Bjorn O'Donnel scholarships January 2017 Review

The first edition was a gigantic succes, as it awoke some sleeping giants and created a lot of buzz throughout the MMA-community.

Managers and fighters were lining up to try and get the sponsorship, but in the end only 3 got the recognition they were all looking for.

When judging the different participants, I looked at all requirements. It is not just the person who seems to have the most potential, or the one with the best pen, but a combination of all requirements that were summed up in the opening post.

The 3 winners of the first edition are mentioned below together with a short comment concerning their progress.

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14647163526775.png

David "The Real Deal" Dickinson

Dickinson showed big potential early on, but there was always the question if his lack of a real granite chin,KO power, heart,... would be his downfall. It turned out that he does not have the best chin and is now paying the price for it. His manager has parted ways with him after some dissapointing losses and now Ispa will try to turn his career around.

Dog The Multi Hunter

Dog The Multi Hunter had an amazing video to promote himself and turned out to be quit the personality.
He was a clear favorite to receive a scholarship for me right from the start, as he is a granite chin submission specialist.

If one thing is hard to beat, it is just that. His manager has climbed up the rankings bigtime and seems to have formed a strong connection with his fighter. Dog The Multi Hunter is now 13-1 with 12 finishes and is fighting for the Pulse 155lbs title next. He is a heavy favourite going into this fight and is expected to return with the belt. Good luck!

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14829958139362.jpg

Kostya "KO" Tszyu

Kostya Tszyu is one of those guys that you just not want to stand in front when you are in the octagon. He has insane KO-power and does not shy away from using it. His pro record is 14-1-3 and at age 23, he is the reigning, defending Pulse 185lbs champion. His next fight is against another high ranked youngster with dynamite in his fists: Anderson Aldo. They have a history together, where so far Kostya has proven to be the better of both men.

I am very pleased to see how the 3 winners of the first Bjorn O'Donnel-scholarships are doing. Dickinson might be underperforming a little, but Dog The Multi Hunter and Kostya Tszyu are doing exactly what I expected... dominate!

Lord "God Of Destruction" Beerus (319815)

His bio: I am the most feared warrior in universe 7 there is no one who has ever drawn out my full power so in every fight I am disappointed.

I have decided to test this "MMA" universe and see if there is anyone worthy of my presence or if I should just destroy this universe.

I don't know how to put pictures and I'm using the generic avatars sadly?

6 years ago, one of the best managers of the era suddenly disappeared, never to be seen again.

Till quite recently, that is. Appearing out of the wilderness, we had a quick interview with Shiv Redux.

Interviewer: Shiv! I can't believe it's really you! I'm a huge fan, could I get an autograph before we start? Thanks! Anyway, where have you been at all this while?

Shiv: That's a good question. I'm not sure how to answer it, to be fair. I'd been at the top for too long, it was too easy and too boring - I needed a challenge.

Interviewer: So... did you find one?

Shiv: You could say that. I traveled. I fought the bulls in Spain, played a game of Calcio Fiorentino in Italy, even did a form of Vale Tudo up in Brazil. That year was quite interesting.

Interviewer: Wow, that sounds intense. And that was challenging?

Shiv: Nope, all that just made me realize that the only true challenge I would get would be myself. I spent then next 3 years meditating in a small village in Cambodia.

Interviewer: So, what are you doing around here now? Are you back?

Shiv: After Cambodia, I traveled the world again, this time looking for the right individuals for me to mould into gods. All the kids that you see training under me are people I came across on my travels.

Interviewer: Looking at your roster, I can see people from so many countries. England, Spain, Greece, Thailand and even Nigeria. It must be quite a colorful training camp.

Shiv: Oh, the boys are fantastic. They're all getting the hang of English now, so that's just making things easier. It's not a big deal though, since fighting is a language of it's own.

Interviewer: There's an amazing scholarship fund that's currently looking for an upcoming talent - do you think there's anyone you'd like to suggest?

Shiv: Honestly, they're all fantastic. You could probably give them all scholarships. If I have to pick one out though, it would probably be...

