The maiden voyage for The Asylums' first ever MMA event has finally come to an end. Dreams were shattered and Champions were crowned. Asylum 1 offered six bouts including two open Title fights. Now its time to go over the winners and what we see for the future!

First fight of the night featured 155 LB SFC Champion Joey "JJ" James against Boxing guru Stephen "Styme" Kaufman. The fight went in favor of veteran James defeating Kaufman by way of first round Submission (Triangle). This marks the 4th consecutive submission loss for the striker, his most recent only two days prior to James. Maybe its time to consider an exclusive KT career as he initially intended.
** Joey "JJ" James: R1 Submission (Triangle)

Middleweight fighter Jim "Sterile" Bob had suffered difficulties during weight-cut and was unable to compete ruling the bout a No Contest. Marty Hughley was very upset not being able to make his professional debut and call for a new fight as soon as possible. The Asylum administration staff agreed to accommodate these demands due to the circumstances.
** NO CONTEST **

Moving on we found a very entertaining match-up between Boxer Richie "Dinkles" Wrinkles and Muay Thai specialist William Otero "Mr.Pain" Otero. This fight was probably one of the most exciting bouts of the night. These two warriors fought with nonstop action from bell to bell. When all was said and done the Judges favored the pressure and accuracy of Richie "Dinkles" Wrinkles scoring the bout 30 - 26. Otero doesn't agree with the Judges decisions and vows to come back and defeat the striker.
** Richie "Dinkles" Wrinkles: Unanimous Decision

Benjamin "Mr.Buttons" Button makes his debut against Clinch fighter Herpes Henry Number Nine. Though the fight first looked as though Herpes Henry Number Nine had the win in the bag with successful clinch strikes. Button found a hole in the veterans game plan when he took him to the canvas. There were plenty of moments where it seemed that Herpes Henry Number Nine was close to damaging Benjamin to the point of defeat. Henry was able to score another successful take down and found access to Herpes Henry Number Nine's back as he was attempting to stand, with no hesitation he sunk in the Rear Naked Choke.
** Benjamin "Mr.Buttons" Button: R1 Submission (RNC)

The Super Heavyweight Title fight was one of the most entertaining performances of the night! Big "Bad" Bear took on Super Heavyweight Kickboxing icon Stanley "Peter Puffer" Chrome. Right out of the first bell, Bear was able to score a takedown and maintain a dominant position for most of the fight. This was not an easy task. Chrome found was to avoid over 80% of incoming strikes, tiring his large opponent. Near the end of the round Bear was able to find an opening in Chromes guard and was able to land a strong strike, knocking out Chrome for the victory.
** Big "Bad" Bear: R1 KO (Strikes)

Our Main Event was the 170 lb Title fight between NCAA Wrestler turned Jujitsu Purple Belt Gary "Goose" Gray against Boxing phenom Joe "The Beast " Tolken. This was the most anticipated fight of the night between these two very diverse fighters. All seemed to be on schedule as Tolken attempted to lock the grappler up in a clinch, which was avoided. Out of no where, Tolken decided to turn the tables and scored with a very impressive takedown. Unfortunately that was the beginning of the end. Gray was able to reverse the infamous striker and gain a dominant top position. Landing significant strikes from top Tolken shocked the fans even more when he attempted a Submission from bottom guard! Though the Submission was foiled, there may be more to Tolken then meets the eye. Once the Submission was broken, Gray was able to land a short punch that placed a cut into his opponents head. With his vision greatly impaired, Gray was able to advance into Full Mount and put his opponent out. Though Gray won the bout it seems as though Tolken was the favorite fighter. Experts did not expect him to find such success on the ground with this NCAA fighter. Many of his fans, myself included, believe if the fight was kept standing that there would be a different Champion today. Unfortunately all we, as fans, can ask for is a rematch.
** Gary "Goose" Gray: R1 KO (Strikes)
