Revolution XC 911 Preview

Hello people of Los Angeles! Greetings to every proud citizen of USA who came to Venice Beach Arena on one of the saddest dates of American history! To honor the memory of our brave fellow-countrymen, who tragically lost their lives fifteen years ago, Revolution XC has decided to organize a memorial event with 3 title fights and 7 other exceptional fights! This event has been brought to you courtesy of Unity Clothing Las Vegas! Now please everyone stand up for a minute of silence, followed by the National Anthem of the United States of America!

Papa Shango vs Kaleva Vettenranta 265 lbs. title

Here we are, seconds away from the main event, isn't that exciting! There it is, as you have anticipated it, five rounds, five minutes each, the heavyweight category title! First, let me introduce you the contender! He is 27 year old, from Finland, with a record of 14-4 and 210 lbs heavy - Kaleva Vettenranta! He is hot on a winning streak - scoring three first-round wins by submissions since he put pen to paper with Revolution XC. And now hold your breath for a moment and prepare your hands to clap excitedly, because the champ is here! Do I need to introduce him, you know him pretty well, but it would be a pleasure for me to present you the 27 year old knockout machine, the one who uses his bare fists when he needs to hammer a nail at home, coming off an amazing 13-4 record, standing strong at 280 lbs, the one they call Madagascar's pride, Papa Shango! This amazing clash of titans is going to offer you a fight between an exceptional boxer, which Papa Shango really is, and a ground specialist in the face of Kaleva Vettenranta. Shango feels comfortable both when striking from distance and playing it dirty in the clinch. His opponent is a very good wrestler, who prefers taking the fights to the ground as early as possible and utilizing his powerful ground and pound and skillful submissions. Shango's last appearance at Revolution XC saw him trying his luck at the super heavyweight category and losing badly to Afonso Cabral, thus ending his winning streak. Most important thing for our champion is to keep himself away from the ground in order to keep his title after the fight. But is he skillful enough in wrestling to match Vettenranta's takedown ability? I am very curious to see if Shango's 70 lbs advantage would help him stay at stand-up position but I have a feeling that we won't be hearing the Shango Tango after the final ding.

Rocco Antonio "Italian Stallion" Siffredi vs Andy Fitzgerald 185 lbs. title

The co-main event of the night isn't less exciting than the main one! Rules are the same - 5 rounds, 5 minutes each and the stake is as big as it could be. Ladies and gentlemen, you will be watching a bloody battle for the Revolution XC's middleweight category title! As the tradition says, we should start with the contender! He is 27 year old, coming from St. Lucia, with an impressive record of 12-3, all 12 wins coming from knockouts, Andy Fitzgerald! And now it's time for our champion! At the age of 27, red hot on 12 straight wins streak, The Island Season 5 champion, the "Italian Stallion", Rocco Antonio Siffredi! And I am sure you know him perfectly well, not only from his impressive MMA achievements but also from his movie career, if you know what I mean! We should be proud of our champion who has lost only his professional MMA debut and then scored 12 wins! He is a very strong boxer, smashing enemy faces from distance and also feeling good in the clinch! His opponent , Andy Fitzgerald, is also an amazing boxer but seems his style is more clinch-oriented. Both fighters know their opponent extremely well because this will be their third battle for the last 2 months. Siffredi won both of their previous meetings - first eliminating Fitzgerald from The Island's Final Tournament and second time by knocking him out at Revolution XC's grand opening since moving to Los Angeles and claiming the title! I am expecting to see an exciting stand-up rough-and-tumble, with the "Italian Stallion" scoring a hat trick over Andy Fitzgerald and keeping the title for himself!

Don Julio Cesar Chavez vs Fernando Luiz 170 lbs. title

Third fight on the way and third title on the table! This is when you understand that things are serious around Revolution XC! Fighting for the welterweight category title, we will be watching a clash between two 27 year old combatants! The contender, coming all the way from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on a 8-2 professional MMA record, the one who delivered 8 KOs in his 8 victories, the spinning backfist master, Fernando Luiz! And now I wanna hear you roar for our champion, The Island Season 5 Tournament Runner-up, with a personal record of 13-4, coming from Las Cruces, USA, Don Julio Cesar Chavez! Chavez lost his final at The Island against Rick James, but came stronger and defeated him after a month thus claiming Revolution XC's welterweight title! He is very good at boxing but also likes bringing it to the ground and collecting his opponents' limbs, causing them to tap-out! Luiz's best discipline is also boxing but he feels comfortable when squeezing his enemies in the death catch of his exceptional clinchwork! We should be expecting a classic boxing fight, with both fighters looking to surprise one-another whether in the clinch or on the ground! My prediction is Chavez coming out of the cage victorious.

Royal Pain "In the Ass" vs Royce "Disgrace" Disgracie 155 lbs.

Next fight on our schedule presents you an interesting clash between The Island Combat 155 lbs. champion, Royal Pain, and Revolution XC's 135 lbs. champion, Royce Disgracie, who decided to try his abilities in a heavier category! As we said, Mr. Pain became very famous for his performances at The Island. He is a 20 year old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, scoring the impressive 11 submission wins so far. Against him we have the 27 year old "Disgrace" who is a very good boxer but a bit susceptible to submission losses, having received three on row in his last three fights. Both fighters would have something to prove in this battle - Disgracie will try to end his losing streak while Royal Pain needs to show that he is still capable after losing two title fights against Nate Gonzalez. We should also take into account Royal Pain's much bigger body - he is 18cm taller and 31 lbs heavier! Very interesting battle, with my prediction going for Mr. Pain playing his AC/DC song in the end!

"Rock Em Sock Em" Rockford Knight vs "El Desperado" Escobar De Vega 265+ lbs.

Coming next is an exciting fight between two heavy MMA veterans with a total of 78 professional fights! First let me introduce you the 39 year old millionaire from Portland, Rockford Knight! Against him, at the age of 36, coming from the far and beautiful Las Palmas, the one they call "El Desperado", Escobar De Vega! Both fighters are new additions to Revolution XC's roster and they are extremely hungry to provide and prove themselves in front of the demanding spectators! "Rock Em Sock Em" is an exceptional stand-up fighter, combining his strong punches with flashy leg kicks for achieving 28 KOs so far! Same could be said for De Vega, but his ground game deserves many superlatives too and maybe there hides his chance for winning this! Another anticipated battle, brought to you by Revolution XC, where I am expecting Rockford Knight to showcase his experience and abilities by scoring a victory.

Kyle Long vs Dmitri "One Shot" Zaitsev 265 lbs.

In an exciting heavyweight clash, The Island veteran Kyle Long goes against the 21 year old Russian prodigy, Dmitri "One Shot" Zaitsev! Long, 27 year old from the US, is a dirty and very good clincher. He has a 13-7 record, winning everything by a KO! For him should be said that he did impressive in Island Combat org. but then failed to provide in the final Island tournament. Against him, we have an exceptional youngster who is making his first steps in the professional MMA. Those steps may be slow, but they look very sure - an early punch KO victory in his only pro fight. "One Shot" has very impressive body build, and has spent a lot of time training and preparing for his moment to come. Another proficient clinch specialist, Zaitsev would probably be too prepared for Kyle Long and win his Revolution XC debut!

Gleb Zheglov vs John "Nobody" Doe 205 lbs.

Next fight in the schedule is a classic, a fairytale "David vs. Goliath" fight! The small guy in it will be the 27 year old and 183 cm tall Gleb Zheglov, coming from the cold Moscow, Russia. The giant against him, standing enormous at 225 cm tall, at the age of 26 will be John "Nobody" Doe from Craplanta, USA. Both fighters will be looking for their first win at Revolution XC, while Mr. "Nobody" will be on his debut fight for the org. Zheglov comes into the fight as a very good boxer, achieving 12 KOs in his 12 pro wins, and is a fighter who prefers striking from distance. His towering opponent is still undefeated in his pro career. John Doe is someone who feels comfortable fighting on the ground, which should be easy for him in the fight, taking his enormous size advantage into consideration. A fight with a very unpredictable outcome, but I think that Zheglov's experience would help him to win.

Nate "Ninja" Diaz vs Alastair Dunn 170 lbs.

The next fight presents us two Revolution XC debutants. The 25 year old Nate Diaz, who has 3 QFC wins prior to this fight, stands undefeated in his pro MMA career. Against him, we will be seeing a very impressive 20 year old youngster - Alastair Dunn from Canada. Dunn has already won some popularity, having a 4-2 pro record and achieving 4 wins by KOs. He is an exceptional wrestler and ground fighter, who excels in the ground'n'pound game. Diaz is a ground fighter too, but he seems to focus more on submission attempts. My prediction is that Dunn's wrestling ability will be too much for a newcomer like the "Ninja".

D'Wayne "Crips" Williams vs David "Kiss Ya Mamma" Shanna 155 lbs.

Oh boy, how excited am I to see two youngsters clashing and looking to pave their way to the big fame, glory and the big money! 20 year old D'Wayne Williams go against 18 year old RXC debutant David Shanna. "Crips" has proved himself as an exceptional talent, who uses his punching abilities very efficiently. "Kiss Ya Mamma" is more of an all-rounder, who likes both striking from distance and going to the ground. I think that Williams' potential and ability will see him through this fight.

