Preliminary Bout

Heavyweight Division

Paul "Boom Boom" McHeartney (0-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Cristobal "Soldier Of God" Zion (0-1-0, BFF Debut)

The very first fight in Budokai history will be between two larger-than-life Heavyweights as Mexico's own Paul McHeartney looks to hand a second straight career loss to Manila-born Cristobal Zion. McHeartney has yet to make his MMA debut so the extent of his skill is yet to be seen although scouting reports indicate that he is purely a grappler, with little to no striking experience. Zion on the other hand is seemingly a completely different fighter as he boasts a high level Muay Thai background and little to no grappling - evident by the fact he lost his first fight by submission early on. McHeartney wins if it goes to the ground, Zion wins if it doesn't.

Preliminary Bout

Middleweight Division

Andre "1 More" Lemming (0-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Larry Wusky (0-1-0, BFF Debut)

Next up we have a fight in the Middleweight division as Andre Lemming looks to begin his MMA career as he faces off against the slightly younger Larry Wusky. Blackpool-native Andre Lemming is reportedly a well rounded fighter whose specialty is his wrestling - at least according to regional talent scouts. Opposite him will stand fellow Brit, Larry Wusky, a seasoned grappler training out of Rio De Janeiro Brazil. In his debut, Wusky dropped a decision so he will no doubt come into this bout with a hunger for victory. As far as predictions go, this fight is similar to the previous, meaning that Lemming wins if the fight stays standing and Wusky does if it hits the mat.

Preliminary Bout

Lightweight Division

Ezreal "Trueshot" Explorer (0-1-0, BFF Debut) vs. Alex Grasso (0-0-0, BFF Debut)

The third fight of the evening will be in the Lightweight division where the Congolese youngster Ezreal Explorer will look for redemption as he meets Mexican striker, Alex Grasso. Explorer made his MMA debut not too long ago where he was unfortunately finished early into the bout. A wrong he will look to right this evening. To do so, he will need to put his decent striking as well as his BJJ blue belt to use. In the blue corner fighting out of Las Vegas is Alex Grasso, a young prospect who has supposedly strong boxing skills and some wrestling experience. Bookmakers have Explorer as the favourite, so it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Preliminary Bout

Lightweight Division

Alex Valentine (0-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Cristiano Diefenbach (0-0-0, BFF Debut)

In the second Lightweight bout of the evening, London's own Alex Valentine takes on an American 7 years his senior in Cristiano Diefenbach. The Brit is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt according to sources close to him, although no comment was made when asked about his stand up abilities. Diefenbach is allegedly more well-rounded than his opponent tonight, with slightly above average boxing and superb wrestling. Both of these men are yet to debut however so how this one plays out is all guesswork. We do know that Valentine will look to take the fight to mat as soon as possible though.

Preliminary Bout

Lightweight Division

Matthias Horn (0-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Box "Lips" Muncher (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

The final fight of the preliminaries is another at 155 lbs as 25 year old Matthias Horn makes his debut against the much younger Box Muncher. Horn mentioned in an interview that he is a BJJ brown belt, so we can imagine that his game will be to drag the fight to the floor where he can catch his opponent in a submission. Muncher on the other hand doesn't specialise in anything in particular and appears to have a balanced although far from elite set of skills. Muncher won his debut by ground and pound after taking his opponent down but he will run into trouble if he attempts the same strategy with Horn.

Main Card Bout

Featherweight Division

Alex Stern (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Treavon Kortez (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

To kick off the main card we have a classic striker vs. grappler match up as little powerhouse Australian Alex Stern clashes with American submission specialist Treavon Kortez. In his professional debut Stern was taken down within a minute but was let up by his opponent for some reason. This proved to be a mistake however as the Australian quickly knocked him out. One person that will not let him up is his opponent this evening, as Kortez offers no offense other than his submissions. Stern will need to keep this fight on the feet, and Kortez will need to take him down. This fight is a flip of a coin, and the takedown decides the outcome.

