inaccurate with his shots all night.

Branch V Marques

This one lasted less time than the scene in American Pie where Jim and Nadia get together in Jims's bed! Branch KO’d Marques after 37 seconds of this bout with a divine hook that dropped Marques out cold - beautiful stuff!

Hope you like the review

Striking Masters 2 KT Preview and Predictions (928592) - 28 Sept 19 - Sparta's Palace, Las Vegas - Brought To You By: Conviction -
Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)

sxXWngw.jpg

Hello folks! I’m returning (to MMA itself) writer Gabe, and you’re joining me for one hell of a fight card, hosted by rising KT organisation, Striking Masters out of good ol’ New York, New York.

Coming to you live from the mecca of fighting: Las Vegas, Nevada, we have a dynamite display of high level striking on show, from opening bell to closing, so without further ado, let's get to the fights!

MAIN EVENT

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/4/4w10.jpghttp://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/10/10b10.jpg

RENY VS OXFORD

Nick “Brawler” Reny 0-0-0 (3-2-0 MMA) VS Alex “Foxy” Oxford 0-0-0 (1-0-0 MMA)
5 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 205lbs

An interesting matchup at Light Heavyweight is our main event for the evening. Both our main eventers are existing Mixed Martial Artists, coming in with winning records in a combined 6 fights shared between them.

But put simply? I think the sheer striking pedigree that Oxford brings to KT is going to give him tremendous edge in this contest, having been trained extensively in boxing, Muay Thai, and having a vice like control over the clinch – the one area I would have given Reny a chance to compete in. Reny himself has a little Michael Bisping syndrome, a man that’s decent at everything, but not great at anything, his one chance for me is to land a flash knockout, or frustrate “Foxy” in the clinch.

Let's hope he tries to prove me wrong, so we have a competitive main event, but as things stand? I have Oxford winning by stoppage, in emphatic style in the first or second round.

Gabe’s Prediction: Alex “Foxy” Oxford (W) KO/TKO Round 2

CO-MAIN EVENT

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/24/24w8.jpghttp://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/27/27b3.jpg

VITI VS MAKINO

Danny “Damage” Viti 1-0-0 (2-0-0 MMA) VS Fumito Makino 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 155lbs

A tough introduction into the world of KT for the debuting teen from Tokyo Japan, as Fumito takes on the Italian prospect, Danny "Damage" Viti at lightweight.

What information I do know comes from Makino’s camp, and what they say raises my expectations of the young fighter, who apparently brings a high-level technical boxing game to the ring, which will give him an edge if the contest stays at range, provided he finds a way to deal with the kicks Viti is known to throw, low or high.

“Damage” has the edge in experience, having had three pro fights across disciplines, winning 2 by knockout, and one by unanimous decision, and being the more likely of the two to be comfortable in that ring, under the bright lights, I certainly see him being composed early.

That said? I think I’ll take a gamble on this one, Makino’s camp talk a big game, and I think he might just be able to back it up, certainly possessing a higher striking skillset than any of Viti’s previous opponents.

Makino early is my prediction; I think he just about gets the jump on his opponent.

Gabe’s Prediction: Fumito Makino (W) KO/TKO Round 1 - 2

UDANDA VS STEVE

“Diamond” Jezegel Udanda 1-0-0 (3-0-0 MMA) VS Tessin “The Master” Steve 1-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 265lbs

Hooo Boy! This one is a dark horse for fight of the night, as we move down to some Heavyweight action. Udanda versus Steve. Honed Boxing versus Fluid Muay Thai.

The heavy-handed Udanda brings an excellent boxing game into the ring, as well as raw power, finishing half of his fights across MMA and KT in under one minute. I see his strategy being aggression from the start of the bell, maintaining pressure, peppering the young Steve’s head from range in the opening seconds, finding his range before leaping in with a haymaker from hell, aimed to end this early.

As well he should, because if Steve can drag his more experienced opponent into the clinch, he can do some grisly damage, destroying his last opponent with hard shots worked over the body, and head from inside the clinch. If he can close the distance on his taller opponent, I can see him chipping away at his resolve, and finishing him late.

It’s a tough, tough call, but I think Steve just has the superior gameplan, it’s a bad clash of styles for the Ethiopian, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he managed to get a flash knockout early, if Steve telegraphs as he moves in to clinch. As it goes? I think Steve grabs a hold of Udanda, and roughs him up before a late stoppage.

