Mentor
I have to say, i was one of his biggest supporters. He is, without a doubt, the biggest box office draw for the UFC. When he was doing well, i always had my doubts about his real ability. He had some impressive wins, most of which were fast KO's, so i never really knew how he would do in a real fight. First of all, i think his decision to fight Diaz was a terrible one. He is not a 170lbs fighter and Diaz was a fighter on a 19-10 record at the time of the fight (ie, not exactly an Elite fighter). He ended up losing in a submission. The second fight was a fluke, Conor won, but it was a controversial decision. So he spent time fighting a fighter, that he should not have, in a division he never planned to participate in. Conor was best at 145.155 was an option, but 170lbs is not his weight class. Besides this, it also put the whole divisions (155 and 145) on hold because he was the title holder at the time these 2 fights were taking place. Think about it, when was the last time a fighter, who held 2 titles, competed in a totally different weight in a random fight against a mid tier fighter? No disrespect to Diaz, but, he did not deserve to be fighting the biggest draw in UFC history. Do not get me wrong, those 2 fights were entertaining, but from the point of view of legacy, they did nothing for Conor. Then came the fight with Mayweather. I for one, hated this idea. It possibly was good for the UFC and for Conor's pocket, but i am a MMA fan. I want to see how far Conor can get. In the end he lost, which was predictable. He never really had a chance against one of the best boxers in history and after that, Conor lost any real interest in MMA. Frankly speaking, i do not blame the guy. The dude grew up poor and here he is, with tens of millions. Following that, he was stripped of his title (which was the only thing to do, he was not defending the titles for months). Then we had the bus incident, court cases, the beat down by Khabib. There were lots of other cases out of the cage, such as him cheating on his wife and more recently him striking an old man in a pub. In my opinion, he never could challenge the legacy of fighters like GSP, Silva, Jones, Fedor, but he could at least be a top 5 level fighter if his head was screwed on right. Now he is 31y old with a respectable 21-4 record. He was on a 21-3 record as a 28y old. Basically the dude pissed away his prime. I still love the dude, just wished he would do more. Obviously, i am sure he does not give a shit what his fans think, he will end up the richest fighter to ever compete in MMA, so i guess, mission accomplished. JohnnYPuff
I agree with you on most of the things, besides him being the best at 145, man he looked so unhealthy after the weight cut. But yea sadly we couldn't see him fight in his prime a lot. I'm just hoping that he will return and make a great comeback and stay active for a couple more years. After his Instagram post it looks like it could be against Nate Diaz again.
kenlow73
145 was never an option. His manager said after he won the title, that he would never fight there again because of the weight cut. Conor said he would never fight there again because he already beat everybody there was to fight. One of the out of the cage incidents was the South Florida incident where somebody on the street at 5am tried to take a pic of him and Conor broke his phone, which ESPN said the other night the charges were dropped. I don't know if that means he settled out of court, the guy just dropped them or somebody influenced his decision to drop them

The1rstSaint
Old geezer ate that punch like it was french fries. Didnt even flinch. I thought it was funny hearing someone say, he punched the old guy into a new Conversation with the fellow sitting to his right. I too was on the wagon right after his Marcus Brimmage fight but then came Mayweather and all the Money. Which he was already starting to loose his shit, that Money fight though clicked a switch in his brain. His Personality should have been a sign that he wouldn't handle the fame well, man was it ever so true. Then again who is to say even without fame he still might be making these dumb ass decisions. I think it was more the money got to him, he was crazy famous before the Mayweather fight anyway. I think there is a pretty good 50/50% chance (if he continues on this path) that in 12-15 years from now he will need to get out of retirement to fight someone because he is "bankrupted" and needs the money. He wont be the first fighter to piss away 10s of millions in prize money.
popart
Man, the star power of Mcgregor is what brought me into the sport of MMA. It's a shame to see him go down this path, but this "nothing can stop me" attitude is what got him here in the first place. 1
stpierrecanada
+1 everything you said is on point. I way always his biggest fan, from before he was in the UFC I knew he was amazing. I supported him through everything except until the bus incident, that was unacceptable and all his behaviour from this point on has made me start to hate him. I will say, I am very happy he came out and took responsibility and is trying to get back into fighting and forget the other bullshit. Hopefully he can do better then Jon Jones did. I forgave Jones when he did the same thing before the second Cormier fight, but We know what happens to him since. I hope Conor can bounce back, is all I can say.. I want to be a fan again. barney
I think Khabib death rolling McGregor *AND* his crew was the only thing as satisfying as Dan Henderson burning half of Bisping brain cells with that droping bomb
Mentor
After the old man incident, he came out saying he wants a fight as early as possible and he is basically calling out various fighters, not just Khabib, it seems he wants to be more active in fighting again. Let's hope he gets his head back into fighting because his life seems to be taking a really bad turn at the moment.

barney
Floyd Mayweather dad: "I would fuck McGregor up" Seeing how that old fuck ate that punch at the bar, I think this is quite true lol. Anyway, another fight I have 0 interest. Hope he doesnt give in because of da $$$$$. Rather watch McGregor vs Masvidal/Lawler/Ponzinibbio or Iaquinta/Gaethje/Cerrone/Ferguson. Even a Diaz fight makes more sense, even tho I admit I would not pay for that too.
Ramirez
I'd really like to see Ferguson vs. McGregor that's a dream matchup he is never fighting Ferguson bro. i've been saying that for years now. he doesn't want any of that Cucuy shit. he didn't fight him when Tony was interim and he was champ and that speaks louder than any words he uses to the contrary... i think he fights someone like Frankie (5 years too late) or Gaethje (perfect match up for Conor) next. unless that Diaz trilogy happens or the ufc goes for the money fight vs Khabib... i would love to see him fight Tony but it's never been or ever will be on the menu unfortunately....
popart
I'd still like to see conor versus cowoy cerrone. I think that might be the most competitive and most ppv selling fight.
Gator001
Even the Aldo KO didnt convince me as it was a flash ko, although a great win, but the Alvarez KO and the adjustments he made in the second diaz fight impressed me and made me realize he was a very good fighter. before that I saw him as a decent fighter with a huge left hand who was very, very well managed. Always thought he was very witty but a prick and lacking any class at all, but I came to accept that he was a very good fighter However, the guy is a piece of shit as a person of that there is no doubt, just like there is no doubt he is the biggest draw in the game SOme of the stuff he has done is putrid and while nothing official from the authorities has come out, when the NYT and WSJ are reporting that he was accused of rape, there is definitely more than smoke there I am not a fan boy follower of any MMA fighter, i am a lover of MMA and so I dont get into the blind love or hate of any fighter although, there are some I dont like their personality and some i do like their personality (i.e. cowboy after he taught hernandez about respect), at the end of the day I am just interested in the fights and the skills not reality TV crap i agree with Aylib 100% on Conor though

If Conor gets Khabib over Tony, i think the UFC should just call themselves the WWE of MMA. I think the best options for Conor is the winner of Gathje vs Cerrone or a rematch with Poirier. If he wins that, then a rematch against Holloway at 145lbs would be great (assuming Conor is willing to move down to 145lbs again, i heard he did not want to cut weight again). But i personally would prefer the winner of the Cerrone fight next, should be fun to watch.
barney
IMO Iaquinta or Masvidal next match winner should be a good call, since Gregor was "retired" Back of the line for you, mate If Conor gets Khabib over Tony, i think the UFC should just call themselves the WWE of MMA. Lets hope it happens at least. This is the only real fight either of them have, that makes any sense, other than maybe GSP coming out of retirement or them moving up or down the weight classes.
