Underworld 2 Preview: Ziadouh Vs Tyson

FighterEliteMMA

If the first instalment of Underworld is anything to go by, this Saturday May 30 will be a sure fire hit! The Underground hosts the event once more and with this kind of card on offer, any die hard GAMMA or GAMMA Kids fan who misses out on seeing these rookies in action will severely regret it.

The super-heavyweight and light-heavyweight titles will find champions all before the main event which has two of the best 265+ lbs fighters GKNY has to offer close out the night. All main card fighters are ranked in the top 10 in their respected divisions, and any fight could be a main event poster header on any other card.

Underworld events are a monthly GKNY super-card event sponsored by none other than Underworld Clothing, the only place for all your Underworld Clothing needs. The Underworld events allow fighters to win added prizes for their respective managers, by simply wearing, and/or thanking and being sponsored by the top 5 ranked clothing company post fight.

The exact details are:

Winning fighter wearing Underworld clothing - $500 (Per Piece)

Winning fighter wearing GKNY branded Underworld clothing - $1000 (Per Piece)

Winning fighter sponsored by Underworld and thanks them post fight - $2500

All money earned will go directly to the managers of the fighters.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the fights heading into Underworld 2.

[Main Event] (265+ lbs) #8 Ziadouh v #2 Tyson

Ivan Ziadouh is entering into his second fight with GKNY and will be looking to notch up his first win and his fourth overall finish (2 TKO’s, 1 sub). The Russian’s first fight was a third round KO loss to current #3 ranked super-heavyweight Castor Rollins, his first overall, after an efficient run of 3 straight wins with Epicity Productions in Vegas.

“The Bulldog” has already shown himself to be a world class boxer, his last two wins coming by way of referee stoppage due to his accurate striking. The Legion of Doom affiliated fighter also has some grappling skill to add, but his opponent has shown he’s no slouch either with his stand-up and may just have the edge when it comes to wrestling.

Mike Tyson is eyeing back to back wins since his move to GKNY last month, his first fight a KO victory over Dave Gilly at the first Underworld event. It was a solid brawl that ended just after a minute into the first round with an uppercut from hell, and had Gilly out before he hit the canvas.

The Jersey born fighter training with World Combat Sports Academy in New York, will look to add another KO victory to his already stacked record of 8 TKO (3 KO’s) finishes from 8 wins. “Iron” already has 2 KO of the night awards to his name, and another one here could solidify the #2 ranked super-heavyweight as the undisputed #1 contender at 265+ lbs.

Both fighters are primarily stand-up guys so we can probably expect this one to play out on their feet, and both have legitimate knock out power. Overall, Ziadouh is a little more rounded with his skillset and could add some Muay Thai striking and possibly even take the fight to the ground, having a submission victory by armbar to his name in his very first fight.

Tyson is a strong grappler though and his 8 KO victories should be a real concern for Ziadouh. If Tyson wins he sets up a future fight with either Putin or Rollins for the title, and if Ziadouh wins he pounces from #8 up the ladder and makes a strong push toward the gold. A must see headliner between GKNY’s super-heavyweights!

[Co-Main Event] (205 lbs) #6 Hardy v #2 BatzCastelmore – Light-Heavyweight Title Fight

Marcus Hardy is on a 3 fight win streak, impressively finishing all of those fights in the first round, and will be seeking his third straight win since adding his name to the GKNY light-heavyweight division. Both fights ended with Hardy on top laying down some strong ground and pound. “Adonis” has spent a majority of his professional MMA career so far on top in the mount, with his opponent eating punches in bunches.

The Irishman, training with The Factory in New York, has respectable boxing to add to his grappling game, and a submission win in his very first fight. This will be his toughest fight to date though, as he’s going up against another promising undefeated fighter for the title.

Charles BatzCastelmore is also looking for his third straight win inside the GKNY cage, his third overall, both coming by way of TKO strikes. The Frenchman’s last victory came against Mick Dundee at Underworld 1 that had the Aussie tapping out after copping a barrage of BatzCastelmore’s heavy handed punches.

“D’Artagnan” trains with Montreal Elite Gym, his powerful striking and lethal head kicks a real danger to anyone that steps into the cage against him, and adds a grappling game to the mix that’s on par with his opponent in his upcoming title fight.

The Irishman was cut in both his fights with GAMMA Kids, and the Frenchman was also cut once which could play a factor if the fight does actually go a few rounds. Between them though, all 5 of their fights have been finished and I expect this to be no different.

