John Bear Interview

Question #1 John, you just made the move down from 185lbs, it seemed you was doing fine at 185lbs, why did you make this decision?

With the suggestion of Gamma I was way under weight by around 20lbs. It only made sense to move down in weight, it also makes for a much more exciting fight being in a class where I fighting fighters my size.

Question #2 You are on a fantastic 8-0 winning streak currently, when you just started at GAMMA you went 1-5, what changed for you to turn around your career?

I stopped training every day and now train every other day. I also started to work on my defense, because defense is the best offense.

Question #3 Dan Hardy is your next opponent, he is new to the GAMMA cage, however he is undefeated in 7 fights and is the CWFL LA champion, do you think you will break his streak?

I WILL win this fight, Dan is a great fighter but I have experience on my side. I am stronger, Faster, and he will gas before I will. I did my research and he is about to get his first loss.

Question #4 Alexander Khalifman is one of the most dominating champions in MMA history, undefeated in 17 fights, who do you think are the main challengers to give him his first defeat?

I am not sure who it will be but he has 5 UD and I think he will lose in the one of his next 4 fights.

Hendo Han Interview

Question #1: Hendo, you just wrote GAMMA history becoming the first and only person to win the title for the second time, how does it feel

Answer; Whooooooooo! I'm like dude, holy $#@&! My manager said we should start taking people down like that Gracie guy! That's what K1 told me. Don't remember most of the fight. A couple of weeks ago I realized I was walking around with this belt on. Then it hit me. I think I won that fight! (K1 embarrassingly slumps in chair.)

Question #2: Although being just 26y and an all time GAMMA great, there were rumors that you would of retired if you failed to win the title, is this true?

Answer: Yeah. What's up with that? Although K1 may be clever and handsome, he just don't know what it do! He basically said I was fat. That's just mean. Even if it's true you just don't say that. It really hurts. So I traded my donuts for dumbbells. I am happy to announce I have lost 12 lbs and 3 pant sizes. (Hendo spins around and does look pretty fit. K-1 slumps a little further.)

Question #3: You went into the fight against Sammy as the outsider, having previously lost a fight to him a few months back, what do you think changed since your last fight?

Answer: I swear I was like dude holy $#@%! We should take people down like that Gracie guy! Let's be honest. I'm an extremely lazy person. If I can lay on my opponent for five rounds, maybe have a snack in between, I'll do it. Yeah I got whooped by Stone. So what? Must be fun teeing off on a little fat guy.

Question #4: Sammy did have you knocked down several times, eventually you pulled off a shock win by submission, your first in your career so far, would you say that this will become your new secret weapon?

Answer: I don't remember being knocked down. Oh you mean takedown? Yeah I did a pretty good job of taking it to the ground. Thanks. Tyson Belfort was brought in to work specifically on the triangle. I'd say it worked considering I have no submissions whatsoever. I don't have to beat everyone but somewhere along the line I'm getting my belt back.

Last weekend we witnessed one of the highest rated GAMMA event ever, Han took on Mendez for his second reign as the 265lb champion and managed to defend his title. The fans loved the whole show, which also led to GAMMA being pushed up to #11 worldwide, our highest ranking to date.

We would like to congratulate Jeremy Tonal for making it to the Semi-finals of the Syn Millionaire tournament!

He went in as the 23rd seed out of a total of 32 fighters and after winning his first 2 fights went up against #2 seeded Earl Lee Swagger for the quarter finals. It was a tough decision win for Jeremy which will now face Jerry Millen on New Year! A win there will take him to the finals.

This is the first time a GAMMA fighter has ever participated in a major tournament and he has done fantastic so far, good job Richard Davenport!

We would like to congratulate Grund McGrunderson with his success in becoming the #1 rated manager in the game!

Grud has been with us now for a very long time, close to 1 1/2 years, his current run in GAMMA is truly impressive with a total of 35 fights, 33 of which he won. He manages Yudovich and Khalifman, 2 of the top 5 all time fighters in GAMMA, both of which are champs in their respective divisions.

Bubba Clem Interview

Question #1 You have already introduced yourself to the GAMMA fans with a tough decision win over Frank Abbot, you do like to go for the KO though, will we see more of those to come in the future?

I love the KO but Frank Abbot is a very tough fighter. His last 8 fights have gone to decision or something like that. Nobody is finishing that guy lately. Maybe i should have taken him to the ground and pounded him out or subbed him but i wasnt sure I would get the win if Bubba couldnt finish him there so I took the safe approach and out pointed him on the feet. Not a very exciting fight sorry.

As for future KO's. I just dont know.

