Duel Fight League smack talk thread

Recommended Posts

After a record-setting birth as a Fight Organization, Duel Fight League has become the home for the most exciting bouts. The curse to being a part of one of the most successful fight leagues in world has its challenges. DFL already owns the title for most entertaining and brutal fights, how do we keep our legacy and trail burning bright.

Ladies, gentlemen, fighters and managers alike may I proudly introduce Duel Fight Leagues' very own Smack Talk Thread! This a place where our fighters can sling a little dirt at their opponents face. Maybe call for a title shot or two. Let the world what you think of your up and coming fight or even the outcome of one you just had.

Don't hold back, let it rip! Nothing racist, we may be Warriors but we still have class.

DUEL#17 Myles vs Hunter 2

Grey Worm versus Azadshatru Singh

With the pressure of coming off of mult-fight losing streak, both of these Warriors felt the pressure of needing the victory. Singh showed his fight experience by sprawling 12 out of 13 takedown attempts by Worm. Once Worm scored the takedown he was able to put his Black Belt Jujitsu skills on display. With Careful transitions within the second round he was able to Tangle his opponents limb and locked up a Kimura.
**** Grey Worm: R2 Submission (Kimura) ****

Nir Sosa versus Sparring Fighter 1

As predicted, this fight was on of the top bouts of the night. Both men went toe to toe using every tool within their arsenal to try and defeat each other. Neither men can go home and say that they did not do everything in their power to win, they left it all in the cage and the fans are appreciative. Sosa was able to neutralize Fighter 1 more, using his experience as a MMA veteran.
**** Nir Sosa: Unanimous Decision ****

Parker Phoenix versus Takashi Kadota

Wow! is all I can say to describe this bout. DFL newcomer Phoenix can really stand and bang! Takishi Kadota came into this fight thinking he would welcome the newly signed fighter by embarrassingly beating him at his own strength. Avoiding the ground, both fight stood toe to toe for the majority of the competition. Man-oh-man, can Phoenix really put on a display of superior striking. When it was all said and done, Phoenix landed 28 significant head strikes compared to his opponents 2.
**** Parker Phoenix: Unanimous Decision

Bobby Tupper versus Rahkim Abdullah

Though he scored eight successful takedowns, Rahkim Abdullah had a tough night against veteran Bobby Tupper. Bobby was able to scramble back to his feet after hitting the mat and wear his opponent down. By the third round, Abdullah was too tired to shoot and stood with the experienced striker. The excellent game plan implemented by Tupper's Coaches, was nothing less then pure genius.
**** Bobby Tupper: Unanimous Decision ****

Amir Lohan versus Jarni Kutsoo

Ladies and Gentlemen, this match up right here is the purest example of 'believe in yourself'. Kutsoo, as many of you fight fans know, is probably one of the best BJJ Black Belts in the World. His skill set completely eclipsed his challenger Amir Lohan. Or so we thought. Lohan walked into the cage, forced the Black Belt to the mat and submitted him in under 40 seconds. Yeah you heard it correctly, the Brown Belt submitted the World Famous Black Belt in under 40 seconds. Message received Amir Lohan, we heard you loud and clear.
**** AMir Lohan: R1 Submission (Triangle) ****

Steve Pick versus Slade Wilson

Slade Wilson didn't look like his normal self coming into this bout. He was completely out-matched by the Submission Expert, finding himself in one bad position after another. Steve Pick was able to finish his opponent. What left a bad taste in the fans' mouths was what was said by Slade Wilson after the bout. Wilson admitted to fighting on multiple injuries that made his performance lack serious desire.
**** Steve Pick: R1 KO (Punches) ****

Lyon Gaultier versus Dominic Tattum

If we were to score the fight ourselves, we would see an extremely lopsided fight. Lyon Gaultier was able to land 65 overall strikes flush on opponent Dominic Tattum, who only found success with 13 strikes landing. Gaultier was able to dominate this very dangerous opponent proving to DFL that he may be ready for Gold.
**** Lyon Gaultier: Unanimous Decision ****

Edwin Jordan versus Rashad Wilkinson

This fight I believe should have hit the Judges table, it could have gone either way if it had. Not many fans had not shown great interest in this match-up initially, but once the bell sounded their eyes were glued. Such a back-and-forth battle between these two veteran made for great entertainment. Their was Boxing, Wrestling, Jujitsu, Muay Thai; I mean this fight had it all. Towards the end Jordan did find success in his ground and pound, especially with the elbow that became the beginning of the end. I agree with many of the fans when they say that everyone believes it was stopped too early. This should have went the distance!
**** Edwin Jordan: R3 TKO (Strikes)

Tommy Mayor versus Rafael Cortez

Cortez was outclassed on his feet in this bout by Tommy Mayor. Not because he isn't as good, but because he suffered a nasty cut from a right hand almost immediately. Only seconds later Tommy Mayor was able to open the cut up more, rendering his dangerous opponent nearly blind. Even when Cortez was knocked down; he was willing to take the fight to the mat where he could make up some of the points lost and get his injury doctored in between rounds. Mayor signaled the referee to stand his opponent. The next strike landed its way into the record book as one of the most brutal head kicks I've seen in years.
**** Tommy Mayor: R1 KO (Head kick)

Justin Hunter versus Darren Myles

I think that it is officially been settled. WE HAVE A NEW LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION! Justin Hunter takes the Title back home and puts it back above his mantle where it previously proudly hung. Justin may have talked a lot of trash prior to this event but he backed up every word. Only thing left is a rubber match. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
**** Justin Hunter: R1 Submission (Guillotine) **** NEW LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION

I don't know if y'all are hearing what I'm saying. Ghostface Killa is a monster. Right now his sights are set on Woodrow Black, but you all better be watching. He's here to hurt people, and if you get that contract with his name at the top, it's your ass. And sooner or later, he's cleaning out the whole heavyweight division. This guys a heavyweight who moves like a middleweight and hits like yo daddy when he was drunk and you got sassy. Don't believe me? Just watch.

