Kronix
Now days, none. In the early days or possibly on the island it had the effect that your fighter would increase popularity much quicker when he won and that in return ment more money in your pocket. Today this isn't worth much but in the early days cash was harder to come by so it mathered then. All you need to do now is simply ask nicely in the noob fund and you'll get more money than that very bad hidden boost would have ever given you. Uncheck that box quicker than... a zebra runing away from a lion.
Caleb613
It can get you plenty of cash and some big fights really, but it's nothing special since you won't win those fights if your not skillfull enough
Shards
When most people say that hype sells fights they actually referring to both hype and popularity(pop) since the system actually uses both. From what I can see when you're looking for how much hype your fighters brings to a fight it's actually based on '(hype+pop)/2' so the mean of your fighters hype and pop. Consider a fighter with hype of 100 signs to an org, if this fighter has 50 pop he's only going to bring averaged amount of 75 hype+pop to a fight but if he has 150 pop instead he'll be bringing 125 hype+pop to a fight. As above if your pop is too high your under skilled fighter might get pulled into the deep end too quickly but if you have a well trained fighter low pop can still cripple his value to an org.

Guest
being popular means orgs like you and may give you better deals....sometimes. Having higher hype on the other side, means orgs love you and other fighters want to fight you because they want your hype.
Guest
More pop = More total hype since total hype is pop+hype. It can help you secure better deals for the fighter and climb faster in the div roster of the org he is fighting. However, the downside is that he may fight opponents significantly better than him skill-wise. Just like McGregor.

Hype and pop are totally separate. on the orgs fighters list the sorting is based on the hype+pop value but it is also there for everyone to see where everybody stands on the p4p rankings. And it is based on the latter that money flows.... possible opponents will accept or not to fight with you based entirely on your ranking(which is based on hype, not pop)
theWHITEWOLF
Popularity makes org owners like you (i like popular guys) and I pay them more because more fans come to watch them cuz they are popular!!hope that explains!
GBK16
Pop is a tool used, just like Hype, when working out the Attendance of events. The more Hype and Pop you have, the more it fills seats, which means more income for the Org. From this, it means you will be more valuable to orgs and will get more pay from them. Rambo
Hello guys, Could you please explain me popularity thing? All I hear is hype sells tickets, all fighter ranks are hype dependable etc. So what is the point of popularity in this game? Popularity is completely useless. Unless you're an org owner, don't pay any attention to it, never select it, and forget that it exist in this game.
clydebankblitz
dammit, i asked you in pm some time ago and you couldn't explain it to me To be honest, even after reading everything above, I still couldn't explain it to you haha. I just know that popularity and hype in some combination results in tickets being sold. I believe these went up faster on The Island.