What Hardy lacks in Muay Thai, BatzCastelmore makes up for with deadly kicks, otherwise both opponents match up evenly. This title fight will propel one fighter to the top of the light-heavyweight food chain, and whomever walks away with the 205 lbs belt should do so in spectacular fashion.

Edwin "Drake" Jordan

"So I got this little fight on the 13th. Some Chump whose names not worth remembering or mentioning, Haven't been taking it all that seriously, you know, missed a couple of practices, binging on my abuelas Kipe, because lets face it, dude is no match for me. On June 13th, 2015 live on GKNY 9, I will put down this pretender and Andy will pay me fabulously like he always does. Then, on June 27th, I got a date with destiny. On June 27th, I walk into The Underground, enter that sacred cage and challenge the winner of the Matrix and Landry fight but it doesn't matter who wins because as soon as I get my paws on thier jaws someone is going night night. So Mr. Leigh, if you want a show, want to be entertained, you can come find myself, my boy Lenny, and my nephew Mavito on June 27th in the front row shooting the shit. Toda la gloria a Dios! Rankings Report: GKNY Featherweights

FighterEliteMMA

The Featherweight division in GKNY is one of the deepest and most exciting divisions in the organization. Top to bottom it provides exciting fights and truly brings out all types of martial artists coming together to go to war in the cage. This is the GKNY rankings report for the Featherweight Division.

Champion: Tony Ramos (4-0-0)
Tony Ramos, the current GKNY Featherweight champion, is a force to be reckoned with at 145 pounds. With all 4 of his wins coming via (T)KO he has some of the heaviest hands in the division. He is undefeated in official fights, his only loss coming via Submission in TWGC 5. He made his professional debut back in January for the Gamasi Fighting Company. He defeated current GKNY fighter Matt Pacquiao via TKO in the second round. Since that fight, he has never been out of the first round, finishing all of his opponents in the first 3 minutes. He won the GKNY belt at Underworld 1, defeating Yoshio Yamamoto with a resounding Knockout in the First round. He does not currently have a fight scheduled, but it will be interesting to see who he will face in his first title defense.

Glad you like it. I'm looking forward to Innokenti's debut. Souza has a tough first match in Snuka, yet he's not a write off by any means. Underworld 2 is geared up to be the best card so far, hopefully it lives up to expectations!

I see the division has a champ now. Hey Frenchie, I've got a great idea. You vs me to decide who the real champ is.

Matchmaker, set up that fight and lets give the fans the fight they all want to see . Napoleon , the bloody guy from France, tried to invade Russia in 1812. The poor fella made a fool out of himself and I'll make you look like a fool as well. We Russians are very good at making french people look like clowns. Not much needed for that, since they already speak a bloody awfull and funny language, smell like shit and everyone laughs with them!

Underworld 2 de-brief

Last night saw 2 new title holders aswell as breaking the org rating record and breaking 100 for the first time.

The only fighter to take advantage of the underworld bonuses on offer was Alex Rodriguez who wore 2 pieces of GKNY clothing aswell as thanking his sponsor which netted his manager a $4500 bonus.

Of the night bonuses were bumped up to $2000 and went to

FOTN - Parker vs Garcia

KOOTN - Putin

SOTN - Melet

Well done everyone on the card a great fight from all and great to see the org going in the right direction. I'm looking forward to reading Adam's review.

Underworld 3 will take place on 27/06/15 so make sure if you have fighters on that card you drop by our merch partners store to pick up some gear and ensure you get that added bonus!

Underworld 2 a big hit; 2 new champs

FighterEliteMMA

It was the best event of GKNY to date, and a promising sign for the newly operational GAMMA franchise, GAMMA Kids NY. New York’s The Underground was packed and then some, various fight fans later confirming they had snuck in without a ticket; one of them bounced from the venue after she elbowed a male fighter in response to an ass grab.

2 titles were fought over, and 2 fighters walked away with their first taste of gold in what has become the best received event so far. Of the winners, a new #1 GKNY P4P fighter emerged and many more proved they have what it takes to be successful with GAMMA, and maybe 1 day move on to the premier Las Vegas based promotion.

Underworld 2 has set high standards for events to come and the Underworld Clothing sponsored event has become a great monthly must-see for New York’s GKNY fight fans.

So, let’s take a closer look at how things unfolded on this big night.

[Main Event] Ziadouh def Tyson by TKO (Strikes) at 01:26 of Round 1

Ivan Ziadouh (4-1) put his world class boxing on display, notching his first win with GKNY and 4th in his last 5 outings with a big TKO to become the #1 super-heavyweight contender.

It was all the Russian from the get go, cutting his opponent early on and limiting him to just 2 punches before he let loose with a brutal right hook to end the fight in the first round, his 3rd first round finish and 3rd TKO.

