interview with Carter Potter

OutbackMMA.com: This is Steeve Carwin from Outback MMA, watch this video at OutbackMMA.com. We're here introducing the 10th ranked heavyweight in the Outback, Carter Potter.

Carter Potter: G'day.

OutbackMMA.com: Gordon scored a takedown early but you looked really comfortable out there getting back to your feet, can you tell us how you felt going into that fight?

Carter Potter: Did a lotta spine bashing, so I was bright eyed and bushy tailed. I'm no pollie, I'm always ready for a good brawl in the backyard.

OutbackMMA.com: Since your loss to Ernesto Bonjasky you're performance has been top notch, what have you been doing differently?

Carter Potter: Ay mate to be dinki-di with you, Ernesto just made me look full as a boot. Real sloppy. He dinged me early, I was a few sandwiches short of a picnic and in the shit from there. Chris Karter.. my manager, he really cut me up after that fight. I don't spit the dummy, I train hard mate and I just go for broke, now I'm on a good lurk.

OutbackMMA.com: You really are finishing your last 3 fights stunningly in the first round, do you look forward to a rematch?

Carter Potter: Does a roo bounce in the oz? Of course.

OutbackMMA.com: How will you be approaching your rematch with the dutch native?

Carter Potter: First off I love me the dutch. La Kiwi placed in the cannibus cup last year, grouse string over there. Need to clone your ol' cheese, seeds from Amsterdam do the trick.

OutbackMMA.com: Interesting, avoiding the question and skipping the subject?

Carter Potter: Hahaha on ya mate. Nah I look forward to fighting for the title. I train hard, gonna play with the roo's til I'm used to gettin' kicked in the kisser.

OutbackMMA.com: Being a five round fight this time does it change your game plan any?

Carter Potter: Really hate to burst your bubble but it's not going down the road. If I wanted to be a wombat and lay on him for 5 rounds but that's not the game plan. I'm no squid I wanna stand and bang - I'd like to get em back y'know, go in there give em a few good shots to the noggin'. I owe him a couple haha. But once the bell rings it's an open slather in there, if he's on the ground I'll try to lay the hammer or take a limb off and keep it as a souvenior.

OutbackMMA.com: Ah so you wanna knock him out or submit him....

Carter Potter: All in good nature though, I'm not tryin' to earbash. Y'know if I don't I'll be on the wrong end of another good walloping.

OutbackMMA.com: How long do you think we'll be waiting before we see Potter vs Bonjasky 2?

Carter Potter: Not my call mate you'll have to ask Crystal Rose. I told my bluey manager to request a fight for tonights card, wanted to get another scrap in before a rematch. I'm in no rush so I'm ready whenever he is. It's nothin' personal - just business. I think that goes both ways. I could go a meal or a drink with the guy, I'd give him a shout at the pub y'know buy a few rounds of schooners. He's from Amsterdam, burn some ganja..

OutbackMMA.com: I get it, I think we all get it. Time to wrap it up, any sponsors you would like to mention?

Carter Potter: Bushido clothing, Syndicate Drugs, the whole crowd at Convicted Inc.

OutbackMMA.com: Carter I appreciate your time and as always it's been a pleasure.

Carter Potter: Hooroo mate, hooroo.

This episode of "Convicted UNCAGED" is a Chris Karter managed fighter video biography with special guest narrarator Steve Irwin taking you into Carter Potter's career with fight summarys, highlights, and interview clips brought to you by Ricky Cooper Convicted Inc

Carter "The Lion" Potter

"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeeps toniiiiiiight, uh weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

(

The beautiful music that Konflikt Down Under fans hear blasting from the surround sound system everytime Carter Potter enters the cage in Sydney, Australia. The 6'5" 259 pound fighter was born in Tauranga, New Zealand and is related to Mark Hunt, they're cousins. Carter is one of the most charismatic fighters in Sydney and by far one of the most exciting fighters in the whole Outback (all 10 of fights have had a 100% fight rating). His MMA record is 9-1 with 6 KO's and 3 submissions. He started his career off in Legacy after he won his QFC debut against Matt DeLap with a big right hand scoring a knockout in the 2nd round. He appeared on Legacy's first event ever on the undercard of Legacy 1: Inception where he got a TKO (strikes) victory over Dmitry Myshkin. He appeared on the Co-Main event at Legacy 5: Critical Strike, his opponent was 1-0 Amsterdam kickboxer Ernesto Bonjasky. Carter was knocked out by a brutal headkick 1:21 into the first round. After that loss he was a man on a mission winning his next two fights against Mei Dabest and Eddie Lavelle in a combined 57 seconds. He dominated them in similar fashion, dropping them to the canvas with a big punch and then show off his juijitsu submitting them with an armbar. In his next fight he put on an absolute clinic against Gordon Hood knocking him out 1:19 in round 1 finishing the fight with 100% punch accuracy. That 3 fight win streak was his road to redemption as he had earned a title shot against the only man who has ever defeated him, Ernesto Bonjasky. Carter's gameplan was obvious, use his size and get on top of Ernesto and work the ground and pound at all cost. Ernesto cut Potter up early and continued to punish Potter with thunderous kicks. It looked like a repeat of the first fight was about to happen as Ernesto dominated the stand up game for 5 rounds and put Carter Potter's chin on display. He took shot after shot and with 24 seconds in the 5th round Carter landed a big right hand that stunned Bonjasky and finished him off with a huge knee capturing the Legacy Heavyweight title and avenging his loss. At Legacy 31 he would defend his title against 6-0 John Hayes from Cappamore, Ireland. Carter landed every punch he threw knocking the Irish boxer out with an overhand right 1:45 in the 1st round. He compiled a record of 7-1 at Legacy and two title victories. After a long layoff from fighting and his contract ending with what was now Combat Pro Legacy, he signed with Konflikt Down Under. He made quick work of Robert Buddy in a slug fest at KDU 6 - THEENDOFTHEBEGINNING knocking Buddy out cold with a brutal combonation a minute into round 1. That KO earned him a main event title fight at KDU 12 - Night of Champions against South Auckland native Sione "Taro Legs" Latu. In the beginning of the round Carter had a flashback of the Bonjasky fight and was knocked down with a beautiful kick to the head. He managed to drag Latu to the ground with him, where he wouldn't hesitate to control the fight and slap on a beautiful armbar forcing Sione Latu to tap out! Winning Konflikt Down Under's Heavyweight championship. Carter "The Lion" Potter trains at Australian Top Team and continues to finish fights in style. Let's look back on Carter's famous interviews that have leaked on to MMA sites everywhere.

