Alfred
http://mmatycoon.com/images/company_banners/1547786602RiseLongBanner.gif RISE Weekend Preview Rise 116 - 22nd November, Los Angeles Just the one title fight on the line this weekend as UberThor Hammerfall attempts his seventh defence in a row against old foe Jorge “The Collossus” Cruz Jr. The last time these two fighters met was back in July and Hammerfall managed to put Cruz away inside three rounds. Up to that point however, Cruz was looking very good indeed with most judges having him ahead during both rounds. Still, the power of Hammerfall was always obvious and never more so inside the clinch were most of the damage was done. That fight was Cruz’s first and only shot ever at a title but since then he doesn’t seem to have been deterred at all having gotten straight back to the grind and racked up a run of four wins in a row and it is that form that has earned him his second chance at glory. For those wondering if Cruz is merely more fodder for Hammerfall to fell then you would really have to look at those last four fights of his to see that Cruz means business. Two of them in particular really stand out to back up this claim. Firstly a tough decision win over Hammerfall’s training partner and current #2 ranked RISE heavyweight Massive Overflow showed that Cruz could work inside the clinch and secondly a spectacular second round KO over former Budokai champion Ross Kemp in his last fight really put an exclamation point on his title challenge. This isn’t to say that Cruz will be gong in as favourite however. Cruz will still be a heavy underdog to Hammerfall’s destructive power but the point is that he has improved from their first bout and definitely has what it takes to be a champion. Whether that will be here and now though remains to be seen. Champion UberThor Hammerfall hasn’t exactly been slacking either since their last meeting. In fact, if it is even possible, Hammerfall has looked even more terrifying having made a further three defences and winning all by some form of stoppage. His last fight was possibly the most impressive for a while when he battered Mario Farina into submission during the forth round. A bout that took place just after both fighters had been entered into the RISE Hall of Fame against a former champion who had never lost his belt and a result that made it abundantly clear just who was the real top dog in the RISE heavyweight division. It’s clear that Hammerfall is the favourite here and for good reason. He is an established star in the division and currently ranked #4 in his weight in the tycoonsphere and #23 p4p overall and all after having gotten his start as an Island project. Cruz has to be considered a threat though. Despite their previous result, Cruz has been improving constantly and has a few very slight advantages in certain key areas. The ground is where the biggest gap exists between them but it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see these two engaging in any submission wrestling in this one. The most likely results would be a KO for Hammerfall anytime from the third onward or Cruz snatching a decision win after five rounds. Elsewhere in the division, the next challenger would likely be Fedor Emelianegro who made his return to RISE last month after a brief period away. Though his return didn’t go quite to plan when he lost to Massive Overflow he has moved back up to #3 in the rankings after a big win against Mario Farina recently. At #4 and #5 respectively, Samuel Nti and Ross Kemp need to do some work before they would be considered to be in the title picture. Both on two fight losing streaks at the moment. Nti has just moved up from the light-heavyweight division after a career as a marquee fighter in Budokai’s Open Weight division. Nti got his start in MMA as a 25 year LoL tournament fighter so is quite far behind the rest of the pack. Kemp arrived as Budokai champion and has so far has some disappointing results. #6 Felix Inarritu has also arrived after the closure of Budokai and is also a former champion there. Inarritu has had one fight here so far and looked very good, winning by KO in the first against Franck Kodija. Managed by current #2 manager Action Jackson, he is one likely worth watching. #7 Mario Farina is currently a free agent but is likely to be picked up very soon. #8 is Inspektor Bee who is currently on a run of three wins. Bee is a trio of fighters from the same camp currently doing well in the heavyweight division and is managed by Forfiter elPolako. #9 is Heavy HeavyWeight who is in decent form having won 3 out of his last 5. HeavyWeight is well hyped fighter with a solid fan base so would only be a win or two over a ranked opponent away from a title shot. Lastly at #10 is Samson Fortier. Fortier has been extremely inconstant and unable to put together any real run of form. This has definitely cost him in the rankings but managed by a former #1 manager Freako Wimp, you have to imagine that a run somewhere down the line is on the cards.

Snowdon looked to be a class apart on the ground but not before opponent Woody Wood gave him something to remember early in the first when a big knockdown left him with a nasty cut. One of the most anticipated match ups of the tournament saw former Budokai legend Bader Bull attempting one last shot at glory before father time became too much of an obstacle. Also asked for the 145 champ - heard nothing from the org. Leaving the org, clearly not valued. If that's true Stoddler should be stripped and banished. As the champ he needs to fight whoever the next challenger is and after a very brief look it would seem that Valdez would be the next logical number one. As for the org, I could see the writing was on the wall when one of the last events only had one fight on it. I know shit happens and inactives can really put a strain on matchmaking but that's just plain neglect.

Shards
I've been hopeful that Bapp would be in line for a title shot soon, instead his last couple offers have been vs guys in the 1200 p4p range. I accepted the first one to fill a short notice fight with new ownership but declined the second recently. I sent a message that seemed to be taken well, I assumed the matchmaker is still learning and he was trying to meet my low desired inactivity with anyone he had on hand so it's a shame to hear there's other issues. There being few fights booked right now could have something to do with the holidays, I understand to some degree things fall apart but not a good excuse to full stop, it's an online game so some effort does still need to be put in and if the current owner is interested in running things I think it's important to get back on the ball soon. I don't think it's too far gone to salvage, I'd resign regardless if I think someone is putting in the effort to learn and I can still get good fights.