DFN #18 Dementia vs Fanning Preview By Humble Greco - Sponsored By Zenith Nutrition(160q/225$)

MAIN EVENT

"Punchy" Pugilistic Dementia(12-3) v Sanford Fanning(19-9) - Light Heavyweight Bout

Our main event for tonight has two very dangerous light heavyweights going at it for the first time. Both men are

near the top of their division and we could see either one of them going for the title soon. Fanning has been

champ at DUEL once before, winning the title by submission (his first and only submission), which caught everyone

by surprise, for at that time, he had only 12 wins via T(KO) (Now 17). Dementia likes to finish in a very similar

fashion, for at the moment he has achieved 12 knockout victories. Looks like that dementia isn't holding him

back. Why is he in MMA? Ah nevermind...Fanning could need to make his second submission victory happen on the

ground because they are pretty evenly matched in the stand up, and that black belt Fanning has could be what settles

this one...

CO-MAIN EVENT

Miro Bang(19-14) v Rodney Garcia(25-15-1) - Light Heavyweight Bout

We have two black belts fighting it out in our co-main event tonight! Both are pretty evenly matched all around and

have proved to be DEADLY on the ground with devestating submissions! Both men have 31 submission victories combined

and we know that this one will most likely finish on the ground given their styles. Which fighter will get a taste

of their own medicine?

MAIN CARD

"The Furious Fustigator" Brandon Vee(9-3) v Quetzal Montezuma(6-5) - Heavyweight Bout

Our final fight on the main card is a heavyweight bout between Brandon Vee and Quetzal Montezuma. These two elite

fighters have proven their worth in the MMA world and having this match on the card is a blessing by itself!

Montezuma has a Brown Belt compared to Vee's Purple Belt AND has the reach advantage. These will play major factors

in the fight and may carry Montezuma to a win. Let's hope this one lives up to the hype!

Viktor "Bear" Grishin(6-5) v Pedro Rodrigues "Pedrinho Matador" Filho(6-1) - Light Heavyweight Bout

Up next we have Viktor Grishin versus Pedro Rodrigues Filho. Grishin is a Black Belt and should be looking to

utilize that in this matchup. Filho will mostly want to keep this one standing and look to get a lucky knockout.

A four victory winning streak will end today for one of these men. Who will it be?

Gustaf "Gusten" Stenbeck(11-4) v "Superbad" Fagell McLovin(5-0) - Middleweight Bout

With a combined 15 knockouts in a total of 16 victories, Stenbeck and McLovin have both shined in the stand-up.

I have high hopes that this one will be an absoloute slugfest and carry on into later rounds, but both are not shy

to finishing fights early. Let's find out who catches who first!

"The Marvelous" Marv Miller(8-6) v Frank Dux(13-15) - Light Heavyweight Bout

Our first fight on the main event should showcase a fairly one-sided fight. Dux seems like a true underdog coming

into this fight, as they are both pretty similar in the stand-up, but Miller is a BJJ Brown Belt while Dux has

only obtained a Blue Belt. If Miller is able to get this one to the ground, this one could be over quick. Let's see

if Dux can defy the odds.

DFN #19 Paquette vs Von Ketler Preview By Humble Greco - Sponsored By Zenith Nutrition(160q/225$)

MAIN EVENT

Odell Paquette(24-15-1) v Eskem "Helter Skelter" Von Ketler(10-3) - Bantamweight Bout

Our main event for tonight showcases Odell Paquette versus Eskem Von Ketler. Odell Paquette proved that he can be

a MONSTER in the stand up if he really wanted to, and for that reason, I would not be surprised if Ketler took

his black belt and himself down to the ground with Paquette. 70% of Ketler's victories have been by submission

and he'll be looking to get another one of those today. Let's see if Paquette can keep this one standing or

surprise us all and finish this one on the ground.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Bang Pitung(10-2) v Alexander Quin(7-2) - Lightweight Bout

In our co-main event we have two still up and coming men that been sensational in other orgs and QFC bouts. Now

that they have both brought their talents to DUEL, they'll both be looking to continue their impressive runs as

fighters. I can't really seperate these too and for that reason I am even more excited to see how this one finishes!

MAIN CARD

Khan "The Can Crusher" Krooshur(5-0) v William "Bill" Ritchey(6-0) - Heavyweight Bout

Our last bout on the main card sequences a stand up fighter versus a ground fighter. Krooshur has five victories

by knockout while Ritchey holds 5 submission victories. It's obvious that if Krooshur keeps this one standing than

there is no doubt that he should take this one, but if Ritchey manages to scores a takedown on Krooshur than we won't

need a crystal ball to see how this one could finish. Let's see who is able to keep the fight where they want it.

Kelvin Pouncey(21-20-2) v "The Killer Klown" John Wayne Gracie(10-4) - Heavyweight Bout

Next up we have MMA veteran, Kellvin Pouncey, squaring up against DUEL veteran, John Wayne Gracie. This fight will

be Gracie's 10th fight with DUEL and Pouncey's 44th fight in the MMA! There are rumours that Gracie could be trying

to finally retire Pouncey. Not sure if true, but Gracie DOES have that serial killer instinct as we all know...but

this gets us all wondering if this is Pouncey's last run in his career or if he's still got a lot left in the tank!

Larry "The Dill" Cucumber(8-7) v Haywood "Honey" Badger(20-11) - Bantamweight Bout

Our second fight on the main card could show an absoloute murder if it goes how I think it should. Badger could

finish this one on the ground with his black belt or could keep this one standing and eat as many punches as he

wants with that granite chin of his. Cucumber is the HUGE underdog in this bout. I don't think that he's going to

be able to handle Badger wherever this fight goes, but there have been upsets like this before and let's see if

Cucumber can make another one happen!

James Pearson(4-1) v Bubba Johnson(5-1) - Super Heavyweight Bout

First up on the main card we are blessed with being able to see two young prospects go head to head to prove their

worth. Johnson will want to get this fight to ground from the opening bell, for his BJJ might just be too good

compared to Pearson's ability on the ground. Pearson could knock out Johnson before the fight even gets to the

ground, however. Win or lose though, these two will shine in the future, I've got no doubt about that...

