Short term skill points

An interesting concept I had was long term skills and short term skills.

Long term skills are identical to what we have now. No changes.

Short term skills would be an extra 200 point boost that your fighter holds at all times.

Short term skills would only be seen by the manager. And operate on a sliding scale. Short term skills would be a faster training system. Your fighters overall skill may be an average of Remarkable. But with pointed training, short term skills could look very different.

How it would work:

If you train boxing consecutively then your long term boxing skill would improve as normal. Your short term skills would push ahead.

However, any short term points being added to boxing would be drawn from another skill that is being neglected. So you are always maintaining the 200 point boost.

This would be an expansion upon the current concept of gaining a fight boost based off of training. However, this differs because it would not reset after each fight. It would always be active. Carrying over fight to fight.

What it would look like:

Most fighters in the game have quad exceptional as a base. There is no hidden skill difference between fighters. (Other than BJJ)

However, with long term/short term skills, fighters would appear as Superb/Remarkable to public. But a short term skill difference would be hidden. Only to be known by the manager himself.

Benefits:

It would provide training interest even for older fighters that may have maxed out their long term skills. Short term skills could still be trained and shifted. (But at a slower rate)

It would make fighters more diverse and provide greater opportunity for upsets and less predetermined outcomes.

It reduces the total number of skill points for a fighter. Which is good because new fighters could become involved quicker.

Closing argument:

Having a short term pool of points that a manager can essentially move around adds another dimension to fighter training and adds another dimension to the life cycle of fighters. It also provides greater opportunity for managers to truly "manage" their fighters. All the way from creation to retirement.

well there is something in place sort of on what your talking about -- you get a 10% bonus in what you been training leading up to the fight (i think goes back to last 10 days or so, not totally sure -- guess that is sort of like what your talking about but instead of just a bonus your wanting to be able to randomly select the bonus yourself

No. Not randomly select. The short term points are dictated by what you are training.

Example: you train more boxing. More points are shifted to boxing

This would be an expansion on the 10% bonus concept.
