A proposed bantamweight clash between Norifumi Yamamoto and Matt Hobar has been removed from the UFC Fight Night "Barnett vs. Nelson" lineup after both fighters suffered injuries in training.

Promotion officials announced the cancellation on Tuesday evening. As a result, the UFC Fight Night event will go forward with 10 bouts. The card takes place at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Saturday night and is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Josh Barnett and Roy Nelson.

Yamamoto hasn’t tasted victory since May 2010, when he knocked out Federico Lopez at Dream 14. He made his promotional debut in 2011 and dropped his first three fights, falling to Demetrious Johnson, Darren Uyenoyama and Vaughan Lee in succession. Most recently, “Kid’s” UFC 184 bout vs. Roman Salazar was ruled a no contest due to a pair of accidental eye pokes from the Japanese fighter.

Hobar, meanwhile is 1-2 in the Octagon, including a unanimous decision loss to Sergio Pettis his his last appearance at UFC 181 on Dec. 6. The Legacy FC veteran is 9-3 over the course of his professional tenure.
