Stacked with four title fights, a trilogy between former Champions, the Budokai Debut of Mark Lesnar, and the return of legends like Ross Kemp and Bob fury - it is not an event to miss! To make things even better, the opening round of our Featherweight Grand Prix follows just two days later, capping off the year with a bang! Get ready for two amazing nights of fights, and a wonderful few days of festivities in between them. The opening ceremony kicked off this evening in Saitama, where all of the fighters taking part in these fantastic events were brought onto the stage and each given their time to shine. Understandably, tensions flared and some fighters needed to be separated for fears of fights breaking out but thankfully there were no such issues. Men from all corners of the globe will be coming together to prove that they have what it takes to capture glory, one way or another. JACKSON BOONE (BFF 42: BULL VS. BOONE) A superfight which saw the 7-1 Welterweight Champion Jackson Boone move up a division to take on the undefeated 9-0 Balder Bull. Both men fought through adversity in the fight that lasted just under five minutes, with Balder Bull managing to recover and finish his opponent with just a second left in the round. In the first of the Championship bouts, Budokai Breakthrough Fighter of the Year winner Ceaser El Toro re-enters the ring hoping to extend his winning streak to seven, as he faces the up-and-coming Brit, Tommy Robinson. Next, the newly crowned King of Welterweights - Roli Poli - is set to protect his thrown from the returning former MMA Helsinki Champion Bo Nickal. Thirdly, in the final of the title matches, Russia's Light-Heavyweight Champion Soda Popinski makes his tenth appearance as he hopes to dispatch the first man to ever hold that belt, former Champion Jesse Kilpatrick. Finally, We end the night with a bang, as we welcome former IXF Light-Heavyweight Champion and The Island Season 8 standout Bryan Schaub, as he takes on former Budokai FF Champion and DKCW Champion, Short Badass in the Main Event of the evening. and before all that, we have the second round of the Budokai Featherweight Grand Prix! Fight 1, Round 2 Featherweight Grand Prix Jojo "Big Party" Diaz (4-1-1, 4-0-1 BFF) vs. "Sleeping" Luis Vega (5-0-1, 1-0-0 BFF) In the first tournament match of this round we welcome back the tallest and shortest competitors remaining as Cuba's own party animal Jojo Diaz meets the small but deadly Luis Vega. With an impressive showing in the first round of the tournament that saw Diaz beat his opponent from pillar to post, there are a number of eyes on this striking specialist with many pundits believing the tournament is his to lose. Here to prove the "experts" wrong however is the young Vega, a Finnish wrestler who quickly dispatched of Mustafa Aray in the previous round in a true showing of calculated destruction. The man that finishes victorious will become the first to secure his place in the semi-finals, one step closer to Championship gold and all of its glory. Fight 2, Round 2 Featherweight Grand Prix Disco Kid (8-2-0, 1-0-0 BFF) vs. Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller (1-0-0, 1-0-0 BFF) The second tournament match sees the former MMA Helskinki Bantamweight Champion Disco Kid as he hopes to grab another win in the Featherweight division, as he faces off against the always-dangerous boxer Lewis Burwell Puller. Having already made waves throughout his career, including wins over former Champions Yeu Fei and Har Ambe, it seems that the sky is the limit for Disco Kid and many have him as the front-runner for this tournament. A striking sensation to say the least, Puller was not phased coming into this tournament having never fought in MMA before, and with the quick dispatching of Iron Sheik in round one, we know why. This is a classic grappler vs. striker match up like times of old, and one you should definitely not miss. Fight 3, Round 2 Featherweight Grand Prix Bakkes "RoadBlock" Ackerman (1-2-0, 1-0-0 BFF) vs. "The Samoan Scrapper" Malaki Fiso (5-2-0, 5-2-0 BFF) Next, we witness the 19-year old South African Bakkes Ackerman, as he attempts to become a roadblock in the path of former BFF Bantamweight Champion Malaki Fiso. known for his incredible strength despite average frame, Ackerman is a force to be reckoned with inside the cage and out, boasting great grappling skills and strong striking capabilities. Opposite him will stand "The Samoan Scrapper" and former King of the Bantamweights, Malaki Fiso, whose diverse and high-level skill-set puts him as the favourite for this one. Fiso can devastate opponents on the feet and on the ground as we have seen before, but will need to be wary of the South African's sneaky submissions if the fight hits the mat. Fight 4, Round 2 Featherweight Grand Prix Steffen Baier (6-2-0, 5-1-0 BFF) vs. Hitoshi Yoshida (3-0-1, 3-0-1 BFF) Finally, the last match in the second round will be between former Bantamweight standout Steffen Baier as he looks to dirty the unblemished record of Japanese grappling sensation Hitoshi Yoshida. The young German Baier began his Budokai career with successful run in the division below, but opted for a move up once his teammate Demian Azevedo claimed the throne there. During this run, Baier finished a number of opponents with devastating chokes, a speciality of this Berliner. Yoshida has seen similar success during his shorter career, managing to rack up wins with both submissions and knockouts, as well as a draw with the aforementioned Jojo Diaz. A fantastic career seems about to end with 3 straight losses and free fall towards the bottom. Rumours are Bull has been seen around sleazy bars more than in the gym lately. It was there he met Inuzuka. It was love at first sight, a shared love for fighting as well as a lot of frustration with downward spiralling careers to let out on both sides. Today, joining me in Tokyo is none other than "The Gypsy Prince" himself, Budokai Bantamweight Champion, Seamus MacNamara Q: Welcome to the show Seamus, let's jump right into it. 22 years old, an unblemished record of eight wins and zero losses, two title victories in BFF, three in other promotions. How good does it feel being at the top of the