YOU WANT IT TAKAHASHI/ZHAO/LUNDGREN, YOU GOT IT. Psiris knocked Zhao's head into next week and it'll be a privilege to do it again. And you can make those $250,000 checks payable to Psiris Fuhren and Slick Gunderson after 'The Virus' leaves Zhao laying in a pool of his own blood a second time. Be careful what you ask for, whoever the hell it is I'm even talking to anymore. Because you might just get it. *Picks up microphone, holds it forward, drops it again*

Mr. Takahashi: Ever hear of the immune system? Just like a virus Zhao will have you all figured out now and all that's going to happen is you're going to see Psiris get picked apart like Kobayashi-sama eating hot dogs. And don't worry it's only Takahashi you speak to, you don't have grace to speak to the boss, and Zhao remains silent for all that energy better to train than to waste on such plebian swine as yourselves, but don't worry when Psiris lays defeated on the canvas we will keep our money but can all car pool back in Sophia Gunderson's mini-van so you don't have to take a bus or anything. The papers are signed on our end, waiting on you as always. -Takahashi takes out his handkerchief, holds it out, and drops it-

Conor didn't have the balls to face Aldo again because he knew there was no way he could top that performance. Psiris had a record-breaking moment, courtesy of Zhao's chin. He could forget about "The King of Getting Cut" and move onto a deserved title shot or perhaps challenge himself with a more worthy opponent. But unlike Conor, Psiris has the balls to prove that knockout was no fluke. I just got off the phone with him and was told to relay this message: "On August 19, 2020, in Sydney, Australia, we won't just take their money. We'll take their pride. And soon we'll take Wanderson's title." To be sure, this will not be a 10-second knockout. Zhao is too talented to organize such an inept game plan a second time. However, I promise this will be a complete and utter beat down. Put the handkerchief away and pull out your towel, Takahashi. You'll be throwing it in the cage on August 19 to save your fighter's life. The time for talking is over. We'll see you in 27 days.

Mr. Takahashi: Please Mr. Gunderson, let us not pretend as we both know if Mr. Mcnuggets were to take but a single blow from either fighter Longsun or Psiris he would crumble to dust. Let us leave the children's league to those starving babies. But grand of you to finally accept and be prepared as Longsun will come with a fury and speed unmatched save for his prowess in bed, and he shall tear into Psiris this virus like a course of antibiotics when he brings the thunder in the land down under, hope Psiris enjoys ice cream and soup as that's all he shall be able to eat in the months to follow. But rest easy we are a fair bunch at Team Lundgren and will consider the trilogy fight should Psiris remember to walk after this fight. -Mr. Takahashi removes a popeyes takeaway meal from his inner coat pockets and begins to consume a three piece- "We shall await you in Sydney, Mr. Gunderson"

Sucker Punch Preview

Featherweight Cockshot Sorter Series: SEMI-FINALS

Hey there Sucker Punch fans! A big on on tap tonight, as we are about to belt our first ever Sucker Punch Featherweight Champion! I wouldn’t miss this one if you paid me!

Hare Rumpler here, along with our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and our Suzy Sucker Punch, our friendly neighborhood media correspondent! Tonight’s card is chock full of Featherweights, with an entire card dedicated to it form the first undercard fight all the way through the Main Events.

Tonight’s event will be held at the 5,750 seat Bondi Outdoor Arena, Donkey! One of my favorites by far. While the temperature will be just about perfect, 61°F or about 16°C, I hear there’s a possibility of a few showers in the forecast and it’ll be cloudy. They’ll probably be closing up the lid on the joint for this event I’d think, which takes away a bit of the character and feel of the place, but it’s still a fantastic spot for a big card like this one! The fans are in for a treat, and so are we!

Now, tonight’s preview may not be quite as in-depth (we’ll see) as usual, as my family is preparing to head out for a vacation in Maine bright and early in the morning tomorrow. So…yeah, things are a bit nuts in the Hare Household today!

So let’s get going, but first a word about our sponsor!

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

And that sponsor and merchandise partner is none other than the outstanding Shadow Warrior Nutrition! You’ve heard it by now, but if you haven’t been listening then you truly are not doing everything you can for your fighters on a day to day basis as they train! Almost every fighter gets tired now and then from brutal training sessions. And sometimes, the only difference between having to sit them out for session or two, and keeping them in there getting the most out of that training is the right energy loss reduction supplement! Well, that’s what you’ll get with Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q! So stop by and visit them today, grab some for your fighters and get them using it! You won’t be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Featherweight Undercard Bout #1

Jack Reacher (0-4-0) vs. Jakob Goulding (5-4-0)

Alright, see, now sometimes the kids early in the card make me wonder…”Are they TRYING to drive Donkey insane?!?” Because it sure seems like it at times.

Jack Reacher comes into this fight desperately needing a win. At 0-4 and three of those losses coming here with us at Sucker Punch, you’d sure think there would definitely be that level of desperation at least. But…he comes into this fight with his morale at about 40%. So clearly, either his manager isn’t that interested in getting a win, or doesn’t realize the difference being fully prepared with good morale and confidence can make! He’s managed by Franky Sin, a seasoned vet who’s been in the game since 2009 and has close to 700 fights under his belt as a manager, so the latter portion of that is unlikely.

Lucky for him, Reacher may be able to rebound from that bad morale being that Jakob Goulding, Recher’s opponent for the evening, also comes in a little low on morale. Not as low, but still a little off. Probably down about 25%. That can factor in. But I think this still leaves the advantage in Goulding’s court before considering anything else. Goulding is 5-4 in his career with a loss to Jun Sekii here in Sucker Punch last month.

Goulding will hold the advantage on the ground with his brown belt in Jiu Jitsu. His wins have typically come via submission, so Reacher should try to keep this standing as he has a blue belt. Reacher’s advantage is in boxing, so that favors him standing as well.

Donkey, any thoughts on these two youngsters…?

Donkey’s Pick: Goulding via Submission (Armbar)

I have to go with the guy who comes in at least a bit more prepared with that morale, and has also shown he can win so far. While his record is not head over heels inspiring…yet…it’s hard to go with Reacher until he shows he can put one in the left hand column. Perhaps he’ll surprise us tonight and come away with his first win though!

*********

Featherweight Undercard Bout #2

Sorsa Lokki (2-5-0) vs. O Chen Purjalsta (1-3-0)

Next we’ll see O Chen Purjalasta take on Sorsa Lokki, as both of these young combatants both look to try to get their fighting careers turned around and heading in the right direction!

Purjalsta comes into this with his morale at about 70%, which won’t make Donkey nuts, but won’t thrill him either. Purjalsta, who has a 1-3 record, is still seeking his first win here at Sucker Punch. Previously submitted by Adrian Petrov and then knocked out in his most recent fight against Mickey DIsmantle, he’s clearly searching for a strategy that’s a winner for him. He and Lokki both have blue belts in BJJ, but Purjalsta has a considerable advantage with his wrestling which should prove him the better ground artist in this fight.

Lokki will have the advantage in standup with his boxing in this fight, and undoubtedly will want to keep this thing on the feet. With a win over Jack Reacher via decision in his last fight he will want to show that he can extend that form and turn this into a streak. Lokki has previously shown himself to have a big heart and to be determined, but one has to question his chin perhaps. He’s been knocked out twice in his prior fights and TKO’d once, so that is something to watch, especially for a boxer. He comes into this fight a little low on energy, and not quite topped off on morale, so that may also play in some if he can’t take over this fight early and put it away.

Got a pick for us Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Purjalsta via Submission (Kimura)

Purjalsta is the worse off of the two here with the morale, but I do like his ground skill and the way that his wrestling should help him dominate if he can get it to the ground. But that’s the trick, getting it there, and if Lokki can score a good one early, without having to worry about any chin issues in the process, he may be able to put this away before this gets into the dangerous ground territory. This should be a quality fight, I wish both fighters were fully prepped!

Featherweight Undercard Bout #3

Mickey DIsmantle (2-1-0) vs. Luke Skywalker (0-3-0)

Our next fight will thrill Donkey as both of these guys come into this fight just about fully topped off and ready to make this thing happen! Woot! This is how you bring it boys!

DIsmantle is on a two fight win streak after having dismissed O Chen Purjalsta and Sorsa Lokki in his prior two fights, both in under a minute! With only a loss to Warran Peace, a very tough fighter, DIsmantle has been setting himself up to take big steps up the ladder!

DIsmantle will want to win this one standing. He has the superior standup skills and his wrestling, while workable, is accompanied by merely a white belt in BJJ. Skywalker on the other hand has wonderful wrestling and a blue belt in BJJ. Still looking for his first win after losing the first three fights of his career here with us at Sucker Punch, tonight could be the big night for Skywalker. That is, IF he tries to lean on his ground game…and IF he can get it to the ground. He better be able to weather the storm though as DIsmantle can end it fast, as we discussed!

Frankly, if Skywalker wants to win this one, he may have to use the force…the force of his fist cracking DIsmantle in the family jewels when the ref isn’t watching! HA! Do you think maybe he can do that force choke thing that his dad used to do?!? That might come in handy.

Over to you Donkey, what do ya have for us…?

Donkey’s Pick: Skywalker via Submission (Armbar)

I’m going out on a limb here, and going against my gut instinct! Every fiber of my being is screaming that you cannot go against a guy who has finished it in well under a minute in his past two fights when he’s up against an 0-3 fighter. But, I’ve got a hunch. Maybe it’s a bad hunch, but I’ve got one. And Skywalker is due. I think maybe he manages to get lucky with a quick takedown, and from there, who knows!

*********

Featherweight Undercard Bout #4

Jun Sekii (2-1-0) vs. Dave Metal (2-2-0)

Our fourth fight of the evening, you might think that the story in this one would be that both of these guys are coming in with their morale a little low. But nope, that’s not even close to the biggest concern.

The biggest concern is that Dave Metal come in without a manager. His manager was found to be one of a handful of multi’s that were all deleted from the game. So now, this kid finds himself with nobody in his corner tonight, a .500 record that potentially is about to get worse…and, most likely, retirement on the horizon as nobody has stepped up to pick him up. My guess is that following this fight, he’ll be auto-retired with the system only waiting on this fight to do so.

