Karate and Judo disciplines added into the game.

MMA is rapidly evolving and it feels as if just having the four disciplines seems a little out of date,

Karate could impact both punches and kicks. It obviously shouldn't have punches better than boxing or kicks better than Muay Thai, but maybe it could help with countering? Like Wonderboy and Machida?

Judo being completely clinch specific, for clinch takedowns and control, maybe providing a tiny little boost to submissions as well? Just an idea.

I think the idea of adding additional skills to the game is fantastic, in my view their should be so many skill path's that are viable that it's impossible due to skill cap that you go down all of the path's to keep the game constantly interesting build wise as opposed to the "one true path" most people follow given the current meta.

This is the idea I had in mind. I see most of the top fighters are basically 15's across the board. I think it is much more interesting to be basically forced to have weaknesses. Being a black-belt at everything is kind of silly.

The best thing to do in that situation is reset everyones fighters (edit: More likely provide a 2 month grace period for them to be re-allocated to avoid issues with booked fights etc), refund all skill points and allow them to re-allocate, it will cause short-term turmoil but it's the only real solution I can see to such a vast shake up if it was implemented.

Yup, yup, it's very good idea, but what about all fighters?

Add them all judo and karate usless skill?

And... If you think like this we must add tae kwondo, aikido, kung-fu and many moree...

Well, honestly I don't think adding it as useless would be that terrible of a thing because it would be terrible for everyone across the board, so no one would have an advantage. Think of it sorta like back when Machida stormed into the UFC, no one really had karate skill or trained it seriously until it. Mixed martial arts evolves in real life, so shouldn't it in MMA tycoon (a simulation game)?

Secondly, Kung-fu and aikido have no place in an MMA game. TKD and Sambo are really the only other two that would make sense to add, but you don't have to add them just because you add Judo and Karate. You could add the first two, then a few months, or a year down the line add TKD and Sambo too. Aren't we striving to make this the best game possible?

(If these were ever added, although they aren't in my original post or idea.)

TKD would provide extremely powerful and flashy single strike kicks. (Which might make Muay Thai more for kicks at the end of combinations.)

Sambo would be a well-rounded form of all grappling, both clinch, ground and submissions.

I appreciate the positive comments about my idea. I just started playing this game recently and am in-love, so I figured if I had an idea that could help make it even better, why not voice it?

  • 2 months later...

it's possible, add the sparring, add the primaries and make the sparring reflect on the secondary skills and physicals they're supposed to.

karate would reflect on punches (little less than boxing), striking defense (little more than everything else), kicks (little more than everything else), takedown defense (like 50% less than wrestling)

judo on clinchwork (more than everything), takedowns (little less than wreslting so the leverage is when in clinch), takedown defense (little less than wrestling), defense grappling (little less than bjj), submissions (same), transitions (same)

we can do the same for tkd, sambo and anything we want.

we just need to understand the martial arts and skills involved, like which areas they affect really.
