While computer games are generally not associated with athletes, I know theres a couple guys on here that have tried mma. Whats the athletic ability of everyone here?

Personally, I play baseball at a small college. Ive been wanting to try kickboxing lately, because Im a lanky guy and I think it would help me build some explosive muscles. Who else?

In my family soccer is pretty big and martial arts even bigger.

I played elite soccer until age 20 but now mostly just coach at a competitive level and am getting all my licenses (just spent the full weekend getting some certifications) to perhaps start a soccer school in a few years. It`s gonna be pretty big again in a few years w the worl cup coming back to north america. I just play for fun now with people from work and my closest friends.

When it comes to martial arts though I competed in karate at an early age, transitioned to boxing in my late teens and now do kickboxing and taekwondo competitions plus help the local school with fundraisers and get to travel everywhere with them. Going to a really good 10 day camp in Skelleftea, Sweden in August for training and Grand Cayman right after for 2 weeks. Taekwondo chicks are ridiculous hot so lots or perks too as I get to travel to places I love.

If I didn`t have such a well paid job I would seriously just coach soccer and travel for taekwondo camps/competitions.

If you want explosive muscles, fast-twitch fiber, do exercises that build fast-twitch fiber.

Just about all aspects of fighting are cardio & technique based. Of course you'll build some muscle while practicing/training but there's definitely more efficient ways to build muscles that will make you "explosive".

I was a pretty good highschool American football player. It's a long story that can be summed up with laziness, bad life choices, product of my environment stuff, but I didn't get a scholarship. I also didn't earn a single credit in H.S. and only made it through 6 or 7 games before I was expelled from local school district.

I do wish I would of wrestled in HS but I was way too cool for spandex and headgear. TBH I just thought wrestling (the sport) was really gay. I've always been really good at wrestling, unorthodox (more judo ish, throws, trips, hip toss, etc), but I fucking hate wrestling training.

PS. Camera stop mind-fondeling underage girls in taekwondo camp.

"Some pretty hot taekwondo girls" yeah is there? it sounds like you're in a traveling youth group like the taekwondo version of the girlscouts... Pedo much? Lol

Pretty similar to me with HS football. Freshman and sophomore seasons I started at Middle Linebacker. Sophomore season was looking up as i got to start the entire season and led the team in sacks, 2nd in tackles. My only flaw was marajuana and living on my own at 15 didn't help. I couldn't keep my grade point averge up and the first quarter of my junior year I dropped out. I also was a amateur boxer from 14 to 15. I miss boxing more then Football to be honest.

I got into MMA a lil bit but never did much besides join a gym where I guy named John Mahlow ran. He used fight for King of the Cage and other little orgs. A friend of mine had some fights but he had a problem getting submitted. I would help him with his boxing for fights. All that boxing was pointless though when you get taking down within minute.

Now I got two boys and a daughter who I hope to encourage in sports, my youngest and oldest kids are both deaf so that will be a interesting process.

I am old man now but boxed as an amateur from 11 -19 and then made a comeback for a couple of fights in my early 20's. Started Shotokan around 17 and continued until around 40

Unfortunately MMA didnt exist when I was competing but I spent a reasonable amount of time in my 20's jumping around martial arts, kickboxing, hapkido (the only grappling I did) and wing chun (yeah I know). In my 20's is when started to see non tradition styles/schools start to pop up in australia that were focused on street fighting and not on forms and tradition. This was around the time that NHB fighting started and was followed much later by MMA

I fought in 3 tournaments in australia (Darwin, adelaide and melbourne) that were called tough man tournaments. Pretty much everything from ex boxers to guys out of the bars. Did pretty well but there was no money to be made it was just an ego thing. If you did well you fought 3 fights. These allowed elbows and knees but with gloves

Anyway long story and a long time ago (All above is in Oz)

These days just work out on the bags and go down the local Muay Thai gym to spar once a week or fortnight (I live in Thailand) when I am not away working. Now I am basically a lazy fucker and about making money at work