So that being said, Jun Sekii has this thing set up to be a win. So long as he comes out and takes care of business. A pure striker, Sekii is on a two fight win streak after having lost to a very talented Ramon Rabbit in the first round of the Sorter Series tournament. He finished Jakob Goulding in just over a minute in his last fight, and has shown impressive progression with his striking skills.

Even without a manager, Metal can be dangerous in this one if he can get into the clinch and establish dominance there. That’s where he’ll have the advantage, but it’s not a given he can completely assert himself, as Sekii has been taken into the clinch previously and managed to fare just fine.

Donkey, what say you sir...?

Donkey’s Pick: Sekii via KO (Punch)

I can’t go with a poor guy with no manager and nobody in the corner with them. So it has to be Sekii, and if Sekii does this right, he can walk away with a third W in a row quickly here. But…this could also turn into a war. It’s in Sekii’s interest to end this fast, walk away fairly unscathed and get back to training with three wins in a row. Nobody wants this thing to drag out, result in a gassed out fighter and injuries to boot. But, they both like to stand and bang, just one with the close, slow dancing and the other not…so prepare for going the distance as well!

*********

Featherweight Undercard Bout #5

Hiki Antsa (2-1-0) vs. Max Holliday (0-0-0)

Our last Undercard bout of the evening will see a newcomer to both Sucker Punch and the cage as well as Max Holliday makes his professional debut with us tonight! And both of these boys, both Antsa and Holliday area all gassed up and ready to go, I love it!

Holliday is a Muy Thai fighter with competent boxing and respectable wrestling skills. Beyond that, we only know that he’s an 18 year old fighter managed by Kribbson Thunder. Thunder has brought us quite a few other very, very intimidating fighters, so it will be seen whether Holliday is of the same mold or still a work in progress!

His opponent for the evening will be Hiki Antsa. Antsa is a ground specialist with a purple belt in Jiu Jitsu and wonderful wrestling. He’s shown he can win both with striking on the ground as well as a submission if the opportunity presents itself. He has fallen victim to a loss via strikes in standup, so that’s something he’ll have to be wary of tonight against Holliday. With a 2-1 record and coming off a win in his most recent fight, Antsa is…well, ansty…to show that he belongs to be considered among the top in the division.

How about it Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Antsa via TKO (Strikes)

Antsa is a tough nut and unless Holliday has some excellent takedown defense, this thing will end up on the ground and in Antsa’s kitchen. Once that happens, it’s probably only a matter of time. Antsa is still in the undercards right now, but a win tonight will catapult him into the top of the card in the future and give him a chance to start talking path to contendership. Holliday will want to start his career off with a win though, so don’t expect him to just lie down without a fight!

*********

Featherweight Main Card Bout #1

Warran Peace (6-2-0) vs. Charles Luciano (4-2-0)

As we head into the top of the card here, normally we’d be looking at two very accomplished fighters who should give the fans all the excitement that a top of the card fight should bring!

You’ve got “Lucky” Luciano trying to continue developing a heck of a record in Sucker Punch, having come in and won his first two rounds in the Sorter Series before losing to eventual finalist Count Dankula. No shame there in that loss at all. Now, tonight, he’d be up against what many would consider a very tough bit of competition with Warran Peace and some may consider it an uphill battle.

But…yep, there it is…that big ole but! No, not Butt Donkey, I didn’t say anything about you. HA! But…Warran Peace has two big things going against him tonight. First, his manager has been MIA for about 12 days now, which is both surprising and a shame for such a good fighter. Second, his manager has let his confidence fall into complete disrepair, as he has zero morale coming into this fight. That does NOT bode well for his ability to get this on the ground, and then assert his dominance there. Which is normally what he does, ground…inflict punishment…make the other guy cry. But maybe not tonight!

That about right Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Luciano via TKO (Strikes)

With zero confidence coming in for Peace, you have to go with Luciano on this one. And if he can walk away with a win, you know he’ll take it and run, and enjoy that new 5-2 record. Peace could be tough even without the confidence and lack of attention in his corner, but it’s a lot going against him tonight.

Suzy spoke with Luciano earlier this afternoon, as he was back at the hotel preparing for the big event tonight…

Suzy Sucker Punch: Lucky, a big, big night for you. With a potential win in this one, you could take a big step towards contender status. Reports have it that your opponent has been sulking around and not quite seeming to be focused on this fight. So perhaps the advantage swings in your direction. How do you feel heading into this?

Charles Luciano: I'll be honest with you, Suzy, this is a big night for me. I've been here in Sydney training for a couple weeks now because I wanted to corner my teammate Rumble Johnson last week. He and I have trained together for years. Our new gym, The Rubber Guard Emporium in Las Vegas, is spectacular. Any young kids interested in becoming mixed martial artists should ask their parents to sign them up for the summer camps we have scheuled in August. You'll get the chance to work with some real Tycoon legends, in addition to our elite coaching staff. Anyway, where was I? Oh right, Rumble. I was in his corner last Saturday when he flattened Aron Egomi in this very same gym, with some of these very same fans watching. It's hard to describe how happy I was for him in that moment. Seeing one of my teammates earn a title shot has been inspiring. This last week of training was one of the most intense of my career. I saw what it takes to reach the pinnacle and upped my focus accordingly. The intensity of my last few sparring sessions was through the roof. I'm confident, I'm ready and I'm feeling as good as I've ever felt. So I plan to match what my teammate Rumble Johnson accomplished by earning a title shot later this evening. It might be a knockout, it might be a submission, it might go the distance and test me mentally. I'm prepared for everything. This is what I do it for, moments like these in front of thousands of adoring fans. I want to prove I can hang with the best in the world before the final curtain comes down on my career in the next few months. I'm giving this everything I've got. I hope to see you in the winner's circle, Suzy. Now it's time for a quick nap.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Good luck as you get ready, rest up, come out and be your best! The crowd is there and knows this is a big fight for both of you!

Featherweight Main Card Bout #2

Ramon Rabbit (5-2-0) vs. Kaoru Nagashima (2-1-0)

We have a big one next Donkey! Crazy eyes Nagashima is up in the cage next for us against a very talented, very dangerous Ramon Rabbit!

Most of Rabbit’s record so far is from his kickboxing days. Ever since then, he’s gone 2-1 with us here at Sucker Punch which is right in line with Nagashima. Rabbit will hold the advantage in most areas tonight…most certainly in boxing and Muy Thai…but even slightly in wrestling. He’s not a fan of taking it to the ground though, and will much prefer to stand and fight again tonight.

Nagashima doesn’t hold the advantage in many areas tonight, but the one area he does is going to be key for him. He has a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu and is going to absolutely want this fight on the ground and preferably ending in a submission victory. Much like Rabbit, he has gone W, L, W in his last three fights, all here at Sucker Punch, and will be seeking to turn his win streak into a streak of two just as much as Rabbit wants to do the same!

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Pick: Nagashima via Submission (Triangle)

This is the first super, super tough one for me to make a call this evening. I mean, I’m not claiming I’ll be correct on all the picks before this, but this is the first one where I can’t just MAKE a pick quickly. Both men are amped up, gassed up and ready to go! Which is fantastic. I think this one may make it to the ground though, and when it does, that brown belt is going to pay dividends.

*********

Featherweight Main Card Bout #3

Jack Sparrow (9-1-0) vs. Adrian Petrov (3-6-0)

Our last fight before our two Main Events, this one would normally be a real treat for the fans…and we had high hopes it would be when we booked it! Unfortunately, one of these things is not like the other…and that would be Petrov, who comes into this with ZERO morale.

Donkey, I’m not sure why Petrov seems to be refusing to change those clothes and get his morale up! It just seems silly, he has so much potential! He’s a ground specialist with wonderful wrestling and a purple belt in BJJ. But without any morale or confidence, it doesn’t really do him any favors or help him to really commit to the takedowns he’ll need tonight if he wants to win!

Jack Sparrow on the other hand comes into this with a well-earned 9-1 record, a record he looks to try to continue to improve thanks to his manager’s attention to detail. He comes into this fight topped off on energy, with his morale on high, and undoubtedly with a game plan that is focused on taking home the W and a new shiny TEN wins. He also is a ground based fighter…so, from that perspective Petrov gets lucky, because he may not have to be the one to get this one to the ground. The problem is, Sparrow is very likely to help Petrov get it to the ground, but not in the position Petrov wants! Sparrow can win either by submission or by pounding you into a loss, whichever you…he rather…he, chooses.

So this goes to the ground…but what about after that Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Sparrow via Submission (Strikes)

I don’t care if Sparrow does do Petrov the favor of taking this to the ground, with no confidence you’re not winning against a guy like Sparrow who has proven he not only can win, but usually does. This is a big mistake for Petrov to come into this one unprepared. He’s likely to pay for it by leaving with a 3-7 record. Sparrow on the other hand could walk away 10-1, and be in a position to make the case that he should be the next top contender! That decision will be up to his manager to decide if he’s ready or not…IF he wins.

*********

Co-Main Event

Featherweight Main Card Bout #4

Julian Concrete (3-0-0) vs. Kurt Cobain (3-1-0)

And here we are, heading into our Main Events of the evening Donkey! These next two warriors have only one loss between them, and six wins!

Both come into this fight ready to rock and roll, with the exception of a little bit of energy loss on Concrete’s part. It’s not horrendous, but he does start out at about 90%. That CAN factor in, normally. But this fight is unlikely to go the distance anyway, with both of these gentlemen having some boulders for hands!

Let’s get one thing out of the way here fast and be done with it. The ground game. Neither care about it, and it’s not gonna happen in this one! So there, we’ve covered that! Concrete is 3-0 and has finished all of his fights via KO or TKO. He’s going to want to stand and bang again tonight, and we’re going to find out if he is the baddest man with his hands…or…

…is it Cobain who is the baddest in town right now with the hands? These men are about the same skill wise on the feet. Concrete may have the slightest of edges boxing, but Cobain has the better wrestling which should help him considerably in the clinch. He’s 3-1 and until his last fight, when he lost via sub to Hiki Antsa, he’d KO’d or TKO’d all of his opponents in the first round.

Donkey, Cobain has never bothered with the clinch before, but tonight, it’s the one area where he’ll have the advantage. Do you think he’ll use it…?