Main Card Bout

Welterweight Bout

Jackson "Ram" Calvert (2-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Greg "Puma" Peterson (0-0-0, BFF Debut)

Next up is a fight between two striking specialists as the 2-0 boxer Jackson Calvert takes on the yet-to-debut Muay Thai fighter Greg Peterson. Calvert has won both of this MMA fights thus far via knockout proving he has dangerous hands - also a feat that makes him one of the most experienced fighters in our young promotion. "Puma" on the other hand hasn't stepped into ring or cage yet on a professional level, but is reportedly a skilled Muay Thai fighter back home in New Haven Los Angeles. Sources close to Calvert have mentioned a lack of energy in him as of late and as a result, Peterson is the betting favourite.

Co-Main Event

Welterweight Bout

Kareem "The Bomb" Abubazi (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Myles Storm (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

And now for the co-main event of the evening. A Welterweight bout between two 25 year old studs as Israeli Kareem Abubazi is set to meets Las Vegas standout Myles Storm. Kareem won his debut after controlling his opponent for the entire 15 minutes, landing 5 takedowns in the process, but could not manage to get the submission victory. Storm is a similar fighter in that he is also a grappler, with greater wrestling and considerably better BJJ than Abubazi. Storm is a huge favourite in this fight and many pundits have him winning via submission due to the difference in grappling prowess, as well as other external factors.

Main Event

Heavyweight Bout

Martin "Pick'a'Part" Petersen (0-0-0, BFF Debut) vs. Rocky Balboa (0-0-0, BFF Debut)

The main event of Budokai's very first outing is between two larger-than-life Heavyweights as Danish sensation Martin Petersen takes on the hyped up Rocky Balboa. Neither men have debuted professionally yet but the hype surrounding this fight is greater than any other on the card, and that is due to Balboa and the following that is rallying behind him. Although speculation, Petersen is said to be a striking specialist with his base martial art being boxing. His opponent this evening, Balboa, is also a boxer with a very similar skill-set to that of Petersen. This should be a Heavyweight classic where both men will throw bombs, and one will be having an early night.

Thank you for tuning in, and we hope you nejoy the fights!

Unfortunately won't be a preview for this week as I've been busy with university module submissions. Will continue from BFF 3 though, and should have some nice material for the tournament going forward!

*Award winners are:

"I make my debut in Japan. My opponent asked for a stand up fight but he spent more time on the floor out cold. All because he KO his first opponent - very good but he not hit back. Now you feel true power and skill. Enjoy the recovery Kemp, maybe move organisation so you don't ever have to face me again. I want another fight ASAP - you listening Dutchy? Timmy need to send me a new fight, an improved offer and a title shot after I destroy my next opponent."

On March 17th 2018, the Budokai Tenkaichi Welterweight Tournament finally begins, with the opening round taking place in the heart of the bustling mega-city of Tokyo, Japan. 16 of the world's brightest young prospects will battle it out to prove that they are a part of the next generation of stars while also making the first step towards Championship gold. The winners of the opening round will move on to the second stage, where stakes are upped and pressure is doubled. From then there is only one more victory needed to become the innaugural Budokai Welterweight Champion of Japan. This is only the beginning.

zhlqMNM.png
The opening ceremony took place this evening in Shibuya, where all of the fighters were brought onto stage and announced one by one with each man given his time in the spotlight. The competitors come from all corners of the globe as 8 unique nationalities from American to Greek battle it out, reminiscent of the Grand Prix tournaments of old.
Certain fighters had to be kept away from one another as tensions flared. One such fighter was Compton-born Terrell Ward who was heard shouting expletives followed by throwing up gang signs after bumping into Boris Matusov in the green room. Poor Boris just wanted to enjoy the caviar. Upon making it on stage to the fanfare of a home crowd, Kotoya Hamasaki stared at his opponent, pointed at his arm and gestured a snapping motion - making his intentions for their fight very clear.