Jordan Kandle vs Jerry Smith 185 lbs.

The opening fight of the evening will show us two fighters who will be battling to achieve their first RXC victory! The 21 year old Jordan Kandle is a debutant at the org. who likes to lead the fights at the mat, using mostly ground strikes. Against him, the 25 year old Jerry Smith, who already lost his RXC debut against Kaedo Neal, Smith is a mixture between a decent boxer and BJJ specialist. Hard to predict the result of this fight but I have a feeling that Smith is the more skilled fighter.

Welcome back to Revolution XC- ICON! We have another stacked card for you featuring 3 Championship fights. The Heavyweight, Middleweight, and the Welterweight Championships will all be on line on September 11th, 2016! The event will take place at the Venice Beach Arena in Los Angeles. Revolution XC 911 will be sponsored by Unity Clothing! Go and check them out as well they are an awesome company.

:excl: In the Main Event the Heavyweight Championship will be on the line in this amazing Superfight as the Light Heavyweight Champion Kaleva Vettenranta (14-4) will be looking to become a 2 weight world Champion as he takes on Papa Shango (13-4) Now this fight has been rumored for awhile now as all the trash talk started months ago. It has been one of the most anticipated match ups we have ever seen in this company and I am more than excited for this fight. Both of these men are so well rounded but this is your classic striker vs submission artist. As always Shango will be looking to make quick work out of his opponent using his brutal punching power to shut the lights off, where Kaleva will be looking to take this fight to the ground and get the submission as he has done in 9 of his victories.

My Prediction: I think Kaleva will actually pull of the upset and bring home the gold and become a 2 weight world champion. I am a huge fan of Papa Shango and I will not be shocked if he connects with a punch to end this fight quickly but as of right now Kaleva seems to want it more and I think he will get the job done come fight night.

:excl: The Co Main event will feature the Middleweight Championship as Rocco Antonio Siffredi (12-1) will be defending his title against a familiar opponent Andy Fitzgerald (12-3) This will be Andy's third attempt at Rocco and his second chance at the title. Andy has in recent interviews that the third time is a charm and he will be looking to get the job done and bring home the gold. I think he has a pretty good chance as all he has to do is connect a few times and shut him down. All 12 of his victories have come by KO/TKO. The champion will also be looking to shut his opponents lights off on fight night and man let me tell you, this man is pissed. He has no idea why he has to face this man for a third time when he dominated both times and he will be looking to do it again.

My Prediction: As much as I would like to see Andy get the W on fight night I just don't see it happening the last time these men fought was pretty cut and dry and I just don't know if he has made the right changes to actually win. I see Rocco getting a third round KO.

:excl: Up next what should be considered another Main Event the Welterweight Championship will be on the line in what could be the fight of the night! The Champion Don Julio Cesar Chavez (13-4) will be taking on Fernando Luiz (8-2) I am calling it right now, this fight has the absolute best potential to earn some post fight bonuses. Both of these men put on the best fights I have seen within this company. The Champion Chavez is one of the best all around fighters in the game today, as no matter where the fight goes he can adapt, submission, knockouts, distance, it doesn't matter he can get it done. Where the challenger Luiz will be looking for one thing and one thing only and that is another knockout and boy do I love knockouts especially when they come from the hands of this man. He has one of the prettiest Spinning backfist I have ever seen and I just cannot wait for this fight.

My Prediction: I don't know how to call this one, it could literally go either way. But! if I had to put money down on just one of these men, it would have to go to the champion Don Julio. I just think he is to skilled all the way round.

Moving on down the card we have a Lightweight match up for you as Royal Pain (11-4) will be taking on Bantamweight Champion Royce Disgracie (10-4) once again. As the last time these two men fought Royal Pain defended his lightweight title against Royce who was looking to become a 2 weight world champion. After he lost he vowed to add on the weight again and run the whole thing back. After Royal lost his title this fight made all the sense in the world. Who do you think will come out with the W on fight night?

My Prediction: I think Royal will once again get the job done. I just think Royce should stay in his own weight class instead of trying to jump up 2. But if he feels like he can get the job done, then by all means have at it. I can't wait.

On to a Super Heavyweight Fight, Rockford Knight (36-13) will be facing Escobar De Vega (20-8-1) These big men will be putting on a show the fans will not want to miss, I feel like every person inside that arena will be on their feet when these men step into the cage. Both of these men throw bombs when they're in there! Just brutal shot after shot. It's crazy to see the cardio these big men have and how long they can go. I don't see this one going the distance though, no way. I guarantee you there will be a knockout with this fight.

My Prediction: I see Rockford getting the knockout on fight night. 28 out of all 36 of his wins have come by KO. That's basically all of his opponents fights combined. That is outstanding and I just don't see Vega getting past the experience.

Heavyweights Kyle Long (13-7) and Dmitri Zaitsev (1-0) will be looking to put one on for the fans. Now it may look like Dmitri is an inexperienced mixed martial artist by the looks of his small record, but don't let that fool you, this big man has been training since he was a little kid, and his last fight he shut his opponent down in the round by KO. He has a brutal punch that flat lines anyone that is hit by it. Kyle said he is not worried at all about his opponent and on fight night his will embarrass this kid and make him go back into hibernation.

My Prediction: I think Dmitri gets the upset, Kyle just seems to be sleeping on him on and I truly think he will regret it. Once Dmitri connects a few times and shows him his true strength I think Kyle will slowly break down and Dmitri will secure a second round KO.

The Spotlight will also be on the Light Heavyweight division as Gleb Zheglov (12-4) will be fighting John Doe (4-0) John is looking to make a name for himself in the mma community as he will be looking to continue his undefeated streak against his opponent, he said he gets so frustrated when he doesn't get the finish as he has only found himself stopping his opponent one time by KO. He says he knows he can get it down the opportunity just never comes for him at the right time but that will be different on fight night he says. Gleb is coming off a recent loss and the title was on the line he is hungrier than ever he says and he will be looking to get back on track for the title as he looks to steamroll his not so experienced opponent.

My Prediction: I think Gleb gets it done by KO once again. He his on a losing streak and another loss would be devastating for him and he just needs this win I don't think he will let the win slip past him on.

Undefeated Welterweight fighter Nate Diaz (3-0) will be fighting Alastair Dunn (4-2) as always, we know Diaz is going to be looking to come in and secure the takedown and grab hold of a limb or the neck and make his opponent tap out. Nate is on a roll right now and another win will skyrocket his rank up the ladder. Dunn is no stepping stone though, he has amazing hand speed and the power to put people to sleep. One wrong move and this fight could go really bad for Nate. This is one I really look forward to.

My Prediction: I think if Diaz can use his head movement to get inside Dunn's range and can either get the clinch or secure the takedown, I don't think he will have a problem getting the submission victory.

Going back to the Lightweight Division undefeated fighter D'Wayne Williams (2-0) will also be looking to continue his streak as he takes on David Shanna (1-0) both of these men have been going back an forth on social media talking a lot of smack. Both of these men have a really new to the fight game and there is already a lot of attention of the both of them. The winner of this fight will certainly be talked about for many months to come. Both of these men are not afraid to throw the hands. They actually prefer to just stand in the middle of the octagon and throw until one of them falls down and those are the fights I love.

My Prediction: I think Williams will get the win on fight night. I think his speed is on another level compared to David and I see him easily getting a knockout.

Kicking off this card and getting the fans of their seats will be a Middleweight fight, Jordan Kandle (1-2) will be fighting Jerry Smith (1-1) both of these men could really use a win but another loss could be crucial, this fight is make it or break it. They are legit fighting to stay in this company. How is that not exciting? Who do you think will be looking to come out on top on fight night?

My Prediction: I think Jerry will use his boxing skills to keep his opponent at bay and and avoid the shots while giving them securing himself a decision win.

You can not miss this card ladies and gentleman. You can not beat the price! You are going to witness 3 title fights and a Superfight! All this goes down on Revolution XC 911 on September 11th, 2016 at the Venice Beach Arena in Beautiful Los Angeles. Once again, all the fight gear and merchandise will be provided by Unity Clothing. Come out and witness greatness.

ICON Fight Night 2 - Event Preview

http://i.imgur.com/mq1WRMM.png

Good afternoon Los Angelinos, it's a sunny day in Southern California as usual, but that doesn't matter because it's time to stay inside on your couch and watch the preview show for ICON Fight Night 2, presented by Revolution XC. Fight fans in Venice Beach will be treated to a nine-fight night of cage fighting violence this Friday, headlined by a lightweight title bout between two familiar foes in the form of the popular "Elvis the Fighter" Hop Sing Jung and accomplished Dutchman Alexander Vermeer.

265+ lbs - "Soul Absorber" Kenshiro Kakashi (debut) vs. Marko "Project" Oconner (debut)

The first bout on the card features the promotion's new superheavyweight division in a classic striker vs. grappler matchup. Both fighters are making their pro debuts, but the American O'Connor was a Golden Gloves champion in his native Wisconsin as well as a high school wrestler while the Japanese Kakashi is a traditional jiu-jitsu practitioner believed to possess a high-level submission grappling game. This will all come down to distance, as Oconner has to keep his smaller opponent from clinching and taking the fight to the ground or he's likely to be tapped out in short order. At this weight class though, he won't have to do it for long.