Donkey’s Pick: Concrete via TKO (Strikes)

This is going to be an absolutely insane slobber knocker! I don’t know if it’ll last long, or be done in a matter of seconds, but this one is going to see some fists flying…and flying hard. Here’s what we do know…we do know that Concrete has a granite chin, but unfortunately, we don’t know what Cobain has. He showed great cardio early on, which means his physical in that area was overwhelming anything else and hiding what he might have. So…I’m going to go with the chin in this one! But damn, I will NOT be missing this fight Hare! Not at all…and the winner is likely right there in making a case that they should be the next contender after we belt a champion tonight in the Main Event!

*********

Main Event

Featherweight CSS Semi-Finals: #1 vs. #2

Count Dankula (3-0-0) vs. Andy Veidt (6-1-0)

Well Donkey, here we are! The Main Event of the evening! And boy, could a Sorter Series tournament work itself out seeding wise any more accurately than to end up with the #1 and #2 seeds facing each other in the Finals?!? This is it baby, for all the marbles…the one who walks away victorious in this fight will forever be known as the first Sucker Punch Featherweight Champion!

3-0 Dankula versus 6-1 Veidt!!! This is a MONSTER matchup Donkey!!!! And my god, would you look at the way these two match up? I mean, this may be the closest fight skill wise of any of our championship fights from the Sorter Series! Dankula is a boxer with mediocre Muy Thai, strong wrestling and a blue belt. Veidt is a Muy Thai fighter with strong boxing, wonderful Muy Thai, superb wrestling and a blue belt in BJJ.

Boxer versus clincher? Well, sort of. Technically Veidt is a Muy Thai artist, but…he doesn’t tend to use it. Honestly, it’s probably more for clinch defense and the ability to avoid being raped there than anything. In reality, he likes to stand there and punch you…hard. Of his six wins, he’s won via TKO five times and KO once.

Dankula is no different. The majority of the time he has tended to stand there and let em fly. He did clinch up in his first fight against Jack Reacher, but tonight, I don’t see that being his preferred method given Veidt’s advantage in the clinch.

So…wow…we may see a toe to toe, stand up and bang contest to see who the baddest man in the Featherweight division really is tonight Donkey!

What do you think Donk-a-doodle-doo…?

Donkey’s Pick: Dankula via KO (Punch)

Hare, if you ever…and I mean ever…call me that again, I’m going to Donk you right in the nose harder than either of these guys would tonight! And that’s saying something, these two can strike, and strikes hard, and with accuracy. This is going to be an amazing contest! I’d love to tell you that I have some inside information from prior fights that’s going to give me a hint and as to who might be the victor here. But…both have shown themselves to have KO Power and Heavy Hands! So…I’m flipping a coin here Hare…let’s see…by knockout…we have…haha, well. I’ll go Dankula as the top seed. But damn, I can’t wait to see what really happens here!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

Don’t blink, don’t look away…and for God’s sake, if you don’t have tickets, get them!!! This is a can’t miss event! Yeah, the Featherweights definitely bring the power and boom, small in size, big in excitement! I wouldn’t miss this, and that’s not because I’m paid to be there! Come be a part of it with us folks…you won’t be disappointed in this card!

Enjoy the fun, and till next time…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Dismantle "Donkey, you suck! You jinxed me!"

Cobain "It was a hell of a war, hat off to my opponent! That was an amazing fight and we beat the shit out of each other for nearly two and a half rounds. I'm sure the fans enjoyed it, and whoever Concrete's next opponent is better be ready for a beat down. That man's a beast and I promise you he ain't losing twice! But Donkey, gotta say I loved proving you wrong tonight."

Featherweight Cockshot Sorter Series: SEMI-FINALS

Hey there Sucker Punch fans, Hare Rumpler here, along with our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and our Suzy Sucker Punch, our friendly neighborhood media correspondent! Finally catching up on the review here from early this past weekend, I apologize, we’ve been off in Maine on a trip with the family, which is ongoing. This is going to be an abbreviated review (maybe, unless I just can’t help myself there Donkey!) because I’m working on a laptop with no external mouse, no dual screens, nothing. Ack! First world problems, eh Donkey? Hahaha!

We had a fantastic evening a few nights ago at the 5,750 seat Bondi Outdoor Arena! With 10 Featherweight battles on the card, including our very first championship fight for the division, this was a good one and boy, did some of these fights get the fans going a bit nuts! Oh hell, it had me going a bit nuts, eh Donkey? Can’t blame me though!

So let’s get going, but first a word about our sponsor!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Jakob Goulding Defeats Jack Reacher via Submission (Kimura)

Reacher came into this fight low o morale despite having gone 0-4 coming in and really needing a win. With Goulding having proved he can win and being a bit more prepared, that left the decision a pretty easy one for Donkey.

Reacher started this thing out fairly well, getting a few good shots in standing and stuffing two takedown attempts by Goulding. But on the third attempt Goulding was not to be denied and finally put this on the canvas where we expected it to end up.

Once on the ground and with Reacher having low morale in the first place, reducing his confidence and will to fight, it was only a matter of time and at just under two mins this thing was all over via submission!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

For Reacher, this is a devastating loss as he now moves to 0-5 and will need to step back and do a serious evaluation of where he stands as a fighter. For Goulding though, moving to 6-4 breathes life into his career and helps him start to separate away from being a .500 fighter, which is a very big deal. Great job by Goulding to take care of business and continue on the right path!

Featherweight Undercard Bout #2

Sorsa Lokki Defeats O Chen Purjalsta via Unanimous Decision

Donkey went against his instincts when he made his pick on this one. Purjalsta was in worse shape morale and energy wise heading into this fight, yet, due to having what Donkey thought would be the better ground game, he stuck with him as his pick anyway!

Well, chalk this up as yet another instance where Donkey should have stuck to his guns. Purjalsta got this fight to the ground every round. Yet, Lokki was able to weather the storm and actually win it in the judges’ eyes by doing enough in standup to take this fight.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

What we didn’t expect is that Purjalsta refrained from any sort of submission game at all and went with pure ground and pound as his approach. And…it did work, he landed 23 of 24 shots on the ground, which is significant. It just didn’t phase Lokki who seemed more than capable of handling it. Lokki has been taken out via TKO and KO before in his career…so the question is…does Purjalsta have pillows for hands perhaps? Purjalsta will very much need to rebound in his next fight with a win, while Lokki takes a big step towards righting the ship with this win!

Featherweight Undercard Bout #3

Luke Skywalker Defeats Mickey DIsmantle via Submission (Kimura)

This fight lived up to its billing, right down to the somewhat surprising ending as called by Donkey! DIsmantle did exactly what you’d expect him to do…try to keep it standing, and fire away with those fists of his in an attempt to put Skywalker away.

That’s where Skywalker’s effort really shone through though. First, he didn’t land a high percentage of his takedowns…which is something he really needed to do, get it to the ground. But, he did land a couple, and that’s what he needed. But…before even getting to that, the impressive part was his striking defense and the fact that he managed to mostly prevent damage from a talented striker in Dismantle, biding his time and taking advantage on the ground when the opportunity presented itself.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Skywalker did exactly what he needed to do…let that Granite Chin of his work it’s magic, but not allow it to take so much abuse that it got overwhelmed. Work on takedowns when he could get them, and put it away once he got a good chance. This is the type of fight Skywalker has needed to have in order to get things going. To finally win one against a very impressive opponent is huge. For DIsmantle, he’ll need to go back and figure out if there are some holes he needs to fill, or if this was just a tactics thing. It’s nothing to panic over, but you don’t want to repeat it, that’s for certain.

*********

Featherweight Undercard Bout #4

Jun Sekii Defeats Dave Metal via KO (Punches)

Sekii nailed Metal in this one just like you nailed the pick Donkey! Without a manager in his corner, Metal really seemed to lack direction in this fight. Sekii pretty much controlled things from start to finish, which is why I’m surprised it actually lasted into the second round. This never went to the ground, and we didn’t expect it to with two guys who like to stand and bang!

Metal had no answer when at distance boxing. Sekii dominated with his boxing the entire way. The fight went to the clinch for a good portion of the time, and even there Metal wasn’t able to land significant strikes, with his focus mainly being on using his elbows. Sekii more than won in the clinch as well, landing enough shots to both impress the judges, had it come down to that, but more importantly, wear down his opponent through the majority of the first round, setting Metal up for the big finish early in the second.

Donkey’s Pick: Sekii via KO (Punch)

Sekii gets KO of the Night on this one with a big finish, setting Metal up with the right, the left…and then upon dropping Metal, coming in with a flying punch for the highlight finish! This one had the fans on their feet really getting into the card after the fight before this which lit the fire under them. With this win, Sekii moves to three in a row and continues to advance towards making noise and making a case for himself. Metal on the other hand is now retired and will be leaving Sucker Punch after his manager was caught being a multi.

Featherweight Undercard Bout #5

Hiki Antsa Defeats Max Holliday via TKO (Strikes)

Our last Undercard bout of the evening and Donkey pegs this one right on! Nice going Donkey, you’re on fire with this card tonight!

We knew that newcomer to Sucker Punch, Max Holliday, was going to want to keep this on his feet and use his all around standup skills. And honestly, while he was able to keep it there, he did do well, landing shot after shot, going 100% with his strikes…both fists and feet! He landed more than a few, five to the head, seven to the body, five combos, a couple leg kicks and even one well placed to the body!

Antsa took the punishment and shrugged it off, which is impressive given Holliday is managed by Kribbson Thunder, known for making some very good strikers. But, Antsa nonetheless did get past that striking and got this to the ground, which is where he likes to work. He’s known for being very flexible there and mixing it up, this one was no different. Once on the canvas, the tables were turned, he was the one to land all of the shots, using some very abusive ground and pound, along with a couple sub attempts just to keep Holliday off balance! Into the second period and another two minutes into that one and finally the shots were taking their toll…all setting up a decisive moment when Antsa got mount, a very bad position for any opponent of his, and finished this thing off with some monster shots!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Well, we warned everybody that Antsa was one tough nut, and now everybody knows never to misunderstand what we mean by that. He can take the shots, and he can certainly dish them out when it’s his turn! This is the fight that Antsa needed to really propel him into the top tier of the division and give him an opportunity to start making a case for himself! Big, huge win! For Holliday, not the way he wanted to start his career out, but also plenty of time to bounce back!