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14954775393490.jpg

Shiv: ... Iolyn "Tywysog y Gigfran" Madog. He's a Welsh boy - really bright and boy can he take a punch. He was locally called "The Price of Ravens". I think it was a prophetic claim on how great he's going to become.

Interviewer: Amazing! That should be great. Can we get a quick quote from Iolyn? Do you have any advice for other fighters like yourself looking to move to a city like London?

Iolyn: Never kiss a girl whose brothers have knife scars.

Interviewer: That... sounds like it was from experience. I think that should be enough though, thanks!

Pulse FC Featherweight champion at 20 - present
Former Pulse FC Lightweight title Contender at 18

http://i.imgur.com/AmIglYM.jpg
Arguably the best thing to come out of Brixton since David Bowie, is none other than a young man that shares a name with the south London district - Danny Brixton. Son to a mechanic Father and stay-at-home Mother, Danny - nicknamed "Diamond" - grew up with less than the average family but more than enough for them to get by. To get him away from a life of street-fighting and crime, Brixton was introduced to Boxing as a young teenager and took to it like a duck to water. He would then transition to Mixed Martial Arts in the following years.
Due to his manager's connections in Tokyo, Brixton would sign a four-fight contract with the promotion Pulse FC. Soon after signing, he was booked against another debuting fighter despite being only seventeen years old, and seven years the junior of his opponent. Now, thirteen fights down the line, Danny is the Pulse FC Featherweight Champion and has defended his strap three times, looking better with each performance and showing no signs of slowing down.
Since becoming Champion, Brixton has spent the majority of his winnings on giving back to the community that shaped him, investing in youth programmes as well as opening small gyms of his own. If granted the scholarship, the funds will be entirely used on bettering the lives of those less fortunate than he, as he plans on opening a large-scale fitness facility that shall be free to use for those that can't otherwise afford the luxury.

"Do they call me diamond for my chin? my hands? or the rocks in my watch? Who knows.
But lord knows I'm gonna shine like one, and so should those that were never given the chance to. I'm going to give them that chance."
Thanks for reading, and cheers for the opportunity :>

Pekka "Punchmaster General" Toivonen (310698)

4-0 KT, 1-0 MMA. 4 (T)KO

Pekka grew up on the edge of the civilized world, in the same frozen hellhole as Santa Claus and the Moomins. He had a traditional Finnish upbringing and grew up playing ice hockey and drinking copious amounts of anti-freeze.

From an early age, his talent for punching people was evident both on and off the ice. After punching the mayor of Turku during a bizarre sauna incident, he was awarded with the highest honor in Finnish society: The office of Punchmaster General. Pekka was offered a contract by rockstar manager Mañuel "Salad" Tosen, and somehow bumbled his way into winning the Gladiators Openweight KT tournament.

A man of the people, Toivonen still does odd carpentry jobs for other members of Convicted Inc. His most recent project was building a hammock strong enough to hold the entire Puno clan. If he gets the scholarship, he'll probably spend the money on more anti-freeze and a box of nails.

"Kung Fu Zombie" Bong Ji Woo

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14947188391358.gif

6-0-1

2 KO 2 Sub 2 Dec

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/trophies/triB2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/trophies/streakB2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/trophies/winB2.jpg

Bong Ji Woo was born in a dojo in South Korea. He was labeled a delinquent in his hometown after beating up an overbearing Martial Arts instructor, making advances on a young woman and her mother that turned out to be his cousin and aunt, and beating up a hooligan who was the son of an influential business owner. His father arranged for him to train harder in Martial Arts and dedicate his life to Kung Fu.

4th degree master of Drunken Panda Kung Fu by the age of 18, he entered the prestigious Taijutsu tournament in Tokyo to show off his abilities. Most of his competition consisted of inferior opponents managed by simpletons like G Wad and Bjorn O'Donnel, but in this tournament he encountered one worthy adversary; Yung Hung Dong. This battle was a true testament to his ability as he edged out a decision victory. The Kung Fu Zombie advanced in the tournament and went on to be crowned champion, proving his Kung Fu too strong.