Prediction: Marko Oconner by 1st round KO

145 lbs - Derrick "Pretty Boy" King (4-2-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Alberto "Roca Roca" Silva (2-2-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC)

Two competitors relatively young in this sport face off in their first matches under the Revolution XC banner. It's been a roller coaster ride for "Pretty Boy" King so far as the American has tasted victory four times at the regional level but been savagely knocked out in a pair of bouts against the older Santana Blaze in his forays up the competitive ladder. His opponent, Alberto Silva, is a skilled jiu-jitsu competitor from Brazil who has seen all his fights finish in the first round, whether victory or defeat. King isn't a finisher and has reportedly been dumped by his management team in the leadup to the fight, which has to be demoralizing, so I expect "Roca Roca" will find a way to break him before the final bell.

Prediction: Alberto Silva by 2nd round submission

205 lbs - Arturo "Bad Boy" Vidal (5-0-0 MMA, 1-0-0 RXC) vs. Saif "Fatty" Swaleh (0-1-0 MMA, 0-0-1 RXC)

A somewhat curious rematch, the Chilean Muay Thai specialist Vidal used his predictable-but-effective gameplan to deliver a steady diet of clinch elbows en route to a clear unanimous decision over the Bahranian Swaleh the last time out. That's not to say the bout is entirely a mismatch as the Arab boxer certainly has the striking chops to knock out his younger opponent if he can keep the fight at a distance. That said, smart money is on a repeat of their first encounter.

Prediction: Arturo Vidal by unanimous decision

135 lbs - Antonio Diaz (2-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Dan "Diesel" Sergeant (1-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC)

Two young men who have never tasted defeat in their careers will make their RXC debuts in the next bout here in the bantamweight division. Stockton native Tony Diaz has decisioned both his professional opponents with a varied striking attack, choosing volume and precision over knockout power but making victory look easy nevertheless. His opponent in this bout has some skills on the feet himself but is unlikely to have any avenue to victory through striking, instead he'll try to use his superior wrestling to bring the fight to the ground where he's a stifling, if not especially ferocious, presence.

Prediction: Antonio Diaz by split decision

135 lbs - Lamb "of" God (debut) vs. Carlito Brigante (2-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC)

Keeping it in the lower weight classes, this match will also feature two fighters new to the RXC cage and one new to professional MMA entirely. The debutante goes by the moniker "Lamb of God" and appears to have a strong wrestling base, although whether he's more of a ground-and-pounder or dirty boxer remains to be seen. His opponent is fellow American Carlito "Malo" Brigante, a well-rounded kicking specialist signed off the strength of two straight victories including a highlight reel head kick KO. Brigante has some skill, but his tendency to lead with his chin might be his downfall here.

Prediction: Lamb of God by 1st round KO

185 lbs - Leonardo Leite (5-3-0 MMA, 1-0-0 RXC) vs. Adam Grigorian (6-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC)

The main card leads off with the much anticipated RXC debut of undefeated Armenian prospect Adam Grigorian, an 18-year-old phenom who has already proven his mettle against high-level competition in New York and has become familiar to RXC fans without even stepping into the cage thanks to his online war of words with fan favorite Nick Gonzalez. The Revolution matchmakers have no intentional of babying their new acquisition however as Brazil native Leonardo Leite is a high-level BJJ competitor who has ended all five of his MMA victories by making his opponent quit. Four of those submissions have come in the first round, including forcing a painful-looking verbal submission from Justin Sane in his RXC debut last month. Grigorian has faced skilled grapplers before, but none with wrestling as good as Leite, and that might make for a rude awakening here.

Prediction: Leonardo Leite by 2nd round submission

145 lbs - Michael "The Hurricane" Carter (6-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Walton Kunz (9-7-0 MMA, 0-2-0 RXC)

Another hot young prospect competing for the first time with Revolution XC, Michael Carter fell short in his bid to unseat the undefeated lightweight champion Alexander Koreshkov in the Russian DFC promotion last July, being smothered by the superior grappler and in the process tasting defeat for the first time himself. The well-rounded Toronto-born wrestler remains a tantalizing talent however and may soon be back to headlining cards, particularly now that he's competing at 145 pounds to maximize his size and strength advantage. That should serve him well tonight against the much smaller German submission specialist Walton Kunz, a mercurial talent who remains winless under the RXC banner thus far. Kunz is a good boxer and would likely have the advantage on the feet but he has nowhere near the wrestling ability to keep the bout there and has shown little inclination to strike in his career, particularly after being knocked out in his last two bouts.

Prediction: Michael Carter by 2nd round TKO

155 lbs - Takumi "Sunrise" Takeshi (8-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Nik "Lake Effect" Snow (2-0-0 MMA, 1-0-0 RXC)

Another lauded prospect debuting for RXC, the 20-year-old sushi chef-turned fighter Takeshi features a rounded skillset that has allowed him to finish all eight of his victories, five by knockout and three by submission with his only defeat coming several years ago in his debut as an untrained teenager. He was most recently the Professional League MMA lightweight champion but he faces his toughest opponent yet tonight in the granite-chinned Snow, a freak athlete with an advanced game for his age and likely the advantage in most areas of the fight. If Snow has a weakness, it's in experience as has competed only twice despite having been training for some time, and if Takeshi can exploit his edge there or perhaps in the wrestling department he might be able to eke out a victory.

Prediction: Nik Snow by split decision

155 lbs - © Hop Sing "Hyun Ae" Jung (19-7-0 MMA, 3-2-0 RXC) vs. Alexander Vermeer (16-4-1 MMA, 2-1-0, RXC)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/17/17b9.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20160705063333Untitled-1.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/27/27w25.jpg

And finally, the main event of the card will feature the diminutive Korean champion Hop Sing Jung against the fantastic Dutch boxer Alexander Vermeer. Both men laid claim to #1 P4P at different times on The Island as Vermeer racked up an impressive highlight reel of striking finishes - including two savage first round knockouts of Jung under the Island FC banner - and finished as the season runner-up at the 145 pound division. The suave submission wizard Jung meanwhile began his Island career with eight consecutive victories - including a first-round rear naked choke over Vermeer. Jung is no stranger to bad blood having just spent fifty minutes in the ring with the notorious Nate Gonzalez, and he's surely eager to draw the career ledger even against his old opponent here. Jung excels at bringing the fight to the mat with his judo base, but his reliance on bullying his way into close quarters without offering his opponent any real danger on the feet has left him vulnerable to counter-punchers, as Vermeer could attest two out of three times. For the Dutch striker who has beaten his opponent senseless in 14 out of 16 victories, the road to victory is clear - use his vastly superior reach to maintain distance and wait for the chance to tag Jung's jaw. The math might favor Vermeer, but "Elvis" is at the top of his game right now and looks great at 155 pounds, so I have a feeling he may pull off the upset.

Prediction: Hop Sing Jung by 1st round submission

Michael "The Hurricane" Carter (6-1)

"Itchin' to get in there and get back to work. I've had a little break to refocus, but I really think I'm going to shine here in LA. This is my spot, I can feel it.

Good luck to Walton tomorrow, I hope he brings me a good fight."

Revolution XC 6

Here we go again. Now, I realize that it’s been a long time since you guys have seen either a preview or a review of an event. I apologise for that, and I hope this makes up for it. We’ve had a big show on tonight as Revolution XC 6 was headlined by two former Lightweight Champions out for blood as Hop Sing Jung took on Royal Pain. The co-main featured former Welterweight champion Rick James return for a fight with Exceptional Brazilian striker Fernando Luiz. Also on the card was two of Finland's favorite fighters as Ukko Metso and Pyry Kontio looked to get back on track after devastating losses. And it would be a crime if I forgot to mention that We also had a Featherweight Championship fight featuring Issumater Tariaksuq defending his precious belt against rising star Michael Carter. Without further ado let’s get to the High Flying, Bone Breaking, Light’s out action that only Revolution XC can provide!

Blue Kandle vs Igz Kincaid

Welterweight MMA Action

You want to know how to win my heart, throw a flying knee. That’s all. I love that technique so much, and I would scream it out as I watched MMA fights. Igz won my heart today by landing a perfect flying knee against Kandle and then proceeded to extinguish his flames with a Kimura in the last 5 seconds of round 1, moving up to 4-2 in the process. Pretty impressive considering he got KTFO’d not too long ago. Kandle is now 5-3, but there’s no shame in losing to the beauty of the flying knee (or a kimura, but flying knees are cool.)

Carlito “Malo” Brigante vs Joao Moutiniho

Bantamweight MMA Action

The most impressive thing about this fight was the fact that Joao arguably won the first round, impressive for a first fight. Other than that, there wasn’t much to write home about. After round 1, Carlito would constantly takedown Joao and do $#%@ all. I don’t hate fighters who use more conservative strategies to win fights, but I won’t say that I enjoy them. I’m sure Carlito enjoys his new 4-1 record.