DFN 20 Adelhard vs Eluard Preview By Humble Greco - Sponsored By Zenith Nutrition(160/225q)

MAIN EVENT

"The Raven" Bertram Adelhard(7-3) v Martinez Eluard(19-15-2) - Welterweight Bout

For our main event tonight we have elite boxer, Bertram Adelheard, up against black belt, Martinez Eluard. This

is Eluard's debut for Duel and he will be trying to impress. He has not been doing well elsewhere, as he's just

come off of a 4 fight losing streak. A win here should definitely get him back into gear. Adelhard, on the other

hand, will move his WINNING streak to 4 with a win here. He's gotta be as confident as ever heading into this

fight, and we can imagine he'll be looking for his 5th (T)KO victory.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Geese "The Boss" Fury(13-10) v Christopher Webb(13-4-1) - Light Heavyweight Bout

Our co-main event for the night has two fit fighters who shine when it comes to (T)KOs. With a combined 21 (T)KOs

in the MMA, you can imagine that there will be another one added tonight. Fury's reach advantage could play a

huge factor though, as Webb will need to be play his cards right against that. Could be a classic slugfest if both

men come in with the right mentalities. Let's hope for one!

MAIN CARD

Grisha "The Dragon" Kamenov(11-7-2) v Maddox "Hitman" Wood(6-4) - Light Heavyweight Bout

Our final fight on the main card should be a predictable one as Grisha Kamenov is the better fighter overall in

everybody's eyes. But let's not count Maddox Wood out as he has the determination to win him this fight. If we're

talking about heart than Wood would definitely be in the picture. Let's see if that heart of his can withstand

Kamenov.

"La Messiah" Jesus St Pierre(5-5) v Algot Uggla(12-12) - Lightweight Bout

Next up we have two even matched fighter ready to show who the better fighter is. St Pierre is just noticeably better

When it comes to the stand up and may want to use that to his advantage. Uggla should look to get his 10th submission

victory tonight because of this. A win here would bring the winner to a positive record which would be a big morale

boost and could spark something for the fighter. Let's find out who wants it more!

"I am" Evan Better(25-21) v Jakub "Puck" Nowak(6-0) - Middleweight Bout

Second on the main card we have veteran Evan Better vs undefeated Jakub Nowak. Jakub Nowak is really putting his

abilities to the test and his record at risk facing off against Evan Better. Nobody has been able to stop Nowak

so far and if anybody can do it, it's Evan Better. A lot of people may thing that Nowak is crazy for accepting a

fight like this, but win or lose, you've gotta respect the kid.

Brutus Kowalski(12-5) v Bilabong "DaddyCool" Conrad(14-12) - Light Heavyweight Bout

Our first bout on the main card has Brutus Kowalski facing off against Bilabond Conrad. Conrad's experience as a

fighter should give him the edge in this bout, but Kowalski's impressive record and wins against fighters he was

expected to lose to may say otherwise. This should be a good fight and I am excited to see how this one turns out.

Duel 92 Muller vs Eirickson Preview By Humble Greco - Sponsored By Zenith Nutrition

MAIN EVENT

©Nicolas "Cash" Muller(15-9) v Leif Eirikson(12-9) - Super Heavyweight TITLE BOUT

Our main event for tonight is a super heavyweight title bout. This is the battle of the titans and this fight

has the potential to be an instant-classic. Muller recently regained his title at Duel 89. Muller has never

successfully defended his title before and will be trying to hold on to it for as long possible. This is

Eirikson's first chance at wearing the gold and should look to take full advantage of his oppurtunity. Can Muller

finally defend the gold? Or will Eirikson capture it in his first attempt for it?

CO-MAIN EVENT

Serge "Two Guns" Ibaka(36-9) v Kame Sennin "Muten Roshi"(21-5) - Bantamweight Bout

Serge Ibaka and Kame Sennin will go toe to toe in our co-main event for tonight. This one doesn't have to be a

title fight to headline an event with multiple hyped title fights in it. Ibaka has reached the top 100 Pound for

Pound in his career before and has a total of 26 (T)KOs. Sennin was the highest ranked fighter in the Island and

was the runner up in the end of season tournament. This truly is gonna be a battle between 2 ANIMALS in the cage

and I can't wait to see it!

MAIN CARD

Eric "BraiNiac" Staal(10-3-1) v ©Albert Hoffman(20-17) - Middleweight TITLE BOUT

Our final bout on the main card is a Middleweight Title Fight with champion Albert Hoffman going against challenger

Eric Staal. This is Albert Hoffman's first title defense after beating Andre Haack for the title at Duel 89. I'm

excited to see how he does under the pressure as champion. He has an immidiate test of his abilities with a

challenger like Staal, who has had excellent training at a young age and has been built to be a champion! Let's

see if Hoffman can walk away with the title again.

©Gracie Allen(23-16-1) v Head Coach(25-15-3) - Lightweight TITLE BOUT

Next up, we have Lightweight Champion Gracie Allen defending his belt against the challenger Head Coach. Both men

are world class boxers and like to finish in the stand-up so we should have high expectations for this fight. This

is Allen's first title defense at Duel and if he wants to be a dominant champion in the lightweight division,

he'll need to win tonight at all costs. Coach has gotten two title oppurtunities elsewhere and has failed both

times. Will he finally capture gold? Or will it just be the same old story?

Butch Hoffman(11-5) v Dave "Laddington Bear" Ysengrin(30-9) - Heavyweight Bout

Second on the main card we have 2 elite fighters in Butch Hoffman and Dave Ysengrin going head to head. Ysengrin

has quite the reputation for reaching 30 wins in his career and winning 29 of them by (T)KO. Hoffman should be

worried about that and maywant to take his brown belt in BJJ and score his first submission victory. We should

expect a show from these 2 warriors, no doubt about that. Win or lose, we should expect fantastic careers from

both men.