Gabe’s Prediction: Tessin “The Master” Steve (W) KO/TKO Round 2 – 3

TAI KUNG VS FREEMAN

Manolito Tai Kung 0-0-0 (2-0-0 MMA) VS Django “Pitbull” Freeman 0-0-0 (1-0-0 MMA)
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 170lbs

Debuting Welterweight action tonight, as we have two undefeated mixed martial artists jumping into the KT fray as Tai Kung takes on Django “Pitbull” Freeman.

I’m salivating at the thought of this one, as we have two dedicated students to the school of Muay Thai Kickboxing, with both fighters having been able to finish off opponents with high kicks, and both also heading into this fight with a 100% finishing rate.

Both fighters are relatively junior in the pro game, having only 3 pro fights between them, and each being under 23 years of age, with Tai Kung having a slight edge in experience, but ironically, with Freeman having spent more time in the cage in his sole MMA fight than Tai Kung across 2.

This could simply come down to who comes into this fight the most well prepared, as both fighters look pretty evenly matched on paper, but I’d have to give the edge in preparation to Tai Kung, he comes from stellar management, and his camp seem to have a more proven track record of producing great fighters.

Edge goes to Tai Kung, and I think after a wild, if not tactical opening, he takes it by KO in the very first round.

Gabe’s Prediction: Manolito Tai Kung (W) KO/TKO Round 1

BRANCH VS QUICK

Frank Branch 1-0-0 (1-0-0 MMA) VS Dru “D Money” Quick 1-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 265+lbs

An open weight fight promises to excite as we reach the midpoint of the card, with a large size differential separating our two fighters tonight. Its David versus Goliath. May the best man win, as Branch takes on Quick.

A tough one to call, I’d give the speed advantage to the smaller Branch, but the hits he’ll take from the much, MUCH larger “D Money” will be enough to put him out in a flash if he gets caught.

I think this fight will ultimately come down to killer instinct, who can get off their strikes, their combinations early, as I don’t see either fighter wanting to keep this in the clinch for too long. In that department, I think Branch is quicker out of the gates, with Quick being out maneuvered in the clinch in his debut fight, despite looking for it 10 times, in a fight he managed to keep out of the judge's hands by stopping his man in the third round.

It could go either way, but I think Branch is going to come out fast, and try to send the larger Quick out of their early, or he could be subjected to a beating from a man with 60 pounds on him, a though that ought to motivate him at least!

Gabe’s Prediction: Frank Branch (W) KO/TKO Round 1
(Gabe’s Notes: if it goes past round 1, odds shift massively to support Quick by a brutal stoppage)

WONHEIM VS KANE

Joshua “Akira” Wonheim 0-0-0 VS "Citizen Pain” Will Kane 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 155lbs

Short and sweet prediction here, as we have two debuting Lightweights looking to throwdown. It’s Wonheim versus Kane.

From the footage I've seen of padwork, training, technique, its clear that the more well rounded fighter is Mr. Kane, having decent fundamentals across the board, where his opponent is a more traditional Sprawl’N’Brawl type fighter, using minimal wrestling to keep the fight on the feet, and use his excellent Muay Thai to his advantage.

But the better striker? Wonheim, in about every respect. He has more snap in his strikes, is better at close quarters, and I think he’ll crash Kane out of there early, with a rude awakening to the world of KT.

“Akira” in round one.

Gabe’s Prediction: Joshua "Akira” Wonheim (W) KO/TKO Round 1

WHOK VS KING

Piger Whok 1-0-0 VS Daruis King 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 135lbs

A battle at bantamweight, as two young prospects look to steal the show. Thai Boxer Whok takes on Australian Boxer King, in a classic clash of striking disciplines. Put simply? I have no idea how this is going to turn out. At all.

Footage on king is minimal at best, but I’ve been assured of his pure boxing credentials by fighters he’s sparred with, that he’s a fighter with fast hands, and good power.

And that, I think will be his downfall. Whok brings pitfalls that King might never have experienced, with brutal knees and elbows in the clinch being a possible stumbling block for King. I think there’ll be an initial feeling out process with King sticking out a couple of jabs, maybe a power shot to keep Whok at bay, but eventually, Whok’s going to close the distance, and close the show. I think...Maybe. Yes.

Gabe’s Prediction: Piger Whok (W) KO/TKO Round 1

LATI VS RICHIE

William “Shake” Lati 0-0-0 (3-1-0 MMA) VS Kolbie “The Experiment” Richie 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 170lbs

Welterweight action in our second fight here tonight, as both fighters make their debut inside of KT rules, with “The Experiment” Making the walk for his first pro fight.