John Lennon vs Walton Kunz

Featherweight MMA Action

Despite only being 27, Kunz feels like an old man. He’s lost 6 fights in a row and 4 of those were TKOs. Yeah one was due to cuts, but He’s still getting crushed in these fights. Lennon looked like a future star tonight. These two threw bombs, but Kunz couldn’t land any of his 6 punches thrown. Lennon landed big strikes until he hit a big right hand that sent Walton to the ground where he finished with more strikes. Kunz’s record is at .500, 9-9, and Lennon has won 4 of his first 5 fights. Sadly this will probably be Kunz’s last fight here for a while, but one win on the QFC circuit could net him a return to Revolution XC.

Ryan Anderson vs Bill “Blood” Brown

Light-Heavyweight MMA Action

Anyone remember ICON Fight NIGHT 1, where Bill Brown got his ass served to him on a silver platter until he got a Hail Mary takedown and spammed submissions until he got the victory. Here Brown showed a new form. He immediately got a takedown and dominated Anderson, eventually slapping on an Arm-Triangle and forcing a tap out before the halfway point of the first round. With this victory, Brown (who is now 5-1) has gone from a lucky Bastard to a legitimate contender. Anderson is now 1-1.

Lamar “Baller” Allen vs Eddie Malingo

Featherweight MMA Action

Despite fighting an opponent with twice the amount of fights, Allen kept his cool and cruised to a unanimous decision victory over his Australian opponent. It wasn’t an amazing fight, but It is cool to see the next generation of Mixed Martial Artists take the stage, and I’d bet that Allen might just win a championship sooner rather than later. Eddie still has potential to be a damn good fighter, but tonight wasn’t his night, as he got his first loss and is now 6-1. Lamar Allen will be partying with his new 4-0 record for days on end.

Pyry Kontio vs Andrew Miller

Featherweight MMA Action

I don’t know what it is, but there’s something very special about Kontio for me. Maybe it’s the fact that He was the first fighter who I gave an unofficial nickname to. I don’t know, but Finland’s Favorite Featherweight (It’s sticking) got an expected victory via submission before the first round ended. Pyry got taken down but quickly reversed position and eventually worked until he scored a sick armbar. Now 3-2, there’s no shame on Andrew here, as he lasted longer than most probably expected. Now 14-6, Pyry Kontio may very well have something to look forward to, and I’ll get to that soon…

“Arctic Frost” Issumater Tariaksuq vs Michael “The Hurricane” Carter

Featherweight MMA Championship Fight

This was an interesting championship encounter between two natives of Canada. The consensus coming into this fight was that Issumater would score points on the feet while Carter would be looking to take him down. The consensus was half right. Carter scored 6 out of 11 takedowns and beat the champ with ground and pound, quite expected. It was on the feet that Issumater was shocked, as Carter outstriked him and avoided a lot of his kicking technique. “Arctic Frost” didn't win a single round in five, and “The Hurricane” has won his first championship at the tender age of 21. He hasn’t even gotten to 10 fights yet, sitting at 8-1. The dethroned Champion now sits at 13-5.

Ukko Metso vs Jose “Junior” Aldo

Middleweight MMA Action

I’ll give Aldo credit, he landed 3 punches and blocked Metso’s first three takedowns. Takedown four spelled D-O-O-M. Metso then proceeded to give Aldo a good old fashioned whipping leading to a TKO at 2:34 of round 1. This wasn’t too much of a surprise, as the now 5-1 Aldo still has plenty of room to grow in this sport. Metso is now 15-4, and He could get another shot at the Andy Fitzgerald if the Champ can defend his Championship and sign his contract.

Rick James vs Fernando Luiz

Welterweight MMA Action

Rick James came back seemingly stronger than ever. He has new management and seemed to focus on different strategy for this fight. He used the clinch more frequently and busted Luiz’s face with elbow. This would lead to second round doctor stoppage due to cuts. Luiz, now 8-4, will probably get an easier fight for his next encounter as he’s gotten two killers in James and the champion Don Julio Cesar Chavez in his last couple contests. James, now 20-6, hit an interesting milestone. All 20 of his fights were ended via TKO. That’s impressive, especially in a division as competitive as the Welterweight division.

Hop Sing “Hyun Ae” Jung vs Royal Pain “In the Ass”

Lightweight MMA Action

It took me a while to realize this but Jung is almost 5 feet tall. Holy $hit he’s a bloody miricle. No wonder he’s a star in Korea because, besides being handsome as %$, he’s like the David of the MMA world, challenging fighters much bigger than himself and somehow almost getting twenty wins and winning Championships in two different divisions. Why am I talking about this? Because the fight itself wasn’t too memorable. Pain lived up to his nickname by out striking him and preventing “Elvis The Fighter” from using his suffocating clinch game to win on 2 of the 3 rounds of the fight. This victory will likely net the now 13-4 Pain a championship encounter in the future. Jung, now 19-9, will go down to Featherweight for his next encounter, as he remains a very important part of Revolution XC’s roster.

Post Fight Bonuses

Fight and KO of the Night-John Lennon vs Walton Kunz

Yes this fight was a mere 105 seconds, but this was a hell of a fight. Lennon looked like a million bucks by causing Kunz to flip in order to regain balanced after getting knocked down the first time. A second knockdown signaled the end.

Submission of the Night-Bill Brown

Yeah this wasn’t Kincaid throwing a flying knee, but I liked this Submission because it represented a change. After his last fight, Brown seemed like a goof who got lucky. Here, he looked like a champ. Yeah Ryan Anderson wasn’t a major threat, but Brown could have very well won himself a title fight in the near future.

Conclusion

a lot happened tonight, from big upsets to a flying knee to a Championship victory for a young prospect on his way to stardom. There was also two major reasons for an all week Finland celebration, a return for Everyone's favorite crackhead and an epiphany of what makes Hop Sing Jung great, even if he doesn’t score the big W. Revolution XC will come to you again in just a little bit with Revolution XC 7, where the Middleweight and Heavyweight Titles will be on the line as Kavela Vettenranta takes on the inexperienced but deadly Dmitri Zaitsev and Andy Fitzgerald will defend his belt for the first (and potentially last time, more on that in the preview) against another popular Fin in Tapio Valo.

Revolution XC 7 comes at you via King Theatre in Los Angeles with not one, but Two major Title Fights in the last two fights of October 6th 2016

There’s going to be violence, prestige, and potentially controversy. I’ll get to that later, but first let’s start with the undercard, which is headlined by a major Light-heavyweight fight between Arturo Vidal and Angry Racist and an appearance by the best thing to happen to Buzz in a long time.

“Soul Absorber” Kenshiro Kakashi vs Hank “The Tank” Nellans

Super-Heavyweight Contest

Kakashi’s debut was a disaster, as his body was tenderized like a hunk of meat and he lost via unanimous 30-25 scorecards. Nellans debut was the opposite end of the suck spectrum as he got guillotined in 0:18 seconds. This fight depends on whether Kakashi goes to the ground, as he could get an easy submission, but “The Tank” could wreck him on the feet. I see this fight being won by Hank via late stoppage.

Nellans via TKO (Punches), round 3

Tyrone “TG” Grant vs Sigurmann “Iron Man” Vignisson

Featherweight Contest

3-1 records collide in this featherweight contest. Grant is a Brown Belt in BJJ who wants to drag this fight to the ground and choke out “Iron Man”, but his only loss has been via decision. Vigisson was TKO’d in his second fight and has won all of his bouts via decision. This fight could come down to Sigurmann’s takedown defense, as if he gets put on his back or if Grant pulls guard, then he’s screwed. Grant’s wrestling is feeble, but he could still get this to the ground. I think he just needs to go down once to win.

Grant via Submission (Triangle Choke), round 1

Antonio Diaz vs Ricky Watts

Bantamweight Contest

Their records might be vastly different (Diaz is 3-0 and Watts is 0-1), but these two are near identical in skillset. Diaz dominated Dan Sergeant in his RXC debut, but wins all of his fights via unanimous decision. It’s still better than not having any wins at all. Watts does has a similar moveset, but I think Diaz will use his skills better.

Diaz via Unanimous Decision

Marty “Big Iron” Robbins vs Nate “Ninja” Diaz

Welterweight Contest

Marty Robbins is the best thing to ever happen to this game. No Joke, No Contest. His Buzzes are amazing and his personality is going to make him a star. He also has the skills to pay the bills, as he almost defeated former Highland Games Champon Jake Belcher until he got TKO’d in the third round.

His first three wins were via 23, 26, and 32 second Knockout (with one technical), and they were all in the first round. Nate Diaz could be special one day, but I think tonight he’s just going to be a part of Robbins’ highlight reel.

Robbins via KO (Punches), round 1

Artuto “Bad Boy” Vidal vs Angry “BLM” Racist

Light-Heavyweight Contest

These two fighters are going to be necessary in Revolution XC’s Light-heavyweight growth. Vidal is 6-0 and two of his wins are against the same guy in two ICON Fight NIGHTS. Racist is actually a serious competitor with serious skills, and has been undefeated in his three fights since being picked up by Michio Kaku, including a unanimous decision victory against Rage Parade in his RXC debut. Vidal can win this in the clinch, but Racist has edges in boxing, Mauy Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. His biggest advantage is boxing, but I think he’ll use his wrestling to score a decision victory.