Featherweight Main Card Bout #1

Warran Peace Defeats Charles Luciano via TKO (Strikes)

I have to admit, this result was shocking for me Donkey! Yes, we know Warran Peace is an extremely talented fighter. But he came in with an absent manager and zero morale. That USUALLY spells doom in a fight. But…not in this fight.

Shortly into this match Peace got the takedown. Luciano did the right thing and went about attempting subs and had plenty of chances at them. Surprisingly, even with zero morale, Peace was able to fend off all seven sub attempts! In the meantime, he was dropping a few well place and timely bombs on Luciano with his nasty, bad intentioned ground and pound.

Just before the three minute mark, Luciano made another sub attempt, this time at a guillotine, missed and whiffed on it, and that opened the door for Peace to just unload on him. Sure enough, Luciano was forced to cover up and try what little defense he could before the ref put a stop to this thing.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Certainly it was surprising for me to see Peace do such a nice job defending against takedowns with zero morale. Normally, that just doesn’t happen and they don’t have the confidence to fend off their attacker in those situations. But not only did he shun those attacks, he managed to muster the will to unleash hell in the GnP in a calculated, surgical manner. Well done by Peace! For Luciano, he’s had a great run. We hear that now he’s going to roll off and move on to another portion of his career. Maybe coaching? Motivational speaking? Whatever he does, hopefully he does it with as much enthusiasm, it was great having him along for the ride and we wish him well.

Featherweight Main Card Bout #2

Kaoru Nagashima Defeats Ramon Rabbit via Submission (Kimura)

Going in, we had said that this fight was going to be a big one, and a very dangerous one at the same time for two very talented, but very different, fighters. Rabbit is a stand up fighter who can do a lot of damage there. Nagashima would want this fight on the ground in the worst way so he could work the submission game.

Donkey called this one on the money. For the entire first round, Rabbit had this one in hand and was working his game. He was landing most strikes at will while at the same time thwarting all attempts by Nagashima to get this thing to the ground. To the tune of ten takedowns turned away! Wow, a very, very nice job of controlling the fight and forcing it to stay on the feet while dishing out some punishment!

But Nagashima weathered the storm. He took the shots, and boy, did Rabbit dish them out and between both strikes and kicks landed 46 of them out of 49 attempts…that’s a lot of pain and punishment. Yet, Nagashima absorbed it and kept at it. The second round came, and finally it was Nagashima’s time! He got the takedown right away…finally! And then…the submission game started in earnest! Six attempts later, he finally locked in the kimura and this thing was all over! What a turn of events!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A stellar fight with both men showing what they do really, really well. It’s just impressive that Nagashima was able to take so many shots and not fold under that pressure…and punishment. I had a hunch though that eventually he’d get this thing to the ground and if he did, things would turn. That’s exactly what happened! Nagashima moves to 3-1 with two wins in a row and has some serious momentum now. Rabbit on the other hand moves to 2-2 and has to be disappointed in an opportunity lost.

Kaoru awaits Suzy Suckerpunch in the Octagon, as she approaches he has his cornerman come over and hands her a bag full of fresh clams.

Kaoru Nagashima: I told you all last time and now I have confirmed in front of all comers the lessons of Akirono know no bounds and transcend this mortal coil just as Donkey Dan has proven himself wise as the great prophet and foresaw my victory. For this period I trained, I ran to Mount Fujihara where I spent my youth, I slept in tree, and drank from the stream until I took my ultimate test, swimming under the water for hundreds of miles without surfacing. I became one with the ocean and connected with a sea turtle. When I awoke I had found myself near the great Clam Rishomori and he spoke to me the key to this great victory before you all tonight he said "Bring him to the earth, clench the arm shut against like the jaws of a clam and you will reign victorious" when I left they gave me many clams to sustain me as I rode to the Arena on my turtle friends back and I continue my ascent to godhood, my only true opponent the man who started it all and my greatest friend, Donkey Dan.

Suzy Sucker Punch: Donkey…Hare. Sometimes my job becomes very strange and confusing…haha!

Featherweight Main Card Bout #3

Jack Sparrow Defeats Adrian Petrov via TKO (Strikes)

Unfortunately for Petrov our premonitions on this one came through almost exactly to plan, the only difference being that Donkey called the finish via sub rather than TKO on the ground. Not that it couldn’t have gone that way as well, Sparrow had his shots at that as well.

Prior to this fight we knew Petrov was coming in lacking morale and confidence. Usually in the ground game that’s a killer. Well, it’s a killer anytime, but I’m a firm believer it really does you in on the ground. Sure enough, Sparrow got the takedown right from the bell and while Petrov doesn’t mind being on the ground, he was already on the bottom and in a bad position against a guy like Sparrow who loves to mix it up between GnP and Jiu Jitsu.

The two actually traded sub attempts for a while back and forth, with Sparrow also scoring some nice shots in between just to let Petrov know who was in control! With Petrov unable to muster the will to improve position, this one wasn’t mean to last forever though, and at just under two minutes into this fight Sparrow landed the finishing blows to put this one away.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Sparrow walks away 10-1 and as I said in the preview, is now in a position to make the case that he should be the next top contender! I have to say, I would really love to see that, but at the same time I know his manager has indicated he truly feels Sparrow is more of a gatekeeper due to some developmental considerations. Either way, he’s been an impressive and is clearly and important part of the division. For Petrov, this is a very disappointing loss and one that is making it tough to bounce back the way he clearly wants to. Next fight is going to be a very important one for him as he’s now 3-7 and desperately needs to move back towards .500. We’ll be watching that morale…if it doesn’t improve, that may tell the tale on whether Aaron Work is truly dedicated to Petrov or not. Change those clothes boys, get back to camp and get some clean, non-stinky ones going…and keep changing for a week or more until that morale is back!

Co-Main Event

Featherweight Main Card Bout #4

Kurt Cobain Defeats Julian Concrete via TKO (Strikes)

Our Co-Main Event of the evening between Concrete and Cobain was billed as a potential blockbuster and it did not disappoint! These two warriors stood and went at it for over two rounds, going toe to toe, into the clinch, strike for strike and boy, did this crowd love it! Easily the highest rated fight of the night, and for damned good reason!

These two let it all out, and between them they had well over 130 strikes thrown, with over 60 of those vicious shots landing! Cobain was the more efficient striker with over 50% of his shots landing, and it seems that that may have been the key to this fight as it eventually wore Concrete down. Make no mistake though, he weathered a hell of a fight up to that point in the third!

Early in the second it looked like this fight was going to go the other way though! About 90 seconds into that second round Concrete landed a beautiful three punch combo that rocked Cobain…and saw him stumbling around for a bit. Cobain recovered beautifully though, and it was amazing how quickly he was able to shake off and recover from such a devastating combination of shots!

Not to be outdone, about a minute later Cobain managed to find an opening and tagged Concrete good right on the chin, rocking him right back! Crete’s legs were gone under him for a few seconds, but to his credit, he kept those hands up in defense and kept this one from ending!

Both fighters managed to keep this fight going past the end of the round and into the third, where just under two minutes into that round Cobain caught Crete with a huge right that finally signaled the beginning of the end. Man, what a huge fight Donkey! Two warriors who can both deliver and take a hell of a punch!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

“This is going to be an absolutely insane slobber knocker!” That’s what I said in the preview, and I wasn’t wrong! Definitely a highlight fight of the evening, and is rewarded with Fight of the Night! These are two combatants that I can’t wait to see continue their rise in the division, and I don’t think this fight diminishes the loser’s standings much given the skills, determination and prowess put on display in this one, combined with prior record. Keep an eye on these boys, we may have a contender!

Main Event

Featherweight CSS Championship Bout: #1 vs. #2

Count Dankula vs. Andy Veidt

Here we are ladies and gentlemen!!! Our Main Event and the biggest fight in the relatively short history of the Featherweight division! It’s time to finally belt our first champion, and this is the fight that’s going to do that Donkey!!! The crowd is amped after that last fight, and they’ve been set up perfectly to be all-in on this fight and the crowning of the King of the Featherweights here at Sucker Punch!

Get ready Donkey…because here comes Juice Fluffer into the cage to announce the big one! I get chills every time Donkey, even when I see the replay of things like we’re watching now…this is how the fight started…

3d8a168f5f8ff8e520307ef15bdabf4c.png

Juice Fluffer enters the cage…

“Ladies and gentlemen…this is the Maaaain Event of the evening!”

“The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Francis DeMontford and Ron Honeybunn.”

“Our sponsor for this event is Shadow Warrior Nutrition.”

“Annnnnnnd Now! The moment Sucker Punch Pro Series fans around the world have been waiting for!”

“LIVE!, from The Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney, Australia…”

“Iiiiit’s TIME! Three rounds for the Undisputed Sucker Punch Pro Series Featherweight Championship of the World!”

“Introducing first…to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With professional record of six wins, one loss and NO draws, he stands 180 centimeters tall, weighing in at 155 pounds and 20 years of age, representing Australia here in Sydney, hailing from Brisbane and fighting out of London, England…the number two seed overall in the Sucker Punch Featherweight Cockshot Sorter Series, Annnnnnnndy…Ramseeees…VEEEEEEEEIDDDTTTT!!!

“And now introducing…to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a professional record of three wins, NO losses and NO draws, he stands 170 centimeters tall, weighing in at 148 pounds and 20 years of age, from Mobile, Alabama, United states and fighting out of Amsterdam, Netherlands…the NUMBER ONE seed overall in the Sucker Punch Featherweight Cockshot Sorter Series, Couuuuuuuunnnt...DANNNNNKUUUUUULAAAAA!!!

And that was it, off we went Sucker Punch fans! Every fan in the Bondi Outdoor Arena was primed and juiced for this thing man!!!! Donkey, I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the sheer excitement of a title fight man!

This fight was not a long one Donkey, ending about halfway through the first round. Veidt was aggressive in this one, throwing a ton of head punches. Unfortunately, a low percentage were landing as Dankula came into this displaying some great striking defense! For this part, Dankula was much more reserved with his shots, not exactly countering the entire time as it seemed both were mixing it up in that respect, but certainly picking and choosing his strikes carefully.

Just before the two minute mark, the crowd got their first big “oooooh!’ moment with everybody going to their feet as Dankula got a little lazy, dropped the hands and Veidt seized the opportunity to deliver a beautiful right hook that dropped Dankula to a knee!