Antero "Sweet Jesus!" Rokka(38-26) v Sandayu Momochi(12-9) - Middleweight Bout

First up on our main card, we have veteran Antero Rokka versus impressing Sandayu Momochi. Antero Rokka has racked

up a total of 14 "Fight of the Night" awards over his long and impressive career. He's scored 24 (T)KOs over his

career as well. Momochi seems to prefer finishing fights differently as he's gotten 11 total submission victories

so far in his career. Because of how dangerous Rokka is in the stand-up, Momochi has to be looking for yet another

submission victory. Let's see if he can do it.

DUEL 141: Chigg Vs. Denke

31 March 2018

Empire Indoor Arena

MAIN EVENT

Welterweight Title Fight

(22-6-1) Maya Chigg vs. Karl Denke (20-10)

For the main event we will have the welterweight champion Maya Chigg going against Karl Denke. This fight will be sure to excite fans and well worth the money to see. Chigg has been on a ten fight win streak and to have a streak going like that with the competition he has is a testament of his abilities in the cage. His opponent Denke is relatively new to the DFL only having three fights in the organization. But not a single one of them has went passed the first round, ending all three of his opponents by his heavy hands. In a side by side comparison both of these fighters look fairly even. The only slight edge is given to the champion due to his superior Muay Thai skills. With that being said. Will the Champion Chigg be able to keep his belt for his third title defense? Or will the rising star end the champion in the first round just like his last three opponents.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Light Heavyweight Title Fight

Kevin Garbutt (18-8) vs. Rama Arjuna (21-7)

For the co-main event we will have the light heavyweight championship title fight. The champion Rama Arjuna a seasoned veteran of the organization will be going against Kevin Garbutt who will be debuting for his fight at DFN. Rama Arjuna with the record of 21-7 has been on a warpath of late with a eight fight win streak and first successful title defense he has been on a career high. His opponent Kevin Garbutt will be coming into this organization with a record of 18-8 and back to back wins via TKO's. In a side by side comparison Arjuna has a slight lead standing up but if it goes to the ground Garbutt has a major advantage. This wouldn't be the first time Arjuna has faced a black belt and He'll probably do as he did all the others and destroy them.

Main Card

Super Heavyweight Fight

Nicolas "cash" Muller (20-11)vs. John Wayne Gracie "The Killer Clown" (14-6)

For the first fight of the main card we will have the previous super heavyweight champion Muller facing off against Gracie.

Muller is coming off a devastating knockout loss that saw him lose his title to the now champion Leif Erickson. Losing in the first round while being the champion can be very demoralizing. So hopefully he can pick himself back up and be able to put on his game face for this fight. His opponent Gracie with a record of 14-6 Is coming into this fight after a win by TKO. He hasn't had a solid win streak since the beginning of his career but don't let that fool you he is a very talented fighter. With another side by side comparison Muller has a very slight advantage in the stand up side of the fight. While Gracie being somewhat related to the Gracies in a bastard kind of way gives him quite the advantage in the ground game. In this fight it really comes down to who can work their game plan over the other.

Light Heavyweight Fight

Miro Bang (23-17) vs. Geese Fury (20-12) (II)

Eventually in every fighters career they will meet someone again in the cage. And for these two, that night will be on the 31st. The Last time these two met Miro Bang pulled a win over fury via a kimura. But a lot has changed since then for a brief moment in time Fury was actually the light heavyweight champion. Which Miro Bang has never achieved since signing up for the DFL. Miro did get a title shot in his last match but lost to the current champion in a split decision that saw him dominate two out of the five rounds. While fury lost his title to the same fighter by a Knock out punch. With a side by side comparison (as I always do) Miro has the edge if the fight were to the ground if it stays standing they are fairly well matched with a slight nod going towards Geese Fury.

Light Heavyweight Fight

Mike Snow (16-7)Vs. Emet Golem (13-14) (II)

These two fighters haven't had much going for them as late. Neither of these fighters have put a serious set of wins together. With Mike Snow coming into this fight with a three fight losing streak all of them knockouts. One of those losses came from his opponent Emet Golem who finished Mike Snow with a flurry of strikes right before the third minute of the first round.

When comparing these two fighters Golem has the advantage and will most likely secure another to victory.

Welterweight fight

The Sigit (31-20-2) vs. Paul Maul (26-21)

In this match you have The Sigit, and yes his first name is: The. Pretty much the biggest deal since birth. As I was saying... The Sigit with a record of 31-20 Will be facing Paul Maul 26-21. Both of these fighters are coming off of wins in their last fights so they will be coming in with a little bit more confidence then their last fights unfortunately one of them is going to take that capital "L"

Review of the fighters Mual has the advantage if the fighters stay on their feets. But with Sigits better wrestling and grappling He'll most likely be able to control the fight.

UNDERCARD

Lightweight Fight

Sergei Babakov (12-4) vs. Tommy Shelby (11-7)

This will be one of the many rematches tonight. Last time these two met Babakov finished Shelby by the way of a TKO. And with back to back wins Babakov is probably feeling extremely confident coming into this fight. It didn't take much for Shelby to get back on the path coming into this fight with a win over Peter Smith. Knowing they have fought before you'd think that Babkov will win again. He very well could, but time and time again people can come back and claim victories against previous losses. Babakov demonstrating in his last fight, has the advantage with his heavy hands. Shelby will have the advantage in the grappling side of the fight. If Shelby can get a takedown and keep him down we could very well see him get his redemption.

Lightweight Fight

Wang Qiang (9-2-1) vs. Andre Soares (17-11)

Qiang has been on a tear since he left his birthplace of Budayaun, China. With a record of 9-2-1 he's been nothing short of impressive and at the age of 22 he's got so much more to accomplish. Since signing up for the DFL, he's been an impressive fighter and will give his opponent Soares a run for his money. Soares is the veteran fighter at the age of 30 his record stands 17-11. His debut match for DFL was his last fight, he won via TKO in the first round. On paper Soares is the favorite to win, but this wouldn't be the first time Qiang defeated a much better opponent so I believe he has some hidden talent and a good manager to thank for that.