“The Bulldog” has had a strong start to his career, going undefeated with Epicity Productions in Vegas before joining the GAMMA feeder. The infamous Mentor Corleone manages the Legion of Doom fighter, who is now 1-1 since joining the GAMMA franchise.

Mike Tyson (8-5) came into the fight with only 1 fight lasting longer than the first round, and chalks up the 12th time he hasn’t seen a second round in 13 bouts. “IRON” records his 5th loss and is now 1-1 since joining GAMMA Kids and has dropped a fair few places with the loss, tumbling out of GKNY’s top 20 P4P fighters and is now #5 in the division.

Tyson made it known this result wouldn’t deter him, saying: “I’m going to come back stronger and more vicious than ever. I’m going to implement a brand new regiment to become more dangerous than ever.”

The winner, Ziadouh, made quick work of his post-fight interview before leaving the GKNY cage, simple stating: “Who's next?!”

[Co-Main Event] BatzCastelmore def Hardy by TKO (Strikes) at 01:23 of Round 1 to win the GKNY Light-Heavyweight title

Saying Charles BatzCastelmore (3-0) had a good night would be an understatement. The Frenchman went home with the 205 lbs title, in the process adding another TKO to his record (3), first round finish (2), has now won 3 in a row and is undefeated as a professional MMA fighter.

"D’Artagnan" ended up with the third fastest finish of the night in a fight he absolutely dominated. The new light-heavyweight champ landed 94% of his strikes, which included 4 nicely timed combos and a head kick.

Marcus Hardy (3-1) did manage a takedown after he was rocked to steady himself, but moments later the fight was back standing and BatzCastelmore was just too good with his striking, a combo knocking Hardy down once, then once more before his killer instinct kicked in and the ref had to end the fight.

The win puts a champ in the light-heavyweight division, the first to hold the belt. BatzCastelmore takes the #4 GKNY P4P spot and may be set to take on the #2 contender, Alexy Innokenti, or the newly signed Gerry Kelly. Hardy drops to #10 on the 205 lbs rankings ladder.

Hardy summed things up nicely with his post-fight speech: “It was a great fight. Both of us knew going in it was gonna be tough and I think we showcased that tonight. He just happened to get the better of me tonight.”

"It's tough after you loose a couple of fights but I feel that a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. When you loose multiple fights in a row your mind isn't in the right place and you start thinking about things. Thankfully I got my first GKNY win and I hope to get some more.

"Congratulations on a good win. That gives you a great opportunity against TKO specialist Mike Tyson on 4 July. He's coming off a loss and is 2-4 in his last 6 appearances. He'll be looking for a win to get some momentum going, how do you think you'll do?"

Lenny "Otto" Williams

"Late night here at the LOD Performance Center, where we work hard 24/7. Not really thinking about my upcoming fight, because no matter how good Cannon Boy may be, he has never felt power like mine. He has got TKO'd once, on Saturday 6/13 at Wild Bob's Bar, I will shatter his jaw and his confidence. However, I didn't here come here to talk shit about some pendejo who doesn't matter. Sometime in the near future my brother by all but blood will defeat the winner of Matrix and Landry to become the Middleeweight Champion. When that happens, I will never fight my brother, so I have decided to move to the 205 division after this next fight. 205! I'm coming! Toda la gloria a Dios! Soy un guerrero de por vida!

GKNY 9 Preview: MC Vs Sphinx

FighterEliteMMA

GKNY goes back to Wild Bob's Bar in New York this Saturday June 13 for GKNY 9: MC Vs Sphinx. GAMMA, Underworld Clothing and Combet LOD are on board as usual and bring you the first of 3 events GKNY will host in New York this June.

Coming off a massive Underworld 2 event, it’ll be a tall order for any card to follow in regards to ratings. Having said that, GKNY 9 isn’t one to miss. There are solid even match-ups throughout that give fight fans and GAMMA heads the opportunity to see what the future has to offer.

The main card is chock full of top 15 contenders, so much so they spill over into the prelims. We’ll see 6 top 5 contenders throughout the top 5 fights alone, including the final time a featherweight fights in a MMA cage.

This all precedes the main reason the card exists, to see who will finally take home the last vacant title GKNY has to offer. The lightweight title will be decided, a champion crowned and a legacy bolstered.

So, let’s delve deeper and inspect the fights on offer this weekend.

[Main Event] (155 lbs) #4 MC v #2 Sphinx – Lightweight Title Fight

Hesa MC (2-0) is headlining in his first main card appearance and looking to stay undefeated whilst he battles to become the first ever GKNY lightweight champion. If he wins it’ll be back-to-back and 3 straight since signing with the New York rookie organization.