Short one here, I think Lati takes this by relatively middle-ish to late stoppage over the debuting Bostonian. With all due respect to Richie, from my understanding, he comes from a mostly submission-grappling based background, whereas the man they call “Shake” has been in his fair share of knockdown brawls before, with none of his pro fights so far seeing the final bell.

I think the overmatched Richie has his work cut out for him here, Lati takes this one relatively easily for me.

Gabe’s Prediction: William “Shake” Lati (W) KO/TKO Round 1 – 2

OPENING FIGHT

PENG VS GREEN

Wei “Hands Of Stone” Peng 0-0-0 VS Mick Green 0-0-0
5 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 145lbs

A very close call, is our opening fight, as two young prospects take each other on at featherweight.

By reputation, both these fighters show a lot of promise, with excellent boxing and MT skillsets respectively. I can see this fight going either way, but I’ve heard tell that the half chinese, half brazillian Peng’s boxing is truly astonishing for his age, and can develop into a special striker if nurtured correctly.

I think Peng will look to avoid getting into a close quarters exchange, and strike at range, and can see him using a variety of strikes to set up a knockout blow. Will Green be able to pull out what in my mind would be an upset to the highly touted Peng? We shall see, but for my money, I think Peng takes this one.

Gabe’s Prediction: Wei "Hands Of Stone" Peng (W) KO/TKO Round 1

Aaaaaaaaaaand that’s. A. WRAP!

It promises to be a night of bell to bell carnage at Striking Masters 2 (928592), so collect your tickets now, and don’t miss the action. 28th of Sept, Las Vegas Nevada!

I’ve been Gabe, and I’ll see you, when I see you!

Alex Oxford took on Nick Reny in the main event, in a fight that really saw the “Brawler” take punishment. (Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Alex “Foxy” Oxford (W) KO/TKO Round 2)

CO-MAIN EVENT

VITI VS MAKINO

Danny “Damage” Viti 1-0-0 (2-0-0 MMA) VS Fumito Makino 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 155lbs

Our Co-Main saw undefeated Danny Vito taking on Fumito Makino, making his combat sports pro debut. It was a debut to remember for the Japanese rookie, who thoroughly outstruck his older opponent on the feet. The fight saw Vito taking things into the clinch on ten separate occassions, but never was able to keep Makino there for long enough, and after three rounds of fighting, had the fight slip away from him, despite him trying to out-physical the youngster. A good win for Makino, as his promising career starts here.

Result: Fumito Makino (W) UD Round 3
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Fumito Makino (W) KO/TKO Round 1 – 2)

UDANDA VS STEVE

“Diamond” Jezegel Udanda 1-0-0 (3-0-0 MMA) VS Tessin “The Master” Steve 1-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 265lbs

Up next, my dark horse for fight of the night in the preview, and it did not dissapoint – despite lasting only a paltry 72 seconds – as Udanda took on Steve.

Udanda, a boxer with natural KO power was unable to work at all, as he was immediately rushed by Steve, tackling him into the ropes and working him over ferociously in the clinch. “The Master” threw powerful shot after powerful shot into “Diamond” landing with everything he threw, and after a wild combination that saw Udanda get nothing but air, he met his match with a right hook from hell, putting him FIRMLY into loopy land.

Result: Tessin “The Master” Steve (W) TKO Round 1
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Tessin “The Master” Steve (W) KO/TKO Round 2 – 3)

TAI KUNG VS FREEMAN

Manolito Tai Kung 0-0-0 (2-0-0 MMA) VS Django “Pitbull” Freeman 0-0-0 (1-0-0 MMA)
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 170lbs

Mmmmm... I do love a head kick KO, and this fight didn’t dissapoint.
Manolito came out like a man possessed, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at his opponent, as Django freeman looked to get a breather by reaching for clinch after clinch, offering only 1 successful attempt out of 17. Yes, 17 tries, and once he was there he was still being outperformed by Tai Kung. A breakout performance for the man from the Philippines, who put on a striking masterclass tonight, cracking Freeman with a lethal head kick, his sixth of the night, and his third knockdown, and putting him out for good.

Result: Manolito Tai Kung (W) TKO Round 2
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Manolito Tai Kung (W) KO/TKO Round 1)

BRANCH VS QUICK

Frank Branch 1-0-0 (1-0-0 MMA) VS Dru “D Money” Quick 1-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 265+lbs

WHAT. A. FIGHT.