Ghazi "Burnt" Okah

http://i68.tinypic.com/344bbrc.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/344bbrc.jpg

Ghazi was spotted as a teenager fighting for grubby fistfuls of dollars in underground Tokyo fight clubs. His previous manager dropped him in a pubic fit of rage, loudly condemning his stupidity and his resemblance to a punching bag. Bwang Jong Sr's representatives who were there that night had a different view. They swiftly approached the defeated but not dejected Okah there and then. A new partnership was agreed and within hours the 18yr old was on a jet to Las Vegas, where he moved into the Long Jong Mansion and began full time MMA training at the renowned Wild Beasts Zoo.

At the age of 20 he was sent back to Tokyo to show off his new skills. In front of 2000 fans in Hayashi's Lounge, fighting first on the Karasev Letho card (Bushido 20), Okah swiftly claimed the KO of the night award with a devastating multi knockdown multi hooks-to-the-face finish of Brain Solan. It was a flawless performance, 50/51 strikes attempted landed, not one received. Letho that night won the heavyweight title with a first round knockout (depressingly predictable perhaps since we now know he was juiced up to the max by the betrayer Wolf) but nonetheless it was Okah who took the bonus.

A few weeks later he was winning in Tokyo again, surprising everyone back at the camp with a submission of the night bonus this time at Bushido 26.

His first serious test arrived with a battle against Krystian Soszynski at Bushido 40. Ghazi was going for his fifth straight victory in the org, all by way of finish, but he came up against an elite level boxer who was on a five fight winning streak (all by KO) of his own. Neither warrior could finish the other in this instant classic, and despite getting on the wrong side of the judges decision, Ghazi showed off heart and confidence at supreme levels. Coupled with a long established granite chin this brave young warrior was becoming a firm favourite within the global Bwang Jong Operation.

3 wins in a row in the LHW division attracted the attention of Andrey Kuznetkov, the established HW champion, undefeated at 9-0, and on the lookout for a serious challenge. Okah stepped up to it. Facing a wrestling, ground and pound nightmare, Ghazi was forced to show off his elite level ground defence, and with a close fight deep into the championship rounds Ghazi yet again stunned his corner with a beautiful transition to armbar from bottom to claim his eagerly awaited first title.

Since defeating Okah, Soszynski had taken the LHW title and gone on to defend it in dominant style three times. A rematch was now irresistible.

In front of 7000 lucky fans at the Saku Dome, on 7/7/17, the LHW champion and the HW champion put on a gruesome fight of the night slugfest with neither man backing down, throwing over 400 strikes at each other! The judges were split, and this time the decision came down Okah's way.

Rejected at 18, he is now the dual heavyweight and lightheavyweight Bushido champions at the age of 23.

What tomorrow holds is never clear, but with his top level chin, heart and confidence, and with the backing of the whole Bwang Jong Fighting Empire behind him his future is wide open. The global P4P heights are to be aimed for..

Tsoko "The Assassin" Chikatchawan

http://i68.tinypic.com/2liiosl.jpg

Discovered by a Bwang Jong scouting party who were scouring the Americas for talent. Rumours had begun to spread in the summer of '16 that the legendary Dean Sutherland had spent a short amount of time in the jungles of Central America before his final disappearance off the face of the earth. Scouts of many management teams were sent to investigate what he'd been up to. Bwang Jong's team arrived first and discovered a diamond.

Wary at first, this mysterious looking jungle assassin grew to trust the men who'd been sent to his land, with hopes and dreams in their hearts of finding a new superstar. Happily for them, and us all at Bwang Jong HQ, it seemed Dinoo had indeed been busy training the local tribespeople. Tsoko only ever spent a few months with the great man but a seed had been planted, a champion's heart had been lit.