Racist via Unanimous Decision

Marcel “The Missile” Cavendish vs Michael “The Inquisitor” Campion

Heavyweight Contest

Don’t let Cavendish’s 2-2 record fool you. “The Missile” started off losing two losses, but like Racist, he found new life under the management of Kaku. The man seems to have a knack for turning trash into treasure. He has edges in every aspect of this fight besides his BJJ belt, which both are purple. However, I see this fight ending via Finish for the young native of Monte Carlo.

Cavendish via TKO (Punches), round 2

Gleb Zheglov vs Rob Maldonado

Light-Heavyweight Contest

Zhegov has seen it all in Revolution XC. He’s a veteran of the Island and made it to round 4. Like Belcher, he’s also a former Highland Games Champion. Maldonado is a newer face to RXC, and his record is so-so at 5-4. All of his fights have been finishes and all of his victories have been ended via TKO. The outcome of this fight depends on where it ends up. If it stays on the feet, then we’ve got an interesting encounter on our hands. However, Maldonado is a Sensational wrestler with a blue belt. Gleb owns a white belt. A smart Maldonado is a dangerous Maldonado, and I think he might fight smart.

Maldonado via Unanimous Decision

Dwight “The First Man” Everidge vs Ilmari Kuusi

Heavyweight Contest

Everidge is making his debut for Revolution XC after five fights on the Quick Fighting Championship circuit. All of his wins have come via his fists, but he’s also coming off a lose via Rear Naked Choke. Kuusi hasn’t fought since the first Revolution XC named event, and that was a loss. All of his wins have come via submission, and he has been savagely knocked out in the past. There are two ways I see this fight going and neither scenario ends after the first round. Either Everidge gets a knockout, or Kuusi get the submission. This will be my coin pick of the card. Tails, Kuusi gets this one.

Kuusi via Submission (RNC), round 1

Kaleva Vettenranta vs Dmitri “One Shot” Zaitsev

Heavyweight Championship Fight

Everything about Revolution XC’s double Champ is scary. From his appearance to his skill set to No Bull$hit attitude, Vettenranta is like a serial killer in the way he effectively takes down and slaughters his competition. He might have 4 losses to 15 wins, but I would rather fight an army of Chinese soldiers to him.

On paper, the 2-0 Dmitri Zaitsez has zero chance at winning this fight. Not so fast. Zaitsev might only have a limited record, but his skill set is something to be admired. He might be the best striker in the entire company, and while heavyweights who can turn your lights out are nothing new, he also brings in an exceptional wrestling background to this fight.

Another interesting fact is that both of his fights have ended at the 2:16 of the first round, against Stan Sarzynski on the QFC circuit and against former champ Kyle Long in his retirement bout. This fight comes down to takedown defense, and Zaitsev needs to stay on point in order to win, and he needs to finish fast. The moment Kaleva gets this on the ground is the moment he is almost guaranteed to win

. I regret using my coin toss earlier since I need to now legitimately pick a winner here. But I’m taking a chance and picking Zaitsev to win the championship.

Zaitsev via KO (Punches), round 1

Andy Fitzgerald vs Tapio Valo

Middleweight Championship Fight

This is going to be a no frills kind of encounter. No trash talk, fancy nicknames, or Bull$hit. Just a St. Lucian who wants to prove his stamp on being a true champion and a Finlander who wants a belt on his mantle. Fitzgerald got the first decision victory of his career and won the Middleweight championship in a Fight of the Night bout against Rocco Antonio Siffredi who had defeated him in two previous fights. Tapio Valo also fought RAS in his previous encounter and seemed to be winning the fight until he got separated from his conscience.

He prides himself on his Wonderful Mauy Thai and Proficient wrestling to win his fights, and he’s not too bad at using his fists to make the referee stop a fight. Fitzgerald has been more successful at punching guys until their night ends in tears.

He also has real damn good wrestling, though he doesn’t seem to use it all that often in his fights. Alright, let’s get to what I’ve been wanting to bring up. Fitzgerald is on the last fight of his contract and I haven’t been able to contact his manager. I’ve sent a contract to him, but he hasn’t signed it yet. I hope he’s doing alright, but I don’t want Fitzgerald to lose the belt if he defends it, which I believe will be the case on October 6th.

Fitzgerald via KO (Punches), round 3

  • 2 weeks later...
First of all I’d like to apologize for the late review, college can take a lot out of somebody. Other than that, Revolution XC 7 was a showcase for two important title fights, with additional good news in the form of the announcement that Andy Fitzgerald signed a new contract before the event occurred. Without further ado, let’s get to the arm twisting, star seeing, Championship Caliber action that only Revolution XC can provide.

“Soul Absorber” Kenshiro Kakashi vs Hank “The Tank” Nellans

Super Heavyweight MMA Action

This was the very definition of an opener. A fight between two low level guys that doesn’t really mean much in the long run, but helps set the tone of the night. Nellans made the mistake of going to the ground and paid the price by getting submitted via Kimura, putting his record at 0-2. Kakashi earned his first win and sits at 1-1.

Tyrone “TG” Grant vs Sigurmann “Iron Man” Vignisson

Featherweight MMA Action

This was painful to watch. For three rounds Vignisson clinched up to grant and wrecked him with knees to the body and head. Grant could have been knocked out by any one of the 42 strikes to the head, but by some means he made it all the way to the final bell. Unfortunately heart doesn’t win scorecards, as he lost via unanimous 30-24 scorecards , falling to 3-2 in the process. “Iron Man” will be ecstatic about having a 4-1 record going into his next fight.

Antonio Diaz vs Ricky “Killa” Watts

Bantamweight MMA Action

What a way to get your first finish, eh? Diaz outstruck Watts, blocked all 19 takedowns, and won via TKO after a huge punch followed up with additional ground and pound. Despite similar fight skillsets, Diaz made this fight look easy and moves his record to 4-0. Watts is still in search of his first victory at 0-2.

Marty “Big Iron” Robbins vs Nate “Ninja” Diaz

Welterweight MMA Action

I’ve long gushed about the Buzz darling that is Marty Robbins, and in this fight he should that he is way more than just talk. 19 seconds were all he needed to make #PaSays proud, by knocking Diaz silly and putting some cherry ground and pound on top of the cake. This record has “Big Iron’s” record at 4-1, and every one of his wins has won KO of the Night. Diaz is 3-2 after the loss.

Arturo “Bad Boy” Vidal vs Angry “BLM” Racist

Light-Heavyweight MMA Action

Dang. Racist’s performance was legitimately freighting. He immediately took the formerly undefeated Vidal straight to the ground and smashed him with ground and pound, knocking him out with a single massive hammerfist. Racist, now 4-1, has established himself as a bonafide contender at Light-Heavyweight. Vidal, who suffered his first loss after 6 straight wins, hasn’t signed back to RXC, but he’s definitely welcome to return.

Marcel “The Outsider” Cavendish vs Michael “The Inquisitor” Campion

Heavyweight MMA Action

Cavendish established himself as a new face to watch out for, as he got unanimous 30-27 scorecards against the veteran Campion. “The Inquisitor” had his moments, getting four takedowns, but they didn’t help since he wasn’t able to do much when he got there and it sent his record down to 7-4. Cavendish won on the feet and managed to reverse position a multitude of time during the fight. Not only did he get out of .500 at 3-2, but he also won the chance to fight Former Heavyweight Champion Papa Shango at ICON Fight NIGHT 5.

Gleb Zheglov vs Rob Maldonado

Light-Heavyweight MMA Action

I said in the preview that a smart Maldonado is a dangerous Maldonado. While his strategy was smart, his preparation absolutely wasn’t. He came in at the weigh-ins a 207.4 lbs and barely made weight afterwards, so his cardio took a major hit. It didn’t help that he couldn’t hit any of his 38 takedown attempts. Ouch. Speaking of ouch, Zheglov knocked out Maldonado so brutally that he was out before he hit the floor. Maldonado has now slipped to the dreaded .500 at 5-5. Zheglov is now 14-4, and he remains one of the best in Revolution XC’s Light-Heavyweight Division.

Dwight “First Man” Everidge vs Ilmari Kuusi

Heavyweight MMA Action

This fight was my coin flip fight, as I thought that either Everidge would win via KO or Kuusi would win via submission. My coin landed on Kuusi and that’s how the fight ended up. Kuusi immediately went to the ground and beat down “First Man” until he could slap on an Americana at 1:41 seconds within the first round sending Everidge’s record to 4-2. Now 9-6, Kuusi earned him a title shot at a later event against the winner of…

Kavela Vettenranta vs Dmitri “One Shot” Zaitsev

Heavyweight Championship Fight

Vettenranta has a terrifying reputation among the fighters in Revolution XC. His wins are some of the most dominant in history. Zaitsev made him look easy. In a shocking display of dominance, Dmitri got into the clinch, blocked all 4 takedowns attempted by the former double champion, and Blasted him with punch after punch until the Finlander wilted under the pressure. This was only Zaitsev’s third fight, but he made Kavela look like a chump and won the heavyweight championship in the process. Vettenranta, 15-5, will go back to Light-Heavyweight to defend his Championship there, where he is still seen as a monster, as he was an undersized Heavyweight.