Both fighters were put on their ass in this seesaw contest, with each fighter having nothing to feel ashamed of. The downfall of Quick here, was ironically, despite his name, being too slow to catch the much lighter Branch, who played tic tac toe on his opponents face at times with his agile striking, and aggressive pace. Quick begged for the clinch but was denied every time by Branch, who looked to have the bigger man in all sorts of trouble in the first round, and overhand left from hell that “D Money” got up just in time from.

As I predicted, after the first round, Quick started to have more success, flooring his opponent with a big combo in the third round, Branches resiliance was admirable, and he survived the round, and arguably won the rest of it, taking this back and forth war by UD.

Result: Frank Branch (W) UD Round 3
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Frank Branch (W) KO/TKO Round 1)

WONHEIM VS KANE

Joshua “Akira” Wonheim 0-0-0 VS "Citizen Pain” Will Kane 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 155lbs

The Battle of the clinch was again decisive here, as the man known as “Akira” ragdolled Kane at times, keeping him out of the kind of fight he’d have preferred with a vice like grip, and a brutal, grinding assault over the head and body up close.

After a round and a half of roughing up, Wonheim sensed the left hook was open, and cold cocked “Citizen Pain” with a shot that would have dropped an elephant. I hope Kane makes a swift recovery, and look forward to seeing Wonheim’s next fight, with an exciting fight career ahead of him.

Result: Joshua "Akira” Wonheim (W) KO Round 2
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Joshua "Akira” Wonheim (W) KO/TKO Round 1)

WHOK VS KING

Piger Whok 1-0-0 VS Daruis King 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 135lbs

A one-sided beatdown at bantamweight, as Whok ran through King. King came in here with a good boxing game, and solid resistance, but had no answer to the clinch management of Whok, who stopped King from getting ANY offense in. Whok executed his preferred gameplan to perfection, clinching at the beginning of each round, and showing King why muay thai is often called the “art of 8 limbs” hitting him with brutal knees, elbows and fists, and cutting him open before a brutal knee strike ended things in the second round.

Result: Piger Whok (W) TKO Round 2
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: Piger Whok (W) KO/TKO Round 1)

LATI VS RICHIE

William “Shake” Lati 0-0-0 (3-1-0 MMA) VS Kolbie “The Experiment” Richie 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 170lbs

Well, I had predicted Lati taking this one easy and he did not disappoint.
In a hectic opening stanza, he had cut his man, floored his man, then did so again, knocking him out cold in what amounted to only 9 SECONDS of action.

He’ll be a tricky opponent to prepare for, with an unorthodox brawling style, but let's see if his technical shortcomings are overcome, as he will no doubt be put to the test in future fights.

Result: William “Shake” Lati (W) KO Round 1
(Gabe’s Pre-Fight Prediction: William “Shake” Lati (W) KO/TKO Round 1 – 2)

RENY VS OXFORD

Nick Brawler Reny 0-0-0 (3-2-0 MMA) VS Alex Foxy Oxford 0-0-0 (1-0-0 MMA)

5 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 205lbs

Alex Oxford took on Nick Reny in the main event, in a fight that really saw the Brawler take punishment. Reny looked to be hurt at one point, and on the verge of going, and was cut open almost immediately. He held on until the end of the fight, showing his durability, but in the end the better fighter won. Oxford claims his first win under kickboxing rules.

Striking Masters 3 KT Preview and Predictions (930315) - 26 Oct 19 - Credit Card Center, New York - Brought To You By: Conviction -
Written by Gabe T.S. Gardner (112290)

Welcome one and all, to another stellar fight card from KT's rising stars: Striking Masters!
We have some absolutely incredible fights lined up, and some intriguing match-ups to break down, so lets get right to it!

MAIN EVENT

OXFORD VS PAZ

Alex “Foxy” Oxford 1-0-0 VS “The Alchemist” Rico Paz 0-0-0
5 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 205lbs

A promising MMA fighter makes his KT debut tonight against one of the front-runners of the burgeoning light heavyweight division, as Rico "The Alchemist" Paz takes on "Foxy" Alex Oxford. On Paper you'd think this was a done deal, and that Paz, a fighter making his KT debut and being thrown right in the deep end would be a mistake, but dig a little further and you'll see this heavy handed slugger is here on merit. the self styled "Alchemist" has fought twice under mixed martial arts rules before joining up with Striking Masters, cleaning out his opposition in a jaw-dropping combined 15 seconds. 15. Showing immense power in his outrageous head kicks, and big right hand, the raw strength Paz possesses would give a bull elephant trouble, let alone any one man standing in front of him.