Dankula recovered quickly though, getting right back up and shaking it off well, a testament to his warrior heart! Veidt may have gotten a little too excited with that drop though, as just after the two minute mark, he came rushing in for a shot and paid for it, with Dankula slipping it and countering with a right to the jaw that sent blood flying! Veidt managed to stay with it though, despite the vicious shot and even came back with a counter of his own after making Dakula miss on a left hook, tagging Dankula’s jaw as almost a give back shot for the prior one from Dankula!

Dankula was unphased by that nice shot to the jaw, and came immediately back with a shot that landed HARD, rocking Veidt on his feet…leaving him open for the next shot from Dankula, a huge uppercut that landed right on the button, taking Veidt down and leading to the end after the ref jumped in to stop the following shots!

Juice Fluffer enters as the referee has both fighters in the middle of the cage…

“Ladies and gentlemen, our referee has called a stop to this contest at two minutes and twenty two seconds of round number one…”

“Declaring the winner…by Technical Knockout…ANNNNNNDDDD NEWWWWWW…Sucker Punch Pro Series…Undisputed…Featherweight Champion of the World…Couuuuuunnnnnnnnt…DANKUUUUUULAAAA!!!!

WE HAVE A CHAMPION DONKEY! We have a champ! You have anything else…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

A beautiful win by Dankula, showcasing both his skills and his heart in this one Donkey! Veidt’s manager had been away for the week leading up to the fight, and admittedly told me afterward that he just hadn’t had an opportunity to set custom strategy for this fight. Not that he’s making any excuses. But I know he’s looking forward to an eventual rematch and a chance to come in at his best! But tonight, the best man won, and Dankula is our new reigning Featherweight champ!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

I apologize that it took so long to get this review out. As I said, I’m on vacation in Maine, on a laptop with no mouse, and with very limited internet connectivity. But this was truly a great card, with some great fights and really, the ones that finished things out at the end of the evening were about as top-notch as you can get!

Enjoy all, and till next time…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Post Event Cheap Shots

WElterweight Cockshot Sorter Series: Finals

Hello out there Sucker Punch fans!!! I’m Hare Rumpler and I’m excited to bring you this event wrap-up along with our analyst, Donkey “Dan”, and Suzy Sucker Punch, our incorrigible media correspondent!

We had a card full of Welterweights with one Lightweight sparring bout kicking things off early in the evening down at the Bondi Outdoor Arena in Sydney, Australia! 5,750 screaming fans were in attendance to see these kids go out there and give it their all!

Now, normally we would have also had a championship title fight, our first for this division, on the line for this card as well. Unfortunately, the manager for Malachi Routerhead has gone MIA, which left Ronnie Bass without an opponent. That makes him the champion of the Sorter Series tournament for the Welterweights as well as the unofficial champion of the division. He will have to fight somebody else in order to have his official shot, which I hope to get set up on our next month’s card and get this division set proper and right!

Let’s hear from our sponsor, and then get on to the fights!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Our fantastic and respected sponsor is Shadow Warrior Nutrition! Many of you already know them as the providers of Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q, THE energy loss reduction supplements! For those of you who aren’t in the know on that, you should be, because this is the way you keep your fighter training more often and not taking sessions off to try to keep his energy above 90%! If you aren’t using this supplement, hurry over and check them out today, you will not be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Lightweight Undercard Sparring Bout

Buzz Armstrong Defeats Johnny Sins via Unanimous Decision

Our opening undercard bout of the evening was a sparring match between two young hopefuls. These kids came out to see what they can show their respective managers in hopes of proving themselves worthy of long term placement within their camps’ stables.

Both fresh faced and new to the scene with no prior record, it was less about winning and more about showing what kind of hiddens you might have and what your morale was like if you did lose. Sins is a Muy Thai artist while Armstrong has more focus on wrestling at this early stage of their careers.

Scheduled for one-five minute round, this fight went the distance and pretty much went all over the place. There were takedowns and sub attempts, reversals, standup, ground again and another sub attempt. With no real strikes thrown, this truly was just a roll around and see kinda who has what thing.

The big thing here really isn’t who won though. Their managers want to see what hiddens they have to show, and if they lose, all the better to check how they handle a loss.

Donkey, anything else…?

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Armstrong came out of this one with the win on paper, but the loss on career. He showed inexperience as his hidden and that’s not going to cut it. He’ll likely be sacked shortly, perhaps one more test to see if he shows something on the left side of the TotT. But unlikely to make a career fighting. For Sins, he lost, but showed a big right hand along with a very minimal loss of morale, which should make his manager very happy. I’d say the boy is a keeper!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #1

Baldomir Barbosa Defeats Hugh Saber via TKO (Strikes)

With both Barbosa and Saber very much needing a win to get either of them back to .500 and prevent a further slip down the rankings this was a big match for each of them for such an early fight on the card.

Saber came out of the gate the slightly less aggressive fighter according to the play by play guys, but I’m not sure what they were watching given he threw the first two strikes, landing a short jab to wake Barbosa up! The downside to landing that strike for Saber is that it did appear to wake Barbosa up, and quickly, as he took this fight to the clinch right after and from there dominated the action.

Barbosa focused mostly on head shots, with a single to the body, and was able to control the fight fully from the clinch. Saber was trying to pull guard to get this thing to the ground, but for Barbosa, what just wasn’t going to happen, and after a huge uppercut Saber was rocked and then a big right took him down. Only a few more shots and the ref was calling this thing!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Barbosa gets a big win here in his first contest with Sucker Punch, and his first victory under his new manager, Slick Gunderson. This pulls his record to 2-2 and puts him in a good spot to grow and advance from this point forward. For Saber, he’s lost three of his last four fights and is now 2-4. He’s going to need a serious rebound soon if he wants to remain anything more than an afterthought for the fighting world.

*********

Welterweight Undercard Bout #2

Sean MacCarthy Defeats Ymakinme Crazy via TKO (Strikes)

Another contest where both fighters had a chance to come in to the Bondi Arena, get the job done, and potentially walk out with a .500 record and one step closer to getting back into relevancy! Only MacCarthy was able to cash in on this one while Crazy slips to 4-6.

Crazy started this thing out doing fairly well in standup. First, he was able to land all of his shots while separated, getting a couple head shots, a trifecta of body shots and two combos in. So he was working the game pretty well. MacCarthy, though, had a plan coming in and was taking a bit of abuse in the process of implementing it, but also was absorbing it well.

The fight went to the clinch under MacCarthy’s direction, where again, Crazy was able to land a couple shots…but this was a transitional position for MacCarthy, and he was soon pulling guard. Once on the ground, the real abuse started and the tide turned on Crazy. MacCarthy unleased the ground and pound with pure ill-intent…and it did it’s damage quickly. At just 2:22 in the first, MacCarthy had landed a nasty, huge elbow and that was it, Crazy was done with this thing.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

MacCarthy is now 2-2 here at Sucker Punch and 4-4 overall in his career. This was a good step in the right direction, but he needs to string them together now. Changing clothes and working on morale would help a lot. But not as much as it would help his opponent who came into this with low morale and leaves about the same. He desperately needs to focus on recovering morale between now and his next fight. He’s lost both of his fights here at Sucker Punch now and is 4-6 overall. If he doesn’t work on the morale and come back with a big win next fight, he may be looking at irrelevancy.

*********

Welterweight Undercard Bout #3

Igor Vovchanchyn Defeats Niki Geo via Submission (Armbar)

Vovchanchyn came tearing into Sucker Punch with everybody assuming he would be one of the favorites to win the Welterweight Sorter Series tournament. With a quick first round win over Thanos Reigns in Round 1, things seemed to be on track. Then things derailed for Vov when he came up against Ronnie Bass, the eventual tournament champion! With a recent draw against very well respected Red Crow, Vovchanchyn needed a win in this one to get his record back to .500 with the intent to work back up and prove himself a contender at some point.

Niki Geo came into Sucker Punch after having established a stellar 5-1 record, but with that loss being his last fight before joining us. All of his prior wins had come via QFC, so it was time to prove he could win against org level competition. He did that with a decision victory over Yuwanah Buhlshk in his last fight and first here at Sucker Punch. This fight was going to be a test of whether that record he brought in carried the clout to put him near the top of the division, or if it was simply QFC caliber record and needed proven further first.

To both fighters’ credit, this one turned into a war, which is a good look for both fighters! Both men seemed to have no issue with this fight going to the clinch, albeit for different reasons. First Vov took it there, then Geo. In the clinch, Geo was doing some really nice work on Vov, cutting him at one point and then, about 3 mins and 30 seconds into the first, rocking Vovchanchyn for a few moments! This one was SO close to being over right there in favor of Geo!

Vov recovered though, and eventually dragged this to the ground where he really wanted this fight in the first place…but only moments before the bell. In the second, a lot more clinching, striking, a takedown by Vov, but an escape and standup by Geo. Again, a well fought round, and excitement all around for the fans in attendance as they knew this thing could end at any time with these two combatants!

Third round, and shortly after the bell Vovchanchyn gets his revenge from that first round rocking from Geo, and returns the favor! You could see Vov was trying to end this but Geo was fighting it off even as he stumbled around trying to recover. Unable to take him out, Vov went for the takedown again and then started with a different approach, submission time! Three attempts later, Geo was unable to prevent Vov from getting the victory via Armbar!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

I really don’t know that you can consider this one a full on loss for Geo here Hare. Sure, it is a loss in record, but against a very tough competitor and Geo put up one hell of a fight! This was potentially the Fight of the Night, and I want to see more from both of these guys! For Vov, a much needed win, and a well-earned one! He fought a great fight, recovered from being rocked early which could have sent this sideways for him and then adjusted and finished the fight. You can’t ask for much more outside a highlight reel early finish when it comes to getting fans invested!

Welterweight Undercard Bout #4

DJ Costune Defeats John Fuller via TKO (Cut)

Oh boy, and was this a big one to finish off the undercards there Donkey! Two winning records going head to head to determine who is ready to move up the ladder and put themselves up there ready to make a run!

Fuller started his professional career here at Sucker Punch and got off with a full head of steam as he went 2-0 in the Welterweight Sorter Series before eventually falling to Malachi Routerhead in the semis.

Likewise, Costune had been on a tear with a win prior to joining us, and then also making it past two opponents in the Sorter Series before falling to eventual champion Ronnie Bass. With a habit of winning in a myriad of ways, it is no surprise that he found yet ANOTHER way to win in this one!