Question #2 Next up you have Ali Newman, a one time GAMMA top contender, which lost his last 2 fights, what is your strategy in this fight?

Ali Newman is no joke. He has losses but to some really good fighters, i can't discuss my strategy though.

Question #3 The Broken Halo Pride is a highly respected MMA alliance, how instrumental so far for your success?

The Broken Halo Pride has been a very important part of my success. With those guys behind me I have been blasting up the rankings. I most certainly would not be where I am today without the support of my BHP brothers. Thanks boys.

Question #4 If you win the next one, you could be in contention for a title fight, who would you prefer to fight for the title, the contender Doug Davis or the current champ Mikhail Yudovich?

If i win that i am in for some real trouble. Yudovich looks to be a very tough opponent for anyone and if Davis beats him then we will know just how tough Davis is.

Who would I rather fight? I have had my eye on Yudovich for a while but nobody has finished Davis or beaten him. To be honest I was hoping to avoid fighting either one of them for a couple more fights.

Roderick Edwards Interview

Questions #1 You spent a lot of time on the QFC scene, with one of the best records ever there at 9-0, what pushed you to make the decision to join a top org like GAMMA?

I wanted to make sure I was ready prior to stepping up to the big boys so to speak. I rounded out my game by taking as many QFC fights as I felt was needed so that when I joined a company such as GAMMA I was prepared. I then joined the now closed Supreme Fighting Championship, and took part in their WW tournament to the title, but they went out of business after I secured my spot in the finals. Then it was on to GAMMA : Contenders were I must have done something right, because here I am talking to you fighting for one of the biggest companies in Vegas.

Question #2 At 27y old, do you think you are ready to compete at the highest level?

I feel I can still compete at this level at least for a few more fights. I really want to make a run at the title, and getting a couple wins will be the first step. I can still hang with the young pups, and whenever we roll in the gym I tap most of them out.

Question #3 You have some weaknesses on the stand up game, do you think this will be a factor in your career?

I am most definitely a specialist at what I do, and yeah I suppose my stand up could be looked at as a negative factor in my training. However I choose to see it as I have focused on becoming the best at something I was born to do which is tap fools out! I've never been finished on the feet, and once I get a fight to the mat it's only a matter of time before my opponent is tapping, snapping, or napping.

Question #4 Pound Mcgee is your next opponent, he has considerably less experience, do you think you will use that to your advantage?

Yeah Mcgee is much newer to the fight world then I am, but I don't take any opponent lightly. Especially a guy with the KO power Mcgee possess', which as you pointed out is a weakness in my own skill set. But he is just as weak on the ground as I am on the feet so in a traditional striker vs. grappler bout there will be no secrets to either of our game plans he'll want to sprawl and brawl well I'll be looking to get this to the ground and look for the submission.

GAMMA: Greatest Upsets #3

Jeremy Tonal vs Mikhail Yudovich 2010-07-04

Jeremy had just won the title with a clean win over Erkki Junttila and was on good 4 fight winning streak beating all his previous opponents within the second round. He was up against Mikhail Yudovich, the ex-185 champ, which not too long ago had lost his title to Raz Matazz to move up to 205lbs. The clear favorite going into the fight was Jeremy though, he was a lot more dominant in his wins and seemingly had the better skills.

The fight did not go according to plan though, Yudovich controlled the fight for most of the rounds ending up winning a 45-49 decision win. The rematch did not happen as Tonal was given permission to take part in the Syn Millionaire tournament, which he is currently in the Semi finals, while Yudovich is still undefeated. The rematch will probably be the greatest matchup in GAMMA history, especially if Tonal ends up winning the tournament and Yudovich stays undefeated.

Alexander Khalifman, arguably the most dominant 170lbs fighter in MMA history with a 18-0 record has decided to move up to 185lbs! This is major news as it brings to the lips of the fans about a potential super fight between the winner of the Matazz vs Rose fight which Matazz is the unanimous favorite to win.

If the fight goes down it will be between 2 bitter Manager vs Manager rivals and probably the 2 most recognized GAMMA icons to date. The fight is expected to take place in the second week of February.

After discussing the issue with our managers, we have decided to move back to a 3 round non title setup. Over the past few months we had been testing 4 rounds and although it achieved its main target of having more finishes, it also meant that we also had more energy loss.

Due to this reason we have now went back to the original 3 round setup. 76% of the managers voted in favor of the 3 rounds and will be effective as of 22-01-2011.

GAMMA: Greatest Upsets #2

Date 06 November 2010

Hendo Han vs Sammy Stone 2

Fight link:

http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=216604

Sammy had beaten Hendo in their first fight very decisively, the first fight was a 3 x 5 rounds battle which Stone managed to finish early by KO.

