THE ITFL SEASON 5

TEAM FINALE

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the PREVIEW of the ITFL Team Finale for Season 5!

It’s been one of the most anticipated battles in recent memory. Those who remember past ITFL seasons will remember Team Conquer as possibly the most dominant team in the tournament’s history. They bulldozed their way to the finals last year where they captured glory and were thought unstoppable.

Team Conquer this season boasted the likes of Sean McDonnel, better known as Shortfuse, Rory Daly who was later replaced with Louie DePalma, Rodrigo Costa, James Cozad….and the legendary Lance Templeton. Immediately pinned as the tournament favourites, their wealth of talent and experience was expected to see them through to another accolade…

Until new challengers stepped up…

Without a doubt the most dominant team in the tournament his year have been Vendetta. Captained by G Wad, they have the current #1 manager Mr Wolf represented by two fighters after Liam Davidson dropped out, along with Stu MacK and Bwang Jong Sr. They ran away with the league, finishing on 40.5 points from a possible 50 as they won every single round, while finishing up with 4 of the top 5 individual competitors for the season.

In their two previous encounters this season, Vendetta has gained the upper hand both times. It was a tight affair in Week 5 when Vendetta came out on top with a 3-2 win, but a much more tense affair in the final Week 10 as they secured a 3-1-1 victory.

For Vendetta, it is the time to prove they truly are the new dominant force. With alliance pyramid success, along with their individual manager successes, they can now add the ITFL Season 5 to their growing list of accomplishments and will be coming in with a huge psychological edge having two victories already.

For Team Conquer, it is about redemption. They are the defending champions but have been humbled during the regular season. With the wounds still fresh from Week 10, they will have time to regroup and come up with their plans for the Team Finale.

Even if they do hold the psychological edge, the entire tournament comes down to this. 10 of the finest fighters in the world stand off to represent their team and when it’s all done, only one team can emerge victorious.

Without further ado, let’s get right into the matchups.

The very first contest sees Edward Blake take on Roland De Roncevaux as both men look to get their team on the board with first blood.

Edward Blake started the tournament brightly, winning his first four fights without looking particularly flustered in any of the bouts. When he stepped up against Vendetta however, he suffered a spectacular knockout as Ras Li Judah rocked him with his striking before picking him up and slamming him to the mat which rendered him unconscious. He has gone 2-3 since then showing perhaps his confidence may be shaken. In the last encounter he lost to Cornelius Carr with a first round TKO. He is the tallest fighter in the competition which, combined with his penchant for being knocked out, begs the question of whether his height leaves his chin hanging to be hit too much? Whatever the case is, he will be hoping to gain a measure of revenge en route to a win.

Roland De Roncevaux was a replacement in the tournament as he took over from Igor Quincy in the 6th round and he looks to have a been one of the best possible imports for the team. 4 victories from 5 fights, with the sole loss a close decision against George Pedro, has seen him contribute to Vendetta’s dominating run. A Granite Chin with proven power, he honestly looks to be the worst kind of fighter that Blake could have come up against. Roland is managed by Mr Wolf, the #1 manager in the game, and as uch will be well drilled coming into this fight, and in a confident mood of giving Vendetta the early edge.

My prediction for this is pretty obvious. This is Roland’s fight to lose. Big power and a Granite Chin vs Decent Power and a Meh Chin. I’m taking Roland to win it with a second round (T)KO.

Prediction: Roland De Roncevaux to win via (T)KO in round 2

Team Conquer’s replacement fighter takes on the most successful now as Cole Orion takes on Cornelius Carr.

Cole Orion entered the tournament in Round 5 as he replaced Bruce Brady in Team Conquer’s line up and he has done his part. He won every round from 5 until 9 to give his team some much desired points. However, in the last round he found himself undone as he lost to Vendetta’s Jermaine Wright. He has a Granite Chin and goes into every fight confident he won’t be knocked out, with his sole KO loss coming in his MMA debut which could be put down to merely testing the waters. He finds himself with a big challenge now as he faces the overall #1 seed in the Individual tournament, but has much to gain both personally and professionally, with a victory.

Cornelius Carr has arguably been the standout performer in the tournament this year. 9 wins with 1 sole loss has seen him become the #1 fighter in terms of points and leads him to this finale. His sole loss came against Conquer member Brock Rumlow, but he redeemed himself by defeating Edward Blake when the teams fought later on. He has a Granite Chin just like Orion, and also has similar power. The key difference between the two is the weight differential with Cole weighing 196lbs while Carr comes in at 214lbs. Carr will be hoping he can make it count with his power striking in the bout.

This is a tough bout to predict. Orion is a very capable fighter and shouldn’t be counted out of any contest, while Carr has been a dominating force in the tournament. I’m going to throw a prediction of Carr to take it in a razor thin decision.