Costune’s wins had come via Decision, Submission, and TKO (Strikes) prior to this fight. This time, he added via Cuts to his resume! He came out uber aggressive in this fight with a ton of combos thrown. In the first round, he cut Fuller, then managed to knock him down followed by a rocking, all of which had the crowd on their feet for the direction this seemed to be going! Somehow, aside from having his cuts worsen as the round went on, Fuller managed to survive the round and even seemed to find his stride a bit, managing to land a fair share of his own shots, along with an array of kicks.

For the second round, Fuller switched it up and went with what’s worked in the past and took it to the ground. To his credit, Costune managed to escape back to the feet and moved it into the clinch…at which point, disappointingly, the ref called in that nasty doctor due to look at Fuller’s cuts and the fight was called.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

We will never truly know what might have happened in this one if cuts hadn’t come into play. Fuller has never shown a tendency to cut, but certainly it got ugly in this one as he decorated the cage! He did seem to be getting a bit of his groove on to start the second round, so could he have turned it around? We don’t know, but we also know he was pretty well gassed out, so likely this would have gone in Costune’s favor regardless unless he could either get a win on the ground quickly or hold on long enough that Costune wore down also. Costune, for his part, did a great job but I’m surprised he didn’t finish it early when he had the chance. Another win, and he moves forward with making a case that he should be ranked well in the division!

Welterweight Main Card Bout #1

Whaddabout Bob Defeats LetsAG DAFight via KO (Punch)

Granite chin versus knockout power! That’s what we have on store here with DAFight against Bob!

DAFight came into this one slightly off on energy, but not ridiculously so. With that said, his energy dropped off super fast in this fight! And it’s not as if he threw a ton of punches, or absorbed a ton of shots in the clinch. So, my assumption here is that he must have very low cardio. He threw six punches and two combos…with two of the head shots landing. That wasn’t nearly enough against Bob who only needed five shots to land to finish this one!

So one thing we’re going to be left asking after this is…does Bob really have THAT much KO Power…or was something else going on there with DAFight? I don’t know if he came into this fight with low morale…because afterward he seemed to be about 35% down…which could have just been normal loss from taking the loss in this one.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

DAFight had picked up a win in his fight prior to this and we were hoping that was going to be a sign that he was starting to turn things around. Clearly, that is not the case, as he’s taken out entirely too quickly for somebody with a granite chin in this fight. At 1-6 now, things begin to look grim. For Bob, he moves to 7-4 which is excellent especially given that he’s won all three here at Sucker Punch…all via KO or TKO. He’ll need a higher level of competition next fight to determine where he really belongs on the ladder. In the meantime, he has to start changing those clothes to maintain morale! Excellent win in this one for Bob, wtg!

Welterweight Main Card Bout #2

Kahdi Mandinos Defeats Luka Marka via Submission (Triangle)

Our next bout featured two ground based fighters from differing disciplines. Marka enjoys dishing out a solid, full helping of ground and pound once on the mat while Mandinos will go for the more refined submission approach!

At 3-0 for Marka and 3-2 for Mandinos, both of these warriors have proven themselves previously. This was a test to see if they could handle another ground based fighter. This fight went off as we’d expect, with Marka taking it to the ground and ending up on top, the position he’d want to be in for his dish out the pain approach. However, Mandinos isn’t uncomfortable on his back and attempting to grab onto an arm or other body part when it becomes available. That’s exactly what he did in this one…once going for the triangle…which Marka defended and denied…but got just a little slow on the reaction the second time and allowed Mandinos to tighten the triangle up.

Not a long fight, lasting just under 90 seconds. Clearly Marka’s escapes or defensive grappling may need some work, and Mandinos gets a chance to prove he can sub up even a good ground based guy.

Donkey’s Pick: Routerhead via Submission (Kimura)

You pretty much said it all there Hare. Marka will be disappointed to have lost the perfect record and now go to 3-1. But he’s going to bounce back from this. Mandinos moves to 4-2 and is ready to see if he can take a step up the ladder I would think!

Welterweight Main Card Bout #3

Kribbson Johansson Defeats Chaz Campbell via TKO (Punches)

In a fight that lasted almost a full two rounds, we had 2-1-1 Johansson facing off against 5-1 Campbell.

Campbell struggled in this one from the start, being unable to really land effectively in what boxing action did occur and then getting taken into the clinch by Johansson who was able to dominate in tight and up close. Campbell was mostly defensive trying for a body shot and a knee to the body, but missing on both and attempting to get this thing to the ground with some desperation, but failing to do so. When he did manage to break the clinch in the first, Johansson simply regained it again in short order.

With Johansson landing all but two of his 59 shots in the clinch, all from a variety of angles and techniques…head, body, elbow, knee to both the head and body…ouch…it was just a ridiculous amount of punishment for one guy to take without being able to escape!

It was no wonder that by the end of Round 2 Campbell was gassed, and after taking a vicious shot to the body he was pretty much winded and on thin ice…and the big knee up the middle after that was the beginning of the end.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Campbell is a top quality opponent, and being able to dispatch him both effectively and efficiently, remaining in control the entire time, is saying something for Johansson! This puts him right in the conversation…and his next opponent may very well dictate how close he is! For Campbell, he’ll need to figure out how to close the hole that’s now been exposed in his game, and recover from that going forward so if the same scenario comes up again, he can show them a little something-something!

Co-Main Event

Welterweight Main Card Bout

Red Crow Defeats Rebel Sith via TKO (Strikes)

Our Co-Main Event of the evening was a biggie Donkey! 7-1 Rebel Sith facing off against a very talented 1-1-1 Red Crow!

For a guy who had won seven fights in a row, including his first here at Sucker Punch…Rebel Sith suddenly starts to look mortal. I think many people assumed that his loss to Kribbson Johansson last fight before this was a bump in the road, and that he’d be back and ready to prove it as just that.

However, Red Crow had other thoughts on how this fight should go. In standup, Rebel did what he does, and struck…what he wasn’t able to do…that he usually does…is land most of them. Credit to Red Crow on that one, as most have fallen to Sith via TKO or KO due to this strikes. Crow’s strike defense clearly was up to the task as he limited his exposure there while attempting to get takedowns…which he did…and which he used to work over Sith with some nasty ground and pound. The ref stood it up once in the first about halfway in when the action got a little slow, but boom, Crow had it back on the mat again shortly after. More GnP, a little break, and another standup to end the round.

The second round started much like the first, a little standup boxing action…the difference being that this time Sith had already been punished and tenderized on the ground. A few shots thrown by both, Crow avoiding most by Sith and then, BOOM, Sith misses and Crow counters putting Sith on the ground. And then the stand and hold the ankles, coming in with the big punch action…which landed, had to hurt…and was pretty much the end of this one with the refs calling for the save!

Donkey’s Takeaways:

Sith is no small task to take out. The fact that he has lost to Johansson and now Crow in back to back fights I think says more about Johansson and Crow than it does about Sith. Sith still has to be considered dangerous, but is going to have to figure out how to avoid these scenarios when he gets himself back in line with them on the ladder in the future. For Crow, this fight really pushes him up, and now we get to see how far he is from the top!

Main Event

Welterweight Main Card Bout

Diego Diaz Defeats Rayne Dame via Submission (Armbar)

Two granite chins! Nine wins between them. Three losses each.

With a solid QFC record coming in before Sucker Punch, but then a run of three losses while here with us, it was time to find out if Dame had what it takes to step up and be considered in the middle or top of the division…or if he really is what his non-QFC record was starting to indicate and should be ranked on the lower end.

Diaz had amassed quite the record in the AWC Alliance tournament. And make no mistake, he was a star of that tournament and there was good competition in it. But, we needed to see what would happen against regular org competition, and he was a good test for Dame and likewise, Dame would indicate if Diaz could continue on his current trajectory!

The answer was…Dame was not quite ready for Diaz…and yes, Diaz could continue the same trend! Diaz initiated the takedown immediately from the bell and this thing was on the canvas in no time. From there, it was a battle for position…one that Dame lost by failing to improve four times…and instead let Diaz gain his back, with the submission attempts coming in short order!

One choke attempt from the back…fended off by Dame. Another…again, same result. Then Dame tried to get to his feet…and Diaz made a spectacular move to spin into an armbar and locked it in! Game over.

Donkey’s Takeaways:

As much as I hate to say it, it looks like those QFC wins for Dame were just that, QFC wins. He needs a “real” win desperately now to prevent himself from being overlooked entirely by the rest of the division. For Diaz, he’s ready for top of the hill competition after proving himself both in the AWC tournament and now here in Sucker Punch! Let’s see what we can throw at him next fight!

*********

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

There it is fans! A great night out at the Bondi Outdoor Arena, which unfortunately had the top closed, but still a fantastic venue and a fun night of fights! We hope you enjoyed all of the Welterweight action as these kids really brought it. I didn’t see much in the way of low energy going in and that’s fantastic. Morale wise, I wasn’t able to check after the fact, so hopefully anybody who has it low currently gets that stuff back on track! It was a fun one, and we thank you for being there with us!

Till next time folks…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

Sucker Punch Preview

Sucker Punch Pro Series 1

Alright folks! A big fun one coming tonight for us all! This is our first card that is neither a Proving Grounds test fight card, nor a Sorter Series Card dedicated mostly to one weight class. This is what most of our cards going forward will start to look like. Perhaps not this mixed up, instead usually featuring two weight classes with a couple others perhaps mixed in to fill out the card, but for the most part the days of an entire card, or 70-80% of it, being from a single weight class will be behind us as we finish up our remaining Sorter Series Finals.

Tonight at the Bondi Outdoor Arena, which has quickly become my personal favorite venue, we will start things out on the undercard with a pair of Light Heavyweight fights, then a pair of Welterweight contests followed by one more Light Heavyweight bout to finish up the start of our evening.

For the top half of the card, we will see a couple of Sucker Punch debuts with two young Featherweights, then a Light Heavyweight fight followed by another pair of Featherweights. For the Co-Main Event and Main Events we will get our groove on with a couple of Heavyweights and then a final Welterweight fight.