Andy Fitzgerald vs Tapio Valo

Middleweight Championship Fight

This was a battle of attrition and the Champ had more in the tank. Fitzgerald got into the clinch and wouldn’t let Valo out, as he beatdown the Finlander with strikes until he wilted like a flower in a nuclear fallout (yes I can be poetic). Valo falls to 13-5, and honestly, his future might be bleak, even if both of his previous fights were for championships. Despite defending his championship, the now 14-3 Fitzgerald has expressed interest in either going up to 205 or down to 170, either option would produce a number of excellent superfights.

Post Fight Bonuses

Fight of the Night-Sigurmann Vignisson vs Tyrone Grant

This has less to do with the actual fight and more to do with the heart and chin shown by Grant. He lost bad, but won respect for showing toughness and heart.

Knockout of the Night-Marty Robbins

Robbins went out and embraced the hype and ended the night of Nate Diaz in a mere 19 seconds. Not a bad night for someone who can’t legally drink.

Submission of the Night-Ilmari Kuusi

A simple takedown, ground and pound, and Americana were all Kuusi needed tonight to defeat Dwight Everidge and earn himself a championship fight at Revolution XC 8.

Conclusion

Two divisions were changed in two major ways. First, the Heavyweight Championship changed hands from Vettenranta to Zaitsev. Right after that, Andy Fitzgerald defended his Middleweight Championship, but announced that he would be leaving the division. Will these same changes occur next time at ICON Fight NIGHT 4, where three Title will be on the line. First, Michael Carter will look to defend his newly won gold against Finland’s Favorite Featherweight Pyry Kontio. Then, A super fight of elite strikers with big names as Don Julio Cesar Chavez looks to finish Rocco Antonio Siffredi. Finally, Royal Pain looks to return to the mountaintop as he looks to wretch the Lightweight Championship against one of the best strikers in MMA today in Alexander Vermeer.

Gone is Revolution XC 7 and now we go on to ICON Fight NIGHT 4. This October Night will feature 3 Championship Fights, including one Welterweight Superfight, Another appearance by Welterweight contender Jake Belcher, and an important Lightweight Fight between unexpected contenders Kevin Kilpatrick and Noam Nystrom.

Josh Gates vs Jake “The Protagonist” Tyler

Welterweight Contest

It’s hard not to feel for Tyler. His record doesn’t seem to be a reflection of his skills, as he’s 1-4, though his current 3 fight losing streak was a result of fighting some stiff competition. Gates is also an underrated commodity at 2-2, but he’s another product of the Michio Kaku restoration, and his debut saw him win Knockout of the Night against Igz Kincaid. Tyler has the edge in standup, but Gates can get this to the ground. However, that doesn’t seem like a smart choice given that Tyler owns a Purple Belt. This fight could go either way, but I think Tyler might just get back on track tonight.

Tyler via KO (Punch), round 2

Jordan Dahl vs Alex “The Lumberjack” Miller

Lightweight Contest

Proficient in both boxing and Muay Thai, Miller will actually be making his professional debut at this event. Dahl is also making his debut, but he has more experience at 3-1. His best skill coming in is his BJJ, where he has a Purple Belt. His wrestling is mediocre, but it’s better than Miller’s abysmal wrestling. Ultimately, I see Miller Dominating in the clinch and going the distance in what can hopefully be a long career.

Miller via Unanimous Decision

Xi “BoxeR” Lim vs Alberto “Rocha Rocha” Silva

Featherweight Contest

His record might seem mediocre, but Xi Lim might be one of the best young prospects in MMA today. Every skill he has is top notch, capped off with Exceptional Muay Thai. Silva lost his debut at ICON Fight NIGHT 2 via TKO, and he really didn’t show anything special in that fight. This is the 99% guaranteed pick of the night.

Lim via TKO (Strikes), round 1

D’Wayne “Crips” Williams vs “Little” Joe Bailey

Lightweight Contest

Williams has slowly made his way up the ranks in Revolution XC, winning both of his fights since coming here. Bailey surprised everyone in his Debut when he was TKO’d by Noam Nystrom in the third round. Stand up seems to be William’s bread and butter, as shown in his RXC fights, but his Muay Thai might be his best skill. However, standing and trading with Bailey is bound to be a mistake, as Bailey has Exceptional Boxing at his disposal. If these two start to bang it out, then expect “Little” Joe to get a Big Knockout.

Bailey via KO (Punch), round 1

Vincent DeFarina vs Antonio Silva

Light-Heavyweight Contest

DeFarina’s previous two RXC encounters both saw him dominate, but ended in wildly different fashion. First, He beat the crap out of Bill Brown before getting submitted in the second round, then he beat Anthony Johnson so badly that he felt the need to retire. Silva is making his RXC debut after going 6-3 on three different circuits. Vincent is at his best when he mixes up his two best skills, stand up and clinch work. He also lands an absurd amount of strikes, and while it’s not a finishing kind of style, the sheer pressure can really mentally ruin guys. Silva won Knockout of the Night in his previous encounter with a brutal head kick, and his Muay Thai is top notch (seems to be a theme tonight). However, I see DeFarina getting the decision win with his mind breaking strategy.

DeFarina via Unanimous Decision

“Doctor” Kevin Kilpatrick vs Noam Nystrom

Lightweight Contest

Nate Gonzalez and Joe Bailey were big favorites at ICON Fight NIGHT 3, but these two rose to the occasion. Kilpatrick went the distance to score the decision against the former champion and Nysrtom wilted Bailey in the clinch until he got the finish late into the third round. “Doctor” looked good at every position of the fight with Nate, showing a very well rounded style. He seems like a jack of all trades and a master of maybe a few. Nystrom’s best skill is his wrestling, and as shown in his fight with Bailey, he can control people in the clinch as well. I see Noam finishing Kilpatrick within the distance

Nystrom via TKO (Punches), round 3

Jake “The Talent” Belcher vs Joakin Bordado

Welterweight Contest

Coming off another beating courtesy of Peter Potter, Belcher looks to get back on track against the debuting Bordado. Undefeated at 4-0, nothing about the Philippines native really stands out. Longtime viewers of RXC will recognize Belcher and what his style is, which is go to the ground and pound out a victory, and I don’t see this fight being any different.

Belcher via TKO (Punches), round 1

Michael “Hurricane” Carter vs Pyry Kontio

Featherweight Championship Contest

“The Hurricane” made a huge statement in just his second RXC fight when he dismantled Issumater Tariaksuq via Unanimous decision to win the Featherweight Championship. He should great striking and wrestling on his way to Championship Gold, but now he’s got a target on his back, and Finland’s Favorite Featherweight is looking for a bullseye. For Kontio, this is his third attempt at the Title, having previously lost to both Issumater and Alexander Vermeer in the past, so this fight will determine whether Kontio is RXC’s Urijah Faber. Kontio’s strategy is simple, get to the ground and either beats the opponent with punches or submit them. This strategy will be difficult against Carter, as his wrestling is top notch, and if he can outstrike Tariaksuq, then he can outstrike Pyry. As much as I like Kontio, I don’t think he’ll survive this Hurricane.

Carter via TKO (Punches), round 1

Don Julio Cesar Chavez vs Rocco Antonio “Italian Stallion” Siffredi

Welterweight Championship Contest

Jeez that’s a mouthful. Chavez has stated that he wants super fights more than anything, and he’s got one in the form of former Middleweight Champion RAS. The most likely place this fight will finish is on the feet, as these two love to hit and hit hard. Chavez has won Bonuses in all three of his previous fights, including submitting Peter Potter and murdering Fernando Luiz via Superman Punch. Siffredi lost his Middleweight championship when he got decisioned by Andy Fitzgerald, but he also won Fight of the Night. “Italian Stallion” has never been finished in a fight before, but I think that might change when he fights the human highlight reel that is Don Julio Cesar Chavez.

Chavez via KO (Punch), round 1

Alexander Vermeer vs Royal Pain “In the Ass”

Lightweight Championship Contest

After losing twice to Nate Gonzalez, Pain came back with two big wins over Royce Disgracie and Hop Sing Jung. He now finds himself face to face with one of the best strikers in the game today, Alexander Vermeer, and the Lightweight Title is on the line. Vermeer also defeated Jung in his previous fight, Knocking out the 5 ft supernova with two seconds left in the round, very similar to his spinning backfist knockout of Pyry Kontio with only one second left. This is a great example of why every second in the cage with Vermeer is one second too many. Pain will need to get close and hug the #$^& out of Vermeer in order to avoid the lethal striking game he possesses. Personally, I think this fight could go either way, so this will be my coin pick of the night. Tails, Pain wins the belt again.

Pain via Submission (RNC), round 5

  • 2 months later...

Odin Thorsen had an interview on a popular MMA podcast earlier today about his upcoming fight with former Island standout Theodore Thundercunt. Here is a transcript of a section of the interview, for those of you who missed it.

Reporter: You made quite an entrance into Revolution XC- ICON at Bravado 21 last month.

Thorsen: Yeah, I was pretty comfortable against Wildslap in that fight. I found my range early, and I don't think he expected me to hit that hard. He's a good fighter. That's not always enough.