Lightweight fight

Gracie Allen ( 27-20-1) vs. Lukas Hanak (28-14-1)

I feel like I may have been throwing around the term "Veteran" a little too loosely. For both of these fighters are nearing fifty total fights each. Hanak last stint in the DFL he was undefeated and was a champion in the welterweight division, he continued his good form in the next organization he joined by going undefeated in Ascension. He has recently dropped weight and is fighting in the lightweight division. His opponent Gracie Allen has also had two stints in the DFL and was also a former lightweight champion. He just hasn't been able to hold a solid win streak and it might be that his best years are over but at the age of 34 he still has some fight left him.

DUEL #142 Montezuma vs. Vee

On Saturday, 31st of March 2018, The Duel Fighting League will be live at Madison Square Garden, New York. Bringing you the Heavyweight Title Fight, and much, much more! Brought to you by Sin City Allstars based out of Las Vegas, don't be afraid to stop on by and get some of the best nutrition a fighter can get!

Main event

Heavyweight Title Bout

Quetzal Montezuma (13-6) vs. Brandon Vee (17-3)

Here it is folks a rematch I've personally been waiting for, a huge fight with some heavy dudes facing off for the title. Quetzal Montezuma the current heavyweight champion will be going head to head with the only man that has beat him since he signed his contract for the DFL. The craziest thing about this, is the fact that Brandon Vee beat him by TKO strikes on Montezumas debut match. Now, I can't really figure out how Brandon Vee has never had even a title shot since signing up but the man is undefeated with multiple fight of the night honors! Back to the champion, Montezuma is a beast of a man, ever since he lost to Vee, the guy has been on a path of destruction, destroying every man who even thought himself on the same level. Not one fight of Montezumas DFL career has went the distant he has ended every opponent via KO or TKO.

Breakdown of the fight: These two fighters are evenly matched in the stand up and the wrestling. The only difference is Montezuma holds a brown belt in BJJ, while his opponent Vee only has a purple. But that didn't stop Vee last time they fought by ending Montezuma with strikes. Could we see Montezumas redemption and another defense of his title. Or shall we see Vee get what he deserves, The Heavyweight title!

Co-main Event

Light Heavyweight Bout

Samuel Kravac (14-8) vs. Cleon Wright (18-6)

For the co-main event DFL will be bringing you Samuel Kravac a man with two fights with the DFL under his belt, the first a loss by decision, and the second a win by decision. A black belt in BJJ he will be hoping to bring his opponent Wright down where with his twelve submission victories he will be sure to win the fight. Cleon Wright had a rocky start to his DFL career losing two back to back, but in the last three matches all victories and his last fight a KO of the night victory it seems he has found his way again. In his career he has proven to be a dangerous man with his sensational boxing knocking out at least twelve of his eighteen opponents. If Samuel Kavac wants to win this fight He'll need to be able to weather the storm that is Wright and get a takedown where he will then be able to work his game plan.

Main Card

Light Heavyweight Fight

Mario Barrera (19-5-1) vs. Darth Sidious (22-15)

This will be Mario Barrera's debut match for DFL. Formally he was with the London based Underground fight organization. During his fourteen fight stay there he went 11-3. Now He'll be looking for greener pastures here in New York's #1 fight org. His opponent Darth Sidious has been in the DFL for about five fights now but he's only won a single fight. By now I'm pretty sure he will be looking to turn his career around.

Breakdown: Mario Barrera unfortunately is the all around better fight leading in every aspect of the fight. Although not by much.

Heavyweight Fight

Daniel Crushman ( 19-10-1) vs. Barney Rumble (11-3)

This will be Daniel Crushman's debut fight after recently leaving Gamma after thirteen fights with them. When showing up to a new org fighters are going to try their best to make great first impressions for their new fans. Which will make this fight very entertaining. His opponent Barney Rumble made his debut fight against the current heavyweight champion and he lost due to a TKO. Now you may see his record and think inexpierenced but Barney Rumble had a stint in a kickboxing career where he went 8-3 before he made his jump into MMA.

The Breakdown: The stand up is even, Rumble has superior wrestling, but Crushman has the black belt in BJJ.

Middleweight Bout

Terry Bogard (9-1) vs. Dick Army (24-15-1)

Unfortunately for Terry Bogard he'll be going against a living legend a man with 3x the experience that Bogard does. Although Bogard doesn't have a lot of fights under his belt his first MMA match was back in the middle of 2015. It's surprising because the lack of fights he has. His opponent Dick Army though has been around since the middle of 2014. And has the record that could show it. What's interesting about Army's career he started it in Kickboxing even going 8-1 before he made his way into MMA. After starting an MMA career he went into Powers fighting championship before he finally made it to DFL. And since being in the DFL he has been the champion twice.

The breakdown:it's relatively close but unfortunately for Bogard, Army carries the advantage.

Welterweight Bout

Peter Angelov (19-14-1) vs. Cuba Moretti (8-4-1)

Both of these fighters are coming into this fight with three fights in the DFL and so far both are undefeated. Peter Angelov debut fight for DFL was a victory by unanimous decision. His last two fights he won them both by TOO. His opponent Cuba Moretti is currently on a five fight win streak and his three fights with the DFL were all ended by TKO in the first round. So both of these fighters are fairly new but since joining have created a massive reputation. Unfortunately as with all fights someone's going to lose their streak.

Breakdown: both fighters have sensational stand up abilities but there in separate disciplines. Moretti the boxer with superior wrestling, Angelov the Muay Thai fighter with superior BJJ. This fight is truly hard to call, but definitely a match I want to see.

Heavyweight Bout

Roger Tiddlywinks (17-10) vs. Fifth Fist (20-9)

Roger Tiddlywink has a rocky career in the DFL, having over seven fights he's won four but hasn't won them consecutively to find good ground. Currently he is coming off of a win by a Head kick knock out. The interesting thing about him is throughout his wins and losses in the DFL none of them have made it to the end. So he looks to either knock out or get knocked out but He'll be damned if his fight is boring. His opponent Fifth Fist started out rocky with DFL, but in his last three matches he has finished every opponent in the first round. And the only fight he's had go to the second round was a loss by submission.