ERn6S8p.png
After the opening ceremony came to a close, the CEO of Budokai Fighting Federation, Rei was spotted shaking hands exchanging laughs with some important looking figures. The men had tattooed arms covered by the sleeves of their shirts and jackets but insisted to our reporters that they did not belong to the Yakuza or any similar organisations. Why they forced us to censor their faces is a mystery though.

Some men couldn't handle the after-party as well as others...
And now for an in-depth look at the upcoming fights, written by Bigby Wolf

Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Julio Regueiro (0-1-0, BFF Debut) vs Langered Hatchet (0-1-0, BFF Debut)
The first fight of BFF 3 will pit two young hungry wolves against each other. “Spanish Silk” may have lost his first career fight, but the young man from Madrid has veteran manager Randall McSweeny backing him and that’s gotta count for something. His opponent on the other side can’t count on much when it comes to his manager’s experience, but the Dubliner sure makes up for it in sheer striking power. They’re both still young and now is the moment to have that benchmark victory!
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Boris Matusov (0-1-0, BFF Debut) vs Terell Ward (MMA Debut)
The second fight of the night will prove to be a total shift in styles as we’ll see 2 of the hottest BJJ talents take each other on. Russian born Boris Matusov is everything a Russian fighter has to be. He’s strong, mean, relentless and won’t stop till you tap or stop moving. Sadly for him his first career fight ended in a disappointing loss, but he seems more than ready to start his winning streak. Heavy favourite in this one is his opponent, Terell Ward. Maffa C’s young prodigy is rumoured to have quite an impressive underground record and said to be “A lethal choke machine”. A reputation which got him the nickname “Blood Red”. It will be interesting to see if he can live up to the expectations.
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
James Cole (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Ricky Yaa (0-1-0, BFF Debut)
Cole is without a doubt a heavy favourite in his fight after his impressive start in MMA. Cole’s debut gave the fans a 3 round action packed fight in which the New Yorker knocked out Gruber in the third. With a strong arsenal of kicks and punches and a strong grappling game to match, James Cole may well be at the start an impressive career. In the other corner he’ll stare in the face of “The Relentless Ronin”, Ricky Yaa. Yaa’s MMA Debut was short lived as he tapped out in less than half a minute to Nikki Nix’ arm bar. A loss that the Tokyo resident claimed to have woken him up. It’s clear that Yaa is aiming for redemption as he has never looked in better shape according to his fans.
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Jackson Boone (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Art Mitcheltree (1-0-0, BFF Debut)
Jackson Boone is one scary man. This Bradford Beast won his first fight with a unanimous decision, but those that saw his victim after the match all said the same thing: “This fight should have been stopped”. Jackson showed a venomous dedication to dismantling the core of his opponent body, leaving Griffin nothing more than an empty shell. His opponent, Palm Springs native, Mitcheltree better heed the warning that he’s in for a fight on Saturday. Boone will prove to be a much tougher opponent than the one he faced in his first MMA fight. A fight that “Long Legs” won in less than 20 seconds. The fighter that can clinch this one will undoubtedly start making a name for himself going 2-0, for the loser it’ll be be back to training grounds!
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Shang Chi (MMA Debut) vs Kotoya Hamasaki (MMA Debut)