Reporter: Your next opponent is a huge step up in competition. No disrespect to Rancho Wildslap (who went on to win his next fight , by the way), but a fight against Theodore Thundercunt is almost a whole different sport. He's a seasoned veteran, one of the final two fighters on season five of The Island, and he's pretty good at knocking people out.

Thorsen: He's pretty good at knocking people out, but so am I. And we do it differently. He's going to look for openings, try to spot holes in my game, try to draw me out. I'm going to take his fucking head off of his shoulders. Six losses by KO? None of those guys hit as hard as I do.

Reporter: You seem pretty confident going into this thing.

Thorsen: I have a good reason to be. It's a small world. My manager, Tony Scatero, used to manage a fighter who happened to be on season five of The Island, a guy named Papa Shango. Shango was one of my sparring partners when I was first getting started in my career, and that was a couple years ago. I've come a long way since then, I've had great training and developed a much more dynamic game. If Shango beat Thundercunt in the clinch, I'm going to destroy him. That's all there is to it.

Reporter: As you said, that was a long time ago. Thundercunt has had plenty of time to train and up his game as well.

Thorsen: I'm sure he hasn't been sitting idle; but, like I said, he's had six KO losses. Once he feels that first jab touch his chin, he's going to know that he's in trouble. I'm going to hit Theodore Thundercunt like a truck...

RXC: Making 2016 Tap Out

This is it. The last RXC event of 2016. It’s been a wild 2016, and it’s only going to be a crazier 2017. Every belt will be on the line, including two returning titles as Bantamweight and Super-Heavyweight usher in a new generation of Stars. Rather then do a “Preview” preview, I’ll instead do little stories about each of the participants. Hopefully this preview gets everyone who reads it excited. Without further ado, let’s get to the Hard-Hittting, Bone-Breaking, Star-Studded action that only Revolution XC can provide.

Mad Dog Malone

Malone is a young police officer looking to make a name for himself. His front line work along with his trusty sidekick Duke (a German Shepherd) and police training make Malone an interesting prospect. He made his pro debut at ICON Fight NIGHT 7, going the distance with Jerry Smith. In that fight his favorite weapon seemed to be leg kicks, but he gave up two takedowns to Smith. Luckily for the Skamania County native, he won on all scorecards. A fight against and equally stand-up happy Grigorian could end up as a late fight of the year if this remains upright.

“The sleeper” Adam Grigorian

Another interesting 20 year old prospect, Grigorian proved in his last fight that he has all the potential in the world to be a Champion. Grigorian was born in Gyumri, Armenia and lost his parents at the age of 2. He was raised since then by his Uncle, Teron, whose involvement at a local gym gave Adam his purpose in life, to fight. He started out his career with 6 victories, finishing half of them with strikes, and was then hired by RXC. His first fight against Leandro Leite ended with a Head Kick KO. His next fight was with Buzz rival Kadeo Neal, and the fight was outstanding. Even though Grigorian won by second round TKO, there were no losers in that fight. This got Adam a chance to fight Ukko Metso for the recently vacated Middleweight Championship, where he was three seconds away from potentially winning the belt. He comes back to face a potential future champion in Malone, and knowing Grigorian, you know the two time fight of the night winner will be looking to make Mad Dog’s journey a living Hell and work his way up to another Championship fight.

Alexein “The Flying Lemur” Rakotonandrasana

A look at Rako’s previous 4 fights show a rather diverse way of getting victories. From a decision due stand up to three straight submissions, to brought on by takedowns while the other was due to a knock down. He’s only 5’5, which would be small for Lightweight, much less Super-Heavyweight. His best chance of winning might be on the feet, as his striking could lead him to a Championship.

Matt Williams

A QFC Tournament Winner, Williams is a behemoth pure and simple. He takes you down and beats you until either the ref or the doctor tells him to stop. His debut against Harry Gartola was a sight to behold, and there’s a feeling that he could be a Super-Heavyweight Champion for years to come.

Marc Dutroux

This 19 year old Belgian prospect makes his RXC debut on the big stage at University Park. His last fight wasn’t too impressive, but his first two fights ended with strikes, including a big time KO via punch. His best chance at victory might be in the clinch.

Chester “Hollywood” Jones

When Jones made his RXC debut, I made fun of the fact that his first opponent was a dead rapper. Fast forward two fights later and he could be a quick armbar way from being a Champion. Chester’s debut against Dan Sergeant ended with a Triangle Submission, and he topped that in his next fight against Jan Rudy, where he submitted the Polish Powerhouse in 38 seconds. At 7-0, Jones is the clear Ace of the Bantamweight division, and he’ll probably come in as the biggest favorite of the night.

Maurice “Black” Smith

Smith is one of three fighters on the card who are under my management. He’s a tough, street smart kid who grew up in the roughest parts of Stockton. However, he’s come far in life and finds himself on a big card. His debut against Hop Sing Jung was a thing of beauty, as he almost finished Jung multiple times on his way to a dominant decision win. What he lacks in size he makes up for in striking prowess.

Eddie Malingo

Eddie’s strength comes from his well roundedness. This Australian badass might have started his career out slow, losing to super prospect Lamar Allen, but he made up for it in his next fight against Kuroda Atsushii, cruising to a decision victory. It was one of 2 decision victories he’s gotten, along with a submission win and four straight TKOs.

Gregory “The Hammer” Erickson

Erickson is a modern day Viking, big, strong, and brutal. This Icelandic powerhouse is 7-0 and was a champion in Arena Fighting Championship before he signed with RXC. He’s a standup killer, finishing 5 of his foes in the first round, including a spinning backfist in 5 seconds. Erickson might be one of the few fighters at heavyweight who could go toe-to-toe with current Heavyweight Champion Zaitsev.

Dimitri “One Shot” Zaitsev

As cliche as it sounds, Dimitri Zaitsev is a modern day Ivan Drago. I wouldn’t be surprised if underneath all that flesh were robot parts, because he feels like an insane russian experiment. After an easy QFC fight, he was signed to RXC and retired former champion Kyle Long. This got him a Title fight against fellow killing machine Kaleva Vettenranta, where he made the current Light-Heavyweight champion look like a shrimp. His first Championship defense was a 0:17 KO of Ilmari Kuusi, but his next fight showed a new side of Zaitsev. Against former champion Papa Shango, he actually got knocked down, but came back to shred Shango’s face like a pencil sharpener. Coming into this fight, Zaitsev looks vulnerable, and he’ll need a big victory to show that knockdown was a fluke.

“Eater of Worlds” Dwayne James

Another fighter under my management, James is the biggest underdog of the fight card. His last fight was in July, which in MMA Tycoon time is like 3 years. On top of that, he lost. At 7-2, every fight he’s ever had hasn’t gone the distance, with the longest being 2:57 of the second round. James might have the lowest chance of winning, but weirder things have happened in MMA.

Kaleva Vettenranta

Like Dimitri Zaitsev, Kaleva Vennenranta is absolutely terrifying, or at least, he was. A veteran of Highland games and the Island, the Finnish monster crushed Kyle Long, Gleb Zheglov, and Papa Shango on a quest to hold 2 titles in 2 weight divisions. These fights made him seem like a force of nature, then came along Dmitri Zaitsev and everything came crumbling down. A boring title defence against Antonio Silva didn’t help matters, but a dominant victory over James could bring his reputation back.

Noam Nystrom

His record doesn’t look amazing, but Noam Nystrom’s RXC fights have been nothing less than amazing. Joe Bailey, Kevin Kilpatrick and Nate Gonzalez have all been caught in Nystrom’s spider web and have been devoured. Noam is a brash and cocky kid with the skills to back it up, and he’s made it very clear that he wants that belt.

Royal Pain “In the Ass”

Pain has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. He’s won belts and lost belts, but most important now is that he’s the champion now. He’s the man for a reason, and from his Highland Games run to being kicked out in the second round of the Island to submitting Royce Disgracie to win a belt to losing twice to Nate Gonzalez by Decision, from getting KO’d by Alexander Vermeer to Submitting him in the next fight, Pain has done it all except successfully defend his championship.

Rich “Black Snake” Piana

On July 17 2016, Rich Piana won the Island Season 5, finishing Uzziah Juddah in a mere 26 seconds. He was shortly released by his manager afterwards, and has lost his last two fights against Akoni Gray. However, his popularity hasn’t been forgotten by RXC, as he’s coming to fight Ukko Metso for the second time with the Championship on the line. Along with Juddah and Metso, Piana has also beaten Kyle Long.

Ukko Metso

It seemed like Ukko Metso was destined to be the Pyry Kontio of the Middleweight division. A powerful Finnish fighter who could beat anyone who wasn’t already at the top. His luck would change after Andy Fitzgerald left for the Welterweight division. This lead him to an epic fight with Adam Grigorian with the vacated championship on the line, a fight that Ukko might have lost on the scorecards had he not knocked out Adam deep into the 5th round. Now he sits alone at the top, facing the only other man to have ever beaten him.

Kame Sennin “Muten Roshi”

Another Island veteran making his RXC debut, Sennin has had a remarkably successful career, whether it be in Strikeforce Union, Highland Games, LKO, or the Island. His massive popularity makes it no wonder that he’s managed to get a spot in the co-main event of the biggest RXC show of the year. Kame is managed by Red Finger, who also manages current Welterweight champion Don Julio Cesar Chavez, which definitely accounts for his massive success, winning 18 of his 20 fights, a 90% win ratio.