world, at such a young age? A: It's been unbelievable. In me young career I've already fough' all over ta world. Sydney, London, America, Helsinki, ba Japan has got ta be me favourite by a landslide. I don' feel so small here when I walk around in a crowd haha Q: I am sure you won't mind me saying that being 111 lbs, you are by far the smallest fighter on the Budokai roster. What kind of challenges present themselves as you find yourself up against men that walk around considerably heavier? Similarly, do you notice any advantages you have in these situations? A: Early on MMA journalists discredited me & saw it as a massive disadvantage ta be as small as I am. In my debut, i fough' a man who was 51 lbs bigger dan me. Ta world soon found out that when your dat small, you've ga cardio for days & lighting fas' hands & fee'. As for the downside, the casual, western MMA fan does na enjoy watching me figh'. Luckily, in Japan, that does na seem ti be da case. Q: Hailing out of a tiny town in Ireland with a population smaller than the crowds attending your fights, how does it feel being in the spotlight? I can't imagine many Bunclody natives perform in downtown Tokyo arenas often. A: Chur righ' abou' tat one Rei. For "Irish-Travellers" no one seems ta do much traveling dare. My father, grandpa, grea' grandpa, etc. would travel from town da town challenging the toughest guys at ta local taverns for money bu' none of em ever had any interes' in leaving Ireland to figh'. Tay said Ireland had the bes' fighters so there was no poin' in going anywhere else. With tat being said, I've gotten a la of suppor' from not only my family & community but from Ireland as a whole. Hell, deez pas' two fights I've spotted small groups of Irishmen ou' in ta crowd which is noots. Q: You come from a long line of Irish Travellers, a people known for their proficiency in throwing hands. How was life growing up in an always-changing environment, where fighting was the norm? A: Ta great ting about growing up in the community I did was dat you gaw ta see all the different ways people like to figh' and wha' was most effective. Fighting was all tat anyone talked about when I was kid. Whether it was my dad showing me boxing fundamentals, my Uncle showing me how ta get out of what I know now is a "Guillotine", or my neighbor showing me how once a fight hit the ground what ta do ta to get mi self back to a dominant position. Because of all dat, I had a good base before I even started training MMA. Q: There is currently no clear challenger in your division, and it is admittedly rather thin. Would you consider taking on Champions from other organisations, say JAG Champions Lincoln Storm or Brayden Point? A: Dos guys weren' even on mi radar ta be hones'. Now tat I know abou' tem fuck yeah set it up! I did have mi eye on Total Bastard (330135) doe whose fighting for da Skrap House BW strap pretty soon against a guy I've already defeated. Any of deez guys would be a grea' challenge. Q: Finally, your training partner and former BFF Bantamweight Champion Malaki Fiso is currently in the Featherweight Grand Prix, fighting this weekend in the semi-finals. Do you see him going the full way and claiming a second belt? A: For sure, he's got tat same "small town, big dreams" mindset that I do. Fresh off of an incredible flying knee victory over the previously undefeated Luis Vega, Cuba's Diaz rides into this fight with an aura of invincibility. His opponent this evening also had a dominant performance in the previous round, as Disco Kid had taken absolutely no damage when up against one of the best strikers in the promotion. Jojo Diaz is a very well-rounded fighter, boasting an expert striking arsenal as well as strong defensive grappling. He prefers to keep the fight standing, always looking to land his devastating head-kick which has knocked down or finished many of his former adversaries. It will be no surprise if Diaz comes out swinging this evening as he has the obvious advantage on the feet. Former Helsinki Bantamweight Champion Disco Kid is a heavy-handed, granite-chinned expert Wrestler dangerous in all areas of the fight. This New Yorker is known for taking opponents down, breaking them with strikes and choking them out, in addition to being a competent boxer. When faced with Bakkes "Roadblock" Ackerman in the previous round, Fiso smashed right through him, putting on a one-sided show which ended with a TKO victory for him and absolutely no damage done. Yoshida also had a great quarter-finals as he emerged victorious from an intense grappling battle with the expertly skilled Steffen Baier. Fiso is the former Budokai FF Bantamweight Champion on a quest for gold once again, and he brings with him an array of talents. With slick high-level boxing coupled with a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, "The Samoan Scrapper" is always keeping his opponents guessing by mixing up takedowns with strikes and clinch attempts. I doubt Fiso will be looking to take this one to the ground however as that is Yoshida's domain. Hitoshi is an expert on all things grappling, as he boasts incredibly dangerous skills on the mat due to his high-level Judo background, sensational wrestling and his BJJ capabilities. Riding the momentum of a three-finish streak in the tournament so far including a submission win over Jojo Diaz, New York's Disco Kid looks to become a world champion for a second time, and can do so with a win this evening. Opposite him will stand a finisher like himself, as Hitoshi Yoshida returns fresh off of a victory over former Budokai Bantamweight Champion Malaki Fiso. A very similar fighter to Kid is Tokyo's Hitoshi Yoshida - a world-class Judoka with incredibly sharp hands and a high-level grappling ability. Kento has Wonderful boxing, Exceptional Muay Thai, Remarkable wrestling and holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Kermit has Superb boxing, Proficient Muay Thai, Wonderful wrestling and holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Disco Kid will also be walking away with $175,000 as a prize for second place. I will begin scanning through the records to hand out the awards for fastest knockout and fastest submission so keep your eyes peeled for that!