Brief career synopsis, before and since joining the Bwang Jong Enterprise:

1st fight: "good chin". (Tsoko comes over to the Bwang Jong team). 2nd fight: "KO power". 3rd fight: a shocking decision loss, out-striking Mengestu 64:42 but getting majorly robbed. 4th fight, 5th fight, 6th fight, 7th fight, 8th fight, 9th fight, 10th fight, 11th fight - all opponents get slaughtered!

Can he be stopped?!? He is currently the defending LHW champion and #3 p4p fighter at Devastation Fighting Championships.

9-2, age 23.

Anyway, all those who already have participated ( = wrote a story already) , will stay signed up, while I'll give you all one more week to write new stories with other fights. The more different fighters that sign up here, the better, so that the forum members have some fun stuff to read and follow.

Deadline: must have written a story on here before 20/09/2017 or it will not be taken into account anymore.

Any level of your own fighters can be written about on here, noob fighter or elite level beast.

So once again, apologies for the delay, but take full advantage now guys and potentially win the scholarships!

Have fun and do so in style!

Bjorn O'Donnel scholarships2 - september 2017

Since the succes of the first scholarships in MMATycoon history, fighters and managers have been lining up trying to secure their scholarship in the second edition.

Due to the big amount of interest, it wasn't easy at all to decide the 3 winners, who will all be receiving 200k to their account.

The winners have been decided by using multiple criteria, going from age, background story, opponent quality,...

Even filtering the signups with plenty of filters, it still was somewhat difficult to decide the 3 top dogs.

In no particular order, I will now go on to announce the 3 winners of the Bjorn O'Donnel scholarships 2 - september 2017.

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14827161955927.png

"Diamond" Danny Brixton

Danny Brixton is a scary presence in the octagon, at only 22 years old.
The combination of his granite chin and stone hands make him a very tricky beast to deal with for anyone in his division.

HIs background material also made for a very clear view on his life and got me hooked directly.

Amazing prospect with a very bright future ahead of him. Hopefully we will hear a lot more from him in the future!

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14947188391358.gif

"Kung Fu Zombie" Bong Ji Woo

Bong Ji Woo is another one of those shiny prospects, formed by MMA powerhouse manager CK.

This South Korean youngster boost a very nice 8-1-1 record and at a very young age, seems destined for greatness.
He is training with some of the best youngsters around and has some big footsteps to walk in, but he seems to have it all.

Flash guy with flashy finishes, what a pleasure to see him fight!

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14299078409945.jpg

Ghazi "Burnt" Okah

While the first two guys who will receive a scholarship where light guys, this guy is a big powerful fighter.

Ozah his style resembles a little bit the one of Bong Ji Woo, as he is also capable of winning the fight in whatever way he prefers.

With both far above average chin and heart, he is a handful for anyone stepping into the cage with him.

He is part of Bwang his team of superhumans. He could have probably entered 90% of his youngsters for this scholarship, as he has used very high standards for his projects. The fighter from Ghana is a guy you do not want to take lightly. He will no doubt become a household name in an elite org sometime in the near future.

The level of participants was once again very high and that makes my job a bit more difficult, but not less fun ;)

The scholarship money will be sent shortly.

Thank you to all participating and congrats to the 3 winners!

My sincere apologies once again for the delay of the competition.

Hopefully the winners will post updates on here about their career once in a while, so that we can all follow their progress.

"Just got word through the grapevine that I was one of the three guys picked for the scholarship? That's great news, and I can't wait to put the money to good use. Like stated in my original post, the funds will be going towards opening a state-of-the-art fitness and leisure facility in Brixton, that will be free for those that can not afford it. I've been blessed with fame and fortune and I feel others should be given the chance too."

"Also, I will update my own career progress here every now and then, but it might get a bit repetitive hearing that I defended my belt again and again and again."

Ghazi Okah, the mountain lion of Ghana, asked me to pass on his humble thanks for being awarded a scholarship from the Bjorn O'Donnel Foundation. He is busy training hard to defend one of his belts at Bushido's final show in Tokyo in 4 days time. We are expecting a spectacular performance from our young warrior as he moves onward and upward in his career.

Much appreciated!