This one will certainly be of interest to those that love to gamble as the New York Boxing prodigy Shang Chi has been given almost 3-1 odds for this fight. Those that know him can tell you that although he may not have the strongest ground game, Chi packs a punch that can knock out anyone. That will be the key for Hamasaki, his Japanese opponent. The man from Tokyo is part of that special breed that can will put you down when they get you on the ground, but he will have to get his opponent there first!
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Nikki Nix (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Castor Antonopoulos (MMA Debut)
“The Mixedup” burst into the MMA scene last month with an inspiring win against Ricky Yaa. Those that need a recap: Yaa took down Nix and then Nix took out Yaa with an armbar. 24 seconds, that was all he needed. A lot of sceptics claim that this had more to do with his opponents’ inexperience than with Nix’ talent, but the Chicago-boy looks ready to prove all critics wrong. His opponent will be “Thunder” Antonopoulos a man that has all the makings to be fan favourite and has an extensive Muay Thai background. Manager Johnny Dangerous is really hoping for a victory in Castor’s debut because the Greek god could be his ticket to glory.
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Mark Smith (MMA Debut) vs Android Eighteen (MMA Debut)
Another banger between two hot talents. Mark Smith is only 18 years old but has already made a name for himself in Britain as a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert. Training with some of the top talents in Vegas has prepped him well for this fight and “Marky” will certainly be the crowd favourite. In the other corner we’ll find Android Eighteen. A young man from Arundel that has done well in high school amateur wrestling and moved to Rio de Janeiro the day he became 18 to study BJJ. There’s no telling which of these two will win, but they both look like they have a bright MMA-future ahead of them.
Tournament Bout
Welterweight Division
Lee Sin (MMA Debut) vs Erik Pedersen (MMA Debut)
Two debutants looking to end each other’s career early. “The Fist of God” Lee Sin has been trained in a wide array of Martial arts in Yokohama since he was just a little boy and everyone in Japan has really high hopes for him. His first test in MMA will be against the Scandinavian wonderboy Erik Pedersen, who has been generating quite a bit of buzz as well. Pedersen was contracted by manager Gran Brophy a few years back, a manager that has already had such a rich and successful career that basically any fighter coming out of his stable will have all eyes on him. One fighter will light the hopes of a nation and at the same time crush the dreams of one as well!
------------------------------Non-Tournament Bouts------------------------------
Preliminary bout
Heavyweight Division
Bernd Obermueller (MMA Debut) vs Abdul Ahmad (MMA Debut)
Two late bloomers having their first MMA fight in this one. Obermueller is favoured by the bookies, probably because of his stronger ground game. His opponent “The Afghan Bear”, Hamad has had some local success in the Muay Thai circuit and is not to be underestimated. It’ll be interesting to see how these two launch their heavyweight career in the BFF.
MAIN EVENT
Light Heavyweight Division
Iggy Elsdon (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Daniel Coker (MMA Debut)
The uppercut that changed the face of MMA and destroyed the face of Rick Scott. That’s what lit the fire under Iggy Elsdons’ career. The Youtube clip of his devastating blow went viral and earned him the nick name “King Kong”. Elsdon will have some mighty big shoes to fill if he wants to live up to the hype, but at least it got him into the main event of BFF 3. His opponent, Russian born Daniel Coker, is relatively unknown in the world of MMA, insiders claim he’s a strong boxer that can take a punch and has some powerful wrestling manoeuvres in his bag of tricks. This fight will have people all over tuning in and will without a doubt set Habayashi’s Lounge Ablaze!

