Ok so i guess this way before my time & ive no idea how it worked but i wonder if theres any hype for it to make a comback? Just putting it out there for a discussion

You are just posting for the sake of Spin & Win credits at this point.

Just like that other random dopeswhateverhisnameis was told: there are threads specific to generate you credits on the sections below without having you comment on every single thread and create thread after thread.

If you are really interested in the Olympics read about it, then find an org willing to bring your project forward and then maybe have the org owner start a thread.

Hmmm. This was actually something I was looking to do a while back. I was looking to do an org vs org battle where orgs put forth a couple fighters to rep them and have a tourney in that fashion

Aewsome another reg who thinks the idea is good. Another free spin for me lmao

The olympics were awesome, but it would be very difficult to set up again. There used to be about 4or5 elite orgs , plus 3 or 4 ID orgs that got the chance to fight in it as well.

In order to do this again, what would be great, you need all the top org owners to work together in harmony, so easier said than done.

When the olympics happened the last time, was the option there for loan a fighter? As I would think it would be much much much more easy to set up with that as an option...No longer would a fighter have to be released to sign with the hosting org....fighters stay where they are...get loaned out. Orgs agree on a start date and loan the fighters to them when that time comes around.

The loan option did not exist yet, so that would indeed make it easier.

I was part of the group that organized the original Olympics. There was multiple issues with this setup, the most obvious being that you had an unequal group of orgs. There was no way 8 top level orgs back then and even less now and the problem with that is:

#1 Lack of proper organization among the participant orgs.

#2 The lack of equal level of talent (hype and skills).

#3 A serious issue regarding rankings between fighters (putting the 8th ranked fighter vs the 1st ranked does not make sense as the #1 ranked fighter was often a top 50 level fighter and the 8th ranked was around 1000, the potential loss was a massive risk in such a case).

#4 There was a problem with divisions (not all orgs run 8 divisions)

#5 Not all orgs were willing to send their champs.

#6 There is also other issues such as orgs being at different development levels (average ages ect)

Is it possible to pull off? Maybe, but 100% it is not possible to have this between the top 8, maybe a top 3 or 4.

Something else can be done though to replace this format. Such as have a "legends" type format, in other words only older fighters (35y) with a minimum amount of fights in the org (5+ at least) and minimum rank (1000), can take place. Such a format is much less attractive, but gives old veterans something interesting to do.

Another option is to have a Org vs Org league running over a certain period (season). You can pit top ranking fighters of each orgs and the most wins during the period win. High ranking wins, will be worth more. This one is easier to do as many top level orgs already run Super fights, just they are undercover and not promoted. This will make those fights more interesting and give them more exposure.

Another option is to have a extravaganza type of event (something like a Wrestlemania / super event) run by one of the top 4 orgs every season. Basically a bunch of orgs (3-4) are invited and they compete during one event or over a series of events. There is no actual tourney as such, just and org vs org score over that period.

There are lots of options, just i think most people do not give a shit.

Olympics should be like TWGC tournaments, but run every 4 in game years or whatever cycle Olympics runs IRL. Should get trophies and all.

Now I bet that's a potential update Mike could get done with little to no resistance from the community.

I like this idea the best. 4 in game years - 1 real life year. Ideally this would be good if it took place once per year (December is the best, because the winner could be the main candidate for the fighter of the year as well). The top 16 ranked fighters get in automatically, but anyone can sign up, it would be good if people could see who is already signed up. Also, it would be good if the event happened at a faster pace (no injuries), one fight per week. Fights get a seed.

Ideally there should be a fixed winning pot made up by the game, the fighters who make it to the Bronze - Gold receive something + the orgs sending receive a cut. Maybe there should be an option where people can add to the existing winning pot's as well.

Anyway, i like this format for the Olympics the most as we can speed things up and it is centralized.

Great idea. Would also give the top fighters something extra to aspire towards. Kind of like the end of season Island tournament

This would be awesome, maybe limit it to only top ranked fighter somehow (top 500 p4p)? Only so top guys don't miss out if it fills up.

or have it open for whoever is interested to sign up, the highest ranking fighters on a fixed date automatically take up the spots.

I actually really like this 4 year idea like the real Olympics.

If I go ahead and propose it to Mike next time we at the pub or plumbing like its going outta stylez would GAMMA be game to host the Olympics?