Where Oxford boasts his largest advantage over the powerful Paz is in the technique department, while he has had considerably more time to show of his accurate array of strikes, that hasn't stopped him demonstrating the very definition of being effective in the clinch, and using scything kicks couple with hammering fists to keep opponents guessing.

Well, aside from the unlikely event of a draw (spoilers. Gabe thinks this one isn't going the distance.) I think this fight goes one of two ways.

1. Paz checks Oxford's relatively untested chin early with his insane power, and blasts him out inside of a round before Oxford finds his rhythm.

2. Oxford is able to use his full arsenal of strikes and distance management, coupled with superior technique to pick apart Paz, and take him to a decision, or finish a severely beaten Paz off in the later rounds.

Decisions Decisions.

While I don't think either Fighter has really faced that tough competition (Paz's previous opponents have a laughable combined 1-9-0 record between them, Oxford's 4-3-0, with his only win at KT coming over a fighter that was undoubtedly not a striking specialist, and was a completely outmatched MMA convert.) This will be a chance to show an inkling of their true ability.

Could be a pick em fight, but I think first one to land hard wins. And I think Paz might just be able to pull it off with his sheer aggression, and balls to the wall style.

Gabe’s Prediction: “The Alchemist” Rico Paz (W) KO/TKO Round 1

TAI KUNG VS DUNN

Manolito Tai Kung 1-0-0 VS Matty “Chest Neck” Dunn 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 170lbs

A tough night ahead for combat sports debutante Matty Dunn here tonight, as he takes on one of the welterweight divisions most lethal strikers: Manolito Tai Kung.
The risk and reward are both very very high for the Englishman, who reportedly has a decent boxing background, and fundamental level grappling. On the upside, should he topple the undefeated Filipino fighter, he'll immediately stamp his presence on the division, and rise high up the rankings. On the downside, Tai Kung is a bad motherfucker.

Known for his large kicking output - something someone from a boxing background might be unprepared for - Tai Kung has three KO victories across all disciplines in his career, including a second round head kick stoppage in his KT debut.

Traditionally however, Tai Kung has avoided the clinch at all costs, preferring to strike at range against those that would close the distance on him. If Dunn can get the elusive Tai Kung into a clinch, and use his fundamental grappling skills to keep him there, working him over with peppering strikes, he might be able to smother the Filipino, and pull off a dramatic upset. Buuuuut....

I'm nigh on 100 percent certain, we see the opposite. I think Tai Kung sets the tempo with his dangerous leg kicks, and gives "Chest Neck" a striking lesson, possibly even getting rid of him in the opening stanzas with a head kick out of nowhere.

In this writers opinion, I can't Dunn winning. Tai Kung early.

Gabe’s Prediction: Manolito Tai Kung(W) KO/TKO Round 1

WONHEIM VS GONCALVES

Joshua “Akira” Wonheim 1-0-0 VS Guilherme “G.G.” Goncalves 0-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 155lbs

Boxing Specialist vs Muay Thai Master in this classic match up at lightweight.
Both men come into this fight having won their combat sports debuts by knockout, and in two polar opposite fashions. Under MMA rules, "G.G." knocked out his only opponent to date, showing an accurate, and diverse punching game, and strong boxing ability as he stuffed 6/7 takedowns, and boxed him up completely with fast combinations, heavy bodyshots and sickening power punches to the head, stopping his man cold in the dying moments of the first round.

"Akira" showed a soulcrushing clinch game, as he battered his opponent across two rounds with ceaseless, oppressive pressure in the clinch, and repeated thudding blows to the body and upstairs.

The winner here will be whoever can impose their style on the other fighter, and while it might be unfair to judge either of these warriors off of one contest, thats sort of what I'm being paid to do here. Goncalves, while showing an admirable ability to keep the fight standing up, did succomb to a takedown in his MMA debut, and perhaps a cannier operator might have taken advantage, and beat him up on the ground. Wonheim however, has shown that he can happily trap the opposing fighter in clinch warfare, brutalising Will Kane over two rounds, before knocking him out, and if I'm pressed, I'd have to go with him again.

Kane inside the distance.

Gabe’s Prediction: Joshua “Akira” Wonheim (W) KO/TKO Rounds 1-3

BRANCH VS MAUI

Frank Branch 2-0-0 VS Raykuza Maui 1-0-0
3 3-minute rounds under KT rules at 265+lbs

Ho ho hooooo!
Christmas has come very early for this writer, as we have an absolutely delicious fight to pick apart here at openweight. Branch versus Maui. David versus Goliath. I. Can't. Wait.