Prediction: Cornelius Carr to win via Split Decision

The captains square off now as Kai Kha takes on Friedrich Von Kuschelbar.

Kai Kha has finished the season with a 7-3 record and scored some big victories but the bane of his tournament has come when he has competed against Vendetta. He has only just lost to Ras Li Judah but also lost to his current opponent Friedrich Von Kuschelbar in Round 5. He packs power and is a true warrior in the cage, but the question is whether he can adapt his gameplan compared to last time in order to overcome this challenge.

Now, if Cornelius Carr and Jermaine Wright are the shining stars of Vendetta’s run of dominance, then Friedrich Von Kuschelbar is the unsung hero. The Austrian Baron with the really long name to spell is the only fighter in the entire tournament to have not lost a single fight yet. That’s right, not one time has he been defeated in an ITFL cage. Between his blossoming striking skills and his top notch grappling he has ground his opponents out, scoring 8 decisions, 1 TKO victory and a draw in his last bout against Brock Rumlow which arguably he could have won. He has proven himself to be one of the most effective fighters in the game, and he will be looking to lead his team to glory once more.

Going on past history and with a couple of factors in play, I am banking on Friedrich Von Kuschelbar to rack up the victory. He showed he can beat Kha before, and his form means he will be feeling invincible.

Prediction: Friedrich Von Kuschelbar to win via Unanimous Decision

Arguably the fight of the finals now as Brock Rumlow takes on Jermaine Wright.

Brock Rumlow, managed by the legendary Lance Templeton, has gone a respectable 7-2-1 in the tournament this year, finding himself losing one fight purely due to injuries. He wears his opponents down with his volume striking and has the durability to do it. He has never been stopped in his career, and since being picked up by Lance has gone 12-3-1. He actually has a positive record when facing Vendetta, with 1 win and 1 draw so he will be the man Conquer look to in order to gain an upper hand in the contest.

Jermaine Wright has gone a fantastic 9-1 in the tournament with his sole loss coming to Duane Perry in Round 6. He finished up as the #2 seed in the Individual rankings, racking up 6 (T)KO victories and 3 decisions. He is managed by the current #1 manager in Mr Wolf, a man many believe to be the successor to Lance Templeton as one of the most dominant managers of all time. Wright will be hoping to take home the victory in this bout using his exceptional skills and game planning in what is sure to be a firework bout.

Now, these two actually fought back in February before the ITFL began in which Rumlow took home the win. The focus is both on the two fighters taking part, and the managers. Templeton, the grizzled veteran and one of, if not THE, Greatest manager of all time. Wolf, the young upstart who burst onto the scene early this year and has been an iron grasp on the top of the rankings all year. I see this going to a decision, with both men able to take the win but I am picking Wright purely on a basis of current form.

Prediction: Jermaine Wright to win via Unanimous Decision

The final encounter sees two men who have quietly been going about their business as George Pedro takes on Ras Li Judah.

George Pedro has gone 8-2 this year, showing his amazing versatility both striking and grappling. He is 1-1 when it comes to fighting Vendetta in the tournament, losing to Wright but winning last time against De Roncevaux. He is a very short fighter compared to the competition as he regularly competes at 170 but made the jump in order to take part in the tournament. His lack of height allows him to really drive in with his takedowns however, making him a much different opponent to the norm. He has power and a Granite Chin which have defined him as a dangerous fighter for any opponet.

Ras Li Judah was a draft into the Vendetta team as he is managed by Bwang Jong Sr. from the YABAI alliance. It proved to be a very savvy move as Judah has gone a very impressive 8-2 in the tournament helping the team to top position. He has also shown a versatility most others haven’t as he has 5 (T)KO’s, 2 Decisions and 1 Submission victory throughout the tournament, including the previously mentioned Slam KO of Edward Blake. Judah was the dark horse of this team, and now people are finally beginning to realise the true ability this man has.

Away from the previous predictions, I believe this will actually be a Team Conquer victory with Pedro seeing out a victory. His size and wrestling is a troublesome combo, and while I can see Judah also pulling out the victory, I feel Pedro has the better chance in this bout.

Prediction: George Pedro to win via (T)KO in Round 3

And that is it from the ITFL Team Finale which takes place in just over 2 hours. A big thank you to every manager who has competed in the tournament this year as it has been a very enjoyable season with very little drama to overcome. Best of luck to both teams in the Finale, and good luck to those competing in the Individual tournament which is following the Finale!

Fuck sake. Im pissed lol, losing via cuts to let Conquer win 3-2 losing out on 5 mil :weeping: :weeping:

Even KOing Lance isn't washing the taste out my mouth :(

Congrats Conquer

Surprising to see Blake actually get that W. Pretty obvious he was the clear underdog. I was coming into it expecting Blake to be the sacrificial lamb so to speak. Looks like he stepped up when it really mattered.