Breakdown: Tiddlywink has most of the advantages until it comes to boxing where his opponent Fifth Fist will get a slight nod for.

Featherweight Bout

Nino Brown (13-8) vs. Predator Burns (22-13)

Nino Brown has had two stints so far in the DFL but hasn't quite made an impact in either of the stints. His current stint he lost his first two fights, now after winning his first fight by a split decision He'll be coming into this match against Predator Burns on his debut match. Burns has been in some of the biggest fight organizations in all of Tycoon having stints in Syn, Claymore Elite combat, and aggressive damage. He even held the title in Aggressive Damage twice. Unfortunately for the 37 year old veteran He'll be coming into the fight after a split decision loss.

Breakdown: Nino Brown carries all of the advantages into this fight including experience. It'll be a very tough fight for Nino Brown, but upsets can happen.

Welterweight Bout

Miles North (8-7) vs. Frank Reilly (20-13)

Since Miles North debut last month he's currently at 1-1 with the DFL org. His last fight was a TKO win over Pascual Perez. Frank Reilly has been with this organization a day short of a year. He even held the welterweight title for a very short stint. Reilly's last fight a loss to Karl Denke by TKO

Duel 141 Review

KO of the night: Michael Proctor

Sub of the night: The Sigit

Fight of the Night: John Wayne Gracie vs. Nicolas Muller

Welterweight title bout

Maya Chigg (22-7) Vs. Karl Denke (21-10)

Winner: Karl Denke via TKO round 1 4:50

For the main event we had two fighters going head to head who had never lost a fight within the DFL, until tonight. Maya Chigg was coming into the fight for his third title defense against an opponent Denke who had never let a fight go passed the first round. Denke did not disappoint for the fourth fight in a row he ended his opponent within the first round! Although Denke was cut well within the beginning of the first round, he did not hesitate . It looked to me as Chigg was doing quite well for himself until the final seconds of the round. Denke no doubt has some good combinations that ended the fight. The question is how long will Denke be able to maintain his first round knock outs? Is there anyone that can challenge him?

Light Heavyweight Title Fight

Kevin Garbutt (18-9) vs. Rama Arjuna (22-7)

Winner: Rama Arjuna via KO round 2 3:30

The welterweight title may have changed hands but not the light heavyweight title. As Arjuna holds onto his title for the second time via a KO punch in the second round. Arjuna's record is now 22-7 and his winning streak up to 9. Kevin Garbutt's first round performance was okay at best. In my eyes he was way to aggressive he swung for the head 38 times and only landed 19 times. While Arjuna swung for the head 13 times and hit 9. Just to give you an ideal of the aggressiveness of Garbutt. Could of it played out differently if he was more of a cautious fighter, I think so. Garbutt was knocked on his butt a total of two times in the second round. This was Garbutt's debut match and I do think He'll be able to contend in the near future though!

Super Heavyweight Fight

John Wayne Gracie (15-6) vs. Nicolas Muller (20-12)

Winner: John Wayne Gracie by Split Decision

Fight of the Night

In what was the fight of the night, a split decision victory for John Wayne Gracie!

It was a pretty exciting fight to watch two super heavyweights going after it with the action of a lightweight fight definitely some top notch stuff. Beginning of the first round Gracie cut Muller with a powerful jab. There was a nice shot from Muller in the first round that had Gracie tumbling towards the cage but mostly during the first round there was a lot of flying legs connecting left and right. The second round was pretty close but Muller pulled through that one. Another round with a lot of leg kicks. The third round was a near end for Gracie after getting rocked within the first ten seconds but he did good to keep the fight going and putting the pressure right back on Muller. In the end it was a good fight and Gracie's record goes to 15-6.

Light Heavyweight Fight

Miro Bang (24-17) vs. Geese Fury (20-13)

Winner: Miro Bang by unanimous decision

Miro Bang did it again, beating Geese Fury for the second time. Although there has definitely been improvement in Fury's grappling abilities. In their last match up Miro Bang finished him with a submission this time they made it to decision. Bang will definitely be feeling good tonight, after his previous fight being a loss to the current champion. He'll need to gather some victories and focus in training so he can once again go in for a title shot. Fury on the other hand hasn't been fairing so well after going on a four fight win streak he landed a chance for the title and lost it due to a KO. Although he won a fight between the title shot and this current loss he is falling behind in the contender area for the title.

Light Heavyweight Fight

Emet Golem (14-14) vs. Mike Snow (16-8)

Winner: Emet Golem by TKO round 2 0:30

Golem dominated this fight! Snow didn't even stand a chance, which will bring snows current losing streak to a four. But Golem hasn't done much better having a tit for tat with his win/loss ratio.

Welterweight fight

The Sigit (32-20-2) vs. Paul Maul (26-22)

Winner: The Sigit by submission 2nd round 4:51

.

Maul definitely gave Sigit a good beating a few times in the fight but Sigit was damn well determined to get Maul on the ground and win by submission. This will be Sigits second win in a row which is th best he's done in quite some time. While Maul continues to have a hard time competing.

Lightweight fight

Tommy Shelby (12-7) vs. Sergei Babakov (12-5)

Winner: Tommy Shelby by Unanimous Decision

Previously when they fought Babakov won via a TKO. Babakov dominated Shelby with his clinch work in that last fight. Well in the rematch Babkov didn't try to change anything up thinking it would work but Shelby came in well aware of his fight strategy. Babakov attempted to clinch 40 so times in this fight. He still did good in the clinch but Shelby was able to break free of it more often and work his better boxing.

Lightweight fight

Andre Soares (18-11) vs. Wang Qiang (9-3-1)

Winner: Andre Soares via submission round 3 4:23

Andre Soares will be celebrating his second victory tonight in the DFL. Qiang although outmatched showed some skill in the first round grabbing the clinch, although he didn't score a touch he did a nice reversal of position that looked good to the judges, at least enough to give him that first round. Throughout the fight though Soares was hunting for that submission with 21 attempts at it of course he was going to get it at some point.