Okay, so the obvious out of the way: Branch is giving up about 100lbs here to his opponent, as well as 3 inches in height and reach roughly. He's the smaller guy, no question. what does he bring to the table? Stamina. Stamina for days, and explosive power and accuracy for someone giving up so much weight. In a back and forth war at Striking Masters II he outpointed the 266lbs heavy hitter, Dru Quick, in a fight where both athletes had to pick themselves off the floor, and both ate heavy, heavy shots. The key here for Branch is avoiding any kind of clinch or grappling exhange with the monsterous Maui, and using that same speed, output, and lightness of feet to steal rounds from his larger foe, and take him out if the opportunity presents itself.

So, whats the gameplan for the man mountain from Hawaii? AVALANCHE. Throw often, throw accurate, and Branch will feel the effects. a 300 pounder sitting down on clubbing blows is going to be enough to make anyone second guess their gameplan, and he needs to get Branches respect to stifle that ceaseless volume of punches he can expect to face. If he has a clinch game, this is an excellent fight to debut it, as his raw size and strength advantage over Branch will do a lot of the work for him, in trapping him, wearing him out, and eventually, when the moment is right: Knocking him out. While its prudent to be cautious against a dangerous opponent, being overly cautious against a busier fighter will give away rounds, something Raykuza cannot let happen. Hit him hard, hit him early, and he will fall.

I'm licking my lips in anticipation, and I expect another openweight war here tonight. the victor? only time will tell... but if you had to ask me, I can see Branch just stealing this one again by decision, but he'll have to be cautious. One wrong mistake? and its lights out. Maui grows more dangerous the longer this fight goes on, and the reverse result would not be at all surprising to me.

Gabe’s Prediction: Frank Branch (W) UD/SD/MD Round 3

UNDERCARD

Rogger Clowen 0-0-0 VS Anni Skystalker 0-0-0 145lbs
Gabe’s Prediction: Rogger Clowen (W) KO/TKO Rounds 1-2

Gabe’s Prediction: Piger Whok (W) KO/TKO Rounds 1-2

Sean Avery 0-0-0 VS Morgan Morris 0-0-0 185lbs
Gabe’s Prediction: DRAW (D) UD/SD/MD Round 3
(Gabe's Notes: Both fighters are managed by the same manager? curious...)

Baruto Tonissaar 0-0-0 VS Robert Brownie Jr 0-0-0 185lbs
Gabe’s Prediction: Robert Brownie Jr (W) KO/TKO Round 2

(931968) STRIKING MASTERS 4: Preview & Predictions

Article Written by Gabriel T.S. Gardner

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1b10.jpghttp://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32b17.jpg

MAIN EVENT

Jamal "Black Pantera" Gazimagomedov (KT 0-0-0 MMA 7-4-0) VERSUS Shaopang Narpowang (KT 0-0-0) 5-3 Minute Rounds at 155lbs

Oooouuuuurrrr MAIN event of the evening is an anticipated contest between two debutants in the world of KT, the rough and ready Jamal Gazimagomedov, versus the fresh faced newcomer to combat sports: Shaopang Narpowang.

A bit of a brawler, but with considerable Muay Thai prowess, he comes in with a spotty record of 7-4-0 in MMA, and will be hoping for a change of fortunes in a new arena of combat. The russian has shown he has the ability to go the distance, grinding out a large number of decision wins in a relatively short career, and given he won't have to worry about the takedown anymore, I'm sure he will relish the chance to compete.

Shaopang will have it all to prove against a tough customer, as he comes into this contest with no professional fighting experience, but I've heard through the grapevine, he comes from exceptional managerial company, training at the BloodFight gym owned and operated by his manager Christian Johansson. This gives the youngster a superb chance at accomplishing a great feat on his debut.

How do I think this fight will go down? Aye, there's the rub. Both fighters will doubtlessly want to take this fight into the clinch, being MT practitioners and having well developed inside fighting ability, who will be able to eek out the win from the tie up?

I have to hand the edge to the youngster, albeit hesitantly - as we have no evidence to examine his work yet - but he comes from a good stable of fighters and talented management, I think that has to give him an advantage against a tough, but not elite opponent. "Black Pantera" might prove me wrong, but my moneys on Shaopang.