As you all know, round 1 took place this evening in Tokyo, Japan and the results are in. All 8 of the tournament bouts (and the 2 additional bouts) ended via finish, with the majority in the first round - showing just how destructive these new young stars can be when pushed to the limit. Congratulations to those who progress in the bracket and commiserations to those who have suffered defeats.

BFF 4: Ward vs James

Preview by Bigby Wolf

Preliminary bout 1

Middleweight Division

Kyrie Irving (0-1-0, BFF Debut) vs Toki Yo (0-1-0, BFF Debut)

BFF 4 will kick off with two fighters with a lot to prove. Australian Kylie Irving will have to prove that he can take his opponent out with his massive array of Muay Thai shots before he gets taken to the ground. His opponent Toki Yo on the other hand needs to prove that he can finish his fights when he gets a chance, as his first MMA dance saw him losing a unanimous decision. “Sushiface’s” main shortcoming seems to be the lack of an expert trade. He’s a decent boxer, pretty good at Muay Thai and a respectable wrestler but he lacks that certain edge in one area that makes you win fights. We’ll just have to see if he can prove the critics wrong.

Preliminary bout 2

Heavyweight Division

Bryan Micon (MMA Debut) vs Jaa Maa (0-1-0, BFF Debut)

Bryan Micon may be only 18 years of age, but his nickname “The Icon” was definitely not stolen. Born and raised on the streets of Detroit he quickly became a Jiu Jitsu expert and one of the most talented fighters in the US. He may be a little too young and lacking experience in the big leagues to take on the top fighters, but he should have a chance in this one. Facing him in Tokyo will be Jaa Maa, an absolute beast of a man, standing at 2,18m. Jaa Maa is an all-rounder that can dish it out with the boxers and grapple with the wrestlers, but he’ll need to prove that he can use his size to dominate his opponents. A feat he couldn’t accomplish in his first MMA bout.

Preliminary bout 3

Middleweight Division

Touko Pouko (MMA Debut) vs Remy Zen (MMA Debut)

In a few years this fight may be a title fight watched by millions around the world, but for now it’s two young debutants taking each other on in a true clash of the future titans. “Toukis” Pouko was the absolute future of boxing in Finland until he decided to switch over to MMA. A balanced boxer, with a mean punch and a devastating uppercut to match, he’s a pleasure to watch in any ring. In the opposing corner he’ll find the young Remy Zen, the first hope Belgium had of a Muay Thai superstar, who also decided to move over to the MMA. Zen is known for his killer kicks and moves remarkably fast for a guy his size. With both these guys lacking a ground game this will be a stand up fight. The one that goes down will be the one that’s knocked out!

Preliminary bout 4

Middleweight Division

Jonathon Crane (MMA Debut) vs Marcos Lourosa (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

There’s very little we know about Crane. Dubbed “The Scarecrow” by his fans and fighting out of Gotham City, Jonathon is said to be a master of all crafts. That’s always a good description to add to your bio, but he will need it if he plans to take down his opponent. Staring back at him inside the cage will be Marcos Lourosa. The Brazilian is an absolute submission expert and showed his ability to the world last February in making Gene Bennet tap out. “Funkero” is the heavy favourite in this one and should be able to make his opponent tap out once again.

Preliminary bout 5

Heavyweight Division

Aleksander Benton (4-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Torn Karlsson (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

Aleksander Benton is probably the hottest signing BFF did since they started. The American burst into the MMA scene with 4 straight wins, crowning himself the QFC Tournament 833 champion. Even more impressive was the way in which he won the tournament. Being a submission and wrestling expert himself, he managed to win every fight with TKO for strikes or cuts. That’s right, he’s 4-0 and he hasn’t even opened up his bag of submission tricks. All of this does not look too well for his opponent from Sweden. Torn Karlsson is without a doubt a talented fighter and he has all the makings of becoming a KO-master, because when the “Swedish Mamba” strikes future generations can feel the hit. And that’s where the key to victory lies for Karlsson. He can’t be intimidated by his opponent. He needs to knock Benton out before Benton gets a hold of him!

Preliminary bout 6

Bantamweight Division

Geno Chartier (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Marcos Sanchez (MMA Debut)

Geno Chartier knows damn well what he’s doing and where he’s going. He’s a strong amateur boxer, a respected wrestler and has been training extensively in BJJ. This led to a first round victory in his MMA debut and a contract here at BFF. He still has a lot to prove, but a win in this fight would open up the doors to bigger and better things for the man from Sioux City. However, his opponent Marcos Sanchez should not be underestimated. Sanchez is powerful ball of lightning quick energy that is ready to knock your ass down if you let your guard slip for just a second. Ready to try his hand at MMA, 18 year old “Black Magic” can become a real threat if he can develop his skills even further. A good start for him would be a victory in his MMA Debut.

Main Card Bout 1

Lightweight Division

Vsevolod Pasternak (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Silvio Balan (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

We’re in for a rassling match with this one. Two fighters who are trained so extensively in exactly the same area can either give us an exciting match or a snoozer. “Invisible” Pasternak looks like the favourite in this one because of his more extensive BJJ background. An array of manoeuvres that his opponent does not possess and will possibly give him the edge he needs. Silvio Balan, his 18 year old Romanian opponent, is often said to be too much of a one-dimensional fighter to really make an impact in MMA. That might be true, but Balan is the kind of grappler that can make anyone submit once he gets his hands on them, and with his opponent lacking the KO-power needed to take the Romanian out, he’ll have no option than to get in close and that’s the way Balan likes it!