Lightweight Fight

Lukas Hanak (29-14-1) vs. Gracie Allen (27-21-1)

Winner: Lukas Hanak by Unanimous Decision

Lukas Hanak is currently on his second stint in the DFL... And has still never lost a match in the org. In a fight that truly showcased how experienced and skilled Hanak is he won every round comfortably. Even cutting his opponent Allen with the first minute of the fight. Landing a total of 51 head punches and 4 head kicks Gracie Allen might be thinking of retirement soon or at least a headache for the next week. It'll be nice to see if the old champ can get a title shot soon. Allen will need to sharpen his striking if he wants to keep up. He definitely still has a good chin and can take a beating.

Heavyweight Fight

Michael Proctor (30-13) vs. Paul Stalker (12-7)

Winner: Michael Proctor via KO (Head Kick) round 1 0:16

KO of the Night

Proctor's 30th win and his 30th KO! Proving to the world he is "The world's most Dangerous Man". Proctor landed two punches to the head and a swift kick and knocked his opponent Stalker out. While Stalker only had three very unsuccessful clinch attempts.

Duel 142 Review

KO of the night winner: Mario Barrera

Fight of the Night: Mario Barrera vs. Darth Sidious

Sub of the night: Predator Burns

Heavyweight Title Fight

Quetzal Montezuma (13-7) vs. Brandon Vee (18-3)

Winner Brandon Vee by TKO 2nd round 0:55

The rematch I've been waiting for since I started my research for the preview! Montezuma vs. Vee Part two!! Montezuma's debut match for the DFL was a loss by TKO to Vee. Since then Montezuma was on a rampage and eventually won the title. After a seven fight win streak and going into this fight for his fourth title defense the two met again. This time there was a lot more improvement in Montezumas stand up skills. After dominating the first round and even cutting his opponent Vee. Brandon came out the second round with a vengeance. Even cutting Montezuma right before the crushing blow. Finally Brandon Vee after a nine fight winning streak holds the title and improves his record to 18-3.

Samuel Kravac (14-9) vs. Cleon Wright (19-6)

Winner: Cleon Wright by unanimous Decision

Cleon Wright definitely dominated the fight even holding off Kravac' s multiple attempts at submitting him. Kravac had a total of 7 takedowns during the fight but could not submit Wright. Wright took care of the stand up portion of the fight. Wright is now on a four fight win streak.

Mario Barrera (20-5-1) vs. Darth Sidious (22-16)

Winner: Mario Barrera by TKO 2nd round 2:58

KO of the night and fight of the night

Sidious may have lost this fight but after being knocked down twice within the first round and standing up for more is a testament to his will! He even got a little bit of revenge by knocking down Barrera right before the end of the first round. But in the second round Sidious met his end after a punishing blow by Barrera.

Heavyweight Fight

Daniel Crushman (20-10-1) vs. Barney Rumble (11-4)

Winner: Daniel Crushman by TKO 2nd round 0:47

What an amazing debut for Crushman! Winning his debut match by TKO against Barney Rumble. Poor rumble can't get a break losing his second match in the DFL. And it really comes as a surprise because a man who is a veteran kickboxer you'd think he would handle an MMA fighters striking with relative ease.

Middleweight Fight

Dick Army (25-15-1) vs. Terry Bogard (9-2)

Winner: Dick Army by Unanimous Decision

Terry Bogard finally met his match in the DFL, although he won the first round, the other two rounds clearly went to Army. In a true show of class the veteran Dick Army is truly a striker you don't want to stand up with.

Welterweight Fight

Peter Angelov (20-14-1) vs. Cuba Moretti (8-5-1)

Winner: Peter Angelov by TKO round one 2:50

Peter Angelov continues his unstoppable warpath in the DFL now on a four fight win streak. Successfully stopping Mr. Moretti's win streak in the DFL.

Heavyweight Fight

Roger Tiddlywinks (18-10) vs. Fifth Fist (20-10)

Winner: Roger Tiddlywinks TKO round 1 0:26

It's sad to see a man who was on a streak of knockouts and technical knockouts to be ended so quickly in a match. Fifth Fist only had one fist in this fight, in which he only landed one punch. Roger Tiddlywink now has back to back wins under his belt hopefully he can continue to make short work of his opponents.

Featherweight Fight

Predator Burns (23-13) vs. Nino Brown (13-9)

Winner: Predator Burns by Submission round 2 2:25

Predator Burns made an impressive debut victory even winning sub of the night. Burns confidence is probably at an all time high and maybe this might be a sign of what will come. Nino Brown still only has one win under his belt in the DFL and now that his contract his up he may soon look for greener pastures.

Welterweight match

Frank Reilly (21-13) vs. Miles North (8-8)

Winner: Frank Reilly by TKO round one 2:33

Light Heavyweight Fight

Mike Reilly (10-4) vs. Kieko Lynn (10-7)

Winner: Mike Reilly by TKO round 2 1:17

Duel 143: Parker Vs. Ashton

7th of April, 2018

Empire Indoor Arena

Middleweight Bout

Peter Parker (32-16) vs. Eric Ashton (20-19)

Since Parker's entrance to Duel Fighting League he has ended his opponents with his heavy hands. Currently on a six fight win streak, four of those fights being in the DFL not one challenger has been able to being even close to dethrone him from his perch at the top of the division. This isn't the first time Parker has had the title in DFL. If his record holds true, he was the very first Middleweight Champion of the DFL. Way back in DFL #2 He defeated the then Veteran Brandon Couture for the title. That was back in 2016. After fighting many more bouts in the DFL he went onto others orgs such as SYN and Underground. His opponent Eric Ashton will be coming into this fight currently undefeated in the DFL winning his last three fights.

Side by Side comparison of the two, Parker has the superior striking skills. When it comes to wrestling and BJJ Ashton will have the upper hand.