Gabes Prediction: Shaopang Narpowang (W) TKO/KO RD 1-2

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/43/43w2.jpghttp://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/37/37a1.jpg

Manolito Tai Kung (KT 2-0-0 MMA 2-0-0) VERSUS Cayden "Kay-Ohhhhh" Abner (KT 0-0-0 MMA 4-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 170lbs

Our co-main is one this writer is incredibly excited by, Tai Kung, a familiar face and highlight reel in Striking Masters, takes on a debuting Abner, who is crossing over from mixed martial arts, and who has a scary record for someone just starting in MMA, with three KO wins out of four, albeit two against the same fighter.

Similar to our main event, both fighters are Muay Thai specialists, but both are coming in undefeated across two disciplines.

Tai Kung has wreaked havoc here in SM so far, with two headkick victories back to back, and a 100 percent KO rate in all fights in every discipline, he'll look to light up his opponent with killer striking for a third straight fight - but he has his hands full tonight.

Abner may favour MT as his discipline of choice, but he's not a fighter to rush into the clinch, or throw wild kicks, knees or elbows. Indeed, Abner favours the punch above all strikes, and has found considerable favour with it across four MMA bouts, earning three KO wins and two inside of a minute.

It looks like as opposed to a clinch clinic, we'll see a striking war between a versatile kickboxer, and a heavy handed puncher. I'm licking my lips in anticipation!

Who has the edge in this writers mind? It's close, real close, but I think with more tools, and more experience in KT, Tai Kung poses an overall greater threat, and he's not proved me wrong so far.

Sorry Cayden, I'm siding with Manolito and early, after a wild opening exchange.

Gabes Prediction: Manolito Tai Kung (W) KO/TKO RD 1

THE UNDERCARD

Piger Whok (KT 3-0-0) VERSUS Mick Green (KT 1-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 135lbs

Possibly the fight with the largest implications in the division at SM, as two of the top prospects go to war. I think both fighters have the power to stop eachother, but I think this goes to a close decision, and Whok just takes it. Could be proved wrong though.

Gabes Prediction: Piger Whok (W) Decision SD/MD RD 3

"The Warlord" Jory Rosewarne (KT 1-0-0) VERSUS Aundre Groce (KT 0-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 205lbs

Two good prospects will face off here. I was proven wrong by Rosewarne in his debut, which he impressively won in under 30 seconds, but I think his lack of a clinch game will be his undoing against a debuting MT specialist. I could fall on my face with this prediction too, but who knows. I think Groce gets a late knockout in the clinch, or takes the win by decision in his debut.

Gabes Prediction: Aundre Groce (W) KO/TKO RD 2-3 OR Decision UD RD 3

Abrama "The Spider" Silva (KT 2-1-0) VERSUS Tafa "Mutant" Misipati (KT 1-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 265lbs

A huge weight difference here at heavyweight as Misipati comes in as clearly the bigger man. Silva will have the speed and perhaps explosiveness advantage but he's just come off a loss where he tasted real heavyweight power. Its a close call, but I think Misipati might just clip him, but it wouldn't surprise me if the tough, and incredibly hard hitting for his size Silva takes him by surprise and gets back in the win column.

Gabes Prediction: Tafa "Mutant" Misipati (W) KO/TKO RD 3 (Notes: Could Go Either Way)

Robert Brownie Jr (KT 1-0-0) VERSUS "Boy" George Michael Bisping (KT 0-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 185lbs

A great matchup here between two young prospects, and a classic Boxer versus Kickboxer type of clash in store. I know next to nothing about "Boy" GMB but only that he does come from accomplished management. That being said, Brownie Jr has show ability against MT fighters, getting a decision victory in his first KT fight. It could be close, and I may not have enough information to even be qualified to make a decision here, but since its my job, I'll have to default to the only fighter I've seen fight, but I'll keep a close eye on this one for future matchups.

Gabes Prediction: Robert Brownie Jr (W) Decision UD RD 3

Frankie Edgar Allen Poe (KT 0-0-0) VERSUS Akio "A-Bomb" Nagashima (KT 0-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 155lbs

Two unknowns here, so I have practically nothing to go on. The management team behind Allen Poe is more proven, so I'll side with reputation alone on this one, another fight to watch to get an idea behind each fighters abilities going forward.

Gabes Prediction: Frankie Edgar Allen Poe (W) KO/TKO RD 1-3 OR Decision UD RD 3

"Iron" Mike Tyson Fury (KT 0-0-0) VERSUS Kuuyo "Dos" Ueda (KT 0-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 265lbs

Same exact story as the previous fight, even the same management, would be a hypocrite to say anything other than the same result.