So like I said, things will be all over the place tonight, and hopefully the action is just as diverse and fun for all of us! Now, before we get on to the good stuff, a word from our merchandise partner and sponsor!

http://mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1584375781SWN.jpg

Shadow Warrior Nutrition will be on hand at the event this evening, and I cannot say enough about how much we appreciate having them as our merchandise partner and sponsor here at Sucker Punch! Do yourself a favor…better yet, do your fighters who you spend so much time developing and preparing a favor…and stop by the stand to grab some of their Shadow Warrior Tea 160Q. It is literally the best energy loss reduction supplement money can buy and will keep your fighter in the gym training rather than sitting days out resting! Stop on over there today, you will NOT be disappointed!

Now, let's get to it!

Undercard Bout #1: Light Heavyweight

Azir Zarus (4-2-0) vs. Some Body (1-4-0)

Starting things out, we’ll have Azir Zarus facing off against Some Body. This will be Zarus’ debut with Sucker Punch after he took part in five QFC challenges and a quick event with Medieval Combat tossed in in the middle there. For Body, this will be his third fight with Sucker Punch after splitting the last two with a loss followed by a win in his last fight against James Link.

Now, you guys all know us, and specifically Donkey, well enough by now to know that if I tell you he’s not going to be happy about something then it’s going to have to do with either morale or energy coming into a fight. For at least one fighter, if not more. Well, knowing that you should know that he will be VERY unhappy with this one given that both fighter some in with low morale, although one much worse off than the other. Zarus is at about 60%...which isn’t good, but relative to Body coming in with 10%, well, Zarus looks downright prepared relatively speaking!

Zarus will have the edge in both wrestling and Jiu Jitsu over Body. Given that Body is strictly a stand up fighter, he’ll be looking to get this one to the ground quickly just like in his last fight so he can finish it again via submission.

For Body, as a strictly stand up fighter, he’s going to want…no, need…to keep this one on the feet. The problem with that theory is that with almost no morale, that’s unlikely to happen. At 1-4, the last thing he wants to do is drop another one and go 1-5, so I’m thinking perhaps he should go for the quick kick to the dingle-dangle, pray the ref doesn’t notice, and even if he does, pray that it takes the fight out of Zarus for the fight!

Donkey, whatcha got there buddy…?

Donkey’s Pick: Zarus via Submission (Kimura)

I don’t often make “guarantees”, but I can pretty much guarantee that short of using your technique there Hare, which I don’t think is legal even here at Sucker Punch, Body will not win this fight. He doesn’t want to drop another fight and get another L tacked onto his record, but that’s likely what’s going to happen tonight. Zarus should be able to roll through this and get the takedown at will, and then the submission shortly after. He didn’t do himself any favors coming in low on morale either, but it should be enough to get the job done. The other saving grace that Body might have is that Zarus’ manager has not logged in in 17 days now. So likely no strategy has been put in place for this fight. It’s probably safe to assume that it’s going to go exactly as the last fight. But the question is, can you stop it? And will it matter, as Body’s manager has not logged in in the past 3 days either.

Undercard Bout #2: Light Heavyweight

Jon Snow (1-2-0) vs. Adam Webber (1-5-0)

Our second fight of the night, also between Light Heavyweights, sees newcomer to Sucker Punch Jon Snow going up against Adam Webber. Webber finally gets a shot to see action again here after his second fight with us ended up a No Contest thanks to Bruce Li, his previously scheduled opponent, failing to make weight.

In his only other fight with us so far, Webber lost to Soons Sam via TKO which dropped him to his current record of 1-5 after he had lost two and then won one with Checkmate. Bookending his time with Checkmate was two losses in QFC battles. His morale comes in low, about 35% or so, which will just thrill Donkey (it won’t, btw, in case you missed the sarcasm!). Webber has wonderful boxing and a blue belt in BJJ, but hardly any Muy Thai or wrestling skill.

Jon Snow will make this even more annoying for Donkey because he too comes into this fight with his morale low at barely at 60%. He too has wonderful boxing, but where Webber has the blue belt in BJJ, Snow has a white but has competent wrestling.

Honestly, I don’t know what to make of these two with the morale and skillsets, so I’m just going to throw this over to Donkey and weasel out of it!

What do you think Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Snow via Unanimous Decision

Do I think this is really going to go to a Decision? Not really. But just like Hare, I’m not sure which direction to go with things in this one. I like Webber to potentially win this via submission if it gets to the ground, but his morale just plain sucks. That’s never good and always seems to hurt on the ground. At the same time, I’m not sure Snow’s morale will help him go in with the confidence to end this with strikes either, which is where I suspect he needs to win it. The only thing I really know about this contest is that both participants really, really need to change their clothes and work on the morale. That should be the most important takeaway from tonight, aside from the fact that both of these guys very much need a win.

*********

Undercard Bout #3: Welterweight

Andrey Nikonov (2-3-0) vs. Igor Nox (1-6-0)

The good news? Here in our third fight of the evening, we finally have a fighter who is pretty much coming in fully prepared in Andrey Nikonov! The bad news? Yep, his opponent is not! Igor Nox is just slightly off on energy, about 10% maybe but is further off on morale at about 80%. The two combined can add up a bit, especially for a guy who is currently 1-6 and very much needs to be doing everything right to get a win!

Outside that, these two match up extremely well! Nox has the height advantage by 14 cm while Nikonov is the heavier of the two by 5 lbs. One stick, one not.

Nox has not won since his second fight, a QFC one at that, and has now been on a five fight losing streak, including the last three which were here at Sucker Punch. He needs to turn this around in the worst way! He’s an all-around balanced fighter, with competent boxing and Muy Thai, mediocre wrestling and a blue belt. In the past, he has tried to use the clinch as a means of then getting to the ground and attempting some ground and pound. He is supposedly heavy handed, but so far with the distributed skill set he’s been unable to produce the consistency to use that trait well, and has lost via both sub and TKO in the past.

For Nikonov, he’s built, at least on the surface, similarly to Nox. Perhaps not quite as good boxing, but marginally better wrestling. He’s 2-3, so while he has shown he can win, he needs to get back to .500 and prove he can start stringing them together a bit. This is the perfect opportunity to start that process given his opponent is not fully prepared. In Nikonov’s prior wins he’s succeeded with both the clinch and being aggressive there, as well as getting to the ground and using some GnP/sub attempts. So while we don’t know which direction he might go in tonight, here’s what we do know…he hates pizza, loves gardening…oh, and Suzy…ahem…apparently he’s good in bed!

Over to you Donkey, what do ya have for us…?

Donkey’s Pick: Nikonov via TKO (Strikes)

Hare, not only is it inappropriate for you to put Suzy on the spot like that, I’m pretty sure it could be considered sexual harassment and get you into some hot water with HR and possibly legal! Don’t you know that that stuff doesn’t fly anymore? Anyways, you’ve been warned. Suzy, I’m a witness, along with all our fans! As for this fight, Nikonov should be able to pull this out given the energy and morale advantage, plus seeming to have a better feel with what he wants to do with the combination of skillsets he’s got going.

*********

Undercard Bout #4: Welterweight

Alex Driver (1-4-0) vs. Thanos Reigns (1-4-0)

Our fourth fight of the night, and these two are probably the closest we’ve seen so far to both being prepared. Sure, Driver is about 10% off on morale, but given what we’ve had to work with so far, we won’t harp on that! What we will look at pretty heavily is the fact that both of these kids are 1-4 currently in their careers and quite frankly, this fight could be a make-it or break-it point for both of them! One of these two will potentially get a little closer to being back on track, and maybe gain some momentum and confidence, while the other could be set back pretty badly at 1-5.

Driver is primarily a Muy Thai fighter with proficient wrestling. It should be noted that while he is technically 1-4, two of those losses were in grappling, so in MMA he is 1-2 with his only win coming in a QFC fight before he joined us at Sucker Punch. That fight was over almost before it began and saw Driver winning via a counter punch that rocked his opponent and gave him a 22 second victory. In his last fight, a loss to Konrad Wagner, he was making use of the clinch extensively, and when not in the clinch was almost always going for high kicks.

Reigns’ sole victory came two fights back against Darren Thomas here at Sucker Punch. He made heavy use of the clinch in that battle and landed most of the shots he took. Including the knee to the head that finally ended it. His other two fights were agaist Vovchanchyn and Marka, both fighters who at the time got the better of him and didn’t give us much of a chance to see Reigns establish any plan.

What do you have for us, Donkey...?

Donkey’s Pick: Driver via TKO (Strikes)

I’m thinking that this will go to the clinch and once there, Reigns should have the advantage possibly given physicals for his age and his past use of the clinch. However, I don’t like the lack of wrestling along with the clinch. Could he win this on the ground? I don’t know about that either, and for that reason I have to suspect that Driver may come out of this on top. But this is just a shot in the dark honestly! They both need this one bad, so it may simply come down to whose manager game planned better!

*********

Undercard Bout #5: Light Heavyweight

Ross Rhea (3-2-0) vs. Devin Ecker (0-0-0)

Ross Rhea and Devin Ecker close out the Undercard for us tonight with both men making their Sucker Punch debut! And for Ecker, this is also his professional debut on top of that! Pretty cool Donkey, a couple of new faces! They won’t be “new” for long I think!

Bonus Donkey, both are fully prepared, fueled up and morale set to go baby! So that should keep you from scowling over there like you do!

Rhea, managed by Bob Mogg, will have a distinct advantage in standup, both boxing and Muy Thai. On the other hand, Andrew Churchill’s kid Devin Ecker will be the better wrestler in this fight with both fighters having a blue belt in BJJ.

In past fights, it’s looked like Rhea has liked to clinch up and do some work up close with his opponents. Will he try that again tonight against a formidable wrestler? Another thing we noticed is that Rhea has a solid chin, but clearly it’s not a granite. He’s been gotten to before, and also, while it has never been indicated that he has a tendency to cut, he has taken quite a few in past fights. That will be something to watch!

For Ecker, he’s a blank slate with nothing to go by. Our guess is that he’s going to go to the ground, or try to, and either use some GnP, or more likely, sub attempts.

Any thoughts there Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Rhea via TKO (Strikes)

I’m taking the safe route here and going with a known commodity until we know a bit more about the new kid! But, nothing would surprise me tonight, and the new guy on the block could walk away with this one. It’ll be exciting to find out how this one goes!