Main Card Bout 2

Heavyweight Division

Rocky Balboa (0-1-0 BFF) vs Frank Mir (MMA Debut)

You know what to expect when you see the name Rocky Balboa on the poster. Balboa is a great puncher with the strongest chin in all of boxing. In the MMA however this did him little good, when he made his debut at BFF 1. He gave Martin Petersen a great fight, but he could not get the job done, losing the fight with a unanimous judges’ decision. If he wants to get his MMA career going, he’ll need to do better this time around. His opponent, Frank Mir is an all-round phenomenon ready to set the MMA universe on fire. Mir is a master in every aspect of the MMA-game and will pose a threat to everyone that steps into the ring with him. This may be his first bout, but everyone’s certain that he has a bright future ahead of him.

Co-main Event

Featherweight Division

Yeu Fei (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Andrew Stern (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

What a fight this one will be! Yeu Fei Is the Chinese master of Muay Thai, ready to make his name in the MMA. His first fight was an absolutely mismatch in which Fei took out Explorer in little over a minute. The power and accuracy of Yeu’s punches is has never been seen before and if he can continue to dominate his opponents in this way, we’re looking at a future title holder. But that’s a path that will have to go through another Muay Thai phenom: Andrew Stern. The Londoner burst into the scene with an epic battle against the more experienced Russel Bell, and showed the whole world that he can both dish out and take punishment like an MMA-veteran. Slamming out his opponent at the end of the second round, scored him a first W in the world of MMA, and we’re certain there are many more to come.

MAIN EVENT

Lightweight Division

Killa Ward (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Rick James (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

We’re in for an absolute technical masterpiece in our main event. In one corner we have a jiu jitsu expert. Killa Ward is a sick brawler with an even more twisted technique. Known for his “Mental” submission manoeuvres, the creativity and effort that Killa Ward displays when he gets into that ring is out of this world and could well be the start of a phenomenal career. He’ll be put the test when he steps into the ring march 23rd with Rick James. The man from Buffalo’s first MMA fight raised a lot of eyebrows, because where on earth had this guy been all his life. Coming into the world of MMA at 25, James gave a masterclass in how to dismantle your opponent in 5 minutes. Chaney could do nothing but try to escape as James got him down on the ground and pounded him into submission, like a python subduing his pray. With two fighters that are so talented and dedicated to their craft going head to head there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that this is the fight you can’t miss!

BUDOKAI FIGHTING FEDERATION

BFF 5: Peterson vs Oceanus

Preview by Bigby Wolf

Preliminary bout 1

Middleweight Division

Robert Saccamano (0-1-0, BFF Debut) vs Andre Lemming (0-1-0 BFF)

We’ll kick off BFF 5 with a fight between two fighters currently training in Rio de Janeiro. Saccamano is without a doubt the underdog in this fight and will have lots to prove after a disappointing loss by unanimous decision in his MMA debut. “Hype Bro” is a solid all-rounder, but lacks the killer instinct that makes you win fights. Hopefully he’s finding that edge while preparing his upcoming match in Brazil. His opponent Andre Lemming was on display at BFF 1. Although he lost fairly quickly to Larry Wusky, he fought a solid bout. Lemming has a strong ground game and packs a pretty decent punch. Hopefully that punch will give him an edge over his opponent as they seem very evenly matched on the floor.

Preliminary bout 2

Welterweight Division

Khusein Kadyrev (MMA Debut) vs Bobby Brown (0-1-0, BFF Debut)

“Chechen Wolf” Khusein Kadyrev in his first MMA-fight. If his debut will look anything like that of his twin brother Khabib, his opponent is in for one tough bout. Unlike his brother, Khusein is a pure striker, well versed in both boxing and muay thai. But Khuseins’ lack of a ground game might cause him some problems against Bobby Brown. Brown is strong all-rounder with a strong arsenal of submissions. “Coca” is also very hungry to get that first MMA win here at the BFF.