Gabes Prediction: "Iron" Mike Tyson Fury (W) KO/TKO RD 1-3 OR Decision UD RD 3

Ando "Smoke" Fumiaki (KT 0-0-0) VERSUS Javaris Jamar Javarison Lamar (KT 0-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 265+lbs

Another fight between two debutants in openweight. Its a tough call but I think the weight difference favours Fumiaki, and he might be able to use his speed advantage to harrass Quadruple J and eek out a win, he won't want to get into grappling battle too bad though, he might get leaned on. Could go either way, so toss a coin. Me? I think Fumiaki might just pull it off.

Gabes Prediction: Ando "Smoke Fumiaki (W) KO/TKO RD 1-3 OR Decision UD RD 3

Rafael "Capoeira" De La Rosa (KT 0-0-0) VERSUS Manny Fernandez (KT 0-0-0) 3-3 Minute Rounds at 145lbs

Our opening fight sees two promising prospects taking on one another, and yes, its another one where I've never seen any of them fight and have to guess again. whoop de dooo! (My prediction accuracy could be all over the map for this one folks). But I do love a fight where I don't know whats going to happen so lets stop complaining and analyze. Its a close call, since I think both DO have potential, and what it takes to succeed (Good ability, good management, young enough to improve etc.) Buuuut I think De La Rosa's superior ability at MT might be the deciding factor. Who knows. If you do, you're either a liar or are cheating somehow. Verdict? a De La Rosa victory early on.

Gabes Prediction: Rafael "Capoeira" De La Rosa (W) KO/TKO RD 1-2 OR Decision UD RD 3

Aaaaaaaaaand thats it! I hope you enjoyed reading this P&P, I look forward to an intruiging night of high level striking, as a lot of new blood joins the KT scene. Tune in!

Interview with "The Warlord" Jory Rosewarne.

Jake is a main interviewer in Striking Masters. Today he is going to talk with Jory Rosewarne - new and future star of striking.

Jake: Hello man!

Jory: Good afternoon Jake, thanks for having me here!

Jake: How are you today? How is your health?

Jory: I'm fine right now, I busted my hand in my last fight though, took a while off of training to heal up, thank god I knocked Groce out with that hook because it went numb straight after I landed that hook!

Jake: What about next fight?
Jory: I'm aiming for the Robert Brownie Jr fight. He's a bum, and I'd slap him around, and get him out of Striking Masters. I'd drop him dead. D'you see his last fight? He got railroaded, didn't throw anything back for three rounds. If little miss Brownie wants to prove me wrong, he knows what to do. Sign the contract Bobby!

Jake: You are 2-0 in Striking Masters. Two wins by KO in first roundHave you got a special recipe for fight?

Jory: No recipe, I'm just fast, strong, and I drop you with what I hit. I have the perfect genetics for fighting. My teammates at the Team DarkSpirit Dojo have also been a big help in my last two fight camps, we live for striking.

Jake: What's your favorite sparring style?

Jory: I'm a Boxer, my entirely family are boxers, so I'd have to say that, but I also know that at this level of the game you have to have some kickboxing ability, or at least defense, so me and my team will be working on that in the future.

Jake: Is on your mind any fighter you want to fight?

Jory: Outside of Brownie Jr? Anyone, everyone, I don't duck fighters. But after whats gonna be my third KO win inside a round, I'm going to start calling for a title shot, whenever the belts are introduced here.

Jake: Who is your favorite fighter in Striking Masters?

Jory: My brother, Branok Rosewarne - I know he's only sheduled to fight here, and hasn't done so yet, but I can't pick against him. Manolito Tai Kung has really impressed me though. He's a proper bastard for sure.

Jake: Do you feel close to be the champ?

Jory: You tell me? Do I look like I have what it takes? Yes. Do I have a dangerous record to show for it? Yes. Have I heard anything concrete about the title fights coming soon? No, not yet. It's a moot point though, I'm already the champ, just unofficially.

Jake: Best fighter... What he should to have?

Jory: Power, speed, intelligence, good athletic genetics always help. Mentality is key. If you break under the slightest pressure, I don't care how big you are, or how strong you are, you'll get fucked up.

Jake: How is your mentality?

Jory: Rock Solid. That's all there is to say.

Jake: Thanks for all questions and answers, mate. Good luck and bye!

Jory: No problems Jake, you'll get to say you interviewed the future greatest KT fighter ever when he was just starting out, you're welcome.