*********

Main Card Bout #1: Featherweight

Akara Kongsangchai (1-0-0) vs. Michael Aalto (1-0-0)

As we move into the main card tonight, we have something exciting here Donkey, which is two more new kids making their Sucker Punch debut with us! That’s pretty cool, with back to back fights like that. Both of these kids come in with a 1-0 record and one of them, barring some craziness, will leave here 2-0 and working up that ladder! Both are also fully prepared for this fight, so again, bingo! Love it!

Both of these kids are 20 years old and have been training just about the same amount of time. It truly is a great matchup Donkey! Kongsangchai…can I just call you Kong?...thanks…yeah, so Kong will walk into the cage being the better standup fighter in both boxing and Muy Thai. And if you go by his prior win via decision, he really, really likes to clinch up and work from there.

His opponent, Aalto, has decent skills in standup and wrestling, but the big difference here is his brown belt in Jiu Jitsu! He’s going to want to work the ground game, being that he also has a history of grappling with a 3-2 record there, and won his only MMA fight in the QFC via Armbar.

Donkey…?

Donkey’s Pick: Aalto via Submission (Armbar)

We don’t have a ton to go by yet with these kids, but what I can go by is what we’ve seen as you noted above Hare. With that focus on the clinch by…er, yeah, Kong works…by Kong, it may set up the takedown for Aalto and from there the superior BJJ skills would likely come into play big time. But Kong can feel free to go out there and prove me wrong, either by changing his game plan or following it but preventing the takedown!

Main Card Bout #2: Light Heavyweight

Titus Fury (7-1-0) vs. Tito Slamcock (2-2-0)

Moving right along Donkey! Next up, Fury vs…um, well…ahhhh, Slamcock! Well damn Donkey, if there’s a guy who was ever meant for Sucker Punch, I don’t know who was! Ha.

Fury was on a roll having won a QFC tournament under prior management and then winning again in our Sorter Series right up until the Semi-Finals when he ran into my own Sacrificial Lamb. I had originally been anticipating a loss in that fight, but Fury got exposed coming into the fight with low morale and subsequently an inability to drive through and complete his takedowns likely due to a lack of confidence. Unfortunately for Fury, he comes into this one tonight at only about 60% morale again. So could this play out similarly? Fury’s game is simple, get you to the ground and submit you. Prevent that, and you’ve taken away what he’s got, at least, from what we’ve seen so far. But that’s the trick…can you prevent it? He’s making it easier with that morale.

Slamcock is 2-2, with his last two fights ending in losses, one via TKO by knees the last by decision. He’s been hanging out up to this point over in the Florida Fight Squad, an org for 19 year olds and under. He’s clearly now about to age out of that and has been let go to move on, and we’re the lucky ones to get him! Slamcock is a Muy Thai artist with respectable wrestling to supplement it. He’s going to need to use every bit of that wrestling if he wants to clinch up tonight to keep this not only on the feet, but to ensure he controls and dictates the fight in the clinch to get the win.

Donkey, what are you thinking…?

Donkey’s Pick: Slamcock via TKO (Strikes)

Going to go out on a limb here and assume that with that wrestling Slamcock has good takedown defense and defensive grappling. If he does, he may be able to do the same to Fury that Lamb did, only from the clinch rather than boxing. If this goes to the ground though, I think this is probably over and Fury walks away 8-1!

*********

Main Card Bout #3: Featherweight

KJ Aldo (4-2-0) vs. Hunter Killer (4-1-0)

Next up in our final Main Card fight before the Main Events we have two very accomplish young warriors who, much like the four fighters a few fights ago, are both making their Sucker Punch debut with us on this card as well! Again, very cool Donkey, a night of seeing new faces, new blood, and giving those fans new peeps to cheer for!

Killer’s one loss came four fights back when he had a single bout in HFC where he lost to Sailendra Dessai. Since then, he has won three QFC fights in a row and had a single QFC victory prior to HFC. He’s been able to win in standup both boxing and in the clinch, although tonight the clinch will be the one area where he has the advantage. Combined with decent wrestling, I would think that that would be an area of strength for him against Aldo.

For Aldo, he comes in with his morale about half off. That’s not good. This is a tough match for both fighters and you never want to give up an edge like that that’s preventable! Under his current manager, Aldo has used the clinch extensively in both his win two fights ago as well as his loss in his last fight. He is heavy handed, which is a big bonus for him given his tendencies, however, I would think that he may want to come in with a focus on either boxing or potentially, if he has ground and pound, using his blue belt to get down there, wrestle and beat up his opponent. The clinch may be an area to avoid tonight as he may not be the dominant player there.

Donkey, over to you, what do you have…?

Donkey’s Pick: Killer via TKO (Strikes)

You know that I cannot go with the morale being off like that in such a tightly contested fight! I’m thinking that the lack of morale allows Killer to not only get this into the clinch, but for him to control and dictate the pace and aggression there. Heck, if Aldo takes this there himself, he may be setting up the win for Killer.

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight Bout

Callum Neenan (2-1-0) vs. Andre Powell (3-1-0)

Our Co-Main Event and another two new faces to Sucker Punch Donkey! Exciting stuff man!

Powell has a 3-1 record and is currently on a hot streak of three wins straight over in FFS. Now that he’s about aged out of that org, he’s come on over to us and I’m thrilled for the fans! This is a talented fighter who has finished his last two opponents, the last fight ending with him taking KO of the Night! He’s a smart fighter who may be hiding some serious power in those hands because he’s certainly shown it recently. He’ll probably want to stand and bang, although tonight he’ll have the advantage in most of the other areas outside boxing. That doesn’t mean he’ll switch to them though!

Neenan is primarily a boxer and also comes to us from FFS where he went 2-1, with his first and last fights there being wins. He took Fight of the Night over there with his first win and also showed himself to have heavy hands. In his only loss, he was taken down and abused on the ground for a TKO, a path that might be tempting for Powell tonight against Neenan. My guess would be that that won’t happen though, but you never know!

Donkey, you have a call here…?

Donkey’s Pick: Powell via TKO (Strikes)

This should be a great fight and I fully expect these two to stand and bang!!! Both are fully prepared, with full energy and morale, so you have to love that and know that you’re likely to see the very best from these guys tonight. This is a very tough one to call, and I’m going to go with Powell only because his other skills give him a few other options should he choose to use them. If this does stay on the feet though, this is anybody’s fight! Who wants it boys!?!

Main Event

Welterweight Bout

Konrad Wagner (2-0-0) vs. Pietro Marchionni (3-1-0)

Our Main Event will see a young Konrad Wagner go at it with Pietro Marchionni! These two are both talented young fighters who will be putting a lot on the line tonight to see if they are worthy of being considered part of the top tier of fighters in the Welterweight division!

Konrad is currently 2-0 with us and has defeated Igor Nox and Alex Driver, both with his hands. He’s done it once in the clinch and once without ever needing to go that far with a one minute stoppage. He’s primarily a boxer but has competent MT and strong wrestling to supplement. However, he only has a white belt in BJJ…and…

…that’s where Marchionni could become a problem with his superb wrestling and blue belt in Jiu Jitsu! At 3-1, Marchionni has only lost to a fantastically talented Malachi Routerhead via submission. Outside that, he tends to spend his time rolling around dishing out pain and punishment to his poor opponents. The ground and pound is his game, and don’t play it if you can’t defend yourself! If Wagner lets this get to the ground, he could be in trouble unless he can use his wrestling to defend and get back to the feet asap.

Donkey, an intriguing matchup…?

Donkey’s Pick: Marchionni via TKO (Strikes)

It’s absolutely fantastic that I have had so much trouble picking tonight, which tells you that these kids are really in for some close fights and some great matchups. The fans are in for a treat! And these two are fully prepared for this fight also, so yes, you are getting the best of what they can bring to the cage tonight! I’m going with the ground game edge here for Marchionni, but if Konrad tags him he could pull off a quick finish again in this one and walk away the victor instead!

So there we have it Sucker Punch fans!

A bit late coming out with this tonight, but as they say, better late than never? We have a lot of new faces on the card tonight and that should be exciting for every fan watching these fights! Lots of folks to root for, and lots of new faces to give you an opportunity to look at guys brand new and not already have a “favorite” yet! So let’s hope for some great action, and that these guys will go out there and earn your cheers!

Till next time…

Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch Pro Series 355k+ style!

And this is it! Costune won the consolation final against Fuller, and that puts him in the top contender spot against Bass! I've checked to see if he wants the shot, and clearly, he absolutely DOES want the rematch. So tomorrow, I will be sending out papers to both of these warriors...Let's get it on!

I think you mean Costune, not Concrete? Costune lost to Bass last fight, and Concrete loss to Cobain last fight.

Folks, we have our first few sets of rankings up, as the Featherweights now join the Middleweights and Heavyweights as the first divisions to complete their Sorter Series and have rankings completed (by me finally now that I'm home from vacation)!

I fully expect that some folks may disagree and feel this should be different, etc....and you know what, I expect that and would be disappointed if folks don't gripe and stir some shit about it, that's great, I love that fire in the belly! Let's discuss (argue) about it, but know that I'm not against a cockshot if I need to do it to settle your ass down! LOL! Honestly though, I'm not perfect, but know I will always do my very best to treat everybody fairly and be open with any information you need! So...hope you enjoy!

I'm posting them here, but the current rankings for each division as they are established will always be available here: http://www.mmatycoon...=65096&p=910173

Mr. Takahashi: Kaoru Nagashima recently returned yet again from Mount Fujihara after meditating on the further deep meditations of Akirono and instructed me to tell all, the boundless one decrees it is a glorious day and he will show the lessons have no bounds when he rains down upon Andy Veidt like the Octopus god Squishomoru and hammers him to the canvas but he will not murder him as he appreciates Andy Veidt for being the Harbinger to his connection to the outer realms. All this to become the Champion and upon his Golden Throne he will call out the one true deity in all of Sucker Punch, Donkey Dan.

"Niki Geo, should you have the testicular fortitude to accept the fight, Baldomir Barobosa is gonna rip that Gabe Kaplan-wannabe afro off your head on Sept. 2. You have a number next to your name in the welterweight. And we want it." Slick Gunderson

"Niki Geo not only has the balls to accept the fight, he is sure that he is going to smash Barobosa so hard that his scarce pubescent beard is going to get even patchier." V Veidt
