Yahoo Fantasy Hockey seems like a really good league manager. I working on setting up a league but before I publish the link I'd like to know if there is at least 8 people that would be interested. We'll have to decide what format to use. Head-to-head, rotisserie or points.

Head-to-Head: Compete against a different team each week to win the most stat categories. Each win, loss or tie counts in the league standings.

Rotisserie: Teams are ranked from first to last in stat categories, and given points based on each ranking. The team with the most points at the end of the season wins the league.

Points: Stats equal points. Compete with the other teams in your league to finish with the most points over the entire season.

I'm leaning towards Rotisserie but Head-to-Head sounds fun too. I'd be ok just going straight points as well. A live draft doesn't take too long (there's about a minute time limit for each pick, which is adjustable to more or less time) The tricky part is coming up with a day and time that would work for everyone. We could also do an auto draft but I'd have to look into how that works. Basically you set up a preferred players list and set the order in which you would like them drafted or you can also flag them as 'do not draft'

I was thinking 2 Centers, 2 L Wings, 2 R Wings, 4 Defencemen, 2 Goaltenders, 6 Bench Players, 2 Injured reserve. I could add more players if preferred. Should trades be allowed?

For stats/scoring I was thinking:

Forwards:

Goals

Assists

Plus/Minus
Penalty Minutes (?)
Powerplay points
Shorthanded points
Shots on Goal (?)
Goaltenders:
Wins
Goals Against Average
Save Percentage
Shutouts
All of this is adjustable if anyone wanted something added or changed.
I just noticed that the yahoo fantasy hockey site runs 'Live Fantasy Hockey Mock Drafts' so that you can practice drafting or just learn how they work. I know I'll do it at least once because I'm pretty new to this myself.

is this going to be like a pool, where you actually pay in to play or just free fantasy hockey?

Thread title should have read hockey league instead of pool I guess. If I start an official thead I'll change it. I think we should have some kind of sign up fee and prize pool using mmatycoon money. We could copy the mmatycoon baseball league format and have a 50k sign up fee then the prize pool will depend how many people sign up. Once I know there are enough people interested I will set up a draft date. If there was anyone who couldn't make on draft day there is always the option to pre-rank as many players as they can and the league manager will auto draft for you.

Just so everyone is aware, the hockey season starts October 8th so draft date will most likely be sometime between now and Sept 30th. I already started setting up a league, if a few more people seem interested I'll post an official thread with all the info and ask Mike if he can post the info to the spoiler page to attract more people.

Right on man if 2 more say they are interested I'll kick it into second gear by posting an official thread and I'll also set up the league (probably head-to-head format on yahoo unless you guys tell me different) Hopefully we can get at least a couple more after that. 8-10 people would be ideal but 6 would work.

Well its not looking too promising. Not enough hockey fans visit the forums I guess. If anybody else shows interest before then end of the month I'll still set up a league but until we have at least 6 people I don't think its worth it. If there are only 6 people we can do a Rotisserie or Points league instead but if we can get up to 8 I'll make it a Head-to-Head league.