Hendo had stated that he was already considering retiring if he lost the fight for the title although just 27y old. Sammy was the younger of the 2 and had improved since their last encounter, few people saw the fight going differently.

Hendo changed his gameplan, was more cautious going into the fight, but after 5 rounds was clearly still loosing. Sammy was on top with just seconds to go pounding away, seemingly looking for a TKO and then Hendo pulled off a shocking submission! Hendo was never considered a submission artist, in fact his ground game was rarely used over his career, so that added more to the win.

Han became the first 2 time champ and had one title defense before loosing his title to Jones a month later, but the win still goes down as one of the greatest upsets in GAMMA history.

A rubber match at a latter stage always seems likely.......

Rudy Fernandez Interview

Question #1: You recently had a manager change, do you think Hansu Robinson-Bamse can improve your career?

Answer: It?s been over a year since my last fight but yet I?m sure there won?t be any ring-rust whatsoever. I feel like a whole new fighter under Robinson-Bamse?s Camp. He has made some changes considering my training and tactics. So yes, within five fights I will be the new champion.

Question #2: You have had a bad run as of late, lost the last 4, do you think you can turn your fortunes around?

Answer: As I said earlier. I will be the champion there is no doubt.

Question #3: Some of your opponents have said you have a "glass" chin, after you lost the last few fights by KO, what do you have to say to those comments?

Answer: Aah, "glass jaw".. the classic. Their mother is fat and ugly.

Question #4: Shawn Michaels is up next, he is a seasoned veteran with over 22 fights behind his belt, do you think that will be a factor going into the fight?

Answer: I?m the better fighter, that?s what matters. I?m just glad that I can steal his hype and move up the ladder to face some serious competition. Just face it, he is a can such a high caliber he should be fighting one of Joel Nicola?s fighters instead of me. I?ll break his heart on Sunday, come and see. I?ll be tweeting tickets, bitches!

We are proud to announce the 2010 fighter of the year has gone to Raz Matazz, he had a perfect year all round and has been ranked in the top 5 of his division now for some time.

Second place went to Alexander Khalifman which would probably had won the award if not for Raz's absolutely dominant performance at 185lbs. 3rd place went to 2009's winner Mikhail Yudovich.

For the younger fans which were not around for the first inauguration, 2nd and 3rd place last year went to Nikon Holm and Lennon Lewis respectively.

Jan David interview

Question #1 You have already been with GAMMA for 5 fights already, are you happy with your progress so far?

Jan: I'm never satisfied, and won't be content until I'm the one walking to the ring with the belt every time. I've had a few bad performances, mostly due to missing training or showing up drunk, but i've stopped drinking before breakfast so I expect to be back to kicking ass and taking names this year.

Question #2 Do you think that there is a void at 170lbs, now that Alexander Khalifman has moved up a division?

Jan: A void? Only in the sense that nobody has the belt. Frankly I think he spiked my water bottle in our fights, so I have no problem seeing him go. I'm not sure he really thought through the decision to move up in weight though, because I've trained with Matazz, and that guy's an absolute destroyer of worlds.

Question #3 Alan Bundy is facing Lucas Bede for the title, who do you think will win?

Jan: I'd lean towards Bundy, but it could really go either way. Both guys are good standing, in the clinch, and on the ground, and both guys can finish fights, so it could just be a question of who makes the first mistake.

Question #4 You are up against Dan Hardy next, in a fight many see you as the favorite, if you win do you think it puts you in contention for the title?

Jan: Probably, but you never know. I'm just focused on knocking out Hardy. Beyond that? who knows.

31st of October 2010 Jeremy Tonal became the first ever fighter to officially join a tournament. It was not just any tournament, it was the Syn millionaire tournament. Before going in, he lost 2 of his last 3 fights, however it was pretty clear the potential was there.

Originally it was expected he would at best go a couple of rounds, as he was ranked really low in the seedings.

First fight he won (as expected) against Rolen Spliffs. His next came against highly talented John Kreese, which again he won by decision. Earl Lee Swagger was #2 seed going into the tournament and considered one of the biggest names worldwide at 205, again Tonal won to face Jerry Millen, the guy many considered to have the best secondary skills in the game, this time Jeremy ended it in style with a decisive KO. In the final Hans Schwanz was waiting, another somewhat "surprise", but after winning against 2 of the best fighters in the world in the semi and quarter finals there was always only one way the title was going, Jeremy won again to be crowned the tournament champion, winning the 1 million purse to go with it!!!