Preliminary bout 3

Bantamweight Division

James Ardona (MMA Debut) vs Kiril Kadyrev (MMA Debut)

This could well be the surprise match of the evening. Two dynamic bantamweights making their debut, both of them well-rounded fighters. In one corner we’ll find James Ardona. The Philippine brawler has worked his way up from the Muay Thai youth academies and has been studying Jiu-Jitsu extensively during his training in Tokio. Strong in every aspect of the fighting game he may lack the true lethal weapons one needs to win at the top level, but he should never be taken lightly. He’ll be facing the second, but not the last, Kadyrev brother you’ll see this evening. Kiril or “Lil Ruskie” is the smallest of the Kadyrev brothers and probly the most twisted of the lot. An absolute tornado in the ring he’s rumoured to be able to “take you down, knock you out and make you submit” all at once. A fight to look forward to!

Preliminary bout 4

Light Heavyweight Division

Alexander Jackson (MMA Debut) vs Allen Vick (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

Anyone who knows anything about the New York muay thai scene know Alexander Jackson. An absolute kickboxing master with an awesome punch, lightning fast kicks paired with deadly knees and elbows. This man looks destined to become an MMA-great, but he still has a lot to prove. At first glance his opponent “Godzilla Dick” Vick looks heavily outmatched in this one. Vick won his first fight with a quick first round KO, but Jackson won’t go down as easily as Ramon Hyde. If Vick is to win this fight he will have to take Jackson to the ground, an environment where he is less skilled and Vick will stand a chance.

Preliminary bout 5

Welterweight Division

Justice James (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Stanley Steele (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

You can almost be certain that this one will be epic as we’ll see a young submission artists square off against the Australian master of the clinch. Justice James had an inspiring start to his MMA-career, winning his first fight with a quick Americana submission. The Visalia-born Jiu-Jitsu fighter is one of the most flexible combatants to step into a ring and he looks in spectacular shape for this one. He’ll be up against one of the strongest grapplers to come from Australia in Stanley Steele. “The Knife” had an absolute domination victory in his debut. It ended in a decision, but that was probably because he didn’t let go of his opponent. Steele clinched onto his opponent and beat the living crap out of him. After 15 minutes he put his opponent down, raised his hands and that was it. There’s no telling which style will be victorious is this fight but it will be a very interesting fight to say the least.

Preliminary bout 6

Heavyweight Division

Master Shake (MMA Debut) vs Paul Mchartney (1-0-0 BFF)

The relatively unknown Master Shake will be in for a challenge when he steps into the ring on Saturday. The 18 year old boxer, currently residing in Las Vegas is without a doubt talented enough to make it in this league, but still has a long way to go. He’s a good boxer, with a strong punch and if the fight goes his way he’s a constant KO-threat. But he’s up against a man that won a lot of people over at BFF 1: Paul Mcheartney. Mexican “Boom Boom” had the fight of the night and the submission of the night as he destroyed Cristobal Zion. In less than a minute he had his opponent down on the mat and tapping out to his dreaded arm triangle. If Paul can take his opponent down as quickly as in his last fight, chances are he’ll be earning another quick payday.

Main Card Bout 1

Lightweight Division

Jonas Hansen (MMA Debut) vs Ras Abilgardn (MMA Debut)

It’s difficult to say what we can expect from these two as we haven’t seen them compete yet, but one thing is for sure: these guys are both built for the kill. Hansen is a lean tall kickboxer with amazing BJJ-skills and looks to be the heavy favourite. His opponent Abilgardn is a giant in his weight class, standing at 190cm. His long reach helps his boxing, making him a threat from the outside, but he also has the wrestling skills to dominate his opponent in both the clinch and on the ground. Betting has been in favour of Hansen, but the great Dane should not be underestimated.