Bantamweight Bout

Barack Obama (24-24-1) vs. Johnny Pearson (14-7)

Obama is currently ranked 7th in the Bantam weight class and is currently the Bantamweight Champion of the DFL. Going onto his first title defense He'll be looking to prove to the world it wasn't a fluke. Out of his 24 wins, 12 of them by submission, 6 of them by (T)KO and another 6 by decision. But as many as wins as he has, he has that many losses. Although it seems his biggest weakness is taking the fight to the judges. With 12 losses going to decisions. The contender Johnny Pearson is young for this level of competition, being at the age of 25. But he has shown a lot of promises beating quite a few fighters with loads more experience than him. In his last two fights he has won KO of the night and fight of the night. He relies heavily on his Muay Thai striking skills, other than that not a very well rounded fighter.

Middleweight Bout

Ravi Shankoli (43-14) vs. Deez Nutzzzz (19-12)

Shankoli and Nutzzzz both made their debuts in their last fights and were both awarded fight of the nights. So if that's any sign of what this fight might be like, I think It'll be safe to say this is going to be at least fight of the year.

Ravi Shankoli at the age of 35 has had over 57 fights with 43 of those being wins. 79% of his wins come from (T)KOs. Shankoli has been a champion of multiple organizations. And has won a total of five titals. The only one to date he has failed at obtaining would be his two stints in GAMMA. Will he be able to obtain the DFL title? Maybe so he has defeated the current champion Peter Parker while they were in the Ontario Fight Club.

Deez Nutzzzz hasn't had quite the career Shankoli has but he has had a few titles. Two times Budo Rei FC champion, and MMA Helsinki champ. Nutzzzz will be coming into this fight with a record of 19-12, 17 of those wins coming by (T)KOs the other two by decision. And after winning fight of the night on his debut He'll be sure to have the confidence coming into this fight to make it another good battle.

Eskem Von Ketler (16-6) vs. BJ Penn (10-3)

Von Ketler is a very well known fighter within the DFL. He's never won a title but has always been one of the contenders and if your going to make your name here you have to go through him. With a record of 16-6, 10 of his wins came by the way of submission. He generally doesn't stand and bang but if he has too he can hold his own.

BJ Penn will be coming into this fight after his debut win against Byron Tipton. With a record of 10-3 And at the age of 22 He's probably one of the younger fighters in this organization. Out of the 10 wins Penn has had 8 of them come by the way of (T)KOs. So both fighters definitely have different preferences when it comes to winning fights.

Hopefully Ketler learned from his fight against Pearson, just because their young and slightly less skilled than you, doesn't guarantee you a win.

Middleweight Bout

Sam witcher (11-2) vs. Peyton Manning (14-9)

Sam Witcher with a record of 11-2 is on an 8 fight win streak. Out of those 11 wins, 8 of them came by the way of (T)KOs. He's never been submitted but he has been knocked out once.

Peyton Manning is a submission specialist. Submitting 14 of his opponents. Including winning his DFL debut by submission and being awarded the submission of the night. Manning will be looking for the submission against Witcher, as long as he can survive the hands.

Super Heavyweight Bout

Milktoast Diddlybottom (12-10) vs. Archie Trew (17-8)

Milktoast Diddlybottom, standing at a towering 213 CM and weighing 294 Lbs. Is a beast of a man but not if you were to take a look at his record. With only one win since signing up for DFL, after a total of four fights his career isn't looking to good. His last fight was against John Wayne Gracie who submitted him in the first round. I don't just count anyone out before the fight he does have some impressive grappling history on which he came pretty close in the TWGC 7, Until he lost in the Finale.

Then we have Archie Trew just a little bit shorter at 195 cm but a few pounds heavier at exactly 300 pounds. Trew will be coming into this fight with 17 wins, which all were KO's or TKO's, and eight losses. Only one fight in his whole career has ever made it to the judges. He even had an impressive record with three managers until the fourth manager who added four losses and only two wins. Fortunately for Trew he's now under a new manager who will hopefully bring him back to his glory days. The days when he fought in three different orgs and was a champion three different times.

Milner's Breakdown: Trew will have a very very slight advantage over Diddlybottom with his striking. But Diddlybottom by far has the better grappling abilities. Trew though has never been submitted.

Middleweight Bout

Eric Staal (17-6-1) vs. Lip Ton (19-14)

Eric Staal a former champion Middleweight Fight with a record of 17-6-1 Will be going against Lip Ton a fighter just coming off of a debut win against Joe Walcott.

Eric Staal's most recent loss was a title shot against the current champion Peter Parker. After that he went onto beat Castor Rollins by a decision victory. Staal is trying to make his way back to another title shot but He'll have to find his place amongst the contenders in the meantime. Eric Staal will most likely want to use his solid striking skills against his opponent Lip Ton who is a Red Belt in BJJ. Lip Ton "King of the Armbars" has submitted 11 of his opponents. Ton's BJJ is his only real advantage over Staal.

Welterweight Bout

Johny Persecutioned (27-21) vs. Lee Sin (13-7-1)

Both fighters are coming off back to back losses so they'll both be trying hard to get that win in this event. Lee Sin hasn't won a fight in the DFL since his debut. And Persecutioned has always been a back and forth fighter. Comparison of the two they are fairly equal in about everything so It'll be all up to their game plan or ability to adapt.

Welterweight Bout

Ray Bundles (12-14) vs. Ben Turner (17-10-1)

This will be a fairly evenly matched fight. Both fighters coming in with a decent win streak. Ray Bundles has a three fight win streak, out of his 12 wins, 3 (T)KOs and 9 went to the judges.

Ben Turner is on a 4 fight win streak, after a rough ending to his Helsinki Career he went through some local circuit and then he jumped back into the bigger orgs. This will be his third fight with DUEL, his two previous fights were victories so he's had a good run of late.

Middleweight Bout

Alexander Potter (18-11-1) vs. Vadim Nazarov (38-19-4)

Alexander had a great start to his DFL career, winning four fights in a row. Then he lost back to back against Eric Staal and Castor Rollins. He came out of the slump against SB Yol in which he beat via a submission. Potter holds a red belt in BJJ with elite wrestling. Nazarov will be making his debut in the DFL after a long career in SYN. Nazarov is a world class Muay Thai fighter and will be looking to knock Potter out before he can ever get him to the ground.