Owner and CEO Petro Farantini press conference after Carter Potter signed with Konflikt Down Under.

Reporter: "We are coming to you live from the Blaxland Ballroom in the luxurious Swissôtel Sydney to bring you more exciting news from Konflikt "Down Under".

We now will listen as Konflikt “Down Under” President and CEO, Petro Farantini, takes the podium to start the conference."

Petro: "Thank you fight fans and members of the media for attending today. The past few weeks have been very exciting times for all members of Konflikt “Down Under”. We have brought in some premiere talent with the signings of top level fighters such as JP "Jr." Greywar, Bill Pharoni, and many other monsters when the Warriors fight org closed down. But none of these signings hold the magnitude of what I am about to tell you. KDU is proud to announce our biggest signing to date, I would like to introduce you to none other than the nastiest man out of New Zealand, Carter "La Kiwi" Potter, managed by the infamous Chris Karter. Now those of you who are new will have to do a little homework, as Chris has been MIA for a bit, but those in the know are aware of the awesome level being brought by the leader of Convicted. After a brief hiatus,

*whispers* - I heard he was on a deserted island with Megan Fox for a couple months.

Chris has returned to the fight world to guide his warriors back to the top. I could go on and on at what this means for the Konflikt family, but I think it would sound better to hear it from the men themselves, Chris, “La Kiwi” come on up and say a few things to thesefine people"

Chris: "Appreciate it Mr. Farantini, been awhile since I've seen you I'm glad we could work somethin out. I know there's a lot of rumors out there bout me, but I aint here to address em so I'll keep it short and turn it over to Carter. It's good to be back in the game, refreshing, really good to become apart of Konflikt Down Under. I expect my fighters to get back into top notch condition, we were all jammed up in a lil sticky situation, but there's no excuses, they will be back and stronger then ever. Carter.."

Carter: "Ay mate good to have ya back. Been a real bludger without ya. My belly stands out like dog's balls with a pollie in the op shop. Real knocker on myself lately, ever since that lil incident I've been under the table, but I knew she'd be right again when you got back. I plan on gettin' in shape again soon, sooner then the day of tomorrow, up til yesterday I've been hittin' the turps. Big ol' beer gut now... get in my belly. Haha bloody hell. Great to be here, and it's gonna be a helluva time to get back in the cage and rodeo."

Petro: "As you can see we are getting stronger than ever. With the talented fighters already a part of Konflikt and the caliber of our new additions, we will continue to be a force on the Sydney High Street.

This Sunday the place to be is at the Underground Arena, where Chito Hua and Mackey Shane battle it out for the shot to face Gary Hudson for the Middleweight title. In the main event Captain Insano will show off his Excellent Muay Thai skills against BJJ specialist Johnny Liebling. The winner of this bout could be next in line for a shot at the Middleweight Belt currently held by Piston Honda. I would tell you to get tickets for this Sunday, but the show sold out only two hours after they went on sale last week.

Speaking of Piston Honda, he will be defending his title for the very first time against former champ, Domenic Amato on the 30th of this month. That’s right folks you heard it here first, a monster match to end the first month of our new beginning. This may also be the night you get to see Carter Potter in action, if anyone is man enough to step up and face him.

The year of 2010 will be the year of Konflikt in Sydney, with our brilliant founder, Paul Bradley, and our Konflikt team growing world wide, we will be dishing out the "Punishment" across the Tycoon Globe.

Thank you for your time today, we’ll see you at the fights"

(Petro, Chris, and Potter share a quick handshake and pose for a few pictures together before walking off the stage)

Reporter: "Well folks you heard it here first, some very exciting news out of Sydney. Stay tuned as we bring you all the action in and out of the ring, back to the studio……"

A fan favorite, we all want to know if he will he continue to be one of the most exciting fighters in this era and dominate the Outback or will an Outback Legend's career decline like the Canadian YB Sol? Only time will tell so stay tuned and pay close attention to Konflikt Down Under's Heavyweight Champion, Carter "The Lion" Potter.