Last time out the Iranian got his hand raised in a judge’s decision over #12 155 pounder Gary Tonon at GKNY 5. “Njurmi” was a pit-bull in the clinch, really dominating and overshadowing the fight with his aggression and in close fighting as he threw 123 strikes and landed 70 (57%) compared to Tonon’s extremely accurate 12 of 13 (92%) all while stuffing an impressive 26 of 27 (96%) takedowns.

MC is a little ways back in the overall scheme of things, sitting at #42 on the GKNY P4P rankings list but as it’s still relatively early on, his third win here will net him the prize all are vying for in the lightweight division, the GKNY 155 lbs title.

The Midnight MMA gym member lives and trains in New York and as was evident in his first outing with GKNY, his Muay Thai is a real weapon his opponents should be wary of. Add to the mix decent elbows, proficient wrestling and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt and he’s a real chance come Saturday.

Jimmy Sphinx (6-2) has been rolling strong after a nervous first 2 fights and is on track to win his 7th straight and go 3 of 3 with New York’s GAMMA feeder.

Coming off 2 straight award reaping appearances (1 Fight of the night award, 2 Sub of the night awards) to kick-start his run with the GAMMA conglomerate, the Chicago native has a high dose of confidence to match his scorching 6 fight win streak.

“The Calculator” held the top spot in GKNY’s lightweight division before Robert Sito moved over from fellow New York fighting organization Immortals. Unlike his relatively inexperienced opponent, Sphinx is a top 20 GKNY P4P fighter and currently sits at #18 on the list.

The American moulds his craft with Ironfist MMA in St Petersburg, Russia, and the highlight of his skillset would be the brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu he’s received. 5 of his 6 wins have been submissions (3 armbar’s, arm triangle, guillotine) and 4 of those have come in the first round. Solid boxing and a great offensive ground game off his back are the main tools he’s known to use.

The GKNY lightweight title will find itself a champion after all is said and done, and both fighters stand a good chance. MC has the goods to really bring the noise and dominate in close with his May Thai and Sphinx is a very dangerous ground fighter.

It’ll be a night to remember for one in which the newly signed Robert Sito will be keeping a close eye on.

[Co-Main Event] (185 lbs) #5 Williams v #8 Boy

Lenny Williams (3-0) has started well in his MMA career under the GKNY and will be seeking his 4th straight first round KO/TKO domination.

“Otto” has spent a little over 2 minutes in the cage combined in his first 3 fights as a pro, finishing all 3 opponents before the minute mark of each bout. His TKO (strikes) finish of Wicked Waldo in just 20 seconds in his debut is his fastest and he averages 51.5 seconds a fight with GKNY.

The New Yorker’s domination since joining GAMMA Kids has catapulted him into the top tier of the middleweight division and currently sits at #27 on the GKNY P4P fighters list. His first 2 appearances since signing on with GAMMA’s #1 feeder have been pretty much identical, both ending around the 50 second mark and both stoppages coming about due to his powerful right hand.

Williams fights under the Legion of Doom name and trains with their prestigious LOD: Performance Center in New York. His solid boxing and powerful hands have already earned him a ‘KO of the night’ award and the 19 year old’s grappling is really coming along. Although a real danger on his feet, his opponent will give him just as much trouble.

Cannon Boy (5-1) comes into this bout with one loss and will be looking to get another win streak going in his 4th appearance with GKNY. So far he’s 2-1 since making the move to a professional organization and will be aiming to keep his 100% finish streak alive.

After a loss in his first headliner event against Finkle John at GKNY 4, New York resident and Montreal born “Chicken” bounced back with a solid showing against Denis Stevenson in which he stuffed 100% of his opponent’s takedowns, before ending the fight with a crisp right hand and follow-up punches.

Boy is currently the #8 middleweight contender and has 4 first round finishes to his name which include 2 KO’s (punch, punches) and 3 TKO’s (3x strikes).

The Canadian-American trains with Abomination Training in New York where his gym members can confirm his solid boxing is where he shines the most and has shown positive signs with his defensive grappling.

This is gearing up to be a battle of the hands with both fighters having not needed a single judge’s score in their 8 collective wins, all ending via way of KO/TKO. Williams does have more in the way of grappling and Muay Thai striking, and both have their blue belt in BJJ.

Based on dominance alone Williams has been tearing it up and has already finished a top 10 middleweight. I’d put Williams as the favourite going in, yet Boy will be his toughest competition so far. A solid co-main event that will push the winner close to the #1 contender spot.