Arjan “Back From The Edge” Kush

“Back From The Edge” is a perfect nickname for this man, because until I found him, Arjan Kush had nothing going in his life. After being finished by former two-division RXC Champion Alexander Vermeer, Kush went into a self-imposed exile, only coming back for a grappling tournament that he ended up losing in the first round. I picked him up from free agency and signed him. His first match was against former RXC Featherweight Champion and literal ass-kicker Issumater Tariaksuq. The fight was one-sided for Issu until Arjan got a hail Mary takedown and submitted him. Next was a championship fight with Michael “Hurricane” Carter, who came into the fight with a ton of momentum. It seemed like another Carter route in the making until a quick armbar shocked the world and Kush had truly come back from the edge. I don’t know how long the Cinderella Story will last, but against Kame Sennin, who owns a previous victory against Kush, Arjan knows that he’s already exceeded any expectations for success in Revolution XC.

Rick James

21 victories, 21 victories via (T)KO, winner of the Island season 5 at Welterweight, and most importantly, a former RXC Welterweight Champion. There is very little that Rick James has achieved, all while having a very public love of cocaine. On December 31st, he looks to end his Trilogy with Don Julio Cesar Chavez on top. Their first fight ended with James knocking him out in the third round, and their next fight ended with a similar finish, but a different round and winner. After that, as well as management changes, Rick developed a new style, where he would clinch up with an opponent and slice them until the doctor would call the fight. Will this new style work against the greatest champion RXC has ever had, or will Rick James (Bitch!) get his couch stomped?

Don Julio Cesar Chavez

What more can be said about Don Julio Cesar Chavez? Not only is he the best fighter in RXC, but he’s one of the best period. He might have lost the Island Finals to James, but that fight earned him a rematch that he won in 42 seconds. He fallowed that with a 40 second submission over former Welterweight champ Peter Potter, a 35 second Superman Punch KO against Fernando Luiz, an under two minute war with Rocco Antonio Siffredi, and an armbar in a super fight with Andy Fitzgerald. All of those performances won him post-fight bonuses. Chavez knows what he wants, he’s made it very clear that after this fight, he wants to fight at Lightweight, where I know he could do massive damage and build his legacy even more. He might seem cocky to some, but there’s no question that Don Julio Cesar Chavez has earned every bragging right in the book.

Marcio Alvarez (294147)

They say you learn more from a loss than any victory.

I tasted defeat in the MMA cage for the first time and i have noone to blame but myself. I went in with the wrong gameplan and i got caught. I will learn from this and come back stronger than ever.

There's a whole lot of ducking going on. My fighter Jed Knight has been offer around 7 fights since he's signed with Revolution XC and only one fighter excepted it. His goal is to be the 170, 185, and 205 champ. When Chavez is done running around trying do what Jed is destined to do, Jed will send him down to 155.

Yes i ducked myself right now, Scaletta VS Orsini, a total mismatch for me as my fighter have no ground game yet, had to do it unless i wanted to gift some free victories to Stu Mack.

Revolution XC 14 Preview

Sorry for not posting in a while, I’ve had college stuff to deal with. I feel like I have a bit of free time so I’ve decided to do a little preview for the next RXC event scheduled for February 12. This event has two huge championship fights on the top of the card, with Kame Sennin defending his Featherweight Championship for the first time against Hop Sing Jung, and Current Welterweight Champion and #1 pound for pound fighter in RXC Don Julio Cesar Chavez looks to hold two belts in two divisions by taking the gold from defending Middleweight Champion Ukko Metso. Also on the card will be Andrey Lobtov looking to brutalize Jake Belcher and Issac Curtis will be there for one night only to fight fellow ass kicker and former Featherweight Champion Issumater Tariaksuq.

Marcus Browne vs Drip “Sauce” Set

Set has had a decent run on the QFC circuit, going 5-1, but the striker from Beaumont will face his biggest challenge in veteran Browne. After loseing four fights in a row, Browne will be looking to get back on track in a major way, and since he’s got an advantage everywhere except submissions (both have blue belts), I think Browne will be firing on all cylinders come Fight Night.

Browne via KO in Round 1

Carlito “Malo” Brigante vs Marc Dutroux

Brigante came back from a devastating loss to Jan Rudy to dominate Paul Butler, submitting him in the first round. If he wins tonight, he’ll fight reinging champion Chester Jones, who already owns a victory over Dutroux. The Belgian Stand up artist also has some surprising hidden skills, including a purple belt and proficient wrestling. The one advantage “Malo” has is his clinch game, but he could do damage with it. This is a close one, but I think Brigante will use his veteran savvy to earn a title shot.

Brigante via Unanimous Decision

Michael “The Inquisitor” Campion vs Garrett Redish

I won’t give an actual prediction here because Campion is one of my fighters. The same is true for Dwayne James and Arjan Kush. Campion hasn’t fought in a long time and he lost his last fight, but he’s going against Redish, who’s record is 6-6 but he does have a pretty neat skill set. This fight could go either way, but I can’t say who I think will win.

“Pretty” Peter Potter vs Van Jones

You know a fight card is amazing when a constant main event-er in Potter is only 4th on the card. Sadly for the former champ, he’s been struggling recently, having lost two in a row to Rick James and Rocco Antonio Siffredi. Jones is a nasty piece of work who has finished all 10 of his victories with his hands, bad news for Potter who has been knocked on his ass as much as he’s tapped out. Today, I’ll be giving Potter the benefit of the doubt since I don’t think Jones is anywhere near as dangerous as RAS or James. I think Potter will whether the storm and come out on top.

Potter via Unanimous Decision

“Eater of Worlds” Dwayne James vs Bill “Blood” Brown

Despite James being one of my fighters, this fight is hard for me. I love Brown because of his submission game and toughness, though that gave out on his in his last fight. Brown will also be looking to get back on track from losing his championship to Ed Driver.

Arjan “Back From The Edge” Kush vs Xi “BoxeR” Lim

What Lim lacks in a huge record he makes up for with an amazing skillset. He can strike and grapple with the best of them, and Kush is his chance to put on a break out performance. As for Kush, he’s in the same boat as James, looking to get back on track after badly losing to Sennin and losing his championship.

“The Farmer” Isaac Curtis vs “Artic Frost” Issumater Tariaksuq

This has all the potential to be a striker’s delight. Isaac Curtis has accepted an open challenge to fight Issumater Tariaksuq in one of the most interesting superfights ever put together in RXC. Issu is coming off two wins in a row against Pyry Kontio and Tobias Marshall, but Curtis is a different beast all together. The humble Curtis might look like an average crack of dawn hard working farmer, but pound for pound, he could out strike nearly everyone on the planet. This fight comes down to whether Issu fights smart or not. He could use his superior clinch game at risk of angering the paying fans, or he could go tit for tac with Curtis, which could spell his doom.

Curtis via TKO in Round 3

Andrey “Predator” Lobtov vs Jake “The Talent” Belcher

While unconfirmed, this could be Belcher’s last fight. He’s seen better days after getting throttled by Andy Fitzgerald and Marty Robbins. If this the last time we’ll see him, then it’s been a wild ride. On the other side, Lobtov is making his RXC debut and already has a huge following. Heck, this fight was more in demand then the Curtis Tariaksuq fight. I could see this fight going in two ways, a close ground fight, and a dominant standup encounter by “Predator.” I don’t think Belcher will get a proper swan song on February 12.

Lobtov via Submission in Round 2

Kame Sennin “Muten Roshi” vs Hop Sing “Hyun Ae” Jung

Featherweight Championship

In his last fight and RXC debut, Sennin beat down Arjan Kush all the way into the 5th round and came out with the Featherweight Championship. Jung has been to the mountaintop before, but knowing how competitive he is, one expedition won’t be enough. Jung’s best chance in this fight is to bring Sennin to the ground and either submit him, or grind him to a decision victory. On the other side, Kame Sennin has on obvious edge on the feet, and he could decimate Jung all day long. I think that’s where this fight will most likely go.

Sennin via TKO in Round 3

Ukko Metso vs Don Julio Cesar Chavez

Middleweight Championship

Very few people in the Welterweight division could give Chavez a challenge at this point. Off the top of my head, I think either Buzz darling Marty Robbins or top prospect Jed Knight could give him a good fight, but tonight isn’t about either of them. Tonight is about Chavez attempting to win the Middleweight Champion against Ukko Metso. Like Sennin, Chavez could absolutely blitz Metso on the feet, but Metso does have one advantage and that is his wrestling. Unfortunately, Chavez’s ground game is on par with Metso’s, and he’s been able to submit top competitors like Peter Potter and Andy Fitzgerald. February 12 will most likely be the day Chavez goes past the mountaintop and ascends to the Moon.

Dean Wesson: I was offered 3 fights on short notice and I accepted all of them. Can't say the same for others... Gunnar, Kyrios, and Mad Dog. So RXC you should just cut them cause you want bad ass fighters and they are clearly not. Seriously guys I'm 7-4 and not wearing the belt or anything so what the hell is everyone running from. RXC let's get some new blood in here that have some balls at MW please.