Main Card Bout 2

Light Heavyweight Division

Sean Whelan (1-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Grady Froelich Jr (MMA Debut)

Heavy favourite to win this one and to become one of the top contenders in this weight division is undoubtedly Sean “Scorcher” Whelan. The Irishman slapped his first MMA-opponent silly for almost 4 minutes until he decided to put him out of his misery with a spinning backfist. A hit so devastating Brutus Troy’s cheek was shattered. He’ll be up against a tougher challenge in Froelich. “Junior” is the type of fighter that can come at you from all angles. Having trained in Helsinki has made him tough enough to take some punishment, but it remains uncertain that he has the power to take Whelan out and that will be necessary. There is no way Grady will survive to win by decision so he will need to go on the offensive!

Co-main Event

Middleweight Division

Khabib Kadyrev (2-0-0, BFF Debut) vs Larry Wusky (1-1-0, 1-0-0 BFF)

Our third and final Kadyrev brother of the evening. Khabib has been the one to set the bar for his brothers. With two victories under his belt, Khabib has already proven his strength, but he’ll undoubtedly feel the need to stay ahead of his brothers. “Chingonsky” is the son of a warlord and is known for his deadly array of skills. A great striker, a fearsome grappler and a deadly submission artist compiled into one murderous Russian package. His opponent Larry Wusky knows what he’s in for if he wants to start a streak in the BFF. After his first submission victory in BFF 1 it looks as if Wusky is ready to take it up a notch. With a strong grappling and submission game he can be just as lethal as his Russian opponent, but he needs to take his opponent down and wear him out. If he can manage to do that early on, he should be able to create the opening he needs to make his opponent tap, but it won’t be easy.

MAIN EVENT

Welterweight Division

Greg Peterson (1-0-0 BFF) vs Vladimir Oceanus (1-0-0, BFF Debut)

Our main event is a classic in the making, with two impressive young fighters that both won their first career fight. Peterson went for 20 minutes in his MMA debut here at BFF, and showed everyone that he will be around for a very long time. He’s a strong puncher with one of the meanest kicks we’ve seen in out ring so far. The only thing that he’s yet to prove is that he can dish out punishment when his opponent gets him down on the map, because that might be the “Puma’s” Achilles heel. His opponent Vladimir Oceanus did not spend that much time in the ring in his MMA-debut. In what was an impressive display in speed and agility he took out Boris Matusov with an Arm Triangle in less than 2 minutes. However “The Titan” has not yet face a striker with the power of Greg Peterson and we’ll have to see if he’ll be able to react if one of those heavy punches connects.

BFF 10: Major vs. Haus

Post-Event Recap

The results:

Backstage after the event, we at MMAMemedia.com caught a word with CEO and owner Rei, who was seen to be in fouler spirits than usual, no doubt due to the results of tonight's event.

gdYvTh8.png

Q: Your 10th event has just come to a close, what are your general feelings now that its over?

A: To be honest, I'm not impressed. We had Boxers grappling for 20 minutes, guys flailing around throwing nothing but combos, a Main Event that had the crowd falling asleep & a no contest due to a fat bastard not making weight.

Q: News broke that earlier today, hours before the event kicked off - you managed to secure a deal with a merchandise partner. How did that come about?

A: Mmhm. We are now partnered with the world-renowned Arcticus University who will be providing merchandise for our events going forward. We hope to release some execlusive Budokai fight-wear in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Q: Are there any positives you can take away from tonight, despite a number of less than amazing performances?

A: Yeah, I now get to go and drink away my memory of this event. Tim and I are going to abuse Nomihoudai (all you can drink) at our favourite joint.

Q: Before I let you go, I've got to ask - did any of the fighters that won tonight edge any closer to a title-shot?

A: I don't even want to think about that right now. Alicarte maybe? I tried to track down his manager but no luck there. Anyway, I'm gone. Seeya

That's all we could get out of him folks.

Now sponsored by Arcticus University: London. check out their great range of high quality designs for affordable costs.
